Abstract:
We consider the combinations of the periphrastic nature of “wolf’s sun”, “wolf’s sunshine”, “sun of wolves”, “sun of wolf”, which are used to name the night time image in the titles of the television shows and poetic texts. We establish that periphrases for naming the moon are used in order to interest readers, listeners, viewers; to avoid tautology; to inform (clarify or notify additional knowledge about the time of day), to characterize the moon and focus on certain signs of the time of day, to reflect objectively the author’s emotional and subjective assessment of the text. We reveal that the analyzed artionymic units occur as a result of the creative individual process of artionymization - the transition of common nouns into the category of proper noun - artionym. The names of the moon by means of paroemias “wolf’s sun”, “wolf’s sunshine”, “sun of wolves”, “sun of wolf” reflect both positive and negative connotation. If the “wolf’s sun” symbolizes lovers time, the night luminary characterizes by positive semantics, as evidenced by the diminutive form “sunshine” in the paroemia “wolf’s sunshine”. If there is a night-time theft or the girls do “night affairs”, the image of the moon takes on a negative characteristic. We note that in the Chinese linguistic study, periphrasis is not considered as a separate lexical and stylistic category, which makes it very difficult to translate Russian paroemias into Chinese.

Abstract:
Sun Yat-sen was a pioneer in the early dissemination of socialist thought in China. At the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China, Sun Yat-sen introduced the popular socialist schools through speeches, among which there is no lack of marxism. In the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China, Sun Yat-sen's spreading socialist thought had four characteristics: first, Sun Yat-sen was good at integrating Chinese traditional culture with socialist thought; Second, Sun Yat-sen was good at combining foreign situations to interpret the necessity of socialism in China; Third, Sun Yat-sen was good at using others' theories to expound his own socialist views. Fourth, Sun Yat-sen was good at using his political reputation and media volume to spread socialism. Sun Yat-sen pioneered the spread of socialism in China, and some of his propositions and views also provide reference for future generations.

LIM, Chae-Woo. "A Historical Research on the Character Evaluation of Yi Sun-sin by Go Sang-an(高尙顔): Focusing on Physiognomy and Epidemic." Tae Dong Institute of classic research 51 (December 31, 2023): 367–406. http://dx.doi.org/10.31408/tdicr.2023.51.367.

Full text
Abstract:
Yi Sun-sin is a national hero who defeated Japanese invasions (Imjin War) and a globally renowned great commander. Recently, there have been various issues raised in our society regarding the standard portrait of Yi Sun-sin. In our academic community, the issue of Yi Sun-sin's appearance has been discussed in connection with the portrait of Admiral Yi Sun-sin. However, there are records from the Joseon Dynasty that describe the appearance of Admiral Yi Sun-sin, but they contain conflicting information. Therefore, the question of how to represent the appearance of Admiral Yi Sun-sin in the future is a significant challenge. In this study, in this very context, we have compiled and compared records that mention Admiral Yi Sun-sin's appearance and have examined them in comparison with existing portraits, attempting to estimate Admiral Yi Sun-sin's appearance. Including Ryu Seong-ryong (柳成龍), figures like Kim Eung-nam, Yun Hyu, Hong Woo-won, Choi Yoo-hae, Kwak Yeol, and others recorded Admiral Yi Sun-sin as a courageous commander who possessed both literary and martial virtues. In contrast, Go Sang-an pointed out that Admiral Yi Sun-sin had shrunken lips and an appearance lacking plumpness, giving an unfortunate impression. Unlike other records, Go Sang-an specifically pointed out the shortcomings in Admiral Yi Sun-sin's lips and appearance, which also led some to consider it as a possible representation of Admiral Yi Sun-sin's actual appearance. In this context, this study focused on Go Sang-an's records regarding Admiral Yi Sun-sin's appearance and compared them with other records, analyzing the physiognomic significance contained in his mentions. To do so, a comparison was made with current portraits of Admiral Yi Sun-sin and his descendants. As a result, it became evident that the mention of Go Sang-an did not reveal the actual appearance of Admiral Yi Sun-sin but rather connected it to the sudden death of Admiral Yi Sun-sin in later years, expressing it through physiognomy. Furthermore, based on records regarding Admiral Yi Sun-sin's health status at that time, it was confirmed that the meaning behind Go Sang-an's character evaluation was not about flaws in Admiral Yi Sun-sin's appearance but rather that Go Sang-an made his observations and recordings during a period when Admiral Yi Sun-sin was extremely exhausted from warfare and suffered from typhoid fever, indicating very poor health. Therefore, Go Sang-an's mention should be correctly understood as an assessment made after observing Admiral Yi Sun-sin in a unique state of severe illness, later using physiognomy to describe his shrunken lips, emaciated appearance, and assessed him as having a short life and unfortunate appearance. In conclusion, the author believes that the mentions of Go Sang-an should be seen as providing evidence of Admiral Yi Sun-sin's dedication to defending the country and his deep concerns and anxiety, even as he neglected his health, and considers this interpretation to be valid.

Abstract:
Between the 1960s and 2010s, yoga became a familiar feature of American culture, including its Christian subcultures. This article examines Christian yoga and public-school yoga as windows onto the fraught relationship between Christianity and culture. Yoga is a flashpoint for divisions among Christians and between them and others. Some evangelicals and pentecostals view yoga as idolatry or an opening to demonic spirits; others fill gaps in Christian practice by using linguistic substitution to Christianize yoga. In 2013, evangelical parents in California sued the Encinitas Union School District (EUSD) for promoting Hinduism through Ashtanga yoga.Sedlock v. Baird'sfailure to dislodge yoga exposes tensions in Christian anti-yoga and pro-yoga positions that stem from a belief-centered understanding of religion, the dissatisfaction of many Americans with Protestant dominance in cultural institutions, and a broad-based pursuit of moral cultivation through yoga spirituality. I argue that, although many evangelicals feel like an embattled minority, they are complicit in cultural movements that marginalize them. Naïveté about how practices can change beliefs may undercut Christian doctrines, facilitate mandatory yoga and mindfulness meditation in which public-school children and teachers are required to participate, and impede evangelistic goals by implicating Christians in cultural appropriation and cultural imperialism.

Abstract:
Based on the formation of China’s historical political culture, it is considered that it has unique national values compared to other countries. China’s cultural and political ideologies are based on the idea of loyalty to historical heritage and traditions, and it is necessary to promote nationalism and identity by preserving ideological and humanitarian principles from the influence of globalization. For millennia, the Chinesenation has gone through periods of rejection of social traditions and modernity and acceptance as a necessary condition for the nation’s development. At the beginning of the 20th century, the influence of the Western model of development and the model of modernization entered, but from the end of the 20th century, the national path of development was revived and the system of national ideological values became popular.

Full text
Abstract:
“Sun Marker” is a contemporary work of art and science located at an archaeological site in the Southwestern United States. Its origins come from the study of Ancestral Puebloan culture and life-ways and its creation was influenced by the architecture, traditions and observational methods of these prehistoric people, relating celestial movements of Sun, Moon and stars to calendar-keeping. The artist, Joe Pachak, designed “Sun Marker” so that it demonstrated natural light-and-shadow interactions with symbolic rock art images at the times of equinoxes and summer and winter solstices. In doing so, it became apparent that this modern-day piece of art could be used as a tangible laboratory to study light-shadow-icon events of the types being reported as having possibly been created hundreds of years ago. Having noticed interesting events of the types “discovered” by researchers, but not planned by Pachak, the authors joined the artist in a 15-year exploration of his “split boulder-representational” device. Our most important discovery is that completely unintended features, similar to ones passionately reported by researchers, were just as interesting as those carefully engineered into the sculpture. This work resulted in the formulation of vital research questions along with eight criteria offered here for more rigorous field research, with the hope that they might help guide cultural astronomy along the pathway toward becoming a scientifically mature discipline.
