Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to investigate the rationality of the decision making of residential developers in Thailand. Exploring its implications in the residential development field, the researchers propose the famous prospect theory as the primary cause of developers’ incompetent decisions during the pre-development stage of residential development. Design/methodology/approach The methodologies used in this research include literature review, expert interview, and experimental questionnaire. Findings The results show that Thai developers exhibit all five aspects of prospect theory: loss aversion, fourfold pattern, bias from rare events, mental accounting, and preference reversals (PR); however, in contrast to previous literature, the researchers found that Thai developers always choose to receive gains, and usually make risky choices to avoid losses, even if the risk of loss is low. Moreover, status quo bias has a low influence on Thai developers: they tend to become attached to the areas they develop, but remain flexible in selecting a project type that fits the land. In addition, PR and the framing effect affect only some groups of developers. Practical implications This research provides awareness to professionals in the residential development field to make sound judgements, using Thailand as a case study. Originality/value This paper reveals the existence of the unproven prospect theory in the residential development field using an empirical study in Thailand as a case study.

This study aims to develop learning multimedia that can be used in learning for fifth grade elementary school students. Multimedia development is aimed at blood competence. This research is a development research with a 4-D model (four D model) proposed by Thiagarajan, which consists of four stages. The four stages are define, design, development and dissemination stages. disseminate). In the define stage, a curriculum review is conducted related to the competence of flat building. The results from the define phase are used as a reference for multimedia design. The next stage is design, at this stage has produced draft-1 results of the review and design in the previous stage. The next stage is development, at this stage draft I is validated by material experts and media experts . In general, material experts gave an assessment that multimedia draft I was in accordance with KTSP and constructivistic learning theory. Media experts judge that multimedia is easy to use. The first draft was valid with revisions clarifying blood circulation construction, simplifying the start menu, adding quiz 1, and adding motion animations at the beginning and end of the slide to make it more interesting. After the revised draft I developed into draft II to be tested in the classroom. Small scale 17 students in grade V SD N Purworejo Purworejo Regency. This trial is to find out the response of students. In this stage, an observation was also made by 1 teacher regarding the use of multimedia to complete the teacher's response questionnaire. The results of the teacher and student response questionnaire showed that 17 students were satisfied with multimedia draft II and students increasingly understood the blood flow system, circulatory structure, blood type and diseases of the blood. The revision towards draft III is the addition of applause as a tribute to students. As far as the stages of research have been carried out, it can be said that multimedia development can be used in the learning process and get positive responses from students. The next research phase is to conduct large-scale trials with more (two-class) research samples. Abstract:
Piaget's theory of cognitive development is a comprehensive theory about the nature and development of human intelligence first developed by Jean Piaget. It is primarily known as a developmental stage theory, but in fact, it deals with the nature of knowledge itself and how humans come gradually to acquire it, construct it, and use it. Moreover, Piaget claims the idea that cognitive development is at the centre of human organism and language is contingent on cognitive development. Below, there is first a short description of Piaget's views about the nature of intelligence and then a description of the stages through which it develops until maturity. This paper presented student’s way of thinking in mathematics learning. Jean Piaget’s theory brought here as the main concept applied on children thinking process in mathematics. Through observation, some fact emerges in every stage of development process. Those display on “Cant and But Can’t” Table.

Abstract:What makes a leader ethical? This paper critically examines the answer given by developmental theory, which argues that individuals can develop through cumulative stages of ethical orientation and behavior (e.g. Hobbesian, Kantian, Rawlsian), such that leaders at later developmental stages (of whom there are empirically very few today) are more ethical. By contrast to a simple progressive model of ethical development, this paper shows that each developmental stage has both positive (light) and negative (shadow) aspects, which affect the ethical behaviors of leaders at that stage. It also explores an unexpected result: later stage leaders can have more significantly negative effects than earlier stage leadership.

This grounded theory research paper presents an analysis of the motivation of young men in commencing a three-stage leadership development program and the critical influences impacting their decision to return for subsequent stages of the program. The key findings are that both people and program influences are significant. The key program influences initially are the community and group in Stage 1 along with certain program-specific elements. This creates a momentum towards Stage 2 where a three-day wilderness Solo experience emerges as the core category / central phenomenon – drawing participants from Stage 1 and being motivational towards Stage 3. Specific program elements and “lenses” are identified for future research.

Abstract:
Background: Erikson’s ego development theory is the most accepted theory that involves eight stages of psychosocial development over an individual`s all lifespan. The result of development in prior stages will influence the later stages. The elderly were mainly characterized by the central developmental tasks: achieving ego integrity vs. despair. The harvest in the last stage will be related to the attitude of facing death in the elderly. Methods: A cross-sectional study of elderly age from 65 to 90 years old (n = 292) was carried out and investigated via the Inventory of Psychosocial Balance. Pearson correlation and path analysis were performed in order to analyze the direct and indirect effect among the first seven stages with the eighth stage. Results: We found that all the eight stages were significantly related to each other, and comparing to the previous seven stages, “the generativity stage” (r = 0.77) was the most relevant stage with “ego integrity”. In all indirect and direct effects, the seventh stage had the greatest impact on the “ego integrity stage”; the direct effect was 0.89. Conclusions: Compared to the whole lifespan, adulthood possessed a higher influence on the elderly stage. We found that all the eight stages were significantly related to each other, and comparing the first seven stages, the “generativity stage” (r = 0.77) was the most relevant stage to “ego integrity”. Conclusions: Compared to the whole lifespan, adulthood possessed a higher influence on the elderly stage.

Abstract:
The aim of this paper is to sketch out the idea for a grand theory in development studies as the necessary research field for fruitful historical interdisciplinary, arguing that Mill’s stage theory provides such a powerful theoretical framework able to contextualize, develop, and integrate the multiple, diverse, and middle-range contemporary strands in development studies. Second, an attempt is made to reconstitute Mill’s stages theory of economic development placing it at the center of his political economy. We claim that Mill’s theory of economic development implies that the dialectical relation between knowledge/innovation (human capital) and nature (natural capital) accelerates the course of economic change. In Mill’s analysis, the dialectical relation between knowledge and nature penetrates through culture, which is regarded by Mill as a structural element of each stage of economic development. By highlighting the importance of knowledge in the transition between different stages of economic development, and by proposing a reassessed interpretation of Mill’s stages theory of economic development, we propose that in Mill’s political economy both innovation and nature play a pivotal role in accessing sustainable economic development.

Professor Dunning first developed this theory, which describes the division of net outward direct investment into four distinct stages of a country’s economic development, and later increased it to five. The theory has been developed for 40 years, and whether it can survive and still play a guiding role in national development is the focus of people’s concern. Based on the previous studies of scholars, this paper conducts an empirical study on “individual” countries. Thus it is concluded that the theory in its net foreign direct investment and economic development of the important relationship of the original is still valid, but from the cross section, the measures to be improved, and the theory of the fifth stage of the development of a new understanding

Abstract The development of internet public opinion presents a certain ecological characteristics. According to the different characteristics, this paper divides internet public opinion into five stages. This paper focuses on the first stage in internet public opinion, from the perspective of qualitative and quantitative analysis, to have a definition of embryonic stage, characteristics, as well as composition. Then this paper analyzes the causes of the formation mechanism in internet public opinion’s embryonic stage with the method of game theory. After that, the concepts of hot source factors are introduced to construct the conceptual model of embryonic stage in internet public opinion. Finally, aiming at different types of hot source factors (internet public opinion events), we put forward the effective means to guide and control the development of embryonic stage.

Full text
Abstract:
We consider stochastic population processes (Markov jump processes) that develop as a consequence of the occurrence of random events at random time intervals. The population is divided into subpopulations or compartments. The events occur at rates that depend linearly on the number of individuals in the different described compartments. The dynamics is presented in terms of Kolmogorov Forward Equation in the space of events and projected onto the space of populations when needed. The general properties of the problem are discussed. Solutions are obtained using a revised version of the Method of Characteristics. After a few examples of exact solutions we systematically develop short-time approximations to the problem. While the lowest order approximation matches the Poisson and multinomial heuristics previously proposed, higher-order approximations are completely new. Further, we analyse a model for insect development as a sequence ofEdevelopmental stages regulated by rates that are linear in the implied subpopulations. Transition to the next stage competes with death at all times. The process ends at a predetermined stage, for example, pupation or adult emergence. In its simpler version all the stages are distributed with the same characteristic time.

Abstract:
Pedagogical theory is one of the criteria for the development of personality, especially relevant in the period of distance education of medical students through self-fulfilment, self-education, self-esteem. The purpose of the study was to analyse the development of personality and establish the role of pedagogical theory in the development of the personality of the medical student. The basis of this purpose was proposed to include four stages of methodological justification, among which the first stage is the coverage of the individual as a concept and its features; the second stage – analysis of pedagogical theory and its significance in the education of medical students; the third stage of the study was to assess the role of distance learning, its positive aspects and shortcomings; the fourth stage is the connection of pedagogical theory with distance learning and their influence on the development of personality among medical students. The study evaluates the impact of pedagogical education on the development of the personality of a medical student during distance learning. The significant contribution of pedagogical theory (education and skill) in the development of the personality of a medical student during distance learning is substantiated. It is found out that during pedagogical education the medical student gets education by studying educational subjects, and receives personal and scientific development as a result. Under the influence of pedagogical education, the study identified comprehensive development, self-improvement, proper self-esteem, self-education, which is so necessary to achieve the goal and personal development in society. It is determined that during distance learning it is faster and more correct for a student to develop themselves as a personality. The correct approach of the teacher accelerates the process of development

Abstract:
A recent advance to the ‘classic’ grounded theory approach of Glaser and Strauss’ seminal work has been the development of constructivist grounded theory. While constructivist grounded theory has significant utility, centre stage diagrams were developed by the authors to help integrate ‘storied meaning’ and diagramming into a method of data collection, analysis and theory development/presentation. Centre stage diagrams are co-constructed by the researcher and participant and use the participant’s own life course, language and conceptual visualization of their subjective experience and are created over prolonged engagement. Centre stage diagrams are reached by the researcher and participant mutually engaged and interacting with two inter-related questions: i) what is the centre stage storyline in the lived representation of the phenomenon under study? and ii) who is centre stage in that lived experience? Our work in late-stage Parkinson’s disease is used to illustrate this approach to theory building and generating constructivist grounded theory. Centre stage diagrams have potential for development as a practice tool and/or as an independent research method.

Abstract:
The article explains the objective reason for the emergence of documentology along with documentation and documentary studies, the relevance and practical significance for library science and bibliography. Attention is drawn to the outstanding role of Paul Otlet (Paul Marie Ghislain Otlet; 1868–1944) in the promotion and development of the theoretical foundations of the general theory of the document. The concept of three worlds, in particular, “the world of logical content of books, libraries, computer memory, and the like”, developed by Karl Popper (Karl Raimund Popper; 1902–1994) enabled to bring documentology to the level of a philosophical discipline. The stages of development of documentology are defined. The first stage embraces the late 19th – first half of the 20th centurys, the second covers the mid-20th century (1950–60s), when in the USSR it was known as “documentalistics”. Simultaneously, since the early 1960s, the document science has been developing with its specific methodology, individual acts and systems of documenting and creating documents, and on this foundation, their complexes and systems (the third stage). The documentation is contradictory: it claims to study both documents as proper objects, and those objects of workflow management, which have got the term “records” used in the Western countries. The fourth stage of development of the document general theory originates in the second half of the 1980s. In the early 1990s, Moscow State Institute of Culture proposed the term documentology to be used for the general theory of documents. The discipline core embraces the issues related to the conceptual apparatus, functional analysis of documents, study of their characteristics, parameters and properties, document classification, as well as study of the documents as a means of communication and an element of document collections.

An alternative to Maslow's formulation, ERG theory was presented during a later historical period than its predecessor, and at an earlier stage of its author's life. Importance. The article analyzes the stages of development of tourism marketing as a field of scientific knowledge in the theory of marketing. Objectives. The purpose of the present research was to analyze the formation and development of the theory of tourist marketing abroad and in Russia. Methodology. The study was based on the content and comparative analysis of foreign and domestic fundamental works on the theory of tourist marketing. Results. The theory of tourist marketing was a logical continuation of the development of the theory of service marketing as a response to the formation of a service-type economy. In the process of evolution of the theory of tourist marketing, it went through two stages. The first stage (1965 – mid-1990s) was devoted to the study of the characteristics of marketing activities in the field of tourism and hospitality at the microenvironment level. The second stage began in the mid-1990s. It was the study of marketing technologies at the level of meso- and macrosystems. Conclusions. The conducted analysis showed that the domestic theory of tourist marketing is derived from foreign studies in this area. In addition, the author distinguishes two main stages in the development of marketing theory in tourism according to the object of study.

Abstract:
The article presents main directions of the criticism of P.Ya. Galperin’s theory of the stage-by-stage formation of mental actions and concepts (SFMA) from the early days of its development (1950s) up to the present days. Four directions of the criticism are discussed: from the general psychological, educational psychological, pedagogical and developmental psychological perspectives. From the standpoint of general psychology, the main objections are related to the idea of internalization as the basic mechanism for the emergence of mental processes; it is argued that the transformation of the material form into the ideal form is not proven enough in the SFMA theory. From the standpoint of educational psychology, the main critical remarks refer to the explanation of the formation of new actions and concepts as not being supported by facts. The objections to this criticism are based on the idea of alternative research methodology. From the standpoint of pedagogy, critical remarks concern the stage-by-stage formation as a pedagogical method. Objections to this criticism are related to an alternative understanding of the correlation between learning and thinking. From the standpoint of developmental psychology, the basic objection is that the SFMA focuses entirely on the ‘aktualgenese’, ignoring the ontogenetic development. The paper concludes with an outline of the developmental perspectives of the SFMA theory.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to address the stages of development of effectuation theory and highlight the progression from the early years’ conceptual articles to the recent empirical papers, characterized by specific, measurable research questions. Design/methodology/approach In total, 81 peer-reviewed academic journal articles featuring effectuation as a main subject were analyzed using Scandura and Williams’ (2000) modified version of McGrath’s typology of research strategies. The framework of Edmonson and McManus (2007) is employed to evaluate the maturity of the research program. Findings The main outcome is to introduce four main streams linked to effectuation theory in the current scientific dialogue: innovation and product development, internationalization, effectuation and causation simultaneously, and entrepreneurial expertise. Research limitations/implications The current study is reliant on retrospective data, which might influence the accuracy and completeness of this study, which typically leads to rationalized versions of history-associated causal decision making. Practical implications This study illustrates why effectuation theory should no longer be associated only with new ventures and startups. The majority of recent studies have presented the results of effectuation logic in the context of established companies. Social implications This follow-up review presents evidence that effectuation research has moved on from the nascent to the intermediate stage of development. Furthermore, the results indicate that it has already begun its transition toward the mature stage of development. Originality/value This study reveals the ongoing spirited battle between the convergent and divergent groups involved in the scientific debate around effectuation theory.

Thelen et al. not only offer an important new theoretical account of the Stage 4 object permanence error but provide the foundation of a new theory of cognitive development that is grounded in action. The success of dynamic field theory as a more general account of cognitive functioning, however, will depend on the degree to which it can model more generative capacities that are not limited to simple choice situations. Imitation and problem solving are suggested as two capacities that might be productively modeled within their approach.

Abstract:
The present paper gives summary about some development theories which focuses on how development of reading takes place in a child. It then focuses on one particular theory, i.e. the Phase theory by Ehri (1999) where this theory mentions with the help of four stages how a child goes from the stage of no knowledge of letters to full knowledge of letters in children. Though this theory has been criticized by some but it is still considered as the theory which explains the basic stages of development in a child while reading while refuting the earlier theories on development of reading. Further, this paper discusses how this theory can be used as a form of instruction for children to develop reading comprehension.

Abstract:
While there is a fairly robust literature on information and communications technology (ICT) national policy, there are missing elements in the existing research. First, nation states at different stages of development are generally not considered in terms of what kind of ICT national policy is optimal. Second, a stakeholder perspective on the creation and implementation of the policy is typically absent. This theoretical paper attempts to fill these gaps by combining the idea of nations at different stages of development with stakeholder theory. The authors also integrate past thinking and research about information technology transfer, i.e., ICT outcomes, into a Stage-Stakeholder Model of ICT Policy. Directions for future research are proposed.

Abstract:
This article focuses on the decision of problems of increase of efficiency of introduction of innovation in industrial enterprise. The publication includes a description of the author's approach to innovation in the industrial enterprise, implemented in the form of a database. The main functions of the database are divided into two main stages – preparatory and informative. The functions of the preparatory stage include the collection of information about the industrial enterprise, the rationale for the choice of innovation, determination of the composition and administration of training (retraining), justification of the technical appearance of innovation. At the supporting stage, the database allows information support in the development and implementation of innovations in terms of timing, volume and costs, to carry out a priori and a posteriori evaluation of the quality of innovation on the basis of situational norms, as well as support for decision-making on innovation management in the industrial enterprise. The database is based on the theory of system analysis, the basic principles of the theory of innovation, methods of situational modeling, graph theory and probability theory. The results of the developed database can be used by modern industrial enterprises in the implementation of innovations.

The purpose of this article was to examine the conceptual and empirical foundations of individual drug use stage development and progression related to tobacco, alcohol, and drugs. This review indicated that while greater acceptance of the idea that drug use is a complex process, the majority of stage conceptualizations suffer from significant limitations. Although limited, research conducted to date is supportive of the existence of intra-drug use stages of acquisition for cigarettes and other drugs. Research examining inter-drug use progression among youth supports the idea of a generally invariant sequence at a macro-sequential level, involving nonuse to legal drug use, marijuana use, and finally other illegal drug use.

Abstract:
This article tests a prediction made by Processability Theory (Pienemann, 1998; 2005) that morphological acquisition is the driving force in English as a second language (ESL) development. It first outlines the model of psycholinguistic processing assumed by Processability Theory and shows how stages fall out from it. It then presents the hypothesis that morphological information propels development before sentence-level processing at stage 5 and describes what this should predict for ESL learners. A study is then presented that tested these predictions on oral data collected from two Mandarin speaking, adolescent, ESL learners over one academic year. The study found the acquisition of structures both predicted and not predicted by Processability Theory. While the results afford some evidence consistent with the claims about stages of development, they also provide counter-evidence to the hypothesis that the acquisition of morphology drives development up to stage 5: one learner acquired the predicted syntax for stages 3 and 4 without the morphology, and both learners acquired syntactic structures before associated morphology. Indeed, the findings suggest that the acquisition of morphology, and syntax, varies with learner orientation. To explain these findings, the article presents a proposal that draws on both Processability Theory and generative approaches to second language acquisition (SLA), and concludes by considering the implications of the study.

Abstract:
In his theory of moral development, Kohlberg (1976) stressed that the reasoning behind a moral decision is more important in determining a person's stage of development than the decision itself. Students in introductory psychology and human development courses may have difficulty appreciating this distinction, as well as the differences among Kohlberg's stages. An activity is described in which arguments from congressional debates provide a real-world moral dilemma, to which students can apply Kohlberg's theory. Suggestions on how to use the arguments are presented, as well as possible discussion topics on the validity and usefulness of the theory.

Abstract:
The article analyzes the process of formation, empirical verification and development of the theory of the Second Modern. It is established that it can be described with the help of four stages: the stage of actualization of the renewed essence of social and political; the stage of approval in scientific political science discourse; stage of development; a stage of empirical application and evolution. It is proved that among the features of the new form of modernity, which could be explained with the help of the theory of the Second Modern, the most important is the ambiguous in its consequences, the transformation of political signs, in particular, the increase in the degree of openness of national political systems, accompanied by growing uncertainty of the functioning of political institutions; strengthening of the absolutization of traditional value-normative systems of political regulation; strengthening the importance of political self-organization of citizens, the formation of new forms of democracy and civil society; the complication and differentiation of the space-time characteristics of the political, in particular, the «glocalization»of space and the «compression»of time. It is substantiated that the development of the theory of the Second Modern in modern political science reflects the transformation of the political essence in the new social conditions. All analyzed research interpretations of the Second Modernism state that the main direction of political change is the process of deinstitutionalization of political institutions, which takes place in sufficiently diverse forms: through new identification practices destroying the old institution; by forming «normal deviations», that is, due to a change in the notion of norms; changing the functions of the institution; weakening the legal form of institutionalization; changing the basis of legitimization, when instead of legal legitimization, social legitimization becomes more meaningful. Abstract:
Criticisms of Piaget's stage theory have led neo-Piagetians to redefine stage change as an age-related-and possibly spurt-like-shift in the level of diverse cognitive operations. This study tests a hypothesised stage shift according to this definition, using longitudinal methodology in the period of early infancy. Case's theory of development predicts a stage transition beginning at about 4 months. To test this prediction, infants' performance on a battery of six sensorimotor tasks was examined weekly as they crossed the age range between 2.5 and 5.5 months. For all tasks, a pass rate of 50% was first observed between 3.7 and 4.6 months, and task profiles showed some evidence of clustering or synchrony. In addition, onset age data indicated intra-individual synchrony in task acquisitions, suggesting discontinuous or spurt-like changes in overall development. These results are consistent with a neo-Piagetian definition of stage change, and lend support to Case's model of early cognitive development.

Manufacturing green products is an important way for sustainable development of enterprises. In view of power shortage of green product innovation caused by the income uncertainty, combined with currently domestic conditions, the development of green products is divided into three stages: the innovation stage, the promotion stage and the popularization stage. Based on the game theory and related optimization approaches, how to make decision by manufactures at every stage are analyzed. The results show that, under the certain internal and external conditions, the innovator of the green product has the first-mover advantage, and the competition among peer manufactures is the important force and effective channel to spread the green products, and thus the consumer welfare is also increasing. The conclusions are helpful to guide the formulation and implementation of manufactures’ green-product development strategy, as well as the cultivation and development of the consumer market.

Abstract:
At the present stage of development of science and practice of audit, its theory is presented in fragments. In the period before the emergence of mass public discontent with the work of auditors (which was a consequence of the collapse of Enron, WorldCom, Parmalat and other institutions), the main efforts of scientists were aimed at substantiating the needs of audit, its methods, principles, concepts, and postulates. Today, the need to concentrate efforts on the search for a qualitatively new, ideological level of audit theory is obvious. The purpose of the article is to reveal the essence of the classical core of audit theory, as well as to substantiate the need to expand the content of audit theory by borrowing provisions from other modern general economic and accounting theories. The authors have established the weaknesses of the theories (concepts) of audit, among them: a contradictory, non-systemic explanation of the nature of audit; limitation of scientific borrowings from other economic and accounting theories; weak connection with the development of social and economic theories. The necessity for the formation of the classical core of the audit theory was substantiated; its essence and significance for the development of audit science were revealed. The logic of the determination of concepts and the classification of individual theoretical contributions to the classical core of the audit theory was put in order. A structural model of the development of science and practice of audit was proposed. The necessity of basic ideological and general economic borrowings to the audit theory was substantiated, among them: institutional and behavioral doctrines; concepts of sustainable development and digital economy; modern management theories (integral ideological structure). Based on the trends in the development of the digital economy, the emergence of the specialization of an IT auditor was predicted, whose task will be to assess the effectiveness of setting up digitalization processes to objectively reflect the effectiveness of business.
