Abstract:
THE ARCHIVES THAT HIDE THE DOCUMENTS of the second half twentieth century contain, in large part, lies. The stories that emerge from the depths of the archives describe a world of apocalyptic fantasy. There is no real situation behind most of the archival documents; they are just texts. The testimonies, confessions in most cases, are repetitions of suggested texts, while the suggestions sometimes are themselves but citations of other tainted, verbally suggested works of fiction. These documents do not describe a state of affairs independent of themselves; they create the world they supposedly describe. But the self-referential nature of the documents based on suggestions helps to decipher a world that was firmly based on lies, fearful fantasies, and sheer propaganda. In lies there lies the truth. The images of and imaginations about Cardinal Jóózsef Mindszenty's show trial in Hungary at the end of the 1940s played a crucial role in unleashing the wildest possible mutual speculations about the superhuman capabilities of the enemy on the opposing sides of the Cold War. The case triggered not just presumptions but frantic and fantastic experimentation on both sides. The suppositions and counterassumptions; the mutual fear and efforts at mutual deterrence; and the imagined words that were presumably capable of ''doing things'' all solidified the post-World War II construct, which was in turn experienced as solid and tangible reality. There was a subterranean dialogue between the two sides divided by the Iron Curtain, and the tools of communication between them were credible lies and wild fantasy with direct and fateful consequences. This paper——impatiently, but in minute detail——tries to follow the genesis and fate of a few suggested utterances. It is an effort to reconstruct the scene of the suggestion, arguing that it is not possible to understand its meaning and complexity if the analysis is detached from the scene of the event. In delineating a context for post-Word War II representations and misrepresentations of truth——through a maze of interconnected stories that lead from one side of the Atlantic to the other——history itself becomes the object of the essay's ethnographic analysis.

Abstract:
Using a semiotic approach, this paper seeks to identify the connections between Iran’s Green Movement, the Arab Spring, and the Occupy Movement. The concept of suggestion refers to the unintended releasing of possibilities for action beyond the original frames a movement. This is done through the production of new slogans and collective actions relating to them. Once ‘suggestion’ allows for a specific mode of acting to be taken outside of its original ambit and into a new context, action is ‘translated’ into the ‘language’ of new contexts and mandates. ‘Suggestion’ and ‘translation’ can lead to the ‘transposition’ of a specific collective action into a new context that captures the imagination of the activists. By drawing on the evidence and instances in the Green Movement, the Arab Spring, and the Occupy Movement, it is hoped, we can understand how movements affect each other beyond their actors’ intentions.

Abstract:
Hypnosis, Suggestion, Seduction This paper deals with the close relationships between the 3 concepts. Historically, hypnosis is the oldest one. It appeared with Mesmer's magnetism that later became somnambulism according Puysegur's conceptions. At the end of XIXth century, hypnosis has been used by Charcot for diagnosing hysteria and by Bernheim for curing psychosomatic troubles. The word was replaced by suggestion, when Bernheim quoted the process as purely psychological. Freud after his staying in Nancy (1889) was strucked by Bernheim's experiences and put emphasis on transference and unconscious. At the same time he proposed his theory on «seduction» that he later abandonned. However the concept remains of great value, whenever suggestion in psychoanalysis remains at work.

Abstract:
Performance anxiety is an agonizing feeling. Fear of being judged is most often felt before public performances, especially when we are afraid of being embarrassed in front of others. The tingling excitement of subdued stage fright can be performance-enhancing, but if the pressure is too much, it can also have a negative impact on our physical and emotional well-being. Suggestive communication can be a good way of hiding stress symptoms and reducing stage fright; it can also significantly reduce anxiety, fear and bad feelings related to embarrassing situations, whether experienced by ourselves or others.

Abstract:
The article addresses the issue of hearing a minor witness, with particular emphasis on the possible impact of the suggestion on the content of the children’s reports. The main scope of this publication will be to indicate what a suggestion and assessment are and whether minors are in fact, according to the common belief, more susceptible to suggestions than adults. Moreover, the issue of verifying the possible impact of the suggestion on the content of children’s statements will be addressed, which will involve determining whether minors are equally susceptible to suggestion in all age groups. Finally, an attempt will be made to identify procedural and forensic guidelines that will allow interviewers to avoid the risk of more or less suggestive influence on the minor witness, enabling a credible child’s report to be delivered. All the considerations will be supported by references to literature and research, mainly U.S. – based, on the psychology of testimony, as this knowledge is essential for the effective and suggestion free hearing of a minor witness.

Abstract:
In order to improve the user search experience, Query Suggestion, a technique for generating alternative queries to Web users, has become an indispensable feature for commercial search engines. However, previous work mainly focuses on suggesting relevant queries to the original query while ignoring the diversity in the suggestions, which will potentially dissatisfy Web users' information needs. In this paper, we present a novel unified method to suggest both semantically relevant and diverse queries to Web users. The proposed approach is based on Markov random walk and hitting time analysis on the query-URL bipartite graph. It can effectively prevent semantically redundant queries from receiving a high rank, hence encouraging diversities in the results. We evaluate our method on a large commercial clickthrough dataset in terms of relevance measurement and diversity measurement. The experimental results show that our method is very effective in generating both relevant and diverse query suggestions.
