Abstract:
Recorded video data must be clear for accuracy and faster analysis during post-processing, which often requires video stabilization systems to remove undesired motion. In this paper, we proposed a hybrid method to estimate the motion and to stabilize videos by the switching function. This method switched the estimated motion between a Kanade–Lucus–Tomasi (KLT) tracker and an IMU-aided motion estimator. It facilitated the best function to stabilize the video in real-time as those methods had numerous advantages in estimating the motion. To achieve this, we used a KLT tracker to correct the motion for low rotations and an IMU-aided motion estimator for high rotation, owing to the poor performance of the KLT tracker during larger movements. Furthermore, a Kalman filter was used to remove the undesired motion and hence smoothen the trajectory. To increase the frame rate, a multi-threaded approach was applied to execute the algorithm in the array. Irrespective of the situations exposed to the experimental results of the moving camera from five video sequences revealed that the proposed algorithm stabilized the video efficiently.

Abstract:
Abstract The current research concerns the problem of video stabilization “in a point”, which aims to stabilize all video frames according to one chosen reference frame to produce a new video, as by a static camera. Similar task importance relates providing static background in the video sequence that can be usable for correct measurements in the frames when studying dynamic objects in the video. For this aim we propose an efficient combined approach, called “3×3OF9×9”. It fuses our the previous development for fast and rigid 2D video stabilization [2] with the well-known Optical Flow approach, applied by parts via Otsu segmentation, for eliminating the influence of moving objects in the video. The obtained results are compared with those, produced by the commercial software Warp Stabilizer of Adobe-After-Effects CS6.

Abstract:
Global motion estimation between two successive frames is important to the process of video stabilization. In the proposed approach, the estimation of global motion was based on the background feature points (BFPS). First, feature points (FPS) were collected from the input video by FAST operator; second, feature point’s descriptor and matching were based on FREAK operator. The M-SAC is used to classify the BFPS. Last, the six parameters of the affine transform model to calculate the interframe motion estimation vector. The experiment results show that he proposed method can stabilize inter-frame jitter, in the meanwhile, it improve the video quality effectively.

Abstract:
The use of shore-based video systems has become a very popular and accessible low-cost tool for coastal monitoring given their capability to deliver continuous and high-resolution temporal data over large enough spatial scales. However, the reliability of the final image products can be compromised by external factors, sometimes overlooked, that can alter the image geometry over time. In particular, unwanted camera movement, produced either by thermal or mechanical effects, can lead to significant geo-rectification errors if not properly corrected. This study addresses an alternative straightforward method to stabilize an either continuous or subsampled image sequence based on state-of-the-art techniques and available routines.Recorded Presentation from the vICCE (YouTube Link): https://youtu.be/xX1CrvPQpK8

Abstract:
The paper shows how closed-loop control procedure, using the algorithm Proportional Integrative derivative (PID) was applied to improve the photo and video cameras stability correction in real time. The stability system contains an Attitude Heading reference System (AHRS) sensor that is connected to a microcontroller that will make the operations for measuring angles of rotation (roll, pitch and yaw) acquired from a camera displaced on a suspended cable. Closed loop PID algorithm applied to stabilize the system was implemented as programming subroutines dedicated to Atmega162 microcontroller, at which they were recorded and processed in real time as input signals sensor information measured by the AHRS system. Programming based on a closed loop process control through actuators ordered 3 servo-motors for real-time correction of camera rotation angles. In this way it could be provided the positioning cameras error compensation, the errors being caused by different perturbing external factors. The adopted solution has achieved a cost reduction necessary to stabilize the cameras placed in mobile systems. The solution ensures also to increase the stabilization efficiency reported to the case of human operator intervention.

Abstract:
[abstFig src='/00290003/12.jpg' width='300' text='Spherical video stabilization' ] We propose a method for stabilizing spherical videos by estimating and removing the effect of camera rotation using dense optical flow fields. By derotating each frame in the video to the orientation of its previous frame in two dense approaches, we estimate the complete 3 DoF rotation of the camera and remove it to stabilize the spherical video. Following this, any chosen area on the spherical video (equivalent of a normal camera’s field of view) is unwarped to result in a ‘rotation-less virtual camera’ that can be oriented independent of the camera motion. This can help in perception of the environment and camera motion much better. In order to achieve this, we use dense optical flow, which can provide important information about camera motion in a static environment and can have several advantages over sparse feature-point based approaches. The spatial regularization property of dense optical flow provides more stable motion information as compared to tracking sparse points and negates the effect of feature point outliers. We show superior results as compared to using sparse feature points alone.

There have been lots of new drone applications in recent years. Drones are also often used in the field of national security forces. The aim of this work is to design and implement a tool intended for crowd behavior analysis in drone videodata. This tool ensures identification of suspicious behavior of persons and facilitates its localization. The main benefits include the design of a suitable video stabilization algorithm to stabilize small jitters, as well as trace back of the lost scene. Furthermore, two anomaly detectors were proposed, differing in the method of feature vector extraction and background modeling. Compared to the state of the art approaches, they achieved comparable results, but at the same time they brought the possibility of online data processing.

This thesis deals with digital image stabilization. It contains a brief overview of the problem and available methods for digital image stabilization. The aim was to design and implement image stabilization system in JAVA, which is designed for RapidMiner. Two new stabilization methods have been proposed. The first is based on the motion estimation and motion compensation using Full-search and Three-step search algorithms. The basis of the second method is the detection of object boundaries. The functionality of the proposed method was tested on video sequences with contain visible shake of the scene, which has beed created for this purpose. Testing results show that with the proper set of input parameters for the object border detection method, successful stabilization of the scene is achieved. The rate of error reduction between images is approximately about 65 to 85%. The output of the method is stabilized image sequence and a set of metadata collected during stabilization, which can be further processed in an environment of RapidMiner.

Abstract:
Several devices have allowed the acquisition and editing ofvideos in various circumstances, such as digital cameras, smartphones and other mobile devices. However, the use ofcameras under adverse conditions usually results in non-precise motion and occurrence of shaking, which may compromise the stability of the obtained videos. To overcome such problem, digital stabiliza- tion aims to correct camera motion oscillations that occur in the acquisition process, particularly when the cameras are mobile and handled in adverse con- ditions, through software techniques, without the use of specific hardware, to enhance visual quality either with the intention of enhancing human percep- tion or improving final applications, such as detection and tracking of objects. This is important in order to avoid hardware cost and indispensable for videos already recorded. This work proposed three methods to perform digital video stabilization and two other techniques to evaluate video stabilization quality. 1.

Abstract:
Unbalance is one of the most common mechanical faults in rotating machines. Different balancing methods to stabilize the unbalanced rotor are investigated in this paper. One approach of using solely the accelerometers data and intricate vibration theories is discussed. Although the method can eliminate the need of balancing equipment, and the amplitude and phase of the machine’s vibrations can be identified, it needs numerous measurements, and in some cases is impossible to be implemented. Therefore, a novel approach with reduced number of required measurements is proposed. Our method only requires two measurements, one from the original unbalanced condition, and the other from modified situation after adding an arbitrary trial mass to a marked location on the rotor. The rotating rotor is being video recorded during this process. The goal is to identify the position of the marked area whenever the amplitude of the sinusoidal vibration response reaches the maximum. To demonstrate the effectiveness of our method, an experiment is setup. Vibration of healthy and unbalanced flywheel attached on a three-phase induction motor is analyzed in both time and frequency domains. The rotation of the motor is video recorded under original unbalanced and modified situations. The correction mass and its adding location are calculated using proposed method. The vibration analysis of balancing result demonstrated that the system got dynamically balanced by adding right value and location of a mass. The method proposed and developed in this paper is more cost effective with the same accuracy as the other contested balancing techniques.

Abstract:
To develop a better defrosting control system on finned evaporators of a refrigeration system, a study is conducted to better quantify the frosting and defrosting processes by using an infrared thermometer to determine the frost surface temperature. For gradual frost deposition a slow variation in surface emissivity is expected, while defrosting process is characterized by a sudden change of this property. As an indicator for the defrosting initiation control mechanism, the times at which the IR signals stabilize at different conditions (Reynolds number, cold surface temperature and ambient temperature) are reported along with the terminal mass concentration of a defined frosting process. On the other hand, the abrupt variation of surface emissivity indicates the termination of the defrosting process. Removable fins are used to measure frost weight, and a video microscope is used to determine the frost thickness. Defrosting initiation time and durations marked by melting temperature are reported as a function of initial mass concentration and defrosting base surface temperature. The presented results could be used to design a better defrosting control system with better accuracy and energy saving features.

Abstract:
Supersonic steam injector is a passive jet pump which operates without rotating power source or machinery and it has high heat-transfer performance due to the direct contact condensation between supersonic steam flow and subcooled water jet at the mixing nozzle. Since the supersonic steam injector has a quite simple and compact structure, it has been considered to apply to the safety system for the Next-generation nuclear power plant. There are various researches about the formulation and modeling of operating, flow structure and heat transfer characteristics of both vapor and liquid flow. However, there are few models which are capable of evaluating heat and momentum exchange at the boundary layer between supersonic steam flow and water jet. Since heat and momentum exchange is considered to have a major impact to operating characteristics of a supersonic steam injector, it is necessary to formulate the model which simulates such complex phenomena at the boundary layer with high accuracy. The objective of the present study is to investigate the relation between the thermal characteristics and interfacial behavior between the flows to develop a model which is able to assess the heat and momentum transfer characteristic and the flow structure of the supersonic steam injector in detail. In the present study, a visible test section of water jet-centered supersonic steam injector was adopted to conduct visualization of the water jet with high speed video camera. In addition, special measurement instrumentations of temperature and pressure were applied to obtain radial distribution of temperature and pressure in the mixing nozzle of the injector. There were large velocity and temperature gaps between the water jet and the supersonic steam flow which indicated the existence of large momentum and heat exchange at the boundary layer of the flows. It was clarified that there was pressure gradient which was considered to stabilize the water jet in the mixing nozzle from calculation of radial distribution of total pressure gradient. From the visualization measurement, it was also clarified the existence of a complex wavy behavior on the surface of the water jet. The wave velocity was estimated by the image processing technique and the cross-correlation method. It was found that there was a relation between the wave velocity and heat transfer characteristics in the supersonic steam injector. It is suggested that the enthalpy ratio between the liquid subcool enthalpy and steam condensation enthalpy as well as the Jacob number between both flows could be an indication factor for the effect of the wavy behavior on the condensation.
