Abstract:
Abstract Sirolimus (SIR), an inhibitor of mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR), is an immunosuppressive agent that is synergistic with CNI to prevent or treat GVHD in patients (pts) undergoing allo-HST (Cutler, Biol Blood Marrow Transplant. 2004;10:328). Transplant associated microangiopathy (TAM) is a multi-factorial complication of allo- HST, associated with CNI. Recently, the addition of SIR to CNIs was reported to result in a higher than expected (10.8%) incidence of TAM (Cutler et al. Biol Blood Marrow Transplant. 2005; 11:551). We analyzed the incidence and clinical characteristics of TAM in 2 groups of pediatric patients (pts): the prevention group (GP): pts who received SIR and tacrolimus (TAC) for prevention; and the treatment group (TG): pts treated with SIR and a CNI (TAC or cyclosporine) for exacerbation of GVHD. Methods: A retrospective chart review of pts with allo-HST who received SIR/TAC for either prevention or treatment of GVHD. Demographic data, clinical course, occurrence of GVHD and TAC and SIR levels were recorded. TAM was defined as serum creatinine (SCr) of ≥ 50% above baseline, elevated LDH levels (>X2 upper limit of normal), presence of schistocytes or persistence of nucleated red blood cells, and prolonged or progressive thrombocytopenia. For PG the risk period was defined between days −1 to +60 of HSC. The risk period for the TG was defined from the first day of SIR/TAC until day +30 after the last dose was given. Results: Records of 45 pts who were treated with SIR/TAC were reviewed. The median age of 21 patients in PG was 9.1 yr (2.9–22); male gender, n=13. The median age in 24 TG pts was14.7 yr (3.3–20.6); male gender, n= 11. Conditioning regimens consisted of TBI based regimens (64%), or chemotherapy only (36%). Diagnoses included ALL (40%), AML (27 %), NHL (9%), Fanconi’s (4 %), and other (9%). The median follow up for the surviving patients is 28.6 months. TAM criteria were met in 15 ( 30%) patients who received SIR/TAC, 5 PG pts (23.8%) and 10 TG pts ( 41.6%). Two PG patients died from multi-organ failure (MOF) related to other reasons (VOD, n=1 and multi-organism infection, n=1). Both pts had hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS), possibly contributing to MOF. One patient developed seizures secondary to thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP) as a complication of TAM. TAC and SIR levels were within the desired range (WDR, (≤10 ng/ml, for each) in this patient and signs and symptoms of TAM and TTP resolved after discontinuation of both TAC and SIR. In 2 patients TAM findings were asymptomatic, without progression to HUS or TTP. SIR/TAC levels in these patients were all WDR. Among 10 TG pts that met TAM criteria, 2 pts progressed to HUS and one developed severe TTP. All 3 patients with complicated TAM died (HUS, n=1, MOF, n=1, and idiopathic pneumonitis, n=1). Two of the pts with laboratory, but not clinically apparent TAM died (invasive fungal infection, n=1, IP n=1). In all TG pts with TAM either TAC (n=7) or SIR (n=6) levels exceeded WDR. To identify possible risk factors for TAM, the following parameters were analyzed: age, conditioning regimen, disease type, degree of HLA match. In the PG, only organ failure or high-grade GVHD could be identified as risk factors. In the TG, TAC or SIR levels exceeding WDR, in addition to ac GVHD or chronic GVHD present in all patients, were associated with an increased risk for clinical significant TAM. Conclusion: Organ damage, either by acute GVHD or from other reasons may contribute to development of clinically significant TAM in pts undergoing allo-HST treated with SIR plus CNI. Monitoring TAC or SIR levels and early diagnosis of TAM may prove to be critical in patients with progressive organ damage of GVHD.

Abstract:
Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) ship detection and classification has gained unprecedented attention due to its important role in maritime transportation. Many deep learning-based detectors and classifiers have been successfully applied and achieved great progress. However, ships in SAR images present discrete and multi-centric features, and their scattering characteristics and edge information are sensitive to variations in target attitude angles (TAAs). These factors pose challenges for existing methods to obtain satisfactory results. To address these challenges, a novel target attitude angle-guided network (TAG-Net) is proposed in this article. The core idea of TAG-Net is to leverage TAA information as guidance and use an adaptive feature-level fusion strategy to dynamically learn more representative features that can handle the target imaging diversity caused by TAA. This is achieved through a TAA-aware feature modulation (TAFM) module. It uses the TAA information and foreground information as prior knowledge and establishes the relationship between the ship scattering characteristics and TAA information. This enables a reduction in the intra-class variability and highlights ship targets. Additionally, considering the different requirements of the detection and classification tasks for the scattering information, we propose a layer-wise attention-based task decoupling detection head (LATD). Unlike general deep learning methods that use shared features for both detection and classification tasks, LATD extracts multi-level features and uses layer attention to achieve feature decoupling and select the most suitable features for each task. Finally, we introduce a novel salient-enhanced feature balance module (SFB) to provide richer semantic information and capture the global context to highlight ships in complex scenes, effectively reducing the impact of background noise. A large-scale ship detection dataset (LSSDD+) is used to verify the effectiveness of TAG-Net, and our method achieves state-of-the-art performance.

Siswa merasakan dan memandang bahwa proses belajar mengajar menggunakan MDP-PAI Berbasis TAM sangat menyenangkan dan bermanfaat dalam meningkatkan kemampuan tulis baca huruf al-Quran. Penggunaan MDP PAI Berbasis TAM dapat menumbuhkan motivasi dan keaktifan belajar siswa yang cukup tinggi sehingga proses belajar mengajar berlangsung kondusif dalam mencapai tujuan yang telah ditetapkan.This study discusses the instructional design of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) based Malay Arabic script (TAM). By focusing the study findings of the development model of PAI instructional design multi orientation. The result of this study is the feelings and views of the students to the learning process using the MDP-PAI-based TAM are very positive. Students feel and perceive that the learning process by using MDP-PAI-based TAM is very pleasant and helpful in improving their ability to write and read the al-Quran letters. The use of MDP PAI-based TAM can motivate and activate the student's learning so teaching and learning process can be conducive to achieving the stated goals.

e15038 Introduction: The pharmacogenetics of irinotecan indicate that a common polymorphism in the uridine diphosphate glucuronosyltransferase 1As (UGT1As) gene predict severe toxicity. However the tumor response to irinotecan is variable and unpredictable. Methods: Two multi-center phase II studies of FOLFIRI (FLIGHT-1 and FLIGHT-2 study) were conducted for patients with metastatic colorectal cancer (CRC) in Japan. FLIGHT-1 study was first-line chemotherapy, and FLIGHT-2 study was FOLFOX-refractory second-line chemotherapy. 103 patients have been enrolled in these studies (53 patients in FLIGHT-1 and 50 patients in FLIGHT-2) from 20 institutions by April 2007 from November 2005. Seventy one patients were analyzed UGT1As polymorphisms, UGT1A1*28 (TA6>TA7), UGT1A1*6 (G>A), UGT1A1*60 (T>C), UGT1A7 (N129K; T>G), UGT1A7 (-57 T>G), UGT1A9*22 (T10>T9). Results: Out of 71 patients, 34 had G3/4 neutropenia or leukopenia, and 23 had tumor responses (CR +PR). G3/4 neutropenia was more frequent in patients with *6, N129K(G), -57(G), *22 allele than patients without these allele (p<0.05). Other polymorphism was not the predictive factor for toxicity and tumor response, independently. On the other hand, genotype subset selection of multi-UGT1As polymorphisms was useful to predict severe toxicities and tumor responses. Only 7 patients of 22 patients with TA6/TA6 and T10/T10, or TA6/TA7 and -57(T/T), or *6(G/G) and *60(T/T) had grade3/4 toxicity. Similarly, high risk group of toxicity or high and low tumor responses groups was also predicted by genotype subset selections. Conclusions: Genotype subset selections of multi-UGT1As polymorphisms were the excellent predictor for severe toxicities and tumor responses of metastatic CRC patients received FOLFIRI regimen. No significant financial relationships to disclose.

In this study, a new technology acceptance model (TAM) based on the characteristics that are adapted from Innovation Diffusion Theory (IDT) with integrated multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) method is developed in order to explain students’ acceptance of information system. New TAM is developed based on 650 students of a public university of Turkey. In the study, first, five innovation characteristics are prioritized with the Analytical Hierarchy Method (AHP) and independent variables of TAM are formed with the Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) technique with using AHP results as the criteria weights. With the obtained results, explaining the intention to use by more than 50% shows that integrated TAM is an applicable and flexible model.

This study aims to develop and implement a new Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) to verify and explain users&rsquo; acceptance of SAP software. The structural equation model (SEM) technique is used with the AMOS program for the adoption process. General structural model, which includes Experience, Voluntariness, Perceived Enjoyment, Perceptions of External Control, Computer Self Efficacy, Output Quality and Job Relevance, is developed with Analytical Hierarchy Method (AHP) and Pareto Analysis by deciding variables from previously original developed models which are called TAM1, TAM2 and TAM3. New TAM is tested to a sample of 384 SAP users in a company that serves in metal production. Results illustrates that new TAM is an appropriate tool to explain and understand users&rsquo; acceptance of SAP besides of being flexible and easily implemented. SAP users&rsquo; job relevance and their perceptions of external control are the most important variables that affect perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use in the model.

Abstract:
Tubular aggregate myopathy (TAM) and Stormorken syndrome (STRMK) form a clinical continuum associating progressive muscle weakness with additional multi-systemic anomalies of the bones, skin, spleen, and platelets. TAM/STRMK arises from excessive extracellular Ca2+ entry due to gain-of-function mutations in the Ca2+ sensor STIM1 or the Ca2+ channel ORAI1. Currently, no treatment is available. Here we assessed the therapeutic potential of ORAI1 downregulation to anticipate and reverse disease development in a faithful mouse model carrying the most common TAM/STRMK mutation and recapitulating the main signs of the human disorder. To this aim, we crossed Stim1R304W/+ mice with Orai1+/− mice expressing 50% of ORAI1. Systematic phenotyping of the offspring revealed that the Stim1R304W/+Orai1+/− mice were born with a normalized ratio and showed improved postnatal growth, bone architecture, and partly ameliorated muscle function and structure compared with their Stim1R304W/+ littermates. We also produced AAV particles containing Orai1-specific shRNAs, and intramuscular injections of Stim1R304W/+ mice improved the skeletal muscle contraction and relaxation properties, while muscle histology remained unchanged. Altogether, we provide the proof-of-concept that Orai1 silencing partially prevents the development of the multi-systemic TAM/STRMK phenotype in mice, and we also established an approach to target Orai1 expression in postnatal tissues.

Abstract:
Abstract Down syndrome (DS) is characterized by the trisomy of chromosome 21 and complicated with multi-organ dysfunctions including the hematopoietic system. Among them, myeloproliferative disorder is known as a particular feature of the abnormality in hematopoiesis. At birth, about 10% of DS newborns show an extreme increase in blast cell number of peripheral blood and bone marrow, which is called transient abnormal myelopoiesis (TAM), because the blasts spontaneously disappear within 3 months. Morphologically, blast cells in TAM are similar to those typically found in acute megakaryoblastic leukemia (AMKL). Genetic analysis of blasts in TAM usually shows mutation in GATA1 gene. After spontaneous remission of TAM, 20 to 30% of TAM patients develop AMKL within several years. This type of AMKL is especially called DS related-AMKL (DS-AMKL). This leukemogenic transition from TAM to AMKL is considered to be a typical model of multi-step tumorigenesis. In this model, we deal with the initial part of TAM development in relationship with trisomy 21 and GATA1 mutation, especially focusing on how GATA1 mutation promotes TAM development and why hematopoietic progenitors with GATA1 mutation prevail during embryonic hematopoiesis only in the cells with trisomy 21. In order to address these unsolved issues, we have established a strictly controlled human induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) lines derived from DS patients with or without TAM. In this study, to recapitulate the phenotype of TAM and to specify the differentiation stage affected in hematopoietic cells in TAM patients, we differentiated established isogenic iPSC lines into megakaryocytes and erythrocytes in a step-wise manner. For this purpose, we employed two-dimensional differentiation system and compared the frequency of hematopoietic progenitor cells at various stages. For megakaryocytic lineage, we traced their differentiation as follows; hematopoietic progenitor cells committed to megakaryocytic lineage (day 9, CD34+CD41a+CD42b-CD235a-), megakaryoblasts (day 16, CD34-CD41a+CD42b-CD235a-) and promegakaryocytes (day 16, CD34-CD41a+CD42b+CD235a-). For erythrocytic differentiation, CD71+CD235a+ cells were defined as erythroid-committed hematopoietic cells. On nine days after the initiation of hematopoietic differentiation (day 9), the frequency of CD41a+CD235a- cells showed no significant differences irrespective of the status of chromosome 21 and GATA1 genotype. However, on the day 16, while the frequency of promegakaryocytes significantly decreased in GATA1-mutated iPSCs, megakaryoblasts, an earlier stage cells than promegakaryocytes, were increased in GATA1-mutated iPSCs. These data suggest that megakaryocytic maturation is arrested in GATA1-mutated iPSCs at the stage of megakaryoblasts. In GATA1-non-mutated clones, iPSCs with trisomy 21 yielded erythroid-committed CD71+CD235a+ cells more frequently than those with disomy 21. However, in GATA1-mutated clones, either trisomy 21 or disomy 21 iPSC clones never yielded the erythroid-committed cells. Taken these results together, we suspected that these in vitro phenotypes observed in both erythroid and megakaryocytic lineages were caused by the impairment of fate decision in their progenitor cells. In conclusion, we successfully recapitulated the phenotypes of TAM in vitro in regard to the abnormal differentiation into megakaryocytic and erythroid lineages. We noticed that the in vitro phenotype were associated with the GATA1 genotype and the ploidy of chromosome 21. Considering these results, analyses of the megakaryocytic and erythroid progenitor cells, such as CMP, MEP and Mk-p, are important to determine which stage of progenitors is responsible for the impairment of hematopoietic cell maturation and subsequent TAM development. Moreover, we believe that the recapitulated TAM model using iPSCs is helpful for the comprehensive understanding of pathogensis in TAM. Disclosures No relevant conflicts of interest to declare.

À peine arrivé au pouvoir, Bonaparte propose au pape Pie VII de rétablir le culte catholique en France, ce qui sera formalisé par le concordat de 1801. En échange, il exige, entre autres, que tous les évêques alors reconnus par Rome soient destitués et remplacés par d’autres, nommés par lui. Pie VII est placé dans l’embarras. Il ne sait pas s’il a le droit de révoquer d’autorité des évêques. Il prend le parti de leur demander de démissionner, mais près de la moitié d’entre eux refuse. Le maintien sur leurs sièges de ces évêques empêcherait la conclusion du Concordat, que Pie VII estime être un grand bien pour l’Église. C’est en vue de ce bien qu’il finit par considérer qu’il possède l’autorité pour révoquer les évêques non-démissionnaires. Cette thèse se propose d’établir l’histoire de cette décision, à partir, entre autres, de l’exploitation d’archives inédites, dont les plus importantes sont publiées dans leur intégralité. Elle chercher à expliquer comment le Saint-Siège parvient, à la faveur de la Restauration, à la faire accepter à l’ensemble de l’épiscopat. Il en détaille les enjeux, tant pour l’époque que pour la postérité. En définitive, ce texte soutient la thèse que, même si Pie VII a pris une décision sans précédent, cette dernière était conforme à la tradition canonique. Elle est, en outre, aujourd’hui encore, riche d’enseignement, tant au niveau théologique que canonique et même pratique. As soon as he came to power, Bonaparte proposed to Pope Pius VII to re-establish Catholic worship in France, which was formalised by the Concordat of 1801. In exchange, he demanded, among other things, that all the bishops then recognised by Rome be removed from office and replaced by others appointed by him. Pius VII was in a quandary. He did not know whether he had the right to dismiss bishops. He decided to ask them to resign, but nearly half of them refused. The retention of these bishops in their seats would prevent the conclusion of the Concordat, which Pius VII considered a great good for the Church. It was with this good in mind that he came to believe that he had the authority to dismiss the non-resigning bishops. This work aims at establishing the history of this decision. Among other things, we used a lot of unpublished archives, the most important of which are published here in their entirety. The thesis seeks to explain how the Holy See succeeded, under the Restoration, in getting the entire episcopate to accept his decision. It details the issues at stake, by that time and after. Ultimately, this text supports the thesis that, even if Pius VII took an unprecedented decision, he acted in conformity with the whole canonical tradition. This decision can, moreover, still give theological, canonical and even practical lessons today. In some respects, it could even be a source of inspiration for the Holy See in its relations with certain countries

Abstract:
In questa tesi si sono valutate le prestazioni di un sistema di localizzazione multi-antenna di tag radio frequency identification (RFID) passivi in ambiente indoor. Il sistema, composto da un reader in movimento che percorre una traiettoria nota, ha come obiettivo localizzare il tag attraverso misure di fase; più precisamente la differenza di fase tra il segnale di interrogazione, emesso dal reader, e il segnale ricevuto riflesso dal tag che è correlato alla distanza tra di essi. Dopo avere eseguito una ricerca sullo stato dell’arte di queste tecniche e aver derivato il criterio maximum likelihood (ML) del sistema si è proceduto a valutarne le prestazioni e come eventuali fattori agissero sul risultato di localizzazione attraverso simulazioni Matlab. Come ultimo passo si è proceduto a effettuare una campagna di misure, testando il sistema in un ambiente reale. Si sono confrontati i risultati di localizzazione di tutti gli algoritmi proposti quando il reader si muove su una traiettoria rettilinea e su una traiettoria angolare, cercando di capire come migliorare i risultati.

Abstract:
Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology has been expanded to be used in different fields that need automatic identifying and verifying of tagged objects without human intervention. RFID technology offers a great advantage in comparison with barcodes by providing accurate information, ease of use and reducing of labour cost. These advantages have been utilised by using passive RFID tags. Although RFID technology can enhance the efficiency of different RFID applications systems, researchers have reported issues regarding the use of RFID technology. These issues are making the technology vulnerable to many threats in terms of security and privacy. Different RFID solutions, based on different cryptography primitives, have been developed. Most of these protocols focus on the use of passive RFID tags. However, due to the computation feasibility in passive RFID tags, these tags might be vulnerable to some of the security and privacy threats. , e.g. unauthorised reader can read the information inside tags, illegitimate tags or cloned tags can be accessed by a reader. Moreover, most consideration of reserchers is focus on single tag authentication and mostly do not consider scenarios that need multi-tag such as supply chain management and healthcare management. Secret sharing schemes have been also proposed to overcome the key management problem in supply chain management. However, secret sharing schemes have some scalability limitations when applied with high numbers of RFID tags. This work is mainly focused on solving the problem of the security and privacy in multi-tag RFID based system. In this work firstly, we studied different RFID protocols such as symmetric key authentication protocols, authentication protocols based on elliptic curve cryptography, secret sharing schemes and multi-tag authentication protocols. Secondly, we consider the significant research into the mutual authentication of passive RFID tags. Therefore, a mutual authentication scheme that is based on zero-knowledge proof have been proposed . The main object of this work is to develop an ECC- RFID based system that enables multi-RFID tags to be authenticated with one reader by using different versions of ECC public key encryption schemes. The protocol are relied on using threshold cryptosystems that operate ECC to generate secret keys then distribute and stored secret keys among multi RFID tags. Finally, we provide performance measurement for the implementation of the proposed protocols.

This thesis presents three differing approaches to the search for the Standard Model Higgs boson decaying to tau leptons using ps = 7 TeV protonproton collision data from the ATLAS experiment at the LHC. Multi-variate analysis techniques involving boosted decision trees are used to extend an existing cut-based analysis procedure. The expected 95% confidence level upper limit on the observed cross-section is compared between the analyses. The upper limit at a Higgs mass of mH = 125 GeV is improved from 2:9+4:3 􀀀2:1 to 2:3+3:3 􀀀1:7 times the Standard Model prediction, after implementing multivariate techniques. No significant excess is seen in data for any analysis strategy. The most sensitive measurement of the signal strength normalised to the Standard Model prediction was observed to be ˆ m = 1:6 1:1, corresponding to 1:4s upward fluctuation of the background-only model to match the data.

Machine-to-Machine technology has been intensively researched recently which is believed to take the role of leading ICT industry development. Wireless Sensor Networks provide solution to integrate numerous numbers of machines who require features include low power, low cost, and flexible, which can be fulfilled by applying Zigbee technique. This thesis devotes an effort into Wireless Sensor Network development that a Multi- Tag System operating on 2.4-GHz wireless network is developed. A theoretical study about ZigBee protocol and its bottom layers IEEE 802.15.4 standard is provided to lay a foundation of the design work. The thesis also includes a practical usage of low cost TI CC2530 Systom-on-Chip, together with the illustration of software development inside the chip. The design work provides GUI Platform for users to register themselves into the network and central monitoring platform to track all users within the area. Both GUI platforms are developed based on VB IDE. The Multi-Tag Access System is suitable for attendee control functionality in big-scale conference, events, and lecture, which is also a prototype expecting more functionality to be added in the future.

Abstract:
High-voltage direct-current (HVDC) transmission has higher efficiency and lower expenses for the long-distance bulk-power transmission. A HVDC tap is one type of the multi-terminal HVDC systems which transfers a small amount of power from the HVDC line to the nearby communities with no access to the electricity. Developed from the 1960s, HVDC taps can be summarised into series taps and parallel taps, between which series taps are considered to be more promising on the use of devices and the cost. The conventional series taps have some evident drawbacks, which a modular multilevel based series tap may overcome. Here a novel n-phase Multi-Modular Series HVDC Tap (MMST) is proposed to realise the utilisation of the modular multilevel structure into the series tap and improve the performance of typical series taps. In this PhD thesis the theoretical analysis and the parameter design of two-phase and three-phase MMSTs based on the South-West HVDC Link in Sweden have been carried out. The control strategy for the n-phase MMST, including the load current control, the mean capacitor voltage control and the DC link voltage control, has been designed. In order to verify the feasibility of the proposed topology and the validity of the presented control strategy, simulations have been validated using a low power prototype. The simulation and experimental results indicate that the MMST offers better performance when compared to the conventional series taps.

Abstract:
Movable flap with a NACA airfoil serves as a common control surface for underwater marine vehicles. To augment the functionality of the control surface, a Tab-Assisted Control (TAC) surface was experimentally tested to address its benefits to various different requirements of the control surface. The advantage of the TAC surface could be further enhanced with Shape Memory Alloy (SMA) actuators to control the rear portion of the control surface to form a flexible tab (or FlexTAC) surface. Although the measured FlexTAC data demonstrated similar augmentation in enhancing airfoil’s functionality, they also show subtle differences in data obtained from the TAC and FlexTAC measurements. High fidelity hybrid unstructured RANS calculation results are used to define the flow fields associated with the multi-element FlexTAC airfoil with a stabilizer, a flap and a flexible tab. The prediction results are compared with the measured data obtained from both the TAC and the FlexTAC experiments. The comparison also leads to the resolution of the difference existed between the two data sets. In addition the RANS solutions are validated for predicting the forces and moments acting on the hydrofoil with adequate accuracy for use with an optimization scheme. For a horizontal control surface to effectively provide upward and downward motions, it is necessary to maintain a symmetric airfoil shape. In order to achieve maximum benefit out of a horizontal TAC/FlexTAC surface, a shape modification of the stabilizer (fixed portion of the hydrofoil) and the flap is desirable to account for the requirements at the most severe scenario. This paper focuses on the conditions when the movable flap surface becomes jammed. Since the present investigation deals with a FlexTAC configuration with a flexible tab, the shape modification focuses only on the stabilizer and the non-flexible portions of the flap. The shape optimization calculations coupling with the RANS predictions use an evolutionary algorithm, which consists of a genetic algorithm based design optimization procedure. This procedure searches the complex design landscape in an efficient and parallel manner. Furthermore, it can easily handle complexities in constraints and objectives and is disinclined to get trapped in local extreme regions. The utilization of the hybrid unstructured methodology provides flexibility in incorporating large changes in shape. The mesh regeneration is carried out in an automated manner through a scripting process within the grid generator. The optimization calculation is performed simultaneously on both the stabilizer and the flap. Shape changes to the trailing edge of the stabilizer strongly influence the secondary flow patterns that set up in the gap region between the stabilizer and the flap. These are found to have a profound influence on force and moment characteristics. Experimental and numerical evaluations of a shape obtained from a study of optimization results on the Pareto front for the current optimization landscape, further confirmed the optimization objectives.

The educational potential of management simulation games (MSGs) is substantial. MSGs are an improvement above prior methods of teaching. Independent work, innovative thinking, readiness to make choices, and independence from others are encouraged, as is a more positive attitude toward learning and a more involved interaction between students. Incorporating MSG into the classroom is a great way to give students a taste of the world of business while benefiting from the tried-and-true ways of instructing in most schools. As a result of their adaptability, MSGs may be used for scenario analysis, where the effects of various actions on a company's operations can be studied. MSGs are also used for talent finding and internal training. On the other hand, MSGs are a hub where teams may work together to build up what-if scenarios for their company's future growth in response to internal and external factors. However, the usage of MSGs is still not widespread. A primary survey on a multi-national sample of higher educators has been conducted to investigate the reasons for the gap. The structural equation model has been used to test the impact of several latent variables on the intention to use and actual usage of MSGs in teaching at higher educational institutions in business and economy within both the technology acceptance model (TAM) and technology-organization-environment framework (TOE).

Henkilökohtaisella budjetilla tarkoitetaan rahasummaa tai varoja, jotka määritellään henkilölle hänen tarpeenarvioinnissaan tunnistettuun tarkoitukseen. Budjetin varat voi käyttää tarvitsemiinsa palveluihin. Henkilökohtainen budjetti on käytössä sosiaali- ja terveydenhuollossa useassa maassa. Pohjoismaissa henkilökohtainen apu on ensisijainen esimerkki tämänkaltaisista ratkaisuista, mutta myös muita malleja on kokeiltu ja otettu käyttöön sosiaali- ja terveydenhuollossa, esimerkiksi valinnanvapausjärjestelmiä ja enemmän mahdollisuuksia palvelunkäyttäjille valita palveluntuottaja. Raportissa esitellään Pohjoismaissa käytettäviä malleja yksilöllisen tuen järjestämiseksi vammaisille henkilöille ja kokemuksia niistä. Kartoitus on toteutettu Pohjoismaiden hyvinvointikeskuksen ja suomalaisen Terveyden ja hyvinvoinnin laitoksen (THL) yhteistyönä. Abstract:
Most research on tax compliance, including research on gender differences in compliance, is based on one of two problematic sources of data. One is surveys enquiring about attitudes and beliefs about taxpaying, or actual taxpaying behaviour. The other is experiments in which people who may or may not have experience of paying different types of taxes are asked to act out roles as taxpayers in hypothetical situations. Much more accurate and reliable research is possible with access to ‘tax administrative data’, i.e. the records maintained by tax collection organisations. With tax administrative data, researchers have access to tax assessments and tax payments for specific (anonymised) individual or corporate taxpayers. Further, tax administrative data enables researchers to take account of a phenomenon largely ignored in more conventional compliance research. Tax payment is best understood not as an event, but as part of a multi-stage process of interaction between taxpayers and tax collectors. In particular, actually making a tax payment typically represents the culmination of a process that also involves: registering with the tax collecting organisation; filing annual tax returns; filing returns that indicate a payment liability; and receiving an assessment. The multi-stage character of this process raises questions about how we conceptualise and measure tax compliance. To what extent does ‘compliance’ refer to: registration, filing, accurate filing, or payment? The researchers employed this framework while using tax administrative data from the Uganda Revenue Authority to try to determine gender differences in compliance. The results are sensitive to the adoption of different definitions of compliance and subject to year-to-year changes. Finding robust answers to questions about gender differences in tax compliance is more challenging than the research literature indicates.

Abstract:
The study reports on circumferential guided wave inspection potential and propagation in a tar coated pipe. A computer code based on a matrix technique was developed to calculate the circumferential guided wave dispersion curves and wave structures in a viscoelastic multi-layered pipe. Experiments utilizing the SwRI Magnetostrictive ILI inspection technique were conducted under different coating conditions. There was a favorable agreement with theory. This study provides an insight into attenuation effect, ways to improve propagation distance, and a baseline for further studies on wave scattering, defect classification and sizing.
