Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to examine the role of cognitive diversity on strategic issue interpretation among the boards of directors making sense of sustainability management. The study also investigated the centrality of the corporate sustainability issues to identify common interpretative patterns in the shared cognitive maps among the companies. In addition, the aim was to advance quantitative methods for the analysis of decision-makers’ cognition. Design/methodology/approach The research was an exploratory study analyzing 43 individual cognitive maps collected through surveys from the boards of nine cleantech companies. For the elicitation of the cognitive maps, the study used the hybrid cognitive mapping technique. The diversity of the shared cognitive maps was analyzed using the distance ratio formula and the graph analysis method with eigenvector to measure the centrality of the strategic issue interpretation in the maps. Findings This study provides evidence through the analysis of distance ratios on the existence of cognitive diversity among companies within the same industry. Surprisingly, despite the cognitive diversity, the study identified strong common patterns on strategic issue interpretations among the companies. In addition, the study shows that the sustainability management issues have gained minor attention from the boards of directors. Research limitations/implications The initial industry sample provided relatively restricted perspectives on managerial cognition, and to confirm the findings regarding the effects of industry on the shared cognitive maps of top decision-makers, wider industry-level data are needed. Practical implications This study provides an approach to facilitate the process of strategic decision-making for top decision-makers by identifying the shared beliefs of the selected strategic theme and to concentrate on the most central strategic issues in the company and industry. It reveals asymmetry between the significance of sustainability issues in an open agenda and the real position of sustainability concepts in the shared cognitive maps in the green industry. Also, the study advances cognitive mapping techniques for application in the board’s decision-making. Originality/value This paper contributes to brightening the black box of corporate governance by shedding light on the interaction of the concepts of corporate sustainability and other key strategic issues within the shared cognitive maps of the boards. It also provides new empirical knowledge on top decision-making processes and the effects of cognitive diversity on the strategic issue interpretations within the corporate boards of the green industry, and it further develops the methodology for the quantification of cognitive diversity and the content of cognitive maps.

Abstract:
This exploratory research examined a four-day interpreter training program in Japan for impacts on participants’ self-reported increases in knowledge and skills. Pre-, during-, and post-training open-ended questionnaires were administered to all 17 participants. Results showed the training program was effective at increasing knowledge of interpretation's definitions, principles, and goals. Participants indicated extended opportunities for understanding the profession as a whole, as well as how to operationalize interpretation and develop strategic outcomes would increase the overall effectiveness of trainings. Future training programs could use a strategic reflection process to emphasize skill development in the design and delivery of interpretation. Results derived from this empirical research provide a guideline for developing a training framework contextualized to the practice of interpretation in Japan.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to describe strategic improvisation, a contemporary concept and approach based on the creative arts and organizational crisis theory, as a valuable approach for communication professionals. Strategic improvisation combines the need for planning and structure with creative action, and is a normative idea of how to work in an efficient way. Design/methodology/approach The concept is developed in a collaborative project between a major Swedish communications agency and a university scholar. The empirical foundation consists of 25 qualitative interviews with a strategic selection of successful communication professionals, identified as typical strategic improvisers. Findings An analysis of the interviews led to 11 defining patterns or themes typical for strategic improvisation and strategic improvisers. The interviews and the theoretical framework is the foundation of a communication model. Strategic improvisation is defined as a situational interpretation within a given framework. The model has three interconnected parts: a clear framework (composition), a professional interpretation (interpretation) and a situational adaptation based on given possibilities and conditions (improvisation). Research limitations/implications This is not a peer reviewed paper, but a paper in the section “In Practice,” directed toward communication professionals. Originality/value The ideas and model are connected to theories of improvisation, especially in music, which is rare in the field of communication management, and developed in a collaborative project between practice and research.

An extension of her exhibition review “Image of the Bauhaus” from two years before, this essay was the first to foreground how the Bauhaus was being historicized, even as that history was still in formation. Her method is aphoristic, as she assembles an arsenal of quotations and phrases culled from the press and various other publications. Through strategic juxtaposition, as well as recourse to an unstated personal involvement in the history that she discusses, she demonstrates the emergence and consolidation of various Bauhaus mythologies.

Abstract:
The aim of the study is to systematize scientific approaches to the interpretation of the concept of "economic potential", to prove the need for their conceptualization with the separation of resource-production, resource-strategic, production-strategic components and the formation of appropriate concepts on this basis. The article, based on a study of the approaches of scientists to the interpretation of the concept of "economic potential", found that the developed approaches have significant differences, and therefore there is a need for their conceptualization. Relevant concepts have been formed: resource-production, resource-strategic, production-strategic and resource-production-strategic. It is established that the resource-production concept provides a combination of economic resources and their optimal use with the ability to achieve maximum production. The resource-strategic concept involves the use of a set of resources in the process of solving problems for the future. Production and strategic concept involves the use of a set of elements with defined functions to ensure the production process and achieve strategic goals. The resource-production-strategic concept envisages the use of a set of economic resources and production opportunities to achieve the development goals of the business entity. It has been substantiated that the economic potential of the business entity is formed by two interrelated components: internal (resource-production, which reflects the potential of the business entity to produce goods (works, services)) and external (which characterizes the market). opportunities for the sale of such goods (works, services) to consumers and income). The formation of the resource-production-strategic concept in the interpretation of the concept of "economic potential" the authors put the classical approaches (production, marketing, resource), taking into account the concept of "economic potential" is defined as a set of resources and opportunities. relations can be used to the maximum in the process of solving strategic tasks. It is established that the prospect of further scientific developments in this direction is the study of structural components of economic potential and features of its formation and evaluation at different levels of economic systems.

Full text
Abstract:
The author explains and proves that in epochal changes at the crossroads of centuries and millennia, there are two similar, but in many ways different processes: transit and transition. Transit means the passage of some parts of the state through a complex and unique state in the direction of international independence. From an empirical perspective, transit proceeds in two ways: peacefully or in a conflict or. Transit is, in fact, another name for separation or secession. Transit secession in one state shapes several independent states. In that sense, transit is the exteriorization of national politics, its internationalization and geopoliticization. Although it manifests dramatically, tragically and catastrophically in the secession conflict, in the theoretical discourse of social, national and state changes, transit is covered by the process of transition. Therefore, the author recognizes three approaches to the relationship between transit and transition: transit that is partially differentiated from transition; transit that is fully differentiated from transition and transit equated to transition. The author advocates a clear and principled distinction between the phenomenon of transit and the phenomenon of transition. Finally, the paper emphasizes the chronopolitical moment of geopolitical metamorphoses in which transit precedes and in many ways determines the later transition. Transition as a socio-economic process, i.e. the political-economic structural transformation of the socialist into the capitalist society cannot be sufficiently understood without understanding the previous events of transit. It is precisely the Yugoslav case of the disintegration of a complex state that could be instructive for the current EU integration, and also certain multinational and mononational states that face the danger of extreme regionalism, autonomy and separatism.

Abstract:
Any theory may include partially and/or completely non-elucidated problems. If these are confirmed in practice, for a given time, such problems are presented as ‘laws' and after, ‘forgotten'. Of course, new theories may elucidate some of these problems but may also open some new other non-elucidated problems. The paper presents a number of such problems and tries to give a new theoretical and physical interpretation based on the energy transfer postulate and on some personal experiments. Then, some as the old problem of a bullet trajectory and the (actual) problems of mechanical and gravitational forces/torques, inertia, supposed gravitationally polarized materials similar to electrets and magnets, Dirac monopole, curvature, wetware waves and some mysterious possibilities of our brain are presented. It can also be observed that the energy transfer postulate accepts the fact that the speed of the light is the maximum possible speed for any physical object that move by inertia having (ideally) a zero-mean value of energy exchanged with the local fields and also that speeds greater than the light speed need a special energy to be realized. Associated with a good and convenient technology, all these are of strategic importance. Applications may be found in strategic forecast, interplanetary telecommunications and treks but also for earth vehicles and life. The presented tools may be used for modeling the fields and matter structures but also to insure their more comprehensive understanding.

Full text
Abstract:
In The Interpretation of Dreams, Freud refers several times to Artemidorus’s dream book Oneirocritica dating back to the second century ce as a precursor of his own book. This article explores the meaning of this reference by analysing the interrelations between philological scholarship and emerging psychoanalysis in late nineteenth-century Vienna. Freud's own reading of Artemidorus’s text developed in a critical dialogue with the work of the Austrian philologist Theodor Gomperz and his student Friedrich S. Krauss, who produced the first modern German translation of the Oneirocritica. The symbolic method of the ancient dream books, adapted by Freud in later editions of The Interpretation of Dreams for sexual symbolism, did however also inspire dissenting interpretations within the early psychoanalytic movement. Freud's turn to sexual folklore and ethnography, embodied by Krauss's later studies, played a strategic role in these conflicts over dream interpretation.

Abstract:
The article discusses possible expert-analytical approaches to the formation of concepts for the road sector development, depending on the capabilities of the participants involved in specific work programs implementation processes and the formation of an infrastructural basis for their successful implementation. At the first stage of a model for determining the preferred option for strategic modeling forming, the initial opportunities and prospective trends in the employment of each participant in the development of the road sector are analyzed, aimed at reliable support in the operational condition of the roads. The cross-section and combination of perspective trends of different participants form the so-called local strategies of possible options for their activities planning. Information processing of local strategies is possible using various approaches - mathematical data processing, expert analysis or graphical interpretation. The choice of the best cumulative strategy for the activity of participants is carried out according to the criterion of minimizing the costs of their activities.

Though interpreting is to a great extent about the interlinguistic reproduction of arguments, argumentation theory is almost completely overlooked by interpreting studies, which partly explains the frequent production of pragmatically inappropriate interpreted texts. Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to empirically explore the relationship between individuals’ shared core knowledge within a firm and a collective understanding of management’s strategic priorities. Design/methodology/approach The study develops three sets of competing hypotheses to predict how three different aspects of individuals’ shared core knowledge – extent, diversity and interpretation – are related to their understanding of the organization’s strategic priorities. The hypotheses are tested using a cognitive mapping approach within the context of a manufacturing plant in the USA. Findings Organizational members with a lower proportion of shared core knowledge exhibit a greater appreciation of the firm’s strategic priorities. More diversity in this shared knowledge is associated with a greater appreciation of strategic priorities and when members agree on the relative importance of different types of knowledge, whether they actually share this knowledge, they have a better understanding of the firm’s strategic priorities. Research limitations/implications The study uses data from a single firm in one industry. Originality/value This research helps to highlight and empirically isolate different aspects of shared knowledge that influence individuals’ understanding of organizational priorities. It also demonstrates the varying importance of different aspects of shared knowledge (e.g. extent, diversity and interpretation in explaining individuals’ understanding of the firm’s strategic priorities.

Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to explore professional soccer coaches’ interpretations of features suggesting players’ game understanding across the age phases of professional academy youth soccer in England, with particular attention paid to the role of strategic understanding. Semistructured interviews were conducted with coaches (n = 19) of players aged 9–23 years to better understand how coaches understand and apply methods to develop players’ strategic game understanding. Data revealed that coaches prioritized the technical and tactical development of their players over strategic development. However, across the age phases, coaches encountered challenges with coaching for strategic understanding (i.e., maintaining control of the game, players as problem solvers, player reflection, and coaching individuals within a team). The authors suggest that coaches and program designers need to show more intent toward developing players’ strategic understanding, becoming more purposeful when choosing “how” to develop this. In particular, coaches should consider how coaching methods that seek to develop players’ metacognitive game skills can be applied, with the goal of developing self-aware, flexible, and independent players as learners who demonstrate an appropriately “deep” understanding of the game.

Abstract:
The focus of the analysis lies on the deconstruction of media messages in mass media discourse. The justification of approaches to promote the strategic media framing explains the implementation potential of media texts through linguo-cognitive, genre and contextual analysis. In order to identify patterns of media and attributive agenda the mechanisms of media framing are actively involved in the construction of a media text, while the establishment of a media frame is ment as a reflection of the reality in the minds of the recipient audience. The construction of media frames is also associated with cognitive-evaluative and affective coordinates in the reception and interpretation of events, situations, scenarios, value relations, etc. The theoretical significance of the studied issues lies in the essential understanding of the media framing and its socio-political and economic features, as well as its role in the agenda setting based on the reflection of modern media texts in the Russian quality press (Nezavisimaya Gazeta). Appealing to the theory of attributive agenda setting, this allows to get close to a comprehensive idea of the editorial and publication policy. The attributive agendas in diverse media resources are not coincided by thematic stories that can be quite indicative by understanding the fact, how particular media resource is loyal to the authorities, how it reflects the specifics of the editorial policy and its thematic specialization. So the formation of attributive agendas is a higher level of interpretation of reality that arises in the common media agenda (agenda setting). In general, the intentional structuring of information and the reception of the reality, as well as the study of interaction mechanisms as a behavioral matrix, fit well into the modern media practice of communicative actions of individual actors and social groups

Abstract:
The article analyzes the definitions of the concept "digital economy". The study considers the strategic planning documents of the different states, dedicated to the project of digital economy, as the object of investigation. The subject of research is the interpretation of the category "digital economy". The theoretical and methodological issues in the study of the digital economy are considered. The paper makes an attempt to substantiate the problems that will follow in the implementation of the strategy under the conditions of a weak methodological basis for describing the existing techno-economic picture of the world. Among such problems, we emphasize the lack of attention to the production relations in the presented interpretations. We consider that building a digital economy, as a high-tech production ecosystem, will not do without understanding the essence of a new type of production relations. Without this understanding, it will be problematic to build the institutional basis of the digital economy and to create a regulatory framework to control emerging relationships in the digital economy. The paper critically analyzes the existing interpretations of the digital economy, presented in the strategic planning documents, and reveals the author's understanding of the studied category.

Abstract:
Current interpretations of strategic environmental assessment (SEA) revolve around two main ideas. Firstly, SEA is seen as a concept for improving decision making through the assessment of environmental and potentially other impacts, not following any prescribed form, thus being flexible and leaving ample space for different interpretation. Secondly, a more rational view is taken and SEA is regarded a systematic instrument for improving decision making through assessment of the environmental and potentially other impacts, following a prescribed set of procedural stages and possibly other methodological aspects. Adopting the argument of the latter idea, this paper suggests that SEA performance criteria are not equally valid for every SEA, but differ for three distinct SEA types; policy-SEA, plan-SEA and programme-SEA. In order to provide empirical evidence, 25 assessments for transport and spatial/land use policies, plans and programmes (PPPs) are evaluated, based on the performance criteria introduced by the International Association for Impact Assessment (IAIA) at the Glasgow meeting in 1999 and endorsed in November 2001.

Abstract:
AbstractManaging foreign affairs is in no small measure about anticipating the actions (and non-actions) of others, and about taking steps to limit the unexpected—and the undesired. Law has long been recognized as important to these tasks. Nevertheless, standard IR treatments often overlook important properties of law, even when trying to account for international law's effects on behavior. Chief among these overlooked properties is the fact that legal rules are formulated for general use, which means their provisions lack determinate meaning in relation to the full range of facts they may be applied to. Selecting and using legal rules to guide or assess behavior thus requires interpretation. Self-interested actors may differ regarding the applicability, scope, or meaning of individual rules, and still more so where multiple legal rules are in play. In situations where political stakes are high, powerful actors may not be content to leave all options on the table. Instead they may use interpretative tactics to mingle obligations from different agreements and, where needed, to augment relevant legal obligations in efforts to prospectively ensure, in the mode of Riker's heresthetics, that interlocutors feel compelled by legal circumstances to enact the more powerful actor's preferences. I demonstrate how agreement mingling and augmentation function in complex legal environments by reexaming US efforts to insulate its citizens from unwanted exercises of jurisdiction by the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Abstract:
Daft and Weick (1984) suggest that individual-level interpretations of top strategic managers can be expected to converge into an organizational interpretation because managers use identical cognitive schemata when making their personal interpretations. The primary purpose of this paper is to adapt the well-accepted interpersonal attribution schema to an organizational context to determine whether Daft and Weick's convergence argument is plausible. We conclude that the common phenomena of informational equivocality and bias make the existence of shared schemata a necessary but not sufficient condition for the convergence of interpretations. Therefore, studies in the organizational literature which rely on the convergence argument fail to sufficiently establish a linkage between individual cognition and organizational action.

Abstract:
To some, the relation between bidirectional optimality theory and game theory seems obvious: strong bidirectional optimality corresponds to Nash equilibrium in a strategic game (Dekker and van Rooij 2000). But in the domain of pragmatics this formally sound parallel is conceptually inadequate: the sequence of utterance and its interpretation cannot be modelled reasonably as a strategic game, because this would mean that speakers choose formulations independently of a meaning that they want to express, and that hearers choose an interpretation irrespective of an utterance that they have observed. Clearly, the sequence of utterance and interpretation requires a dynamic game model. One such model, and one that is widely studied and of manageable complexity, is a signaling game. This paper is therefore concerned with an epistemic interpretation of bidirectional optimality, both strong and weak, in terms of beliefs and strategies of players in a signaling game. In particular, I suggest that strong optimality may be regarded as a process of internal self-monitoring and that weak optimality corresponds to an iterated process of such self-monitoring. This latter process can be derived by assuming that agents act rationally to (possibly partial) beliefs in a self-monitoring opponent.

Abstract:
At the present stage of development of the Ukrainian economic system, the concept of "strategy" and its appropriate application by modern enterprises is becoming increasingly important. As a country of the former Soviet Union, Ukraine is undergoing a complex process of transformation, complicated by the decline of small and medium-sized businesses in global pandemic, military events in the east, inflation, and significant wear and tear of equipment and technology. Given all these factors, it is reasonable to assume that competitiveness in both foreign and domestic markets is declining. Increasingly, modern enterprises face the problem of identifying and choosing a strategy, because every company usually has a mission and goal, but unfortunately, not every manager understands that strategy plays an important role in implementing the plan, especially when it comes to enterprise development. That is why, in the context of the intellectualization of the economy, it is necessary to focus on strategic management of modern enterprises and try to develop innovative areas of economic activity. This study aims to generalize various interpretations of the term "strategy" with the subsequent proposal of its own interpretation in the context of strategic management of enterprise development. In the course of the research the significance of strategic development management for modern Ukrainian enterprises was considered and the own interpretation of the concept of "strategy" was offered. The results of the study are of practical significance for the production enterprise LLC "Odetex", as the strategy proposed in the article will create a kind of "foundation" for the implementation of the company's goals, further development and acquisition of new markets. Thus, in the context of the intellectualization of the economy, strategy and strategic management of the development of modern Ukrainian enterprises are an integral part of effective functioning in both domestic and foreign markets.

Abstract:
Three experiments investigated the tendency of high-anxiety individuals to interpret ambiguous information in a threatening fashion. Priming ambiguous sentences (concerned with ego-threat, physical-threat, or non-threat events) were presented, followed by a disambiguating sentence in which a target word either confirmed or disconfirmed the consequence implied by the priming context. The sentences were presented word-by-word at a predetermined pace. Subjects read the sentences and pronounced the target word (naming task), which appeared either 500 msec or 1,250 msec after the onset of the last word (pre-target word) in the priming context. Results indicated that high-anxiety subjects named target words confirming threats faster than low-anxiety subjects, relative to non-threat words. Furthermore, this interpretative bias is: (a) strategic, rather than automatic, as it occurred with a 1,250-msec SOA, but not with a 500-msec SOA; (b) temporary, as it was found under evaluative stress conditions increasing state anxiety, but not with non-stress; and (c) specific to ego-threats, as it happened with ambiguous information concerning self-esteem and social evaluation, rather than with physical-threat-related information.

Abstract:
The article considers the systematic and complex development of the term “management of strategic development of the enterprise”, which occurs through a consistent combination of developments of scientists and business representatives. It is argued that modern views and knowledge on the management of strategic development in the current socio-economic conditions significantly affect the effectiveness of the strategic management system and the development of domestic enterprises. The interpretation of leading domestic and foreign scholars on the interpretation of the concepts of “strategy”, “strategic development management”, “strategic planning” is considered. Attention is paid to anti-crisis strategic management at various levels, namely through the corporate level, the level of first managers, functional level (finance, marketing, product and production policy), linear level (heads of departments, representative offices, branches). In scientific work much attention is paid to the corporate strategy of the enterprise taking into account the influence of internal and external factors in order to develop optimal options for operational, tactical and strategic management decisions, which should focus on monitoring and controlling all types of enterprises to prevent crises. The paper proposes measures of corporate strategy, which should form a set of tools for cross-functional integration of the enterprise by achieving synergies, promote participation of all departments in the development of new enterprise strategy, management of strategic initiatives and changes, integration of strategic priorities and coordination of human resources. It is argued that the management of strategic development, aimed at creating competitive advantages of the enterprise and the establishment of an effective strategic position that will ensure the future viability of the enterprise in changing conditions. The choice of strategy in strategic management is related to the state of key factors, which include the strengths of the industry and the enterprise, purpose, mission, the interests of senior management, employee skills. The dynamic process of strategic management of the enterprise is the umbrella under which the enterprise can confidently move towards the goal, despite the adverse effects of the environment.

Full text
Abstract:
This paper analyses the strategic behaviour of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and identifies the entrepreneurial, technological, and administrative problems of the Miles and Snow typology (1978). This typology is applied to a sample of SMEs in the Canary Islands (Spain) by using a multi-item questionnaire. Then, the Rasch Measurement Theory is applied to obtain the results, with the linear continuum as a key tool. By applying the Rasch Measurement, there is a coherency between the data treatment and the new interpretation of the Miles and Snow typology (1978), which lists 4 types that are close to trends than to pure types (for example, Sollosy 2013). There are differences between the administrative and the technological problems, with their technological approach being more prospector and their administrative one, which is more defender. This shows an almost absence of enterprises with purely defender or prospector behaviours. These results show that SMEs do not follow any comprehensive framework in order to develop their strategies. Managers should analyse their strategic situation and consider the alignment of the three problems.

Abstract:
The study seeks to find out what changes are taking place in strategy in Koforidua Polytechnic and why? The methodology used in the study is based on qualitative approaches of documentary analysis. Data is collected through a content analysis of relevant documents. The scope of the study is limited to the researcher's interpretation of the strategic changes identified and articulated in official polytechnic documents. A framework for assessing and modeling changes in strategy provided by Ginsberg (1988) is adapted to suit the higher education context and applied in the analysis. The adapted framework is used as a tool to conceptualize changes in strategy in Koforidua Polytechnic. The findings indicate significant changes in strategy in Koforidua Polytechnic. The leadership of the polytechnic has introduced new strategic directions for the polytechnic, focusing on the provision of infrastructure facilities, improving financial resource mobilization, promoting research, strengthening collaborative partnership at home and abroad, and promoting good governance and planning. External and internal conditions provide pressure for the shift in strategic direction. The change in direction is a necessary measure which ensures the future of the polytechnic. Abstract:
Road networks are the key element for economic growth in every country. It is essential for project a strategic and sustained expansion and an adequate maintenance of these networks to guarantee quality connections between the different parts of a geographical territory. Road enables the supply of goods and services around the world and it connect the people to workplaces, schools, hospitals and some other places in the geographical area. Road infrastructure improves the effectiveness and efficiency of all the countries and increases the standard living of people, making their lives easier. In this paper we proposed to design the road network map for Erode district using QGIS (Quantum Geographic Information System). We identified and classified various type of road network for that particular area. In this map we include what kind of road network is available and also explained the purpose of the each type of road network.

Abstract:
Amidst a high and increasing level of ambiguity, the quality of strategic management when ensuring the achievement by an enterprise of a sustainable development trajectory becomes particularly important. The issues of formation and efficient implementation of the strategic management mechanism bring into focus the task of finding tools for assessing the quality of strategic management. Meanwhile, the agenda of developing the tools to assess the quality of strategic management of an enterprise from the standpoint of achieving a sustainable development trajectory under ambiguity remains poorly understood. In this regard, the purpose of this study is to improve the quality of strategic management of industrial enterprises operating under uncertainty by developing and testing on the example of individual enterprises of the Donetsk region a toolkit for assessing the quality of strategic management in the context of an enterprise achieving a sustainable development trajectory. To reach this goal, this study uses a synthesis of systemic, cybernetic and synergetic approaches. For this purpose, within the framework of the study, a conceptualization of the main notions was carried out and theoretical and methodological approaches to the interpretation of the notions of “strategic management,” “sustainable development” and “strategic uncertainty” were proposed. Based on the author’s approaches to the interpretation of the main notions, it was suggested to assess the quality of strategic management in terms of the goal of such management, which is to achieve a sustainable development trajectory. Using the author’s approach, an assessment was made of the quality of strategic management of industrial enterprises in the Donetsk region in the context of their achievement of sustainable development. Approbation of the proposed tools led to the conclusion that the integral assessment indicator for all analyzed enterprises did not have an unambiguous and unidirectional downward trend. The foregoing indicates the absence of a stable trend towards the attractor for the analyzed period for all the enterprises in question, which makes highly topical the search for reserves to increase the efficiency of strategic management of industrial enterprises in the Donetsk region, which constitute the prospect for further research.

Abstract:
AbstractThe Story of the Hats is a puzzle in social epistemology. It describes a situation in which a group of rational agents with common priors and common goals seems vulnerable to a Dutch book if they are exposed to different information and make decisions independently. Situations in which this happens involve violations of what might be called the Group-Reflection Principle. As it turns out, the Dutch book is flawed. It is based on the betting interpretation of the subjective probabilities, but ignores the fact that this interpretation disregards strategic considerations that might influence betting behavior. A lesson to be learned concerns the interpretation of probabilities in terms of fair bets and, more generally, the role of strategic considerations in epistemic contexts. Another lesson concerns Group-Reflection, which in its unrestricted form is highly counter-intuitive. We consider how this principle of social epistemology should be re-formulated so as to make it tenable.
