AbstractAlthough the existence of tapus is well known, their typology, form, and structure have not been the object of a detailed analysis. Based on research undertaken in the Ottoman archive of the National Library of Bulgaria, I analyze eighteenth- and nineteenth-century Ottoman tapu title deeds. I argue that their 'classical' eighteenth-and nineteenth-century form is the outcome of the amalgamation of (1) receipts for payment of the tapu fee (resm-i tapu) and (2) records of land transfer. I also argue that the process of amalgamation probably started in the middle of the sixteenth century and continued until the second half of the seventeenth century.

Abstract:
Tapu and noa are often cited as fundamentals by which we enact tikanga, promote well-being and divide labour. However, exactly how tapu informed precolonial gender divisions of labour is difficult to examine, mostly because of the pervasive influence Christianity has had on cosmological narratives, from which tapu derives (Mikaere, 2017; Rewi, 2010; Te Awekotuku, 1994). This article outlines some commentary on the relationship between tapu, gender roles and colonisation, and tries to extend that scholarship. We posit that the tikanga around tapu and noa in contemporary times may be more rigid than it was before, potentially a negative effect of cosmological colonisation. Furthermore, we suggest that precolonial labour may have been divided by the fundamentals of tapu, whereas in contemporary times it seems gender is the primary consideration. The centring (or recentring) of tapu in such conversations may be a worthy decolonisation avenue as we seek to empower Māori of all genders.

Abstract The transporter associated with Ag processing (TAP) translocates cytosolic peptides into the endoplasmic reticulum for presentation by MHC class 1 molecules. Recently, the actual peptide translocation step has been suggested to be preceded by binding of the peptide to TAP. In this study, we investigated the peptide binding site of TAP and its relevance for peptide selection by cross-linking of translocatable peptides. Our data demonstrate, first, that for a TAP heterodimer containing the rat TAPu allelic product, which selects peptides on basis of their C terminus, the translocation efficiency correlates with the peptide binding efficiency. Second, peptides having the cross-linker at different positions all label both the TAP1 and the TAP2 subunit after binding to the heterodimer, indicating that both TAP subunits contribute directly to the peptide binding site and contact most or all amino acids of a bound peptide. Third, by enzymatic digestion and the use specific antisera, we identified a domain of human TAP1 that contributes to the peptide binding site. This domain contains the two hydrophobic and thus putative transmembrane regions closest to the ATP binding sites. We conclude that the peptide binding site controls the selectivity of TAP and is composed of domains of both TAP1 and TAP2, which each contact the bound peptide over all or most of its length. Moreover, the major contact site(s) for peptide on TAP1 are located within or close to the two putative transmembrane regions adjacent to the ATP binding site.

When broken down by ethnicity, Pacific people are twice as likely to be offenders who have committed a serious crime against a family member; Pacific students are three times as likely as Aotearoa New Zealand European students to report witnessing adults hit children in their homes and five times more likely to die from child abuse or neglect (Pasefika Proud, 2016).Although there is no one single component that can be attributed to family violence, there are three contributing factors that are unique to the experiences of Pacific people inAotearoa New Zealand. These are social and economic inequities, the impact of migration on families, and identity and culture. An underlying concern of identity and culture is the urgent need to understand ethnic-specific perceptions, beliefs and practices with regard to relationships between family members, and the impact of violence on kinship wellbeing.

Abstract The Tongan language has honorific registers, called a ‘language of respect’ (Churchward 1953). These are two limited sets of lexemes used to refer to people of chiefly and kingly rank and thus honour the societal stratification. Anthropological-linguistic research reveals that these honorifics are a tapu-motivated linguistic practice. The Polynesian concept of tapu (source of the loanword taboo) means that entities with more mana (‘supernatural power’) such as persons of higher rank and their personal belongings are ‘sacred’, and it is ‘forbidden’ to get in physical touch with them. The respectful terminology (hou‘eiki and tu‘i) is restricted to such tapu entities (signifiers), and its generic character shows that direct verbal contact with the common kakai signifier is avoided. Thus, the honorific registers function as a verbal taboo in its emic sense.

Ayrıca gayrimenkul sermaye iratlarının vergilendirilmesinde, Veraset ve İntikal Vergisinde, tapu harçlarında ve basit usule tabi mükelleflerin belirlenmesinde Emlak Vergisi değeri kullanılmaktadır. Emlak Vergisi değerinin piyasa değerlerini yansıtmaması bina satışlarında KDV ve Tapu harcı gelirlerinde de kayba neden olmaktadır. Buradan hareketle Kocaeli ili Gebze ilçesinden toplamda 100 adet gayrimenkul örnek alınarak Emlak Vergisi değerleri ile piyasa değerleri karşılaştırılmıştır. Piyasa değerleri binaların Emlak Vergisi değerlerinden 2,55 kat daha fazla çıkmıştır. Arsalarda ise piyasa değerleri Emlak Vergisi değerlerinden 9,70 kat fazla çıkmıştır. İncelemeye konu olan gayrimenkullerin Emlak Vergisi değerlerinin piyasa değerlerinden düşük olduğu ve buna bağlı olarak vergi kayıplarının ortaya çıktığı saptanmıştır.

SYNOPSISThis paper discusses three concepts, mana, tapu and noa, that lie at the heart of Maori culture. These concepts are inter-related and concern power and influence, with political (or secular) authority implicit in mana and ritual (or religious) authority determined by tapu and noa. The paper explores their importance for the understanding of the ethnic views on aetiology and management of illness, the mechanisms of social organization and control, and the behaviour of individuals. Although the belief in these concepts exists in only an attenuated form in modern Maori society, their importance becomes obvious to any psychiatrist or physician working with Maori patients.

ABSTRACT Porphyromonas gingivalis is one of the most etiologically important microorganisms in periodontal disease. We found in a previous study that PG1385 (TprA) protein, a tetratricopeptide repeat (TPR) protein, was upregulated in P. gingivalis wild-type cells placed in a mouse subcutaneous chamber and that a tprA mutant was clearly less virulent in the mouse subcutaneous abscess model (M. Yoshimura et al., Oral Microbiol. Immunol. 23:413-418, 2008). In the present study, we investigated the gene expression profile of tprA mutant cells placed in a mouse subcutaneous chamber and found that 9 genes, including PG2102 (tapA), PG2101 (tapB), and PG2100 (tapC) genes, were downregulated in the tprA mutant compared with those in the wild type. Expression of a cluster of tapA, tapB, and tapC genes of the mutant was also downregulated in an in vitro culture with enriched brain heart infusion medium. The TprA protein has three TPR motifs known as a protein-protein interaction module. Yeast two-hybrid system analysis and in vitro protein binding assays with immunoprecipitation and surface plasmon resonance detection revealed that the TprA protein could bind to TapA and TapB proteins. TprA and TapB proteins were located in the periplasmic space, whereas TapA, which appeared to be one of the C-terminal domain family proteins, was located at the outer membrane. We constructed tapA, tapB, and tapC single mutants and a tapA-tapB-tapC deletion mutant. In the mouse subcutaneous infection experiment, all of the mutants were less virulent than the wild type. These results suggest that TprA, TapA, TapB, and TapC are cooperatively involved in P. gingivalis virulence.

AbstractFerrierite has been found at Tapu, Coromandel Peninsula, New Zealand, as a mineral vein with calcite in altered hornblende andesite lava of the Miocene Beeson's Island Volcanics. The ferrierite is low in SiO2 (63.67%) and high in Al2O3 (13.75%), MgO (3.48%), and BaO(2.35%). The large a axis and cell volume (a 19.236(4), b 14.162(6), c 7.527(3) Å, V 2050 Å3) are consistent with the low SiO2, high Al2O3, high MgO chemistry. Optical orientation and optical sign (a = Z, b = X, c = Y, 2V(-)55°) of the mineral are different from those of the Lake Kamloops ferrierite reported by Graham (1918). Refractive indices α 1.487, γ 1.489, and density 2.136 were measured. Cleavage observed on (100) is perfect and on (001) is imperfect. Using data from eighteen occurrences so far reported including the Tapu mineral, the crystal chemistry of ferrierite has been studied.

The major histocompatibility complex-encoded transporter associated with antigen processing (TAP) is required for the efficient presentation of cytosolic antigens to class I-restricted T cells. TAP is thought to be formed by the interaction of two gene products, termed TAP1 and TAP2. We find that TAPs consisting either of human subunits, or mouse TAP1 and human TAP2, facilitate the presentation of numerous defined viral peptides to mouse class I-restricted T cells. As human and mouse TAP2 and TAP1 differ in 23 and 28% of their residues, respectively, this indicates that TAP1 and TAP2 can form a functional complex with partners considerably different from those they coevolved with. Moreover, these findings indicate that widely disparate TAPs facilitate delivery of the same peptides to class I molecules. These findings suggest that TAP polymorphism does not greatly influence the types of peptides presented to the immune system.

İslâm dininin kurumlardan biri olan zâviyeler, herhangi bir tarikata mensup dervişlerin, bir şeyhin idaresinde topluca yaşadıkları yapı veya yapı topluluğunu ifade etmektedir. Osmanlı Devleti’nde ilk dönemlerden itibaren zâviye kurmak isteyen şeyh ve dervişlere, mirî topraklarda bir takım muafiyetler verilmek suretiyle destek verilmiştir. Bu nedenle Anadolu’da Osmanlı öncesi dönemlerde kurulmaya başlayan zâviyelerin sayısı Osmanlı döneminde her geçen gün daha da artmıştır. Özel mülkiyetten ziyade, geniş vakıf arazileri üzerinde birer tasavvuf müessesesi olarak kurulan bu zâviyeler, çoğunlukla şehir ve kasaba kenarlarında, yollar üzerinde veya geçit yerlerinde inşa edilmişlerdir. Zâviyeler kuruldukları yerlerde hem halkın manevi ihtiyaçlarını karşılayarak dini, hem de gelip geçen yolculara ücretsiz yiyecek, içecek ve yatacak yer sağlayarak sosyal fonksiyonlar üstlenmişlerdir. Bunun yanı sıra Anadolu ve Balkanlarda Türk-İslam kültürünün yayılmasına, göçebe yaşayan toplulukların yerleşik hayata geçmelerine ve böylece kuruldukları yerlerde yeniiskân alanlarının açılmasına da hizmet etmişlerdir. Bütün bu özellikler dikkate alındığında Osmanlı Devleti’nde zâviyeler; bir taraftan kendilerine özgü idari, yönetim, dini anlayış ve ritüellere sahip sosyal bir kurumu, diğer taraftan devletin en ücra köşelerinde hizmet vermeleri ve böylece Osmanlı idari düzeninin sağlanmasına yardımcı olmaları sebebiyle de sivil bir iktidarı temsil etmişlerdir. Osmanlı Devleti, egemenliğine aldığı şehirlerde kuruluşundan başlayarak Türk-İslâm kültürünü yerleştirmek ve kalıcılığını sağlamak amacıyla zâviye yapımını önemsemiştir. Osmanlı Devleti’nde pek çok müessese gibi zâviyeler de vakıf gelirleriyle faaliyetlerini sürdürmüşlerdir. Vakıflar, meydana getirdikleri sistem sayesinde gelir sağlayan ve elde ettikleri gelirlerle toplum ve devlet yararına çok çeşitli konularda hizmet üreten kurumlardır. Zâviyelerin ihtiyaçlarını karşılamak ve sürdürülen hizmetlerin devamlılığını sağlamak amacıyla çoğunlukla zâviye şeyhleri bazen de devlet yöneticileri tarafından kurulan veya desteklenen vakıflar, bu sosyal ve dini kurumların uzun yıllar varlıklarını sürdürmelerine yardımcı olmuşlardır. Tarihsel süreçte kurulduğu coğrafyadan dolayı birçok medeniyete ev sahipliği yapan Bitlis ve yöresi, 1515 yılında Osmanlı egemenliğine alındıktan sonra belirli zaman aralıklarında tahrir edilmiş ve bu tahrir sonuçları ayrıntılı şekilde mufassal defterlere yazılmıştır. Mufassal tahrir defterlerine Bitlis ve çevresinde bulunan zâviye ve zâviye gelirleri, buralarda görev yapan görevliler ve aldıkları ücretler, zâviye vakıflarının menkul ve gayrimenkulleri ile bunlardan sağlanan yıllık gelirler de ayrıntılı şekilde kaydedilmiştir. Bu çalışmada 1540, 1556 ve 1571 yıllarında düzenlenen dört ayrı tahrir defteri incelenmiş ve bu defterlerde yer alan Bitlis ve yöresi zâviyeleri tespit edilmiş, tespit edilen zâviyelerin günümüze kadar varlığını devam ettirip ettiremedikleri ortaya konulmuştur. Böylece özelde Bitlis şehrinin dini ve sosyo-kültürel tarihinin ortaya çıkmasına genelde de kültür tarihine katkı sunulmaya çalışılmıştır.

Abstract. In glacier dynamics, surface velocity of glacier is an important parameter to understand the behaviour of glacier in absence of mass balance and long-term glacier area change information. In present study, surface velocity of Samudra Tapu Glacier, India is estimated using freely available Landsat-8 OLI (PAN) images during 2013–2017. To estimate surface velocity, open source COSI-Corr tool is used which is based on cross-correlation algorithm. Maximum annual surface velocity estimated is 55.68 ± 4.01 m/year during 2015–2016 while the minimum surface velocity being 44.99 ± 4.67 m/year in 2016–2017. The average annual velocity during 2013–2017 was 50.51 ± 4.49 m/year which is higher than other glaciers in Chandra basin. The variation in annual surface velocity is analysed which not only depends on mass loss but also on temperature, pressure and internal drainage. Further, as one moves opposite to glacier terminus, the surface velocity increases with the increase in glacier elevation and slope. The higher surface velocity can be attributed to the fact that Samudra Tapu is a top-heavy glacier based on HI index analysis having larger accumulation area along with high glacier ice-thickness.

The data of each indicator were analyzed in to percentage and orderedthem. The findings show that mostly TAPUs provided the important channels ofPRRS such as online admission application form, electronic posters, Facebook, callcenters, radio, and Youtube. Hence, it was recommended that the Memorandum ofUnderstanding (MoU) strategy should be utilized for this era as well.

Background: On the date of 24 July 2017, the major national daily newspaper reported that there were two death cases from an unknown disease in the Morang district, Sundarharicha Municipality 5, Foklan Tapu. A team of researcher and experts were mobilized in the affected area to investigate and identify the etiological and epidemiological causes.Methods: Both qualitative and quantitative methods was used to conduct the outbreak investigation. 83 blood samples were taken from the patients and microbiological analysis was done at National Public Health Laboratory, Kathmandu. Similarly, 2 verbal autopsies and 5 Key in-depth interviews were taken from a local community leader, local health service providers, medical officer of Koshi Zonal Hospital, district public health officer and medical director of WHO.Results: Out of 83 participants, 49% and 25% of the participants were positive to IgM and IgG antibodies of Leptospira species respectively. 87% of the participants were exposed to animal living in his/her home (including pets). Conclusions: An outbreak which was existing during this investigation turned out to be leptospirosis outbreak, whose exposure was consumption of unhealthy meat during social gathering.Keywords: Epidemiological; etiological; febrile illness; outbreak investigation.

New Zealand critics and audiences in 1903 hailed Tapu (by Alfred Hill and Arthur Adams) as the harbinger of a new ‘national drama’. They thought that the comic opera captured the national essence and would broadcast the nation's advantages to a global audience. Yet the production never made it beyond Sydney, and has since disappeared from the historical record. My analysis of the script and critical reception shows that Tapu faltered in its confused adoption of a wide array of techniques of racial mimicry (borrowed from metropolitan theatres) to represent indigenous Māori and white visitors, but not the native-born settler population. The story of Tapu's failure, I argue, reveals something about the transnational conditions for the constitution of a national public sphere, and the indispensability of race as a supplement to that nation. It attunes us to the force of performance genre and repertoire as vehicles of racial information and affect, pointing to the ways in which conformity, rather than invention, was the ticket to success in the emergent global culture industries. If popular performance, and specifically racial mimicry, operated as a public experiment with the racial properties of citizenship – as a generation of scholarship on race and performance has argued – to what extent was that experiment controlled by the conventions of the global commodity market? This essay reaches insights that will be of interest to scholars of (trans)national performance history, settler whiteness and global indigeneity, and is germane to disciplinary debates on minstrelsy, ethnological show business, and cultural appropriation.

Hui and hui rūnanga, Māori decision-making gatherings, are vital in Māori constitutionalism. Hui demonstrate the practical exercise of tikanga Māori. There is a set of relatively stable Māori legal norms, derived from tikanga Māori, that can be seen at work in such hui-based decision-making. These norms (mana, tapu, whakapapa, whanaungatanga and rangatiratanga) serve to strengthen and demonstrate group processes. They arguably do not establish merely optional guidelines for group behaviour; they can serve to constrain decision-making. A case study set in a hui in a modern Māori urban context serves to demonstrate the exercise of such Māori legal norms in civic decision-making.

Bununla birlikte devletler de merkezi otoriteleri tarafından yerine getirilen, zaman ve kaynak kullanımı açısından büyük yük olan tapu kayıtlarının tutulması ve seçimler gibi uygulamalar için akıllı sözleşmeleri kullanmaya başlamayı planlamaktadır. The struggle among various ethnic groups socially forms ethnic stratification and contestation discourse. This article aims to explore Tidung movement as native inhabitants, but marginalised minority in order to get involved in the struggle of power relations in Pulau Sebatik which has been dominated by migrants. The study indicates that as minority group, Tidung people is stereotyped by other ethnic group as lazy, slow, less educated, and under develop. These marginalised them in many aspects of life, particularly in economics, politics, land tenure. In responding to this, Tidung people establish a movement to develop symbolic investation strategy, so that they have a space in rhe struggle of power relations in Pulau Sebatik. The movement unites sub-ethnic Tidung, namely Sebuku, Sembakung, dan Sesayap by establishing FKWT - Forum Komunikasi Warga Tidung (Communication Forum of Tidung People) and LAT - Lembaga Adat Tidung (Customary Institution of Tidung) in order to legitimate their power as indigeneous people. Then, customary forest is claimed as the symbol to gain their right for forest management. They also gain prestige by getting involved in the border conflict between Malaysia and Indonesia through which they can show that they contribute in maintaining state sovereignity.

Рад представља структуру османског опширног пописног дефтера (tapu tahrir defteri) за Смедеревски санџак из 1741. године. Након опсежне уводне студије о дефтерологији и посткласичној дефтерологији, извршено је поређење са осталим познатим студијама из исте научне области. Истакнуто је да је сам дефтер настао по класичном моделу, али се сугерише и да је порески систем морао кореспондирати са правилима посткласичне дефтерологије, односа земљишне површине и одређеног квалитета, као основним параметрима приликом одређивања пореског оптерећења, уз могућност фиктивности архивске грађе. На основу студије случаја, издвојен је порески образац, представљен оригинални документ, одговарајућа транслитерација и превод. Уз детаљна објашњења појединих пореских обавеза и указивање на њихову сагласност са османским пореским системом, указује се на разлике у приступима две свеске дефтера (под архивски сигнатурама TTD 17 и TTD 18), разне варијације и структуру и врсту додатних пореза.

Fisioterapi sebagai salah satu bentuk pengobatan menggunakan metoda latihan dan peralatan khusus agar pasien dapat memulihkan, mempertahankan, dan meningkatkan kemampuan fisiknya. Kegiatan ini dapat dipergunakan untuk menngobati atau preventif terhadap penyakit tertentu. Masa pandemi telah mendorong aktifitas manusia yang meminimalisir kontak. Kondisi ini perlu diantispasi untuk kegiatan pengobatan fisioterapis. Penggunaan teknologi dapat menjawab kebutuhan tersebut. Dalam penelitian ini dibangun sebuah sistem konsultasi fisioterapis dan informasi terkait kesehatan fisik dengan menggunakan teknologi informasi. Teknologi yang dipakai adalah membangun sebuah aplikasi mobile. Hasil pengembangan sudah diuji coba dan survey memberikan hasil kepuasan pengguna.
