Abstract:
The human being has dedicated decades of his reflections on business management, thinking about ways to grow his enterprise and multiply his profit exponentially. Abandoning the idea of indiscriminate growth for good, he entered the era of sustainable development and, along with the idea of sustainability, came the need to improve his own sense of management. Despite the need to understand this paradigmatic reformulation of principles and precepts, it was essential to introduce and improve organizational communication, which often did not follow the ecological idea arising from this new sustainable format. Through a qualitative and descriptive research, bibliographic analysis was chosen so that, referenced in articles with high indexation, we seek to point out the characteristics of environmental management in a conceptual and comparative perspective. Through the research carried out, it was possible to verify that communication, as it is inserted in the organizational context today, has obtained several approaches and provided an effective adaptation of organizations in the midst of social and technological changes, enabling a renewed corporate image, more open to the access of its public, more resilient and, certainly, much more dynamic.

Abstract:
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a wide range of global sustainable development targets for the environment, society and economy and they were launched by the United Nations in 2015. In launching the SDGs, the United Nations called on all member states to embrace what are an ambitious and demanding set of challenges but it also emphasised the vital role that businesses, would have to play if these challenges were to be met. The aim of this preliminary commentary paper is to review a number of the ways the Information Communication and Technology industry believes it can contribute to the achievement of the SDGs. The paper outlines the characteristics of the concept of sustainable development and how ICT relates to sustainable development, reviews a number of the ways two leading ICT companies, namely Ericsson and Microsoft and two industry bodies, namely the GSMA which represents the interests of mobile operators worldwide, and the Global e-Sustainability Initiative, believe they can contribute to the achievement of the SDGs. The paper also examines some of the challenges the industry may face in making such a contribution and offers some reflections on the role of ICT in promoting the transition to a more sustainable future for people and the planet.

Abstract:
Sustainable product innovation and its communication with consumers are essential for the realisation of sustainability through sustainable consumption. This research conducted a structured review addressing sustainable product innovation, including sustainable product development and service, environmental and socio-economic impacts, communication of the sustainable product innovation to consumers via ecolabelling and declarations, and sustainability benchmarking. The review revealed that current research in sustainable product development and service focuses more on environmental and economic aspects, but the social aspect has not been given enough attention, and the interconnection between product development and service needs to be further addressed. Systematic sustainable innovation, considering the whole life cycle of the product to control and improve overall sustainability in the early product development stages should be paid more attention. To overcome the gaps, a framework for sustainable product development and services (SPDS) was developed and presented. Furthermore, this review found that communicating understandable environmental and socio-economic performance of products and services with consumers is still challenging. Barriers are identified in deriving benchmarks through sustainability performance assessments. This paper also provides examples of overcoming the barriers in sustainable benchmarking and communication with the “eco-cost” method, which engages both B2B and B2C customers to promote sustainable consumption.

Abstract:
The purpose of this article is to present a research model that examines dependencies of how aspects of corporate social responsibility (CSR)—specifically, communication with stakeholders, knowledge management, and strategy—influence the building of a sustainable development model in enterprises. An instrument with four constructs (CSR-communication with stakeholders, CSR-knowledge management, CSR-strategy, and sustainable development) was prepared and served to entities from medium-sized enterprises. The collected data was analyzed by modeling the partial least squares structural equations using the least squares method. The results showed that all three constructs (CSR-communication with stakeholders, CSR-knowledge management, CSR-strategy) were positively and strongly associated with sustainable development model building in enterprises. The practical implications were intended to provide an understanding of behavior related to the development of business models oriented towards sustainable development in the small business sector. Research can help companies identify the advantages and disadvantages of retaining existing users and attracting new users by communicating with stakeholders, managing knowledge, and creating responsible strategies. This study enriches the literature by contributing to general knowledge about creating a model of sustainable development. Social reports on actions for sustainable development are of particular importance, and this topic is also important for the small and medium sized enterprises (SME) sector.

Abstract:
Purpose Right up to the moment, the financial sector has been considered a clean and a neutral sector, as far as social and environmental impact concerns. The purpose of this paper is to determine the attitude of Spanish credit institutions to the sustainable development. Design/methodology/approach Delphi methodology was used to test the viability and validity of the questionnaire and to choose the best systematic way of communication. The research to understand society and environment focussed on investments was conducted using a survey completed by 57 Spanish credit institutions. Various types of statistical analyses were performed to assess the questionnaire. Findings The higher the entities’ investment is in environmental projects, the more sensitive they will be about social responsibilities issues. However, the higher the percentage invested in funding to communities or dejected regions and in cultural projects. Research limitations/implications To know, measure and evaluate the activities of a credit institution in the environment, it is necessary to define indicators for the policies, procedures and management practices adequate for the sector. Practical implications Credit Spanish Institutions sector organizations are responding positively to sustainable development and, in the process, enhancing stakeholder value. Social implications In various practices of credit institutions, implementing a preventive environmental approach or undertaking initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibilities – along with the possibility to allocate funds for certain projects – environmental conditions are also considered. Originality/value To develop good environmental practices in credit institutions, they apply the principles of sustainability and identify and quantify the environmental risk in the normal internal process of risk assessment.

Abstract:
The environment plays a vibrant role in sustaining human life such that without a suitable environment, humans will find it difficult to survive. The 1992 Constitution of the Republic of Ghana mandates an excellent and healthy environment for all. Hence, it’s a human right that must be upheld and needs a collective effort to sustain it. Thus, the state, government, and stakeholders must protect and manage the environment to implement sustainable development. The Ghanaian environment can support Ghanaians in line with implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). SDGs have since 2015 become the regulating framework driving global development discussions. This paper examines the nexus between environmental law enforcement and implementing SDGs in Ghana. The researchers adopted a complete interpretative document analysis for this study, which showed the careful but rigorous investigation of environmental law enforcement and SDGs. This technique confirmed the genuineness of the information studied and interpreted in the study. The study found that environmental law enforcement and the implementation of SDGs in Ghana are directly linked. Thus, the regulation aligns with the goals of 6, 7, 12, 13, 14, and 15 of the SDGs directly associated with environmental sustainability. Also, environmental law enforcement in Ghana through the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) concerning Environmental Protection and Management is protective and suppressive. This study further unravels that a supervisory outline is mandatory to enable sustainable development within Ghana’s environmental protection and law enforcement issues and to guarantee its alignment with SDGs. This should be established based on the participation of stakeholders. As a result, the researchers recommend that the government establish strong management and accountability in sustainable development by measuring, supervising, revising, and evaluating their growth towards meeting SDGs in environmental issues geared towards achieving SDG targets and frequently communicating their development to the public.

This paper analyzes the state of Internet penetration across the developing world. We examine a variety of socioeconomic, human capital, and media and technology-related measures as they relate to Internet adoption. Results demonstrate that the Internet is not only dependent on economic variables such as spendable income, costs and poverty, but also education, literacy, share of urban population; population growth, and old and new telecommunication measures such as telephone subscriptions, broadband subscriptions and related costs, computer and mobile phone ownership, number of telecommunication secured lines and bits generated, trade matters such as communication services exports, and political environment issues such as political and democratic openness, economic freedom, and freedom of the press. Contrary to earlier research, gdpand English language are not statistically significant variables. Our findings on telecommunication industry competition and literacy run contrary to many earlier studies that find these variables to be unrelated to the Internet.

Abstract:
The article deals with the interpretation of the concepts of competitive advantages, competitiveness, competitive potential, competitive sustainability, sustainability risk and sustainable enterprise development. The author's vision of categorical apparatus is based on the generalization of existing viewpoints and approaches to their definition. According to the author's point of view, the competitive advantages are the collection of some strong prevailing characteristics of the company that clearly distinguish it from the competitors, providing further development through the production of high quality products and satisfying the growing needs of the consumers. Enterprises must activate the work in direction of optimal use of present resources, take into account internal development possibilities, quickly adapt to the changes of environment. Especially important is the attention of the enterprises focusing on components of the competitive potential (economic, financial, innovation, intellectual, marketing, communication, information, production etc.) which should be examined to determine possible measures of further development. Competitive sustainability is an integral part of ensuring economic security of the enterprise. Economic security reflects the ability of the enterprise to ensure sustainable development, both in the current period and in the future, under the influence of negative factors of external and internal environment. Most business decisions are made under conditions of uncertainty and risk, due to insufficient information, high intensity of rivalry, changeable environment. It is necessary to identify and estimate risks in order to minimize their influence on the activity of the enterprise. Competitive sustainability and sustainability risk provide sustainable enterprise development, the ability to carry out economic activities in conditions of uncertainty of external environment impacts, creating conditions for long-term stable functioning of the enterprise in a competitive market environment.

Abstract:
In the contexts of global economy and the increasing necessity for sustainable development of the business connections all over the world, the relations between the partners often involves not only the foreign language communication but also the dialogue between their cultures. International economic activity takes place in a set of business environments (business arrangements, timelines, quality output, sales, cash flows) which are also largely determined by additional cultural business conditions (culture as communication, attitude towards power, organizational hierarchy, interpersonal relations, etc.). In this sense, intercultural dialogue is a particularly important tool for achieving excellence and sustainable business relations between economic partners from different countries. In this paper, we suggest that intercultural dialogue in the international business environment is an indispensable tool for achieving economic effectiveness and goals, and can be assessed on the same scale as business performance. In order to identify the need of awareness-raising concerning the importance of intercultural dialogue as a business environment facilitator, a survey regarding the sewing industry in southwestern Bulgaria was conducted. The survey involved 16 small enterprises (participating with professionals from four different positions) working with firms from Greece. The evaluation of the business relations was actualized at two levels: the level of assessing the ability of professional communication and the level of assessing the ability of intercultural dialogue. Following the results obtained, the authors suggest a more active inclusion of intercultural dialogue in business practices and in negotiation. This recommendation fully corresponds to the Global goals of sustainable development because it contributes to the improvement of global partnership.

AbstractThe complexity of development and social change and growing tensions between dominant results-based and emerging learning and improvement-based approaches to evaluating development interventions have created major challenges for the evaluation of communication for development (C4D). Drawing on our recent research, we identify significant tensions, challenges and issues in evaluating C4D. They include contextual and institutional challenges, problems with attribution and unrealistic timeframes, a lack of capacities in both evaluation and C4D, and a lack of appreciation, funding and support for approaches that are more appropriate for the evaluation of C4D.We propose various strategies that can help to address these challenges and issues, including using a rigorous mixed methods approach, and implementing long-term, holistic evaluation capacity development at all levels and our new framework for evaluating C4D. These and other strategies can help to create a supportive environment in which new ideas and approaches can flourish, more sustainable outcomes of C4D can be achieved, and C4D organisations can become more sustainable and effective. The implications for C4D policy are considered.

Glamping, with its pursuit of connection with nature and focus on refinement, inspires the dissemination of glamping scenes—A tourism phenomenon that has received little attention in the literature despite its popularity with travelers. This study views the aesthetics of atmosphere theory as a breakthrough, analyzing user-generated content and in-depth interviews to identify three dimensions—physical environment, situation, and context—that are complementary developments of the aesthetics of atmosphere theory. After clarifying the characteristics of the construction of glamping scenes, we further explore the path of sustainable development of glamping from online to offline communication through the Stimulus-Organism-Response (SOR) framework. The results of grounded theory are used as stimulus and organism factors in the communication path and travel experience-sharing behavior and word-of-mouth recommendations are used as response factors. Research has revealed that physical environments and situational interactions play a decisive role in contextual perception and that unique organismic perception helps campers to respond positively to shared communication. The exploration of communication paths integrates atmospheric aesthetics theory and the SOR framework, contributing to the development of theory as well as suggesting ideas and references for the sustainable communication of glamping practices.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is twofold: first, it aims at the identification and assessment of the commitments towards sustainable development (SD) communicated to all interested parties (stakeholders) by top management; and second, mapping the profile of the organisations which prominently communicate those commitments. Design/methodology/approach The research methodology was supported on the content analysis of the organisations’ statements (disclosed on the institutional website) that sustain the strategy and policies (organisational culture). A total of 540 certified Portuguese organisations in Quality, Environment and Occupational Health and Safety (QEOHS) comprised the sample. Findings According to this research, it is possible to identify three main commitments towards SD addressing customers (consumers), human resources (employees) and continuous improvement. Furthermore, results suggest that commitments towards customers and human resources fit properly into the theoretical assumptions of the stakeholder theory and, in turn, the commitment towards continuous improvement fits accurately into the assumptions of the “normative isomorphism” of the institutional theory. Moreover, the results pointed out the characteristics of Portuguese organisations (QEOHS) that prominently communicate commitments towards SD: large business volume, located in Lisbon or Setubal, fall within the public business sector, are members of the BCSD Portugal and publish annual reports on the institutional website. Research limitations/implications Solely organisations operating in Portugal and simultaneously encompassing three certified management subsystems (against the clauses of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 standards) were considered throughout this study. So it is not possible to ascertain at which extent the conclusions are valid. However, although the statistical generalisation of the results may be precluded, there is not any peculiar reason preventing the analytical generalisation, namely, in organisations operating in countries with similar macro-characteristics of Portugal. Originality/value To the best of authors’ knowledge this is the first time that such a comprehensive, detailed and thorough analysis of the communicated commitments towards SD is carried out regardless the activity sector. The conclusions from this paper are useful both for practitioners and scholars. On one hand companies have now information on the more often communicated statements, while on the other hand academics and scholars will benefit from this research and hopefully be able to replicate it in other contexts.

Sustainability-related communication involving youth and children continues to be difficult to practice effectively and sustainably. This study examines how effective a particular approach to sustainability communication is at raising children’s environmental awareness through an educational program. Participatory action research and storytelling as a narrative paradigm were used to examine the effectiveness of bio-based experiential learning. A total of 74 students (ages 9 to 11) from Bandung, Indonesia, participated in the program. Twenty parents also participated in providing feedback for the campaign on how to change their children’s behavior towards the environment. The outcome demonstrates that the communication approach of bio-based experiential learning activities provides children with valuable education. The children are taught about urban farming, environmental awareness, and social responsibility. In the long run, it is hoped that children will be motivated to start an environmentally friendly business, particularly in biotechnology for the environment, to foster a sustainable city.

Abstract:
Over the past two decades, Morocco has been able to develop a political and strategic vision which has gradually considered the environment as a prerequisite for any public policies. The new approach aims to make the environment the cornerstone of sustainable development, and therefore, ultimately, of the birth of a new "green and inclusive" economy. This vision benefits from an exceptional impetus from His Majesty the King Mohammed VI. Morocco has therefore put in place a national environmental and sustainable development policy which breaks down into several priority areas, namely: strengthening the legal and institutional framework; environmental upgrading through programs dedicated to the preservation of the environment and providing financial instruments and systems in the service of environmental monitoring. In addition, Morocco, with its strategic north-south status, is actively engaged in the environmental diplomacy and multilateral cooperation. On the road to an integrated and sustainable human development, Morocco continues to deploy ambitious efforts in environmental communication, awareness and education. Based on the bidimensional classic model, Morocco has therefore developed a tridimensional/pyramidal model for the sustainable development. This, by integrating governance in the summit, and putting human being at the center of the new form, as an actor and a beneficiary at the same time. This manuscript presents an overview of the Moroccan model in all aspects of preserving the environment and establishing the second generation of the sustainable development.

Abstract:
In this study, the attention is focused on the essence of integrated living visual communication design. It contains plant and biological components that cause the design system transformation and ensure dynamic visualization of the images. The methodological concept of the study is based on systematic and interdisciplinary approaches, which allow to assess living visual communications as integrated design systems. The author’s methodology includes analysis and systematization of examples; the formation of the integrated design model is based on an associative-metaphorical approach and substantiation of development strategies of ecological visual communications. The study resulted in the development of two groups of visual communication systems, namely green visual communications and biological visual communications. Their visual language was created on the base of such processes as landscaping, facing, encapsulation, energy recovery, and self-organization. The developed model of integrated design of living visual communications allows to put together artificial and natural components using their associative similarities. This model is considered an instrument for decision-making that is aimed at the implementation of ecological innovations into the design of dynamic visual communications. This study broadens the possibilities of using the living organisms in design and substantiating eco-strategies of communication design development in the context of forming designers’ creative potential.

The report reveals the contribution of two international UNESCO/ UNITWIN Chair’s peer-reviewed journals – “Discourse and Communication for Sustainable Education” (DCSE) and “Journal of Teacher Education for Sustainability” (JTEFS) to sustainable development of Latgale. They are international, cross-disciplinary, scholarly and open access journals focusing on diverse aspects of environmental, cultural, economic and social sustainability thus enabling one to constructively and creatively address present and future global challenges in creating more sustainable and resilient societies. Both journals aim to respond to the priorities set by the United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development and the Global Action Programme as implemented in LATGALE and in the partner countries. The study reflects on the thematic scope of the two journals that centres on reorienting education towards the goal of sustainable education and sustainable community in Latgale, Latvia, Europe and beyond. In order to respond to the challenges of global community that we are facing today, the research published in both journals suggests how education can contribute to overcoming the current crises in education and community, as well as offers strategies and ways of dealing with it sustainably and responsibly in Latgale. Education for sustainable development (ESD) includes more than knowledge related to the environment, economy, culture and society. It also addresses learning perspectives, strategies and values that guide and motivate people to seek sustainable livelihoods, participate in a democratic society and live in a sustainable manner. ESD also involves studying both local and global issues. The research offers the study of JTEFS contribution to meeting different views, ideas and research to promote further development of studies and practice of teacher education in all areas of formal and non-formal education in relation to sustainability. DCSE is an international, peer-reviewed journal that provides a platform for examination of policies, theories and practices related to the discourse and communication for sustainable education. Since contemporary discourse study has extended its field to the study of multifaceted contexts of discourse, it integrates a broader study of the phenomena of communication in relation to sustainable education. The diversity of the journal is apparent in the variety of its theories, methods and approaches, thus avoiding the frequent limitation to one school, approach or academic branch.

Abstract As a part of a marginalized and vulnerable group, global older adult and environmental change bring together two key policy challenges that must be addressed to ensure a sustainable future. In terms of the communication perspective of sustainable development goals, communication performance should address environmental factors for the effectiveness of successful aging. The success of the communication strategies and attitudes scale in two previous studies was applied in the current study. This study applied a survey to assisted-specific living communities with the 71 items of communication scale for older adults. The result showed that older adults’ communication strategies and attitudes scale has high validity and reliability. Several items of communication strategies and attitudes were modified based on the local context of a specific region in Indonesia. This study concluded that an Indonesian version of the greener communication self-assessment scale of older adults (Indonesian-Greener CSOA) could be developed for more local contexts in specific regions of Indonesia, including the integration with the model that applied a greener communication perspective. The existing greener communication perspective could make a better understanding of the interaction between global aging and the environment to prevent and minimize disproportionate negative impacts on older people.

Abstract:
Business sustainability hinges on authorities’ action, cooperation and willingness to protect nature and natural resources, but they also have to meet the economic needs and cultivate the economic opportunities, whilst also satisfying the social needs and building a fair relationship among the different social groups. One of the ways to develop a sustainable business is integrated marketing communications. When using integrated marketing communications, businesses – notably food producers and retailers – need to focus on the education of consumers, the ecological performance and impact of products on the environment and human health, thus contributing to a sustainable development of Latvia’s economy overall. The aim of the research is to evaluate the prospects of development of Latvian food retail chains through the use of integrated marketing communication tools for sustainable business. The following scientific research methods are used in the research study: analytical, comparative, graphical, statistical, observatory and interrogative. The research focuses on the Latvian food retail sector, the subject being Latvian food retail chains, with leading specialists from all Latvian food retail chains surveyed. The research confirmed the hypothesis of the positive influence of the use of IMC tools for sustainability upon demand at Latvian food retail chains, its contribution to the formation of public opinion on the importance of preservation of the environment, the enhancement of consumer awareness, the promotion of corporate social responsibility for consumer health, ecological products overall, and the role and contribution of a green economy to a sustainable development of the national economy as a whole. The author has defined IMC for sustainability, developed and classified IMC tools for sustainability, and drawn up an IMC model for sustainability. The results of the research are of both theoretical and practical value.

Abstract:
The challenges brought by the COVID-19 pandemic and the changes in the globalized market significantly affect the way business is conducted. The modern business environment is characterized by the fourth industrial revolution - Industry 4.0. The role of technology is increasing, and the pandemic accelerated the application of information-communication technologies and the need for sustainable development and sustainable business. These changes and the global economic challenges point towards entrepreneurship as an important driver of technology development, innovation, and overall economic growth. Entrepreneurship and youth entrepreneurship can positively affect economic development. It reduces unemployment rates, increases the standard of living, and supports economic growth. In this paper, a youth entrepreneurship model for sustainable business growth is developed. The goal was to identify influencing factors on youth entrepreneurship development and sustainable business. The research approach included a thorough analysis of available data and analysis of the existing body of literature in the domain of entrepreneurship, youth entrepreneurship, sustainable development, Industry, and Industry 5.0. The findings indicate that youth entrepreneurship is influenced by a wide array of factors, most notably age, close social environment, attitudes, and awareness of incentive means. Furthermore, the developed model provides a significant insight into what major factors and sub-factors can affect youth entrepreneurship and sustainable business. It can be concluded that entrepreneurial education, a stimulating environment, and an entrepreneurial economy can significantly influence youth entrepreneurship and sustainable business growth. These findings are important for government policies and strategies when it comes to youth entrepreneurship and sustainable business growth.

Abstract The development of tourism to increase the regional economy sometimes becomes a source of environmental damages. The problem that is addressed in this paper is: how can tourism development support the sustainable environment policy and at the same time increase the economy. This study aims to analyze how the values of sustainable environment and economic development are represented and discussed in the tourism policy of Geopark Karangsambung-Karangbolong (GKK), Kebumen, Central Java, Indonesia. This study employs a quantitative approach with Discourse Network Analysis as the main technique. The data is taken from the news stories published on the geopark.kebumenkab.go.id before the Covid-19 pandemic (January 2019 – March 15, 2020) and during the pandemic (March 16, 2020 – June 30, 2021). The unit of analysis is words or phrases in the news story which represent: (1) discourses on preserving the healthy environment; (2) discourses on improving the economic welfare and reducing poverty; and (3) network of actors related to the discourse. This study finds that the communication of GKK sustainable environment policy contains discourses on sustainable tourism, affirmative actions to poverty reduction in the region, and the involvement of the pentahelix elements.

Abstract:
Digitalization has become a significant trend in the development of modern humanity. The pandemic has accelerated the digitalization of most countries. They contribute to the development of new practices, open up new opportunities for communication. They also require certain skills and competencies, education. But digital environment affects people in different ways. It creates new problems and restrictions, increases risks, including increasing social inequalities. It can expand access to information, include a person in the global space, but it can also limit the world to the diagonal of a digital device. It is important to understand how the population is ready for these changes, what real opportunities it has. The digital environment is emerging in modern cities, where inclusion in it is faster. Ahead are megacities, industrial and administrative centers. But almost two thirds of the cities are small towns, where one fourth of the population of Russia lives. What are the opportunities for digitalization for the population of small towns, what are the restrictions for residents to be included in the digital space. The purpose of our study is to assess the state of digital competence of the population of small towns in the Russian Federation on the basis of their self-assessment of their readiness to function in a digital environment. The empirical basis of the study was the results of a survey conducted among the urban population of the Vologda region on a representative sample with quotas by gender and age. The study showed that there are problems in the development of the necessary competencies by residents of small towns to use the digital space.

Abstract:
This article highlights the dynamics of geothermal energy in the Kamojang nature reserve in Indonesia. A nature reserve is a conservation area that must be protected and preserved, because it has unique flora and fauna, and rare ecosystems whose existence is threatened with extinction. After going through a long study process by an integrated team, the government finally made a policy to change the function of the nature reserve into a Nature Tourism Park. Changes in policy changes to the function of nature reserves cause pros and cons in the community, and cause conflicts between government and environmental activists. The purpose of this study is to identify the factors that cause changes in the function of nature reserves into natural tourism parks in the Kamojang conservation area of Indonesia, as well as to identify appropriate communication models in the management of geothermal energy through communication and environmentally sustainable approaches. Research findings show that the factors that cause changes in the function of nature reserves into tourist parks include; the interests of geothermal energy to meet national energy needs and electricity infrastructure, accommodate the needs of surrounding communities that utilize water resources in conservation areas, and restore ecosystems. The communication model for geothermal energy management that we propose at the same time is also a novelty namely; ecopopulism approach, negotiation approach, collaboration, and equating meaning and orientation to environmental sustainability. Abstract Globalization changes our world too quick and regions cannot keep up. Copying mechanisms affect crafted products and architecture and create specific signs for each region. Understanding that, we can follow cultural concepts and transform them to fit the current era and sustain local identity within communities. Compared with evolution, community attachment as part of social sustainability has the same self-regulated mechanisms. The adaptation process can be achieved in different ways, but only few are truly sustainable. To restore the sense of community and reconnect local people to their village at a deeper level, the participatory approach was tested. The process and tools well known from urban areas were applied in certain Slovak villages. As compared to participation in cities, in the rural environment, the process is more time-consuming. In theory, this should bring a result that lasts longer than that achieved by standard processes. Methods proposed by us will have several outcomes like networking, open communication and, if successful, can be an inspiration for other villages and activists to adopt the approach. This time-demanding activity can help to support local people and show them how to coordinate themselves in the decision-making process. The bottom-up approach increases self-esteem and by place-making, small public intervention can help with communication with local municipalities. In this process, the designer acts as a facilitator of a multidisciplinary innovation project and must use own creativity to handle many challenges.

Abstract A radical shift in pedagogy is necessary for information and communication technology (ICT) to enhance teaching and learning for sustainability. Climate change takes an inter/crossdisciplinary approach attempting to synthesise diverse ideas and observations concerning global warming. This paper deals with the integration of climate change across the school curriculum through a web-based hypermedia application entitled ICT-enabled integration of climate change education (CCE) that is used as a resource for the EU-funded project ICT-enabled education for sustainable development (ESD). The web-based environment includes interactive activities and supportive material on climate change and is open to all the six forms at the primary school level. The methodological approach used merges ICT, ESD, critical pedagogy and CCE principles and practices. Drupal (content management system) was chosen as the back-end system of our hypermedia learning environment. The main learning content is composed of learning objects (LOs) created through the authoring tool Adobe Flash. The combination of Drupal and Flash provides a dynamic and adaptable learning environment. Through this web-based learning environment that integrates six thematic areas supported by various ICT tools, learners are expected to gain insight into how climate change is altering the planet, potential impacts on the future, and how they can intervene to address its effects.

Abstract:
Higher education is incorporating Information and Communication Technology (ICT) at a fast rate for different purposes. Scientific papers include within the concept of Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) the myriad applications of information and communication technology, e-resources, and pedagogical approaches to the development of education. TEL’s specific application to higher education is especially relevant for countries under rapid development for providing quick and sustainable access to quality education (UN sustainable development goal 4). This paper presents the research results of an online pedagogical experience in collaborative academic research for analyzing good practice in TEL-supported higher education development. The results are obtained through a pilot implementation providing curated data on TEL competency’s development of faculty skills and analysis of developing sustainable higher education degrees through TEL cooperation, for capacity building. Given the increased volume and complexity of the knowledge to be delivered, and the exponential growth of the need for skilled workers in emerging economies, online training is the most effective way of delivering a sustainable higher education. The results of the PETRA Erasmus+ capacity-building project provides evidence of a successful implementation of a TEL-supported methodology for collaborative faculty development focused on future online degrees built collaboratively and applied locally.

Abstract:
This intellectual piece aims to repurpose African teachers for the achievement of Standard Development Goals (SDG) 2030 target through online global trends. To achieve this, a qualitative review method was adopted to gain insight to previous studies that have established the positive impact of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) skills and competencies in teaching and learning processes. The findings show that many African teachers need to be adequately equipped with ICT skills as captured in the UNESCO framework. The study, therefore, concludes that teachers are inevitably becoming reskilled and reequipped with a virtual learning-based framework so that the SDG 4 can be achieved. Hence, the virtual learning space model with potential to equip teachers with necessary and requisite skills and competencies was developed and recommended. This will enable teachers to transit into an online teaching environment, where the teaching and learning processes are sustained without being hampered by any future unprecedented circumstances. Keywords: African teacher, COVID-19, ICT-CFT, online global trends, sustainable development.
