Abstract:
Up to date, the concept of political style is underdeveloped, obstructing a profound understanding of political performances. This article disentangles the components of political style by analyzing the concept systematically. It is argued that instead of one single style, it has to be regarded as a cooperation of three styles: rhetorical, social and ideological. While approaches to reviewing rhetorical and social style are available, it lacks a method to assess ideological style. In this article, such a method is provided in a set of tools based on critical discourse studies. It defines ideological style in five traits that can be styled in a populist, elitist or pluralist manner. As an example, an ideological style analysis of six speeches of US politicians Donald Trump, Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton is performed. The analysis shows Trump having a full populist style in these speeches, Sanders a populist-pluralist style and Clinton an elitist-pluralist style. Comparison of the three individual style profiles gives a clarification of otherwise unexplained differences and similarities between the three politicians.

Abstract:
This research was conducted to investigate the contributions between personality, thinking style, problem solving style, and decision making style. 301 productive age people (25-44 years old) participated in this study. The researchers used the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) short version, the Gregorc Delineator Style (GDS), VIEW: Assessment of Problem Solving Style, and General Decision Making Style (GDMS). The analysis was performed using the multinomial regression analysis method. The results showed that thinking style is influenced by personality in which several aspects of personality affect several types of thinking styles. Problem solving styles are influenced by thinking styles where several types of thinking styles affect several types of problem solving styles. Decision making style is influenced by thinking style where several types of thinking style affect several types of decision making style. And there is no influence of the problem solving style on the overall decision making style, but several types of problem solving styles affect several types of decision making styles.

Abstract:
The present study examined the relationships between dispositional approach and avoidance motives, humor styles, and happiness. In keeping with previous research, approach motives and the two positive humor styles (self-enhancing and affiliative) positively correlated with happiness, whereas avoidance motives and the two negative humor styles (self-defeating and aggressive) negatively correlated with happiness. Also, we found support for three new hypotheses. First, approach motives correlated positively with self-enhancing and affiliative humor styles. Second, avoidance motives correlated positively with self-defeating humor style, and third, the positive relationship between approach motives and happiness was mediated by self-enhancing humor style.

Abstract:
Although current scene text detectors achieve remarkable accuracy across different and diverse styles of datasets by fine-tuning models multiple times, these approaches are time-consuming and hinder model generalization. As such, exploring a training strategy that only requires training once on all datasets is a promising solution. However, the text-style mismatch poses challenges to accuracy in such an approach. To mitigate these issues, we propose a style-aware learning network (SLNText) for style-robust text detection in the wild. This includes a style-aware head to distinguish the text styles of images and a dynamic selection head to realize the detection of images with different text styles. SLNText is only trained once, achieving superior performance by automatically learning from multiple text styles and overcoming the style mismatch issue inherent in one-size-fits-all approaches. By using only one set of network parameters, our method significantly reduces the training consumption while maintaining a satisfactory performance on several styles of datasets. Our extensive experiments demonstrate that SLNText achieves satisfactory performance in several styles of datasets, showcasing its effectiveness and efficiency as a promising solution to style-robust scene text detection.

Abstract:
This thesis examines the types, the used and the reasons why language styles used in Fabrizio Romano on his Instagram account, using Martin Joos's theory and a qualitative descriptive method. There are five styles proposed in Joos theory. The source of data is Instagram and there were 50 captions founds as the data. Those captions in Fabrizio’s instagram were analyzed in order to classify them into their own styles. This study reveals that Fabrizio Romano uses four of five language styles in his Instagram captions: formal style (26%), casual style (40%), consulatative style (14%), and intimate style (20%). Each style has a distinct tone and communication style, with formal style indicating a formal tone and proper nouns, casual style using conversational expressions, contractions, or shortening, and consulatative style asking for advice or predictions. Intimate style conveys personal sentiments and emotions, highlighting joy and enthusiasm, and is addressed to followers based on events. The choice of language style is deliberate, with formal language maintaining professionalism and credibility, while casual and consulatative styles foster engagement and inclusivity among a diverse audience. Incorporating intimate style allows for a personal connection with followers and a sense of authenticity. Overall, these language styles work together to enhance the overall experience and success of Fabrizio Romano's Instagram account.

Abstract:
Content has historically been the primary lens used to study language in online communities. This paper instead focuses on the linguistic style of communities. While we know that individuals have distinguishable styles, here we ask whether communities have distinguishable styles. Additionally, while prior work has relied on a narrow definition of style, we employ a broad definition involving 262 features to analyze the linguistic style of 9 online communities from 3 social media platforms discussing politics, television and travel. We find that communities indeed have distinct styles. Also, style is an excellent predictor of group membership (F-score 0.952 and Accuracy 96.09%). While on average it is statistically equivalent to predictions using content alone, it is more resilient to reductions in training data.

This study examines psychoanalytic psychology, theories of cognitive style, and cognitive developmental psychology to examine the relationship between cognitive style and defensive style. A new set of cognitive styles of visual attention is formulated at the following developmental levels: (1) global, (2) local, (3) global-plus-local at the concrete operational level, and (4) global-plus-local at the formal operational level. 50 subjects were administered global-local sorting tasks, the Sentence Preference Test, the Embedded Figures Test, and the Defense Style Questionnaire. Analysis provided mixed support for the hypothesized cognition-defense relationship. Results suggested that the “pure” character types are not typical and that their styles of cognition and defense are positively correlated, not independent as expected. However, possible measurement problems preclude any firm conclusions at this time.

We classify “fund style” by the fund name and conduct a portfolio-based style analysis. The main results are as follows. First, the proportion of value-style and dividend-style funds is very high compared to other style types in active funds. Second, managers tend not to adhere strictly to the fund style classified by the fund name. Interestingly, the smaller the fund size, the weaker the style characteristics. This result suggests that the management industry neglects small funds and does not fulfill its fiduciary duty. Third, we find that the persistency of the growth style is far behind the value style, and both winner and loser styles have the lowest persistency among all styles. Fourth, timing abilities for market factor, size factor, and value factor are not observed in general, but the timing ability for momentum factor is significantly observed in the active fund group. Fifth, we define artificial fund styles with consistent style investment strategy and compare those with the actual fund styles. We find that the risk of artificial types is generally lower than that of actual types and that several artificial types dominate real types due to higher returns and smaller risks.

Abstract:
In a student-centered teaching and learning environment, students' needs, potentials, and learning styles are considered crucial. Therefore, teachers need to understand what learning styles students prefer to teach effectively. In the current study, a quantitative research approach has been adopted in this study within it descriptive research designed was used. To determine the preferred learning styles of B.Ed. students, VARK (Visual, Aural, Read/Write, and Kinesthetic) learning style model has been used. Since the data was collected using the VARK questionnaire, simple random sampling techniques were used. The reliability of the instrument was calculated through Cronbach α= 0.75. The sample of the study consists of 140 Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) students of a Public Sector University located in Northern Sindh, Pakistan. The data were analyzed through descriptive statistics (percentages mean and standard deviation) to determine the most preferred style of learning of students. The results of the study revealed that 27.93% of the B.Ed. students have preferred aural learning style, 25.13% kinaesthetic learning style, 22.65% visual style of learning and 21.09% preferred read/write learning style respectively. To conclude that the majority of the B.Ed. students preferred aural learning style and the least preferred style of learning was read/write. Hence, B.Ed. students were driven towards an aural learning style. This study suggests that students learning styles are influenced by the teacher’s teaching style. Therefore, the teacher can determine his/her teaching style by using the score of the VARK questionnaire. The study recommends that another study can be conducted by the teachers to learn about the larger number of students’ preferred learning styles. The teacher can also address a mixture of learning styles. In the classroom, there are always diverse learners. In that case, the teacher can use integrated teaching style which can address all learners preferred teaching style.

Abstract:
Despite its widespread application in the educational field, little research has applied thinking style constructs from Sternberg’s (1988) theory of mental self-government to management. The present study examines the dimensionality, profile scores and motivational antecedents of thinking styles among a sample of 256 managers from large organisations. The findings confirm the four-factor structure of thinking styles that has been observed in the education field, albeit with slightly altered meanings. With respect to their profiles, managers displayed a preference for Type I styles (generative processes that are cognitively complex) over Type II styles (cognitively simple processes that involve adhering to norms), an external style over an internal style, and a global style over a local style. As predicted, learning orientation was positively related to Type I styles, and performance-prove orientation was positively related to Type II styles. A performance-avoid orientation was not related to either style type.

Abstract:
Learning styles aim to know variations in individuals’ learning. As per most of the theories, humans may be classified in line with their‘style’of learning. The term “learning styles” speaks to the understanding that each student learns uniquely. Learning is a vital experience for individuals of all ages. Based on Howard Gardner’s Theory of Multiple Intelligences, there are eight varieties of learning styles that everybody falls into which include visual, aural, verbal, physical, logical, social, solitary and naturalistic learning. Learning style inventories are designed to assist respondents verify learning style they have. These inventories usually take the form of a questionnaire that focuses on how folks prefer to learn. Learning style inventories are based on the thought that individuals have completely different strengths and preferences when it involves learning. Learning style inventories remain a preferred classroom tool despite the actual fact that research has found very little proof that matching a student’s learning preferences to instructional methods produces better educational outcomes. These are a few popular types of learning style inventories such as Kolb’s Learning Style Inventory (LSI), Fleming’s VARK Learning Style Questionnaire, Jackson’s Learning Styles Profiler (LSP), Learning Style Quizzes. In short, it is important to remember that there are a number of learning styles and learning style inventories. Each learning style has its own advantages and disadvantages. Knowing your learning style is not meant to limit you, instead to expand you – by helping you to learn, understand, work and live more efficiently.

Abstract:
In this study, we adopted parenting styles as a multidimensional and latent construct that includes different aspects of parenting, rather than solely focusing on a single parenting style. In a Web-based survey with 1203 Greek parents, we identified parenting styles and their SDQ reports on their children. According to our results by Latent Profile Analysis, we must use a more complex approach concerning parenting styles. We identified a “Highly Authoritative style” profile with high levels of authoritative, low levels of authoritarian and middle levels of permissive parenting styles. We additionally identified a profile called “Relaxed Authoritative style”, with still high but lower levels of authoritative style, low but slightly heightened levels of authoritarian style, and middle levels of permissive style. A further profile, named “Permissive Focused Authoritative style”, had a mix of high levels of authoritative, moderate levels of permissive, and elevated levels of authoritarian parenting styles. Finally, in a profile named “Inconsistent Parenting style”, we identified parents with a blend of still high, but the lowest of all four levels of authoritative and highest levels of permissive and authoritarian parenting styles. When combining the four identified parenting patterns with the SDQ results, we identified the “highly authoritative parenting style” profile to be the least connected to internalizing or externalizing problems of the respective children.

Abstract:
Desirable flight styles and techniques in ski jumping were calculated on the basis of the new aerodynamic force data for three styles: classic style, V style, and flat V style. In the V style and flat V style two skis are in a herringbone position in the frontal plane, whereas in the classic style the skis are parallel Flat V style is more flat in the sagittal plane than V Style. The most effective style was the flat V style if a ski jumper model did not change style during the gliding phase, which was the late part of flight phase (distance was 110 m). If the model changed flight style, the model that changed from classic style to V style at 1.3 s after takeoff or from flat V style to V style at 1.6 s could achieve 112.5 m. In addition, forward initial angular velocity was a positive factor to increase distance; in particular, the distance for the V style was sensitive to initial angular velocity.

Abstract:
Analyses of styles in design have paid little attention to how peopleseestyle and how designers use perceptions of style to guide designing. Although formal and computational methods for analyzing styles and generating designs provide impressively parsimonious accounts of what some stylesare, they do not address many of the factors that influence how humans understand styles. The subtlety of human style judgments raises challenges for computational approaches to style. This paper differentiates between a range of distinct meanings of “style” and explores how designers and ordinary people learn and apply perceptual similarity classes and style concepts in different situations to interpret and create designed artifacts. A range of psychological evidence indicates that style perception is dependent on knowledge and involves the interaction of perceptual recognition of style features and explanatory inference processes that create a coherent understanding of an object as an exemplar of a style. This article concludes by outlining how formal style analyses can be used in combination with psychological research to develop a fuller understanding of style perception and creative design.

Abstract:
Despite learning styles being one of the main topics of interest in education, not many studies have considered the influence of learning styles regarding students learning foreign languages in Malaysia. This study investigates the learning style preferences of 35 Spanish beginner level students aged between 20 and 24 years, the teaching style preferences of their Spanish teacher, and the relationship between the matching of teacher and learner styles and the learners’ language achievement. Data were collected using an adapted perceptual learning style preference questionnaire, a teaching style questionnaire, interviews and class observations. The findings show that the learners preferred kinaesthetic and auditory learning styles, while the teacher preferred kinaesthetic and tactile teaching. Interestingly, the results suggest that improvement in terms of achievement may not necessarily be related to a match between teacher and learner style. It was found that learners who improved were those who could adapt to the teacher’s styles and also those who would use multiple strategies to learn Spanish. Also, the results indicate that application of multiple teaching styles help students learn Spanish in a more enjoyable and effective manner. These insights are of interest to research on learner styles in general, and specifically to Spanish teachers in their instruction planning.

This study examines if there is a match or mismatch between students’ learning styles and the teacher’s teaching styles in a classroom at Khalid Bin Alwlid School, Tabarjal, Saudi Arabia. The main objectives of this study are to determine dominant learning styles of the whole secondary grade students and the teacher’s teaching style. This study was carried out as a case study, and the data were analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. Participants of this study were a class of 15 students and their English language teacher to the first secondary stage. The instruments used for collecting data were Reid’s Perceptual Learning Style Preference Questionnaire (1995), Teachers Teaching Style Preferences Questionnaire (Peacock 2001), and semi-structured interview. The findings of this study indicated that the majority of the students had multiple learning styles with at least auditory and group as their major learning style preferences, followed by kinesthetic, tactile, and visual as their minor learning style preferences. They showed negative preference towards individual style. The major learning style preferences of the English language teacher were visual and individual, followed by tactile and kinesthetic as his minor style preferences, while his negligible teaching style preferences were auditory and group. Language style is very important to learn to understand a literary work, because everyone has a different language style. The purpose of this study is to determine the type of language style used by Lewis and the social factors that influence the style of language in the novel. The researcher applies a sociolinguistic approach using Martin Joos' theory which divides five language styles, namely frozen style, formal style, consultative style, relaxed style, and familiar style. In this thesis, qualitative method is used to analyze the problem. The researcher found 46 data of the language style, they are frozen style 8 (17.4%), formal style data 8 (17.4%), consultative style data 9 (19.5%), casual style 17 data (37%), and intimate style 4 (8.7%). The findings also show that there were 52 data from social factors that influence the use of language styles, they are participants 20 (39%), setting 2 (4%), topic 22 (41%), and function 8 (16%). In this study, the most dominant style of language is the casual style, while the social factor that most influences the use of language style in this novel is the topic.

Abstract:
We used nondenaturing isoelectric focusing (IEF) in a survey of plants from 11 populations to identify style and pollen proteins unique to the short-styled morph of Turnera scabra, T. subulata and T. krapovickasii. Three protein bands [approximately isoelectric points (pIs) 6.1, 6.3 and 6.5] were found only in styles and stigmas of short-styled plants while two bands (approximately pIs 6.7 and 6.8, M r 56 and 59 kD) occur only in pollen of short-styled plants. Some of these bands appear very late in development, within 24 hr before flowering. Two isozyme loci were mapped to an 8.7 cM region spanning the distyly locus. Using these isozyme markers we identified progeny exhibiting recombination adjacent to the distyly locus. No recombinants between the distyly locus and the locus or loci controlling the presence of the short-styled morph-specific proteins were obtained. This suggests that the loci encoding these proteins are either extremely tightly linked to the distyly locus and in complete disequilibrium with the S allele or exhibit morph-limited expression. Crosses to a plant showing an unusual style protein phenotype demonstrated that an additional unlinked locus is required for full expression of the style proteins. The function of the morph-specific proteins is unknown
