Mahmud, Faisal. "Järva Community Center : A social, cultural and religious hub for Järva." Thesis, KTH, Arkitektur, 2011. http://urn.kb.se/resolve?urn=urn:nbn:se:kth:diva-41494.

Abstract:
Why this proposal makes sense... The aim of this project is to research the relationship between a mosque and the functions of a community center. It is located between Tensta and Rinkeby, two suburbs in the north of Stockholm. I believe that the two areas can gain a lot by a shared community center due to both positive and negative similarities. The proximity to Järvafältet and Kista is a great plus in the equation. Kista is another suburb in the Järva area and it has been a huge success with regards to education, entrepreneurship and the IT-industry that re- sides there. My goal was to create a contemporary mosque that stays true to Islamic architectural concepts while I develop a new aesthetic language for the spaces that a mosque requires. How can we use the mosque as an attracting catalyst in order to reach out to the inhabitants in these areas? A lot of people in Järva have roots in other parts of the world. There are a lot of vibrant communities from all over the world in Tensta and Rinkeby. People have great respect for faith and religious matters and consider it to be a major part of their identity. What spaces can a mosque share with the community center for opti- mal use and convenience? My proposal takes into consideration that a mosque has a limited num- ber of days during the year when the worshippers need all the space that they can get. I have therefore proposed to put the mosque next to the sports hall so that the sports hall can be used for prayer and spiritual activities during special events such as the month of Ramadan and Friday prayers. When the sports hall is not used by the mosque it goes back to being just a regular sports hall with an intricate roof. What makes it a community center? To make the project more compelling I have added other functions in order to address the needs and wishes of the inhabitants. There is also a library, a food court, lecture hall/cinema, offices, conference rooms, seminar rooms and a class room.

Abstract:
This study investigates the restructuring and alignment processes within the Gauteng Department of Sports, Arts, Culture and Recreation. The nature of the study was neither inclusive nor an exclusive study accommodate every input of the sub-directorate, and review the staff capacity to meet with set objectives of the Department. It also investigates some of the problematic areas shortsighted by the restructuring and alignment processes in the hub and areas of concerns which included: Accommodation (office space and sports fields); support of staff by senior managers; contracting and performance reviews; transport; progress review meeting of the hub system; budgeting and its implementation; equipment demand; administration tools leading severe problems; contracting of contract workers leading severe problems; and overtime and excessive workload in the hubs. It was showed in the research that problems occurred due to the inappropriate alignment of internal programmes complimented with inadequate human resources strategic planning and implementation. The problem of restructuring and alignment are due to oversight on the processes and implementation of the programmes at the foundational level, the lack of follow-ups on Service Level Agreement (SLA) with local government (still not signed), interdepartmental and intergovernmental integration strategy not in place, inadequate facilities for offices, consultation with community and stakeholders which only took place at the later stage. The respondents seriously commented regarding the organisational structure that has been changed thrice since its implementation. This led to overcrowding of staff hubs, with no career path strategy. Further causes are lack of alignment of human resource management strategy with programmes, and structural arrangement of all the departmental sub-directorates, confusing the implementation of programmes and the reporting systems. Considering the challenges of restructuring and alignment at the Gauteng Department of Sports, Arts, Culture and Recreation, the study concludes that there is a need for further restructuring and alignment of the human resource strategy to manage the objectives of the Department effectively and efficiently.

Abstract:
After domestic air transportation was deregulated in the united states, the american air carriers have turned their networks into hub-and-spoke systems. The american case study reveals that the economic mechanisms at the basis of such systems are the scale and scope economies typical of air transport, as well as the competition between the airlines. The liberalisation of intra-european air transport requires the full understanding of these mechanisms : are intra-european hub-and-spoke networks liable to develop and be as strong a configuration as it is in the usa? all the european national air carriers are already based at a "natural hub", but the operations there do not always look like those at the american hubs. On the other hand, the current evolution seems to favour the hypothesis of the growth of hubbing within europe. A duopoly model is built to test this hypothesis. It is a two-stage game, in routing pattern and price, each sub-game being of complete but imperfect information. It produces conditions, in terms of origin-destination traffic and market length, at which a hub-and-spoke network should be economically viable. These conditions also show that such networks are liable to constitute a generalised configuration at equilibrium only if the equilibrium on some markets is a mixed-strategy equilibrium. This result can be interpreted in two different but complementary ways. This configuration may either be fundamentally unstable, or it can be one of the best replies of each firm when faced with uncertainty about its rival's choice. The lack of adequate statistics prevents any application of the model to europe. Its results have nevertheless been compared with the available data. Owing to this comparison, the relevance of the model has been tested, using popper's criterion of falsifiability. The model was also used as a framework in which the european perspectives of future network configurations have been qualitatively appreciated

Briki, Walid. "La dynamique du momentum psychologique en sport." Thesis, Montpellier 1, 2012. http://www.theses.fr/2012MON14002/document.

Full text
Abstract:
The present thesis aimed to examine the characteristics of complexity and dynamics of psychological momentum (PM) in sport. A first series of studies attempted to explore qualitatively (Study 1) and quantitatively (Studies 2, 3, and 4) these characteristics in natural situations of sport competition. Study 1 evidenced the richness of PM contents, its mechanisms of emergence (dissonance, consonance, and thought flow disturbance), as well as its forms of development over time (amplification processes). These findings suggest that PM is rooted in a meaningful history of events. Studies 2, 3, and 4 showed that certain affective contents, such as competitive anxiety and self-confidence, can change abruptly during PM phases, which suggests the nonlinear character of PM. Consequently, a second series of studies (Studies 5, 6, 7, and 8) was then conducted in order to experimentally test the potential properties of non linearity and history-dependence of PM through the lens of the dynamical systems approach. These studies were based on ascending (positive momentum) versus descending (negative momentum) scenarios of performance that were virtually (Studies 5 and 6) or actually (Study 7) experienced by actors, or that were seen from the point of view of a spectator (Study 8). Variations of PM displayed patterns of negative hysteresis (Studies 5, 6, and 8) and critical boundary that was lagged so that negative PM was triggered faster than positive PM. The negative hysteresis that was found among spectators (Study 8) displayed an asymmetry that reflected a faster triggering for positive PM. These findings evidence the properties of non linearity and history-dependence of PM, show the influence of the degree of involvement in the situation on PM dynamics, and support the general hypothesis that PM is a complex and dynamical phenomenon

Abstract:
Supporters of a nutritional supplement, β-Hydroxy-β-Methylbutyrate (HMB) supplementation, claim that it will increase the muscular strength gains and lean muscle mass gains seen during a resistance training program. It has been suggested that HMB supplementation does this by preventing muscle damage or by regenerating damaged muscle cell membranes. However, no research has evaluated the effect of HMB supplementation on low frequency fatigue. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to determine if three weeks of HMB supplementation could attenuate the effects of low frequency fatigue caused by eccentric muscle contractions of the tibialis anterior muscle. A total of 33 healthy recreationally active subjects (18 males, 15 females; 23.2 ± 4.3 yr) were recruited for this study. All subjects preformed 4 sets of 25 eccentric contractions of the tibialis anterior muscle through a range of motion of 30 degrees. Recovery measures were taken for 20 minutes after the fatigue protocol and at 48 and 96 hours of recovery. The recovery measures included: Maximum voluntary contraction peak torque, 10 Hz peak torque, 50 Hz peak torque, 10/50 Hz peak torque ratio, and EMG measurements. Each subject served as their own control and limbs were randomly assigned to pre-supplement or post-supplement limbs. Following the pre-supplement fatigue protocol and recovery measures each subject completed three weeks of 3g/day HMB supplementation. After the supplementation period the post-supplement fatigue protocol was completed and recovery measures were taken. The 10 Hz peak torque and the 10/50 Hz torque ratio in the pre-supplement limb was still significantly reduced at the 96-hour recovery measurement time, indicating that it was still showing low frequency muscle fatigue at this time. Furthermore, the post-supplement limb, recovered from the fatigue protocol faster, and did not show any signs of low frequency muscle fatigue at the 48-hour recovery measurement time. In addition the pre-supplement limb had significant maximum voluntary contraction torque deficit at the 48-hour recovery measurement time and the post-supplement limb showed no significant deficits. The main findings of this study were that three weeks of HMB supplementation attenuated low frequency fatigue and maximum voluntary contraction torque reduction after an eccentric fatigue protocol.

Abstract:
Enkäterna delades ut under lektionstid, men fylldes i hemma.

Using a comparative-static general equilibrium model in the context of the Eastern Hemisphere, this paper compares the economic effects of a “hub-andspokes” type of bilateral trade configuration (with Singapore being the hub) with those of a more comprehensive regional FTA(RTA). The model is augmented to account for the possibility of technology spillovers and its effective assimilation among participating economies. In particular, absorptive capacity, governance factor, proximity and institutional congruence on jointly determine an economy’s capacity to capture the technology that is transmitted from the developed spoke Japan to other regions.

Owing to the comprehensive implementation of two-day weekend in Taiwan since 2001, the public have had much more time to engage in a wide variety of leisure activities. Consequentially, the integration of sports and tourism has become the mainstream of leisure industry.Such activities, especially sport events, have been promoted actively by government and private enterprises in order to bring in crowds of tourists. Through an empirical study on the 33rd Hua Zong Cup Volleyball Championship organized by Tainan City Government, this work aims to investigate the economic benefits and tour desire as well as sports tourists’ attitude towards the integration of sports and tourism. Additionally, personal background information serves as independent variables in this study to explore the cognitive differences of people among various dimensions of the development of sport tourism. Participants in the 33rd Hua Zong Cup Volleyball Championship serve as subjects in this study. The data were collected through the questionnaire named “The development of sport tourism,” and were analyzed through descriptive statistics, one-way ANOVA and Pearson's correlation. The major findings of this study are summarized as follows: 1. The sports tourists are mainly young male students in low level of consumption who come from southern Taiwan. Most of then have participated in such activities for more than four times and show strong inclination to partake in such activities again. 2. For all subjects, the rank of participation motivations is interest of volleyball, inspecting and learning tactics, competing for the score of sport achievement. 3. Milkfish balls is not only the favorite cuisine for the sports tourists but also the most popular local specialty for them to purchase as gifts. 4. The patterns of diet of sports tourists in Hsuehchia district include western-styled breakfast chain store, bento for lunch/dinner, dissert is bread and beverage is bottled water. 5. The main purpose for the sports tourists is this sport event rather than tourism. 6. The sports tourists are satisfied with the arrangement of this sport event. 7. Some services not provided by the host are highly required. 8. The sports tourists look forward that the sport tourism and sport festival activities can be developed by the Hua Zong Cup.

Since 1944, Chicago Convention was signed, the contracting states reached a consensus on the issue of freedoms of air and begun to change the First to the Fifth freedom by signing bilateral agreements with other contracting states. But, with the development of aviation industries, increasing need of air carriers and globalizing, there were some problems found in the system, which was established by Chicago Convention. Therefore, the Sixth to the Ninth freedom were created to improve and solve the existed problems. At the same time, under the forming process of global networks, some countries' airports became Air Hub-and–Spokes airport, with the efforts of their governments. In order to earn more money, they started to fly though Sixth freedom to decrease their cost and enlarge their profits. This article will use six chapters to discuss above problems. In Chapter 1, I would like to briefly introduce the formation of the freedoms of air and how these concepts developed. In Chapter 2, I will discuss the bilateral and multilateral agreements, by the contracting states which were signed to change freedom of right with each other. In next charter, I will discuss how every state used Sixth freedom in this Chapter. In Chapter 4, I will focus on the agreements between the four countries (include Taiwan, People's Republic of China, Japan, and South Korea) in the North-East Asia. Also, I will compare the operation between the important international airports in those countries (Taiwan: Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport; People's Republic of China: Beijing Capital International Airport, Shanghai Pudong International Airport, Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, Hong Kong International Airport/ Chek Lap Kok Airport; Japan: Tokyo International Airport, Narita International Airport; South Korea: Incheon International Airport) by calculating the numbers of airplanes arrived and departed in one week. In Chapter 5, I will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of future development in Taiwan's aviation industry; also, I will try to discuss the relationship between us and People's Republic of China. In conclusion, I will try to make some suggestions to Taiwan's future development.

A collected and well-defined questionnaire was facilitated the investigation process. Raw data were analyzed in SPSS 10.0 with statistic method including independent-sample t-test, one-way ANOVA, and Chi-square test. Totally 1035 questionnaires were surveyed, and 833 questionnaires were valid for data analysis. The research founding comprises that the elementary school teachers participate recreational sports one time weekly, and participating duration are between 31 to 60 minutes. Most participators start the sport activity from 16:30 p.m. in a day. They often participate recreational sports on Saturday and Sunday as well. The information of recreational sports was gathered from their relatives. And the constraint of participation is timeless. The motivations of participating recreational sport activity are healthy-improving, the need of society, the search of knowledge, and the need of achievement. This research also found that the demographic variables have significantly and partially different on the participation behaviors and participation motivations. According to the above research finding, I provide some suggestions for the authority of education, school, teachers and the following research. I hope the research will improve the condition that the elementary school teachers participate in the leisure time activity. Finally the findings carry on the integrated discussion, and puts forward the correlated suggestions. Key words: participation motivations, participation behaviors, elementary teacher, leisure sport

Yuanlin, in Changhua County, is a populous township, but it has few public sporting areas. The question arose as to whether the citizens of Yuanlin could be satisfied with the limited sports resources available, and what might be done to help improve the situation for all who live there. Therefore, this study investigates how well these facilities serve the needs of Yuanlin’s residents. The research study shows that the public sporting facilities in Yuanlin provide the residents with space and materials to engage in activities of normal intensity, including badminton, basketball, jogging, hiking, and dancing. Most of the interviewees spend from 31 to 60 minutes on an average visit to these facilities. Most spend fewer than ten minutes in traveling to the activity areas, and usually travel by motorcycle or on foot. About 40% of those questioned are willing to pay a fee to use these public facilities. The most common obstacles that prevent people from using these facilities are busy work related to jobs or school. Satisfaction levels are high for those who have used the facilities for one to three years’ time. Daily participants are satisfied with educational services, the functions at the facilities, and their convenience. As expected, those who travel to these facilities by car find them less convenient than those who go by motorcycle or on foot. There appears to be little correlation between users’ satisfaction and the intensity or regularity of their use of the facilities. Profession is, however, highly related to participants’ levels of satisfaction with the facilities and their functions. Overall, it is safe to say that those who live near the facilities and therefore spend little time in traveling to them found the sports facilities most convenient. The researcher’s suggestions are as follows. First, Yuanlin’s administrators can designate certain narrow streets and lanes as cycling or walking trails in order to make them safe environments for these activities. Part-time township employees can begin to maintain the facilities’ environment and also the public restrooms. Also, public schools’ gymnasia can be opened to the public during non-school hours so that citizens can have multiple sporting choices available. Further, more sports clubs should be established in Yuanlin. In general, also, parents should encourage their children to exercise and play sports more often, and to master specific sports that they enjoy, so that in the future these games will become the children’s habitual pastimes. The researcher recommends that further study should be pursued to learn more about Yuanlin’s public cycling and walking trails.

Using one-on-one thorough interviews, and constantly ask “why”, make a chain of questions inquiries and repeat it, until it cannot continue. The result of this study is the people who support Chin-Hui Tsao account for 70% of the total number of respondent, most of them are under the 25-year-old of young people. The interviewees don’t mind the mistakes he had made in the past, because he successfully marketing Taiwan to the world. This also means that the young people think the concept of self-national sovereignty is quite deep, they think our country should be a country, should not be suppressed in the international community, need to be accepted and recognized. It also shows that young interviewees are very concern about being recognized and confirmed, this self-worth is what the interviewees aspire to.
