Abstract:
In this era of highly growing technology, new advancement in materials is necessary because of requirement of high quality and accuracy. To determine the quality of the product, Surface Roughness is a very important factor. Surface roughness not only enables one to have good surface properties, but gives accuracy to have a desired type of fit. Mechanical properties of composites are also improved like Tensile strength, Fatigue Strength, corrosion resistant, temperature dependent failures (creep). Composite is super material which is having matrix and reinforcement (to improve the quality of matrix), in this research work Al6061 matrix along with SiC (5%) is taken to fabricate the composite. Stir Casting is one of the best composite fabrication process having a mechanical stirrer (Ultrasonic stirrer), it gives mixing up to nanoparticle levels. A cylindrical Work piece of dimensions Diameter (30mm), Length (100mm) is turned on the lathe and divided into 9 segments to measure roughness by changing the machining parameters like cutting Speed, depth of cut, feed rate. By analyzing various research papers three levels of speed (27.23m/min,60.21m/min,94.24m/min), feed(.04mm/rev,.12mm/rev,.20mm/rev), depth of cut (.1mm, .2mm, .3mm) are taken to perform experimental work. This study focuses on optimizing surface roughness by using taguchi method. subsequently, 27 readings are taken into consideration to make a regression model, and ANOVA is done which helps us to predict the Roughness without doing any experimental work. The optimal parameters obtained are Speed=94.24m/min, Depth of cut=.1mm, feed =.0795 mm/rev.

As the penetration of distributed generation goes up rapidly, the traditional power system is faced with challenges. One of the most severe problems for renewable energy is the fluctuation of the output power. If the output power of distributed generators could not be consumed by local loads, inverse load flow may occur. As a result, developing three-phase unbalanced load flow algorithms for distribution system considering distributed generation seem to be particularly important. By means of day-ahead scheduling, operators could take it as a reference to make an optimal decision. This thesis proposes a novel probabilistic load flow method that is based on Taguchi’s orthogonal arrays from Taguchi method. The proposed method only needs to sample probabilistic variables through orthogonal arrays and utilize few deterministic load flows to obtain the mean and standard deviation of bus voltages. An optimal experiment is also achieved through main effects from Taguchi’s method with the largest deviation from the nominal line-flow result. This thesis also presents a more practical model for distributed generators. To proof the well-behavior of this model, some abnormal operation scenarios are demonstrated. When over-voltage or low-voltage situation occurs caused by excess output power from wind turbine and PV, the model will acquire a voltage set point from optimal algorithm in order to absorb or generate reactive power to improve voltage profile considering the deviation of demands and output power from renewable energies. The simulation results were compared with results attained by Monte Carlo simulation (MCS) and point estimate method (PEM). A 25-bus Penghu system, an IEEE 118-bus system and a modified 12-bus feeder in Taiwan are used as test systems. The results show that the proposed method attains both accurate means and standard deviations of bus voltages and line flows and is time-saving.

The major objective of this study is to analyze the better way to solve the overusing electricity with the Taguchi analysis method by choosing the overusing additional charge or the backup generator fuel cost. The methods of minimum costs will be found in solving the over usage of electricity by means of orthogonal arrays, analysis of covariance, responded charts and graphics, and even the STB (Smaller the Best). Taking the advantage of the minimum costs on overusing electricity will help to decrease more extra expanses as well. By adopting the derived principle on 2012, the charge of overusing electricity would be reduced by about 21.72%. As to 2013, the charge without using the backup generator is lower than that with using the backup generator by about 61.58% which is about three million NT dollars.

The diagonal pliers is a kind of hand tool with high rigidity which is commonly seen on the market. The diagonal pliers can be used for cutting thin strings of Iron and copper, and the diagonal pliers can also be used for stripping a plastic surface that surrounds a wire. However, there is on specific standard of manufacturing diagonal pliers on market. Therefore, in this research of diagonal pliers, we focus on changing three parameters of pliers and look for the best result. The purpose of this research will focus on the parameters of the diagonal pliers, such as the distance of shaft(35.8mm), the cutting edge(30o), and the angle of cutting(30o). We analyze the stress on cutting of the products which are sold on the market. We change the distance of the shafts, the angle of cutting tools, and the edge of cutters, in order to look for the effect of stress. Then we use the software of the finite element analysis to simulate the cutting stress of diagonal pliers, and we also find out the parameters combination of minimum cutting stress by using the Taguchi Method. We also can find out the maximum cutting times of diagonal pliers with the same scales through this researching result. As the result, the stress from the cutting face will decrease by lengthening the distance of the shafts, increasing the cutting edge and the angle of the cutters. Besides, as these three parameters coming out, we can tell that the lengths between the shafts have the largest influence for the cutting stress.

Over the last decade, electric tool companies have mushroomed all over Taiwan. Although the process capability is continued to be promoted, the price competition is also intense at the same time, and causes low gross profit ratio. Recently energy shortage has resulted in the price rising of global raw materials, so the Profitability of Taiwan''s power tool companies is limited. That is why product specifications and features have to be further improved, and meanwhile research and development (R&D) cycle must be shortened. This essay tries to analyze those components which all will affect the torque output of impact drivers. They are motors, hammering blocks, spring and steel balls, and their basic specifications, features and principles will be further analyzed by Taguchi Method of Product Design to obtain the experiment data in the least experiment frequency in order to find out the their best tie-in parameters. After that, these parameters will be verified by real experiments to confirm the models formed by Taguchi Method.The result shows that the important components are impact blocks, motors, springs and steel balls in sequence. The best tie-in parameter of impact drivers’ torque output, which confirmed by experiments, is 31 N-m compared with the original 17 N-m. That means the max. torque is increased by 14 N-m. Furthermore, this research result can be the future reference of the structural design for those R&D and design people.

The urban bicycle is used as a studied example. The design variables of a bicycle frame are achieved by Taguchi method. Utilizing the software, ANSYS/LS-DYNA, the safety requirements of bicycle test simulation analysis is presented. The important design parameters of a bicycle frame for the deformation and mass are obtained by the experimental design method, Taguchi method and the analysis of variance. For the minimum deformation and mass of bicycle frame, the best design parameters for bicycle frames can be found. In addition. the regression equation can be obtained by orthogonal arrays. Finally, the best design parameters from the regression analysis are consistent with the results by Taguchi method.

Due to the high growth rate of manufacturing industry for 3C products, automobile application and tools, the complexity and process precision of components have been required. During the process, the surface precision, time of process and efficiency are strongly influenced by cutting tool wear and coating. Therefore, it is important to study the surface coating on the cutting tool. Firstly, in order to discover the differences between cutting parameters and flank wear, an end mill without coating treatment has been using in a changing circumstances of cutting speed, feed rate and depth of cut during process. After discovering the influence of cutting parameters and flank wear, based on Taguchi method end mills with variety of coating treatment were used for an experiment and the main purpose of this experiment is to show the ability of anti-flank wear by using different coated end mills. According to an observation from SEM, by using the coated end mills with different processing conditions of coating, the different thickness of coat on those mills has no significant influence on flank wear. Finally, based on the result of hardness test, the direct ratio of cutting hardness to thickness is shown.

The first work in this thesis is to collect the documents in market regarding noise elimination character of the silencer or muffler in both automobile and motorbike. Then we analyze the performance of different parameters, which may effect the silencer or muffler, and emphasizing the theoretical calculation in noise elimination (just like the sound power reduction, insertion loss, transmission loss, noise reduction) usually can be discussed on the silencer performance with experiment analysis in fluid velocity or not. After understanding the theorem in different kind of silencer, the next step is to choose the factor which may effect the silencer possibly, and then set the level of each factor in reasonable in order to use Taguchi Method. This thesis will discuss the elimination performance and the parameter which effect the sound reduction, and use the method of experiment design (Taguchi Method) to carry out the experiment analysis, and the best factor combination with less times experiment will be found.

The drilling is the most important processes in PCB manufacturing, and the qualities of drilling holes, position accuracy and wall roughness, are the key issues for the posterior plating or assembly processes. Therefore, the severe standards demand for drills, the main expendables of drilling process, is indispensable. Consequently, many drill suppliers always suffer the returned merchandise due to the relative stern inspection of tool face defects. The purpose of thesis is to study the relationships between the position accuracy and the drilling process by orthogonal array experimentation through Taguchi method. First, choose the tool face defects, overlap/gap/flare/taper/chipping/offset as factors and take the CPK value from the position accuracy inspection machine as data. Then, analysis the S/N responds to decide the optimum combination of factors and levers. Final, through the post verify test and employ the optimum result to reestablish the wider delivery specifications to avoid the over design and achieve the cost down purpose.

This research mainly analyses and improves the characteristics of a single-phase induction motor via finite element software Flux2D supplied by PEEI. Because the output torque of this motor is small but the temperature is rising fast, it is required to improve its torque output with relative low temperature rising. The research employs Flux2D to create geometry model of the motor, to set up the circuit, and to analyze the temperature and torsion characteristic of the motor, via changing primary factors such as the circles of winding, capacitor, airgap and thickness of the core. The simulated results were then compared with the experiment results. There is discrepancy between them but the trends of curve are very similar. The simulated results are hence of important reference. The improvement of torque and temperature is then studied. At last, with the Taguchi method, the best achievable values of temperature and torque are estimated. This research provides a method to the analysis and improvement of the motor characteristics by Flux2D. This method can be used by industry for identifying and modification of motor characteristics.

Through the theoretical discussion to analyze the stiffness of hydrostatic bearing on the machine, use Taguchi method to find the best combination of parameters on stiffness of hydrostatic bearing. By this research, we can obtain the stiffness analytic methodology of hydrostatic bearing to improve machine precision. When two mechanical elements by force after contact with each other and relative motion, we must consider the nature of the contact between the two surfaces, such as tribological deformation and contact phenomena. Experimental through multifunction tribological testing machine to simulate the contact element motion conditions, purposes in the analysis of the point contact element in contact under different forward force, lateral force and the rotational speed when the temperature, the friction coefficient and the resistance observed in the different control parameters. change differences. At present, on the interface of the precision components mostly only explore the positive force of the impact, however, the operation of the machine, the part of the lateral force components are frequently subjected. Therefore need to understand the lateral force on the tribological performance of mechanical components for moving, and thus improve the quality and enhance. Combined with gray relational data obtained through the experiment with the Taguchi method to analyze the correlation degree, learned by a factor Reaction: the positive load the parameters is the biggest factor to affect the outcome, the positive load the greater the higher the temperature will follow; lateral load to join, has little effect on the temperature, but the friction is the sign of abating. The results of this study also confirmed the grey Taguchi method comparable on the tribological tests associated..

In general, the product tests are usually conduted before failure, but the commodity failure mode analysis is conducted to evaluate whether the defectives exist or not in products after accident or problems were occured . So that, there are different natures and technical levels, the latter is more complicated than the former. The objective of this research is to improve the quality of commodity failure mode analysis. First, it is mainly applicable of Taguchi quality engineering with static characteristic and design of experiments . Adopting L4 (23) orthogonal array and Mircosoft Excel software and it is expected with the minimum number of experiments to find the worst operation conditions of the case product. There are many design of reinforcing ribs for the structure of thin plastic parts, which regularly leading to the regional thickness distributions not uneven. In this study, the shrinkage and warpage phenomena of the thin plastic parts are analyzed by injection molding method. The optimal processing are determined using Taguchi and TOPSIS during the development process is shortened to improve the injection molding cycle time. The experimental factors are used accord to the mold injection pressure. The injection parameters are determined from the CAE molding software and the real actual mold injection, including the gate location, injection pressure, melting temperature, injection time, mold temperature, packing time and cooling time. Employing the experimental method of L18 Taguchi orthogonal method, TOPSIS and actual mold injection results, the optimal injection parameters are established and are used for actual mould injection. The simulation results show that injection parameters for Taguchi experimental design can effectively improve the shrinkage and warpage of thin plastic parts and decrease the injection production cycle time and enhance productivity and lower production costs.

Wire sweep is always important subject on IC packaging. Especially on the filling process with the mold compound in the package. When the process parameter disposed improperly. Too much question accounted for the short-circuit.This study aimed at investigating of the effect of IC packaging during the wire sweep on the drag force with the numerical simulation.In experiment, we use a LQFP-48 package to be the example.The wire sweeping was used for the different wire diameter, resin temperature, mold temperature…by employing the CAE program. The analysis of this study is divided into two stages including the perform step and the finishing step.First a start, simulate the filling of IC packaging by mold flow analysis software. Moreover, estimate the wire sweep and paddle shift of package by structural analysis software. At last, Taguchi analysis was employed in designing experimental parameters of IC packaging processes. The sensitivity of these controlling factors on the quality of final package was assessed in order to reach the optimum characteristics.We propose a design method to solve the problems from the wire sweep and compare from the experiments, and use numerical simulation and Taguchi method to confirm the experimental results. In the results of this study, it illustrate that the derived optimum characteristics indeed provides good performance of quality characteristics of load condition. This results can provide a reference of IC packaging.

After collecting from sewage networks, sewage of families is diluted with river water and processed by a sewage treatment plant to discharge standard compliant water quality for transforming as recycle water or discharging to open sea. However, strains in a bio-reaction tank could be killed due to significant variations of sewage density causing by extreme flow changes of river and consequently the treatment cost is increased. Hence, a practical challenge of sewage treatment plant is how to predict sewage flow and to achieve low operating cost while discharging standard compliant water. This study based on historical sewage data proposes an operation mode for sewage treatment plant. Using flows of entering system, PH values of pre-processing system, and counts of suspended solids, this work adopts Taguchi method to build a prediction model for sewage flow and quality. The treatment plant can advance schedule needed treatment tanks, including primary clarifier tank, bio-reaction tank, and secondary clarifier tank, for efficiently control treatment costs by the most suitable tank numbers with standard compliant discharged water. After analyzing one year data of a sewage treatment plant, this research reduces 14.85% in Spring and 4.65 % in an year of original power consumption according to suggested operational mode for various seasons and rainfalls. Hence, this result can be served as decision support for sewage treatment.

The object of this study is to improve the numerical simulation method to reproduce the mold flow stage of microchip encapsulation by C-MOLD. For traditional microchip encapsulation modeling method in C-MOLD, part runners and connectors are often used to simulate the openings of leadframe. But part runners and connectors are one-dimensional geometry, they can’t figure out rightly the early design stage in IC packaging. So we use the two-dimensional simulative technicality, cross flow element, in order to simulate the flow resistance of the leadframe opening. By comparing the experimental and simulated results, we hope the relationship of simulated flow pattern could match the experimental results. At the same time, Taguchi method was used to reduce variance for the robust design of mold flow simulation of IC packaging. We chose mold flow balance, filling time for TSOP Ⅱ LOC packaging and underfill process as quality characteristics and decide control factors and levels which affect system robustness to put on the orthogonal array conducting experiments. The object is to find out the optimal assembly of control factors and levels. Using the Analysis of Variance finds out major factors which affects quality characteristics. By this way, the design procedure is more effective and systematic.

This study optimized the quality characteristic of the abdomen X-ray imaging using the Taguchi analysis. The exposed images of the contrast-detail plate phantom was graded and analyzed by 7 well trained radiographers to optimize the imaging quality characteristics. Eight operative factors of diagnostic X-ray facility were organized into 18 various combinations according to the Taguchi’s L18 recommendation. The 8 factors were grid ratio, filter, FOV, SID, gap, kVp, mAs, and exposure class. The plate phantom was assembled by 20 layers of 1-cm-thick solid water plates on top of a customized 2-cm-thick contrast detail plain plate. In addition, the contrast detail plain plate was drilled 144 (12x12) holes and each hole had unique depth (0.5-15 mm) and diameter (0.7-4 mm), respectively. The signal to noise ratio of the optimization process was thus defined as higher-the-better to imply the optimal contrast detail of phantom images. The optimal combination was verified as 10:1grid ratio、none filter、FOV43×43 cm2、SID85 cm、none air gap、86 kVp、32 mAs and E.C400. The results showed that the two commercially available unleaded petrol 92 and its Ninth Five different engine control parameters (including engine speed and torque speed) emissions under the conditions of CO, HC and CO2 injection four-stroke and four-stroke carburetor, two the average HC 203.6 and 120.6, respectively, has reached the significant level difference, and in a variety of different engine displacement, different oils, different engine speed, different tempe ratures and different engine temperature, the experiment produced of CO, no significant difference. According to the impact of statistical variables CO2 verificationmethod for the t-test , P- t values corresponding to the value of the two factors are greater than 0.1 , this experiment at different locomotive brand, and the trip made , CO2 emissions no significant difference ; that is, not because of the different motorcycle brands , which led to different CO2 emissions ; nor due to stroke a difference , and lead to different emissions CO2.

The study aim to investigate optimum control parameters of proton exchange membrane fuel cell system. The fuel-cell system is contained of a 220-W fuel cell stack, a metal hydride canister, electric fan, solenoid valve, pressure regulator, lead-acid battery, and a controller. To increase driving power in the equivalent hydrogen of system, the study indroduced Taguchi method. It determines optimum working conditions to obtain maximum power and supplied hydrogen rate of fuel cell system, From the experimental model, the result obtained optimum working conditions are : 45W power supply for heater band, 41.369kPa for the pressure controll of injecting hydrogen into the system, 1cm distance between fuel cell and hydrogen tnak, 96W for fuel cell operating power, and horizontal direction for the tank. From the present results tested maximum power is 645083J, and supply of hydrogen rate is 84%.

In this study, Taguchi Methods were used to synthesize powdered graphene oxide by Hummers method. The graphene oxide was deposited on indium tin oxide (ITO) substrate by electrophoretic deposition, and the surface morphology was observed and found electrophoretic deposition of the best conditions. In Taguchi''s L9(34) orthogonal arrays parameters, graphene oxide was electrophoretically deposited by changing parameters such as voltage and anode distance, temperature and weight percent concentration. Graphene oxide deposited heart-shaped pleated appearance differences can be observed by scanning electron microscope , and also observed the phenomenon of graphite stacking characteristics; Energy dispersion spectrometer instrument results show that carbon and oxygen elements in graphene oxide are majority, and the ratio close to 1: 1, means that the oxidation effect is good. In addition, the experimental results show that in the contact angle measurement, the maximum control factor of the S/N ratio reaction factor is the temperature. Secondary is concentration .Under the conditions of the parameters of the voltage of 7V, cathode anode distance 14 mm, temperature 55℃and concentration 1.5% , a minimum angle of 28 degrees was obtained. Atomic force microscope measurement results showed that the root mean square roughness Rq was 30.1nm and the center line average roughness Ra was 19.6nm under conditions of voltage of 7V, adistance of 14mm of cathode and anode, temperature of 55℃and concentration of 1.5% . The roughness is relatively smooth. S/N ratio of the maximum reaction factor control factor and contact angle measurement results are the same temperature is the maximum control factor. In this experiment, through the contact angle measurement and atomic force microscope results, the temperature can be obtained as the maximum control factor through the S/N ratio calculation, and the optimal parameters were found to be 5V, cathode anode distance 18mm, temperature 40℃, concentration 1% . By the surface structure and nature of the experimental analysis, to enhance the future of postgraduate medical technology, corrosion resistance, electrode efficiency, polymer composite materials, paint use.

Void is one of the common defects in the SMT process, and void can make the product failure easily. This study focuses on the improvement of notebook computer camera module, The study takes the parameters of the Stencil and the Squeegee as the main control factors, and then uses the L18 Orthogonal Arrays for the selected six three-level control factors to conduct experiments. Experimental results are analyzed by Taguchi accumulative analysis method to find the optimal process parameter level, to conduct prediction, and to verify experiment. The results show that the verification experiment can not only meet the prediction results, but also the yield is better than the prediction. It shows that the new parameter level found by the Taguchi accumulative analysis method is effectively and can also reduce the occurrence of the voids.

In this study, based on the original propeller design diagram, the propeller was subjected to three-dimensional modeling. Using the coordinate transformation method, the drawing plane software was used to convert the plane's leaf surface value to the propeller coordinate of the propeller through the cross-sectional shape of each part of the propeller. The three-dimensional relative position of the propeller section is obtained, stereo curve modeling is performed, and a three-dimensional propeller is drawn. In conjunction with the Taguchi Quality Engineering Method, Taguchi Transit Table was used for parameter change design, propeller parameters were changed, and the velocity and pressure analysis was combined with the ANSYS Static Structural software for finite element software in the ANSYS Static Structural for stress analysis. Finding the result is the best solution. The ANOVA method of variance analysis was used to verify the correctness of the Taguchi method. Based on statistics, experiments and process control were performed to achieve the dual goals of increasing product quality and reducing costs. Combine the multi-objective method, integrate the ANSYS flow field analysis to calculate the minimum stress value of the speed optimization and static analysis of ANSYS, and add the response values to the method. Obtain the parameter design values of the maximum speed and the minimum stress to optimize the quality. the result of. In the end, the individual experiments were analyzed for the most parameters of the results, and the analysis experiments were performed again to compare whether the theoretical best value and the experimental value obtained from the Taguchi analysis method were equal to determine the correctness of the experiment. The final experimental analysis of the results yielded the best combination of parameters after the original propeller change was improved. Improved parameter optimization design for maximum speed and minimum stress.

Objective: This study adopted Taguchi method to optimize the operative factors of static image in bone scan to achieve optimal image for patients undergone nuclear examination.Materials and Methods: Seven operative factors of routine gamma camera scanning (Siemens E-cam Dual Head γ Camera) were defined and assigned to various levels according to Taguchi’s L18 (21×36)recommendation. Eighteen combinations of various levels of seven factors were organized. A customized water plate phantom was specially designed to emphasize the spatial resolution of gamma camera in real scanning and composed by lines and many non-concentric circles. Then, every group of data was collected three time to ensure the reproducibility in each combination and analyzed to derive averaged grade, statistical fluctuation and derived S/N.Result: The optimal factor combination was distance of scan is 5cm, collimator type is LEHR;energy width is 30%;energy peak is 150keV;counts is 800K;zoom is 1.23 and Matrix size is 256 * 256. The optimal suggestion was verified by 30 patients from clinical examinations and gained large improvement from practical viewpoint. The derived grade from optimal setting was 0.57 higher than the one from conventional setting. Conclusions: The Taguchi analysis was proved as a convincible technique in optimizing routine nuclear examination.

In this study, design parameters related with the frame geometry are scheduled using Taguchi method for a general road bike frame. Then, according to these scheduled design parameters, the horizontal fatigue simulation is conducted by ANSYS software. Two bike frames, which have the same size except for lower tube thickness, are respectively used to measure the frame displacement under the static horizontal pull force. Then, the comparison is made between the data from actual measurement and from ANSYS software simulation. Also, the stress distribution of frame and safety coefficient are considered to investigate the related factors when a bike frame is designed. From these critical factors, ensure that the optimum design of frame with high strength and light mass can be achieved. According to the experimental technique of the Taguchi method, the important key parameters related with frame design, which have influence on the frame fatigue life, are chosen. Under the limit of the maximum safety coefficient, the optimum combination of design parameters are revealed.

In recent years, with the development of electrospinning technology, the development of nanofiber yarn has become one of the focused research. The goal of this study is to design a continuous nanofiber yarn mechanism with high steady and high production efficient. Through Taguchi orthogonal array and analysis of variance (ANOVA), using smaller experimental frequency, shorter experimental period and lower experimental costs to evaluate the effect of each factors, the optimum parameters for different quality characteristics can be determined. Further, the multiple quality characteristics is analyzed by ANOVA and principal component analysis (PCA). In this study, spinning 11.4tex as target, voltage is 20kV, temperature and humidity are set as 30±2℃/30±3%RH, the discussed control factors are draw ratio, nozzle size, flow rate, and elongation temperature. Draw ratio use 1.0times, 1.5times and 2.0times. Nozzle size use 20G(0.6mm), 22G(0.42mm) and 24G(0.31mm). Flow rate use 3ml/hr, 5ml/hr and 7ml/hr. Elongation temperature use 80 °C, 100 °C and 120 °C. The experiment is designed by Taguchi L9(34) orthogonal array. The considered quality characteristics are fiber diameter, fiber uniformity and fiber arrangement. Further, through the optimum design of hot drawing conditions, the strength of PAN nanofiber yarn can be improved. According to this experiment design, the feasibility of this novel mechanism for continuous nanofibrous yarn can be verified, and the result can provide the reference for technology of nanofiber yarn’s development in the future. According to experiments, three quality characteristics of fiber diameter, fiber uniformity and fiber agreement have optimum parameters. After principal component analysis, characteristics occurs as nozzle is 22G, flow rate is 7ml/hr, draw ratio is 2 and hot elongation temperature is 120 °C. In addition, the tensile of nanofibrous yarn is 2.72cN/tex This study use 7.4 degree of twist and 25 coefficient of twist get yarn fitness 11.4tex, set it as target, experiment of yarn fitness is about 7.4tex to 12tex. After physical characteristics test, the yarn fitness of 10.95tex is more uniform and has more stress. According to these experiments, the higher the draw ratio and elongation temperature, the higher the strain.

Based on the competition of semiconductor in the world up to the twelve inch wafer, the yield of the wafer is an indicator of the enterprise viability in career, which inspires the study motivation of the thesis. Yield rate can be observed in three areas: the production management, processing ability and machine equipment. The new process needs to obtain the customer certification and the strict defect detection could enhance the reliability of the product certification. The transformer coupled plasma etching is extensively used in semiconductor etching processes. It is imperative to study on the fine particle pollution of the plasma etching. This study area is focused on the twenty nanometers dry etching process. During the poly layer etching process, the fine particle residual phenomenon would cause wafer contamination. If it cannot be intercepted by the in-time scanning, it would contaminate the following process equipment and decline the yield. During the plasma etching, the chamber ESC (Electrostatic Chuck) executes the electrostatic attraction and repulsion actions to the wafer. As the RF (Radio Frequency) time increases and the ratio of the number of wafer going through the poly etching process to the execution number of WAC (wafer auto clean) process deceases, the induced electrons are raised. This would lead to the poor surface repulsion and the formation of large number residual electrons. The electrons are transmitted directly to the wafer surface, which would attract the free molecules in the reactor and the ions after the reaction. The molecules and ions are attached to the edge surface of the wafer. When the plasma is produced in the process, the absorbed electrons on the wafer, reacted with the plasma, are taken away, but the free molecules and reacted ions (fine particles) remain on the wafer. The study purpose is to find a fundamental solution using the following steps. Step 1 is to analyze the plasma characteristics and the detention process of fine particles. Step 2 is to establish an experimental model of poly plasma etching process using the Taguchi method to study the interaction among plasma, fine particles and residual charges. The operating parameters of the plasma etching equipment are plasma power, bias power, pressure and gas flow rate of helium, adsorption voltage, pressure and flow rate of helium, detection of wafer location deviation. The target of the experimental design is to find out the residual electrons. Step 3 is to improve the etching process by adjusting the operating parameters through the study of the established experimental model. This is the primary purpose of the thesis.

High power Light Emitting Diode (LED) is an emerging environmentally-friendly light source. Compared with traditional light source, it has the advantages such as power saving and long service life. However, LED is a kind of hyper-thermal light-emitting device, in which high power LED has the heat generation far greater than that of a traditional LED, resulting in reduced brightness, decreased service life and drifted color temperature. Therefore, the cooling demand for a LED has become the important condition for enhancing its use efficiency.   In this experiment, the Taguchi Method was adopted. Aimed at high power mainly, an operating variable was produced, which was approximate to the condition for the light modules sold on the market. Also, aimed at cooling effectiveness, further research and exploration were made, aiming to reach certain level of statistical analysis via fewer simulation frequencies. Thus, further understanding could be acquired, regarding the cooling effectiveness of the cooling system for high power LED. Through these discussions, it is expected to provide solutions for solving the present and future problem of the great heat generation in LED.

Die is an important apparatus in manufacturing industry. Metal, glass or plastic materials can be formed to specific shapes by high temperature, high pressure, high-impact processes. Cold forging is widely used in industry. In this thesis, Taguchi method was used to conduct the optimal analysis for cold-forging process with less experiment numbers. The DEFORM 3D finite element software was applied to investigate the maximum equivalent stress of cold-forging die. The experimental controlling factors include stamping die speed, coefficient of friction, die-entrance angle and die material. According to the experimental results, the significant factor are stamping die speed and coefficient of friction. Therefore, die stress can be effectively reduced by a lower stamping die speed and coefficient of friction. Moreover, based on the calculations of signal to noise ratio, the optimal parameters combination in this study are as follows: stamping die speed, 1 mm/sec; coefficient of friction, 0.08; die-entrance angle, 0.9; and die material, Carbide (15% Cobalt).

In recent years, the industry of liquid crystal display(LCD)is rapid developing and becomes one of the high competitiveness and growth potentiality industries in our country. This research collects and analyzes the relevant information of LCD industry, and finds out that the key point index of the quality and function of LCD display products is the variation of the width of the circuit lines and the short-out of the circuit . The photolithography process influences the variation of the width of the circuit lines and the cleanness in the environment of the LCD display process influences the short-out of the circuit. This research applies the Taguchi Methods(TM ) on the photolithography process to identify which parameters have significant influence on the process. Finally based on the balance between the nominal-the-best quality characteristic and the smaller-the-better quality characteristic, to determine the optimal photolithography process parameters. Experiment results show that, there is 9.627 dB improvement in the nominal-the-best quality characteristic and a 10.508 dB improvement in the smaller-the-better quality characteristic by using the suggested process parameters.

The purpose of this study for OLB in the process of the Main-bonder, the pressure will be on the bonding head, bonding time, bonding temperature and backup temperature, according to the ACF material properties, planning to control all of the standard applications Taguchi quality of engineering experiments and signal to noise ratio, Taguchi’s orthogonal arrays to the planning table adjustment factor to control the composition of the existing production line machinery in the experiment and to make use of DIC microscopy systems, considering the actual situation of production machinery, a random , Testing each of bonding area a single finger conductive particles in the indentation strength and quantity to the quality of large the better formula to calculate S/N ratio and response graph, the best combination of parameters, verified that the proceeds best parameters, to meet the needs of the existing process, effectively reduce the process of adjustment parameters of time and cost. Finally sorted out the best main-bonder process parameters of a combination of: bonding head temperature = 185oC, bonding pressure = 35kg/cm2, bonding time = 10 sec, backup temperature = 100oC, based on the above data adjustments can be drawn of the best pressure Effect by the response table that affected the process yield significant factor for the bonding head, backup temperature, mechine design in the future should consider lowering thetemperature change in an instant impact on the process.

It is critical to choose the correct specification of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) from a CNT company in order to fabricate a desired quality of nanotube buckypaper (NBP). In this paper, a statistical experimental design method, Taguchi method with an L4 orthogonal array robust design, was applied to resolve this problem. Filtration, electrical conductivity, surface area, rope diameter and pore size of NBPs were considered as the properties. The rope diameter, purity and electrical conductivity of carbon nanotubes were chosen as significant parameters. As a result of Taguchi analysis in this study, rope diameter was determined to be the most influencing parameter on the filtration time, electrical conductivity and rope diameter of NBPs. The electrical conductivity of CNTs also had a principal effect on the electrical conductivity of NBPs. The optimal conditions were determined by using Taguchi method. There is good agreement that is being observed between the prediction and experiment. Consequently, desired NBPs can be fabricated by controlling the significant parameters of CNTs.

This thesis studies the warpage improvement of FPC housing after the injection molding and the SMT process. At different short shot or filling percentage, the melt flow fronts show no difference between Moldex3D CAE analysis and actual injection molding. This study use Taguchi methods and two stages for the experiments. First stage applied L8 orthogonal array to optimize the operation windows. Results show that at the range of low melt temperature, high injection speed, high mold temperature, and low packing pressure can reduce the deformation of reflow process. Second stage used L18 orthogonal array to optimize further the process parameters. Results the warpage can be improved when the two-stage injection speed, thickness of short side in increasing 0.03 mm, and low holding time applied. After second stage optimization, the average warpage decreases to 0.077 mm less than the command of 0.1 mm. CAE analysis also shows that high Von Mises stress and thermal stress are directly related to the warpage after reflow.

In order to improve the efficiencies of the vortex tube, we use the experimental methods by use of changing the different parameters in this thesis. The parameters which affect output temperature are (a) pressure, (b) length of tube, (c) cold flow rate, (d) entrance nozzle, (e) refrigeration, etc. Then, Taguchi Method is used to obtain the best parameters of vortex tube. This Method utilizes orthogonal arrays and S/N ratio to analyze and find out sensitivity of output temperature relative to control factors. Thirdly, we utilize ANOVA to obtain the contribution of output temperature relative to control factors. Comparison between the obtained parameters and experimental data we can verity the Taguchi Method. Finally, according to the Benbella mathematics model we can predict hot the temperature and cold flow rate of the vortex tube. These above processes will be useful for designing the same kind of the vortex tube.

The Wire deformation problem for wire-bonding which Packaging type of 1st level is one of the major factor to effect it’s quality. This phenomenon is more obvious as lead counts increase and package dimensions decrease that need to be controlled. In this paper, a three-dimensional model is been used for the simulation of the viscous flow field to increase the accuracy. The deformation of gold wire during transfer molding of 24-lead IC package is analyzed using the ANSYS finite element code. In addition, parameter and process condition, such as density, viscosity, EMC temperature, molding temperature, filling time, curing time, wire length, wire diameter, on wire sweep were also investigated. Than Analyzed by Taguchi Method to find an optimal processing parameter. Finally, using the analysis of variance to find out the major factors that affects the quality characteristic, and estimate it’s inaccuracy and reliability.

ABSTRACT The Chip-Scale-Package Assembly package was firstly applied to the manufacture of the memory product which possesses the advantages of small size, less material, better electrical characterization, less space occupied by the print circuit board as well as the production costs down. Furthermore, as one of the advanced chip scale packages, the CSP-BGA is also recognized to possess the advantages of short signal lines, better electrical characterization and higher transmission speed. Thus oppositely it follows the higher interior temperature which always leads to the damage and inefficiency of IC package. Therefore the capability of heat dissipation becomes a critical issue. This study analyzes the thermal field of the Chip Scale Package BGA. First of all, a three dimension Finite Element Model is built by applying the ANSYS software, and one watt of electric power is loaded to simulate the thermal distribution of the package. Moreover the thermal resistances of CSP-BGA under the natural convection and the force convection respectively are discussed and compared with the experimental results so as to verify the accuracy of the simulation. Finally the Taguchi Method is applied to conduct the one-factor analysis in which the effects of different geometric shapes and material properties on the thermal resistance of the CSP BGA package are observed and those factors with more significant effects are obtained. As a result, an optimum design of the package can be determined.

The purpose of this thesis is to obtain the color marking using YVO4 fiber laser and scan head and to investigate the optimal process parameters of fiber laser-induced color marking by Taguchi method. First, the experiment was set with different processing parameters, such as laser power, scanning velocity, pulse frequency, line spacing and marking times. Then the marking process parameters was optimized and only to consider the laser power, horizontal overlap rate and vertical overlap rate to investigate the marking process. After that, the bright and saturated colors on stainless steel surface were expected to achieve with the optimal parameters by using Taguchi method with gray relational analysis. Finally, optical microscopy and spectroscopy GER 1500 were used to observe the surface colors and reflectance on the specimen. Experimental results showed that the different sets of process parameters will make the stainless steel surface absorb different laser energy and form the oxides of different thickness or compositions, which is leading to demonstrate different marking colors. Once the process parameters was optimized, the horizontal overlap rate varied from 83% to 97% and the vertical overlap rate from 83% to 97% with 5W laser power, a regular color variations can be achieved. Furthermore, when the process was not be optimized, the obtained average radius of the red, green and blue colors in the analysis of the xy chromaticity diagram is about 0.0494. However, after the parameter optimization process by Taguchi method with gray relational analysis, its value is approximately 0.1072 in the analysis of the xy chromaticity diagram. Obviously, the brighter and saturated colors can be effectively obtained by Taguchi method and gray relational analysis. Moreover, from the observation of optical microscope, a smoother surface will be obtained by using optimal process parameters and will lead to a well-mixed color distribution. Finally, through the color reflectance analysis by spectrometer measurements, we can get that red color at wavelength 600 nm ~ 650 nm band has a 65%, green color at wavelengths 475 nm ~ 525 nm band 45% reflectivity, and blue color at 400 nm ~ 450 nm band 65% reflectivity. Compared with the theory value of reflectivity for trichromatic colors, the reflectivity values were very close at primary color waveband. Although, the reflectivity have a higher value on stainless steel surface in the non-primary wavelengths due to doping effect of other colors and the polishing effects.

Abstract Cast iron milling is a basic and important process. However, the quality of the processing will be significantly affected by the impact of factors such as materials and cutting. Therefore, the best processing conditions and quality plays an important role in the cast iron milling process. In addition, the organized distribution of hardness must be taken into account in material factors. Similarly, the cutting rate, feed rate, cutting depth and cooling also must be taken into account in cutting factors. That is to say, when we engaged in the production of cast iron surface processing, it is a very important topic to improve processing quality, to reduce cost and increase production efficiency simultaneously. Our research explore the object surface milling of cast iron materials (including gray iron and ductile iron) combines the concept of Taguchi parameter design and experiment to discuss the best material factor and cutting conditions. The results show that all the FC and FCD, two types of cast iron microstructure, are consist of Graphite Phase (G), Ferrite the Iron (α), and Pearlite (P). The hardness level of cast iron will rise by Pearlite’s increasing. According to our Taguchi analysis results of A (spindle speed), B (feed rate), C (depth of cut) and D (cooling / lubrication), we discover these six cast iron with different cutting condition in those interaction. The optimum cutting conditions on six kinds of cast iron is as follows : (1) FC200: A1B2C3D2, (2) FC250: A2B3C3D1, (3) FC300: A2B2C3D2, (4) FCD400: A1B2C1D2, (5) FCD450: A1B2C2D2, (6) FCD500: A1B1C2D1. According to the observation of swarf appearance, SN ratio, surface processing Taguchi analysis and tissue distribution data analysis, we can say that Graphite shape contributes to the difference of these two types of cast iron cutting conditions and machining quality. Moreover, Pearlite and Ferrite content dominate the influence of spindle speed cutting conditions and cooling / lubrication effect. Our research covers the results of cast iron cutting quality factors, optimizing parameters with the dominant mechanism. We strongly expect to provide an reference in the related production process by the results of the above studies. Key word: Cast iron, Taguchi method, parameter design, milling, orthogonal array.

Advantage of strength to weight ratio, easy forming, heat conduction and magnetic shielding properties widely result in using magnesium alloy for 3C products. In this study, AZ61A Mg-alloy was welded by Tungsten inert gas arc welding (TIG) to investigate the effects of welding parameters on AZ61A Mg-alloy characteristics. Therefore, parts of experiment were conducted with orthogonal arrays of Taguchi method for economically to explore the welding parameters on welding characteristics such as front over melt, end over melt, concave, convex, and crack. Besides, through analysis of variance (ANOVA) and F test of signal to noise (S/N) ratio, the effects of TIG welding parameters such as current type (AC or DC), welding current, welding speed, current efficiency, arc decay time, and shielding gas flow rate on AZ61A weldments characteristics were determined. From this investigation, the relations between AZ61A weldment characteristics and welding parameters of AZ61A via TIG were established. Furthermore, the significant degree of each parameters affected the weldment characteristics were explored, and the optimal combination levels of the welding parameters on front over melt, end over melt, concave, convex, and crack was determined. Moreover, the experimental results could be applied in industrial applications and academic researches.

Radiation Oncology department using CT Imaging to determine the tumor location and correct irradiation direction as well as the irradiation field. There are also more attention and adequate standard must be put for image quality. Program book does not have clear rules for image quality operation. We hope to use mechanical measurements to prove the stability of an expert rating method is feasible. In order to ensure the spatial resolution of CT simulation location image, this study using Taguchi method to optimize the computer simulation of scanning parameters. In order to find the optimal combination of parameters, this experiment using Light Speed computer tomography simulation, CT specific correction phantom, scanning contrast segments of image, and five diagnostic Radiologist for scoring image resolution and image contrast of the segmentation quality. To avoid reducing the credibility of the results from experts scores due to human errors, we choose computed tomographic image processing software circle ROI (Region of Interest) and measuring fine contrast CT values to verify the credibility of expert evaluation methods. Results data via ANOVA analysis show the optimal combination of parameters for the tube voltage is 120kVp, tube current is 300mA, scanning FOV (field of view) is 20cm, and the scanning thickness is 5mm. This study use Taguchi method to find the optimized parameters of CT simulation. The results show that both have the same combination of parameters, and verify that the expert scoring is also reliable.
