Abstract:
Background: Although hair has been found to be a barrier to physical activity (PA) among adult black women, the research exploring this phenomenon among black adolescent girls is deficient. This presents a concern because physical inactivity can lead to obesity and a host of comorbidities. This qualitative study explores hair experiences of black adolescent girls and how they maintain their cultural hair practices in hopes of promoting PA among this at-risk population. Methods: Focus groups were conducted for 37 black adolescent girls attending a public high school in Newark, New Jersey. Results: The participants reported increasing hair knowledge via social media, sociocultural influences of family and culture, and the driving force of their peer group, a concept identified in the focus groups as Hair IQ (intelligence quotient). Hair IQ helped the participants learn how to maintain their hair practices before and after PA. These factors combined to develop a framework described as the “Mane”taining model. Conclusions: The findings suggest the “Mane”taining model may provide pathways for engaging in PA for this population and serve as an example for adult black women who face similar barriers to PA.

Abstract:
As part of a NASA program on high performance polymers for space applications, polymers containing silicon and phosphorus were prepared, characterized and exposed to an oxygen plasma under vacuum. Thin films of polyimides containing pendent siloxane groups, thermosetting resins contain ing silicon and poly(arylene ether)s containing phenylphosphine oxide were ex posed to a radio frequency generated oxygen plasma to assess their stability. The weight loss of the films was monitored as a function of exposure time and compared with that of Ultem® and Kapton® polyimide films of the same thick ness exposed under identical conditions. All of the experimental materials ex hibited better weight retention than either of the commercial polyimides. The thermosetting resins containing silicon and poly(arylene ether)s containing phosphine oxide exhibited only minor weight loss (0-5%) compared to that ex hibited by Ultem® (75-100%) and Kapton® (35-82%). Organic polymers con taining silicon are known to form silicates and silicon dioxide when exposed to atomic oxygen providing an in situ protective coating. Likewise, polymers con taining phosphorus have been shown to form an inorganic phosphate surface layer which subsequently provides protection from further oxidation. The same inherent characteristics that provide the polymers with atomic oxygen resis tance (i.e., high oxidation state or inorganic oxide formation) may also impart fire resistance. Materials containing phosphorus are known to exhibit good flame resistance. The chemistry, properties, limiting oxygen index and oxygen plasma resistance of these materials will be discussed.

Abstract:
To overcome the inherent limitation that the preparation of high molecular weight MQ copolymers (Mw ≥ 30,000 g/mol) via the hydrolysis and condensation of solicate salts generally results in an intractable gel, vinylphenyl-containing MQ silicone resin with a high molecular weight was designed and synthesized through the hydrosilylation reaction of vinyl-containing MQ silicone resin and linear poly(diphenylsiloxane) with two terminal Si–H bonds. The weight average molecular weight of these modified copolymers reported here is at least 30,000 dal·mol−1. These polymers have favorable thermal stability and a higher refractive index than that of the base resin due to the formation of novel regular macromolecular structures and the introduction of phenyl groups. These inorganic/organic hybrid materials could be used as a potential component for temperature-resistance electronics adhesive, heat-resistant coatings and high-performance liquid silicone rubber. Moreover, the proposed process also provides a possibility to choose higher molecular weight MQ silicones according to application requirements.

Abstract:
The glutathione and NADP + status of perfused rabbit lung was deter mined both before and after perfusion with 1 mM paraquat. The pul monary glutathione redox state was similar to that of liver, having a glutathione/glutathione disulfide ratio of about 240. This ratio was lower in lungs perfused with glucose-free medium, a condition in which NADPH probably becomes limiting. Perfusion with paraquat signifi cantly increased the pulmonary glutathione disulfide content, particu larly in the absence of glucose, resulting in a glutathionelglutathione disulfide ratio of <100. NADP+ levels in rabbit lung were increased approximately two-fold by perfusion with paraquat in medium con taining glucose and three-fold in the absence of glucose.

Abstract:
Abstract Pederin analyses of single Paederus riparius specimens reared from the egg and kept for prolonged periods of time show that only the females are able to biosynthesize the substance. Preimaginal stages efficiently store pederin transferred by the females into their eggs and the males’ pederin content decreases slowly over time. Only males with access to eggs con taining the substance moderately increase their pederin load. The females begin to accumu late the toxin a few weeks after imaginal eclosion and build up reserves for the egg laying period within 60 days. This is discussed with regard to the life cycle of P. riparius. During reproduction, when the females loose pederin due to maternal transfer, they must replenish their pederin reserves. This biosynthesis is not reflected in the amount found per individual.

Abstract:
This article considers the roles of yak bodies in relations between Han Chinese and Khampa Tibetan communities during the early twentieth century. It argues that bovine bodies were sites of Han-Tibetan interaction wherein culture, biology, and locality were intertwined. I chronicle the earliest large-scale engagement of the Chinese state with yak pastoralism in the context of its efforts to consolidate control over the eastern Tibetan region of Kham. Yak husbandry is traditionally an enterprise of Tibetans and other Himalayan ethnic groups, but the yak was targeted for ‘improvement’ by Han Chinese modernizers beginning in the 1930s. An effort to decouple the yak from its Tibetan cultural context at the Taining Experimental Zone saw mixed results. Livestock scientists there made modest gains in productivity, yet they did so by approximating to a high degree the nomadic mode of production from which they were attempting to extract the yak.

We are developing a collaborative research environment, the Collaboratory for Microscopic Digital Anatomy (CMDA), to provide remote access to the sophisticated instrumentation located at the Na-tional Center for Microscopy and Imaging Research (NCMIR). The project’s initial focus is the col-lection and analysis of data from NCMIR’s unique intermediate-high voltage transmission electron microscope (HVEM), an instrument expressly designed to obtain images from thick specimens con-taining substantial 3-D structure. Because of the electron optical characteristics of the microscope, its images represent a 2-D projection of the specimen’s 3-D structure. 3-D data is derived, using axial tomography, from a series of projections acquired as the specimen is successively tilted in small angu-lar increments. Visualizing the 3-D volume data generated by this procedure is a key challenge facing the project. Our experience suggests that existing visualization mechanisms are limited in their ability to fully access the data’s biologically interesting information.

Abstract:
Excavation of deep and long tunnels faces several distinctive challenges such as unknown geological structures, high groundwater pressure, and high in situ stress, as compared with conventional tunnels. The deep and long Taining tunnel in Fujian Province, South China, was excavated in complex geological settings. This tunnel had to pass through various squeezing fault zones and intensely jointed zones. Large deformations and high-pressure groundwater were frequently encountered during excavation. To predict the potential adverse geological structures, a comprehensive method, which included tunnel seismic prediction and ground penetration radar detection as well as horizontal drilling, was developed. Energy release and pressure reduction, as well as timely sealing, pre-excavation curtain grouting, and radial grouting were adopted to control the high-pressure groundwater. Countermeasures including improvement of support stiffness, double-layered primary support, and pre-support, increase of preset deformation, grouting reinforcement, and timely installation of permanent lining were taken to ensure safe construction in the surrounding rock masses under high in situ stress.

Soil-borne plant pathogenic fungi cause serious losses in agricultural products. The antagonistic fungi for the control of plant diseases have increased efficiency and use of space has emerged as an alternative to other methods for the protection of agricultural products. One of the fungi used for this purpose is Trichoderma species. In this study mu-tant isolates of Trichoderma spp. were used. The resistance and pro-tease enzyme activities of mutant isolates against abiotic factors such as temperature, drought and salinity were investigated. Mutant iso-lates of Trichoderma sp. were showed differed in tolerance to differ-ent abiotic stress factors. Protease enzyme activity produced by iso-lates was influenced by the tested abiotic factors. In the medium con-taining 30% PEG, the highest protease activity was determined in Tm13 isolate. Indigenous Trichoderma strains produced proteases in high temperature, drought and saline conditions. This indicates that isolates may be promising candidates in agricultural production.

Abstract:
Red wines obtained by microvinification in the laboratory and adjusted to three pH values (3.2, 3.6 and 4.0) were examined for the formation of anthocyanin-derived pigments throughout nine months of storage in bottles at 15 °C. The formation of the pigments was also followed in aliquots of the wines at pH 3.2 with added acetaldehyde (800 mg/L). Pigment analyses were accomplished by HPLC using double on-line detection by diode array spectrophotometry and mass spectrometry. Two dif ferent types of pigments were observed. The first were products derived from the condensation be tween anthocyanins and flavanols by ethyl bridges. The second corresponded to products showing an additional heterocycle in the anthocyanin structure (vitisin-like pigments); of these, vitisin B, which derives from malvidin 3-monoglucoside, was the most important one. Products similar to vitisin B derived from other anthocyanins were also detected, as well as structurally related pigments con taining flavanol moieties. The formation of all these pigments involves the acetaldehyde, since they appeared or were enhanced as a result of its addition, and were also favored in more acidic wines.

Abstract:
Under the term Nutrition, we think of nutrients and other substances of food that are responsible for main-taining the health, growth, and development of the body. So, it can be said that nutrition is the base of the body as well as life. The existence of human life depends upon nutritional food but the merely intake of nutritional food is not sufficient for proper growth and development. It is equally necessary to know that the nutritional elements required for the body are properly absorbed or not. In the present era, everyone wants to know only about nutritional supplements, but people are not much aware of the rules of food preparation, rules of proper intake, etc. Rules of proper food intake ensure the optimum benefits of the nutritional values of the food. Certain factors which influence the nutritional properties of food are de-scribed in Ayurvedic classical texts. This paper deals with the rules of proper food intake mentioned in Kashyap Samhita, Khilasthana, 5th chapter Bhojyopakramaniyadhyay i.e. Atisheeta, Atyushna, Atisnigdha, Ruksha, Atishushka food may cause diseases although these foods may be full of the nutritional substanc-es.

Abstract:
We have evaluated the effect of 'Brain Respiration training on brain activity' using Karhunen-Loeve (KL) decomposition as a method for spatio-temporal analysis of the electroencepha logram (EEG). BR training is a form of breath-work to optimize the function of the brain by concentrating Qi energy in the brain. Recently, BR-training has been reported to improve emotional maturity (i.e., EQ), short-term memory and intuition (Yoo et al., 1998). EEG data were taken during BR-training from 12 young BR-trainees (average age: 9.4 years) who had trained fro 4 to 14 months, and during relaxation from age matched non-trained children. Spatio-temporal analysis showed a significant difference of EEG dynamics in right prefrontal, right inferior frontal, posterior temporal, parietal and occipital areas between BR-trainees and the control group. Amplitude of eigenvector components of BR-trainees in the areas of frontal, temporal and occipital cortex was larger than that of non-trained children (values were smaller in parietal cortex), with remarkably high amplitude alpha coherence all over the scalp. These results suggest that BR-taining possibly activates brain function through changes in the activity of the frontal association area where higher mental integration and creative activities are mediated.

Abstract:
The article deals with various aspects of on the reproduction of young people’s ethno-cultural identities in the contexts of everyday family practices, ethno-religious education and peer group interactions within a wider multiethnic environment. The focus is on the problems of harmonizing the regulatory require- ments of the family and the wider socio-cultural environment of the multi-ethnic region, within which ethnic constructions are redefined. Actualization of behavior model occurs in the process of realizing all the barriers and resources that are signif- icant at a given time. One of the factors that determine the family practices of main- taining traditional culture and personal adaptation in foreign cultural conditions is the involvement in social networks, migration plans, and intra-family careers. At the same time, the problem of reconciling different regulatory requirements of the family and the social environment is most clearly manifested in the space of gender roles and regimes. In addition, in multi-ethnic and multi-confessional communi- ties, the confessional aspect of the “friend-foe” opposition is clearly manifested in everyday interaction with pear groups, and ethnic identity, based on the ideas of one’s own people, traditions, lifestyle, character and behavior of others, is the basis for the formation of interethnic relations among young people.

Abstract:
Characters are formed in a community through tradition, custom, and cultural activities. A religious tradition called Kupatan has been car- ried out by the Madurese community, especially in Bangkalan, and has been passed down from generation to generation. This study aims to determine the Islamic character values in the Kupatan tradition. The re- sults of this study reveal that the Kupatan tradition could build Islamic character values of the Bangkalan community through various activities in it, namely silaturrahmi, anjang-sana, and almsgiving. The Kupatan tradition is held every year in the month of Shawwal, to be precise after seven days of the Sunnah fast by following the instructions of their an- cestors. Through this tradition, people could increase friendships (main- taining kinship ties) through visits to the houses of family, friends, and fellow community members (silaturrahmi). Silaturrahmi is highly recom- mended in Islam since it could extend life and expand sustenance (rezeki). Besides, the tradition of almsgiving (sedekah), in which all members of the community, both the fortunate and the less fortunate ones, exchange gifts, could also build moral values. The gift-givers should not expect anything in return but the pleasure (ridha) of Allah SWT. The manifesta- tion of Islamic character values in Kupatan could form a community that is religious, responsible, socially and environmentally caring, friendly and communicative, loves the homeland, and is creative.

Abstract:
The article describes various social motives for using social networks (maintaining and developing relationships, belongness to a particular group, and self-presentation). The results of the study showed that users of social networks (n = 579) can be divided into four different profiles depending on the degree of their motivation to use social networks (1 — moderate orientation to belongness and self-presentation; 2 — orientation towards main¬taining social relations ; 3 — low social motivation; 4 — high social motivation). The comparison of users from different profiles by their personality traits and online behavior showed that users with high social motivation demonstrate the higher level of extraversion, agree¬ableness, and openness to experience compared with individuals from other profiles. Users from the “orientation towards maintaining social relations” profile do not differ from users with low social motivation in terms of the level of agreeableness and openness to experience, and users from the profile “moderate orientation to belongness and self-presentation” do not differ from users with high motivation regarding the level of neuroticism and openness to experience. In general, respondents from the profile with high social motivation demonstrate the most intensive use of social networks for all behavioral parameters. The smallest differences in behavior in the social networks are observed between respondents from the profiles “orientation towards maintaining social relations” and “low social motivation,’’ as well as “moderate orientation to belongness and self-presentation” and “high social motivation”.

Abstract:
In the light of the findings presented in this paper, among the volcanic products of the Upper Cretaceous, referred to as "the first volcanic phase" (Drovenik, 1961), two lithostratigraphic units can be singled out within the Timok Magmatic Complex (TMC): - The lower one, consisting of volcanogenic, subaerial, dominantly hornblende and?site volcaniclastic, formed on land, and less abundant volcanic and sub-volcanic-hypoabyssal rocks. It is the main source of sulfide mine?ralization in Bor. It was formed before the Upper Turonian and consists of hornblende and?site and occasionally low biotite. Minor constituents are biotite-hornblende dacite and some and?site and dacite materials con?taining augite in addition to hornblende and biotite. - The upper one, from the Upper Turonian period when the volcanic activity of the region had ended, is marine deposited and epiclastic. Intercalated with Senonian marls, it is composed of land deposited Turonian volcanogenic material of all generations. Fresh material mostly consisting of hornblende and?site volcanoclastics prevails in it. Fresh epiclastics include ore mineral epiclasts. Epiclastics composed of epiclasts of hydro thermally altered rocks were observed which also include ore epiclasts. The ore epiclasts originate from copper ore. The boundary between the volcanogenic Turonian and the epiclastic deposits is a well-recognized unconformity. Table 1 in the text summarizes the main characteristics of the Turonian volcanogenic rocks, primarily those of volcaniclastics, as well as those of epiclastic deposits.

Abstract:
The article presents the results of a study of the state of production of a foam glass and the nomencla-ture of its products. It is shown that it is expedient to use the recycled glass obtained from the bottle battle, the defective glass and the double-glazed windows as a raw material for the production of the foam-glass. The re-quirements are formulated for glasses, which should have low viscosity values in the range of foaming tempera-tures. The features of the technology for the production of the foam glass aggregate at the specialized lines are outlined. The technology features are the composition of the charge and temperature conditions of burning. The mixture for the production of the foam glass aggregate consists of glass flour, organomineral blowing agent con-taining water and food glycerin, as distinct from the slab foam glass, where soot or coke is used as a blowing agent. The results confirm the effectiveness of the use of the foam glass aggregate as a soundproofing backfill for floors. Currently, about 70% of the foam glass aggregate is used for roofs and stylobates; the rest is used in landscape design, road construction, foundations and major repair. In the future, the areas of application of the foam glass aggregate can be significantly expanded in the direction of building systems, lightweight aggregates, etc., which involves in-depth studies of the properties of this material.

PLOS ONE 15, no. 11 (November 20, 2020): e0242435. http://dx.doi.org/10.1371/journal.pone.0242435.

Abstract:
African animal trypanosomosis (AAT) is transmitted cyclically by tsetse flies and mechanically by biting flies (tabanids and stomoxyines) in West Africa. AAT caused by Trypanosoma congolense, T. vivax and T. brucei brucei is a major threat to the cattle industry. A mathematical model involving three vertebrate hosts (cattle, small ruminants and wildlife) and three vector flies (Tsetse flies, tabanids and stomoxyines) was described to identify elimination strategies. The basic reproduction number (R0) was obtained with respect to the growth rate of infected wildlife (reservoir hosts) present around the susceptible population using a next generation matrix technique. With the aid of suitable Lyapunov functions, stability analyses of disease-free and endemic equilibria were established. Simulation of the predictive model was presented by solving the system of ordinary differential equations to explore the behaviour of the model. An operational area in southwest Nigeria was simulated using generated pertinent data. The R0 < 1 in the formulated model indicates the elimination of AAT. The comprehensive use of insecticide treated targets and insecticide treated cattle (ITT/ITC) affected the feeding tsetse and other biting flies resulting in R0 < 1. The insecticide type, application timing and method, expertise and environmental conditions could affect the model stability. In areas with abundant biting flies and no tsetse flies, T. vivax showed R0 > 1 when infected wildlife hosts were present. High tsetse populations revealed R0 <1 for T. vivax when ITT and ITC were administered, either individually or together. Elimination of the transmitting vectors of AAT could cost a total of US$ 1,056,990 in southwest Nigeria. Hence, AAT in West Africa can only be controlled by strategically applying insecticides targeting all transmitting vectors, appropriate use of trypanocides, and institutionalising an appropriate barrier between the domestic and sylvatic areas.

Abstract:
231 Background: Although effective communications regarding symptoms may decrease distress and patients and their spouses, families tend to experience barriers to open communication. The purpose of this cross-sectional survey study is to examine the role of cancer-related communications in symptom burden in families coping with advanced non-small cell lung cancer. Methods: Couples were approached while waiting for their routine visit at the thoracic center. 25 patients (58% female; 78% white; mean age: 62.7 years; 72% stage III; 2.3 months post diagnosis) and their spouses completed measures of cancer symptoms (ESAS), psychological distress (BSI), and illness communication (CCAT_PF). Results: Dyadic analyses using multi-level modeling revealed that patients generally rated their own symptom burden significantly lower compared to spouses rating patient symptoms (P < .0001). However, this discrepancy in perceptions of symptoms was a function of cancer communication (P < .001) so that the more couples communicate about cancer-related issues (e.g., treatment decision making) the more they agreed regarding symptom burden. Importantly, a discrepancy in symptoms ratings was significantly related to spouses’ depressive symptoms (P < . 01) so that the greater the discrepancy, the greater spouses depression. Lastly, more effective cancer communication was related to lower cancer symptoms in patients (P < .05) as well as depression (P < .01) and anxiety (P < .05) in both patients and spouses. Conclusions: These findings highlight the importance of effective cancer communication in reducing symptom burden in couples coping with advanced lung cancer. Behavioral interventions that target communication skills taining may improve symptom management in patients and reduce psychological distress in spouses.

Scientific process consists in multiple repetitions of researches in order to verify their results. They are also publicized and undergo the process of criticism and evaluation by the scientific community. The science is the social process in which the scientists con-stantly look at the results of the others’ work, accept them or reject based on the objec-tive criteria. It happens through the review of the text intended for publication as well as publication of polemical and critical texts. Also during the scientific conferences there is a time for discussions among scientists, which influence the direction of the development of a field of knowledge and of the researches. This process was clearly visible during the last few conferences on chemistry and sciences education. During the 22nd ICCE and 11th ECRICE in Rome Prof. Mansoor Niaz noted that in thicker and thicker, 1000-page, con-taining more and more knowledge textbooks there should be a place (e.g. additional 100 pages) for history of the chemical concepts, including doubts accompanying development of science, illustrating the thesis that it was a very complicated process, not linear at all. In response, Prof. Peter Atkins said that the textbooks did not contain more and more concepts and new knowledge but rather more and more „help“ for students – more ex-amples, exercises, visualizations – models, diagrams, charts which are crucial especially for those, in case of whom English is not the first language. According to him, adding 10% of additional factual knowledge is pointless.

In this study, the effect of grape pomace (GE), orange peel extract (OE), and nisin (N) with modified atmosphere packaging (MAP: 70% CO2 + 30% N2) was investigated on the quality and shelf life of ham produced from low fat Silver carp surimi (containing inulin fiber [FI] and salatrim [S]) kept in the refrigerator with T1: control (con-taining nitrite), T2: control + MAP, T3: GE 0.5%+ FI 5% +OE 0.5% +N 0.5%, T4: S 5%+ OE 0.5%+ GE 0.5% +N 0.5% + MAP, T5: FI 2.5%+ S 2.5%+ GE 0.5%+ OE 0.5%+ N 0.5%+ MAP. The texture characteristics of ham at the beginning of storage, cooking loss, chemical indices (peroxide value, pH, color index), and microbial (total count bacteria, psychrotrophic bacteria, mold and yeast, Clostridium botulinum) during 42 days storage in the refriger-ator (4 ± 1°C) were evaluated. The results of the tests were analyzed according to Duncan’s by SPSS software with 95% confidence. The results showed that inulin and salatrim fibers have a positive effect on the texture and cooking loss of ham and inulin had a better effect, so the value of cooking loss in treatment 3 was 1.62% and control treatment was 2.09%. Using three natural preservatives along with MAP could slow down the oxidative spoilage, microbial and color index changes in ham. These combinations also inhibited the growth of C. botulinum. In most tests examined, treatment 3 showed no significant difference with treatment 1 (ham containing nitrite) (P > 0.05), so this treatment shows that natural additives (nitrite replacement) improve the quality properties of low-fat ham.

Abstract:
The adoption of technology may be a necessary condition, but it is not sufficient for the digital transformation, seen as the mobilizing challenge to do something new and different. Without a strategic vision, we take the risk of acquiring resources to do the same as before, essentially changing the format. This inability imprisons the school to inconsequential models, resources and strategies. Interdisciplinary, social and project-based learning that augmented and virtual reality, internet of things, robots, and artificial intelligence and digital assistants can bring to teaching, where are they? But also mobile, games, simulators and multimedia can influence the routine by inspiring collaborative creativity. On the other hand, the pandemic, in terms of the adoption of technology, constitutes a kind of insurrection against the fatalism that it is not possible to restart the system, that is, rethink the school. This study aims to investigate the degree of acceptance and use of technology by teachers in middle school and high school education and their approaches in the classroom. As a methodological support to this study, the model “Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology” (UTAUT)) was used and a questionnaire applied to teachers at our school, ob-taining 90 responses. The investigation revealed that the performance expectancy and the ICT compatibility have a greater significant positive influence on the motivation and involvement of teachers. The study also clarifies that teachers intend to use ICT and that they see in them a different di-dactic tool that allows different approaches, thus increasing the quality of teaching and learning.

Abstract:
Under the stagnating economy and turbulence in global and national markets, coun tries face a thorny question of establishing the strategic priorities of the state policy and main taining sustainable growth of individual industrial companies. It is impossible to determine the parameters of the sustainable development strategy without the understanding of principles and specifics of competitive behaviour in industrial markets. The paper centres on the methodologi cal development and empirical assessment of enterprises’ competitive behaviour in industrial markets. The theoretical basis of the study includes the system approach enriched with the new empirical theory, the theory of strategic behaviour, theories of competition and several oth ers. The study of theoretical approaches to the definition of the concept “competitive behaviour” made it possible to identify the main parameters of its assessment, such as market structure, intensity of competition, development of differentiation and innovations. The suggested meth odological approach encompasses a consequent assessment of the intensity of competition with the use of the concentration and turbulence indicators and the analysis of the tightness of cor relation dependence between market shares and expenses related to commercial and innovative activities of industrial enterprises. The author takes eight industrial markets in Russia to test the developed approach. The findings reveal there are only four markets with an active com petitive behaviour, where enterprises take advantage of product differentiation and innovations. 110 Journal of New Economy 2020 • Vol. 21 • No. 2 Development of Industrial Markets and Enterprises According to Yudaev–Ramensky’s classification, in these industrial markets experent and vio lent strategies dominate. Abstract:
Curly red chili (Capsicum annum L.) is widely cultivated us-ing inorganic fertilizers which causes high production costs. Chili is valued because of the level of spiciness. The level of spiciness of chili is determined by the level of capsaicin which is affected by nutrients in the growing media. The nutrient of the planting media can be fulfilled by degrading the growing media by microbes in organic fertilizer. One type of organic fertilizer containing degrading microbes is biofertiliz-er. Biofertilizer and biogas sludge is one of the organic fertilizers con-taining microbes and organic materials that are able to support nutri-ent levels of the planting medium. This study aimed to analyze growth parameters include chlorophyll content and measure capsaicin levels in curly red chili. The study was conducted at an agricultural demonstration plot in Wukirsari Vil-lage, Cangkringan, Sleman. The study design used RCBD (Randomized Complete Block Design), the data were analyzed by ANOVA (Analysis of Variance followed by Duncan’s Multiple Distance Test (DMRT) at the 95% confidence level. The highest growth parameters and capsa-icin content were obtained on curly red chili plants which were given biogas sludge 36 mL + biofertilizer 10 L / ha. The application of bi-ofertilizer and biogas sludge in various concentrations given has not been able to increase the average total chlorophyll content of curly red chili plants. Thus, it can be concluded that the most appropriate dose of curly red chili is 36 mL biogas sludge + 10 L bio fertilizer/ha
