Abstract:
Research background: The responsibility of organizations towards their surroundings and society is a long-term strategic goal, which is supported by various projects and concepts, at the national, and global levels. The conception of sustainable development represents a model of society development, where economic and social development should be in line with the preservation of natural values for present and future generations. Purpose of the article: The concept of Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is a voluntary commitment of an organization that wants to behave responsibly towards its surroundings. The concept is generally understood as a strategic initiative and it is applied mainly by large companies. Small and medium-sized companies are rather not interested in the concept, they are afraid of the burden for the company. The paper focuses on the potential of systematic use of the CSR concept by small organizations. Methods: The survey was conducted in selected small organizations. The degree of acquaintance with the principles of the concept and especially with the possibilities of the concept was determined, the current state was analyzed and activities for implementation were proposed, and indicators for long-term monitoring were proposed. Findings & Value added: CSR concept encourages the company to make a positive impact on the environment. Small organizations often apply some of its principles, unknowingly by their natural responsible behavior. However, a systems-conscious approach is important. Small businesses can use the potential of the concept and implement its principles for the benefit of themselves and their surroundings.

Abstract:
The following paper was developed with a view to identifying the relationship between Sustainable Development and Operational Excellence concepts and to assess the state-of-the-art in Operational Excellence within Sustainable Development concept. Highly unstable business environments and opportunities occurring in the market require a specific approach and knowledge to achieve success. It is the authors’ view that improvements in the delivery of sustainable results through social, environmental, and economic responsibility is possible thanks to modern management concepts, strategies, and tools. These activities and approaches, when properly incorporated, significantly support the functioning of businesses in a responsible and profitable way. This paper outlines a systematic literature review of the subject described above. The literature review has been conducted with the use of two databases: Web of Science and Scopus. The results of the analysis show that there is a visible connection between Operational Excellence and Sustainable Development concepts. On the basis of the review, one can notice a strong relationship between Operational Excellence and management concepts, e.g., Lean Management. Nevertheless, the input of the selected articles based on abstract analysis compared to the whole compilation concerning Sustainable Development shows that there is a gap. The authors believe that this topic is interesting and worth further analysis.

Abstract:
Public value is a new and important concept in the field of public administration. A large number of researchers has focused on the concept of public value during the last 10 years or so. This concept gives a new idea of public management with the theme of people’s first approach to facilitate them. Public value creation is the main concern of public managers in today’s public sector organizations. This paper presents a systematic literature review of 413 articles published on the topic of public value in Scopus index journals from 1995 to 2018. A large number of articles on public value shows the importance of the concept of public value. This systematic literature review reveals that most of the work on public value has been done in developed countries like USA, UK, Australia, and Netherland and developing countries are far behind on the research of public value.

Abstract:
This article examines the trope of systematic destruction (sustavno/sistemsko uništavanje) and traces how it was mobilized during the 2018 Croatian shipbuilding crisis. First, an ethnographic vignette introduces the political actors and issues at stake during the crisis. The literature on post-socialist labor transformations and deindustrialization in South-East Europe is reviewed, and the tensions between political actors and policy are described. The concept of “predatory privatization” and the etic concept of “creative destruction” are then discussed as a prelude to an analysis of the emic concept of “systematic destruction.” Finally, the relations between the different concepts are described and the emotive power and political uses of the “systematic destruction” trope are explored and placed in the wider context of post-Yugoslav deindustrialization.

Abstract:
Purpose – Service operations are currently growing in importance, with a consequent increase in academic interest in the matter. In this context, the purpose of this paper is to systematise the concept associated with the service experience by drawing from the definitions which have been established in the relevant scientific literature. Design/methodology/approach – A systematic search in the literature was conducted, aiming to identify the main articles, journals, references, and keywords on the subject of customer experience. Using bibliometric content and analysis a number of articles are analysed towards a concept of service experience. Findings – The study verifies that service experience and service quality are distinct concepts that have to be analysed separately. The construction of this proposed concept has been oriented by content analysis of the reviewed articles. Dimensions and components that categorise this concept in a singular manner have been identified. The service experience, which can be thought of as a process, is composed of the interdependent and complementary dimensions of “predispositions”, “interactions”, and “reactions”, which condition the perception of quality and affect current as well as future purchasing decisions. As a result of their strategic importance for service organisations, customer experiences therefore warrant careful analysis. Research limitations/implications – This work is theoretical so empirical studies are necessary in order to validate or reject the proposed concept. Originality/value – Very few systematic literature reviews of the characterisation and conceptualisation on service experience concept are available.

Abstract:
Case study research plays a crucial role in studying the development of the bioeconomy. The versatility of the empirical method coupled with the uncertainty surrounding the bioeconomy concept requires a consistent and comparable application of the method to obtain valid and generalizable results. To stimulate such systematization, we first need to know the state of case studies in bioeconomy research. This article reviews the recent literature with a qualitative content analysis facilitated by systematic text coding. Our results provide an overview of how the narratives of the concept of bioeconomy affect the versatility of the case study research. Based on the low density of the illustrated semantic networks, we conclude that future empirical research on bio-based phenomena should be more transdisciplinary and rely more on cross-sectoral approaches. Further work is also required in developing common research protocols that support transparency and replicability of case studies in the bioeconomy.

Abstract:
Purpose Entrepreneurial alertness is a key factor in business opportunity identification. Scholars have determined that successful entrepreneurs have high levels of entrepreneurial alertness, but only a limited number of studies are available on the concept. One of the major reasons identified is the fragmented constituents and less knowledge of the components determining the level of alertness. The present study aims to integrate the varied research on entrepreneurial alertness, identify its core components and develop the understanding of the concept of entrepreneurial alertness. Design/methodology/approach The study is based on a systematic review of secondary research. The first stage involved identifying relevant publications and applying practical screening. In the second stage, the resources were screened for the inclusion criteria, and in the final stage, the articles meeting the inclusion criteria were read in detail for the final analysis. Findings The review resulted in identification of the following core components of the alertness construct – sensing and searching information, cognitive ability, personality factors (like creativity and self-efficacy), environment, social networks, knowledge and experience. The review also highlighted that cognitive ability plays a central role in alertness. Originality/value Based on the review of literature, the study proposes a model of the alertness construct, which attempts to draw a relationship between the identified components. The review also uncovers several unexplored areas, which still need to be addressed in the area of entrepreneurial alertness.

Abstract:
The concept of Flettner rotor, a rotating cylinder immersed in a fluid current, with a top-mounted disk, has been analyzed by means of unsteady Reynolds averaged Navier-Stokes simulations, with the aim of creating a suitable tool for the preliminary design of the Flettner rotor as a ship’s auxiliary propulsion system. The simulation has been executed to evaluate the performance sensitivity of the Flettner rotor with respect to systematic variations of several parameters, that is, the spin ratio, the rotor aspect ratio, the effect of the end plates, and their dimensions. The Flettner rotor device has been characterized in terms of lift and drag coefficients, and these data were compared with experimental trends available in literature. A verification study has been conducted in order to evaluate the accuracy of the simulation results and the main sources of numerical uncertainty. All the simulation results were used to achieve a surrogate model of lift and drag coefficients. This model is an effective mathematical tool for the preliminary design of Flettner rotor. Finally, an example of assessment of the Flettner rotor performance as an auxiliary propulsion device on a real tanker ship is reported.

Abstract:
World is generating immeasurable amount of data every minute, that needs to be analyzed for better decision making. In order to fulfil this demand of faster analytics, businesses are adopting efficient stream processing and machine learning techniques. However, data streams are particularly challenging to handle. One of the prominent problems faced while dealing with streaming data is concept drift. Concept drift is described as, an unexpected change in the underlying distribution of the streaming data that can be observed as time passes. In this work, we have conducted a systematic literature review to discover several methods that deal with the problem of concept drift. Most frequently used supervised and unsupervised techniques have been reviewed and we have also surveyed commonly used publicly available artificial and real-world datasets that are used to deal with concept drift issues.

Abstract:
The basis of each subject is a system of interrelated scientific concepts, from which the quality of the students' knowledge and understanding of the subject matter depends. It is not possible to achieve a level of understanding in natural science education if learning was not systematic. The content of many natural science concepts is so complex that it is impossible to disclose it in one lesson or even in one topic. The content of the concept is disclosed gradually, in parts, by establishing relationships with other concepts, linking them to a system of scientific concepts. Such concepts are being developed throughout the learning period. In this way, a holistic concept of the world is formed. In order to form a system of natural science concepts, it is necessary to make appropriate usage of internal and interdisciplinary integration, to analyse common points of interaction. The principles of systematization and integration of knowledge must be applied. For this purpose, it is appropriate to apply the graph-tree method. This article deals with a systematic integration of the content of "movement" concept as one of the approaches to comprehensive natural science education. The graph-tree method is used to reveal the integrity of “movement” concept in basic education. The concept of movement is chosen as one of the most important concepts of science, differently known and understood by all students. Movement in biological, chemical or physical processes at different levels and in different aspects is analysed by learners at all stages of general education. Abstract:
This article introduces a neural network based cognitive architecture termed Concept Hierarchy Memory Model (CHMM) for conceptual knowledge representation and commonsense reasoning. CHMM is composed of two subnetworks: a Concept Formation Network (CFN), that acquires concepts based on their sensory representations; and a Concept Hierarchy Network (CHN), that encodes hierarchical relationships between concepts. Based on Adaptive Resonance Associative Map (ARAM), a supervised Adaptive Resonance Theory (ART) model, CHMM provides a systematic treatment for concept formation and organization of a concept hierarchy. Specifically, a concept can be learned by sampling activities across multiple sensory fields. By chunking relations between concepts as cognitive codes, a concept hierarchy can be learned/modified through experience. Also, fuzzy relations between concepts can now be represented in terms of the weights on the links connecting them. Using a unified inferencing mechanism based on code firing, CHMM performs an important class of commonsense reasoning, including concept recognition and property inheritance.

Research on biological mechanisms of eating behavior and related disorders, such as obesity and anorexia nervosa, has become a large field of research in the last 15 years. With the discovery of peptides related to hypothalamic control of food intake (e.g. leptin and ghrelin) the search for the biological ‘master key’ of feeding control was renewed. As a result, mid-20th century biological concepts based on systematic and cybernetic thoughts fell into oblivion. This review highlights discoveries of hypothalamic-controlled feeding and eating behavior with a cybernetic and systematic perspective. Interestingly, older ideas of hypothalamic function offer possibilities for the incorporation of new molecular discoveries into systematic concepts of feeding behavior.

Abstract:
Any notion or concept of stress should fulfil the following requirements. First, the definition should be readily communicable both to professionals and the community at large. Second, the concept should be readily converted into constructs which are suitable for research. In this latter regard it is easier to present and discuss a stress model. This model differentiates a number of factors which, although interdependent, are conceptually distinct. By adequately discriminating between these factors, operational criteria may be defined and a systematic assessment of the effects of stress will be facilitated. A model is thus presented which describes the stress process.

AbstractObjectivesSelf-concept distortion has been extensively linked with decreasing mental health in gay and lesbian youth. Social context has been proposed to have a moderating effect on the development of a healthy self-concept. However, no good quality review has approached these concepts with regards to LGBT youth.MethodsA systematic review was conducted on the relationship between social context and self-concept in gay and lesbian youth. Twenty studies were included in the review.ResultsQuality assessment of papers yielded moderate methodological strength. Findings implied that social context has considerable influence on self-concept development. Discrepancies in assessment methods, areas of social context examined, and one-dimensional nature of examining self-concept interferes with drawing explicit conclusions regarding the relationship between social context and self-concept.ConclusionPositivity of social context is not conclusively relatable to positive self-concept development, and similarly, a negative context is not predetermining of self-concept distortions. Building on resilience factors of gay and lesbian youth, working together with families, and advancing and utilizing available educational and community resources should mitigate the strength of overt and covert heterosexism hindering healthy self-concept development. Further longitudinal and cross-cultural research will be necessary to provide insight into the mechanisms of associations.

Abstract:
The never-ending Work on Concepts – Illustrated with the Concept of ›Mündigkeit‹ A scientific approach to pedagogical topics and questions operates with ›concepts‹ that are somewhat constitutive for its own field of research. These concepts refer to systematic, historically developed relations which are still in the process of becoming. Doing justice to the claim to scientific validity, a critical reflection of the genesis and systematics of the concepts used is presupposed; if it does not happen, a scientific discussion inevitably runs the risk of becoming imprecise – losing its own content. Therefore, a critical reflexion of concepts such as ›Mündigkeit‹ has to be inherent in any scientific work and is to be thought of as the task of a self-reflexive science.

Abstract:
Traditional assessments are typically constructed on logical taxonomies and content specifications but lack explicit cognitive models of the processes and problem-solving strategies that underlie student performance. Cognitive Diagnostic Assessment (CDA) fills this gap by combining cognitive science and psychometrics. CDA is in its infancy, but over 1,000 relevant studies have been conducted in this area during the last 20 years. Facing these complicated studies, many beginners struggle to understand the whole picture of CDA. This paper systematically reviews the literature on CDA and relevant cognitive diagnosis models (CDMs) with the application of a concept mapping technology. Concept mapping is graphical representation of concepts and their relationships. Its use in this study allows researchers and students to gain in-depth knowledge about CDA and CDM and identify areas of future research.

Abstract:
Education Scotland’s (2018) framework for interventions for equity supporting the Scottish Attainment Challenge highlights the promotion of high quality learning and the effective use of evidence and data. This study protocol outlines the methodology of a systematic review of the literature into the use of interleaving to facilitate the effective learning and teaching of new concepts. The systematic review has been pre-registered with PROSPERO, an international database of prospectively registered systematic reviews (https://www.crd.york.ac.uk/PROSPERO/). The review will investigate whether presenting examples of to-be-learned concepts in an interleaved order is a more effective learning strategy than presenting examples blocked by topic, in terms of learners' ability to remember examples and to transfer learning to novel examples. Interleaving is widely recommended as an evidence-based approach to teaching with considerable potential as a strategy for learners experiencing difficulties in working memory functioning and conceptual learning, but to date there has not been a comprehensive review of the evidence base. The review will address this gap. It will synthesize primary research studies from the past decade, investigate boundary conditions and variables that interact with interleaving, and will include a meta-analysis of recent studies. This protocol provides the details of the rationale of the review, and details the inclusion criteria and approaches to data extraction.

Abstract:
AbstractThere are an increasing number of children who are dependent on medical technology to sustain their lives. Although significant research on this issue is taking place, the terminology used is variable and the concept of technology dependence is ill-defined. A systematic concept analysis was conducted examining the attributes, antecedents, and consequences of the concept of technology dependent, as portrayed in the literature. We found that this concept refers to a wide range of clinical technology to support biological functioning across a dependency continuum, for a range of clinical conditions. It is commonly initiated within a complex biopsychosocial context and has wide ranging sequelae for the child and family, and health and social care delivery. Conclusion: The term technology dependent is increasingly redundant. It objectifies a heterogenous group of children who are assisted by a myriad of technology and who adapt to, and function with, this assistance in numerous ways. What is Known: • There are an increasing number of children who require medical technology to sustain their life, commonly referred to as technology dependent. This concept analysis critically analyses the relevance of the term technology dependent which is in use for over 30 years. What is New: • Technology dependency refers to a wide range of clinical technology to support biological functioning across a dependency continuum, for a range of clinical conditions. It is commonly initiated within a complex biopsychosocial context and has wide-ranging sequelae for the child and family, and health and social care delivery. • The paper shows that the term technology dependent is generally portrayed in the literature in a problem-focused manner. • This term is increasingly redundant and does not serve the heterogenous group of children who are assisted by a myriad of technology and who adapt to, and function with, this assistance in numerous ways. More appropriate child-centred terminology will be determined within the TechChild project.

Abstract:
The theory of wicked problems, originating from Western academic discussion, has evolved since the 2000s toward a universal diagnostic of societal challenges. In this article, we employ a systematic literature review to investigate the application of the concept of wicked problems in studies focusing on the African context. Our aim is to understand the additional value and limitations of using the concept in a non-Western frame of reference. We conclude that the concept remains underutilized in studies concentrating on Africa; moreover, when it is used, it is mainly by academics of Western or Anglophone origin. Overall, the concept of wicked problems is mainly applied descriptively rather than theoretically. Based on the analysis of the themes and issues characterized as wicked, we elaborate toward a typology that takes account of the concrete “manifestations” (e.g., health issues such as AIDS/HIV and its treatment history) and “mechanisms” (e.g., historical path dependency) that condition the presence of wicked problems in the African context. The article contributes to the theory of wicked problems by developing a typology that distinguishes between interlinked and contextual problems (often characterized through the concept of “dual wickedness”), and proposes that problems can become exacerbated when the two dimensions are simultaneously present.

Abstract:
We generalize the concept of “systematic risk” to a broad class of risk measures potentially accounting for high distribution moments, downside risk, rare disasters, as well as other risk attributes. We offer two different approaches. First is an equilibrium framework generalizing the Capital Asset Pricing Model, two-fund separation, and the security market line. Second is an axiomatic approach resulting in a systematic risk measure as the unique solution to a risk allocation problem. Both approaches lead to similar results extending the traditional beta to capture multiple dimensions of risk. The results lend themselves naturally to empirical investigation. (JEL D81, G11, G12)

Abstract:
The article is devoted to the enterprise concept theoretical framework development, which is objectified in both Civil and Economic codes of Ukraine. Thus, named concepts are fundamentally different. In particular, Civil Code of Ukraine recognises enterprise as an object. In the same time Economic code gives a birth to prosubjective enterprise concept. Nevertheless, both legal acts are aimed to regulate economical relationships, which results to doctrinal and practical needs to identify the optimal approach of understanding the nature of enterprise under the current legislation of Ukraine. In order to identify the place of the enterprise in the system of subjects of economic relations, the relevant concept is compared with other subjects of the economic relations (business entity; business organization) and with the intersectoral participant of business relations – a legal entity. Based on the analysis of these concepts, the Authors claimed a non-systematic approach to concept defining under the Economic Code of Ukraine and other shortcomings of legislative techniques in the definition of the enterprise under named act, which resulted in the absence of a clearly constructed system of subjects of economic law. Thus, the establishment of the place of the enterprise in the relevant system seems impractical
