Full textSublimation, introduced by freud in psychoanalysis in the beginning of his practice, has often been assimilated by post-freudians to the final aim of analysis. It may certainly be one of its effects, but it should rather be considered as one of its conditions. Sublimation is equivalent to the operation of inconscious speech, correlative of the constitution of psychic drive. Clinically, it may be situated in relation to the subjective positions in the structure of neurosis, psychosis and perversion. Transference love is an alienation in the significant, characteristic of sublimation, but the end of analysis should be thought beyond sublimation and implies separation of the (a) object invented by lacan. It's at the place of this object, rest of the sublimation process, that the analyst should come at the end. The so-called "passe" is the solution proposed by lacan to the endless freudian analysis

Full textIt is indisputable that sport is a pervasive social phenomenon. However, each performer interpreter it and invested it in its own way. For some people it will be an educational tool, for others a way to be healthy or happy to everyday life. While it is interesting to corne to question the investment of different people who are physically active, we will limit ourselves to the most popular forms, that is to say, the various investments of children during their evolution and until such they become or not high-level athlete. We will not forget the adolescent period, important point in choosing a career of a sportsman. The investment of high-level sport has corne to mark the start of our research. We will try to show that the concept of sublimation applies perfectly. Sublimate his impulses (aggressive) would be the key to performance. This assumption would need to have a broader look. Sport is not just an individual investment. And if we have to question the notion of sublimation, we have to take into consideration all of the Freudian notion, both its instinctuel facet and its civilizational facet. Thus, from a historical, philosophical and sociological research, we will try to show that physical activities have always been a pleasure to Human but also a powerful tool to join the social body. Sport would create a collective affiliation

Full textThe potential of using TFFS to separate fullerenes from a crude extract composed of C$ sb{60}$ and C$ sb{70}$ was investigated. A 22 mm diameter TFFS column with a moving packed bed was constructed to evaluate the efficiency of the process. This column was capable of fractionally sublimating 40 mg samples of fullerenes under total reflux conditions. The heated column could be operated under inert atmosphere at low to atmospheric pressure. The effect of operating variables such as temperature, carrier gas flow rate and packed bed movement speed, was investigated. Starting from a crude extract composed of 80 wt% C$ sb{60}$ and 20 wt% C$ sb{70},$ milligram quantities of 92 wt% C$ sb{60}$ and 89 wt% C$ sb{70}$ were obtained. Also, a column height equivalent to a theoretical stage (HETS) as low as 2.5 cm/stage was achieved under certain conditions.

Bellec, Aurélien. "Étude de la sublimation partielle de mélanges énantiomériquement enrichis." Rennes 1, 2009. http://www.theses.fr/2009REN1S064.
Full textThe aim of this work is the study of the sublimation of enantiomerically enriched compounds. Different chiral organic compounds (amino acids, carboxylic acids and amide) were sublimed under reduced pressure (0. 1 mbar) and at low temperature. Mixtures are made from the appropriate weight of enantiomers (mixtures of D+L) or from the racemic and the enantiomer (mixtures of DL+L (or D)). For each compound, enrichments but also depletions in the enantiomeric excesses of partial sublimates were observed. The determination of this ee for three amino acid (alanine, leucine, proline) for various ee of the starting material led to curves showing similar data for all the ee of the sublimates of the same amino acid. To better understand the behaviour of compounds during sublimation, several experiments were conducted: with a 13C labeled amino acid and analysis by NMR spectroscopy, by the use of two sublimation apparatus, etc. The analysis of the results showed differences with the literature and current knowledge that led us to propose a new interpretation of the phenomenon, based on the intrinsic characteristics of compounds: the saturated vapour pressure of each component (DL, L ou D)

Full textClimatic data for twenty-one winters was used to construct an index in order to assess the significance of evapo-sublimation at Flagstaff, Arizona. Large intra- and inter-annual variability was noted in the record using both uncorrected monthly index values and values corrected for the relative importance of snow. 1967-68 un- corrected sublimation opportunity index (SOI) values and similar values for both 1982-1983 and 1984-1986 appear to indicate that those winters either had unusually high snowpack evapo-sublimation losses, or were years of low "basin efficiencies". Evapo-sublimation opportunity might be tracked as a climate element for high elevational snowzones which contribute significantly to a regional water supply.

This thesis proposes an investigation about the concepts of sublimation and idealization in psychoanalysis, in order to verify the hypothesis that both participate in the constitution of culture. Thus we suggest that, in the Freud s text, culture is conceived as a response to the inexorable condition of helplessness and that its constitution depends upon the renunciation of instinctual satisfaction. Although sublimation is the instinctual vicissitude that is traditionally associated with the construction of culture, we propose that idealization also participates in this process. Both sublimation and idealization comply with the instinctual renunciation required by culture, but while sublimation renounces to the initial aims of the drive through desexualization, idealization only inhibits the original aim of the instinct. Finally, we suggest that the dynamics of contemporary society allow for the hipotesis of, on one hand, a decrease in sublimatory activity and, in the other hand, an increase of idealization.

Full textAncient sublimation theories are constructed on philosophical premisses, such as separation of matter and mind or mind and body; in this dual view, sublimation was meant to be a purely cultural transformation of a "wild" prime nature. Attachment studies with animals and children contest this view by showing that positive affective relations are the key factor to intelligent, sexual and social development. Psychoanalytic libido theory seems inspired by romantic vitalism; both remind us that social adaptation can be an alienating process. However, quantitative suppression of sexuality cannot explain civilization nor personal moral growth. Sexuality is structured by biological and social factors. Paradigmatic change shows evolution as a continuous process, integrating different levels; biological self organization indicates "cognitive" aspects that preceded human consciousness. Preverbial learning and social adaptation, observed in animal groups, remain the base of further cognitive acquisitions. Morality is a result of socialization and reflective personal autonomy. Both, world and personal identity, are cognitive constructions

Full textThe aim of this research is to study the impact of death instinct on sublimation, particularly its influence on the act of artistic creation ; the fields of exploration are literature, music, plastic arts ; the method of investigation is psychoanalytical. The first part is focalized on the concept of death instinct in psychoanalytical theory, referring to sublimation (symbolized by osiris) and creation (symbolized by orpheus) ; then the "passion" suffered by the subject (the creator) during his proper act is examined : death or absence of the ego, metamorphosis, transfiguration of the creator ; one chapter in devoted to psychosis and the root of sublimation. The vanishing, the desire of nothing, can be considered as the end (termination or aim) of the creation and of the creator. Finally occurs the study of the passion inflicted by the creator to the object (the original object, the modification or the metamorphosis of products the created object - the work of art) and of its consequences : the various kinds of relief (aufhebung) after the "murder" or the normal corrosion of the object - resurrection, fictitious incarnation, transfiguration and vanishing in the nothing or in the abstraction. The example were chosen as well in ancient times (the bible, plato, the myth of helen) as in nowadays (pierre jean jouve, abstract painters)

Full textThe objective of my study is to demonstrate that sublimation is the principal aesthetic mechanism in the work of Valery Larbaud. In the first part of my work I seek to define a notion that intersects several fields of knowledge : theology, philosophy, aesthetics and psychoanalysis. This initial research enables me to make sublimation a concept with which to analyze literary texts. I will then seek to identify the sublimation characteristic of Larbaud. It emanates from a modern desire to describe, in the interior of the work, the creative act on the basis of the erotic. It results from a connection to the mother that determines the literary vocation. It can be explained also by the Catholicism of the author. These considerations give rise to new elegiac writings through which the notion of the sublime evolves in the first half of the 20th century in France

Full textDespite the potential advantages of the organic electronic devices such as flexibility and inexpensive manufacturing processes, they require improvements in terms of performance and lifetime. In this context, engineering interfaces plays an important role and doping, which allows the controlled position of the Fermi level and which has significantly contributed to the success of inorganic semiconductors, is a technique deserving to be explored. This work therefore describes the analysis of doped organic semiconductors deposited by co-sublimation in vacuum to improve the charge extraction and transport in electronic devices and more particularly in organic photovoltaic cells (OPV). The change in electrical conductivity, Seebeck coefficient and morphology is discussed for both p and n-type doping of different materials, before being used as interface layers in OPV cells. In most cases, the introduction of these interface layers has improved contact at organic / electrode interfaces and has enhanced the selectivity of the contacts which has reduced the voltage drops. State-of-the-art efficiencies could then be obtained by inserting some of these doped layers in solar cells based on P3HT: PCBM.Moreover, following the recent interest of the scientific community for organic thermoelectricity whose optimization requires the control of the doping level, these doped layers were also studied and considered to develop a prototype of a planar thermoelectric device

Full textThe main objective of this work was the study and the optimization of the freeze-drying process of ibuprofen with aqueous and/or organic based formulations. A detailed comparative study was realized at different steps of the ibuprofen freeze-drying process for both types of investigated formulations. This comparative study was realized at the succesives stages of freezing, sublimation and desorption and also concerned some properties of the final freeze-dried product (humidity, rehydratability, aspect…). We observed that the use of eutectic A mixture, corresponding to 20 % TBA + 80 % water (mass %) as co-solvent, allowed a strong increase of the solubility of ibuprofen and for the same operating conditions (Tshelf and Pc), led to an increase of drying kinetics values by a factor 1.8 by comparison to aqueous based formulations of ibuprofen. Besides, the experimental determination of equilibrium solid-vapour pressure and of sublimation enthaly values was carried out by using two different methods: the thermogravimetic method and the static method. These determinations allowed to conclude that the increase of sublimation kinetics resulted essentially from the higher equilibrium solid-vapour pressure values and from the lower sublimation enthalpy value of eutectic A by camparison to pure ice values. Next, these thermodynamical data were used as key parameters in the modelling of the sublimation stage under Comsol Multiphysics. In fine, the overall optimization of the operating parameters of sublimation stage was achieved by using the Design Space aproach. It proved that the organic based formulation led to final freeze-died cakes which fulfilled largely the main quality criteria (color, aspect, solvents residues, etc.). Thus, the development of an ibuprofen freeze-drying process with organic based formulation seems more advantageous than an aqueous based formulation process

Full textFrom the beginning of opera to the present day : four hundred years of relations, continual swings, between lyric art and literature; four hundred years during which poets, novelists, essayists, critics have tried to seize in words the art of those men and above all those women who seemed to them as being the music's most eminent and expressive, as well as the most touching soul : the singer's but still more the "cantatrice"'s art and soul. Four hundred uneven years with, in their central part, approximatively, a sudden swelling, a "crescendo" of literary interest towards those unexpected heroes and heroines from a different stage and from a different expression. Now it is this central part we have chosen as the object of our study, this short period - thirty years really, fifty years at the most - but when literary inspiration has increased and nourrished itself in a tremendous scale upon a spreading enthusiasm towards one of, perhaps, the most deeply romantic topic ever offered to a generation eager for passions, ideal and noble and highly exciting fervours : the "cantatrice" in this first half of the 19th century

Full textThe object of our research led ourself to wonder about the place of the look as such it is the object a, object cause of wish. The look instinct connected with this object a, moved ourself towards the sublimation so called by Freud. The wording of Freud : “Nothing is in the mind which wasn’t in the senses” drawned the framework. From the senses’ birth to the relation between the five senses and the object a, we developped the concept of sublimation. From this concept of sublimation, links appeared with perversion, autism, phobia through the play of differents objects which are connected to them. Then we defined the symbolism process used to settle the first traces, visualize pictures and what is about the state of creator process. We tried, through works of Leonard de Vinci and Albrecht Dürer to show where the sublimation takes part in the wishing subject’s srtructure and how the five senses’ feelings would displace themselves one compared to another and would be condensed in the look

Full textMissions of CO2 are increasing, leading to temperature increase of Earth. This led to the Kyoto Protocol which aims at the elaboration of policies of limitation of the emissions of greenhouse gases among which CO2. A large number of options exist to limit CO2 emissions associated with energy production, one of them is developed in this dissertation, the CO2 capture from flue gases. Usual techniques of CO2 capture are briefly analyzed. The major part of this work concerns the development of a new CO2 capture based on the CO2 frosting at low temperature. The CO2 frosting is performed by a refrigerating system composed of an integrated cascade, which offers evaporating temperatures lower than the CO2 frosting temperature. Several architectures are analyzed in order to choose the most energy efficient one. A prototype mock-up has been designed and realized for the validation of the global concepts of the CO2 frosting and defrosting. The components have been sized using computerized tools developed for the modeling of multi-stage integrated cascades. The system includes two low-temperature evaporators operating alternatively in frosting and defrosting modes to permit continuous system operation. The "cold" energy from defrosting is recovered by the refrigerant blend, which permits to improve the energy efficiency of the system

Full textAbandonment is viewed as a major kind of helplessness and child's rejection by parents, opening a specific and original field to rebuilding of social link. The reconstruction is centered in the second family myth and social working. Substitute family and social workers are mediators between the first family which is incestuous and violent -unable to create psychically- and the quest for a state-guaranteed social acknowledgment. Such a delegation realises a vicarious mission, the goal of which being to reconcile the family law and the city law, about a child's personalization: it is a sublimatory aim. It takes root in guilt and rivalry; but the deadly and symptomatic side of them may be perceived when vicarious action is likely to spoil. As a rule guilt and rivalry are appearing outside a therapeutic and transference settle, since they are displaying as veiled through new substitute parenthood and social organisation so as to screen their own pathologic features. Thus the matter consists of binding such an experience of vicarious action to the genesis of categories that frame and organize it in the social field. Therefore that connection deals with phenomenology and not only with clinical psychopathology. Those categories are the following: artificial parental link and public education. This collective awareness of abandonment and rebuilding of social link is typified in two shapes: firstly vicarious foster working, secondly vicarious adoptive action. The former shows a relation to state power regarding an actual kind of universality; but that sublimation most often finds out an incompleteness through its common and narcissic features with perversion. The latter reveals how the state is giving up its own power and how the adoptive family may recover the common status of basic family. So this analysis brings to light a correspondence between a process of socialization and a psychological organization. Showing sociability strata and their mutations may contribute to an anthropology of some cultural changes and enlighten the practitioner's behaviour as well as ethics

Full textConcerns: to question it inside the theory and to put it in resonance with the clinic to determine its field application and its heuristic value. Starting from its conceptual belonging to the doctrine of jouissance, this research shows how sublimation contributes to the determination of two dimensions of the psychoanalytic experience: the emergence of the subject beyond the pleasure principle and the constitution of the object below this principle. A topology of the transfer that articulates them becomes visible in the light of its conceptualization. On this axis, this research posits that the Lacanian conceptualization of sublimation questions the reduction of transference to its imaginary and narcissistic nature. With the concept of sublimation, this reduction, de-constructive of the love of transfer enunciated by Freud and theorized from the perspective of the relationship of the lover to the beloved in the Platonic banquet, is doomed to be surpassed as a necessity of discourse by courteous love. Clinical vignettes show how sublimation intervenes in a practice that aims at the conversion of jouissance to desire according to the device of the letter and structures by its action the psychoanalytical discourse. A valorization of the term of sublimation is essential in order to specify its specificity in front of others which are correlative to it like the neologism sinthome or the acceptation that Lacan gives to the term of stool. An epistemological consideration emerges from its autonomous capacity to produce knowledge within the discourse of psychoanalysis
