Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:
The conceptual problems of the formation of the national doctrine of unitarism are covered. Recognizing the fact that the most multifaceted and complex problem is the establishment of the optimal form of government in Ukraine, it is proposed to introduce a separate vector in national constitutional science and education. In spite of the fact that in the field of political and legal science in general and modern constitutionalism, the issue of unitarism is quite actively discussed by scholars, scientists, politicians and public figures, the scientific knowledge in this field remains extremely controversial and fragmentary. Analyzing the complex of essential and substantive characteristics of unitarism as a phenomenon of modern constitutional law, outlines perspective directions of development of the unitarian doctrine. The synergistic connection between the theory of modern unitarism, the principles of unitarity of the state territory and the fundamental institutions of political-legal and state-administrative life of modern unitary states is shown. It proves that the unitary system is not only one of the important components of the process of achieving the tasks, goals and functions of most modern states, but also an immanent feature and strategic element of the mechanism of exercising their sovereign rights. Considering that unitarism is a multidimensional socio-political and constitutional phenomenon: it is an idea, a theory, a scientific direction, and a global social and constitutional practice, and a constitutional form of the existence and functioning of territorial communities, and the historical state of national statehood and Ukrainian regional civilization, and the form of realization of national identity and citizenship, etc., concludes the relevance and necessity of forming a unitarist discourse in modern constitutional law science and education. In the opinion of the author, consistent conceptualization and institutionalization of the unitarist doctrine will allow us to understand the deep processes that determine the emergence of the phenomenon of national unitarism, testify to the enormous civilizational role and axiological, ontological, epistemological, functional and psycho-logical features in the course of its political structuring, formation of market economy relations, implementation of eco-humanistic national security and defence.

Abstract:

The synergetic relationship between the doctrines of modern unitarism or federalism, theprinciples of unitarism or federalism of the state territory and the fundamental institutions of the political, legal and state-administrativelife of modern unitary and federal states is shown. It is proved that the state system is not only one of the important components of theprocess of achieving the tasks, goals and functions of modern states, but also an immanent sign and a strategic element of themechanism for the realization of their sovereign rights.Given the unitarity of the Ukrainian state, special emphasis is placed on the importance of the principles of unitarism in thefunctioning of the constitutional system of Ukraine. The complexity, importance and relatively widespread use of unitarity as a form ofgovernment is causing a lively and ever-growing scientific interest in it throughout the world. It proves that the unitary system is not only one of the important components of the process of accomplishing the tasks, goals and functions of most modern states, but also an immanent feature and strategic element of the mechanism of exercising their sovereign rights. Methods. The methodological basis encompasses philosophico-ideological, general scientific principles and approaches and special scientific methods of inquiry for constitutional and legal phenomena and processes. The philosophico-ideological basis of the study is the position of dialectics, on the basis of which the causes and factors of the evolution of unitarism are thoroughly investigated. In general, the research was conducted on the basis of a combination of ontological, epistemological and axiological analysis of contemporary unitarism. Results. Abstract:
AbstractWe introduce a task that we call partial decoupling, in which a bipartite quantum state is transformed by a unitary operation on one of the two subsystems and then is subject to the action of a quantum channel. We assume that the subsystem is decomposed into a direct-sum-product form, which often appears in the context of quantum information theory. The unitary is chosen at random from the set of unitaries having a simple form under the decomposition. The goal of the task is to make the final state, for typical choices of the unitary, close to the averaged final state over the unitaries. We consider a one-shot scenario, and derive upper and lower bounds on the average distance between the two states. The bounds are represented simply in terms of smooth conditional entropies of quantum states involving the initial state, the channel and the decomposition. Thereby we provide generalizations of the one-shot decoupling theorem. The obtained result would lead to further development of the decoupling approaches in quantum information theory and fundamental physics.

Abstract:
Recent works have investigated the emergence of a new kind of random matrix behaviour in unitary dynamics following a quantum quench. Starting from a time-evolved state, an ensemble of pure states supported on a small subsystem can be generated by performing projective measurements on the remainder of the system, leading to a projected ensemble. In chaotic quantum systems it was conjectured that such projected ensembles become indistinguishable from the uniform Haar-random ensemble and lead to a quantum state design. Exact results were recently presented by Ho and Choi [Phys. Rev. Lett. 128, 060601 (2022)] for the kicked Ising model at the self-dual point. We provide an alternative construction that can be extended to general chaotic dual-unitary circuits with solvable initial states and measurements, highlighting the role of the underlying dual-unitarity and further showing how dual-unitary circuit models exhibit both exact solvability and random matrix behaviour. Building on results from biunitary connections, we show how complex Hadamard matrices and unitary error bases both lead to solvable measurement schemes.

Abstract:
We investigate decoupling, one of the most important primitives in quantum Shannon theory, by replacing the uniformly distributed random unitaries commonly used to achieve the protocol, with repeated applications of random unitaries diagonal in the Pauli-Z and -X bases. This strategy was recently shown to achieve an approximate unitary 2-design after a number of repetitions of the process, which implies that the strategy gradually achieves decoupling. Here, we prove that even fewer repetitions of the process achieve decoupling at the same rate as that with the uniform ones, showing that rather imprecise approximations of unitary 2-designs are sufficient for decoupling. We also briefly discuss efficient implementations of them and implications of our decoupling theorem to coherent state merging and relative thermalisation.

Both AdS/CFT duality and more general reasoning from quantum gravity point to a rich collection of boundary observables that always evolve unitarily. The physical quantum gravity states described by these observables must be solutions of the spatial diffeomorphism and Wheeler–De Witt constraints, which implies that the state space does not factorize into a tensor product of localized degrees of freedom. The "firewall" argument that unitarity of black hole S-matrix implies the presence of a highly excited quantum state near the horizon is based on such a factorization, hence is not applicable in quantum gravity. In fact, there appears to be no conflict between boundary unitarity and regularity of the event horizon.

Abstract:
Decoherence is the fundamental obstacle limiting the performance of quantum information processing devices. The problem of transmitting a quantum state (known or unknown) from one place to another is of great interest in this context. In this work, by following the recent theoretical proposal, we study an application of quantum state-dependent pre- and post-processing unitary operations for protecting the given (multi-qubit) quantum state against the effect of decoherence acting on all qubits. We observe the increase in the fidelity of the output quantum state both in a quantum emulation experiment, where all protecting unitaries are perfect, and in a real experiment with a cloud-accessible quantum processor, where protecting unitaries themselves are affected by the noise. We expect the considered approach to be useful for analyzing capabilities of quantum information processing devices in transmitting known quantum states. We also demonstrate the applicability of the developed approach for suppressing decoherence in the process of distributing a two-qubit state over remote physical qubits of a quantum processor.

Abstract:
The teleportation model of quantum computation introduced by Gottesman and Chuang (1999) motivated the development of the Clifford hierarchy. Despite its intrinsic value for quantum computing, the widespread use of magic state distillation, which is closely related to this model, emphasizes the importance of comprehending the hierarchy. There is currently a limited understanding of the structure of this hierarchy, apart from the case of diagonal unitaries (Cui et al., 2017; Rengaswamy et al. 2019). We explore the structure of the second and third levels of the hierarchy, the first level being the ubiquitous Pauli group, via the Weyl (i.e., Pauli) expansion of unitaries at these levels. In particular, we characterize the support of the standard Clifford operations on the Pauli group. Since conjugation of a Pauli by a third level unitary produces traceless Hermitian Cliffords, we characterize their Pauli support as well. Semi-Clifford unitaries are known to have ancilla savings in the teleportation model, and we explore their Pauli support via symplectic transvections. Finally, we show that, up to multiplication by a Clifford, every third level unitary commutes with at least one Pauli matrix. This can be used inductively to show that, up to a multiplication by a Clifford, every third level unitary is supported on a maximal commutative subgroup of the Pauli group. Additionally, it can be easily seen that the latter implies the generalized semi-Clifford conjecture, proven by Beigi and Shor (2010). We discuss potential applications in quantum error correction and the design of flag gadgets.

Abstract:
We present a technique for de-randomizing large deviation bounds of functions on the unitary group. We replace the Haar measure with a pseudo-random distribution, a k -design. k -Designs have the first k moments equal to those of the Haar measure. The advantage of this is that (approximate) k -designs can be implemented efficiently, whereas Haar random unitaries cannot. We find large deviation bounds for unitaries chosen from a k -design and then illustrate this general technique with three applications. We first show that the von Neumann entropy of a pseudo-random state is almost maximal. Then we show that, if the dynamics of the universe produces a k -design, then suitably sized subsystems will be in the canonical state, as predicted by statistical mechanics. Finally we show that pseudo-random states are useless for measurement-based quantum computation.

The Algebraic Bethe Ansatz (ABA) is a highly successful analytical method used to exactly solve several physical models in both statistical mechanics and condensed-matter physics. Here we bring the ABA into unitary form, for its direct implementation on a quantum computer. This is achieved by distilling the non-unitary R matrices that make up the ABA into unitaries using the QR decomposition. Our algorithm is deterministic and works for both real and complex roots of the Bethe equations. We illustrate our method on the spin-12 XX and XXZ models. We show that using this approach one can efficiently prepare eigenstates of the XX model on a quantum computer with quantum resources that match previous state-of-the-art approaches. Abstract:
For both unitary and open qubit dynamics, we compare asymmetry monotone-based bounds on the minimal time required for an initial qubit state to evolve to a final qubit state from which it is probabilistically distinguishable with fixed minimal error probability (i.e., the minimal error distinguishability time). For the case of unitary dynamics generated by a time-independent Hamiltonian, we derive a necessary and sufficient condition on two asymmetry monotones that guarantees that an arbitrary state of a two-level quantum system or a separable state of N two-level quantum systems will unitarily evolve to another state from which it can be distinguished with a fixed minimal error probability δ∈[0,1/2]. This condition is used to order the set of qubit states based on their distinguishability time, and to derive an optimal release time for driven two-level systems such as those that occur, e.g., in the Landau-Zener problem. For the case of non-unitary dynamics, we compare three lower bounds to the distinguishability time, including a new type of lower bound which is formulated in terms of the asymmetry of the uniformly time-twirled initial system-plus-environment state with respect to the generator HSE of the Stinespring isometry corresponding to the dynamics, specifically, in terms of ‖[HSE,ρav(τ)]‖1, where ρav(τ):=1τ∫0τdte−iHSEtρ⊗|0⟩E⟨0|EeiHSEt.

A recent paper [S.Bullock, D.O'Leary, and G.K. Brennen, Phys. Rev. In this work, we present the state-synthesis circuit in much greater detail and prove that it is correct. Further, we present a new algorithm for unitary synthesis, inspired by the QR matrix decomposition, which is also asymptotically optimal.

Given a bipartite quantum state $\rho$ with subsystems $A$ and $B$ of arbitrary dimensions, we study the entanglement detecting capabilities of locally noneffective, or cyclic, unitary operations [Fu, Europhys. Lett., vol. 75]. Local cyclic unitaries have the special property that they leave their target subsystem invariant. We investigate the distance between $\rho$ and the global state after local application of such unitaries as a possible indicator of entanglement. To this end, we derive and discuss closed formulae for the maximal such distance achievable for three cases of interest: (pseudo)pure quantum states, Werner states, and two-qubit states. What makes this criterion interesting, as we show here, is that it surprisingly displays behavior similar to recent anomalies observed for non-locality measures in higher dimensions, as well as demonstrates an equivalence to the CHSH inequality for certain classes of two-qubit states. Yet, despite these similarities, the criterion is not itself a non-locality measure. We also consider entanglement detection in bound entangled states.

Abstract:
Abstract State-building and development are mutually reinforcing phenomena. The sustainability of development depends on the stability of state's political-structural foundation and the prospect of peace, which is influenced by the origin and evolution of the state. Every regime in Ethiopia has portrayed its advent as a new dawn for the country's development. In recent history, the Ethiopian People's Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF) introduced a “developmental state” model and registered notable economic growth on aggregate but failed on accounts of equitable distribution. The EPRDF regime used the “developmental state” model to enhance the centralization of state power and circumvent regional autonomy. In 2018, the Prosperity Party (PP) introduced a “prosperity” model. From the EPRDF to the PP, there are signals of a radical shift of approach in state-building and development. This article analyzes the premises and promises of the multinational federation and “developmental state” model under the EPRDF regime, and the unitarist orientation and “prosperity” paradigm under the PP. I argue that the radical shift of direction from the multinational federalism towards a unitary state is unrealistic and fundamentally shatters the prospect of development.

We construct an algorithm based on RUS circuits that approximates an arbitrary single-qubit $Z$-axis rotation to within distance $\epsilon$, where the number of $T$ gates scales as $1.26\log_2(1/\epsilon) - 3.53$, an improvement of roughly three-fold over state-of-the-art techniques. We then extend our algorithm and show that a scaling of $2.4\log_2(1/\epsilon) - 3.28$ can be achieved for arbitrary unitaries and a small range of $\epsilon$, which is roughly twice as good as optimal deterministic decomposition methods.

Abstract:
We present the problem of approximating the time-evolution operatore−iH^tto errorϵ, where the HamiltonianH^=(⟨G|⊗I^)U^(|G⟩⊗I^)is the projection of a unitary oracleU^onto the state|G⟩created by another unitary oracle. Our algorithm solves this with a query complexityO(t+log⁡(1/ϵ))to both oracles that is optimal with respect to all parameters in both the asymptotic and non-asymptotic regime, and also with low overhead, using at most two additional ancilla qubits. This approach to Hamiltonian simulation subsumes important prior art considering Hamiltonians which ared-sparse or a linear combination of unitaries, leading to significant improvements in space and gate complexity, such as a quadratic speed-up for precision simulations. It also motivates useful new instances, such as whereH^is a density matrix. A key technical result is `qubitization', which uses the controlled version of these oracles to embed anyH^in an invariantSU(2)subspace. A large class of operator functions ofH^can then be computed with optimal query complexity, of whiche−iH^tis a special case.

Abstract:
Abstract Spontaneous symmetry breaking is well understood under equilibrium conditions as a consequence of the singularity of the thermodynamic limit. How a single global orientation of the order parameter dynamically emerges from an initially symmetric state during a phase transition, however, is not captured by this paradigm. Here, we present a series of symmetry arguments suggesting that singling out a global choice for the ordered state is in fact forbidden under unitary time evolution, even in the presence of an environment and infinitesimal symmetry breaking perturbations. We thus argue that the observation of phase transitions in our everyday world presents a manifestation of the unitarity of quantum dynamics itself being spontaneously broken. We argue that this agrees with the observation that Schrödinger’s time dependent equation is rendered unstable for macroscopic objects owing to the same singular thermodynamic limit that affects equilibrium configurations.
