Abstract:
Standardness is an important invariant in the theory of filtrations indexed by negative integer times. The main purpose of this thesis is to determine whether some filtrations are standard or not. We first focus on the filtrations of split-word processes, introduced and studied by Smorodinsky and by Laurent. We prove that Laurent's sufficient condition for non standardness is also necessary. This yields a practical criterion of standardness. In turn, this criterion enables us to exhibit non standard filtrations which become standard when time is accelerated by omitting infinitely many instants of time. Secondly, we study the natural filtrations of stationary processes on finite state-spaces. Recently Bressaud et al. \ provided a sufficient condition for the natural filtration of such a process (Xk)k to be standard when the state-space has size 2. Their condition involves the conditional laws p(⋅|x) of X0 conditionally on (Xk)k≤−1=x and controls the influence of the remote past of the process on its present X0. Bressaud and al. \ measure the maximal strength of this influence. We provide sufficient conditions for standardness based on some average gaps between these conditional laws, instead of the maximal gaps

Abstract:
Kuitenkin kustannustehokkaita tuotteita usein yhdistää tuotteen modulaarinen suunnittelu, alusta asti tuotettavuuden huomioiminen suunnittelussa, sopivien yhteistyökumppanien löytäminen jo varhaisessa vaiheessa ja tehokas laatujohtaminen.Medical technology standards and manufacturing process. Abstract. This thesis studies the effects of medical technology standards in manufacturing processes. The main focus is in finding a cost-efficient way to develop products from the early stages of product development to maintaining a manufacturing process. The study is carried out as a literature review, and it includes an interview. The thesis claims that the development and production of the products is heavily influenced by risk management, and that medical device standards control the product design. It is found out that the industrial efficiency aspect of the products is a crucial part in making a successful product in this line of work. It is also said that in newer and smaller companies, this aspect is often neglected because lack of knowledge. The fragmented supply chain management is especially problematic and in product development phase the designers often makes decisions that lock the product too much to a certain design. The exceptionally large number of standards and regulations make experience and knowledge an important factor when it comes to success. For instance, companies are often over optimistic about completing clinical experiments and getting a marketing permit, and it causes projects to prolong and exceed their resources. Medical devices include a vast range of different kinds of products, and that is why it is really hard to come up with universal factors in successful products. However, cost efficient products have often in common that they have modular design, the manufacturability has been noted right from the beginning, the production partners are suitable and that the quality management is excellent right from the beginning.

Abstract:
Research of intercultural communication and management phenomena has been rising since 1950s. At that time the researchers acknowledged the importance of the role of culture in international relations. Purpose of this diploma thesis is to unhide culturally influenced perception and behavior of French in application to business. Basic characteristics of French culture were identified based on study of researches of recognized researchers in this field i.e. Geert Hofstede and Fons Trompenaars. Further characteristics of the culture were examined in the sample of 12 interviewees using quantitative research methods. They were willing to dedicate their time and share personal working experience in relation with French whether in France or in direct working relation in Czechia. Barriers of communication between both cultures were confirmed by the research as existing and therefor the study of cultural differences was justified. The results of the research are presented in form of recommendations for Czechs and sum up the established phenomena.

Abstract:
Today, business process modelling is important part of analysis and design of the information systems. There is number of standards, which is concerned with process modelling, whereas each of them represents a little different approach. The project Opensoul created general metamodel, which defines basic elements and their mutual associations, which all standards should meet. In other words, it defines basic rules for process modelling. The goal of this thesis is to compare chosen standards of process modelling with Business process metamodel of Opensoul initiative. The results of this comparison would have provide basis to answer the question, which standard supports in the best way the rules of process modelling defined by metamodel through the system of elements and their associations. This goal requires specifying the method, on which basis the comparison will be made. This method comprises the extension of metamodel with new elements and their relations to other elements, and the extension of some elements with some workflow patterns defined by Workflow Patterns initiative. That is the main benefit of this thesis.

With the emergence of higher bandwidth Ethernet networks on ranges, many ranges are converting their data transport from ATM(Asynchronous Transfer Mode) networks to Ethernet networks. Both networks have their respective advantages and disadvantages, however one reoccurring issue is product interoperability. The RCC (Range Commanders Council) TTG (Telecommunications and Timing Group) created the Telemetry over IP (TMoIP 218-07) solution with input from various ranges and vendors to solve this issue. This specification allows ranges to use different vendors together for Telemetry over Ethernet, based on specific needs at each site. This paper targets those who are thinking about converting from ATM to Ethernet networks.

Abstract:
Business process modeling plays an important role for the documentation and analysis of organizational processes and for the specification of requirements for information systems. Currently, there are many standards for process modeling, and each represents a different approach to modeling and provides different opportunities for creating models. Thus, same models created in different modeling languages differ in terms of their expressiveness, according to each standard. The goal of this thesis is to evaluate the effectiveness of selected business process modeling standards. The effectiveness of standards will be evaluated on two levels. First, in terms of their semantics and second, in terms of their syntax. Evaluation of standards in terms of their semantics will be based on the comparison of standards with a business process metamodel created within the project Opensoul. This model defines a set of basic elements and their associations at a basic level of process modeling. Evaluation of standards in terms of their syntax will be based on the comparison of standards with a framework proposed by Moody and Hillegersberg. The results of this comparison should show which standard best supports defined criteria. The evaluation framework will be applied on the following process modeling standards: BPMN, EPC and IDEF3. Based on the results obtained their strength and weaknesses will be discussed. The main contribution of this thesis can be seen both in the analysis of the element set of selected process modeling standards and further in the comparison of standards according to the evaluation framework.

Abstract:
Despite a close geographical position to the Czech Republic, there are vast differences between the Czech and British cultures. Commonly after arriving in Britain, many Czech nationals experience a cultural shock and do not understand the behaviour of the British people. The same can be said about Britons arriving in the Czech Republic. This makes it important to understand the cultural differences to help both nationals interact successfully with one another. This Master thesis focuses on cultural standards, a concept made by Alexander Thomas. Therefore, this report aims to define the Czech-British and British-Czech cultural standards, whilst comparing them with the theory and then to apply them in a cultural-historic framework. This report will hypothesise that the defined cultural standards do not differ from the standards analysed within the book by Karel Čapek. Other hypothesis of this thesis is: Many Britons see Czech people as over-caring and anxious. In conclusion to this report, the author will provide recommendations to both Czech nationals travelling to Great Britain and also the same for British descendants arriving within the Czech Republic.

Wallgren, Lisette. "The complex service field-Is it possible to standardize?" Thesis, Kristianstad University College, Department of Business Administration, 2008. http://urn.kb.se/resolve?urn=urn:nbn:se:hkr:diva-4517.

Abstract:

The field of complex services contains several actors. First it is the complex service companies that supply a professional service supplier. The professional service provider acts in many cases as a consultant. Secondly, the professional service provider works together with the client to reach a more efficient marketing. That marketing is then directed towards the customer. The customer is the client’s client and the end result.

The purpose with this dissertation is to investigate if it is possible to standardize the working procedure in order to make it as efficient as possible. We choose to investigate this based on interviews with two firms: Marklyss, a domestically operating firm, and GFK, an internationally operating firm. Our limitation is due to the ability to find participating firms.

Based on the interviews, we analysed the collected information through different theories such as 7K and standardization versus adaptation model. This was done to find similarities and differences between the companies. We found that there were some similarities that could be used to create a standardized platform for the working procedure. Also we found some differences that could be investigated further if there is any possibility to find out why and if it is possible to transform it into a similarity.

Laurent, Arthur. "Standardism as government : voluntary carbon certification and the Peruvian cookstove sector." Thesis, Paris, Institut d'études politiques, 2014. http://www.theses.fr/2014IEPP0013.

Full text
Abstract:
The voluntary carbon offset market is a market mechanism for offsetting greenhouse gases emissions for organizations and individuals that are not legally committed to reductions. Until now it has not been studied much in academic circles. This dissertation looks at the governance of the chain of actors involved in the mechanism. A pluri-disciplinary approach is used based on international relations, political science of offsets and standards combined with an anthropological analysis of development projects. The central question is thus: how are carbon-offset programs governed? The empirical work is a case study of a new stove (improved cookstoves) diffusion program in Peru under the Gold Standard. The first focus is on the social and cultural context of cooking in the Andes. Then four projects before carbon funding are studied. The standard is the subject of the following section and the retailer of the credits generated by the programme and three different types of clients are then presented. We can then discuss the creation, design and management of the standard through an ethnography of the social business that implements. Finally, the influence of the projects on the sector can be discussed. The chain studied presents a governance system that is multi-level and multi-actors, with mainly private actors that act parallel to the state. This type of governance is characterized by a series of standards that define the model the reality should resemble to and is called standardism

Abstract:
Nowadays, most of the countries in the world are getting more and more dependent on each other, both politically and economically. Along with that, cultural clash comes inevitably influencing are private lives and working environment. Multinational companies get the opportunity of using the potential of diverse cultural environment which is challenging the managers, and other employees, to increase their competencies. The goal of this thesis is to identify the Indian cultural standards from the Czech point of view and the Czech ones from the Indian point of view. The theory of the thesis is based on cultural models by Geert Hofstede and Fons Trompenaars. The cultural standards are being identified by using the method of critical incidents where the selected respondents are being interviewed. The thesis analyses at which aspects the two examined cultures differ the most and how it influences the working environment and performance. The research results are compared to other theoretical models and the thesis provides recommendations on how to work with the identified standards in order to make the Indian-Czech cooperation as efficient as possible.

Abstract:
Three-dimensional (3D) printing has become broadly available and can be utilized to customize clamping mechanisms in biomechanical experiments. This report will describe our experience using 3D printed clamps to mount soft tissues from different anatomical regions. The feasibility and potential limitations of the technology will be discussed. Tissues were sourced in a fresh condition, including human skin, ligaments and tendons. Standardized clamps and fixtures were 3D printed and used to mount specimens. In quasi-static tensile tests combined with digital image correlation and fatigue trials we characterized the applicability of the clamping technique. Scanning electron microscopy was utilized to evaluate the specimens to assess the integrity of the extracellular matrix following the mechanical tests. 3D printed clamps showed no signs of clamping-related failure during the quasi-static tests, and intact extracellular matrix was found in the clamping area, at the transition clamping area and the central area from where the strain data was obtained. In the fatigue tests, material slippage was low, allowing for cyclic tests beyond 105 cycles. Comparison to other clamping techniques yields that 3D printed clamps ease and expedite specimen handling, are highly adaptable to specimen geometries and ideal for high-standardization and high-throughput experiments in soft tissue biomechanics.
