Abstract:
This paper examines the early transmission and translation of Arabic astronomical tables in China by comparing the layouts of parallax correction tables. After comparing the layouts of equation tables in various Huihui lifa works, this paper concludes that the characteristics of tabular layout are related to the specific nature of each work, and these adjustments thereto may reflect changes in their intended audience and purpose. Comparison of a single type of table that appears in Huihui lifa works of different eras in one-dimensional array, two-dimensional array, and rotational symmetry layouts illustrates that Chinese astronomical tables continually absorbed and adapted the advantages offered by Arabic and European counterparts, flexibly adapting them to their own purposes on the basis of their own tradition and habits.

Abstract:
The use of semantic technologies including ontologies is a widespread practice in modern intelligent system engineering. Spreadsheets are one of the most accessible and common ways of representing and storing information which are characterized by a wide variety and heterogeneity of layouts, styles and content while remaining a valuable source of domain knowledge. The paper proposes to automate the process of ontology engineering based on the analysis and transformation of spreadsheets with an arbitrary layout. For this purpose a new approach is presented that provides the restoration of the semantics of tabular data, conceptualization, and formalization of tabular content in the form of ontology. The main stages of the proposed approach and a description of the software are presented. The developed software was used to solve the practical problem of ontology engineering for diagnosing and assessing the technical condition of petrochemical equipment. Spreadsheets extracted from reports on industrial safety inspection of petrochemical complexes were used as the initial data. Based on the results of approbation, it was concluded that it is advisable to use the proposed approach when prototyping subject ontologies.

Abstract:
The usage of PDA and mobile devices has dramatically increased recently. However, mobile devices and PDA devices have a limited screen size, which makes it frustrating to browse tabular data on mobile devices since users have to frequently scroll up and down to find the information of interest. This paper presents an efficient means to present HTML-based tables on mobile devices. Based on the column and row headers, the authors adapt a HTML-based Web table into two adaptive styles. The first style displays all information of a table into a single narrow page to avoid horizontal scrolling; and the second style distributes information to different sub-pages, each of which approximately occupies the whole mobile screen, and thus eliminates scrolling. The approach is empirically evaluated using a controlled experiment. The main conclusions derived from the empirical study are: (1) the adaptive layout styles improves the browsing efficiency for individual subjects as compared to HTML web page style, (2) the single narrow adaptive layout resulted in the improved browsing efficiency compared to the multi-page adaptive layout for one-dimensional HTML web page tables, and (3) the multi-page adaptive layout was more efficient than the single narrow adaptive layout for two-dimensional HTML tables.

Abstract:
On-chip transformers are considered to be the primary components in many RF wireless applications. This paper provides an in-depth review of on-chip transformers, starting with a presentation on the various equivalent circuit models to represent transformer behavior and characterize their performance. Next, a comparative study on the different design and layout strategies is provided, and the fabrication techniques for on-chip implementation of transformers are discussed. The critical performance parameters to characterize on-chip transformers, such as the Q-factor, coupling factor (k), resonance frequency (fSR), and others, are discussed with reference to trade-offs in silicon chip real-estate. The performance parameters and area requirements for different types of on-chip transformers are summarized in tabular form and compared. Several techniques for performance enhancement of on-chip transformers, including the different types of micromachining and integration approaches stemming from MEMS (microelectromechanical systems) technologies are also analyzed. Lastly, the different uses and applications of on-chip transformers are discussed to highlight the evolution of on-chip transformer technology over the recent years and provide directions for future work in this field.

Abstract:
Astronomical tablets have been a major focus of study by historians of science since the middle of the 20th century. Building upon the pioneering work of E. S. Kennedy, O. Neugebauer, and others, recent scholars have applied a range of techniques drawn from the exact sciences (e.g., computer-aided statistical analysis of tabular data to uncover the mathematical functions underlying a table’s construction), cognitive studies (e.g., examination of how practitioners use a table and what makes a table user-friendly or not), and manuscript studies (e.g., studies of tabular layout and visual clues to the use of tables, such as the presence of color as an indicator or specific final digits to numbers in the column of a table that indicate the nature of the table) to answer questions about the construction, use, and transmission of astronomical tables and the astronomical knowledge that they incorporate. For the past 20 years or so, José Chabás, often working in collaboration with B. R. Goldstein, has been at the forefront of work on early European astronomical tables. Abstract:
The design and calculation of pipelines taking into account the mutual influence of local resistances is an urgent task in the hydraulics of pressure flows. The analysis and results of the hydraulic calculation of the Valtec metal-polymer pipeline are given, taking into account the lengths of the influence of local resistances of their mutual influence (interference). Tabular data on the lengths of influence of local resistances, coefficients of mutual influence used in the developed program of the Delhi (Object Pascal) environment are given. A graph of the dependence of specific pressure losses per 1 meter of pipeline length on the flow rate for the Valtec pipeline with an equivalent roughness of Δe/ d = 0.007 mm, obtained experimentally and data for a similar pipeline according to the reference data tables with an equivalent roughness of Δe / d = 0.01 mm, is presented. The results of the calculations and the interface of the Delphi 7 environment application program with the data in a tabular form for the hydraulic calculation of the total pressure losses in pipelines are shown, taking into account reference and experimental values of coefficients of local resistances. The data of the results of the hydraulic calculation of the total head losses, taking into account the specifi c linear pressure loss per 1 meter of the pipeline length without local resistances, are given to determine the head losses by length. The developed program can be used in the design, layout and hydraulic calculation of metal-polymer pipelines with specifi ed parameters.

Abstract:
Numerical modelling has long been used as a powerful tool for geomechanics mine design and analysis of such problems as ore dilution. Open stoping mining method with delayed backfill is generally employed for mining steeply dipping tabular ore deposits. Several authors reported that consideration of production blast vibrations on adjacent, exposed backfill faces is crucial for the effective backfill design for minimum ore dilution due to fill failure. In this study, it is shown that blast vibrations can be characterized with dynamic numerical modelling. A FLAC3D dynamic numerical model has been developed for a typical layout of a secondary stope that is being mined next to a previously mined and backfilled primary stope. The numerical simulations are validated by comparing predicted failure geometry with laser-surveyed stope profiles obtained with a cavity monitoring system. It is shown that blast-induced vibrations can be a primary cause for wedge-type failure of the backfill face.

Abstract:
AbstractThe aim of the article is to analyse the land transport accessibility of two trans-European corridors within the boundaries of Poland. The adjustment of the course of transport routes to the distribution of the population and the country’s land development (including economic potential and logistic infrastructure) was outlined using measurements of cumulative accessibility. The results were presented in both cartographic form (isochrone approach) and tabular form (cumulative approach). Research was conducted adopting different forms of transport used for relocation (including foot traffic, car, rail and multimodal transport) and both the current and target layout of the transport network. This made it possible to determine the changes that will effectively run the process of investment in transport infrastructure on Polish territory. This allowed the identification of the areas of Poland which are particularly conveniently located in relation to domestic connections (in terms of the international network) and those for which the European transport network remains difficult to access.

This article briefly discusses the technical choices involved in building the relational database that my approach centres on, before talking in more detail about the challenges faced when transposing the information in the primary sources into digital format. First, the question of making use of structured vs. unstructured data, as most of the documents I work with already present some form of tabular layout, while the more narrative ones require different strategies to mitigate losses when converting them. Secondly, the difficult process of record linkage, with many of the persons only mentioned by their first name and no surname to help label each individual entered in more than one source. Lastly, the daunting task of estimating economic resources, since there was no reliable standard in an age that saw four different fiscal systems in use and many regional flavours within the same scheme. The quality of university students’ graphic training should meet modern requirements to design and development execution and design drafting. The role of students’ tools training for wide use of CAD systems in solving of learning problems and execution of project tasks is increasing. It meets modern requirements to designer’s professional activity. The lack of clear and accurate originals for construction of views, sections, schemes and tabular materials, as well as use of hand work and the counterfeit automated software products, are current problems for graphics culture in the field of hydrotechnical design because significantly reduce labor productivity, quality of drawing’s performance and use. The authors offer a novel approach to formation of graphics culture in future engineers in the field of hydrotechnical construction. In this paper the possibilities of the AutoCAD system, mainly as a tool for performance of a wide range of engineering graphics tasks of any complexity when developing drawings for hydraulic engineering constructions have been considered, including: • search and analysis of layout solutions. By using AutoCAD system in its simplest, basic version, one can both analyze configuration of huge structures with accuracy up to 0,001 m and design drawings for more sizeable objects, such as plants, hydroelectric power stations, conglomerations; • design drawings of any subject and complexity. The basic version’s possibilities are quite enough to convert obtained layout solutions into high-quality project documentation that meets the requirements of domestic design standards; • design development for work execution – even without a digitized basis; • construction of loading schemes and stresses epures; • construction of graphs and diagrams. Sequential approach to formation of graphics culture will allow realize a united learning task on engineering and computer graphics for aiding in solution such important task as providing of combination for manual and computer-aided drawing when getting students’ education in graphics courses.

Now a days in designing a VLSI circuits we are coming across many problems such as high power intake, delay and large utilization of chip area in order to overcome these problems a new architectures are developed. In our project we deals with FFT computation which internally involves series of multiplication and addition therefore requirement of efficient multipliers is needed and therefore we come across two high speed improved multipliers Booth multiplier and Wallace tree multiplier which are good in terms of power efficiency and low output delay. The main aim of our project involves hybridizing the both Wallace multiplier and Booth multiplier which yields low delay and low power consumption than compared to individual multipliers. The Booth multiplier is used for reduction of partial products and for addition operations carry save adders is used in Wallace tree multipliers and thus hybrid is designed by combining both the algorithms which in turn produces better results and they can be observed in comparisons tabular column in our documentation. These multipliers can be designed in many ways such using cmos layout techniques and also using Verilog programming and we have chosen Verilog programming which requires Xilinx software and codes are developed in gate level design model for the respective multiplier models and the results will be tabulated.

Abstract:
Abstract: This paper, proposes a weakly-supervised approach for three-dimensional object detection, which makes it possible to train a strong three-dimensional detector with position-level based annotations (i.e. an- notations pertaining to the centre of an object). In an attempt to rectify this information loss from box annotations to object centres, the proposed method, named Corporeality (referred to as BR in short in image and tabular representations) makes use of synthetic three-dimensional shapes to convert weak labels into completely annotated virtual scenes as stronger supervision, and then in turn utilizes these perfect virtual labels to complement and refine the original set of labels. The process involves the assemblage of three-dimensional shapes into physically reasonable virtual scenes according to the coarse scene layout extracted from position-level based annotations previously. Then we go back to reality by applying a virtual-to-real do-main adaptation function, which refines the weak labels along with supervising the three-dimensional detector’s training with the virtual scenes. This paper further proposes a more challenging benchmark for three-dimensional object detection with more diverse object sizes to better emphasize the potential of Corporeality. With an investment of a meagre 5% labelling labour, Corporeality was able to perform competitively when compared with some of the popular fully-supervised approaches out there, widely used with ScanNet datasets. Abstract:
The purpose of the present research was to analyse Polish listed companies in terms of liquidity management in 2002-2017 in a dynamie context. Evaluation of the dynamie model of corporate financial liquidity was carried out with the use of classical descriptive statistics tools and methods applied in sueh analyses. The eompanies were analysed in the new seetoral layout implemented by the Management Board of the Warsaw Stoek Exehange in January 2017. The study of the dynamie finaneial liquidity of enterprises on the basis of seleeted ratios eonsisted of two parts. In the first part of the study, a series of medians was determined for eaeh of the liquidity ratios in partieular seetors. Eaeh element of the series is assoeiated with the quarter from whieh the data eame. The ratios within sectors were then compared so that coexistence of changes over time, shifts in rela- tion to one another, or the lack of clear interdependencies could be observed. Unlike the first part, which covered the relationship between the different ratios within a sector, the second part focuses on cross-sectoral comparative analysis. Descriptive statistics based on quantiles were derived for data covering the entire period under consideration and for all enterprises in the sector. Half of the surveyed listed companies (i.e. all the ratio values between the first and third quartiles), were adopted as the central standard. Numerical values of standards for particular ratios and sectors are presented in a tabular form.

Abstract:
Expert systems must often rely on probabilistic information to solve complex problems. Computer output may consist of more than one possible solution, leaving the final decision to the user. The amount of output and its mode of presentation need to be tailored to the application. In situations requiring fast and accurate decision making, as in military systems, output must be presented in a concise and easy to interpret format. Six presentation variables which could affect alternative selection performance were examined in an experiment: information quantity (4 or 8 numbered alternative values), format (tabular or bar graph), order (ordinal presentation of the alternative numbers or their associated values), bar graph layout (vertical or horizontal bars), bar graph labels (no labeling or labeling of each bar with its associated value), and table type (probability or rank values). The variables were combined into 24 different display formats; each of 24 subjects was tested on all the formats. The task consisted of finding the probability or rank values in the order specified on the top of the CRT screen (high value to low or low to high) and entering the associated alternative numbers on a keyboard. Mean response time and mean errors, over five trials, were the measures of performance on each display format. Results of the analyses indicated that the best display format in terms of the speed and accuracy of selection performance was the 4-alternative vertical bar graph with ordered probabilities and labeled bar values.

Abstract:
Abstract Objectives The Houston Methodist Pathology training program encourages trainee participation in quality improvement (QI) projects for improving the didactics experience. One of these initiatives is RecutClub, a whole slide imaging (WSI) web-based platform for presenting surgical pathology unknown conference cases. With the evolving nature of pathology didactics in an ever-changing world where remote work plays an increasingly important role, several refinements were needed to ensure that the platform could continue to provide an unparalleled WSI experience for incoming trainees. Additionally, the burden of updating site content needed to be distributed from the site administrators to the end-users. Methods RecutClub is operated through Google Cloud via a Google App Engine instance. It connects to Google Cloud Databases to store persistent tabular data and Google Cloud Storage for pyramidal JPEG files used to display whole slide images in a web-browser. In the next generation platform (RecutClub 2.0), the largest change was to migrate case uploading from a developer-controlled solution to a decentralized, trainee-driven web portal. To ensure a superior user experience, the entire site as well as the upload form was migrated to Bootstrap 4. An AJAX-native, asynchronous uploader was built to interface the existing Google Cloud platform to a new upload portal that allows authorized trainees to build cases from scratch. Additionally, a tagging solution was implemented to allow for server-side persistent storage of trainee-selected cases, such as “interesting” cases or cases for further review. This tagging complements the existing region of interest (ROI) and case search functionalities. Results The deployment of RecutClub 2.0 involved multiple rounds of resident-led testing and feedback. Several regular testers offered ongoing user feedback and suggestions for visual layout and usability. The response from the general trainee population after deployment was overwhelming positive, with many trainees commenting on the “improved” visual aesthetics as well as the convenience of the upload functionality. Administrator involvement in case-upload time decreased from 2 hours/month to 0 hours/month due to enabling trainee-driven uploading. Conclusions The deployment of RecutClub 2.0 fulfilled the dual primary objectives of enabling straightforward trainee-led content updates, as well as decreasing administrator involvement in case-upload time. These and other changes ensure that RecutClub can continue to provide an unparalleled WSI experience for pathology trainees at Houston Methodist, while also providing fresh content in a landscape with several competing WSI platforms.

Variant design is a common technology in mechanical design, but it’s inefficient to measure the variant parts using the traditional programming methods. In order to get the inspection procedures of variant parts quickly, this article puts forward a method that aims at the automatic inspection planning of customized products, which based on tabular layouts of article characteristics (TLAC). It studies the TLAC of parts which included the tolerance, the main model and its inspection template, and generation of the inspection procedures about parts. The result shows that the method can effectively improve the efficiency of inspection procedure generation.

Abstract:
<p><strong>Abstract.</strong> Cargo flow maps are used to represent the freight traffic on a transportation network. Usually the flows are represented as multicolor ribbons along railroads or highways. Each ribbon is a series of parallel lines. The width of a ribbon corresponds to the total freight traffic on a road segment between each crossroads, while the width of every line inside the ribbon reflects the volume of cargo transportation of a certain type. Ribbons can be placed on the both sides of the line and thus show cargo flows in both directions separately.</p><p>Cargo flow maps are different from the general flow maps and public transit maps. First, the shape of ribbons is restricted by geometry of transportation network, while the flow maps are generated freely between points. Second, the width of every line inside a ribbon (and the total width of each ribbon) depends on the volume of cargo flow, while in public transit maps the width of every line is fixed. These peculiar properties of cargo flow maps impose significant restrictions on the possible layout of resulting lines and ribbons.</p><p>To date, no automated approach for generation of such maps has been presented. In current study we have developed a fully automated workflow for generation of such maps. First, we documented the design principles of cargo flow maps based on the analysis of traditional thematic atlases and related modern cartographic visualizations. Next, we proposed an algorithm for automatic generation of cargo flow maps.</p><p>We start just from a long table with four variables: source, destination, cargo type and cargo volume. Each row therefore corresponds to existing cargo connection. These data are then spread over the transportation network under the assumption that goods between two locations are transported using the shortest route strategy. For each connection the shortest route is calculated using Dijkstra’s algorithm, and all network edges that participate in calculated route accumulate the volume of each cargo type being transported in a specified direction. After the data is spread over the network, we construct its ribbon representation as a series of stacked parallel lines on both sides of each network segment. To resolve graphical conflicts between ribbons at each junction, we solve a minimum covering circle problem for a set of points including the junction point itself and line endpoints of each ribbon adjacent to the junction. The problem is solved for each cargo type separately and the derived circles are then drawn to eliminate overlaps and voids between ribbon edges.</p><p>The described approach was implemented in a prototype web application that utilizes the transportation network taken from Natural Earth dataset (Figure 1). We offer numerous options that can be used to control the visual appearance of ribbons, as well as the query interface that extracts cargo flow data for selected network segment (the yellow stroke near the center of the map in Figure 1) and represents it in a tabular form (the widget at the bottom right in Figure 1). A case study covering the part of central Russia is presented, which demonstrates the potential of cargo flow map as a tool for visual exploration of freight traffic data.</p>

Abstract:
The most expeditious method for the design of concrete beams under fire situation is the tabular method, presented by the Brazilian standard ABNT NBR 15200:2012. Albeit simple, this method constrains the engineer's work, as it prevents him to seek alternative solutions to the few tabulated values. Yet, the Brazilian standard allows employing more advanced methods. Hence, the purpose of this work was to perform a thermal and structural analysis of beams with several widths, heights, covers and diameters/layouts of steel reinforcement (upper and lower). From those results, graphs were constructed, associating the ratio between the applied bending moment in fire over the resistance bending moment at ambient temperature, for the fire resisting time of each situation. These graphs also allow taking into account the redistribution of moments from positive to negative, which will lead to savings in the solution found.

Abstract:
In the recent advancement, the extensive usage of electronic devices to photograph and upload documents, the requirement for extracting the information present in the unstructured document images is becoming progressively intense. The major obstacle to the objective is, these images often contain information in tabular form and extracting the data from table images presents a series of challenges due to the various layouts and encodings of the tables. It includes the accurate detection of the table present in an image and eventually recognizing the internal structure of the table and extracting the information from it. Although some progress has been made in table detection, obtaining the table contents is still a challenge since this involves more fine-grained table structure (rows and columns) recognition. The digitization of critical information has to be carried out automatically since there are millions of documents. Based on the motivation that AI-based solutions are automating many processors, this work comprises three different stages: First, the table detection using Faster R-CNN algorithm. Second, table internal structure recognition process using morphology operation and refine operation and last the table data extraction using contours algorithm. The dataset used in this work was taken from the UNLV dataset.

Abstract:
This article establishes that the discursive parts of the earliest known mathematical manuscripts in Chinese were composed of (at least) two types of elements, marked by two types of texts. The manuscripts alternate continuous text, and text for numerical tables (what I call table-relations). I show that in these manuscripts, the latter were written down as ‘textual tables,’ and that two basic types of style were used for these textual tables. By contrast, tabular layouts have been used for a Qin period object and a Dunhuang manuscript carrying numerical tables. I suggest that these artifacts should be interpreted as computing tools. I further argue that, at least from the eleventh century onwards, diagrammatic tables were introduced into mathematical writings. They were used to write down new types of numerical tables. Diagrammatic features of such texts, like horizontal, vertical and oblique lines, played a key part in the reading, interpretation and use of these table-relations. In this sense, they can be compared with the Qin computing tool. I conclude that the fact that in Song-Yuan times these diagrammatic tables are referred to as ‘diagram tu 圖’ curiously echoes with the history of visual tools attested to in relation to mathematical activity in China.

Abstract:
Environmental Sensitivity Index (ESI) maps present sensitive biological and human resource data used by NOAA Scientific Support Coordinators, the US Coast Guard, and other responders to identify resources that may be impacted in the event of an oil spill, chemical spill, or natural disaster. ESI maps and data are also used to support Area Contingency Plans and Geographic Response Plans, and post-event damage assessment. Over many years of use the look and feel of ESI maps have remained a consistent but static product for the end user. Research Planning, Inc. (RPI) has developed an ArcGIS toolbar to allow users to create their own thematic maps for an area of their choice using ESI data. RPI's ESI Toolbar add-in for ESRI's Arc Map allows a user to create custom ESI maps with symbology, layouts, and icons similar to the traditional hardcopy and PDF NOAA ESI map product. The user can zoom to an area of interest, choose a scale, and use custom query tools to decide what data should appear on the map. The map can be exported as a multi-layered GeoPDF that includes the tabular data for the data displayed on the map. Users can add and map their own data, and even symbolize and query these data with ESI symbology if they have certain key fields from the standard NOAA format. For digital users, tools are included for easy click and query of the database, zooming to features selected on the map or in the tables, and filtering the data by user specified criteria (e.g. show me all Least Tern locations in January - March). The toolbar can use standard NOAA ESI data downloadable from the NOAA OR&R website but also includes tools to set up an Enhanced ESI data set for map production and analysis. The Enhanced ESI data allows the user to apply Present Throughout Boxes that remove some spatial data from the map and describe it as “Present Along Shore” or similar geographic descriptors on a map product while the tabular data still appears in the data tables. Spatial data can also be assigned a scale which will give the user control over which resources draw when zooming and panning in the desktop environment. The Enhanced ESI dataset also includes the ability to upload symbolized map data including ESI style icons and the related tables to ArcGIS Online where it can be displayed and queried online.

Abstract:
AbstractAs big data analytics systems are squeezing out the last bits of performance of CPUs and GPUs, the next near-term and widely available alternative industry is considering for higher performance in the data center and cloud is the FPGA accelerator. We discuss several challenges a developer has to face when designing and integrating FPGA accelerators for big data analytics pipelines. On the software side, we observe complex run-time systems, hardware-unfriendly in-memory layouts of data sets, and (de)serialization overhead. On the hardware side, we observe a relative lack of platform-agnostic open-source tooling, a high design effort for data structure-specific interfaces, and a high design effort for infrastructure. The open source Fletcher framework addresses these challenges. It is built on top of Apache Arrow, which provides a common, hardware-friendly in-memory format to allow zero-copy communication of large tabular data, preventing (de)serialization overhead. Fletcher adds FPGA accelerators to the list of over eleven supported software languages. To deal with the hardware challenges, we present Arrow-specific components, providing easy-to-use, high-performance interfaces to accelerated kernels. The components are combined based on a generic architecture that is specialized according to the application through an extensive infrastructure generation framework that is presented in this article. All generated hardware is vendor-agnostic, and software drivers add a platform-agnostic layer, allowing users to create portable implementations.

Abstract:
Preparing a data set for analysis is generally the most time consuming task in a data mining project, requiring many complex SQL queries, joining tables, and aggregating columns. Existing SQL aggregations have limitations to prepare data sets because they return one column per aggregated group. In general, a significant manual effort is required to build data sets, where a horizontal layout is required. We propose simple, yet powerful, methods to generate SQL code to return aggregated columns in a horizontal tabular layout, returning a set of numbers instead of one number per row. This new class of functions is called horizontal aggregations. Horizontal aggregations build data sets with a horizontal denormalized layout (e.g., point-dimension, observation variable, instance-feature), which is the standard layout required by most data mining algorithms. We propose three fundamental methods to evaluate horizontal aggregations: ? CASE: Exploiting the programming CASE construct; ? SPJ: Based on standard relational algebra operators (SPJ queries); ? PIVOT: Using the PIVOT operator, which is offered by some DBMSs. Experiments with large tables compare the proposed query evaluation methods. Our CASE method has similar speed to the PIVOT operator and it is much faster than the SPJ method. In general, the CASE and PIVOT methods exhibit linear scalability, whereas the SPJ method does not. For query optimization the distance computation and nearest cluster in the k-means are based on SQL. Workload balancing is the assignment of work to processors in a way that maximizes application performance. The process of load balancing can be generalized into four basic steps: 1. Monitoring processor load and state; 2. Exchanging workload and state information between processors; 3. Decision making; 4. Data migration. The decision phase is triggered when the load imbalance is detected to calculate optimal data redistribution. In the fourth and last phase, data migrates from overloaded processors to under-loaded ones.

The interpreted data were presented in tabular form, Geoelectric/geology soil profiles and contoured maps. The results show that the study area aquifer is relatively protected with an average value of 0.5 mhos with an indication of infiltration of contaminant in some location. The hydraulic parameter values also show that the study area aquifer has the capacity to produce water non-stopping if the wells are sited based the geophysical investigation. The computed hydraulic characteristics and transmissivity of the area has an average value of 5.5 m/day and 6.1 /hour, which implies that, the study area has the capacity to transmit groundwater through a distance of 5.5 m in 24-hour and can covers 6.1 in one hour.

Abstract:
The competitive power system market involves very high financial risk due to the essential requirements of real-time bidding decision making. Decisions once taken cannot be altered easily because multiple generators participate in bidding process while simultaneously dispatching to meet the load demand most economically. In order to avoid such risks it becomes pertinent to re-structure the bidding strategies from time to time to meet upcoming techno-economical challenges. In this paper, three generating units are studied using Matrix Laboratory software with a novel approach for deciding the best strategy from the most economical strategy viewpoint. A scenario of different formulations is created for muti-player game, which then is solved with the help of zero-sum polymatrix game theory. A systematic tabular layout of revenues pertaining to each formulation in terms of mixed strategies is developed. The minimax and maximin revenues, identified using Game theoretic approach, gave the most economical strategy. Thus exact and self-enforcing generalized method for best bidding strategies of all three generators are logically derived for the most optimal solution.

Abstract:
Abstract The current study aims to explore the impact of the two-column format in writing simple mathematical arguments. That is to say, a structured method of presenting a mathematical proof or argument by using a tabular layout with two columns. The underlying goal of the research reported in this paper is to inform understanding of how to effectively assess students’ proof construction, particularly online. In this paper, we report the results of an experiment designed to test the hypothesis that students provide more justifications when using the two-column format in writing mathematical proofs. The participants were 80 first year undergraduate mathematics students at the University of Edinburgh who were enrolled in a calculus course. The findings supported this hypothesis: overall frequency of justification were higher in the two-column condition compared with the traditional condition. This is due to the format structure where students are expected to justify each line in the statements’ column with a corresponding explanation in the justification column. However, as a side effect of increasing the amount of justifications, students in the two-column group generated more non-explanation statements which we classed as paraphrasing. A secondary outcome was our use and further development of the coding scheme.

Abstract:
AbstractTable detection is an essential step in many document analysis systems. Tabular data are a pivotal form of information representation that can organize data in a conventional structure for comfortable and quick information retrieval and comparison. Detection of table structures in PDF files or images is a challenging task because of the variability of table layouts, and sometimes the tabular structures’ similarities with non-tabular elements like charts, plots, etc. In this work, we have presented a table detection method using a geometric analysis of the table cell cores that represents the table cell texts. The proposed method works by analyzing the text gap information, and hence it can detect the table cell cores, irrespective of the presence of the table boundary lines and cell-separating rule-lines. Experimentations have been done on various document images of complex structures from well-known datasets. The detection accuracies obtained by us corroborate the usefulness of the proposed method.

Basic fire protection of industrial and storage facilities, shopping and entertainment centers and other objects is made up of automated firefighting installations, internal fire water pipeline and water curtains. The analysis of the results of hydraulic calculations performed while designing these systems provides for selecting the required equipment composition, evaluating the operation of the systems in different modes etc. Hydraulic calculations are carried out, as a rule, using hand calculation, or a partially automated process. Algorithms are also used that implement numerical modeling procedures involving off-the-shelf software that simplifies compiling a system of equations with the formation of a calculation model from nodes and connecting paths. The software available in the domestic market is either not effective or very expensive, and requires user training. Substantive and mathematical statement of the flow distribution problem with variable nodal flow rates for a random pipeline system including fire protection, is presented. The corresponding modification of the nodal pressure method is given that takes into account the dependence of the flow through the nozzle (sprinkler, fire branch, etc.) on the pressure (head) upstream of it. This task and other ones can be solved using ISIGR programming and computing suite developed at the Institute of Energy Systems named after L. A. Melentev of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The software is designed for modeling in the Internet the hydraulic modes of the ring systems of water, gas supply and firefighting. The software has an effective, convenient, user-friendly graphical interface that provides for drawing a network layout with minimal effort, performing hydraulic calculations, and interpreting the results in graphical or tabular style.

Abstract:
AbstractIn 1869, the first draft of the periodic table was published by Russian chemist Dmitri Mendeleev. In terms of data science, his achievement can be viewed as a successful example of feature embedding based on human cognition: chemical properties of all known elements at that time were compressed onto the two-dimensional grid system for a tabular display. In this study, we seek to answer the question of whether machine learning can reproduce or recreate the periodic table by using observed physicochemical properties of the elements. To achieve this goal, we developed a periodic table generator (PTG). The PTG is an unsupervised machine learning algorithm based on the generative topographic mapping, which can automate the translation of high-dimensional data into a tabular form with varying layouts on-demand. The PTG autonomously produced various arrangements of chemical symbols, which organized a two-dimensional array such as Mendeleev’s periodic table or three-dimensional spiral table according to the underlying periodicity in the given data. We further showed what the PTG learned from the element data and how the element features, such as melting point and electronegativity, are compressed to the lower-dimensional latent spaces.
