Abstract:
Abstract: A chatbot is an artificial intelligence (AI) software that can simulate a conversation (or a chat) with a user in natural language through messaging applications, websites, mobile apps or through the telephone. This software is used to do duties such as replying swiftly to users, informing them, assisting with product purchases, and delivering better customer support. Business groups are increasingly using chatbots because they may minimize customer support costs and handle several consumers at once. However, in order to complete various jobs, chatbots must be as efficient as possible. In this project, we provide the architecture of a chatbot, which provides a human like and accurate response for any questions raised by users using Natural Language ToolKit(NLTK) and PyTorch with python language.

Abstract:
The prevalence rate of photovoltaics (PV)-based generation systems has increased by more than 15 folds in the last decade, putting it on the top compared to any other power generation system from the expandability point of view. A portion of this huge expansion serves to energize standalone remote areas. Seeking improvements from different aspects of PV systems has been the focus of many studies. In the track of these improvements, parallel MPPT configuration for PV standalone systems have been introduced in the literature as an alternative to a series configuration to improve the overall efficiency of standalone PV systems. However, this efficiency improvement of the parallel MPPT configuration over the series one is not valid for any standalone application, therefore an assessment procedure is required to determine the most efficient MPPT configuration for different standalone applications. Therefore, in this study, an assessment procedure of parallel MPPT is conducted to demonstrate the suitability of utilizing such a configuration compared to series one, based on load daytime energy contributions. This assessment will help PV system designers to determine which MPPT configuration should be selected for applications under study. Furthermore, a new utilization of parallel MPPT configuration is introduced for operating universal input power supply (UIPS) loads to eliminate the inverter stage, thereby increasing the overall system efficiency and reliability. Finally, a systematic procedure to size the complete system is introduced and reinforced by a sizing example.

Abstract:
We assume that one of the key reasons is in the difference between a standalone application and a web service. Both architectures have some advantages and disadvantages. The Standalone application (e.g. Nokia/OVI Maps) provides the required functionality. From the user point of view, main asset of this “offline” approach is network connectivity independence. However, this kind of applications must be upgraded manually. Moreover, it is hard to get any data about the application usage because it requires additional actions from the user – data are usually acquired through conventional ways, such as email or web forms. The online service such as Google Maps (including its mobile application) can offer the same functionality as the offline application. Nevertheless, a permanent connection to provider servers is necessary. This can be taken as a drawback. On the other hand, usage data collection is easier and can be done without the user intervention. The data collection provides a valuable analysis basis of the user habits and needs. This analysis is necessary for design of a complex “user” based solutions such as Google Now.Augmented reality applications are usually based on the first mentioned approach. In this article, we describe our model of augmented reality as a service and compare its features with standalone solutions. Further, other important key aspects for large emergence of augmented reality services in a mainstream market are discussed.

Many cloud services utilize an API gateway, which enables them to be offered to users through API platforms such as Platform as a Service (PaaS), Software as a service (SaaS), Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and cross-platforms APIs. APIs are designed for functionality and speed by developers who write a small portion of code, which has visibility and is secure. The code that is created from third-party software or libraries has no visibility, which makes it insecure. APIs are the most vulnerable points of attack, and many users are not aware of their insecurity. This paper reviews API security in cloud applications and discusses details of API vulnerabilities, existing security tools for API security to mitigate API attacks. The author’s study showed that most users are unaware of API insecurity, organizations lack resources and training to educate users about APIs, and organizations depend on the overall security of the network instead of the security of standalone APIs.

Abstract:
In this paper, a dual-stage modeling and optimization framework has been developed to obtain an optimal combination and size of wayside energy storage systems (WESSs) for application in DC rail transportation. Energy storage technologies may consist of a standalone battery, a standalone supercapacitor, a standalone flywheel, or a combination of these. Results from the dual-stage modeling and optimization process have been utilized for deducing an application-specific composition of type and size of the WESSs. These applications consist of different percentages of energy saving due to regenerative braking, voltage regulation, peak demand reduction, estimated payback period, and system resiliency. In the first stage, sizes of the ESSs have been estimated using developed detailed mathematical models, and optimized using the Genetic Algorithm (GA). In the second stage, the respective sizes of ESSs are simulated by developing an all-inclusive model of the transit system, ESS and ESS management system (EMS) in MATLAB/Simulink. The mathematical modeling provides initial recommendations for the sizes from a large search space. However, the dynamic simulation contributes to the optimization by highlighting the transit system constraints and practical limitations of ESSs, which impose bounds on the maximum energy that can be captured from decelerating trains.

Abstract:
The characteristics of solar and wind energy determine that the optimization of a standalone hybrid wind turbine (WT)/photovoltaic panel (PV) system depends on the natural resources of the installation location. In order to ensure system reliability and improve the resource utilization, a method for determining the installed capacity ratio of a hybrid renewable energy system is required. This study proposes a calculation method to optimize the installed capacity ratio, considering the system reliability to meet the needs of the hybrid system to adapt to different natural resources. In this paper, a standalone hybrid WT/PV system to provide electricity for rural areas is designed. Taking the power supply guarantee rate and electricity supply continuity as indicators, the system is simulated by using the Transient System Simulator solver. The results show that the recommended installed capacity ratio of the WT and PV is 5:1 when the total solar irradiation is less than 5040 MJ/(m2·a) and the annual average wind velocity is in the range of 3.0~3.5 m/s. When the annual average wind velocity is in the range of 2.0~3.0 m/s, the PV plays an increasingly significant role in the hybrid system and exceeds the WT if the total solar irradiation is greater than 6300 MJ/(m2·a). However, if the total solar irradiation and the annual average wind velocity are less than 5040 MJ/(m2·a) and 2.0 m/s, respectively, it is not recommended to use the standalone hybrid system because it cannot meet the power demand. These conclusions provide guidance for the distribution strategies of the standalone hybrid WT/PV system within different natural resources.

A passive filter is often necessary in grid connected and standalone distributed generation systems to reduce harmonics on the inverter output voltage/current waveforms. This article presents a survey of passive filter structures used along with voltage source inverters in grid connected and standalone systems. The paper brings in the salient features of existing passive filters throwing their merits and demerits. In literature, intensive work has been performed on the identification of new passive filter topologies with features including reduced elements, lower losses, and reduced harmonics. New filtering techniques based on the traditional schemes have also been proposed for easy control, less complexity, and reduced harmonic distortion. In this paper, a review of such newly developed filter topologies is carried out. Abstract:
One of the major concerns for continuous solar photovoltaic (PV) generation is partial shading. The movement of clouds, shadow of buildings, trees, birds, litter and dust, etc., can lead to partial shadow conditions (PSCs). The PSCs have caused inconsistent power losses in the PV modules. This leads to a shortage of electricity production and the presence in the PV curve of several peaks. One of the simplest solutions to PSC’s is the PV configurations. The objective of this paper is modelling and simulation of solar PV system in various shading scenarios for KC200GT 200 W, 5 x 5 configurations that includes Series/Parallel (SP), Total-Cross-Tied (TCT), Triple-Tied (TT), Bridge-Link (BL) configurations. Real time PSC’s such as corner, center, frame, random, diagonal, right side end shading conditions are evaluated under all PV array configurations. A comparative analysis is carried out for the parameters such as open circuit voltage, short circuit current, maximum power point, panel mismatch losses, fill factor, efficiency under all PV configurations considering PSC’s. From the comparison analysis best configuration will be presented.

Abstract:
The growth of distributed power generation using renewable energy sources has led to the development of new-generation power electronic converters. This is because DC–DC converters and inverters form the fundamental building blocks in numerous applications, which include renewable integrations, energy harvesting, and transportation. Additionally, they play a vital role in microgrid applications. The deployment of distributed energy resources (DERs) with renewable sources such as solar has paved the way for microgrid support systems, thus forming an efficient electric grid. To enhance the voltage of such sources and to integrate them into the grid, high-gain DC–DC converters and inverter circuits are required. In this paper, a novel single-switch high-gain converter (HG-SIQBC) with quadratic voltage gain and wide controllable range of load is proposed, the output of which is fed to a modified multilevel inverter for conversion of voltage. The overall performance of the newly designed converter and inverter is analyzed and compared with the existing topologies. A prototype of the investigated multilevel inverter is designed and tested in the laboratory. Development and testing of such novel topologies have become the need of the hour as the grid becomes smarter with increased penetration of distributed resources.

Abstract:
This paper presents the detail circuitry modeling of single phase off-grid inverter for small standalone system applications. The entire model is developed in MATLAB/Simulink platform using circuitry model. This off grid inverter consists of a high frequency DC-DC step up converter cascaded with a full bridge PI control voltage source inverter using SPWM modulation with LC filter to produce sine wave output. This is a common design used in many small commercial off-grid inverter. This off-grid inverter model is capable to produce AC sinewave output voltage at 230 V 50 Hz up to 1 kW power from a 48 V DC lead acid battery source. The AC sine wave output waveform achieved a voltage Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of less than 1 % which is almost a pure sine wave. The conversion efficiency performance of the off-grid inverter achieved more than 94 %. The performance of the model is validated by real commercial off-grid inverter. The performance validation experiment shows that the off-grid inverter Simulink model conversion efficiency and THD performance are comparable to the commercial off-grid inverter. This model contributes to assist small to medium standalone system load and battery sizing design with greater accuracy.

The field of Telecommunication has progressed and emerged to be a successful field of technology. From communicating via pigeons and cannon balls to video conferencing for a meeting, the communication has improved surpassing every user’s expectation. With the introduction of wireless communication, the field of communication took a different turn. Just when we thought we reached the zenith of wireless communication, an esoteric concept of StandAlone (S.A.) and Non-StandAlone (N.S.A.) opened the gates to a more efficient communication, expanding the horizons of technology. The 5G network has started developing over some regions in the world but the real question remains; which is, whether an efficient communication is worth the economy spent on developing it or certain advantages of this networks should be given up to protect the country’s economy. The 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) presents two essential architecture for 5G deployment from LTE: Non-Standalone (NSA) and Standalone (SA). NSA empowers quick 5G benefit arrangement with minimum investment by leveraging the existing LTE infrastructures. SA comprises of a single Radio Access Technology (RAT), meaning it is conceivable to supply full 5G upgrades designed to work only in the 5G New Radio (NR) This analytical paper elaborates the performance of these two architectures for the implementation of 5G cellular technology, where in the first one would be highly technology centric approach with less cost efficiency and the other one would be the economy savvy aspect with little bit negotiation with technology upgrades

Abstract:
Standalone microgrids with photovoltaic (PV) solutions could be a promising solution for powering up off-grid communities. However, this type of application requires the use of energy storage systems (ESS) to manage the intermittency of PV production. The most commonly used ESSs are lithium-ion batteries (Li-ion), but this technology has a low lifespan, mostly caused by the imposed stress. To reduce the stress on Li-ion batteries and extend their lifespan, hybrid energy storage systems (HESS) began to emerge. Although the utilization of HESSs has demonstrated great potential to make up for the limitations of Li-ion batteries, a proper power management strategy is key to achieving the HESS objectives and ensuring a harmonized system operation. This paper proposes a novel power management strategy based on an artificial neural network for a standalone PV system with Li-ion batteries and super-capacitors (SC) HESS. A typical standalone PV system is used to demonstrate and validate the performance of the proposed power management strategy. To demonstrate its effectiveness, computational simulations with short and long duration were performed. The results show a minimization in Li-ion battery dynamic stress and peak current, leading to an increased lifespan of Li-ion batteries. Moreover, the proposed power management strategy increases the level of SC utilization in comparison with other well-established strategies in the literature.

Abstract:
Cone disc springs exhibit quasi-zero stiffness behavior that is useful in isolating objects from low frequency vibrations. However, the stroke of a single disc spring is too low for most applications, and springs are stacked to increase the displacement. A method to contain the isolator stack then becomes critical for practical uses. Many challenges in developing these containment methods have been identified and can be collectively described as how to appropriately contain the stack without affecting isolation performance. In this work, three designs are considered: a retaining ring design, tube and shaft design, and zero poisson ratio sleeve design. Disc spring stacks with containment method are built, and load-deflection curves are measured and compared with standalone stacks. Under quasi-static compression testing, each containment method has minimal effect on the standalone stack load-deflection curve. However, significant differences in isolation performance are observed in vibration testing and found to depend on characteristics such as lateral stability, lateral strength, and degrees of freedom. Lastly, advantages, disadvantages, and appropriate applications for each containment method are summarized. The conclusions of this work are that containment method is an important variable in the application of disc spring isolators and robust, versatile containment designs have been demonstrated.

Abstract:
Variable buoyancy systems (VBSs) are commonly used in underwater vehicles to achieve efficient heave motion. Most of the time, these systems are used as a part of conventional underwater vehicles with diverse methods to achieve the necessary buoyancy variation. The potential of VBSs as standalone systems for heave motion underwater has not been given due attention and is still an unexplored area. In this paper, the design of a VBS as a standalone module for heave control and the possibility of using multiple such modules in a cascaded structure for selective underwater deployment is presented. Such cascaded systems have a variety of applications ranging from coastal surveillance to selective deployment for ocean sampling, and so on. A metallic-bellows-based variable buoyancy module (VBM), actuated using linear actuators, is proposed here. The mathematical modelling of the VBM and its open-loop performance are analysed for suitability with regards to the system to be cascaded. Two prototypes have been developed based on the optimal design requirements and tested. The developed modules are simple and efficient for shallow water applications, and can be used as add-ons for existing underwater vehicles or can just be used as standalone systems. These two modules are then cascaded and the performance of the cascaded system is analysed with simulations and experiments. The analysis shows the suitability of the system for selective deployment at various depths.

Abstract:
This paper presents the circuitry modeling of the solar photovoltaic MPPT lead-acid battery charge controller for the standalone system in MATLAB/Simulink environment. A buck topology is utilized as a DC-DC converter for the charge controller implementation. The maximum power of the photovoltaic panel is tracked by the Perturb and Observe MPPT algorithm. The battery charge controller charges the lead-acid battery using a three-stage charging strategy. The three charging stages include the MPPT bulk charge, constant voltage absorption charge, and float charge stage. The performance analysis of the model is carried out in the following aspects, there are MPPT tracking performance, battery charging performance and overall charge controller efficiency performance are benchmarked with commercial MPPT charge controller for validation. The performance result shows that the MPPT is capable to track to the PV panel maximum point at any solar irradiance variation within 0.5 seconds with maximum power tracking efficiency up to 99.9 %. The three-stage charging strategy also successfully demonstrated. The overall charge controller average efficiency achieved up to 98.3 % which matches many high end commercial solar PV MPPT charge controller product specifications. This validated model contributes to a better sizing of PV panel and battery energy storage for the small and medium standalone PV system.

PURPOSE Zero-footprint Web architecture enables imaging applications to be deployed on premise or in the cloud without requiring installation of custom software on the user’s computer. Benefits include decreased costs and information technology support requirements, as well as improved accessibility across sites. The Open Health Imaging Foundation (OHIF) Viewer is an extensible platform developed to leverage these benefits and address the demand for open-source Web-based imaging applications. The platform can be modified to support site-specific workflows and accommodate evolving research requirements. MATERIALS AND METHODS The OHIF Viewer provides basic image review functionality (eg, image manipulation and measurement) as well as advanced visualization (eg, multiplanar reformatting). It is written as a client-only, single-page Web application that can easily be embedded into third-party applications or hosted as a standalone Web site. The platform provides extension points for software developers to include custom tools and adapt the system for their workflows. It is standards compliant and relies on DICOMweb for data exchange and OpenID Connect for authentication, but it can be configured to use any data source or authentication flow. Additionally, the user interface components are provided in a standalone component library so that developers can create custom extensions. RESULTS The OHIF Viewer and its underlying components have been widely adopted and integrated into multiple clinical research platforms (e,g Precision Imaging Metrics, XNAT, LabCAS, ISB-CGC) and commercial applications (eg, Osirix). It has also been used to build custom imaging applications (eg, ProstateCancer.ai, Crowds Cure Cancer [presented as a case study]). CONCLUSION The OHIF Viewer provides a flexible framework for building applications to support imaging research. Its adoption could reduce redundancies in software development for National Cancer Institute–funded projects, including Informatics Technology for Cancer Research and the Quantitative Imaging Network.

Abstract:
The total power demand in our country is increasing every year because of the increasing population. Conventional energy sources are limited by the constraints such as emission of CO2, increasing price of oil etc. To increase the power generation we need to go for non conventional energy sources among which wind energy is available in abundance. This paper discusses the possibility of using wind energy for the stand alone large scale applications eliminating the constraints on the grid connection. This is the pre feasibility study of wind power generation by analyzing the daily wind patterns in the coastal areas. This forms a good base for analyzing the feasibility of standalone wind system to large scale applications. HOMER software is used as an optimization tool. From the results Chennai has better energy density and Tutukurin has higher capacity factor. The study makes it feasible to next step in analyzing the feasibility of implementing a standalone desalination unit in coastal regions of Tamilnadu.

Abstract:
DC microgrids are playing an important role in remote area power applications like power supply to off-grid tele communication towers, off-grid data centres, rural electrification etc. and moreover these are extensively used, as these appear as solutions for integrating two or more renewable energy resources. In this paper, photovoltaic (PV) and wind energy systems have been integrated along with batteries and a load to form an autonomous DC microgrid with high reliability and stability. The primary aspects which are to be taken into consideration in a standalone DC microgrid are voltage regulation, load sharing and battery management. In this paper, an energy management strategy is proposed which includes maximum power point tracking (MPPT) algorithms and voltage droop control method. This strategy ensures optimal power sharing among the sources and increases reliability and stability profile of the microgrid. The operation of the microgrid in different modes and the behaviour of the system at different operating conditions is studied by varying the solar irradiance and wind speed for specific time periods. The simulation is done in Matlab Simulink software and the results are obtained.

Abstract:
This paper covers the internal architecture, testability & performance characterization of Texas Instruments ™ High-Temp 210C 4MByte standalone Flash storage device. It will be available in a 14-pin ceramic dual Flat pack package as well as a Known Good Die (KGD) option. The device is manufactured in TI's 180nm 1.8V flash process with 3.3V IOs. The design implements 8 banks of flash organized into 2M × 16 bits surrounded by a SPI controller. The SPI controller interfaces asynchronously with an internal flash controller. The flash controller is clocked by FCLK, and controls the flash charge pump to access & operate the flash to program, read, erase, validate etc. The SPI controller is responsible for translating and executing the high level SPI protocol commands to the internal flash controller & its registers. A simple and flexible protocol was developed to access the flash array via the SPI supporting various commands and configuration capabilities. Testability of critical parameters for reliable 210C flash operation is ensured with the implementation of an internal test port accessible through a parallel interface (for TI Internal use only). The test port, and a SPI initiated BIST controller are used to provide full & comprehensive characterization of the flash bit cell array, as well as the flash-pump across temperature & frequencies. The form factor, size, and pin out of this flash device is primarily focused on data logging for narrow & space limited extreme harsh environments such as the down-hole drilling industry.

Abstract:
Nowadays, the usage of renewable energy resources (RER) is growing rapidly, but at the same time, the effective utilization of RER is also a challenging task. For the better usage of RER and the reduction of loss, the dual battery storage is proposed. The main aim of this work is to focus on the design and implementation of a reliable and renewable power generating system under a robust situation, along with a battery storage system. The perturb and observe (P&O) maximum power point tracking (MPPT) technique has been applied to improve the solar photovoltaic power production. In addition, the dual battery storage system is being introduced to improve the life cycle of the primary storage system. The proposed dual storage system is highly preferable for remote, location-based application systems, space applications and military operations. In the dual battery storage system, the batteries are working effectively with a good lifespan, when compared with the existing methods. To determine the state of charge (SOC) and depth of discharge (DOC), those batteries’ input charging and discharging levels were monitored closely. MATLAB Simulink (R2013) is used for simulation; finally, a real-time, three-phase inverter was designed and validated. Under this dual battery storage mode, the life time of battery is improved.

For upper extremity rehabilitation, quantitative measurements of a person’s capabilities during activities of daily living could provide useful information for therapists, including in telemedicine scenarios. Specifically, measurements of a person’s upper body kinematics could give information about which arm motions or movement features are in need of additional therapy, and their location within the home could give context to these motions. To that end, we present a new algorithm for identifying a person’s location in a region of interest based on a Bluetooth received signal strength (RSS) and present an experimental evaluation of this and a different Bluetooth RSS-based localization algorithm via fingerprinting. We further present algorithms for and experimental results of inferring the complete upper body kinematics based on three standalone inertial measurement unit (IMU) sensors mounted on the wrists and pelvis. Our experimental results for localization find the target location with a mean square error of 1.78 m. Our kinematics reconstruction algorithms gave lower errors with the pelvis sensor mounted on the person’s back and with individual calibrations for each test. With three standalone IMUs, the mean angular error for all of the upper body segment orientations was close to 21 degrees, and the estimated elbow and shoulder angles had mean errors of less than 4 degrees.
