Full textAim of the paper – create virtual team management model integrated across different project phases, which was defined based on virtual team structural models and respective project stages. Paper objectives: 1) Provide conception of virtual teams based on various scientific interpretations. 2) Analyze the concepts of project management and team development theories applicability in virtual environments. 3) Create a virtual team management model according to the project phases and structure models of virtual teams. 4) Create the process of virtual team development during the lifecycle of the project based on the study results. Study methods. Scientific literature comparative analysis methods were used while analysing project management, concepts and structure of virtual teams. Experimental initial research had been conducted in a structured interview, questionnaire survey. The obtained results were processed using a mathematical analysis method (mode, median, mean, percentage expression) while processing the data with Microsoft Excel software. Synthesis method was used in order to formulate and structure the findings. Result. The paper has examined the structure of virtual teams and project management phases. Accordingly, theoretical virtual project team management model was created. Virtual team development process was designed based on this theoretical model and the results obtained in the study. Full textA big part of assets in companies today consists of their employees knowledge and skills. In today’s society knowledge insensitive companies are increasing. The survival of these companies lie in the knowledge of their employees, which make it of great importance that knowledge transfer is managed properly. Knowledge transfer is important since it makes it possible for co-workers to apply old solutions to new problems that arise, using knowledge that already existing within the organization. From a knowledge transfer point of view, using project as an overall structure has both advantages and disadvantages. Since work comprehended in a project is limited in time knowledge and experiences made from a project may not come to use in a future project. Members of a temporary organization do not have a department to return to and there fore no natural way to transfer the knowledge they gained.
Purpose of this paper is to describe knowledge transfer in project-based organization and barriers for doing so between projects. The study is conducted at two Swedish companies, SABO AB and Struktur Svenska Kontor AB in the service sector using interviews, studies of documents and observations. Our paper contribute to research by describing problems with knowledge transfer in two small project-based service organization using new concepts and cast shed on problems depending by the organisation, members and the character of project within in the organization.

En stor del av tillgångarna hos många av dagens organisationer utgörs av deras medarbetares kunskap och skicklighet. Vi lever i ett samhälle där kunskapsintensiva företag kommer att bli allt fler. I och med att dessa organisationer fortsätter att existera på grund av medarbetarnas kunskap är det av stor vikt att kunskapsöverföring fungerar väl. Kunskapsöverföring är viktig eftersom den möjliggör för medarbetare att använda sig av gamla lösningar på nya problem. Många av dagens företag organiserar sig i projektform, en företeelse som har blivit allt vanligare på senare tid. Att organisera sin verksamhet i projektform kan medföra både för och nackdelar när det gäller kunskapsöverföring. Detta beroende på att de konstellationer som byggs upp under ett projekt upphör när projektet är avslutat. Projektmedlemmar har heller ingen avdelning att återvända till, vilket gör att kunskap och erfarenheter från ett projekt blir svårare att sprida vidare.
Syftet med uppsatsen är att beskriva kunskapsöverföring i projektbaserade organisationer samt vilka problem de har när det gäller kunskapsöverföringen mellan projekt. Undersökningen grundar sig på intervjuer, dokumentstudier och observationer som har genomförts på SABO AB och Struktur Svenska Kontor AB. Dessa företag är tjänsteproducerade och organiserar sin verksamhet i projektfrom. Vår uppsats bidrar till tidigare forskning genom att beskriva hinder för kunskapsöverföring i två små projektbaserade tjänsteföretag genom att använda nya koncept och belysa problem beroende av organisationen, individen och projektens karaktär inom organisationen.

Therefore, the importance for integrated thematic mapping has no doubts, because atlas is like the cartographical encyclopeadia holding inside all information we need. Knowledge of environmental quality, human health and health service are significant. Considering to atlas relevance, information base for mapping and geographical health atlas deficiency in Lithuania, the peculiarities of geographical health atlas project being analysed. Following general requirements the authoress specifying the main purpose of the atlas, it’s format, materials and ect.; maps content by sections; content and structure of the text; authorship and technology planning. Authoress gives the structure and paste-up composition of thematical maps. The main attention is direct to section and scale selection, variations of paste-up compositions. Full textThe purpose of the study is to contribute with knowledge of how different stakeholder groups experience the Project Management Office in their organization. The method used is semi-structured qualitative interviews with physical meetings and a total of nine interviews were conducted at two project management offices with internal stakeholders. Thematic analysis was then used as the method for the interview. The method is based on the thematization of the coded interview data, which resulted in six different themes in total. These themes are distributed among the two project management offices and became three themes at each Project Management Office. These themes depict two completely different project offices. At the first Project Management Office, the internal stakeholders experienced that there was control and management of the project management office by using a clear working method with coaching and support in the daily work of the project. The Project Management Office constantly strived to improve and develop and one of their development areas was resource allocation in its product portfolio with control. At the second Project Management Office there was also control and management but to a lesser extent and with a disagreement in the management about the project concept and how it would be used. The internal stakeholders were a more mixed group of different competencies and had different needs for support and coaching from their project management office and there was a constant lack of staff. The Project Management Office was not fully established, and the entire organization was not used to the new working methods that the Project Management Office stood for and therefore reporting and established project tools were missing. The conclusion is that in order for a Project Management Office to have control and something to say about, it needs to be implemented and accepted in its organization and needs to have powers as a means of exercising power and pushing things through.

Full textThe aim of this study is to explore whether the structure provided by Work Flow (an event based on the Pomodoro-method) is perceived as beneficial in the work of a project member. A qualitative study sheds light on why seven project members seek this structure in their work and which benefits they found. A thematic analysis resulted in six themes. The result describes how the project members’ availability is an obstruction to find focus on their own tasks. It also describes the need of personal connections and sense of management understanding in a free role. Thereafter the project members’ experience of Work Flow is described. The interviewees discuss topics concerning self-affirmation, control and sense of progress which makes prioritization possible both concerning tasks and active pauses. Finally, we look into the use of Work Flow in everyday life. The method is considered more suitable for administrative duties and the sense of progress when performing these tasks is very positive. However, the respondents describe some resistance when trying to change their routines at work. In spite of this they predict great advantages if introducing Work Flow in their own project organization as they envision peace to work, improved collaborations and better results. The Progress Principle was used to analyze the results from a motivational point of view. The conclusion is that Work Flow shows potential to improve the everyday life of project managers and project teams by creating a sense of progress, an improved awareness of time, including project planning, and a better understanding of the struggles of other team members. The method may create a positive improvement for both the individual and the project organization through increased motivation, joy of work, creativity and productivity.

Full textThe purpose of this study is to evaluate the Kenyan development project and NGO Nikumbuke, which aims to empower the participating women due to patriarchal structures in the country. We have participated in the project as volunteers and studied the methods that Nikumbuke uses to achieve their goal and examined the experienced effects for the participants and possible difficulties that the project may face. To fulfill the purpose of this study a qualitative method was used. Additionally an evaluation method in combination with an analysis that focuses on the effects of the project has guided us throughout the work. The material was collected using semi-structured interviews, group interviews and participating observation. Relevant earlier research and theories consisting of Tillys theory about resistant inequality, empowerment and Bourdieus theory on the capital forms, habitus and field were used to analyze the empirical material. The result shows that the methods Nikumbuke use provides the women with tools to improve their abilities and capital volume that leads to empowerment, however the social norms, traditions and structural obstacles in Kenya are still problems that are difficult to change. Furthermore the fact that Nikumbuke is a NGO with limited economic resources makes the project dependent of others and risks extending the process of long term development effects.

Full textTidigare forskning visar på att meningsskapande strukturer [eng: sensemaking structures] i organisationer existerar och håller en avgörande del i projektsammanhang. Informella individuella strukturer, så som uppgiftslistor, används och produceras för att bryta ner projektarbetet till mindre uppgifter. Dessa strukturer har visat sig vara av stor betydelse, men nackdelar har även visat sig förekomma. Tidigare forskning har huvudsakligen fokuserats kring individen, men mindre uppmärksamhet har lagts på organisatoriska aspekter. Denna studie syftar till att utforska de konsekvenser projekt kan erhålla då individuella strukturer är dominanta i projektarbetet. I ett försök att finna dessa konsekvenser så har både skälen till produktionen av dessa strukturer samt dess källa analyserats. För att identifiera dessa konsekvenser har en kvalitativ fallstudie utförts på ett svenskt konsultföretag, där resultatet samlades in genom att intervjua 16 anställda verksamma på olika positioner och hierarkiska nivåer. Användandet av meningsskapande strukturer var som väntat stort, då syftet till dess användning både var individuellt och kollektivt. Studien visar att källan till de individuella listorna skiljer sig åt,vilket bidrar till risken att det formas flertalet synsätt på projektets mål, vilket i sin tur påverkar projektets utveckling. Projektledarens ansvar att kommunicera och vara transparent har visat sig vara av betydelse i syfte att minimera individuella prioriteringar och därav bör det byggas en mer enhetlig syn på projektets prioriteringar. Då författarna av studien finner tydliga kopplingar mellan individuella meningsskapande strukturer och organisatoriska implikationer föreslås vidare forskning på meningsskapande processer genom en organisatorisk lins.

Full textUnder vår tidigare studie med titel ”Utveckling eller förveckling; En interaktiv studie om en förändringsprocess på en gymnasieskola.” (Alexandersson & Carlén, 2007) uppmärksammade vi förändringsarbetes komplexitet. Tillsammans med lärarna och skolledningen togs beslutet att följa upp deras utvecklingsprocess genom denna studie av fördjupande karaktär. Studiens syfte var att förstå vad som sker i en arbetslagspraktik i samband med ett utvecklingsarbete med fokus på de kritiska aspekter som kan uppstå i en sådan process.
Vi antog en hermeneutisk ansats och valde aktionsforskning som metod där vi använde reflexiva intervjuer som erbjuder flexibilitet vid intervjutillfällena. Analysarbetet präglades av att tolka, och reflektera över, den insamlade datan i relation till vår förförståelse som inom hermeneutiken ses som grundläggande.
Resultatet visar på hur flera olika faktorer inverkar på, och samverkar i, förändringsarbete. Ur dessa har vi urskiljt tre kritiska aspekter i arbetslagets förändringsarbete som vi anser särskilt betydelsefulla att beakta vid förändringsarbete;
- Att organisationen förhindrar det pedagogiska förhållningssättet
- Att målstyrning kräver förändrat ledarskap.
- Att samarbete och förändring bidrar till lärares kritiska reflektion och makt över sin egen praktik.
Vi konstaterar att en gemensam förståelse för uppdraget, genom hela skolans organisation, är nödvändig för att kunna genomföra de omstruktureringar som förnyade undervisningsformer kräver. En ytterligare förutsättning för förnyade undervisningsformer är att våga frångå det gamla till förmån för det nya.
During our previous study entitled ”Development or complication? An interactive study of a developing project in a upper secondary school.” (Alexandersson & Carlén, 2007) we noticed the complexity of developing projects. Along with the teachers and school management we decided to follow up their developing project in this study of deeper character. The purpose of the study was to understand what happens in a team work practice related to a developing project focusing on critical aspects that can appear in such a process
Our empirical approach was hermeneutic and our method was action research. We used reflexive interviews which are open and offer flexibility during the interviews. Interpreting and reflection characterized our analysis work
The result indicates several different aspects that effects developing project and we have identified three critical aspects which we find particularly important to take into consideration in developing project.
- That the organisation prevents the pedagogical attitude.
- That management by objectives requires transformed leadership.
- That co-operation and developing project contributes teachers’ critical reflection and power of their domain.
We establish that a common understanding of the mission throughout the school organisation is necessary in order to implement restructuring that renew teaching format require. Another condition for renewed teaching format is to relinquish tasks to make place for new ones.
