Abstract:
Paveikslų ciklą – „Iš tamsos“ – galima būtu apibūdinti kaip savotišką pasakojimą – atskleidžiantį mano pasąmonės klodus, manyje vyraujantį pasaulį, mano jausmus ir išgyvenimus, darbai yra kupini simbolių, perkeltinių prasmių, metaforų ... Tai tarsi filosofinė pasaka, koncentruojanti dėmesį į pateikiamus personažus, judesį, kompoziciją nuotaiką, koloritą, tekstūras, toninius perejimus, verčianti gilintis į šių faktorių reikšmę bendrai darbo visumai. Savo darbų atlikimui pasirinkau šilkografijos techniką. Esminis darbų atlikimo procesas – per specialiai paruoštas klišes (šilkografiniai tinklai padengti specialia šviesai jautruma turinti emulsija),ant popieriaus dengiamas tam tikrų dažų sluoksnis. Tai ilgas ir labai kruopštus darbas, reikalaujantis daug pastangų laiko ir kantrybes, bet tuo pačiu metu suteikiantis labai turtingą meninį, grafinį vaizdą, kuris manau būtinas, kuriant išskirtinius darbus.
Main purpose of my work was to create twelve images, transpierced with symbols, codes and magic realism. In my pictures I tried to hit a creatures of my imagination ore my dreams. I hope that my imagery will turn in to a creative dialogue between me and viewer…All twelve pictures done in silkscreen technology. I think that this technology gives picture unusual feeling and unexpectedness... All my pictures done using CMYK colour palette. CMYK short for cyan, magenta, yellow, and black, and often referred to as process color or four color is a subtractive color model, used in color printing, also used to describe the printing process itself. The CMYK model works by partially or entirely masking certain colors on the typically white background (that is, absorbing particular wavelengths of light). Such a model is called subtractive because inks “subtract” brightness from white.

After Indian independence in 1947, longstanding regional movements centered on language pushed forward the demands for the reorganization of the British state structure along linguistic lines. One of the most vocal regional movements in the 1950s was the Samyukta Maharashtra, or United Maharashtra movement. This dissertation argues that the development of sound films, or talkies as they were popularly described, were critical for the creation of Marathi regional political movements. In 1932 the Prabhat Film Company released the first Marathi talkie, Ayodhyecha Raja. For the next three decades, with a lull during World War II, Marathi filmmakers released films that put forward a vision of the Marathi speakers as a people, connected to the land of Maharashtra. Films, by reaching the sizable illiterate population of the region, were a powerful political medium. This dissertation takes an interdisciplinary approach, drawing upon the methodologies of history, anthropology, and film studies. Historians of twentieth century India have not used film extensively, yet it is a cultural medium that has important social and political ramifications. Given the lack of historical research carried out on films in South Asia, I use various methods to shed light on the formation of a Marathi regional consciousness. Between 1930 and 1960, Marathi regional consciousness shifted from an elite literary sphere to a popular sphere. A Marathi consciousness, which was once largely the terrain of the intellectual elite, became, through the medium of film, the possession of a broad Marathi public. This study uses popular culture to examine the region’s social and political history during one of the most politically tumultuous times of the twentieth century

Abstract:
The language in its integral links is related to human intelligence. It helps to restore the picture of the world of the human mind. The perception of the world, or the objective reality of things and effects that leaves the marks in speech, is so called the worldview of the language. Each language has its own perception of the world conected to the nation's history, geographic conditions, lifestyle, culture and so on. The worldview of the language is step by step composed by all who speak that language. Using the investigation method and analysing the usage of the words in texts helps to record and denote the features of the worldview of the language. The research materials are the Corpus of Lithuanian language – Donelaitis and the corpus of Russian language - ruscorpora.ru (национальный корпус русского языка). The data of the analysis of the concept darkness in both languages showed that prototypically darkness is understood in the same way in Lithuanian and Russian languages. The research of the samples was done to denote the most common figurative expressions and conceptual metaphors that are specific to the concepts of darkness in Lithuanian and Russian languages. The aim of the present master‘s thesis “ Darkness in the Lithuanian/Russian Worldview ” focuses on the analysis of theoretical issues of the term concept, and the empirical part focuses on the investigation of concepts of darkness as prototypical meanings (lack of light at night... Abstract:
The semiarid regions of Ethiopia are exposed to anthropogenic and natural calamities. In this study, we assessed the relationship between Tropical Applications of Meteorology using Satellite data (TAMSAT) and MODIS Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) data for the period 2000 to 2014 on decadal and annual basis using multivariate distributed lag (DL) models. Decadal growing season (June to September) values for kaftahumera were calculated from MODIS NDVI data. The growing season NDVI values are highly correlated with the precipitations during the whole study period. A lag of up to 30 days observed in most parts of our study region in which the rainfall has effects on vegetation growth after 40 days. The lag-time effects vary with the distribution of land use types and seasons. A lower correlation was observed in the woodland regions where significant deforestation occurred due to expansion of croplands. The loss in vegetation contributed to the low biomass production attributable to extended loss in vegetation cover.

Abstract:
It seems to be obvious that precipitation has a major impact on greening during the rainy season in semi-arid regions. First results1 imply a strong dependence of NDVI on rainfall. Therefore it will be necessary to consider specific rainfall events besides the known ordinary annual cycle. Based on this fundamental idea, the paper will introduce the development of a rain adjusted vegetation index (RAVI). The index is based on the enhancement of the well-known normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI2) by means of TAMSAT rainfall data and includes a 3-step procedure of determining RAVI. Within the first step both time series were analysed over a period of 29 years to find best cross correlation values between TAMSAT rainfall and NDVI signal itself. The results indicate the strongest correlation for a weighted mean rainfall for a period of three months before the corresponding NDVI value. Based on these results different mathematical models (linear, logarithmic, square root, etc.) are tested to find a functional relation between the NDVI value and the 3-months rainfall period before (0.8). Finally, the resulting NDVI-Rain-Model can be used to determine a spatially individual correction factor to transform every NDVI value into an appropriate rain adjusted vegetation index (RAVI).

Abstract:

The tetralogy of tchicaya's novels is a vast panorama of the congolese society before and after the declarations of independance of the african countries. To the numerous historical indications judiciously disseminated and unequally divided up throughout the four volumes, the author has added an ethnological dimension of the traditions and customs of the vili people from whom stem his origins. A chequered style of writing privileges the amalgame of literary genre, articulating around a multiplicity of point of views through delinearary and confused structure heralds the "new wave" of african novelists (since 1968) to which tchicaya belongs, in spite of his long presence on the literary scene of the african continent (since 1955)

Abstract:

Crismani, Wayne Matthew. "Whole genome approaches to identify genes involved in early meiosis." Thesis, 2009. http://hdl.handle.net/2440/61142.

Full text
Abstract:
Meiosis is a process which occurs in sexually reproducing organisms to halve the genetic complement prior to fertilisation. During meiosis a single round of DNA replication is followed by two successive rounds of chromosome segregation and cell division. The meiotic pathway in plants is complex from multiple perspectives. From a mechanical view; prior to the first meiotic division the chromosomes must replicate during meiotic interphase, then while retaining sister chromatid cohesion the homologous chromosomes must align, physically synapse and also concomitantly recombine (with the majority of sites being non-randomly positioned). Further complexities arise in allopolyploids such as bread wheat, which contains three very similar genomes from slightly diverged progenitors. Despite having homoeologous chromosomes present in the same nucleus, bread wheat displays diploid-like behaviour during meiosis I. Such an involved physical process as meiosis also has complexity reflected in the transcriptome and proteome, whether the organism be a simple eukaryote such as yeast, or a more complex eukaryote such as bread wheat. Initially, this study utilised whole genome approaches to identify novel genes that could be involved in early meiosis, focusing on bread wheat in particular. Analysis of the wheat meiotic transcriptome over seven stages of anther development identified at least 1,350 transcripts which displayed meiotic regulation. The expression profiles of a subset of selected transcripts were analysed with Q-PCR and found to correlate strongly to those obtained in the microarray. Available meiotic transcriptome data from rice was compared to the wheat data, which enabled the identification of similar sequences, many previously unidentified, which also displayed meiotic regulation. Selected candidate genes from the microarray study were also mapped in bread wheat. This data was combined with available literature and approximately 70% of candidate meiotic loci were located on chromosome group 3 or 5, which historically has been shown to contain multiple loci involved in chromosome pairing control. One of the candidates located on chromosome group 3, a plant-specific mismatch repair gene, Triticum aestivum MSH7 (TaMSH7), has previously been speculated to suppress homoeologous chromosome associations. Independent transgenic wheat plants produced using RNA interference (RNAi) were functionally characterised to ascertain a greater understanding of the role TaMSH7 has during early meiosis in bread wheat. Localisation of a synaptonemal complex-associated protein (TaASY1) displayed subtle abnormalities in these mutants when compared to wild-type. Feulgen staining of meiotic chromosomes at metaphase I in these mutants revealed some interlocking and multivalent associations. These results suggest that TaMSH7 may be linked to the mechanism underlying the phenotype that is observed in the ph2a/ph2b mutant, however further research still needs to be conducted to conclusively demonstrate that this is the case. A component of the research presented in this study was performed in the model plant Arabidopsis thaliana due to the limitations of bread wheat. Extensive mutant banks and a sequenced genome have aided a decade of meiotic research in Arabidopsis and the identification of close to 50 meiotic genes. One of these, AtMER3, has been shown to control the non-random location of well above half of the recombination events that occur in many species. AtMER3 was localised in meiotic nuclei in wild-type Arabidopsis and found to form foci on freshly synapsed regions of chromosomes in quantities far in excess of the average number of crossovers, indicating that AtMER3 does not localise exclusively to sites of crossovers. AtMER3 localisation was also analysed in several mutant backgrounds and found to act in an AtSPO11-dependent manner. However, AtMER3 loading onto meiotic chromosomes was not affected in Atrad51, Atdmc1 or Atmsh5 mutant backgrounds.

The motive of this research is based on personal experiences and sensations of a researcher about Tamsui. The main purpose of this research is to make deep discussions and inquiries about the experience and the memory of this place. Tamsui has been found a place full of fine texture through a long term observation. In the Macro-scope, “The moonlight shines down on the sandbar, fishing port arranged by shadows of dikes”, which is a representation of the eight important landscapes of Tamsui, revealing especially the atmosphere of the environment. Due to the transition of time, the identification of this place not only was changed, but also the texture has disappeared, in the process of the old eight important landscapes of Tamsui from the new ones. As time passes, the experience of body turns into the memory of space. The nature of place has been hidden and ignored due to the influence of external environment. This research is based on the thinking process of European Rationalism. It has established a set of viewpoints of typology about the phenomenon of place in Tamsui and based on accumulative and vanishing incidents which occurred on time scale as factors for the thinking process of the design work. About feeling, memory, time, form, and type, it takes mainly the analogy as technique to be the blueprint of design and existing viewpoints about the phenomenon of place as the main discussing subject. There are four stages from small to large in design work structure. First stage is to take the interfaces of Tamsui architecture as working subjects. The Kuang-Yin Mountain, which plays an important “opening” of Tamsui residential space, is researched in interface for finding characters of a space; in addition, it has attempted to respond and reappear “the texture in memory”. The second stage, is trying to look for residual traces in space, which have a great connection with activities in the place. In this stage, they do this by operating walls in order to respond “hiding traces” in the place. The goal in the third stage is trying to reappear “past experiences of Tamsui”. Having to return “the passing local spirit” through the recognition of films and the dialectical of space and discuss the relation and the meaning of the form, the meaning of material, and the experience of perception by phenomenology. “Reconstruction of the passing experiences of place in the way of form” is responded in this stage. In the last stage, the work of analogous Tamsui is explored through the observation and analysis in the previous stages. The design is based on theories of Aldo Rossi: analogous city and Drift Theater. The work of analogous thinking is by memory, form, and atmosphere. Lastly, emphasis is applied on the nature of the material and the architecture spirit to respond poetics of space in the place. In this research, the analogy for “eternal” Tamsui can not be directly responded. This can be done only through elevating one’s perception to the level of memory, and therefore establishing the texture can’t be felt directly by experience.

In urban cities where the rivers and city interact with each other, which led to the phenomenon of fluctuation and regeneration. Tamsui, which located at a Superior geographic position, enables the city become more popular. And most importantly because of the existence of Tamsui River, the city is endowed with unique cultural developments, arts of humanities and abundant historical resources. Despite the facts that there are distinct highlights of developments in different period for the city, the influence of Tamsui River cannot be denied. Therefore, in this research, I will show you how the rivers and the cities affect each other from the perspective of relative theories. Then explore the potentials of development of Tamsui city through the concept of creative cities. In this research, the researcher adopt semi-structured interviews, After analyzing the context of the interviews , the major findings are; 1) Tamsui River has affected the development of Tamsui; 2) the development is permanent, and the residents of Tamsui hope that the city can show more its features with the connection of Tamsui River; 3) after the formation of the Taipei metropolitan area, Tamsui city are facing the problem between new coming and original residents. It might be a crisis, or an opportunity. By the interviewees’ various ideas, the researcher classified the advantages and the disadvantages of developing Tamsui city. And through the triangulation, the researcher analyzed what the locals expected to see for their future city. Finally, the researchers used the methods of scenario analysis to present the possibilities of the city. They are "golden cage", "waterfront vacation villa", "wisdom Fair" and "world heritage" four future images.

The original motive of this research begins by venturing into Tamsui’s footpaths. Many of these footpaths still retain some of the more traditional heritages, which offer a delicate touch to the landscape. Following completion of the Tamsui MRT (Mass Rapid Transit System) line, it has provided a much easier accessibility to Tamsui for everyone. Travel magazines have run many articles in depicting the city’s “old street”. Areas within the vicinity have transformed into a hub for business and leisure activities. In the wake of the Tamsui New Town development, one can easily see the various real estate projects popping up along the roads from Taipei to Tamsui. From the famous island of Santorini to Italy’s Tuscany, developers are trying to make up Tamsui into a city filled with an exotic atmosphere. However, from the standpoint for the “sense of place”, the “look and feel” is evolving into more like a reading process. In contrast to the way it is perceived through our own eyes, the other ways of representation differ a great deal. This research begins by observing the significant differences between the media’s illustration of Tamsui and the way it actually is. The variations are closely looked into, where the city’s inner aspects are delineated from the design work. The overall layout of the design work section is divided into several categories: 1. Initial design of the operating objects (material collected onsite / associated relationship). 2. Response to the site status (direct / indirect). 3. Intensity of indication these footpaths (visible / low profile). 4. Places linked by the design works. These design themes originate mostly from onsite observations, where the procedure is summarized as follows. Firstly, research of the site and the material operation by object study. Secondly, study of the units for the wall, which subsequently develops into the spatial scale of a building. Finally, operations are conducted via both computer hardware and software, testing a new dimension of the surface tectonic. The design works mainly explore the sense of the spatial experience, which along with the inherent qualities of an area, and trying to represent the aura of the environment. Through the design works on the site, different methods are used in connecting the roads and footpaths of Tamsui, where the map of urban image can be further developed, especially in segments with less vitality. The identification of these paths (shortcuts) can further help distinguish the difference between Tamsui and other “packaged” locations. Against this backdrop, it is hoped that this study will allow us to know how to better embrace our environment.

As society progresses, changes in life are being constantly accelerated and amplified. With the increasing importance of vision, the concept of place shaped by senses other than vision is fading away. However, what truly impresses us is not just visual experience. The touch of a brick wall, smell of mud and sound of rain, all these experiences affect everything in our life. In this study, we ponders the nature of the architecture at Tamsui (formerly known as Hoba)by places and atmospheres, where the most primordial interaction with the space and even the environment was restored via a non-visual perception (sensory and perceptual) way. In the beginning of the study, we first thought about the relationship between architecture and non-visual perception by reading theories on place and atmosphere (e.g. Norberg-Schulz''s Genius Loci, Peter Zumter’s atmospheres), and inspired by relevant design cases, understood how to construct a non-visual space through thinking of place and atmosphere, and a new sight relationship, a perceived link between body and place in the architectural space of different scales. Based on the above study, we put ourselves in the place to rediscover non-visual elements in Tamsui (Hoba). Seven towers (which have the significance of connecting the upper and the lower, or the heaven and the earth) stand for different places (waterside, alleys, stairs, trees, etc.) in Tamsui, which reproduce the local non-visual landscape such as water, wind, temperature and sound, and seven articles, which represent non-visual experience –Per-seeing Tamsui – by linking personal feelings to seven spots. In this study, a bridge between senses and places is provided for an increasingly visual and excessively direct world, and an opportunity was taken by us to re-think and create another possibility for the architecture. The construction of non-visual landscape wakes up our senses, thoughts and memories, leads us back to the lifestyle closest to the land, and makes our living space a spirit of place where is self-evident and meaningful.

The aim of this thesis is to express the local feelings of love and care by the oil painting creation named “Painting Tamsui Writing Tamsui”.The primary motive of this discourse came from the experience and memory of my growing process, along with the abundance and goodness of life after settling in Tamsui. A strong sense of affection and contribution to the native soil were then aroused, additionally with my anticipation of self-realization in the field of art. Thereby, the purpose of it is to deliver my sentiments toward Tamsui’s diverse culture, to record the unique faces of Tamsui, the hive of cultural activities, and to enrich creative representation based on the subject of Tamsui. In the aspect of grounded theory analysis, the literature reviews for Tamsui’s natural environment, history, ecological environment, culture and customs, in addition to seven inspiring Tamsui’s artists, are provided as a source of an inspiration and academic basis which internalizes and molds the concept and the style of my creation. In terms of the ideas of my creation, the touching moments of life, the care of native culture, and the power of visual learning are included; all of the feelings are expected to deliver to the audience and strike a chord in their hearts by building the ambiances and presenting exquisite technique in the artworks. Strong emotions for Tamsui’s natural scenery, history, culture and customs are the elements and subject of this creation; for each artwork, the concept, form, and technique are analyzed. Finally, the entire creating process is reviewed; also the creative performance and responses are rendered. An objective analysis of audiences’ feedback gathered in the gallery’s interactive area will be used to reflect on the purpose of this study, and moreover, to introspect myself and my future prospects.

The original motive of this research begins with the researcher''s personal memory of long years of living experiences and feelings towards the Tamsui area, in an attempt to further explore and discuss the territoriality of space experience as well as characteristics that would proceed in linking together the features of regional space, sense of location and personal memory experience. Regarding to the approach of this research, it is more inclined to use the Rationalism thinking manner by first focusing on Tamsui as a "base" to establish objective information gathering, sort general category viewpoints and by referring to the settling on the time scale and accumulation of deviant factors as a dialectical point for the upcoming design work. Here, time, memory and phenomenology form of existential viewpoint becomes the subject for further discussion. The far-reaching Tamsui River and Guan-Yin Mountain''s relatively large scale in comparing to the location - Tamsui provides the viewer a sense of insignificant self existence, the increase of sense and perception as well as terms of purification. The pace of the time factor here in the space appears to be slower, which to some kind of degree accomplished to progress the memory aspect into a more clear and powerful image. From here, the European Neo-Rationalism architecture regards the style, typology, time memory and the operational techniques of analogous images as reference methods. Also, as one of the branch under the traditional Rationalism thinking, the work of Neo-Rationalism provides mild objective conditional factors and subjective conscious opportunity which would become a possible mode for the following design work. There are three stages in the design work section. The first stage is to take the traditional historic buildings and architectural styles as working subjects and use Laugier''s "Primitive Hutl" as the prototype of space for the framework, as to start exploring the territoriality of space characteristics that would attempt to respond and reconstruct "the collective memory of Tamsui". This stage of work can be viewed as "the substantiareconstruction of abstract regional experience". The second stage is the attempt to reconstruct "topographical Tamsui", by regarding to the abstract regional experience feelings in striving for the re-development of design works, with the support of phenomenology viewpoints to discuss the relations between material, form, space and experience. This stage of work can be viewed as "the abstract style of regional experience reconstruction". The last stage is called "Analogous Tamsui", in taking Aldo Rossi''s Analogous City theory and “floating theatre” work as an example and through further combination between vocabulary style of analogous work, materials and the deduction development of building experience in order to let the form, memory and analogous, materials as well as building integration to be closer to poetic projection. Through this projection of elevating one''s feeling and memory of space, it is to respond to the sense of existence towards the regional space experience, and to satisfy local memory interaction and the aesthetic of tectonics.

This study is to examine the phenomenon of nitrification of the river where is effected by saline. Organic nitrogen, nitrate, nitrite, and ammonia concentrations, pH and vss were periodically measured during the experiment. Because nitrification is biological reaction that is executed by the bacteria of Nitrosomonas and Nitrobacter, the growth rate of the microorganisms control the rate of the nitrification. Then we use the kinetics of biological growth to invest the nitrification in the river and apply Monod’s theory to imitate the processes. By this way, the growth rate change of Nitrosomonas and Nitrobacter are also gotten with salinity.

ABSTRACT The purpose of this study is to simulate the sediment transport near Tamshi Fisher’s Wharf under the influence of tide, wind and wave effect. Previous studies usually used the mean value boundary condition for computation. However in order to make the simulation closer to the real data ,this study applies time observation series data of wave and wind as boundary condition. These observation data collect from ”Oceanographical Observation Data-Annual Report 2009” and “2010” ,which were published from HARBOR &; MARINE TECHNOLOGY CENTER. This study extends simulation period from one month to three months. This study uses MIKE 21 numerical model, which consists of hydrodynamic module, nearshore spectral wind-wave module and sediment transport module. The wave, current and sediment transport field are calculated and compare with field data. These results show that the sediment transport field are active and sand erosion take place in winter, and opposite in summer. Lower flow velocity and smaller wave cause small amount of sand deposition on port and the south boundary in M3 domain. And in addition, the sand gathers along with the sea side of Tamshi Fisher’s Wharf ’s jetty especially at the sea side of the west jetty. Where is the future of historic districts? It is a space problem worth deliberating for Taiwan, a country that is undergoing rapid transformation. Men’s fickle in affection has resulted in congestion of new structures in this artificial urban environment. The renovations neglecting overall environmental context has gradually eroded the human nature of neighborhood once existed in livelihood. This research analyzes the monumental contextual composition of space in attempt to probe a different perspective in spatial quality and reassess all collective remembrances that are possibly omitted or devastated under the rationality of urban planning. The remembrances of life accumulated by time is the intrinsic identity of the artificial environment, and through an affective aura, as opposing to the hard exterior of structures, cognitive foundation of ideal space in our perception is constructed, and the reality we eagerly pursue is truthfully affected and reflected. The methodology of this research initiates with identification and ‘positioning’ of the remembrance and space scattered throughout the historic districts, so ‘identity’ of the selected space can gradually emerge; along with periodic traditional celebrations, the locality of the environment is expected to be reinforced, and the remembrance and identification of the lives in those districts embedded in our hearts can be recalled. Then, the concept of ‘diachrony’ is introduced to search for synchronous mechanism integrating the modern life and historic districts. In an era where creation leads to destruction, it is necessary for men to respect and preserve the traces of environment that is filled with ancient memories, and extract the intelligence that can improve the existing spatial quality. The ‘familiarity’ from the past allows us to face the changes today with ease, and ‘contrast’ facilitates our recognition of future direction and values of today.

This study investigates the case of tourism in Tamsui, and the complexity in the structure of tourism. As the society transforms, Tamsui, accompanied by the completion of the Metropolitan Rapid Transit System (MRT), is deeply influenced by tourism, which has become an important role. Driven by the impact of this rapid change, various shops, local communities, residents, tourists, and public departments in Tamsui have structured a display of great diversity. Tourism is formed through continuity of accumulation and development. Thus, the study investigates into the history of Tamsui of the recent decades as the study background. Colonization and development of foreign culture have brought Tamsui the indispensable space experience, and have left Tamsui the potential for tourism. Tourists and shops are related to each other in the development of tourism. While tourists purchase in the space structured by shops, shops are challenged through the purchases made by tourists. To avoid tourism being a symbol of commercial activities, the behavior of tourism is the key to change. Through the construction of the sharing daily activities, as well as the celebrations and festivals, a mutual cognition among tourists and residents is established. For example, the Tamsui River Bank renew project which is effective in a respect of tourism development, utilizes the space management strategy and thus establishes a mutual cognition. A thorough space management strategy can create not only a series of the unique activities, festivals but also industries. Therefore, it still takes a duration of time for the development in Tamsui and the mutual understanding to be established through day-to-day activities. Tourism is not totally equal to commercialization, whose effect is only one of the mechanisms of the market. Instead, tourism is an approach of the practice of the ideals, and at the same time being able to protect the environment and to enhance the quality of life effectively. Taking the unique space experience as the basic tone and developing a variety of local strategies, Tourism has become a long-lasting industry in the local structure.

Based on Giddens’ structuration theory, this study analyzes the development and changes in Tamsui Sharon Beach. This study is divided into two parts. One is to analyze groups with authoritative resources; another is to analyze the confining resources of environment. The finding is that the group holding the management rights of the Sharon Beach, could be the key factor to determine whether the Beach would open or not. However, the changing nature of confining resources and the attitudes of structural group can affect the beach’s development as well. Among the groups who affect the development of the beach, Tamsui township government has the right to operate the beach in the first two periods (defined by this study), so it exercised a decisive influence about beach management. Tamsui town council only has the right to question Tamsui township government. When the two groups have different opinions, the town council would usually make concession. Taipei County government had operating rights in the third age, and started to plan for a new development of the area. Due to the structural limits of different periods, the effective groups are different. As part of the confining resources, transportation and accessibility, laws and regulations, planning objectives, and local politics are all significant in determining the operation of the beach. As a newly restructured government, Taipei County Government takes over the management of the beach, and plans to transform it into a creatively cultural park. By so doing, the Sharon beach may become a tourism destination again. The change of structural resources continues to influence the beach. The beach has been stagnant in its way to become a cultural park, although the author believes the beach may enter into a new phase of development given enough drives of the New Taipei County Government.

Beiguan is one of the main traditional music in Taiwan; and the Beiguan ensembles are the most valuable power in the general society in Taiwan. To discover and discuss the development and history of Beiguan ensembles is a way to understand not only the development of traditional drama, but the leisure and living style of the people in the early Taiwan society. Moreover, the history of Beiguan ensemble shows the close relationships between them and the local development. Tamsui was the biggest harbor in northern Taiwan; the flourishing business has brought the thriving of traditional drama. Since Japanese colonization, the activities of Beiguan ensembles in Tamsui have been very prosperous. “Tamsui Xuan,” “Ho-yi Xuan” and “Nan-bei Xuan” were the three main ensembles in that time. These three groups influenced indirectly on the development of Beiguan in other places as well. This thesis discusses the relationships between Beiguan ensembles and their localities by studying the local records. The history reveals the traditional drama’s thread of development in Tamsui. For comprehending the history and the current situation, the writer of the thesis learns Beiguan music personally and investigates deeply into the field so that to realize the inner meaning of Beiguan ensembles to the locality. The count book analysis in this thesis also presents how Beiguan ensembles adjust and transit themselves in the changing of the modern society. For providing a clearer outline for researchers in the future, this thesis intends to make a comprehensive record for the Beiguan ensembles and their developments in Tamsui, therefore, to accentuate the importance and significance of Beiguan ensembles to their localities.

The motivation of the thesis started from researcher''s personal affection of You-He Book, a second-floor bookshop near Tamsui River, in which a poetry glass wall covered with works of the poet friends stands between outdoor and indoor space. Every sense of a poet''s vibration has left trace to Tamsui; the text on the poetry wall accompanying the landscape of Tamsui River, pouring narrative, and remaining legacy of word phrases in Tamsui. The portrait in the writing and the poem sets a new launch of an anticipation of awakening or establishing imagination of sensation in local places; by literary impressibility, the writing could be treated as a kind of fantasized experience of Tamsui. In this research, the literary impressibility which based on Critical Regionalism forms the spirit of study. First, describing hidden words of Tamsui in the soul with the creation of calligraphic poem. Questing for concealed text by dialectical thinking of image and text; illustrating place contour by exquisite specialty of writing in spatial reception and cognition. Afterward, establishing a Tamsui text category through Chinese character classification with deliberation of the meanings of characters in local place is important aspect for this research. The design of this research has experimented the literary and spatial impressibility in three stages. In the first stage, the exploration mainly focus on Tamsui characters by composing poems as an implement of designing experimentation; to exhibit an attempt of responding the re-deliberate toward Tamsui literary space, the scheme base has framed by the drawing Ceci n''est pas une pipe of Rene Magritte, in which the concealed literary impressibility could be explored between lines. In the second stage, to reveal an intention of reflecting text with environmental occurrence, constructing the designs with “The Six Methods” which has initiated different Chinese characters with observation and classification, as well as quoting the viewpoint of Phenomenology and Critical Regionalism to precede a systematic classification of Tamsui script. In the final stage, searches for different locations of Tamsui with the reconsideration of subordinate object design, and imports the writing phantom into formalization. By individual emotion-projection and memorial reception, this research shaping the text-of-place with the regional impression —forming spaces by Chinese character and ‘The Six Methods’.

Tamsui played a important role in Taiwan''s history of past development. It started its era of prosperity and development by the river trade. After the siltation in the Tamsui River, it became a well-known scenic in Taiwan because of the beautiful landscape of riverbank. In recent years, due to the development of Danhai new town, it developed to a different realm. Natural and human factors makesTamsui developed into different types of Taipei. Each district in Tamsui also developed into significant different realm The determinants of housing price are many, including the residential environment as well as the home itself. Many of the determinants has a different effect. It’s not clear that which factors has bigger influence and the directions and degree of these influences. No research can make a constant conclusion. Taking Tamsui for example, collected the data from Department of Land Administration. Explore those factors which can affect the housing prices in Tamsui, finding the directions and degree of its impact. Try to divided Tamsui into different areas to analyze if different environmental factors will make the factors affecting housing price changes. The results showed that, when taking the whole town, location does matter. Other as road width, if face road, total floors, and house area have significant positive effects. But structure, housing age, housing area have significant negative impact. And height and residential areas is not significant. When taking partition, factors found to affect house prices will be influenced by the environment. Housing structures has the same impact direction across regions, but significantly level differs. Road width, height, total floor, residential area have different impact direction and degree. Only whether face road, house age, land area, and housing area have same impact direction and similar degree in the significant level.

In Taiwan there are cabins, sheds or cottages build by workers and inhabitants on their own for the use of agriculture, forestry or dwelling. Tamsui-Dan Chiya Ponhg located near the Tamsui estuary is a conspicuous example. The primary purpose of this research is to record details of the structures from various angles as far as possible because the structures are likely dismantled in the factor of that they are old and shabby or moves of working places. Secondly, the purpose is to re-evaluate these micro architectures by the standards such as independency, sustainability and recyclable, as requested in the 21st-century architecture. Factors affecting the types of architectures on Tamsui River system may include social-economic conditions, migration between cities and countryside, memories of homeland and postwar migration, however, the common characteristic is that the inhabitants’ attitude toward the environment of the river and the process of accommodation between the inhabitants and natural environment. Combining different social and historical backgrounds of inhabitants with the interaction between inhabitants and natural environment finally result in subtle adjustment and distinct types of micro architectures. This research perceives the Tamsui River system in its entirety, and examines how individual cluster from the head to the bottom of the river is relative to the riverside environment. In this case, we will understand further how Tamsui-Dan Chiya Ponhg located on BI ZAI TOU emerges by Tamsui River downstream and construct its rationality and uniqueness. Traditional and low-tech technologies do not always have positive meanings and functions for the environment. If there is something worth to learn from traditional and low-tech technologies, it may be the thinking about how humans harmonize with environments and how architecture blends into a cycle. Furthermore, in this case study it is found that Tamsui-Dan Chiya Ponhg is not a copy of Guandong- Dan Chiya Ponhg. Instead, Tamsui-Dan Chiya Ponhg is a result of cumulative selection based on its conditions by maintaining a dynamic balance between humans and environment, and eventually evolves as a local architecture type.

Abstract The ROC Coast Guard plans to build a north patrol station at Taipei harbor before 2011. Regional current information in the nearby waters at Tamsui river mouth becomes important for the purpose. This research applied the data in “2003 Annual Report for Harbors” and data of stake at Tamsui river mouth listed in the report “On Sand Drift and Oceanographic- meteorological-topographical Changes at Coast from Bali to Linkou for Four Years” by the Harbor and Marine Technology Center. The monthly, seasonal and annual current speeds and directions are tabulated and graphed to analyze their various links to wind speeds and wind directions. Results are in several aspects. The mean current speeds is much greater than the speeds of mean flows. The mean current speeds tend to slow down from spring to summer. The maximum of monthly maximal current speeds of a year seems not much attributed to typhoons. The maximal wind speeds do not necessarily produce the maximal current speeds. Monthly mean current speeds are not significantly related to monthly wind speeds. Directions of monthly mean flows are almost not linked to wind directions. Key words: ROC Coast Guard, Taipei harbor, Tamsui river mouth, mean current speeds and directions, speeds of mean flows, wind speeds and directions.

Mangrove is highly productive wetland ecosystems located at the interface between land and sea, playing an important role in the biogeochemical cycles of the coastal environment, acting as sources of nutrients to marine and terrestrial ecosystems. It has significant direct and indirect economic, ecological and social values to human being. Economic evaluation of mangrove ecosystem is important for its protection and utilizing. Based on the valuation of global ecosystem services by Costanza and Common International Classification for Ecosystem Services, this article discusse the merits and shortcomings of the methods system of valuation. Using market and non-market valuation methods to assess ecosystem services of mangrove of Damsui river. The results showed that the total value of Damsui mangrove was 23.9 billion (148 million per hectare). The direct-use value was 328 million, accounting for 1.37% of total value; the indirect-use value was 23.6 billion, accounting for 98.63%. The results indicate that the indirect-use value of mangroves exceeds direct use values. The highest proportion were water purification (54.17%) and climate regulation (42.37%). This study provides an opportunity to highlight the importance of mangrove ecosystems to the livelihoods of the local people and the urgent need to sustain these through proper policy and market interventions. However, because of the limitations of evaluation methods and index, the results may show the deviation from the true value. This can be correct by optimization of methods and index.

Estuary is located on the interface of river and sea, the morphology of estuary is influenced by the factors coming from both environments and human activities. The study intends to analyze morphological change of bank along Tamsui Estuary. The study method is conclusion and analysis. By using topographical maps, aerial photo interpretation and estuarine cross-section data, the change of estuary is mapped, and collecting environments data to discuss the relation to morphological change trend. Results show that: (1) The zone from Chuwei to Watzewei is the most abundant deposition zone in estuary , bank form change is related to channel width and lateral erosion. (2) In plane, the shoreline change trend was retreat-advance-retreat in 1904-1980.In recrent decades, the shorelines change trend on Watzewei was retreat to advance, and these on Chuwei were etreat to stable. In profile, these were erosion to slight deposition. (3)”Sediment budget lack” on estuary was primarily due to miming . After1986, the human reduced to influence on the supply of upstream sediment and the groins of Taipeiport, nearby estuary mouth, captures some terrigenous sediments. The combination of these factors made estuary deposition. Flooding was not outstanding factor to long-term morphological change . (4)The estuarine bank retreat threatened human inhabit security and made land-use landward, the erosion threat reduced after 1986.In the meanwhile, the slight deposition of banks are use for mangroves distribution.

In the past, the fire-related review and analysis of the government units in the past, often show the disaster situation by means of statistical analysis of the number of times, and the casualties, losses and causes of disasters as the main axis, can not really show the regional fire space aggregation and fire high potential Potential areas, so the policy can only mobilize the way to disaster prevention and propaganda, and can not focus on specific areas of publicity, for human and resources caused by a huge waste and not necessarily have its effect. Therefore, the statistical analysis of the fire situation in a particular area will be one of the important development directions of the fire research. The occurrence of fire has its uncertainty, its place of occurrence, time and the environment is difficult to predict, so the fire units for the prevention of fire are taken to prevent the way. Therefore, in order to improve the implementation effect of disaster prevention policy, the statistical situation of fire cases combined with the spatial coordinate function of geographic information system can draw out the distribution of fire cases and check whether the fire cases are concentrated and regular. On the other hand, the current fire rescue and prevention in Taiwan are all handled by fire units. Therefore, the choice of fire protection sites is directly related to the timeliness and service scope of fire rescue. This study is based on the existing two fire According to the point configuration, through the vehicle at the time of the disaster attendance speed and driving distance set the scope of service coverage, and then with the distribution of fire cases to understand the efficiency of the site and the allocation of the suitability. Based on the fire cases in the past three years (2014-2016), this study constructs the distribution of the fire cases with the spatial data processing of the geographic information system, and discusses the areas of the fire Fighting areas and firefighting sites to serve as a reference for future fire prevention strategies and fire location locations

Back in the 1960s, the Tamsui area, particularly the campus town around Tamkang University, was constantly charged with a liberal atmosphere of arts and radical politics. Teachers and students gathered in a student accommodation, monikered the Zoo, to express their ideas and opinions about socio-political issues through poems, lyrics, music and publications. Yet after the MRT line started operating, Tamsui has been transformed into a tourist attraction while social activism, idealism, and the ambiance of arts and literature gradually faded away. Under the impact of globalization and franchised businesses, idiosyncratic stores and spaces in the city gave in one after another. The historical and liberal town of Tamsui was no exception. Rapid development and its concurred economic upsurge has caused the large-scale replacement of historical and underused spaces by new types of commercial establishment and tourists-oriented activities, promoted by the governments. This thesis starts with the literary research and field study on LEE Shuang-Tze and the Zoo to grasp the general feel of the campus town of Tamkang University in the 1960s; along with a correlated study on the development of independent music in post-War Taiwan. The retrospection of the past is followed by the analysis of contemporary Tamsui as a dissolving locus of progressive thinking and activism. My intention is to confront the reality and reconstruct Tamsui as a spatial incubator of independent voices by employing strategies of spatial dispositif and integrating local resources My planning for ‘the Voices of the Wild’ and ‘Echo’ as the bases of independent voices is derived from a survey of the distinct social group who are associated with the living circle of the University as well as from my analysis of contemporary Tamsui. The cluster effect of idiosyncratic spaces such as independent bookstores, coffee shops, art-house cinemas, live-music venues, art galleries, secondhand bookstores, farmer market, vegetable gardens, NGO, and so on is crucial to the evolution of such incubators, yet the participation of the living community is even more indispensible. Although the government continues to develop Tamsui from the perspective of commercialization, local grassroots power and resources of the University community are under-appreciated and under–integrated. This thesis re-investigates the limited yet potent resources of independent voices and outlines a blueprint for future planning of a liberal arena echoing the call of the Zoo, in hopes that the spatial network of independent voices might weave a cultural landscape of social reform.

Before reading the , we must knowing how the landscape paintings shaping. First, we must watch the landscape, then formation the images in our mind, last we give that image a form, to transform a landscape to landscape painting. So when different people watch the same landscape, because of the effect of their image, they will draw different landscape painting. This kind of image are depended on the painter’s past experience, some scenery or landscape painting they have seen before, a text describe the landscape, those will store in the painter’a brain, become some kind of vision, to filter the incoming information from their eyes. This paper try to compare the difference between the real Tamshui landscape and the Tamshui landscape painting at the same period, and to suggest how the Tamshui landscape image shaped and what is that image. This paper will broadly divided into three periods to discuss, first period is from 17th century to 1895, before the Japenese governed Taiwan. In this period, because of the lacking the images, we use the texts described the landscapes to discuss, through knowing the identify of the texts authors, discussing the reason of the shape of the image of Tamshui landscape. The second period is from 1895 to 1927, after the Japenese bring the morden urban life style to Taiwan, Tamshui became the leisure of Taipei citizen, through the Taipei Eight Views and the New Taiwan Eight Views, and what kind of role Tamshui played in those Views, this paper try to find the reason that the images of Tamshui shaped. The last period is from 1927 to 1945, we will discuss the different kind of Tamshui landscpae painting in Taiwan Fine Art Exhibition, Taiwan Fine Art Exhibition is a branch of Empire Imperial Academy of Fine Arts Exhibition in Japan, so we will look at the interactions of drawing activity in Taiwan and Japan, to discuss the reasons the the shaping of typical and atypical Tamshui landscape painting.

In 21st century, modern cities shine on the stage of the world. The competitions among global cities shift from “quantity” aspect to “quality” aspect—to become the most creative cities that emphasize the local culture’s characteristic, and the union of the civil strength to stand out conspicuously by the connection with the international trail. Therefore, cultural creativity and creativity economy of the city become the new concept that recreates its financial capability and promotes its competence. As a result, becoming a “creative city” is an effective way to market the city. The Flagship Project presented by Taipei County Government is the foresight and core idea of the whole “creative city” project, expecting to promote and develop Tamsui into a creative city. Since becoming a creative city is the foresight and the core idea of the Flagship Project, the absolute definition of “creative city” should be defined first instead of following the principles of western city developments blindly. The concepts of creative city must be built up to promote effectively afterwards. Although the Flagship Project by Taipei County Government regard becoming a creative city as its foresight and core idea, however, under the prerequisite of developing through this goal, what will Tamsui change in the future? Hence, Tamsui has diversification in the future when developing. For this reason, the goal of this research is to interpret of creative city by Tamsui, and analyze the future possibilities how Tamsui develops to a creativity city and make it as an example for the future. First, through the interpretations of creative city concept by the interviewees, the researcher builds up a set of meanings to comprehend the suitable definition of creative city for Tamsui. Next, by Tamsui’s historical background and the development which turns to quality from the quantity plans, generalizing the advantages of Tamsui to develop into a creative city. Then, generalize the core value that how Tamsui develops into a creative city from related data and the interview content. Finally, integrate and analyze the viewpoints and the opinions about creative city of Tamsui from the interviewees, depicting future images concerning the future development of the creative city of Tamsui.

Landscape is the medium between humanity and nature, also self and other. Through artistic creation, landscape can be reproduced as a cultural product. Work of art crystallizes the cultural significance of landscape. Throughout the history of art, aesthetic analysis of landscape painting is not few, but most of the analysis does not explore the connection with history, culture and life. The study focuses on the elements of history, culture and life in the landscape of Tamsui, tracks the historical context from the colonial period to post-war Taiwan, and observes the way landscape becomes a cultural product and a work of art. It reviews the correlation between social change and cultural significance and discusses various discourses on landscape, visual space and artistic creation, to comprehend the meaning of landscape used in artistic creation. The thesis is concerned with four Taiwanese painters and their works. Their works span four artistic epochs: 1895 to 1945, 1945 to 1970, 1970 to 1990, and 1990 to 2000, representing different social realities and developmental stages in the history of Taiwanese art, while they all use landscape as the central motif for their creation. 陳澄波’s resistance to national identity in colonized Taiwan is remarkable. His imagination primarily rests on southern Taiwan, and his works portray the landscape during urban planning. 陳慧坤 is tormented with ideological clashes and troubled cultural identities, while his works feature exoticism and the quest for independence. 李永沱 tacitly displays his affection with local surroundings in the burgeoning grass-root movement. 何肇衢’s works respond to the need to find a delicate balance between internationalism and localism, at a time when global urbanization comes in conflict with cultural conservation. The thesis casts lights on the linkage between artistic imagination and landscape, puts in context the use of landscape in creative process, in an attempt to understand more about representational space in artistic creation.

People''s intimacy with nature and contact with nature is a green experience. Being close to nature and pursuing green experience has a strong tendency for many people. Naturally, it is an example of instinctual demand. It is itself a pursuit. Instead of exchanging other things, according to the evolution of the function, humans have biologically prepared closeness to a specific resilience natural environment. There are also many studies showing that natural landscapes may have resilience, and Certain specific natural types of contact can relieve stress, restore mental and health, and other resilience responses. This shows that while people work and live in the city, they are still deeply attracted by the natural environment. Among them, they reconnect with people and nature. The shapes and colors of urban landscapes are basic visual elements. The influence of color in the environment on people's visual perception is often greater than that of shapes. According to a previous study, good urban color planning and design can display the city's aesthetic taste, humanistic temperament, and uniqueness. A city carries the common memories of its residents and reflects the current behavioral patterns of life, culture, economy, and politics. Tamsui has experienced changes from aboriginal tribes to the rule of Western powers and Japan and has integrated them all into a unique foreign multiculturalism. With the influence of old and new cultures, the city retains and displays a unique local culture. Color planning helps residents to understand the importance of color in the living environment and its profound and complex cultural role in the urban landscape. Different regions, ethnicities, and religious beliefs lead people to develop different color preferences. The colors presented by a city allow us to determine the cultural characteristics, endemic, and color literacy of residents. Therefore, establishing an exclusive urban color system plan can promote local and community awareness and assist local construction and industrial development to create a good city image. The first stage of this study is based on a literature review and field surveys. Applying the principles of the French scholar Jean Philippe Lenclos, and chose Tamsui's sightseeing walking route as the survey object. Through image collection, a total of 20 people, including experts, residents, and tourists, were interviewed about the image of Tamsui. Then we analyzed the results and developed a local color chart. Furthermore, the evaluation of Miryoku Engineering was employed for the in-depth interview of 15 interviewees. The interview results were summarized into the following four original attractiveness factors in the region: historical and cultural, sightseeing culture, city image, and city vision. The results of the investigation and research found that through consciousness and perception, people creat a common memory of regional emotions and landscapes, while local colors can reflect the context of urban history, cultural commonalities, and characteristics of the times. Finally, in this study, we applied color chart and attraction factors to design three kinds of packaging for local specialty products. By combining local features with cultural colors, the packages encompass application designs with Tamsui image associations and colors, which can serve as a reference for individuals working in the product packaging design industry.

Cultural tourism originated in the Roman period of the 5th century BC. Ancient Romans began to visit Greece and Egypt. Until the beginning of the 20th century, cultural tourism became a recreational and recreational way for wealthy and highly educated people. Nowadays, in order to meet their own cultural needs, people have promoted cultural tourism from a small form of tourism to a popular form of mass tourism. The driving force of cultural tourism is culture itself, and cultural tourism is also a form of tourism involving cultural factors. One of the important determinants of culture is the spirit of the place. The cultural tourism experience in different regions lies in experiencing the traits and spirit of different places. As one of Taiwan''s famous tourist towns, Tamsui was elected as one of Taiwan''s eight scenic spots. Therefore, Tamsui has a very high tourism value. Tamsui was once a transshipment port for communication between the North Taiwan region and the international community. It accommodated merchants from different parts of the world to do business and residence, leaving a rich and special exotic culture that gives people a sense of direction and identity. In view of this, this study takes fresh water as the research object and explores the spirit of the place embodied in cultural tourism. Tamsui is an international trade transshipment station in early Taiwan and one of the earliest areas in Taiwan. Since the middle of the 16th century, many Chinese, Hispanic, Japanese, and Aboriginal people have been trading in Tamsui. The Jose Dynasty was an important trading point for Southeast Asian trade, and the Tamsui port has already formed a market and commercial settlement. During the reign of Zheng, fresh water became a warehouse for storing rice. As the rule of the Qing Dynasty opened up the Han people, many foreign banks successively set up a point here, and Tamsui laid a solid foundation in northern Taiwan. During the Japanese occupation period, Japanese people successively set up official institutions in Tamsui, legalized management, and the fresh water entered the modern living order of the Japanese colonies. During the National Government, the construction of Tamsui traffic was strengthened and the MRT was built. The acceleration of the modernization of Tamsui, although the living environment is gradually homogenized, and because of the vigorous development of cultural types of tourism, Tamsui still maintains the historical history and historical texture of the past, so the discussion of the use of fresh water as a cultural tourism for the spirit of the place Has its representative. Based on the cultural characteristics, geographical location, spatial pattern and genius loci of Tamsui, this study focuses on the Tamsui quarter anchors and surrounding areas, and interprets the meaning of cultural tourism from the perspective of genius loci. According to the results of the discussion, it proposes the changes that have been made since the implementation of cultural tourism in Tamsui, and puts forward relevant suggestions for the sustainable development of Tamsui cultural tourism. It is expected to provide a reference for the planning and development of Tamsui cultural tourism, and then achieve the mission of promoting cultural preservation and continuing local memory.

The concept of Historical Site Management is no longer passive repairing and maintaining the historical site, but by starting from analyzing the historical environment actively to repair the city structure, and establishing city marketing and community learning. Under which concept, the site is seen as an enterprise management. And from the angle of city space planning, to optimize the quality of historical site and effective management and maintenance, and to carry out the new definition of Historical Site Operation in the new age. And my research object- the Tamsui Historical Site, includes 21 historical sites and historical streets in the district, which is the extremely important culture assets of Taipei County. By setting Tamsui a high-quality culture and sightseeing spot as the target, The Taipei County government established Tamsui Historical Site on February 1, 2003, where there is Tamsui historical museum, the first museum with the mane of historical site, is also a new try of the historical reservation of the nation. Since then, Tamsui become one of the popular visiting places in Taipei county during the weekend. By the research conducted by Jang, Geeng-Fuu (2000:80) and Yeh, Chih-Wei (2003:95), Tamsui’s historical site resources is losing its charm, far less attractive as the beautiful scenery and the delicious food. Lack of a complete city planning, new building flooded, and huge buildings which contrast the historical site emerged. Also because the miscommunication between central government and the local government produced lots of city planning strategy needed to be discussed, for example, the controversial plan of widening the streets. Due to above reasons, the historical space and city memory were washed off little by little. This research with the concept of management and administration of the historical site , reviewing the related laws and public departments, social organization and its management, managed and planned for the three historical sites, Fort San Domingo, Ch’ing-Dynasty Chief Taxation Officer’s Residence in Tamsui and Huwei Fort,. Therefore, these three historical sites can be reserved, and together with entire historical streets will be manage eternally, making the precious Tamsui historical resources and the social surroundings merged in a natural way, and rebuilt the Tamsui culture, making Tamsui town unique under the trend of globalization.

Due to the recent developments of economic and expansion of cities, the lands were developed and the public facilities were built among upstream, midstream and downstream of the basin of Tamsui that influenced all the ecological environment, built-up area even the whole city, suburban and rural area. The former modes of operating and ecological systems also have been changed on account of the cumulate developments and constructions ,however, the cumulate changes also influenced the sensitivity of exposing to the calamity and the ability of regulating in these areas , that is to say the economic vulnerability of environment has been changed over time that gradually caused the spatiotemporal changes. Consequently, this paper will utilize the basin scale and time scale to prove and analyze the factor in economic vulnerability of environment about typhoon and flood of the town-ship level in the basin of Tamsui. Taking the period 1996-2006 as study time. The results showed that a high degree of vulnerability of the region was mainly concentrated in New Taipei City and Taipei city near the Tamsui River tributaries. New Taipei City and Taipei city belonged to the downstream area, while the middle of the Taoyuan River basin took the second place. The lowest of vulnerability region were Qionglin Township, Jianshi Township of Hsinchu County and Pinglin Dist of New Taipei City. The cumulative circumstances did not change significantly in this decade. The results of the factors of vulnerability showed that the key factor of 1996 was economic development, while the 2006 was the economic development and public facilities.

With the economic booming in Taiwan and the concept of leisure activities becoming prevailing, Tamsui, relying on its abundant resources of nature, history and culture as well as its convenient transportation of transit, has developed itself as a famous sightseeing site in the large Taipei area, attracting numerous domestic and foreign visitors to call on this charming fishing-harbor town. However, the rapid development of the town has fastened the collapse of its traditional life style and placed its spatial resources in a dilemma between conservation of tradition and development. Consequently, problems have arisen as various governmental units take independent measures in the development of the spatial resources, without systematic integration among them. It not only wastes the resources but also affects the conservation of town life and the quality of leisure activity of the metropolitan area. By analyzing the current situation of spatial resources of Tamusi as well as according to its layout of the whole spatial resources for leisure activity, this paper aims at seeking a balance point that meets the residents’ requirements and economic development in the utilization of leisure spaces of Tamsui. It aids to perpetuate the life style of Tamsui community and gain a rejuvenating strength for development. This study bears in mind that Tamsui’s indigenous life style should be maintained and cultivated while pursuing the regional development to achieve the integration and linkage of spatial resources of Tamsui. With this, Tamsui will become a “Cultural Sightseeing City” for the large Taipei area.

The main purpose of this study is developing a 1-diemensional unsteady river routing model, combined with confluence zone computation, and feedback process according to internal observation data by Kalman filtering algorithm. The study contains the following features: (a) It establishes a numerical model by fully implicit scheme finite difference method to compute flow in single river. The linear eliminated equations are solved by double sweep method. (b) Connecting many single river unsteady routing model to build a complicated river system routing model. The process of confluence zone computation is combined with continuity equation and energy equations and the river system double sweep method is applied. (c) Modifying the error between computation results and observations in a river system by Kalman filtering algorithm. After this stochastic process, the system will obtain a better initial condition for next time step computation and descend the effect of error cumulating. The stochastic model in this study is in cooperation with the river system confluence computation in order to decrease the computing time and enhance the working efficiency of system. According to the result of this study, it is available to simulate flow in river system by applying fully implicit scheme finite difference method combining with the confluence zone iteration algorithm. It provides a rapid and stable routing model. Furthermore, coupling with stochastic feedback model, it gives a rational way to involve the real time observation data into system to reduce the effect of error cumulating. In real flood forecasting, how to get a reliable forecasting data fast to warn residents living in probably dangerous zone is most important object. This study gives a new view to fix error in deterministic model by stochastic algorithm, and also, it applies a prompt, efficient way to simulate flow in river system by confluence zone iteration. The final results are optimized and most reliable for flood forecasting.

Tamsui, Taipei County, is one of the old Tang-uann accent, which is seldom in Taiwan. This essay discusses the Tang-uann accent from the points of sound patterns, including initials, rhymes and tones. Along with the basic traditional linguistics, the study makes use of the methods of the fieldwork from the geography of languages, which deals with the distribution through history and space of languages. There are three purposes in the study. First, it records the sound patterns in the Tamsui now and compares the same dialect system of Tang-uann with Taipei, Kinmen and Ma-kong. Second, by comparing the lexicons, it lists special local terms in Tamsui and compares the differences among the three places. It picks out some of the special terms to use for the fieldwork of the linguistic geography and draws maps of the distribution. Besides the sound patterns, it also records the local folklores and sayings, which preserves the language and the culture. It combines the theory and the practical fieldwork as well as the historical study. It gets three results. First, from the points of the sound patterns, Tamsui still preserves the features of the Tang-uann accent with a little changes. The words that rhyme with 科(kho) and 居(ki), which are spoken as /e/ and // separately, are spoken as /e/ and /i/ gradually. The lower first tone is changed into low level tone with some words are changed into mid level tone which is influenced by the dominant accent of Taiwanese. Second, the dialect maps along with the dialect diffusion, the transformation of a language mainly starts from the center part of a city. The phenomenon also occurs in Tamsui. It starts from the center part of the town, which effects its neighborhood. The more far from the center part, the more original sound patterns preserved. Third, the special local lexicons are produced according to the different regions. Every place has its own features of the culture background. Mixing up history and geography, they will produce their own special terms that are different from other places or have territorial terms, which sometimes is stronger than the terms that are used for judging the accents of Chiang-chiu and Chuan-chiu dialects. Those terms break up the boundary of the Chiang-chiu and Chuan-chiu and are able to be collected and developed.

In this research, we investigated the effect of various factors on the biodegradation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) such as phenanthrene and pyrene and characterized the structure of microbial community changes in Tamshui mangrove sediments. Concentrations of phenanthrene and pyrene in mangrove sediments samples ranged from below detection limits (ND) to 0.56μg/g and from below detection limits (ND) to 0.68μg/g, respectively. In the five monitoring sites of Tamshui River, sediments from Guan-Du mangrove had better degradation ability under aerobic conditions. The half-life (t1/2) of 50 μg/g phenanthrene and pyrene was 1.85 and 3.00 days. We also found sediments from Shezi mangrove had better degradation ability under anaerobic conditions. The half-life (t1/2) of 50 μg/g phenanthrene and pyrene was 89.54 and 93.37 days. The degradation rate of phenanthrene and pyrene under aerobic conditions were higher than anaerobic conditions. The degradation rate of phenanthrene was faster than the rate of pyrene under both conditions. Under aerobic conditions, the higher the PAHs concentrations such as 50、125 μg/g and 250 μg/g, the slower the degradation rate. The degradation rate of pyrene was enhanced when phenanthrene presented. PAHs degradation were enhanced by the addition of NaCl 3 ppt, humic acid 0.5 g/L and yeast extract. However, PAHs degradation were inhibited by the addition of Fe and salicylic acid. There were no significant differences when we added brij 30, tween 80, humic acid 1 g/L, EDTA, cellulose, H2O2, nonyphenol and DEHP. Under aerobic conditions, the PCR-DGGE fingerprint showed that microbial diversity in different mangrove sediments. The addition of various treatments changed its microbial community. The similarity of microbial community was high by addition of substrates which can enhance or have no significant difference on PAHs degradation. Strain MS1 (Mycobacterium barrassii),strain MS2 (Dyella ginsengisoli),strain MS3 (Rhodococcus equi),strain MS4 (Bacillus pumilus),strain MS5 (Bacillus weihenstephanensis) and strain MS13 (Labrys sp.) were constantly dominant in the consortium under various treatments in sediments. Under anaerobic conditions, the higher the PAHs concentrations, the slower the degradation rate. PAHs degradation were enhanced by the addition of Fe and acetate. PAHs degradation were inhibited by the addition of NaCl 30 ppt and salicylic acid. Degradation was also measured under three anaerobic conditions. Result showed the high-to-low order of degradation rates to be methanogenic conditions > sulfate-reducing conditions > nitrate-reducing conditions. These results showed that methanogen, sulfidogenic bacteria, and eubacteria were involved in the degradation of phenanthrene and pyrene. We also isolated 6 aerobic bacteria which had better PAHs degradation ability. The biodegradation half-life (t1/2) of 50 μg/g phenanthrene and pyrene of the best aerobic isolate strain MS1 was 1.46 and 1.56 days. PAHs degradation rate was enhanced by adding strain MS1 into the mangrove sediments. The result of PCR-DGGE showed that strain MS1 existed in mangrove sediments. Strain MS1 was identified as Mycobacterium barrassii . These results could offer the feasibility for removal of PAHs in wetlands environment by microbial biodegradation.
