Full textAs part of an investigation of revolutionary identity in the XIX century, declined on the activists involved in the Paris Commune, it was to select those life-stories written and published by the Communards as part of their political activity, and thus to pose the problem of the relationship between autobiographical practice and revolution, clarify the conditions of passage au récit, the autobiographical choice and the mise en intrigue of the individual experiences and revolution. This research thus provides an inquiry of the autobiographical practices within the practices of political activism, or more specifically on the relationship between autobiographical narratives and revolution. I analyse the way in which the revolutionaries told their identity in public, the reasons why they had done and what they spreaded in terms of lifestyles and beliefs. As revolutionaries, the autobiography becomes a source and a part of what they considered their revolutionary path, the narrative of what at that time they believed to communicate to the public as their own narrative identity. The research is divided into three parts. In the first chapter I analyse the biographies, or rather a small group among the mass of published biographies of Communards after the Commune. These biographical narratives help address one of the fundamental conditions for the passage au récit which will be appeared only later. The second and third chapters are dedicated to two autobiographical practices of different nature: the autobiographical trilogy of Jules Vallès (1879, 1881, 1886) and Memoirs of Louise Michel (1886).

Full textIn this very moment, many people in the world are disclosing to themselves, to a friend, to a parent or also to strangers their sexual or gender identity. Coming out is one of the most theorised and discussed feature of LGBTQ life; in particular, in western society- a solid heteronormative and cisgender context- disclosing a stigmatised identity, is perceived as a crucial step. The coming out is profoundly embedded within the social and cultural context, producing different narratives in different parts of the world. It can be analysed as strong political action, as well as a performative speech act, or also a relational phenomenon in which both the producer and the receiver are equally accountable. In coming out narrative we can see how gay, lesbian, transgender and queer subjectivities are formed through self-narrative, an alternative tool used as a venue for making sense of marginalized identities. In other words, coming out narratives are the voice of disregarded social groups which create a new language to narrate a story about the self. This lingo may contribute to shape a new society. Despite rapidly shifting social dynamics, which led, in the words of some scholars, to the emergence of a post-closet era, still scarce attention has been paid to the different subjectivities in the LGBTQ community. The erroneous overlapping of gay/lesbian/bi and trans experiences may lead us to miss the processual nature of coming out, for LGB people, and the double nature of coming out, for transgender ones. In light of such arguments, this dissertation research was constructed to explore coming out narrative revealing that there isn’t a universal mode to come out, every story is unique and carries multiple narrations, which describe the uniqueness of every experience and identity in the LGBTQ community.

Full textThe thesis analyzes within the framework of the Second World War four case studies selected among the works of reconstruction of the architect Josef Wiedemann (1910-2001) in the center of Munich: Odeon (1951-1952), Alte Akademie (1951-1955), Siegestor (1956-1958) e Glyptothek (1961-1972). The architect is responsible for the recontruction of some significant buildings in Munich, addressing them as a fundamental theme in the history and identity of the Bavarian people, but above all as an opportunity to define a method of intervention on the ruins of war. His work is characterized by the constant investigation for a synthesis between the need of the preservation of heritage and the innovation; Wiedemann is inspired by the teaching of Hans Döllgast and he tracks a new original way for the intervention on heritage, marked by a deep capacity for technical planning and attention to the requirements to be observed in contemporary architecture. Starting from his writings and his works, one can detect a coherent way of intervention, starting from the knowledge of the building's history, tracing the evolution from the "original" state to the ruin: the architectural project produces a synthesis between the past and the future. The architect, in the vision of Wiedemann, is called to a task of great responsibility: to project an intervention on a building that bears the signs of its story. In the method that will be progressively carried out working on the “body” of the monuments wounded by the war, is perceptible the interest and influence of the Italian debate on restoration. The “living preservation” of historic building – as it's defined by Wiedemann himself – comes in different ways for each particular case, arriving at different results between them, but they have in common some basic principles: to know, to remember, and keep innovating

Full textNowadays, the financial guarantees system of insurance market is being interested by a Community reform process (Solvency II project). Even if the current hypothesis are far to be definitive, the present guidelines state that the Solvency Capital Requirement (SCR) related to Interest Rate Risk (IRR) has to be quantified assuming deterministic shocks to the yield curve. The aim of the thesis is to improve the assessment of SCR connected to IRR, calculating interest rates according to Cox, Ingersoll and Ross (cir) stochastic model. Simulations are developed on the asset liability equilibria of a theoretical life insurance company, in order to better appreciate the SCR algebra sensitivity to changes in CIR model parameters.

Full textThe past few decades have been marked by a significant increase in the percentage of immigrants detained in prisons in Europe, disproportionate incidence of foreigners in the concerned territory. In Italy the phenomenon of over- representation of immigrants in prisons has a vey important dimension , that has attracted the interest of the sociological and criminological literature , research-oriented interest of its causes. The present work aims to investigate not the causes, but the effects of the experience of imprisonment on immigrants’s lives. Specifically, we’ll examine two main lines of interpretation, both included inside the internal current of Marxism, and we’ll pay attention to the correlation between the labor market and the prison system . According to the literature, the prison is a main entrance to the Social Contract for the new working class , made up of immigrants now a days. In fact, inside the jail, they have the opportunity to benefit from certain forms of welfare , accessing services and opportunities (health care , education and literacy , regular employment and job training ) from them - especially if irregular - they generally are excluded in condition of freedom in Italy. A different approach has argued instead that the detention of immigrants performs a function merely neutralizing aimed at their definitive exclusion from the social context . Inquire to what " offers " the penitentiary to immigrants and migrant life stories collected from offenders in the Prison of Capanne ( PG ), this work aims to understand what function the prison plays today against immigrants , and especially if it represents today a first step in the process of inclusion of the new working class , which has become a place of neutralization , with the advent of post-Fordist production system, a place of storage of excess workers.

Full textThis work aims to investigate the housing pathway of migrants, paying attention to the variety of different features from which they are shaped over time and their interaction with structural dimensions, as housing market and policies. Through the use of different methodological instruments, this research tries to gather the complexity concerning the dimension of home in migrants’ experience. The fieldwork, a neighborhood in Southern Milan, has been chosen for two main reasons: in the one hand it is characterized by a considerable presence of migrants at different stages of their migration experience, on the other hand it has been interested by urban renovation programs and social interventions promoted by private and public actors. Individual experiences are thus investigated, alongside with spatial phenomena, policies and interventions. Achieving these different fields of interest implied the utilization of life story interviews, ethnographic observation, key informants interviews and participatory maps. This last technique constitutes a methodological innovation. The purpose is to suggest a new approach in analyzing housing pathway, both from a theoretical and methodological perspective. In addition the research aims to reflect on the efficacy and limits of housing and immigration policies drawing on evidence based data.
