Abstract:
The evaluation study aimed to describe the implementation of Bahasa Indonesia as character development subject (Matakuliah Pengembangan Kepribadian/MPK) seen from (1) the learning plan, (2) the implementation of learning, and (3) evaluation of learning. Evaluation model used was a stake evaluation model (Countenance Model). Data were analyzed by descriptive-quantitative. The data were collected by using questionnaire, interview, and documentation. Categorization percentage is divided into five criteria, namely excellent (> 80%), good (60%-80%), fairly good (40%-60%), poor (20%-40%), and very poorly (<20%). The research was conducted in the first semester of the academic year 2015/2016 with the sample of 315 students. The results showed that in general the Bahasa Indonesia as character development subject was categorised as good with the percentage of 71.02%, in detail, the result can be described as follows: (1) the learning plan is categorized as good with the percentage of 72.62%, (2) the implementation of learning is categorized as good with the persentage of 69.85%, and (3) evaluation of learning activities is categorized as good with the persentage of 70.59%. The implications of this research for lecturers is a need for efforts to sustain the implementation of learning that has been good even working on improving and working to improve elements of learning activities that have not been considered good. The results of the study suggest that regular evaluation needs to be done to get a better picture of evaluation with a larger number of sample. Another suggestion that can be proposed is the evaluation of learning by using a variety of evaluation model to get a better result of the learning Bahasa Indonesia.

Abstract:
A model is developed for two players exerting media manipulation efforts to support each of two actors who interact controversially. Early evidence may support one actor, while the full evidence emerging later may support the other actor. Exerting effort when the full evidence exceeds (falls short off) the early evidence is rewarded (punished) with lower (higher) unit effort cost. Properties and simulations are presented to illustrate the players’ strategic challenges when altering eight model parameters, i.e., a player’s unit effort cost, stake in the interaction, proportionality parameter scaling the strength of reward or punishment, time discount parameter, early evidence, full evidence, contest intensity, and evidence ratio intensity. Realizing the logic of the model may aid understanding on how to handle the difference between early and full evidence of controversies, in which players have an ideological stake.

Abstract:
Recent developments in the philosophy of science, particularly those falling under the rubric of “scientific realism,” have earned growing recognition among theorists of international relations but have failed to generate substantive programs of research. Consequently, the empirical relevance of much philosophical discourse, such as that centering on the agent-structure problem in social theory, remains unestablished. This article attempts to bridge the gap between the philosophy and practice of science by outlining a model of international structure based on the principles of scientific realism and by considering its implications for a structural research program in international relations theory. Appealing to Imre Lakatos's methodology of theorychoice, the article presents an ontological case for adopting a “transformational” model of structure over the “positional” model developed in the work of Kenneth Waltz. The article demonstrates that the positional approach offers no conceptual or explanatory hold on those features of the international structure that are the intended products of state action. In conclusion, the article argues that the stakes in the agent-structure debate include the capacity to generate integrative structural theory and the ability to theorize the possibilities for peaceful change in the international system.

Points to an attitude emerging from changes. The Corona crisis, despite weaknesses and errors, has shown what can be done and how quickly institutions can adapt and change their choices, since life is at stake and, therefore, its legitimacy. This process towards ‘partner state’ practices and public-commons protocols will not be automatic, and will be an alternative to a coercive and authoritarian state-centric model, which could be one of the negative outcomes of this crisis.

Data from twice-daily radiosonde flights are used to estimate spatial and temporal variations of air temperature, atmospheric transmissivity, wind speed and humidity at Blue Glacier, western Washington. U. S.A. Results indicate that the free-air conditions (interpolated in altitude and in time from radiosondes) provide a much better estimate of conditions on the glacier than do measurements from low-altitude stations. Data from the radiosondes are used to model the hourly exchange of mass and energy at the surface of Blue Glacier. In the absence of explicit information about clouds, temperature and humidity profiles from the radiosonde are used to estimate the atmospheric transmissivity needed for the calculation of short-wave radiation. Topographical influences (altitude, shading, slope angle and orientation) and surface albedo are parameterized explicitly to model the absorbed solar flux at specific sites on the glacier, Other energy fluxes (long-wave radiation, sensible-heat and latent-heat exchange) are estimated using established physical models. Hourly estimates of ablation are integrated to obtain the seasonal ablation. Modeled ablation and stake measurements made over 30 a at two sites on Blue Glacier agree within 16%, which is within the error associated with stake measurements of ablation.

AbstractVariations of area-averaged annual balance can be calculated from sparse stake networks, if the specific balances satisfy a simple version of the linear model proposed by Lliboutry. The linear model is tested with 4 years of data at 13 stakes on Qamanârssûp sermia, West Greenland, and is satisfied with a model error of ±0.34 m water equivalent. From analyses of data from three stakes a few metres apart, the random error in the measurement of annual balance is estimated to be greater than ±0.23 m water equivalent. The variation in balance for the 4 years is ±0.52 m water equivalent which reflects the year–to–year variation in climate. The shortness of the present data series is admitted and its continuation is recommended.

Abstract:
Educational leadership has been studied in depth so far worldwide. However, to our knowledge, there is a broad scope for further research in terms of measuring educational leadership effectiveness. Many attempts throw the years were undergone in Greece in order to establish an evaluation process for educational leadership, many reactions raised, continuous changes have occurred and the issue remains timeless. This study aims to introduce a model of assessing the outcomes of educational leadership considering the most important stake holders that affect. These stake holders according to literature review in broader categories are the academic staff, school community, students, local society, and administrative personnel. Educational leader’s effectiveness can be also assessed against their academic and operational duty results such as the implementation of national educational policy, administrative tasks and relative operational outcomes in budgeting, handling and overcoming managerial obstacles, meeting the legislation standards. The purpose of this research is to design a comprehensive, applicable and holistic evaluation model for assessing educational leadership based on the results on the above criteria. For this purpose an extensive relative literature review in educational leadership studies has been conducted in order to explore in depth the most significant recipients that educational leadership influence and affect direct or indirect respectively. The core idea is that the most influenced recipients by educational leadership could be the most appropriate evaluators for the results of it. Thus has been designed a model based on the most significant stake holders who affected by educational leaders, complimented with a questionnaire as evaluation tool, which is structured with particular questions for each broad category of stake holders. In this study a relative literature review, and a draft of a pilot evaluation model in assessing educational leadership presenting, while the ultimate target is in a following study the evaluation model to be implemented in real sample of participants in order to present the impact of educational leadership effectiveness with respect to subordinates of academic, managerial staff and students of an educational organization. It is of a great importance to have an evaluation model for assessing the educational leadership effectiveness for all levels of education such as primary, secondary and higher education. Educational leaders affect many recipients such as students, faculty members, academics and community. Hence, a broader evaluation model should involve assessment criteria from all these stake holders due to the fact that educational leadership has a great direct or indirect influence in several micro and macroeconomic critical results, such as students achievements, learning outcomes, school climate, local society bonds, teachers behaviours, ethics, culture, civilization, and eventually national economy competiveness. A transparent evaluation model of school leaders could provide better understanding of the job left to be done for every educational leader, to recognise competences, to disclose weaknesses in order to work on them, to facilitate criteria for improvement, overcome obstacles and eventually to promote and improve educational efficiency.

Data warehouse generally contains both types of data i.e. historical & current data from various data sources. Data warehouse in world of computing can be defined as system created for analysis and reporting of these both types of data. These analysis report is then used by an organization to make decisions which helps them in their growth. Construction of data warehouse appears to be simple, collection of data from data sources into one place (after extraction, transform and loading). But construction involves several issues such as inconsistent data, logic conflicts, user acceptance, cost, quality, security, stake holder’s contradictions, REST alignment etc. These issues need to be overcome otherwise will lead to unfortunate consequences affecting the organization growth. Proposed model tries to solve these issues such as REST alignment, stake holder’s contradiction etc. by involving experts of various domains such as technical, analytical, decision makers, management representatives etc. during initialization phase to better understand the requirements and mapping these requirements to data sources during design phase of data warehouse.

Abstract:
The electric vehicle (EV) charging stake is widely used for recharging the electric car batteries. The charging stake generally adopts switching power supply technology. It will cause serious harmonic pollution to power systems and consume lots of reactive power. Therefore, this dissertation focuses on the active power filter (APF) for the EV charging stake. Firstly, the principle of the APF are briefly introduced. Secondly, the main design and the technical difficulties are illustrated in detail. The controller of the APF is based on the DSP and the model is TMS320F2812. At last, this study is simulated in Matlab and a prototype is constructed. The simulation and the experimental results prove that the APF can functions well for the electric vehicle charging stake. It has achieved the national power quality standard.

Abstract:
Purpose When entering foreign markets, multinationals can acquire part of a foreign firm and can increase or decrease their equity stake over time. However, extant studies have mainly focused on equity stake acquired during initial market entry. The paper aims to discuss this issue. Design/methodology/approach This study fills this gap by using the Uppsala model to analyze six cases of international acquisitions of Finnish multinationals in global markets. Findings The authors found that firms change their equity stake in partially acquired foreign subsidiaries: when they have learned about the host country and businesses of the partially acquired firms, when they have gained target-specific experience, when they build trust and ensure relationship commitment and finally, when they jointly develop and exploit opportunities. Originality/value This study is one of the first to apply the Uppsala model to empirically analyze international acquisitions, thus paving the way for behavioral and process-oriented approaches. The study contributes to knowledge of post-entry strategies of multinationals.

Abstract:
AbstractIn this study we investigate the ability of the Regional Atmospheric Climate MOdel (RACMO) to represent temporal variations of Antarctic accumulation using weekly stake array measurements from Neumayer Station. The model uses European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts re-analysis data to force the atmospheric variables at the lateral boundaries of the model domain. Accumulation is defined as precipitation minus sublimation. Generally the model represents reasonably well the synoptic situations that lead to precipitation. The amounts of accumulation are, however, usually lower in the model than in the measurements. It cannot be determined whether the model underestimates precipitation or whether this effect is due to the redistribution of snow by the wind, which is not taken into account in the model but affects the accumulation at the measuring site. Significant differences between model and measurements also occur in cases of net ablation due to wind erosion or when accumulation at the stakes was due to snowdrift from the southwest without precipitation being observed.

The practice of medicine, which traditionally falls outside the sphere of substantive governmental control, poses challenges to political scientists who perceive the need for oversight regarding problematic new technologies. The challenge is even greater when the technologies involve reproduction, in which constitutional liberties are at stake. This article suggests a private policy model for overseeing one problematic emerging reproductive technology—the diagnosis of chromosomal and genetic disorders in human embryos. It bids political scientists to examine and recommend creative private sector policies appropriate to biomedicine. Rules developed in the private sector, if regarded as obligatory by clinicians, offer a theoretically interesting bridge between voluntary ethical principles and mandatory public sector rules.

Three different snow-depth data sets were collected consisting of: (1) high-resolution depth transects covering the glacier, (2) depths taken from the permanent stake network, and (3) an intermediate data set constructed using the stake network and supplementary depth data from locations not covered by the stake network. The glacier was divided into ten elevation zones and the data were registered to a digital elevation model for analysis. Results show that the permanent stake network provides an accurate estimate of total mass balance if certain techniques are used for extrapolation to higher elevations, although estimates of mass balance for particular regions of the glacier are not accurate. Some regions were overestimated while others were underestimated, leading to a good overall estimate. The intermediate-resolution data set provided better within-zone estimates of mass balance, but was less accurate than the stake network for total mass balance.

Abstract:
AbstractAustfonna (8120km2) is by far the largest ice mass in the Svalbard archipelago. There is considerable uncertainty about its current state of balance and its possible response to climate change. Over the 2004/05 period, we collected continuous meteorological data series from the ice cap, performed mass-balance measurements using a network of stakes distributed across the ice cap and mapped the distribution of snow accumulation using ground-penetrating radar along several profile lines. These data are used to drive and test a model of the surface mass balance. The spatial accumulation pattern was derived from the snow depth profiles using regression techniques, and ablation was calculated using a temperature-index approach. Model parameters were calibrated using the available field data. Parameter calibration was complicated by the fact that different parameter combinations yield equally acceptable matches to the stake data while the resulting calculated net mass balance differs considerably. Testing model results against multiple criteria is an efficient method to cope with non-uniqueness. In doing so, a range of different data and observations was compared to several different aspects of the model results. We find a systematic underestimation of net balance for parameter combinations that predict observed ice ablation, which suggests that refreezing processes play an important role. To represent these effects in the model, a simple PMAX approach was included in its formulation. Used as a diagnostic tool, the model suggests that the surface mass balance for the period 29 April 2004 to 23 April 2005 was negative (–318mmw.e.).

Information systems development (ISD) is a complex process involving interconnected resources, stake holders, and outcomes. Understanding factors contributing to ISD success has attracted keen interest from both researchers and practitioners, and many research studies have been published in this area. However, most studies focus on one or two factors affecting ISD success. A holistic view of factors impacting ISD success is missing. This paper synthesizes past research on the topic and proposes a unified model on ISD success through a systematic and comprehensive literature review. The unified model highlights that ISD is a complex and interactive process involving individual, team, and organization factors, as well as ISD methodology. These factors impact the ISD process as well as its success.

Abstract:
The aim of this study was to test a model specifying the relations between appraisals and affects. A theory of the appraisal—affect relation is proposed in terms of general feeling rules differentiating between affects. A taxonomy of ten appraisals is presented, each defined by a specific profile of scores on four appraisal variables: desirability, controllability, responsibility, and the kind of value being at stake in an event. The appraisals are related to nine affect dimensions, resulting from earlier taxonomic research on the structure of affect (Hoekstra, 1986). All predictions following from the theory were tested in two independent samples by structural analysis. The model showed a good fit in both data sets.

Abstract:
Summary Objective Increasing patient demand for convenient access to their own healthcare data has led to more personal use of the Electronic Health Record (EHR). With “consumer empowerment” being an important issue of EHR, we are seeing a more “patient-centric” approach of EHR from countries around the world. Researchers have reported on issues in EHR sharing including concerns on privacy and security, consumer empowerment, competition among providers, and content standards. This study attempts to analyze prior research and to synthesize comprehensive, empirically-based conceptual models of EHR for personal use. Methods We use “B2C(2B)” to represent this new behavior of EHR sharing and exchange, with “consumer” in the center stage. ResultsBased on different information sharing mechanisms, we summarized the “B2C(2B)” behavior into three models, namely, the Inexpensive data media model, the Internet patient portal model and the Personal portable device model. Models each have their own strengths and weaknesses in their ways to share patient data and to address privacy and security concerns. Conclusion Personal use of EHR under the B2C(2B) model does look promising based on our study. We started to observe a trend that governments around the world are embarking on related projects. With multiple stake-holders involved, we are only beginning to understand the complexity of such undertakings.

Using a purpose-built indicator of the permissiveness of inheritance law and data for 10,004 firms from 38 countries in 1990–2006, we find that stricter inheritance law is associated with lower investment in family firms but does not affect investment in nonfamily firms. Moreover, as the model predicts, inheritance law affects investment only in family firms that experience a succession. (JEL G31, G32, K22, L26, O17).

Abstract:
In the digital economy era, the development of a distributed robust economy system has become increasingly important. The blockchain technology can be used to build such a system, but current mainstream consensus protocols are vulnerable to attack, making blockchain systems unsustainable. In this paper, we propose a new Robust Proof of Stake (RPoS) consensus protocol, which uses the amount of coins to select miners and limits the maximum value of the coin age to effectively avoid coin age accumulation attack and Nothing-at-Stake (N@S) attack. Under a comparison framework, we show that the RPoS equals or outperforms Proof of Work (PoW) protocol and Proof of Stake (PoS) protocol in three dimensions: energy consumption, robustness, and transaction processing speed. To compare the three consensus protocols in terms of trade efficiency, we built an agent-based model and find that RPoS protocol has greater or similar trade request-satisfied ratio than PoW and PoS. Hence, we suggest that RPoS is very suitable for building a robust digital economy distributed system.

Using a simultaneous equation model, estimated by three-stage least squares, to control for a potential endogeneity bias, we find a significant positive relationship between the holdings of the largest shareholder and firm performance. Likewise we find a significantly positive relationship for the stake held by insiders. Further testing provides some evidence that this relationship is nonlinear, i.e. at lower stakes insider ownership aligns management with shareholder, whereas at higher stakes entrenchment of management depresses performance. Splitting the sample into different types of owners provides some evidence that financials have a negative impact on performance, while other firms have a positive impact.
