Abstract:
Abstract Few work concerned on the flexural strength of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP)-aluminum fuselage frames with bolted splice joints used in aeronautical industry. To provide help for the design of CFRP aircraft strcutures, this paper investigated the flexural behavior of CFRP-aluminum fuselage frames with bolted splice joints experimentally. Firstly, CFRP-aluminum fuselage frames were fabricated with mid-span bolted splice joints. The joints comprised: reinforced or unreinforced aluminum splice plates bolted to the fuselage frames. The bolt diameters were 4.76mm and 6.35mm. Then, the effects of splice plate and bolt dimeter on flexural behavior of CFRP-aluminum fuselage frames with bolted splice joints were investigated through four-point bending test. It has been shown that the introduction of reinforced splice plate improves the structural load capacity. However, increasing bolt diameter lowers the flexural strength of CFRP-aluminum fuselage frames with bolted splice joints. This splice jointed structure is a representative part of the rear fuselage, and the experimental results will be commonly instructive for the the aeronautical CFRP joining applications.

Abstract:
The article is dedicated to determining the definition, features and structure of the legal culture of servicemen. The definition of the legal culture of a serviceman is presented as a complex of judicial values, abilities and skills whichaltogether determine his legal behavior. There’re arguments provided in favor of the idea that the culture of servicemen happens to have the following features: a) avariety of the general culture of the serviceman which happens to develop in the course nurturing within the family and the initialsocialization in the system of common middle-professional education; b) is characterized by a number of layers and consists ofthe legal culture of the citizen, which includes the legal culture of a serviceman and which in its turn consists of the legal cultureof a cadet, officers, sergeants and non-commissioned officers and privates etc; c) has influence on both the behavior of theserviceman, but also the existing overall level of legal culture of military entities.Based on the analyses of the elements of the legal culture of the serviceman it was possible to determine the followingelements of its structure: а) the theoretic-legal culture (doctrinal knowledge with regard to the essence and the peculiarities oflaw, the legal norm, state, rights and freedoms of the individual and other legal phenomena, that indirectly influence the socialrelations in a state and determine the content of the generic and special legislation); b) the military-legal culture (knowledge inthe field of military law, abilities and skills in terms of his implementation in different situations in the line of duty); c) theinformational-legal culture (the complex of knowledge, abilities and skills of legally just behavior in informational relations). Itincludes a pretty broad spectrum of elements – starting with the behavior of the servicemen on the social media and finishes withthe protection of personal data of one’s subordinates; d) the linguistic-legal culture ( the complex of knowledge, ability and skills, which allow to freely operate with the foreign military terminology, including the one that is implemented in administrative, operative, and NATO material-technical standards; e) the pedagogical-legal culture (the complex of special methods and meansto develop knowledge, abilities and skills, value orienteers and persuasions based on the realization of the rule of law among thesubordinates and other servicemen).

Abstract:
The effect of composition on martensitic phase transformation and structure in polycrystalline NiMnGa was investigated through Ni substitution for Mn, Ga and Mn substitution for Ga. The martensitic transformation temperatures almost linerly increase with increasing Ni content in Ni50+xMn50-xGa25, Ni50+yMn25Ga25-y and Mn content in Ni50Mn25+zGa25-z. The increases in rate of the martensitic transformation temperatures are different for the three conditions. It is large for Ga substituted by Ni, slow for both Mn substituted by Ni and Ga substituted by Mn. Analysis shows that electronic concentration is an important factor to influence the martensitic transformation temperature in the Ni-Mn-Ga alloys. The results show that Ni excess stabilizes the NM martensitic structure and Mn excess stabilizes the 7M martensitic strcuture in broad composition range.

Abstract:
Two major ways of water discharge from plant leaves are vapour transpiration and liquid guttation through stomata and hydathodes, resptectively. However, besides pure water, guttation fluid contains various salts, sugars and other organic substances which cause injury to plants through their accumulation on leaf surface. Functionally, hydathodes not only play an important role on water excretion but also on retrieval of minerals and their structures are different from those of stomata, even though both have same phylogenic origin. In the present study, the distribution, strcuture, and cytology of hydathodes and stomata of Fisuc formosana Maxim were reported.Leaf blades of fully expanded leaf were cut with a razor blade into small cubes in fixation buffer containing 2.5% glutaraldehyde. These were transfered to fresh fixation buffer for 2 h, postfixed in 1% osmium tetraoxide for 4 h, dehydrated through an ethanol series, and then infiltrated and embedded in Spurr's resin. Sections in golden color were collected on grids, doubly stained with uranyl acetate and lead citrate, and observed with a Hitachi H-600 transmission electron microscope (TEM).

Abstract:
Background: In an attempt to find non-invasive biomarkers, researchers have investigated the feasibility of neuroimaging tools, such as MR, SPECT as well as neurophysiological measurements using EEG. The increase of theta frequency has been associated with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and related to both grey matter (GM) changes of thalamus and basal ganglia and SPECT modifications. Objective: To study the association of prognostic theta frequency with specific GM and perfusional changes of thalamus and basal ganglia to detect biomarkers early predictive of mild cognitive impairment. Methods: 74 adult subjects with mild cognitive impairment underwent EEG recording and high resolution 3D magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Moreover, 27 adult subjects with mild cognitive impairment underwent also perfusion single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) evaluation. The theta/gamma ratio was computed for each subject. Three groups were obtained according to increasing tertiles values of theta/gamma ratio. Grey matter density differences between groups were investigated using a Voxel Based Morphometry technique. Results: Subjects with higher theta/gamma ratio and increase of theta frequency showed minor atrophy in putamina nuclei bilaterally and a lower hippocampal perfusion in subjects with mild cognitive impairment. Conclusion: The integrated analysis of EEG and morpho-functional markers could be useful in the comprehension of anatomo-physiological underpinning of the MCI entity.

Abstract:

Abstract:
In moving towards an engineered performance-based approach to structural fire safety, a sound knowledge of the elevated-temperature properties of structural steel is crucial. Of all mechanical properties of structural steel at elevated temperatures, material creep is particularly important. Under fire conditions, behavior of steel members and structures can be highly time-dependent. As a result, understanding the time-dependent mechanical properties of structural steel at high temperatures becomes essential. This paper presents preliminary results of a comprehensive on-going research project aimed at characterizing the material creep behavior of ASTM A992 steel at elevated temperatures. Such creep properties are presented in the form of strain-time curves for materials from the web and the flanges of a W4×13 wide flange section and from the web of a W30×99 section. The test results are then compared against material creep models for structural steel developed by Harmathy, and by Fields and Fields to evaluate the predictions of these models. The preliminary results clearly indicate that material creep is significant within the time, temperature, and stress regimes expected in a builing fire. The results also demonstrate the need for a more reliable creep model for steel for strcutural-fire engineering analysis.

Abstract:
The research questions addressed by the literature on learning in macroeconomics can be classified into four categories: First, there are issues related to the convergence and stability under learning in models with unique rational expectations equilibria. Authors here are concerned mainly with the learnability of a rational expectations equilibrium, as a measure of that equilibrium's plausibility as an observed outcome in an actual economy. Second, there are issues related to convergence and stability under learning in models with multiple rational expectations equilibria. In this case, learnability serves as an equilibrium selection device, helping economists decide which equilibria are the more likely to be actually observed among the many that exist under rational expectations. A third set of issues involves the examination of transitional dynamics that accompanies the equilibrium selection process. Following some type of unexpected strcutural change or change in policy regime, for instance, economies necessarily must follow temporary transitional paths to a rational expectations equilibrium associated with the new reality. Learning is sometimes used to help model such transitional dynamics. Finally, there are issues related to the examination of learning dynamics that are intrinsically different, even asymptotically, from the dynamics of the rational expectations versions of the models. In these cases, the learning dynamics do not converge to the rational expectations fixed points, and (unexploitable) expectational errors persist indefinitely. Some authors have tried to make use of this possibility in order to build explanations of otherwise puzzling macroeconomic phenomena based on constantly changing expectations.

Abstract:
Aim - This study investigates the influence of talent management and organi-zational culture on employee productivity in the public sector, also it assessed the moderating effect of employee involvement in the relationship. Methodology- The study employed a quantitative approach in data collection and analysis. Data was collected through a structured questionnaire disributed among 158 purposively sampled permanent senior staff in University of Ilor-in, Nigeria. The analysis was conduucted using Partial Least Square Strcutural Equation Modelling. Findings- The findings indicate several significant relationships between tal-ent management, employee commitment, employee productivity, and em-ployee satisfaction. Limitations- First is the small sample size of only 158 respondents from the public service. This small sample size may not accurately represent the views and experiences of employees from other industries or sectors and may limit the generalizability of the findings. Second, the study was conducted with a specific population of public service employees which may not be applicable to other sectors or organizations. Third is that the study relied on self-reported data from a survey, which may be subject to bias. Participants may have provided responses that they believed were socially desirable, rather than accurate reflections of their true beliefs and experiences. Practical implications- Public sector organizations should focus on imple-menting effective talent management practices, fostering a positive organisa-tional culture, and involving employees in shaping the culture in order to improve employee commitment and satisfaction. Further, the findings high-light the importance of focusing on employee commitment and improving employee productivity. More so, the rate at whihc employees are involved in the organization has an impact on the relationship between the organizational culture and employees’ productivity. Originality/value- The study contributes to literature by exploring how talent managment influences employee productivity, while investiating the critical moderating role of employee involvment.

Abstract:
ABSTRACTIn situ ellipsometry at selected wavelengths in the spectral range 280 nm to 1000 nnn was performed during the rf bias assisted electron cyclotron resonance (ECR) etching of bulk silicon, GaAs, InP, and GaAs/AlGaAs/GaAs, and InGaAs/InP layered strcutures by a CCl2F2 based etch gas. While real time thickness changes for bulk materials cannot be determined ellipsometrically, some insight into the etch mechanism may be gained by observing the effect of the process on the surface dynamically, and after the etch process has been completed. Monitoring of the layered structures during etching can provide a real time measure of the amount of material remaining in the layer being etched, and provide tight process control.

Abstract:
Both accurate and fast mobile recommendation systems based on click behaviors analysis are crucial in e-business. Deep learning has achieved state-of-the-art accuracy and the traditional wisdom often hosts these computation-intensive models in powerful cloud centers. However, the cloud-only approaches put significant computational pressure on cloud servers and increases the latency in heavy-load scenarios. Moreover, existing work often adopts RNN strcutures to model behaviors which suffers from low processing speed for under-utilization of parallel devices such as GPUs. In this work, we propose an efficient internet behavior based recommendation framework with edge-cloud collaboration on deep CNNs (CoRec) to improve both the accuracy and speed for mobile recommendation. A novel convolutional interest network (CIN) improves the accuracy by modeling the long- and short-term interests and accelerates the prediction through parallel-friendly convolutions. To further improve the serving throughput and latency, a novel device-cloud collaboration strategy reduces workloads by pre-computing and caching ong-term interests in the cloud offline and real-time computation of short-term interests in devices. Extensive experiments on real-world datasets show that CoRec significantly outperforms the state-of-the-art methods in accuracy and has achieved at least an order of magnitude improvement in latency and throughput compared to cloud-only RNN-based approaches for long behaviors.

Abstract:
Bird-window collisions are an important cause of bird mortality worldwide. Reducing collisions requires understanding of the costs and benefits perceived by stakeholders. I consulted two focus groups, conducted 18-semi-strcutured interviews and applied surveys to 58 residents of Monteverde, Costa Rica, to understand their perception of the problem. Many reported collisions in their houses but there is a lack of information about the magnitude of the situation. Black silhouettes are the most frequent method of prevention, even though they are mostly ineffective. The main factors for selecting methods include unblocked views, aesthetics, effectiveness, ease of installation and removal, and ease of maintenance. The preferred effective method was cords (Acopian Bird Savers), and painted dots was the least liked. I recommend education about effective methods for Monteverde and similar communities.

Full text
Abstract:
In spite of the success of fluorescence microscopes (such as STED, STORM and PALM) in biomedical field, which have realized nanometer scale imaging resolution and promoted the great development of bio-medicine, the super-resolution imaging method for non-fluorescent sample is still scarce, and the resolution still has a big gap to nanometer scale. Among existing methods, structured illumination microscopy, PSF engineering, super-oscillatory lens and microsphere assisted nanoscopy are more mature and widely applied. However, limited by the theory itself or engineering practice, the resolution of these approaches is hard to break through 50 nm, which restricts their application in many fields.
Enlightened by synthetic aperture technique, researchers proposed spatial frequency shift super-resolution microscopy through shifting and combining the spatial frequency spectrum of imaging target, which is a promising super-resolution imaging scheme as its resolution limit could be broken through continually. Currently, due to the restriction of the refractive index of optical materials, the wavelength of illumination evanescent wave is hard to be shorten when generated at prism surface via total internal reflection, which determines the highest resolution of this spatial frequency shift super-resolution imaging system. Another deficiency of this scheme is the difference of imaging resolution in different directions, as only in the direction along the wave vector of illumination evanescent wave, the image has the highest resolution; while in the direction perpendicular to it, the image has the lowest resolution, as same as that obtained by far-field illumination.
In order to solve the above thorny questions, a new model for evanescent wave generation has been proposed, which could generate omnidirectional evanescent wave with arbitrary wavelength based the phase modulation of nano-structure, and solve the both problem in imaging system at the same time. To verify the possibility of our scheme, we set up a complete simulation model for spatial frequency shift imaging scheme, which includes three parts:the generation of evanescent wave and its interaction with the nano-structures at imaging target, with could be simulated with FDTD algorithm; the propagation of light field from near-field to far-field, from the sample surface to the focal plane of objective lens, which could be calculated with angular spectrum theory; the propagation of light field from the focal place to the image plane, which could be calculated with Chirp-Z transform.
With this complete simulation model, we compared the resolution of microscopy illuminated by evanescent wave and propagating wave, firstly. The results verified the super-resolution imaging ability of evanescent wave illumination, and also demonstrated the influence of refractive index of prism, as higher refractive index makes shorter wavelength of evanescent wave and higher resolution of spatial frequency shift imaging system. Secondly, we demonstrated the resolution difference at a series directions with a three-bar imaging target rotated to different directions. The result shows that the highest imaging resolution occurs at the direction of illumination evanescent wave vector, and the lowest resolution appears at the direction perpendicular to the wave vector. At last, we simulated the evanescent wave generated by nano-strcuture and demonstrated its properties of wavelength and vector direction. When applied to near-field illumination super-resolution imaging, the omnidirectional evanescent wave solved the both problems existing in the model of total internal reflection at prism surface.
Therefore, the advantages of our scheme are higher imaging resolution and faster imaging speed, no need for multi-direction and multiple imaging, and also image post-processing. Our research opened up a new perspective of spatial frequency shift super-resolution imaging, and established a theoretical foundation for its application.
