Abstract:
Indonesian Old Bicycle Community or Komunitas Sepeda Tua Indonesia (KOSTI) of Surabaya is a subculture consisting of old bicycle lovers in Surabaya. This qualitative study aims to clarify and strengthen the idea of Internet as a resource and media for the development of subcultures, to investigate online and offline activities of KOSTI Surabaya, and to promote further research on the diversity of subcultures like KOSTI Surabaya following the development of generation 4.0 trend. This present study can support the conceptualization of subculture in the digital era. This community helps young generations to put Indonesian important values and norms into practice through their lifestyle, such as to build a good relationship, kinship, brotherhood, to create a good harmony in life. In addition, this community becomes a media to foster and maintain our local culture. KOSTI Surabaya is the resistance against the modern culture which makes this community as counter culture against foreign culture challenges. Abstract:
In Indonesia, there are still many assumptions that people with tattoos are synonymous with criminal behavior. Seeing the stigma of criminality against tattoos in society, this is the beginning of the formation of the Indonesian Subculture community. Indonesian Subculture is one of the tattoo communities in Jakarta that has been formed since July 9, 2004. This community is slowly changing its assessment of people with tattoos. This is related to the self-presentation displayed by Indonesian Subculture in the community in fighting the stigma of tattooing as one of the characteristics of a criminal in society. Therefore, the authors are interested in conducting research with a qualitative approach and case study research methods. The purpose of this study is to determine the self-presentations presented by Indonesian Subculture in an effort to fight the stigma of crime in society. The data analyzed were the result of interviews, direct observation, and documentation. The results showed that the self-presentation shown by Indonesian Subculture in fighting the stigma of crime in society was to form a positive community concept through the slogan and vision and mission, namely always having safe and healthy tattoos / piercing, holding various positive activities. These activities include a coaching clinic, social service, tattoo and piercing competitions, as well as tattoo / piercing educational activities. Abstract:

Abstract:
This article investigated the fans’ identity among ARMY BTS Indonesia, the fandom name for BTS fans. The study aimed to explore factors driving K-Pop fanaticism in Indonesia in general and how it affected their dynamics within the society. Using a quantitative method through online surveys based on the fans-identity scale approach, the research surveyed a total of 243 fans in Indonesia using a network sampling approach. Results showed that fans were considerably proud to be recognized as BTS fans. In terms of the drives of their fanaticism, three main factors played into the role namely: the enjoyment feelings surged when listening to BTS music, the emotional connection toward BTS, and the social connection. These three factors were well correlated, reflecting the same construct. The latter incorporated the fans’ fascination toward idols’ works and their need to actively participate in online platforms. Fans’ participation in online platforms not only catered for their need to socialize with fans alike and showcase their adoration toward their idols but also being able to proudly show their identity as loyal fans.

Abstract:
There is no expression Damai Sejahtera in Kamus Besar Bahasa Indonesia. In this dictionary we can find the meaning of damai and the meaning of sejahtera. That proves that DS is not a word but a phrase. In fact DS is not difference with damai dan sejahtera. The phrase that found in the Bible (John 14, verse 27) and commonly used among Indonesian Christians get its equivalent peace in English Bible and tentrem rahayu in Javanese Bible. Peace that commonly translated damai in Indonesian si not true in Indonesian Bible. Damai Sejahtera discussed in this article got its original concept from ancient Christian society not from English. That must be the reason. Budhism use the word bahagia meaning spiritual bliss with a special meaning which is not exactly the same with that that is used among Christian. So beside its common meaning used and known by all Indonesian people, speakers of bahasa Indonesia, DS also has specific meanings among Indonesian subculture like Budhis community, Muslim community, Christian community, etc.

Abstract:
Using Bourdieusian approach, this article explores the reflexive strategies of young jazz musicians in order to develop their musical practices in a contemporary urban context of Yogyakarta, a city of culture and activism in Indonesia. In detail, the reflexive strategy (Sweetman 2003; Threadgold & Nilan 2009) will be explained as the manifestation of struggle in the field of cultural production (Bourdieu 1993). As an implication, young jazz musicians have to negotiate their musical practices with the reproduction of doxa and the representation of dominant agents in the jazz music field including the availability of public spaces in contemporary Yogyakarta. The resistance towards doxa will be explained based on the local narratives of the Yogyakarta jazz community as a mixture of the local and the trans-local scene (Bennett & Peterson 2004). Furthermore, the reflexive strategy will be analysed through the lens of the youth culture perspective specifically as a manifestation of a mixture between post-subculture (Bennett 1999) and subculture (Blackman 2005). In their everyday musical practices, young jazz musicians produce their musical practices fluidly and flexibly as a lifestyle distinction as well as a form of everyday life resistance. In summary, this article shows the complexity of the musical processes of young jazz musicians in contemporary urban space of Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

Abstract:
Acculturation today does not only occur due to direct physical interaction between two different cultural groups, but rather, it is due more to online interaction. Cultural interaction also raises the imitation of the visual aspects of popular commodities, such as films being cultural products. This study aims to explore subcultures and identity communication built and maintained in the weeaboo fandom community outside of Japan. It also analyzes the daily experiences of individuals in interacting within the community and outside of it. This study uses a qualitative phenomenological approach through detailed observation, in-depth interviews, and analysis of community interactions on social media. Because weeaboo’s scope is anime fans in various countries other than Japan, the sources and participants of this study were drawn mainly from Indonesia. The results showed that the weeaboo subculture arose between millennials and generation Z anime lovers. These cohorts began to recognize anime and form communities from childhood with those with the same habits, so similar characters and preferences emerge. Acculturation occurs in contiguity between two primary cultures where a new culture is born. In the context of anime, there is acculturation between Japanese culture (home culture) with the culture of a different country, as anime fans in the community do their routines and habits differently from the anime home country (Japan) in the host country (outside Japan). This study found that the weeaboo subculture of Indonesian Generation Z and Y is shaped by acculturation in intercultural communication such as in language, expressions, fashion, accessories, make-up, hairstyle, cuisine, group attitudes, values, and natural and cultural preferences of Japanese destinations. Based on the findings, further research can continue to analyze other aspects that are affected by the weeaboo community, such as international relations, economic aspects, and the Japanese tourism industry.

Honestly, it must be admitted that there is a certain tradition that grows and thrives in Islamic boarding school society. However, it is not a reality outside of Islamic boarding school society. Undeniably, when the outside environment begins incessant with modernization issues, the “uniqueness” in Islamic boarding school environment makes Islamic boarding school tradition more lively and interesting to be discussed. Environment Islamic boarding schools implication in modern time is less known and marginal, which slowly change to be something interesting among scientists and academics. One of its pieces of evidence is the emergence of an idea from part of the Islamic education observers with an educational modern system to present alternative education discourse. It is in line with Islamic boarding schools whose progress is identical with Islamic education that experiences a transformation along with changes of accompanying situation.

Abstract:
The subculture of urban global popular-culture youth fans is believed to be a resistance-subculture against the hegemony of dominant power. This study, however, found that the subculture given rise to by the urban, global popular-culture youth fans of ‘the Mortal Instruments’ in Indonesia is in opposition to the Neo-Gramscian thought which has become the foundation of popular-culture studies. In constructing their identity, some of the digital fandoms of global popular culture have been critical of the content of cultural texts as a form of resistance against texts produced by cultural industries. However, they have only been developing artificial forms of resistance within the system, that is, in fan sites. This study found that the urban youths joining digital fandoms are not free from the hegemony of capitalism because they have become playlabourers, engaging in free digital labour for the powers of the global culture industry. This critical attitude of urban youths, in building their digital fandom-subculture identity, is incapable of standing against the system. They even position themselves within the network of cultural-industry capitalism – identified by the Frankfurt School as the domination and superiorization of the industry power of global entertainment that is continually self-restoring.

This study analyzes about Surabaya Wotagei Community whose uniqueness is different compared to other communities in Indonesia. Surabaya Wotagei Community emerged not only due to the same preference of the members but also by its uniqueness that is rarely encountered. This study uses qualitative-descriptive method through fandom and youth subculture approaches that emerged in the community. This study shows that Surabaya Wotagei Community is part of the subcultures because they exist as a community that is anti-mainstream but also stays neutral, as in not trying to fight or oppose something. Surabaya Wotagei Community offers a form of fandom with its own unique characteristics, where its members have other ways to provide support for AKB48 or JKT48 without being obsessive and possessive. On the other hand, as a community, Surabaya Wotagei Community is indeed formed by the popular youth culture which makes this community fluid and is well-known by many circles.

Abstract:
As a culture, Kejawen Black Metal is a form of hybrid subculture made of Javanese culture of Indonesia and the Black Metal subculture that grows in Europe. As a music, Kejawen Black Metal is Black Metal subgenre that its practices incorporates Javanese mystical concepts whose existence is believed to be true in Javanese culture. Seeing the hybridity of its existence, this subculture does not necessarily take and copy all concepts exist in its root culture. Therefore, this study aims to find and explain what actually Kejawen Black Metal’s essence and tendency is as a hybrid subculture. Through Roland Barthes' semiotics, Kejawen Black Metal is seen as a symbol whose meaning stands as it should be, but also standing independently to form different values based on particular context. The study uses a descriptive-qualitative method with extracted data based on indirect documentation that has been successfully carried out by other parties. The result, it is clear that in essence, Kejawen Black Metal remains a struggle but against something different from its root subculture. Therefore, in the context of tendency, Kejawen Black Metal symbolizes freedom that intends to remind people about the Javanese culture but in different ways and concepts in their nature.

Abstract:
Phalaenopsis is of high economic value and market demand in Indonesia; however, orchid products are mostly imported from other countries. ‘Kristina Dwi’ (KD) 69.274 and ‘Dedeh’ (D) 802.28 are two selected clones with high potential utilized and developed commercially. To support their commercialization, a reliable in vitro propagation protocol is essential. In the current study, an in vitro mass propagation protocol for KD 69.274 and D 802.28 clones was successfully established using shoot tips as explant sources. A high number of embryos, up to 8.2 embryos per explant, with 58.5% explant regeneration, and 3.5 regenerated-explants in average were regenerated from shoot tips of KD 69.274 clone cultured on half-strength Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium, with full strength micro, Fe-chellate and vitamin containing 0.5 mg/L thidiazuruon (TDZ) and 0.25 mg/L N6-benzyladenine (BA). The initial embryos were proliferated by culturing embryos individually on half-strength MS medium with 0.13 mg/L TDZ and 0.25 mg/L BA and resulted in high embryo regeneration up to 91.4%, with 10.2 embryos per explant and no embryo browning. The embryos were multiplied under periodical subcultures of 3 months each, resulting in gradual increasing number of embryos from the first subculture till the fifth subculture, with 23.6 embryos produced, then declined afterward. The embryos were easily germinated on half-strength MS medium with full strength of vitamin and hormone free, with 73.9% embryo germination and 14.9 germinated embryos. Healthy plantlets were stimulated on the same medium with 2 g/L activated charcoal (AC) and successfully acclimatized on Cycas rumphii bulk, with 88.3% survival plantlets. Finally, it can be summarized that a new in vitro mass propagation protocol, as new alternative choice for Phalaenopsis propagation, was successfully established.

Papua’s development m us t be considered in developing Indonesia. It is the unity in Bhineka Tunggal Ika. The equality and justice in striving the people’s prosperity is also important for Indonesian people. Pancasila is the basis of the nation, which explains the five principles that have a power in developing Indonesia towards a “Mutual Cooperation ( Gotong Royong )” society. The fifth principle, the justice for all Indonesian people shows that it is Soekarno’s idea of how the people can relish the existence of justice and prosperity in both formal and non - formal fields which leads to mutual cooperation. It is implemented in Jokowi’s era which is building and developing the marginalized areas, from Sabang to Merauke, esp ecially the neglected areas. This is the time to realize the real action for Papua to gain justice although the challenges and obstacles that will be faced are not easy. Injustice, marginalization, and sub - culture are often being the starting points of var ious crimes and violences in Papua. The Violence Armed Group ( Kelompok Kekerasan Bersenjata ) uses those three variables as the reasons for committing various forms of violences and politically frame it with the desire to escape from Indonesia. Abstract:
This academic work discusses about an activism of the religious movement recently emerging as a response against Liberal Islam in Indonesia. The rise of such movement is interesting to be studied so as to gain deeper understanding on the relationship between expression of religious piety and culture in the context of Indonesia. This article focuses on the case of enforced closure on transgender Islamic school (Pesantren Waria) and rejection of Easter celebration conducted by Religious forum in Yogyakarta. The incompatibility of cultural products and dominant religious (Islamic) values is the major reason underlying the movement’s action, which tends to exert renunciation radically. Furthermore, such act of rejection in some cases resulted deprivation of freedom and rights of individuals in assembling and holding a religious belief based on their faith, even inflicted a violation to certain group of people. The religious movement activism makes the dilemma, on the one side a form of enforcement of the Shari'ah, but on the other side creates anomalies that depriving expression rights. The analysis of the article’s identified problems are explained into three forms of conclusion; First, the phenomenon of religious movement activism is understood as deviant subculture through which they set a standard of conduct derived from their own conception of truth. There is reaction-formation pattern found, where this subculture constitutes values and norms from the key culture. They reject other values and considering their delinquent norms are the correct ones, which subsequently enact those as the standard of behavior. Second, there is construction of collective religious identity integrated with ethnic identity. Third, such religious identity construct is increasingly established as moral legitimacy in existing social order. As consequence, the movement perceives that the society no longer needs a set of values derived from external circumstances such as egalitarianism, humanity, gender justice, and others.

With no fixity of the standard form of Viking Persib logo, it has made the logo visually expressed differently based on the interpretation of each region or the so-called district. This study finds the pattern of Viking Persib logo variants in representing their identity. The study was conducted using Stuart Hall’s representation and Roland Barthes’ semiotics that analyzes the expansion of the signs meanings. From the analysis, it can be concluded that from the variations of the Viking Persib logos in various districts, its identity shows violence atmosphere and aggressiveness. These variations are influenced by punk ideology embraced by the Central Viking. The similar visual patterns asserts that they are proud to be part of a subculture that is exposed on the wider stage through football. Abstract:
This research focuses on Islamic boarding school (pondok pesantren) as religious tourism destination. Religious tourism is an important part of the international tourist market, including in Indonesia. Indonesian government has realized the role of this kind of tourism in economic development. Hence, every intake has been being taken to develop it, including promoting new destinations. One of them is pondok pesantren (Islamic boarding school) because it’s a unique subculture. Pondok Pesantren Biharu Bahri ‘Asali Fadlail al-Rahmah, which is located in Malang East Java, is one of them. It has luxurious, artistic as well as unique building. It’s also accused as deviationist. The main questions are the motivation of constructing the building, the process of the construction, and the effects of becoming the destination of tourism on the existence of Pondok Pesantren Biharu Bahri ‘Asali Fadlail al-Rahmah. The main motivation of the construction was ‘da’wah’ through building instead of words. The construction didn’t use any architect or other expert and financially self supported. The only inpsiration is ‘ilham’ (divine inspiration) of Kiai. Even the workers are the students themselves. Meanwhile, becoming tourism destination affected this pondok pesantren both positive and negative effects. Positive effects includes the mission of da’wah and economic empowerment, while the negative ones are inappropriate tourist activities, overcrowding as well as commercialization.

Abstract:
Background and Aim: Helicobacter pylori is a well-known zoonotic agent with worldwide distribution. In Indonesia, only one report regarding the variation within the cytotoxic associated antigen A (CagA) protein of H. pylori has been described in the literature, which was conducted in Manado, South Sulawesi. There remains no report concerning the structure of this protein, particularly for the Bali and Lombok isolates. The objective of this study was to investigate the diversity of H. pylori CagA amino acid sequences of Bali and Lombok isolates, to predict their molecular structures and conduct toxicity examination of CagA on gastric cells. Materials and Methods: A total of 36 samples were used in equal proportions for each pathologic condition. DNA extraction was performed to subculture H. pylori Bali isolates. The amplification of the CagA 3' variable region was carried out using the primers P1 (5'-GATAACAGGCAAGCTTTTTGAGG-3') and P2 (5'-CTGCAAAAGATTGTTTGGCAG-3'). The W2, W9, and W35 fragments were selected as a representation of H. pylori Bali isolates, which were modeled through the threading modeling approach using I-TASSER. Results: According to the 12 CagA sequences obtained and phylogenetic analyses, the H. pylori strain originating from Bali can be grouped within the East Asian genotypes and is identical to the Lombok strain. In addition, the Bali isolates are phylogenetically more closely related to Southeast Asian strains, particularly the Filipino strain. The relationship between degree of inflammation induced and CagA-positive infection was not statistically significant. Conclusion: The structure of the H. pylori Bali isolate is identical to that of Lombok isolate, which belongs to the same group of East Asian genotypes, and bacterial virulence is not related to structure.

Abstract:
Sipahutar pineapple is very popular in North Sumatra, because of the distinctive sweet taste and normal water content. Furthermore, it is large in size and has a yellow fruit skin color with greenish tips. However, the problem with Sipahutar pineapple production is the limited amount of good quality seeds. The utilization of in vitro culture techniques on pineapples allows the emergence of somaclonal variations, especially in plantlets that have undergone the subculture stage. This somaclonal variation is one of the problems in commercial seedling production, therefore, it is necessary to conduct an initial examination using the inter simple sequence repeat (ISSR) molecular marker. This study aimed to determine the genetic and primary stability of ISSR, which can be used in pineapple plants native to Sipahutar. The methods used include sample preparation, DNA isolation, primer optimization, ISSR primer amplification by PCR method, and electrophoresis. Furthermore, a total of 15 samples were amplified with six ISSR primers, and the data were analyzed by cluster method using the NTSYS-PC software. The final result was visualized in a dendrogram and analysis of diversity was conducted using GenAlex. The results showed that the level of genetic variability of the Sipahutar pineapple, which has undergone in vitro culture using six ISSR molecular markers was 76-97%. Meanwhile, the genetic variability level of the native to Sipahutar pineapple can be influenced by the long culture period and the use of N6-benzyladenine. The primers can be used to observe the genetic variability, except for ISSR 25 with a PIC value of 0.000.

Abstract:
Banana is a tropical Indonesian fruit that its cultivation is supported by the Government of Indonesia. Ampyang banana is one of popular and widely consumed banana. Availability of quality seedling is a challenge for Ampyang banana farmer. In vitro multiplication of Ampyang banana is a promising alternative method of breeding. However, fast growth of Ampyang banana in in vitro culture is an obstacle in subculture periode. Paclobutrazol is a compound that can impede giberellin synthesis and reduce vegetative growth in plants. The aim of the study is investigate different paclobutrazol concentration (2.5; 5; 7.5 ppm) to in vitro culture of Ampyang banana during plantlet phase to reduce growth of the plantlet. Observation was conducted during 2-10 weeks after planting. The result showed that there was no signifincant difference of leaf number among various concentration of placobutrazol which was given during 10 weeksafter planting. Meanwhile, the lowest number of new roots was found in the 2.5 ppm paclobutrazol concentration during 4 to 10 weeks after planting. The shortest root was found in the 7.5 ppm paclobutrazol concentration from 4 to 8 after planting. The lowest plant height was in the group of 5 ppm of placobutrazol concentration.

In the present study, in vitro secondary embryogenesis derived from meta-topoline (mT) treatment on mass propagation of Phalaenopsis ‘AMP 17’ was successfully established. Embryos, as explant sources, were prepared by culturing meristem tips of flower stalk shoots on Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium containing 1.5 mg/L thidiazuron (TDZ) and 0.25 mg/L N6-benzylaminopurine (BAP) for ± 3 months. High secondary somatic embryo (SSE) formation up to 64.90% with 12.30 SSEs regenerated per embryo was determined on half-strength MS augmented with 0.5 mg/L BAP and 2.5 mg/L mT. The combination also stimulated the result of high multiplication rate of SSE formation, up to 10.1 fold on the third subculture, maintained low conversion rate of germinated-embryos down to 55% and improved qualified-growth of the germinated embryos. The mT treatment produced 86% survival plantlets with high qualified-performance. The system could be applied as an alternative method to step forward towards an improved propagation protocol, commercially efficient due to high productivity. Detail findings in each step were discussed.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to explore, find and formulate a mechanism and strategy in social process in Dayah, which can be developed to be a model of new social process applied in public school. Design/methodology/approach The main objective of this research was to examine the strategy and mechanism of social reproduction in Dayah. The strategy and mechanism of social reproduction in public schools were also observed for comparison. The public schools were high school or vocational high school equivalent to the class in Dayah Mudi Mesra. The selected high schools as the object of comparison were SMAN 1 Samalanga and SMAN 2 Tanjungan, Samalanga. The selected public schools were public schools with similar sociological and psychological background and culture with Dayah Samalanga. This study is a social study using a qualitative approach with phenomenological design. The method used is the case study method; case studies are used as a comprehensive explanation related to the various aspects of a person, group, organization, program, or community situation that is studied, attempted and explored as deeply as possible. Findings Dayah with Islamic culture promises an effective social movement in Acehnese society. Dayah potential power was on the agents or social actor as the initiators of the idea of the creation of a network of social movements among Dayahs in Aceh. The stages of the creation of a social movement until movement crystallization can be modelled by utilizing their expert elite agents that are owned by Dayah in Aceh which is the intellectual elites and clerical elites. In addition, Dayah is a form of Acehnese local wisdom in education and religion that enables social movements to walk more naturally, democratically and educationally. Dayah ability related to Islamic culture as a broader social movement even has been tested at the level of the state and the nation of Indonesia. It is indicated by the creation of democratic process in Indonesia, which is activated by a community of Islam with democratic values as religion doctrine. As social movements, religious communities are able to construct perceptions, thoughts and attitudes in the lower class in response to the post-Suharto democratic change. Collins mentioned that social movements, which are derived from Islamic organizations, are able to show their presence at the local and national level. Originality/value The sociological wisdom is its unique social process. Based on preliminary studies, social processes in Dayah are closely related to the cosmopolitan value of Islam. This cosmopolitan value appears in the social order in the Dayah subculture, which appears to be more open to the role of the individual in society as an agent who can achieve a new social class. In this case, Dayah education can be a counter attack against negative social reproduction trends in general education.

Abstract:
This study of the ‘envelope culture’ — in which sources offer money or other gifts to journalists — explores the complex web of social, economic and institutional conditions that perpetuate the cultures of gift-giving, bribery and graft in Indonesian journalism. The study finds that the envelope relationship may lead to exploitation of either sources or journalists and, at its extreme, has generated a nefarious criminal subculture. This paper also explores the policy responses of the Indonesian journalists' professional association and various newsrooms. Attempts to control the envelope culture often fail because anti-envelope policies are often too ambiguous, policies are rarely accompanied by pay increases sufficiently substantial to encourage behavioural change, senior journalistic role models fail to set appropriate examples and newsrooms lack systems for detecting and prosecuting offenders.

Abstract:
Abstract:The role of pesantren education, since several centuries ago has contributed greatly to social reality. This view is inseparable from the role of pesantren as the last moral bastion of all models of Islamic education, even seen as the oldest Islamic education in Indonesia. From the sociological persperctive, the portrait of the presence of pesantren gave birth to the values of local wisdom as a subculture of pesantren which is believed to be the core belief and core values towards the implementation of Islamic education in the midst of intense liberalism and fundamentalism. Therefore, to provide a holistic understanding of this study, the author uses the social constructiontheory betweendialectics i.e., externalization, objectivation and internalization. According to the theoritical perspective, the process of creating the value system above is part of the externalization which is believed as objectivation by society as the internalized value systemwithin pesantren. Such value internalizationbecomes a social capital of pesantren to developa moderate-inclusive pesantren education, as a consequence of liberalism and fundamantalism. Because essentially, the dynamics of pesantren education is always in contact with the its surrounding social reality (historical determinism and practical realism) this view gives birth to two models of education namely; pesantren is seen as cultural enlightenment, and the dynamics of pesantren education can be influenced by social reality, including the birth of liberalism and fundamentalism which contributed to colour pesantren education portrait;more significantly pesantren education emphasized on the principle of togetherness (ijtima'iyyah), justice and tolerance (tasamuh) to social liberation (taharrur).

Abstract:
This article discusses how a fat body in a film is used as a metaphor for a deviant, dangerous, and irresponsible personality through the various narratives occupied by the characters in the film. This research is qualitative research with the main data source is Imperfect film released in 2020. The approach used is a combination of film studies and Sara Mills' critical discourse analysis. The results of the study show that although Imperfect promotes gender equality in society, the narrative that is built still position fat bodies and black skin as non-ideal, especially for woman. Furthermore, Imperfect film positions fat women as a subculture group that struggles as well as agents of change. In conclusion, this study provides an understanding of how the cinematic discourse on size and weight in the context of the structure of the wider community is related to gender issues and films as popular media still have not placed a positive side on weight and skin color, especially in Indonesian society.

Subkultur tunas anis ke dalam media<br />yang diperkaya dengan sitokinin yang berbeda meningkatkan jumlah tunas<br />yang berproliferasi dan memperbaiki visual tunas.<br />Kata kunci: Anis, Pimpinellla anisum L. , minyak atsiri, multiplikasi tunas,<br />in vitro, TDZ, BAP, Jawa Barat<br />ABSTRACT<br />Application of purine and urea types of cytokinins in<br />shoot multiplication of Anise (Pimpinella anisum L.) in<br />vitro<br />Pimpinella anisum L. or sweet anise is an annual–herbaceous plant<br />belongs to the Umbelliferae family. The fruit of anise contains of essential<br />oil, which is mainly consisted of trans-anethol (90%). Essential oils of<br />anise is mainly used as an antiseptic, antispasmodic, anticancer,<br />carminative, expectorant and has also been used as component in soap,<br />perfumery, tooth paste, and skin cream productions. Since this crop is<br />mainly cultivated in sub tropical region, anise cultivation in Indonesia has<br />not been performed. To obtain sufficient numbers of anise planting<br />materials in vitro propagation was conducted by applying benzyl amino<br />purine (BAP) and thidiazuron (TDZ). In this research TDZ or BAP were<br />applied at various concentrations (0,1 mg/l: 0.2 mg/l; 0.3 mg/l; 1 mg/l; 2<br />mg/l; 3 mg/l), to induce shoots in MS-solid culture media. The highest<br />number of shoots obtained in those two type of cytokinins containing<br />media from the initiation stage were subcultured into the media<br />supplemented with different cytokinins (TDZ to BAP or BAP to TDZ) at<br />0.3 mg/l or 3 mg/l levels. The results showed that medium with the<br />addition of TDZ resulted in higher numbers of shoot (3,26-6,28) than that<br />of medium with an addition of BAP (1,86-2,78). However, rosette shoots<br />were dominant in TDZ containing medium. On the other hand, medium<br />with an addition of BAP resulted in less numbers of shoots with taller<br />nodes. Subculture of anise into different kinds of cytokinins increased the<br />numbers of proliferated-shoots and recovered the abnormal shoots.<br />Key words : Anise, Pimpinellla anisum L, essential oils, shoots<br />multiplication, in vitro, TDZ, BAP, West Java
