Full text
Abstract:
The textbook presents materials for the manufacture of cutting, stamping, plumbing, auxiliary, control and measuring tools: tool, high-speed and die steels, hard alloys, cutting ceramics, superhard materials. In the second edition, carbide steels, cermets, and heat-resistant alloys for the manufacture of hot deformation dies are additionally considered. The chapter devoted to methods for determining the properties of tool materials has been supplemented with a methodology that establishes the relationship between micro- and macrohardness. The operational and technological properties of materials and areas of their rational use, wear-resistant tool coatings and structural materials for prefabricated, welded and soldered tools are considered. The appendices contain recommendations of state standards on the use of various instrumental materials. Meets the requirements of the latest generation Federal State Educational Standard. It is intended for students of higher educational institutions studying in the areas of training "Technology, equipment and automation of machine-building industries", "Design and technological support of machine-building industries", "Automated technologies and production", "Materials Science and technology of metals". It will be useful for engineers and graduate students of mechanical engineering specialties.

Full text
Abstract:
The textbook reveals the concept and meaning of digital technologies, the legal nature of information interaction in the implementation of control measures based on general theoretical concepts and regulatory legal acts. Special attention is paid to the types of information systems used in the control process in the financial and budgetary sphere. The necessity of creating information systems based on international experience, global indices and rules of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) is justified. The article defines the specific characteristics of the state information systems used in the control (monitoring) in the financial and budgetary sphere, and also considers the subsystems that make up the state integrated information system "Electronic Budget" and other information systems in the information space of the Russian Federation. The article analyzes interdepartmental information interaction and digital methods that ensure the protection of information in the course of financial control. For graduate students, postgraduates and teachers of law and non-legal universities, as well as for practitioners.

Stalnaker, Robert. Dynamic Pragmatics, Static Semantics. Oxford University Press, 2018. http://dx.doi.org/10.1093/oso/9780198738831.003.0014.

Full text
Abstract:
Semantic-pragmatic theorizing took a dynamic turn in the 1970s, but at the time the dynamics remained in the pragmatics and retained a more or less traditional static conception of compositional semantics. Later dynamic semantics built rules for context change into the semantics. This essay argues that the phenomena that motivated the dynamic turn are best explained at the pragmatic level, retaining a notion of propositonal content, and a distinction between content and force. It is argued that while a partial notion of propositional content can be recovered from a dynamic conception of semantic value as context-change potential, some information that plays an important role in the broader explanation of discourse is lost. It is then argued that it is important to retain a notion of speech act force, separated from content.

Wassermann, Eric M. Direct current brain polarization. Edited by Charles M. Epstein, Eric M. Wassermann, and Ulf Ziemann. Oxford University Press, 2012. http://dx.doi.org/10.1093/oxfordhb/9780198568926.013.0007.

Full text
Abstract:
The transcranial application of weak direct current (DC) to the brain is an effective neuromodulation technique that has had more than a century of experimental and therapeutic use. Focal DC brain polarization is now undergoing renewed interest, because of the wide acceptance of TMS as a research tool and candidate treatment for brain disorders. The effects of static electrical fields on cortical neurons in vivo have been known since the advent of intracellular recording. These effects are highly selective for neurons oriented longitudinally in the plane of the electric field. DC can enhance cognitive processes occurring in the treated area. The earliest clinical application of DC polarization was in the field of mood disorders. However, due to lack of temporal and spatial resolution, this technique does not appear particularly useful for exploring neurophysiological mechanisms.

Full text
Abstract:
Muons, radioactive particles produced in accelerators, have emerged as an important tool to study problems in condensed matter physics and chemistry. Beams of muons with all their spins polarized can be prepared and implanted in various types of sample. The subsequent precession and relaxation of the spins of these particles can used to investigate a variety of static and dynamic effects in a sample and hence to deduce properties concerning magnetism, superconductivity, molecular or chemical dynamics, and many other properties. The technique was originally the preserve of a few specialists located in particle physics laboratories. Today it is used by scientists from a very wide range of science backgrounds and interests. This book describes the principles behind this technique, discusses various practical aspects necessary for performing experiments, and outlines the different areas of science to which muon spectroscopy can be usefully applied.

Abstract:
This chapter outlines the book’s framework for analysing coalition management under multiparty presidentialism. It defines the concepts of coalition and coalition management, and states the book’s assumptions about the motivations of formateurs. It specifies the five main tools that comprise the multi-dimensional understanding of coalition management: legislative, cabinet, partisan, budget, and informal tools (the ‘exchange of favours’), which are known collectively as the ‘presidential toolbox’. It also outlines the costs associated with the deployment of each tool. Finally, it presents the argument that presidents operate as cost minimizers, and shows that their perceptions of the costs that each tool entails are shaped by a range of systemic-level, coalition-level, and conjunctural factors.

Abstract:
This chapter demonstrates how the Iranian state, far from being the pawn of Western machinations, has varied its stance toward homosexuality in pursuit of its objectives—namely modernization, consolidation, and most recently, deliberalization. In doing so, it has refashioned family and gender relations, positioned itself concerning the imperial appetites of the West, and centralized and expanded its power. To trace how this happened, the chapter anchors the story around three moments in which anti-homosexual rhetoric and practice have been deployed. First is the modernization moment lasting from the early nineteenth century to the onset of the Iranian Revolution in 1979. Second is the Islamic nation-state consolidation moment following the revolution. Third is the conservative backlash following the attempted liberalization of 1997 and persisting until today.

Abstract:
This article discusses the tool kit of economic sociology. It begins by examining two of the most important concepts in modern economic sociology, namely: embeddedness and field. It is followed by a discussion of a sociological concept of interest and an interest-based concept of institutions. The article also presents some arguments posed in the text, one of which states that economic sociology would do well in some respects to follow the example of political economy and pay more attention to analytical economics and its general approach.

Chu, C. Y. Cyrus. Population Dynamics. Oxford University Press, 1998. http://dx.doi.org/10.1093/oso/9780195121582.001.0001.

Full text
Abstract:
Population Dynamics fills the gap between the classical supply-side population theory of Malthus and the modern demand-side theory of economic demography. In doing so, author Cyrus Chu investigates specifically the dynamic macro implications of various static micro family economic decisions. Holding the characteristic composition of the macro population to always be an aggregate result of some corresponding individual micro decision, Chu extends his research on the fertility-related decisions of families to an analysis of other economic determinations. Within this framework, Chu studies the income distribution, attitude composition, job structure, and aggregate savings and pensions of the population. While in some cases a micro-macro connection is easily established under regular behavioral assumptions, in several chapters Chu enlists the mathematical tool of branching processes to determine the connection. Offering a wealth of detail, this book provides a balanced discussion of background motivation, theoretical characterization, and empirical evidence in an effort to bring about a renewal in the economic approach to population dynamics. This welcome addition to the research and theory of economic demography will interest professional economists as well as professors and graduate students of economics.
