Abstract:
Based on the analysis of the current legislation, the system of subjects of interaction with the State Aviation Service has been determined. These include: the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine (functional ministry), which includes the State Enterprise of Air Traffic Services of Ukraine, the State Enterprise of Air Traffic Services of Ukraine, the National Bureau for Investigation of Aviation Incidents and Incidents with Civil Aircraft, the State Aviation Regulation Department of Ukraine - bodies implementing state policy in civil aviation and the use of Ukrainian airspace. The following features inherent in the subjects of public administration in the field of aviation and the use of airspace of Ukraine: 1) the subject of public administration are both the executive branch and bodies that do not have such a status were endowed with the appropriate powers; 2) orderliness of the activities of all state subjects of regulation of the aviation industry in accordance with a single goal and strategic objectives, which are simultaneously synchronized with the main vector of development of the state. Among such general directions of development we can single out - European integration, economic strengthening of Ukraine, ensuring national security and defense; 3) the broad profile of the activity of state subjects of regulation is due to the fact that aviation is an integral part of the transport sector of the state; 4) taking into account, in carrying out regulatory activities, a large number of international standards, rules and requirements, which in turn implies the ability of the subjects of state regulation to actively work closely with foreign organizations; 5) the ability to integrate, ie integrated perception of the aviation industry and the use of airspace of Ukraine, which is technologically complex, is not limited to air transport, also includes production, repair and modernization, training, economic, land and other legal issues. 6) exclusion of commercial interests in the implementation of regulatory activities by state entities, while streamlining such activities in accordance with the economic interests of the state. It is noted that the field of aviation and the use of Ukrainian airspace is regulated by a large number of public administration entities, which form a complex and multilevel structure that does not benefit the development of this industry. Special emphasis should be placed on the different status of these bodies and the existence of duplicate powers in them. That is why today it is necessary to simplify the existing system as follows: 1. to ensure the independence of the State Aviation Service of Ukraine by obtaining a special status; 2. to subordinate to the State Aviation Service of Ukraine the National Bureau for Investigation of Aviation Incidents and Incidents with Civil Aircraft; 3. eliminate duplication of powers of public administration entities in this area.

Abstract:
Introduction. The paper is devoted to the problems of research of features and modern mechanisms of economic regulation of foreign economic activity of enterprises in Ukraine. The purpose of the paper is to improve the scientific and methodological basis for stimulating the development of foreign economic activity of enterprises and substantiation of the theoretical foundations of foreign economic activity of enterprises in order to further their development in the today's globalized world. Results. It is determined that one of the problems of foreign economic activity of enterprises is the problem of inefficient management system, lack of strategic and marketing approaches to enterprise management, and enterprises more often use the technique of short-term adaptation. An enterprise focused on the development of foreign economic activity should develop approaches to improve international marketing, especially in terms of making effective management decisions based on the processing of a significant amount of information data and assessing the factors of the international market environment. The main condition for the adaptation of enterprises to the rapidly changing external environment may be the formation of a system of strategic planning, which provides a more rational use of limited resources, promotes consistent development and implementation of management decisions, focuses on sustainable development in market conditions. The management staff should clearly formulate the principles of strategic research in order to intensify foreign trade in industrial enterprises, and most importantly – formed a marketing strategy for foreign trade. The main means of increasing the potential of foreign economic activity of enterprises are the formation of such economic conditions that would allow due to modernization of production to increase domestic production and services, introduce innovative technologies. Conclusion. In order to improve the foreign economic activity of Ukrainian enterprises, it is proposed to implement a policy aimed at increasing merchandise exports by introducing innovative developments to improve the quality of domestic products, which must meet international norms and standards necessary to create a sufficient level of competitiveness in domestic markets.

Abstract:
A necessary condition for a market economy is the existence of a competitive environment between economic entities, especially when agricultural enterprises enter foreign market. This problem is clear because the foreign economic activity of enterprises provides them with a competitive advantage allowing enterprises to enter a competitive market and occupy their positions in the world market of goods and services. The choice of strategies for a particular enterprise in the field of foreign economic activity is a long-term process that involves the choice of strategies from possible behaviors and coordination of actions of all structural units. Unfortunately, the loss of agricultural enterprises is one of the negative factors preventing them from performing management tasks related to the implementation of the chosen competitive strategy. In this case, the company may not focus on any strategy at all, and will not solve operational problems related to the economic efficiency of economic activity. In general, the essence of strategic management of enterprises engaged in foreign economic activity is to form a concept of benefits and prospects that can bring the international market and its actions. When implementing the company's strategic management in the international market, it is inevitable to avoid assessing short-term, medium-term and long-term risks and prospects. The competitiveness of agricultural enterprises should be based on the following aspects: improving the quality of enterprise management, development and compliance with standards of strategic competitiveness of agriculture and food; formulation of proposals for the formation of various strategies for enterprises; improvement of innovative organizations, introduction of information technology, and the presence of merchants in the commodity market provides information support; improves the organizational and technical level of support for agriculture; develops logistics and marketing systems.

The recent development of Chinese cities has witnessed an increasing number of foreign nationals working in China. Foreign nationals tied up with MNEs are one of the powerful drivers for urban transformation in the post-reform era. However, little attention has been paid to their socio-economics characteristics. This chapter, therefore, is to analyse characteristics of foreign nationals in socio-economic, demographic and spatial aspects. This chapter focuses on a globalising Chinese second tier-city, Suzhou as a case study.

Abstract:
The article deals with the problem of analysis of banking activity and modern methods of investment development of the bank based on pairs trading models. The essence of the pair trading method as one of the most popular and qualitative methods of investment paper quality analysis is disclosed. The basis of the pairing trading method is defined as the beta-neutral portfolio strategy, which consists of creating a portfolio with a beta coefficient equal to zero, and the main advantage of which is the complete independence of the final paper yield from the market yield, it is only dependent on the future ratio of the value of one security to another. For the successful introduction of this method in banking activity, a clear algorithm for the construction of a paired trading model based on economic-mathematical methods and models is proposed. The proposed algorithm contains three stages in which the following steps are to be taken: analysis and selection of securities; development of a pairing trading model; development and regulation of the selected strategy. The implementation of the proposed algorithm begins with the selection of statistical data on the prices of securities, provides for the verification of data on stationarity, as well as the identification of a system for combining series, and the analysis of coefficients of the matching between prices of securities. As a result of the steps taken, pairs of securities are selected that are more closely related and a full economic analysis of the pairs is made, and the parameters of co-integration equations to pairs of paper are selected, evaluated and analyzed then the errors of the co-integration model are checked for stationary. In the work models of pairs trading are constructed for the realization of an aggressive strategy of trade spreads. In order to build an effective strategy for pairing trading, data on prices of securities, which are the most attractive to Ukrainian banks, namely, US Treasury bonds, have been examined. The hypothesis being tested in the paper is that it is necessary to identify a pair of securities with a sufficiently strong dependency where one should have a rapid growth or decline relative to the other, after which the sale of the revalued security and the purchase of the undervalued security is mandatory. The study found that for each pair of Treasury bonds, the ratio was satisfactory. This indicates that the resultant securities pairs are suitable as an investment that, with a well-designed strategy, will allow the bank to obtain optimum returns. The final step of the algorithm is the analysis of the results obtained, which includes a comprehensive analysis of the conducted research and effective decision-making. The application of the proposed algorithm will allow banks to make informed decisions on the choice and regulation of the strategy in exchange market changes in order to obtain a low level of risk and a high level of profit.

This chapter studies the identification of the profile of knowledge-intensive firms, analyzing if their innovation activity is a characteristic related with their profitability and employing as framework the ‘Resource-based view of the firm (RBV)'. Using a sample of 202 Spanish biotechnology companies, drawn from SABI database, the author has identified these firms' available data until 31st December, 2013. It has been used the cluster analysis methodology rarely employed in the preceding literature to characterise the firms of the sample. The empirical analysis results clarify the profile of the analysed firms, helping stakeholders and policy-makers to understand the dynamics of these kinds of firms and making strategic decisions accordingly over their characteristics. This would help them to grow in an orderly way and, thus, promote socio-economic changes to improve competitiveness and economic growth.

Abstract:
This chapter describes the rationale and nature of Indonesia’s foreign policy vis-à-vis the United States and China. It places Indonesia’s foreign policy pertaining to these two countries within the broader context of Jakarta’s management of great power relations. The author argues that Indonesia’s approach can be described as “pragmatic equidistance.” This approach captures the idea of fully engaging one great power in various forms of cooperation—from economic to defense—while simultaneously both maintaining strategic autonomy and keeping equal balance with other great powers. Put differently, it is about how a developing country with a rising regional and global profile like Indonesia can fully exploit the benefits of strategic partnerships with different great powers while maintaining autonomy and not being pegged as too close to one great power at the expense of another. The author further argues that Indonesia’s pragmatic equidistance with the United States and China is a function of (1) the historical legacies of bilateral relations, (2) the end of authoritarian rule in 1998 and the ensuing democratization process, and (3) the changing strategic environment in the broader Indo-Pacific. These conditions overlap and help explain the persistent ambiguity in the triangular Indonesia-U.S.-China relations.

Tourism is a vital sector that presents one of the ways of economic diversification of a country. It has become a major economic activity that plays an important role in bringing people, countries, and regions together. In addition, it is an area promoted as a strategic sector since it provides a high percentage of foreign exchange earnings and represents a major share of GDP. Also, it provides a large number of jobs, especially for the most vulnerable groups in the society, including women, young people, and the low-skilled. Boosting this sector would result in remedying the inadequacy of the budgets allocated to the sector to allow maximum investments and to improve the business climate.

Social media companies have increasingly used global stock exchanges to raise fresh capital needed to expand and commercialise their business models. Despite the soaring proliferation of social media interactions and improving economic fundamentals, many of the high-profile IPOs have underperformed on debut and in secondary trading. This chapter seeks to identify success and failure factors of social media stock market flotations from the operational, industrial and financial perspectives. The research features flagship social media IPOs comprised by the most representative social media Exchange Traded Fund (ETF), the Global X Social Media Index ETF (SOCL), which replicates the price and return performance of the globally recognised Solactive Social Media Total Return Index. The analysis sums up the early evidence of IPO organisation with regard to social media issuers and posits three decisive factors in this process related to: flotation timing, pricing and pre-IPO business integration. The research offers some practical recommendations for future social media IPOs as well as directions for further academic studies at the interface of social media industrial, economic and capital market activity. The following takeaways concerning social media IPOs emerge from the study: 1) Staging and timing: social media companies should mull flotations when a clear-cut path toward cash generation and accrual profits is observable (chronically cash deficient and unprofitable social media tend to underperform on debut and in post-IPO trading) and amid protracted bull markets so as to raise the odds of a propitious IPO climate; 2) Organisation and management: the success of social media going public decisions is a function of seamless IPO organisation (including conservative pricing, share dilution tied to envisaged liquidity and capital expenditure as well as trading and clearing system reliability); 3) Issuer characteristics: social media IPOs are facilitated by businesses commanding a dominant position on the home market, having a diversified core business (including exposure to non-media operations), coming on the stock market either as industry trendsetters or in the wake of successfully executed IPO benchmarks; 4) Factor coalescence: no isolated factor discussed in this chapter can fully explain the performance of a social media IPO – it is rather their combination and interconnectivity that can comprehensively attest to the success or failure of a going public strategy employed by a social media company. From the investment standpoint, the case study analysis demonstrates that a case-by-case (rather than sectoral) approach needs to be adopted for investors seeking to derive gains from social media IPOs, as passive exposure to the entire industry (e.g. via index tracking) is not per se a guarantor of market competitive investment performance.

Abstract:
In the paper, we investigate the main causes and consequences of de-industrialization manufacturing and identify important factors influencing the structural transformation of the industrial sector through the prism of global technological challenges. Important challenges identified include environmental challenges of the threatening impact of climate change, digitalization in all spheres of public life, the technological leadership of developed countries in context field of Industry 4.0, changes in the geopolitical landscape and trade conflicts between countries; migration and population aging; changes in competencies and retraining of employees to acquire digital skills; cybersecurity and volatility threats; quarantine amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The current structural imbalances of Ukrainian industrial development are considered and the current state and dynamics of structural changes in the Ukrainian economy in technological, reproduction, sectoral and foreign economic dimensions are analyzed. Crisis trends in the Ukrainian industry developed long before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic: comparing the structure of Ukrainian industry by type of economic activity, a decrease in the share of the manufacturing industry, a loss of production potential for a number of high-tech industries (automotive industry, instrument making, shipbuilding) and a decrease in added value in manufacturing industry with Ukraine's establishment as an independent state in which profound political, social and economic reforms have begun to take place. The analysis made it possible to determine further opportunities for industrial development, taking into account harmonization with European trends in digital and green transformations in industry. Based on the research results, complex directions for solving structural imbalances in industry at interrelated levels are proposed: state, regional and local levels. Overcoming the consequences of Ukrainian manufacturing deindustrialization in the context of European integration is dependent on developing and implementing relevant policy of manufacturing modernization and principles of the "circular economy"; integration into strategic value chains; creating conditions for training personnel with digital competencies; development of an innovative infrastructure – scientific, industrial, technological parks, innovation clusters and business-incubators. This will lead to the development and introduction of domestic innovation in production, which in turn should inspire further progress in the innovation structural transformation in Ukrainian economy and help to enhance national competitiveness and achieve sustained economic growth.

Abstract:
Today, the different speeds of regional development and the preservation of unresolved structural contradictions, which have a pronounced regional dimension, have become one of the main foundations of political reconstruction in the growth of changes to ensure national security. Favorable regional institutional environment creates opportunities for optimal use of resources of the territory, which is the basis for ensuring the proper quality of life of the population of the region, eliminating all possible dangers at all levels. The strategic objectives of regional policy are to increase the competitiveness of regions and strengthen their resource potential, ensure human resources development, development of interregional cooperation, it is clear that under conditions of stable functioning of the security system at the regional level and thus the national system. In addition, the regional policy of the state - targeted actions of the state aimed at balancing the conditions of regions and their results, improving the use of aggregate regional resources and opportunities that can be implemented against the background of comprehensive security actions in all areas, including local levels. The mechanism of implementation of state regional policy, which can be defined as a system of specific state levers and organizational and economic means by which state influence on the spatial organization of society, provides socio-economic development of regions, improves the structure of their economic complex. That recently, due to the crisis situation in the country and military action, the system of state regional policy has paid considerable attention to the system of ensuring the security of the region from possible threats and challenges that may cause national dangers. The main components of the integrated mechanism of state regional policy of Ukraine, as defined by current regulations, are: the relevant legal framework, budget and financial regulation of regional development, forecasting and programming, development of various forms of territorial organization of productive forces. Legislative regulation at the international level of regulatory relations creates favorable conditions for a single legal activity related to national security, which, in turn, includes organizational and communicative tasks in the implementation of domestic and foreign policy at all levels.

Abstract:
Mergers and acquisitions (M&As) are increasingly being used in the business world, and this process plays an important role in economic theory and lays the foundations for sustainable business development. The global recovery in foreign direct investment (FDI) was strong in 2015, with global FDI flows jumping by 38%, their highest level since the global economic and financial crisis of 2008–2009. A surge in cross-border M&As to $721 billion, from $432 billion in 2014, was the principal factor behind the global rebound. These M&As were partly driven by very large corporate reconfigurations by multinational enterprises (MNEs), i.e. changes in legal or ownership structures, including shifting their headquarters for strategic reasons and tax inversions. This paper examines the key M&As stimulating strategic objectives and causes, and ways of this process, as well as the cross-border M&As market activity. The objective of this paper is to identify ways, purposes and reasons of M&As transactions, and to present the factors influencing this process and market activity. The object of this research is the M&As transactions market. Research methodology of this paper is based on scientific literature and statistical information systematic, comparative, logical and econometric analysis.

Abstract:
Oil resources are finite and production decline is a fact for this century. The question is, why there has been so little policy action? This paper proposes that dealing with the complex changes involved in the transition to oil supply contraction requires new kinds of engineering modeling and analysis. There are no miracle technologies that will mitigate the need for major policy, economic, infrastructure and land use changes. Researchers have the responsibility to develop new methods and tools necessary for policy makers and planners to manage this change in direction. Without the right tools, the policy choice is between denying the problem and hoping for miracles. With the right Transition Engineering tools, the policy choices involve changes in land use, incentives, taxes and investments that efficiently reduce vulnerability and risk, increase adaptive capacity and build resilience. For more than a decade, the research and development program at the Advanced Energy and Material Systems Lab (AEMSLab) has focused on Transition Engineering. The first Transition Engineering project assesses vulnerability and risk to essential activities from oil supply contraction in the near and long term. The risk assessment method employs a probabilistic model of future fuel availability and an impact model of travel behavior adaptation to meet the probable fuel constraint. The second project is to assess travel adaptive capacity of current travel behavior and of the current urban forms using a new kind of travel survey, and to develop adaptation models for different urban development scenarios. Another important analysis is the active mode accessibility of the current urban form. The model uses GIS data and an activity model based on the demographic profile. Future urban form development, technology and infrastructure investments and behavior change are modeled using the strategic analysis method.
