Abstract:
In a product market with network externality, outperforming products are not always disseminated. Product markets are often modeled and examined by simulation to clarify product diffusion processes. In earlier work, where multiagent systems and complex networks were used to model the product market, consumer heterogeneity was not considered despite its influence on the product diffusion process. This paper introduces threshold models into multiagent-systembased simulation in complex networks to realize consumer heterogeneity. The feasibility of the proposed method is discussed using computer simulation results, and consumer heterogeneity and network structure affect product diffusion processes.

Inability to speak or to talk is called muteness ormutism; often caused by speech disorder, loss of hearing or insome cases, surgery. The families of these people suffering fromsuch disease often learn sign languages like American SignLanguage (ASL) to communicate, but if a mute person meetssomeone who doesn’t know ASL then there will be acommunication barrier between them. So, to overcome thiscommunication barrier we require a system through which amute person can communicate with everyone, hence breakingdown a speech barrier. In this regard, we proposed a systembased on image processing to identify the sign and perform somecommon speech patterns using the speaker.

Teacher can understand the learning process of students by students’ report, homework and discussion before, but we can understand students’ learning behavior through web now. It is difficult to analysis whether users are interested in full learning web page context or they just are interested in some parts of learning web page by web log file’s records. Thus, we wish to get users’ browsing behavior on learning web page through tracking their mouse movement and further detect their interesting area on learning web page. It can provide more good and learning model for current web based learning system.

In this paper, we employsmartphone to capture image, and then vehicle detection, license plate location, character warped and recognition are implemented a real-time plates recognition system by cloud computing.Next, we combine vehicle database and license plate recognition system to get in front of vehicleinformation in smart phone immediately.The experimental environmentis the sun, night andrain. Test subjectswere281(passenger cars). Experimental results show that,the rate of vehicle detection and recognition are 81.49% and 91.70%respectively.

Recommendation systems have been widely used for e-commerce and personal activities, including films, news, books, traveling and restaurants. Nevertheless, electronic games are new recreations which recommendation systems haven’t been applied to yet. Most people merely regard games recommendation as the extension of other commodities, while what really counts in playing games is active participation of users, cultivation of personal skill, interaction of communities, and immersion effects, hence the interaction between users and products are more complex. Furthermore, personal experiences will certainly influence one’s preference and satisfaction during the period of user-product interaction. If a user gives a product or service a negative evaluation, one may merely feel unpleasant about some certain experience, and is unwilling to attain the same experience again. It doesn’t mean that the user is completely unsatisfied with the item, but this kind of situation cannot be reflected on the single criterion rating recommendation system. This research adopts GameFlow Model which is based on Flow Theory to devise the criteria of user experience measurement, and use them for the rating elements of multi-criteria recommendation system. We adjust the criteria weight by analyzing the similarities between criteria and overall rating to enhance the result of prediction and prove the usefulness of our system. The primary measurements, F1-measure and users’ system satisfaction rate, reach to 86% and 73% respectively.

In this thesis, we develop a system that can detect and measure the circular holes on the sheet metal based on machine vision. The proposed system integrates a desktop CNC machine, a CCD industrial camera and image processing technologies to achieve the goal. By using machine vision technology, the alignment and calibration information of the sheet metal can be obtained from the captured hole images. Furthermore, the location and size of each detected hole can be calculated at the same time. Then, the obtained information of each detected hole is compared with the specification and the result will be shown on a GUI window. Especially, we develop an improved image processing method that can enhance the detection efficiency greatly. Firstly, the enhancement of the hole image is performed. Then, an improved Otsu algorithm is applied to segment foreground and background. Afterwards, the circular area mean filter is adopted to filter noises of the image, and the improved Sobel edge detection method and randomized Hough transform algorithm are performed to detect and measure the circular hole. About the improved Sobel edge detection is our research invention and bring lots of benefit. Experimental results show that the proposed image processing method can reduce the detection errors and complexity greatly.

Aging population and high mortality rate associated with cardiovascular disease has been concerned severely in recent years. With the combination of medical, electronics and network technology, the observation of the disease has not been confined in the hospitals. As the concept of health and self-cultivation become popular, the patterns of medical care should change from the disease treatment to disease prevention. The development of health care systems will be emphasized from hospitals to home cares. In addition, "battery-powered" and "portable" are two key features of the home-care devices . In this paper, we applied the ANT wireless module with micro-controller platform to develop an Electrocardiogram (ECG) acquisition system. The ANT is a type of low-power consumption and short-range wireless transmission protocol. The ANT technology is used to implement the acquisition and transmission of ECG signals. In addition, the Android phone is used to display the ECG conveyed from the ANT module. We used low-power MSP430 platform as the micro-controller to implement ECG sampling, ADC conversion, encapsulation and de-capsulation of ANT protocol message. We also focused on the ANT Low Power mechanism, ANT frequency agility mechanisms. The PC platform is used to receive and verify the integrity of the data. To understand the ANT features, in this thesis, we evaluated the performance in terms of the packet loss rate for the ANT protocol. To compare the power consumption between ANT system and Bluetooth system, we integrated the MSP430 platform and ANT as well as Bluetooth module to realize an ECG acquisition system. Our proto-type showed that the ANT technology provides practical solution for low power-consumption medical devices in practical applications.

This study is based on the Reference Model for an Open Archival Information System (OAIS). From the perspectives of ingest, data management, archival storage, and access of historical news, the current study discusses the digitization process and the design of system architect. In addition, there are comparison and analysis of the interoperability protocol which is usually used between information systems and metadata formats that are suitable for news articles. The aim is to establish a digital archives management system that is suitable for the Taiwanese baseball historical newspaper in order to increase the value of the newspaper and help the management, storage, and deliver of digital historical news articles. The findings of this study are as follows: 1. Draw up a digitization process for historical news articles. 2. Compare, analyze, and conclude the interoperability protocols and metadata formats that are suitable for historical news articles. 3. Establish a digital archiving and access system of Taiwanese baseball historical newspaper. Some suggestions proposed in this study include: 1. There is no element of metadata formats to record the fuzzy membership degree. 2. Establish an OAI-PMH Data provider update alert. 3. Continually establish the digital archiving system of the Historical Newspaper of Taiwanese Baseball.
