Abstract:

Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) is an important tool for the non-invasive diagnosis of a variety of cardiovascular diseases. Parametric mapping with multi-contrast CMR is able to quantify tissue alterations in myocardial disease and promises to improve patient care. However, magnetic resonance imaging is an inherently slow imaging modality, resulting in long acquisition times for parametric mapping which acquires a series of cardiac images with different contrasts for signal fitting or dictionary matching. Furthermore, extra efforts to deal with respiratory and cardiac motion by triggering and gating further increase the scan time. Several techniques have been developed to speed up CMR acquisitions, which usually acquire less data than that required by the Nyquist–Shannon sampling theorem, followed by regularized reconstruction to mitigate undersampling artefacts. Recent advances in CMR parametric mapping speed up CMR by synergistically exploiting spatial–temporal and contrast redundancies. In this article, we will review the recent developments in multi-contrast CMR image reconstruction for parametric mapping with special focus on low-rank and model-based reconstructions. Deep learning-based multi-contrast reconstruction has recently been proposed in other magnetic resonance applications. These developments will be covered to introduce the general methodology. Abstract:

This special issue focuses on synergistic tomographic image reconstruction in a range of contributions in multiple disciplines and various application areas. The topic of image reconstruction covers substantial inverse problems (Mathematics) which are tackled with various methods including statistical approaches (e.g. Bayesian methods, Monte Carlo) and computational approaches (e.g. machine learning, computational modelling, simulations). The issue is separated in two volumes. This volume focuses mainly on algorithms and methods. Some of the articles will demonstrate their utility on real-world challenges, either medical applications (e.g. cardiovascular diseases, proton therapy planning) or applications in material sciences (e.g. material decomposition and characterization). One of the desired outcomes of the special issue is to bring together different scientific communities which do not usually interact as they do not share the same platforms (such as journals and conferences). This special issue is the second part of a themed issue that focuses on synergistic tomographic image reconstruction and includes a range of contributions in multiple disciplines and application areas. The primary subject of study lies within inverse problems which are tackled with various methods including statistical and computational approaches. This volume covers algorithms and methods for a wide range of imaging techniques such as spectral X-ray computed tomography (CT), positron emission tomography combined with CT or magnetic resonance imaging, bioluminescence imaging and fluorescence-mediated imaging as well as diffuse optical tomography combined with ultrasound. Some of the articles demonstrate their utility on real-world challenges, either medical applications (e.g. motion compensation for imaging patients) or applications in material sciences (e.g. material decomposition and characterization). One of the desired outcomes of the special issues is to bring together different scientific communities which do not usually interact as they do not share the same platforms such as journals and conferences. Conventional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is hampered by long scan times and only qualitative image contrasts that prohibit a direct comparison between different systems. To address these limitations, model-based reconstructions explicitly model the physical laws that govern the MRI signal generation. By formulating image reconstruction as an inverse problem, quantitative maps of the underlying physical parameters can then be extracted directly from efficiently acquired k-space signals without intermediate image reconstruction—addressing both shortcomings of conventional MRI at the same time. This review will discuss basic concepts of model-based reconstructions and report on our experience in developing several model-based methods over the last decade using selected examples that are provided complete with data and code. Abstract:

This work considers synergistic multi-spectral CT reconstruction where information from all available energy channels is combined to improve the reconstruction of each individual channel. We propose to fuse these available data (represented by a single sinogram) to obtain a polyenergetic image which keeps structural information shared by the energy channels with increased signal-to-noise ratio. This new image is used as prior information during a channel-by-channel minimization process through the directional total variation. We analyse the use of directional total variation within variational regularization and iterative regularization. Our numerical results on simulated and experimental data show improvements in terms of image quality and in computational speed. SIRF is a powerful PET/MR image reconstruction research tool for processing data and developing new algorithms. In this research, new developments to SIRF are presented, with focus on motion estimation and correction. SIRF’s recent inclusion of the adjoint of the resampling operator allows gradient propagation through resampling, enabling the MCIR technique. Another enhancement enabled registering and resampling of complex images, suitable for MRI. Furthermore, SIRF’s integration with the optimization library CIL enables the use of novel algorithms. Finally, SPM is now supported, in addition to NiftyReg, for registration. Results of MR and PET MCIR reconstructions are presented, using FISTA and PDHG, respectively. These demonstrate the advantages of incorporating motion correction and variational and structural priors. Abstract:

The aroma of an instant white tea (IWT) was extracted through simultaneous distillation–extraction (SDE) and analyzed by sensory evaluation, gas chromatography-mass spectrometry-olfactometry (GC-MS-O), aroma reconstruction, omission test and synergistic interaction analysis. Sensory evaluation showed the IWT was dominated with floral and sweet notes. The SDE extract had the aroma similar to the IWT. The main volatile components in the SDE extract were benzyl alcohol, linalool, hotrienol, geraniol, α-terpineol, coumarin, camphene, benzeneacetaldehyde, 2-hexanone, cis-jasmin lactone and phenylethyl alcohol. GC-MS-O and aroma reconstruction experiments showed 16 aroma-active compounds. Linalool, trans-β-damascenone and camphene were the major contributors to floral, sweet and green notes based on flavor dilution analysis and omission test. Linalool and trans-β-damascenone had synergistic effect to promote floral and sweet notes. Camphene and trans-β-damascenone had synergistic effect to reduce green and sweet notes. The study helps to understand the aroma of IWT and antagonism interactions among aroma-active volatiles.

Imaging is omnipresent in modern society with imaging devices based on a zoo of physical principles, probing a specimen across different wavelengths, energies and time. Recent years have seen a change in the imaging landscape with more and more imaging devices combining that which previously was used separately. Motivated by these hardware developments, an ever increasing set of mathematical ideas is appearing regarding how data from different imaging modalities or channels can be synergistically combined in the image reconstruction process, exploiting structural and/or functional correlations between the multiple images. Here we review these developments, give pointers to important challenges and provide an outlook as to how the field may develop in the forthcoming years. The newly developed core imaging library (CIL) is a flexible plug and play library for tomographic imaging with a specific focus on iterative reconstruction. CIL provides building blocks for tailored regularized reconstruction algorithms and explicitly supports multichannel tomographic data. In the first part of this two-part publication, we introduced the fundamentals of CIL. This paper focuses on applications of CIL for multichannel data, e.g. dynamic and spectral. We formalize different optimization problems for colour processing, dynamic and hyperspectral tomography and demonstrate CIL’s capabilities for designing state-of-the-art reconstruction methods through case studies and code snapshots. We present the Core Imaging Library (CIL), an open-source Python framework for tomographic imaging with particular emphasis on reconstruction of challenging datasets. Conventional filtered back-projection reconstruction tends to be insufficient for highly noisy, incomplete, non-standard or multi-channel data arising for example in dynamic, spectral and in situ tomography. CIL provides an extensive modular optimization framework for prototyping reconstruction methods including sparsity and total variation regularization, as well as tools for loading, preprocessing and visualizing tomographic data. The capabilities of CIL are demonstrated on a synchrotron example dataset and three challenging cases spanning golden-ratio neutron tomography, cone-beam X-ray laminography and positron emission tomography. Abstract:

A software-based workflow is proposed for managing the execution of simulation and image reconstruction for SPECT, PET, CBCT, MRI, BLI and FMI packages in single and multimodal biomedical imaging applications. The workflow is composed of a Bash script, the purpose of which is to provide an interface to the user, and to organize data flow between dedicated programs for simulation and reconstruction. The currently incorporated simulation programs comprise GATE for Monte Carlo simulation of SPECT, PET and CBCT, SpinScenario for simulating MRI, and Lipros for Monte Carlo simulation of BLI and FMI. Currently incorporated image reconstruction programs include CASToR for SPECT and PET as well as RTK for CBCT. MetaImage (mhd) standard is used for voxelized phantom and image data format. Meshlab project (mlp) containers incorporating polygon meshes and point clouds defined by the Stanford triangle format (ply) are employed to represent anatomical structures for optical simulation, and to represent tumour cell inserts. A number of auxiliary programs have been developed for data transformation and adaptive parameter assignment. The software workflow uses fully automatic distribution to, and consolidation from, any number of Linux workstations and CPU cores. Example data are presented for clinical SPECT, PET and MRI systems using the Mida head phantom and for preclinical X-ray, PET and BLI systems employing the Digimouse phantom. The presented method unifies and simplifies multimodal simulation setup and image reconstruction management and might be of value for synergistic image research. With the increasing incidences of orbital wall injuries, effective reconstruction materials and techniques are imperative for optimal clinical outcomes. In this literature review, we delve into the efficacy and potential advantages of using titanium implants coated with nanostructured hydroxyapatite for the reconstruction of the orbital wall. Titanium implants, recognized for their durability and mechanical strength, when combined with the osteoconductive properties of hydroxyapatite, present a potentially synergistic solution. The purpose of this review was to critically analyze the recent literature and present the state of the art in orbital wall reconstruction using titanium implants coated with nanostructured hydroxyapatite. This review offers clinicians detailed insight into the benefits and potential drawbacks of using titanium implants coated with nanostructured hydroxyapatite for orbital wall reconstruction. The highlighted results advocate for its benefits in terms of osseointegration and provide a novel strategy for orbital reconstruction, though further studies are essential to establish long-term efficacy and address concerns.

Background: Fournier’s gangrene is a potentially life threatening synergistic necrotising fascitis of external genitalia and perineal tissues. It commonly affects young men but can also affect women and children. The use of broad spectrum antibiotics and serial wound debridement is the main stay of treatment. The reconstruction of soft tissue defect following the debridement is a challenging task. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the surgical reconstruction methods of soft tissue defects due to Fournier's gangrene.Methods: This was a prospective study conducted in Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Sciences from January 2015 to December 2017. All patients with necrotizing fascitis of external genitalia and perineum, irrespective of age and gender, were included. Parameters such as age, gender, aetiology, predisposing factors, clinical features, defect location, type of bacterial flora, sort of reconstructive procedure used, and duration of hospital stay, post-operative pain, patient satisfaction and mortality, if any, were studied. The choice of reconstructive procedure was based on severity of defect, availability of local tissue and patient preference.Results: Out of 31 cases included in the study, 30 patients underwent reconstructive procedures. The age range was 4 to 74 years (mean 38.5). The commonest presentation was pain, scrotal swelling and fever. The most common aetiology was urogenital diseases. 10 patients were treated by split-thickness skin graft, 5 by secondary suturing, 2 by unilateral superomedial thigh flap, 4 by bilateral superomedial thigh flap, 5 by tensor fascia lata flap, 2 by medial thigh V-Y advancement flap, 2 with perineal artery flap and one case healed by secondary intention.Conclusions: This study suggests that earlier presentation, with early diagnosis and intervention with prompt debridement and appropriate, appropriate antibiotics are the main stays of treatment. The resulting soft tissue defects following wound debridement required surgical reconstruction, except in one case, thus decreasing morbidity, hospital stay and early return of patients to regular life.

Subject motion in positron emission tomography (PET) is a key factor that degrades image resolution and quality, limiting its potential capabilities. Correcting for it is complicated due to the lack of sufficient measured PET data from each position. This poses a significant barrier in calculating the amount of motion occurring during a scan. Motion correction can be implemented at different stages of data processing either during or after image reconstruction, and once applied accurately can substantially improve image quality and information accuracy. With the development of integrated PET-MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) scanners, internal organ motion can be measured concurrently with both PET and MRI. In this review paper, we explore the synergistic use of PET and MRI data to correct for any motion that affects the PET images. Different types of motion that can occur during PET-MRI acquisitions are presented and the associated motion detection, estimation and correction methods are reviewed. Finally, some highlights from recent literature in selected human and animal imaging applications are presented and the importance of motion correction for accurate kinetic modelling in dynamic PET-MRI is emphasized. Introduction The ACL is 1 of 4 main ligaments in the knee. Ligaments are rope-like structures that connect and hold the bones together to keep the knee stable. There are two components of the ACL, the anteromedial bundle (AMB) and the posterolateral bundle (PLB). Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction improves knee stability and function. Phatama et al. reported that there was no significant difference between the peroneus longus and hamstring tendon in terms of tensile strength. Peroneus longus tendon autografts are commonly used in some orthopedic procedures, including spring ligament reconstruction, deltoid ligament reconstruction and medial patellofemoral ligament reconstruction. This is possible, due to the synergistic function of the peroneus longus and peroneus brevis. Some studies have even found that the peroneus brevis is a more effective evertor of the ankle, justifying the harvest of the peroneus longus tendon.

This study attempts to reconstruct the Slippery Slope Framework (SSF) tax compliance model based on the values of Pancasila as the nation's ideology. This study is a conceptual paper through a literature review. The conceptual based on internalization of the value of Pancasila through historicity, rationality, and actuality. Historically, the SSF compliance model has not fully agreed with the values of Pancasila, which reflects the characteristics of taxpayers in Indonesia. Rationally, the SSF compliance model prioritizes the objective role of tax authorities in their primary task of collecting tax revenues. The reconstruction of the model through the actuality of the nation's ideological value occurs by balancing the role of the tax authority’s power with the taxpayers’ trust. The reconstruction propositions of the obedience model are based on humanist religious values at the conceptual level. The reconstruction of the SSF compliance model makes the humanist religious assumption the foundation of the tax authority's power as taxpayers’ trust increases. The reconstruction model is believed to be able to dynamically transform an antagonistic into a synergistic climate to increase voluntary compliance.

Therefore, starting from the point of view of an agricultural multiple robot system architectures, this paper reviews the representative research results of five synergistic technologies of agricultural multi-robots in recent years, namely, environment perception, task allocation, path planning, formation control, and communication, and summarizes the technological progress and development characteristics of these five technologies. Finally, because of these development characteristics, it is shown that the trends and research focus for agricultural multi-robots are to optimize the existing technologies and apply them to a variety of agricultural multi-robots, such as building a hybrid architecture of multi-robot systems, SLAM (simultaneous localization and mapping), cooperation learning of robots, hybrid path planning and formation reconstruction. While synergistic technologies of agricultural multi-robots are extremely challenging in production, in combination with previous research results for real agricultural multi-robots and social development demand, we conclude that it is realistic to expect automated multi-robot systems in the future.

The purpose of this article is to describe a treatment approach for such a case. The principles in this case can help guide treatment for any patient with concomitant ACL and hamstring pathology. Case Report: We describe the case of a 53-year-old male who presented with left ipsilateral simultaneous complete proximal hamstring tendon (HT) and ACL tears after an acute tennis injury. He was successfully treated with a staged procedure, first with a proximal HT repair and later with a delayed ACL reconstruction using a bone-patellar tendon-bone autograft. Conclusion: Ipsilateral simultaneous complete proximal HT and ACL tears can be successfully treated with acute proximal HT repair and delayed ACL reconstruction after rehabilitation from the HT repair. The synergistic relationship between the ACL and hamstring muscles in preventing anterior translation of the tibia necessitates staged reconstruction in the setting of a simultaneous injury. Fast magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is crucial for clinical applications that can alleviate motion artefacts and increase patient throughput. K -space undersampling is an obvious approach to accelerate MR acquisition. However, undersampling of k -space data can result in blurring and aliasing artefacts for the reconstructed images. Recently, several studies have been proposed to use deep learning-based data-driven models for MRI reconstruction and have obtained promising results. However, the comparison of these methods remains limited because the models have not been trained on the same datasets and the validation strategies may be different. The purpose of this work is to conduct a comparative study to investigate the generative adversarial network (GAN)-based models for MRI reconstruction. We reimplemented and benchmarked four widely used GAN-based architectures including DAGAN, ReconGAN, RefineGAN and KIGAN. These four frameworks were trained and tested on brain, knee and liver MRI images using twofold, fourfold and sixfold accelerations, respectively, with a random undersampling mask. Both quantitative evaluations and qualitative visualization have shown that the RefineGAN method has achieved superior performance in reconstruction with better accuracy and perceptual quality compared to other GAN-based methods. With the continuous promotion of the rural revitalisation strategy, the planning and organisation of individual villages can hardly adapt to the current development needs of rural areas, causing synergistic development among villages to become a critical goal in promoting the sustainable development of rural areas. Reconstructing the development space of traditional village clusters can reduce their development gaps and promote coordinated development. Understanding the connections between traditional village units can support adaptive reconstructions of village spatial network structures and offer scientific and reasonable development planning strategies. Based on geographical and economic data publicly released in 2022, this study takes the traditional villages of the Fuchun River Basin in China as an example and uses village development quality and the shortest traffic time crawled in real time by Python to construct a spatial connection model of traditional villages in the Fuchun River Basin. The study also uses social network analysis to analyse the characteristics of the spatial network structure. The results show that (1) the intensity of spatial connections in these traditional villages is severely polarised and imbalanced. (2) The spatial network structure is in the development stage; few villages act as intermediaries, and the networks have poor connectivity and integrity. (3) The connection density within cohesive subgroups varies considerably. No complete transmission path exists among the subgroups, and the path of collaborative development is imperfect. These findings can optimise and reconstruct the selected spatial network of traditional villages to integrate and upgrade their development. The framework system also holds reference significance for other similar rural traditional villages.

Coronary artery disease (CAD) is caused by the formation of plaques in the coronary arteries and is one of the most common cardiovascular diseases. NaF-PET can be used to assess plaque composition, which could be important for therapy planning. One of the main challenges of NaF-PET is cardiac and respiratory motion which can strongly impair diagnostic accuracy. In this study, we investigated the use of a synergistic image registration approach which combined motion-resolved MR and PET data to estimate cardiac and respiratory motion. This motion estimation could then be used to improve the NaF-PET image quality. The approach was evaluated with numerical simulations and in vivo scans of patients suffering from CAD. In numerical simulations, it was shown, that combining MR and PET information can improve the accuracy of motion estimation by more than 15%. For the in vivo scans, the synergistic image registration led to an improvement in uptake visualization. This is the first study to assess the benefit of combining MR and NaF-PET for cardiac and respiratory motion estimation. Currently, NiFe-LDH exhibits an excellent oxygen evolution reaction (OER) due to the interaction of the two metal elements on the layered double hydroxide (LDH) platform. However, such interaction is still insufficient to compensate for its poor electrical conductivity, limited number of active sites and sluggish dynamics. Herein, a feasible two-step hydrothermal strategy that involves coupling low-conductivity NiFe-LDH with 3D porous graphene aerogel (GA) is proposed. The optimized NiFe-LDH/GA (1:1) produced possesses a 257 mV (10 mA cm−2) overpotential and could operate stably for 56 h in an OER. Our investigation demonstrates that the NiFe-LDH/GA has a three-dimensional mesoporous structure, and that there is synergistic interaction between LDH and GA and interfacial reconstruction of NiOOH. Such an interface synergistic coupling effect promotes fast mass transfer and facilitates OER kinetics, and this work offers new insights into designing efficient and stable GA-based electrocatalysts.

Multimodal imaging is an active branch of research as it has the potential to improve common medical imaging techniques. Diffuse optical tomography (DOT) is an example of a low resolution, functional imaging modality that typically has very low resolution due to the ill-posedness of its underlying inverse problem. Combining the functional information of DOT with a high resolution structural imaging modality has been studied widely. In particular, the combination of DOT with ultrasound (US) could serve as a useful tool for clinicians for the formulation of accurate diagnosis of breast lesions. In this paper, we propose a novel method for US-guided DOT reconstruction using a portable time-domain measurement system. B-mode US imaging is used to retrieve morphological information on the probed tissues by means of a semi-automatical segmentation procedure based on active contour fitting. A two-dimensional to three-dimensional extrapolation procedure, based on the concept of distance transform, is then applied to generate a three-dimensional edge-weighting prior for the regularization of DOT. The reconstruction procedure has been tested on experimental data obtained on specifically designed dual-modality silicon phantoms. Results show a substantial quantification improvement upon the application of the implemented technique. Combined use of PET and dual-energy CT provides complementary information for multi-parametric imaging. PET-enabled dual-energy CT combines a low-energy X-ray CT image with a high-energy γ -ray CT (GCT) image reconstructed from time-of-flight PET emission data to enable dual-energy CT material decomposition on a PET/CT scanner. The maximum-likelihood attenuation and activity (MLAA) algorithm has been used for GCT reconstruction but suffers from noise. Kernel MLAA exploits an X-ray CT image prior through the kernel framework to guide GCT reconstruction and has demonstrated substantial improvements in noise suppression. However, similar to other kernel methods for image reconstruction, the existing kernel MLAA uses image intensity-based features to construct the kernel representation, which is not always robust and may lead to suboptimal reconstruction with artefacts. In this paper, we propose a modified kernel method by using an autoencoder convolutional neural network (CNN) to extract an intrinsic feature set from the X-ray CT image prior. A computer simulation study was conducted to compare the autoencoder CNN-derived feature representation with raw image patches for evaluation of kernel MLAA for GCT image reconstruction and dual-energy multi-material decomposition. The results show that the autoencoder kernel MLAA method can achieve a significant image quality improvement for GCT and material decomposition as compared to the existing kernel MLAA algorithm. A weakness of the proposed method is its potential over-smoothness in a bone region, indicating the importance of further optimization in future work. The second phase of the survey discussed three opportunities to address the three challenges, respectively: intelligent vehicle infrastructure cooperative system, supply chain localization, and the reconstruction of the technology stack. The third phase of the survey summarized the development experience over the past three years, validated the aforementioned opportunities, and suggested the government promote the digitalization of vehicles and mobility, automotive companies use more domestic chips, and two industries build the ecological cooperation model.

AbstractCorrelative microscopy approaches offer synergistic solutions to many research problems. One such combination, that has been studied in limited detail, is the use of atom probe tomography (APT) and transmission Kikuchi diffraction (TKD) on the same tip specimen. By combining these two powerful microscopy techniques, the microstructure of important engineering alloys can be studied in greater detail. For the first time, the accuracy of crystallographic measurements made using APT will be independently verified using TKD. Experimental data from two atom probe tips, one a nanocrystalline Al–0.5Ag alloy specimen collected on a straight flight-path atom probe and the other a high purity Mo specimen collected on a reflectron-fitted instrument, will be compared. We find that the average minimum misorientation angle, calculated from calibrated atom probe reconstructions with two different pole combinations, deviate 0.7° and 1.4°, respectively, from the TKD results. The type of atom probe and experimental conditions appear to have some impact on this accuracy and the reconstruction and measurement procedures are likely to contribute further to degradation in angular resolution. The challenges and implications of this correlative approach will also be discussed.

Being capable of passively capturing transient scenes occurring in picoseconds and even shorter time with an extremely large sequence depth in a snapshot, compressed ultrafast photography (CUP) has aroused tremendous attention in ultrafast optical imaging. However, the high compression ratio induced by large sequence depth brings the problem of low image quality in image reconstruction, preventing CUP from observing transient scenes with fine spatial information. To overcome these restrictions, we propose an efficient image reconstruction algorithm with multi-scale (MS) weighted denoising based on the plug-and-play (PnP) based alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM) framework for multi-channel coupled CUP (MC-CUP), named the MCMS-PnP algorithm. By removing non-Gaussian distributed noise using weighted MS denoising during each iteration of the ADMM, and adaptively adjusting the weights via sufficiently exploiting the coupling information among different acquisition channels collected by MC-CUP, a synergistic combination of hardware and algorithm can be realized to significantly improve the quality of image reconstruction. Both simulation and experimental results demonstrate that the proposed adaptive MCMS-PnP algorithm can effectively improve the accuracy and quality of reconstructed images in MC-CUP, and extend the detectable range of CUP to transient scenes with fine structures.

The research included an analysis of various instruments used to provide financial support for the innovative sector of the economy. The primary focus was on mechanisms that determine the success of the country's innovative development. The analysis allowed assessing the effectiveness of different financial instruments and their impact on economic progress. It identified mechanisms that contribute to the growth of innovative potential and those that may be less successful. Key issues and challenges facing the financial system in implementing innovative projects were also identified. Their potential impacts on overall economic development were revealed, and directions for further research were determined. The article serves as a crucial tool for increasing understanding, developing strategic approaches, and promoting innovative reconstruction of the country's economy. It can be valuable for scholars and professionals studying or working in the fields of economics, finance, and innovation, providing them with knowledge and tools for further research and professional development. Further investigation into specific financial instruments, such as grants and financing, considering the impact of the political and social environment on the effectiveness of innovative financial instruments, can enrich understanding and help contextualize decisionmaking. Abstract:

In order to achieve the resourceful, large-scale and high-value utilization of bulk industrial solid wastes such as flue gas desulfurization gypsum (FGDG), fly ash (FA) and ground blast furnace slag (GGBS), and to reduce the dosage of cementitious materials, orthogonal experimental methods were used to prepare composite cementitious materials based on the principle of synergistic coupling and reconstruction of multi-solid wastes. Through the method of extreme difference and ANOVA, the influence law of different factor levels on the performance of the cementitious materials was studied, and the maximum compressive strength of cementitious materials was reached when the ordinary Portland cement (OPC) dosage was 20%, the FGDG dosage was 56%, the FA dosage was 19.2% and the slag dosage was 4.8%, and the W/B was 0.55. The hydration products and microscopic morphology of the cementitious materials were analyzed by means of XRD, SEM and MIP techniques, so as to elucidate the complex synergistic hydration mechanism, and then to determine the more optimal group distribution ratio. The results show that the hydration reaction between FGDG and OPC can be synergistic with each other, and C-A-H further generates AFt under the action of SO42−, and at the same time, it plays the role of alkali-salt joint excitation for FA–GGBS, generates a large amount of cementitious materials, fills up the pores of the gypsum crystal structure, and forms a dense microstructure.

Abstract:

The purpose of this study was to improve injectability and cohesiveness of original calcium carbonate-calcium phosphate mixed (CaCO3-CaP) self-setting paste for bone filling and repair. With this aim in view dry co-grinding was implemented on the solid phase (vaterite and dicalcium phosphate dihydrate) of this cement. A protocol designed to quantify paste injectability has been established and pointed out the synergistic positive effects of solid phase co-grinding treatment on injectability, cohesiveness and setting time of the paste. The improvement of these properties are related to close and homogeneous association of reactive powders and to the decrease of specific surface area favoring the powders hydration process enhancing setting reaction rate. In addition, the particle size decrease and morphology modification improved flowability of the paste which results in a low and constant (320 g) force level to extrude the paste.

Abstract:

Changes in biodiversity at all levels from molecules to ecosystems are often linked to climate change, which is widely represented univariately by temperature. A global environmental driving mechanism of biodiversity dynamics is thus implied by the strong correlation between temperature proxies and diversity patterns in a wide variety of fauna and flora. Yet climate consists of many interacting variables. Species probably respond to the entire climate system as opposed to its individual facets. Here, we examine ecological and morphological traits of 12 633 individuals of two species of planktonic foraminifera with similar ecologies but contrasting evolutionary outcomes. Our results show that morphological and ecological changes are correlated to the interactions between multiple environmental factors. Models including interactions between climate variables explain at least twice as much variation in size, shape and abundance changes as models assuming that climate parameters operate independently. No dominant climatic driver can be identified: temperature alone explains remarkably little variation through our highly resolved temporal sequences, implying that a multivariate approach is required to understand evolutionary response to abiotic forcing. Our results caution against the use of a ‘silver bullet’ environmental parameter to represent global climate while studying evolutionary responses to abiotic change, and show that more comprehensive reconstruction of palaeobiological dynamics requires multiple biotic and abiotic dimensions.

Abstract:

The objective of the article was to identify the priority areas of application of project management in the public sphere. General and special scientific methods have been used in the article, such as: analytical, synergistic, systemic, statistical, generalization and prognostic analysis. The authors have suggested dividing the priority areas of project management approach in the field of public administration into three blocks: pre-war (peaceful), military and post-war periods of development of Ukraine. It has been concluded that the priority areas of application of project management methods and tools in public management for peaceful development of the state are: the sphere of regional development and development of united territorial communities; the sphere of cultural development and information technology; the sphere of education and science. It has been shown that the perspective areas of the use of project management technologies in public administration for the development of Ukraine in the war and post-war periods will be the following: reconstruction of destroyed and damaged infrastructure, reconstruction of certain settlements, renewal and transformation of the state economy and support of the army, among others.

The formed conjugated dienes undergo the Prins reaction with aldehydes in situ to afford conjugated homoallylic alcohols. These sequential transformations enable the conversion of diastereomeric mixtures of 3-hydroxy-4-pentenoic acids, which are readily prepared from the simple crossed aldol reaction of esters and α,β-unsaturated aldehydes, into 3,5-hexadienyl alcohols with high regio- and stereoselectivities in a single manipulation.
