Abstract:
Abstract The main advantage of inductively coupled plasma spectrometers with axially viewed plasma relative to the radially viewed plasma is the better detection power. The detection limits of the former are about 5-10 times lower than the latter. On the other hand, the axially viewed plasma has disadvantages. The most notable is the increased number of interference effects. In this paper, the study of the interference effects of aluminium on the atom- and ion-lines of alkaline earth metals are presented by examining different types of sample-introduction devices, such as a simple Meinhart-type concentric nebuliser, a V-groove nebuliser using a Sturman-Masters spray chamber, and an ultrasonic nebuliser

Abstract:
Grit becomes an aspect that is no less important for students. In Indonesia, the study of grit began to be widely conducted in the field of education. Studies on grit still need to be developed to enrich the literature and discussion, especially the great benefits for students. This research aims to describe about grit students in Indonesia and to enrich the findings and literature about it. This research used quantitative approach. Participants in this study were Indonesian students, aged 16-23 years (418 high school students and 408 college students). The instrument used the Grit Scale for Children and Adult (GSCA) from Sturman and Zappala-Piemme (2017) consisting of 12 items (a = 0.744). Data analysis uses SPSS 26 to help to perform a descriptive analysis of demographics and t-tests. The results of this study showed the level of a grit of students in Indonesia is in the moderate category. This study also showed no significant grit differences neither based on gender nor by grade level of students.

Abstract:
Compensation satisfaction represents an important construct to organizations and to the field of Human Resource Management because it serves as a critical mediator between an organization’s compensation policy and relevant behavioral and attitudinal outcomes (Blau, 1994; Lawler, 1981; Sturman & Short, 2000). Compensation plays a significant role in determining employees’ job satisfaction. According to Bozeman & Gaughan (2011), the perception of being paid what one is worth predicts job satisfaction. This study, therefore, seeks to establish the effects of compensation on job satisfaction among primary school teachers, secondary school teachers and college teachers in Bangladesh. The questionnaires prepared for this purpose are applied to 250 teachers who are currently working in various schools and colleges in Bangladesh. The collected data have been analyzed through several techniques by using SPSS 17.0 program. Analyses of the study reveal that a significant relation is observed between the compensation factors and the job satisfaction of the teachers. Overall, the teachers’ job satisfaction levels are not so elevated (mean value is 3.46 and a standard deviation is 0.982). Besides, the differences among the demographic variables (age, gender, monthly income level, job experience, and education) and the attitudes towards these factors and the levels of job satisfaction are also measured. This study provides significant information for educational institutions regarding compensation factors of job satisfaction.

Abstract:

Abstract In 1565 the Strasbourg Gymnasium experienced a profound crisis. Rector Sturm contributed this to the lack of understanding of the method he had developed approximately 30 years prior. Thus, Sturm inspected teaching lessons and distributed detailed recommendation letters to teachers. These letters, called the Classicae Epistolae, represent a hybrid genre: as didactic letters they convey a pedagogic-methodical content, while they also contain protreptic elements with Sturm’s calls to implement his recommendations.

In 1917 Pell (1) and Gordon used sylvester2, Sylvester’s littleknown and hardly ever used matrix of 1853, to compute(2)the coefficients of a Sturmian remainder — obtained in applying in Q[x], Sturm’s algorithm on two polynomials f, g ∈ Z[x] of degree n — in terms of the determinants (3) of the corresponding submatrices of sylvester2. Thus, they solved a problem that had eluded both J. J. Sylvester, in 1853,and E. B. Van Vleck, in 1900. (4)In this paper we extend the work by Pell and Gordon and show how to compute (2)the coefficients of an Euclidean remainder — obtained in finding in Q[x], the greatest common divisor of f, g ∈ Z[x] of degree n — in terms of the determinants (5) of the corresponding submatrices of sylvester1,Sylvester’s widely known and used matrix of 1840.(1) See the link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anna_Johnson_Pell_Wheeler for her biography(2) Both for complete and incomplete sequences, as defined in the sequel.(3) Also known as modified subresultants.(4) Using determinants Sylvester and Van Vleck were able to compute the coefficients of Sturmian remainders only for the case of complete sequences.(5) Also known as (proper) subresultants.

Abstract:
A fully differential cross section for single ionization of helium induced by 1 MeV proton impact is calculated using the parabolic convoluted quasi-Sturmian (CQS) method. In the framework of this approach the transition amplitude is extracted directly from the asymptotic behavior of the solution of an inhomogeneous Schrödinger equation for the Coulomb three-body system (e−,He+,p+). The driven equation is solved numerically by expanding in convolutions of quasi-Sturmians for the two-body proton-He+ and electron-He+ systems. It is found, at least in the high energy limit, that the calculated cross sections within the proposed CQS method converge quickly as the number of terms in the expansions is increased, and are in reasonable agreement with experimental data and other theoretical results.

Symbolic dynamics is an iterative system that is generated by a shift on a finite symbolic space. It is a special kind of dynamics. Symbolic dynamics has a lot of theoretical and practical applications in many fields such as physics, computer and so on, so it is important to study its dynamical behavior.Sturmian system that is generated by Sturmian sequences is the least complex kind of symbolic dynamics. In the present paper Sturmian sequences are expanded which make them generality. In fact expanded Sturmian sequences share many of properties of Sturmian sequences, but they cannot completely take place of Sturmian sequences. It appears to make a difference between them. It is of value to study expanded Sturmian sequences.

Abstract:
In this paper, Sturmian comparison theory is developed for the pair of second order differential equations; first of which is the nonlinear differential equations of the form (m(t)??(y'))' + Xn,i=1 qi(t)??i(y)=0(1) and the second is the half-linear differential equations (k(t)??(x'))'+ p(t)??(x) = 0 (2) where ?*(s) = |s|*-1s and ?1 >...> ?m > ? > ?m+1 > ... > ?n > 0. Under the assumption that the solution of Eq. (2) has two consecutive zeros, we obtain Sturm-Picone type and Leighton type comparison theorems for Eq. (1) by employing the new nonlinear version of Picone?s formula that we derive. Wirtinger type inequalities and several oscillation criteria are also attained for Eq. (1). Examples are given to illustrate the relevance of the results.

Sturmian colorings are colorings of minimal unbounded factor complexity $b_{n}(\unicode[STIX]{x1D719})=n+2$. In this article, we prove an induction algorithm for Sturmian colorings using colored balls in a way analogous to the continued fraction algorithm for Sturmian words. AbstractIn this article, we discuss subword complexity of colorings of regular trees. We characterize colorings of bounded subword complexity and study Sturmian colorings, which are colorings of minimal unbounded subword complexity. We classify Sturmian colorings using their type sets. We show that any Sturmian coloring is a lifting of a coloring on a quotient graph of the tree which is a geodesic or a ray, with loops possibly attached, thus a lifting of an ‘infinite word’. We further give a complete characterization of the quotient graph for eventually periodic colorings.

Abstract:
This paper is devoted to a study on the way generalized substitutions - a multi-dimensional extension of substitutions - act on multi-dimensional Sturmian sequences. We give a sufficient condition under which these multi-dimensional Sturmian sequences are obtained by iterated compositions of generalized substitutions. This condition relies on Brun expansions - a multi-dimensional extension of continued fraction expansions.

Abstract:
We prove that the Fibonacci word f satisfies among all characteristic Sturmian words, three interesting extremal properties. The first concerns the length and the second the minimal period of its palindromic prefixes. Each of these two properties characterizes f up to a renaming of its letters. A third property concerns the number of occurrences of the letter b in its palindromic prefixes. It characterizes uniquely f among all characteristic Sturmian words having the prefix abaa.
