Abstract:
This research was motivated by student activity in the PIK-R organization at SMA N 1 Koto This research aims to see a picture of students' understanding of the PIK-R organization, see a picture of students' activity in the PIK-R organization, and see the relationship between students' understanding of the PIK-R organization and their activity at SMA N 1 Koto XI Tarusan. This research uses a quantitative, correlational type approach. The population of this research is all students who are members of PIK-R at SMA N 1 Koto XI Tarusan, totaling 24 respondents. Meanwhile, samples were taken using a total sampling technique, namely 100% (24) and trials were carried out at other schools that had the same characteristics. Data collection techniques using tests and questionnaires distributed directly to respondents. Meanwhile, the data analysis technique uses percentage formulas and rank order formulas. The research results show that students' understanding of the PIK-R organization is still relatively low. Students in organizations have low activity, and there is a significant relationship between students' understanding of the PIK-R organization and their activity. This means that the higher the student's understanding of the PIK-R organization, the more active the student is in the organization, but conversely, the lower the student's understanding of the PIK-R organization, the lower the student's activeness. Abstract:
Nurses are often the primary source of donor referrals to an organ procurement organization. Early exposure to donation information during nursing school may enhance nurses' ability to identify and refer potential donors once they are in nursing practice. Although organ procurement organizations strive to provide donation education to nursing students, this process can drain an organization's resources. Therefore, to facilitate the educational process with a minimum of disruption to the function of the organ procurement organization, a standardized approach to donation was developed. After the program had been in place for more than a year, students and organ procurement organization staff alike reported great satisfaction with this standardized approach.

Abstract:
Student organizations play a role in the development of students' managerial and leadership abilities. Human resources in student organizations include leaders and members of the organization. Every student organization certainly has a work program (proker) where this work program is a guide for every step of the organization and also becomes a direction for leaders and members to run the organization's wheels. To carry out this work program, a leadership strategy is needed because this strategy will later provide direction on how the organization can achieve the work program it has set. This study aims to determine how leadership strategies are applied to organizations in order to realize work programs in student organizations. This research uses descriptive qualitative research methods and data processing techniques using SWOT analysis techniques. The population in this study were 15 students who joined the organization at the Faculty of Economics, Tidar University. Based on the results of the study, it was stated that the leadership strategy applied by organizational leaders in directing their members to realize work programs, among others, by providing opportunities for members to participate in decision making, motivating members, directing members to work, and coordinating However, in reality, this strategy still poses obstacles for the organization in the form of delays in carrying out work programs due to lack of discipline among members of the organization.

Abstract:
Members of the organization are the organization’s central resource. Having loyal employees willing to perform tasks beyond their job description helps increase performance of the organization. However, those kinds of attitudes and behaviors arise when members of the organization perceive compatibility with the organization. This is known as a person-organization fit. This study aims to verify the influence of person-organization fit towards organizational commitment and organizational citizenship behavior in a sample of members of students’ activity organizations from private university in Bandung, Indonesia. To collect the data, we distributed a questionnaire to 108 students who become members of the student activity organization. The results of the study show that there are relationships between person-organization fit toward organizational commitment with 34.9% and person-organization fit and organizational citizenship behavior (17.7%). Based on the result, we provide some managerial recommendations; for instance, student activity organizations should organize more events to build members fit to the organization.

Full text
Abstract:

The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of student organization membership on the development of leadership practices among traditional-aged undergraduate students. Specifically, the influence academic-related student organizations have on the leadership development of its student officers and members. This quantitative study explored the transformational leadership behavior of student officers and members of academic-related student organizations at a large research I public university in the mid-west. The student version of the Leadership Practices Inventory (LPI) was utilized to provide self-reported assessments of the leadership practices of the student organization officers, student organization members, and of students not involved in student organizations.

Analysis was completed to determine the level of practice of the five leadership practices identified by the Student Leadership Practices Inventory and to compare these levels of practice between students involved in academic-related student organizations and students who were not involved in a student organization. The study documented a significant difference for all five leadership practices between students who served as academic student organization officers and students who were not involved in a student organization. The results for the comparison between students who were members of an academic student organization and students who were not involved in a student organization found no significant difference for all five leadership practices identified by the Student Leadership Practices Inventory.

Analysis was also completed to determine any differences in leadership practice based upon sex. The majority of these comparisons showed no significant difference. However, there was a significant difference between student organization officers and students not involved in a student organization. Female student organization officers self-reported higher scores in the practices of Inspire a Vision, Challenge the Process, and Enable Others to Act. Male student organization officers self-reported higher scores in the practices of Model the Way, Inspire a Vision, and Challenge the Process. There were no significant differences within study groups.

Abstract:

The objective of this research study was to ascertain if attributes of servant leadership were more fully developed in undergraduate students nearing graduation than in those students who recently embarked on their university program. The university at which the project was completed endeavors to make its undergraduate students servant leaders as publically stated in its vision, mission, and other public statements and documents. The results of the research indicate that of the five servant leadership attributes selected, the seniors indicated higher scores in two categories, lower in one, and showed no statistical difference in the other two. As a result of this study, therefore, it cannot be concluded that the upper classmen had stronger servant leadership attributes than freshmen. The implications of this result include the need for further study around the students’ environments and history, the institution’s curriculum and extracurricular content, and the culture of the university in light of its mission and vision.

Abstract:
This study addresses several research questions. First, it explores methods for organizing information regarding health services so as to keep information accessibility at an optimal level. Second, this project identifies student perceptions concerning accessibility and organization of information about student services. This study also assesses students' awareness of the available services. The study combined qualitative and quantitative methodology, involving two distinct stages of data collection. Results suggest age is largely unrelated to a belief schools should provide student services but positively correlated with the knowledge of the location of student services. Nearly all student services were positively correlated with the use of services. For the most part, no group differences were observed in the use of services. However, first-generation college students seemed to be the best predictor of the use of student services. Content analysis concluded that contemporary students primarily use internet resources to obtain student services information.

Full text
Abstract:
Today linguistic hybridity is often conceptualized as translanguaging. The present study of translanguaging was a linguistic ethnography, which meant investigating cultural issues as well as linguistic practices. The focus was on bilingual speakers of Vietnamese and English, two "named" languages that differ considerably in morphology, syntax, and orthography. This study, conducted over four and a half months, was situated in the Vietnamese Student Organization of a U.S. university, and it included 37 participants. The research was intended to answer two questions: what forms of translanguaging did these bilinguals use? and what reasons did they provide for instances of translanguaging? In capturing the language use of this community, my role was participant-observer, which entailed observing and audio-recording conversations in three kinds of settings: group meetings, social gatherings, and Facebook communications. Additional insights came from discourse-based interviews, focused on instances of translanguaging by 10 individuals. In the group meetings and Facebook conversations, it was conventional for the major language to be English, whereas in the social gatherings it was Vietnamese. My attention in analyzing these interactions was on patterns of translanguaging that occurred within sentences and those occurring outside sentence boundaries. Overall, most translanguaging occurred intra-sententially, as single words from one language were segmented within a sentence being spoken or written in the other. As to extra-sentential forms, this translanguaging in the group meetings mainly took the form of Vietnamese honorifics, and Facebook conversations included some extra-sentential double postings. Participants provided reasons for translanguaging that included community factors, discourse-related factors, and individual-related factors. This inquiry provides further insights into the multi-competences of bilingual individuals. The Vietnamese-English bilinguals drew flexibly from their linguistic repertoires, merging two languages that are quite different. Use of hybridized language was conventional for them and was central to their practices. This linguistic hybridity was a mutuality—one of the ways in which these students were, in fact, a community.

Ehmke, Norman Dean. "The impact of school organization and transition on students' self-concept." Diss., The University of Arizona, 1993. http://hdl.handle.net/10150/186394.

Full text
Abstract:
This study evaluated the impact on the self-concept and self-assessed levels of anxiety of sixth grade students as they made the transition from elementary school to the middle school environment. In particular, the research focused upon the difference in the impact on students' self-concept and anxiety level as they transitioned from a departmentalized elementary instructional organization as compared to a self-contained elementary instructional organization. The research utilized a pre- post-test design. The Piers-Harris Children's Self-Concept Scale and the Revised Children's Manifest Anxiety Scale were administered in the sixth grade in schools in two separate, but similar, districts. The tests were administered in the fall of 1992 and the spring of 1993. The spring and fall data were interpreted and analyzed following the publisher's directions for scoring and interpreting the individual student responses. Comparisons of data for student self-concept and anxiety were made for each population and for gender and age between the two sample populations. The analysis of data as it pertains to the impact of school transition on student self-concept resulted in the following conclusions. (1) The instructional organization of sixth grade in the elementary school does not appear to have a significant impact on students' self-concept. (2) There is no significant difference in impact on self-concept between males and females. (3) There may be a more significant positive impact on the self-concept of 12 year old students than on 13 year old students. (4) The instructional organization of the sixth grade in the elementary school does not appear to have a significant impact on students' anxiety level. (5) The transition has a greater negative impact resulting in higher anxiety levels for 12 year old females than for 12 year old males, regardless of the instructional organization in the sixth grade. (6) There is no significant difference across age levels in the impact on anxiety levels between 12 year olds and 13 year olds regardless of the instructional organization in the sixth grade.

Abstract:
Developing software inside an organization can be a valuable experience for students in their early careers as software engineers. Delivering code written by more than one person means extra work on organizing, communicating, tracking progress, and assessing results. As skills like team management, leadership, teamwork, and communication are not taught as a main course in computer science or engineering universities, a good question to ask is how students learn to be effective? An adequate assumption would be that they see successful companies as models. If a corporation developing software projects uses a certain set of tools, schemes, and concepts to organize their work, then the same things should work for student projects as well. However, even if programs and strategies designed for good teamwork and management have the best intentions in mind, this assumption is not always true. This could result in a poor organization with limited performance. As such consequences are to be avoided, a study focusing on identifying good practices for students could establish the needs of voluntary student organizations in order to meet them without the unnecessary corporate overhead. To correctly assess student voluntary organization status, data describing several team management strategies have been collected both via forms and interviews. The following paper presents a research conducted on student voluntary organizations. This work identifies key tools and management practices that are commonly used by teams of students and how they compare to the tools used inside a company with paid employees. The final purpose is to identify good management practices inside student voluntary organizations that can be used as a reference by students when establishing new teams. The paper starts by analyzing each side's motivation for working inside a company/organization, continues with setting key performance metrics for collecting data, and ends with a comparative discussion. This study's contribution represents a series of recommendations of tools and approaches that suit student voluntary organizations the most.

Abstract:
Abstract Mechanical engineering concepts such as Heat Transfer and FEM are better understood by visualizing and getting hands-on experience on the problem where many of the students fail. One such process that helps the students to visualize, understand and feel the concepts is to participate in student-level design and development challenges. There are many organizations spread across the world that conduct student-level design and development challenges. In India, Fraternity of Mechanical & Automotive (FMAE) is a private organization that focuses on student development in the automobile sector by conducting various types of student-level motorsport events like the design and development of Quad Bike, Baja Buggy, Formula Student, etc. Taking part in these competitions creates a platform for the students to form a team, design and develop vehicles, and compete against other teams nationally and internationally. It also increases the student’s ability to work in a team, take responsibility for a mission-driven project, and also increase leadership and managerial skills. During the process, the students enhance their skills of in-depth understanding, visualization, and knowledge of various engineering concepts.
