Abstract:
Abstract. This paper presents a review of current trends and perspectives of sport management in Latin America. A systematic review of published studies on sport management in the region from 1990 to 2021 was carried out. It is concluded that there is an ambiguity in the distinction between sports administration and sports management. An epistemological reflection is proposed that leads to think that while sport administration is a branch of administration applied to the field of sport, sport management is a broader interdisciplinary field of study that contains theories, methods and discourses from the economic and social sciences, sport sciences and education sciences. Sport management includes sport administration, but is not limited to it; it is broader. Both have the purpose of planning, organizing, executing and controlling the resources available to meet the objectives of sports organizations, but sports management does it in a more holistic way by including tools from administration, but also from other areas of knowledge. Finally, practical applications of this dissertation in the sports sector are presented, and future lines of research are proposed.Key words: management, administration, sport, Latin America, epistemology.

Abstract:
Purpose: the article deals with the disclosure of the problem of state management of sports development in terms of its legislative support, which should facilitate the development of sports in the "European model", namely the involvement of local authorities, to eliminate it further in the formation of a modern system of training athletes in Ukraine. Material: a set of theoretical research methods were used: generalization of literature, materials from the Internet, content of previous own scientific developments, as well as abstraction, idealization, analysis and synthesis, induction and deduction. Results: The article presents the results of the study of the quality and features of the legislative acts that regulate the development of sports in Ukraine. It is proved that the problem in domestic sport is that the adopted legislative and regulatory acts in Ukraine are not those that effectively contribute to the development of the sphere according to the "European model". After all, part of their content is marked by declarative nature, the absence of clearly established standards and effective forms of control, the weak use of decentralization processes. It is the decentralization of power by its potential that creates powerful organizational and financial prerequisites for reforming the physical education and sports sector in the "European model". And this, in the case of a higher level of public administration, can ensure a new, modern quality of the sport. This model, while providing competent governance, combines the resources and capabilities of the state, including the funds of the specialized government, ministries and agencies involved in physical education and sports, as well as local authorities and non-governmental organizations (national sports federations, federations, existing in provinces and cities, sports clubs) and more. Conclusions: The current state and level of public administration of sport is critical and hinders positive change in this social sphere. The negative will obviously affect the activities of the newly created Ministry Youth and Sports of Ukraine. This Ministry, paying attention to Sport for All, will need to start almost from scratch in the sport of excellence, that is, to create the legal, organizational and financial preconditions for the qualitative improvement of the state of the entire field of sport. Abstract:
The article addresses the essence and peculiarities of state regulation of elite sport functioning in China. The elite sport in China holds pride of place in social life – politics, economics, international relations. It is shown that all activities in the field of sport, including the elite sport, are regulated by the Law «On Sports of the People's Republic of China». In China, state regulation plays a significant role in elite sport functioning and development, one of the main instruments of which is the state budget. The highest governing body for sports development in China is the General Administration in Sports Affairs, which is headed by the President of the NOC of China. At the state level, a set of measures aimed at effective elite sport functioning and development is being developed and implemented. It should be noted that centralized management with strict administration of sports development in China has made sport too regulated and unattractive in market conditions. Therefore, in 2014 the government formulated a plan to accelerate the development of the sports industry, stimulate sports engagement, increase the social significance of sport called “Measures to accelerate the development of the sports industry and promote sports engagement”. The program takes into account the implementation of a new state innovation strategy for elite sport development, which envisages investment in infrastructure, human resources, and research services in this area. According to this plan, the tax for large corporations that finance sport is reduced from 25 to 15%, whereas for the most active sponsors of sports – up to 3%. This plan has greatly contributed to the expansion of commercialization and professionalization of Chinese sport, attracting sponsors, especially for such sports events as football and basketball. The conducted study has revealed that the Chinese government is making serious efforts for the successful and dynamic development of elite sport in the country. State regulation in this field of sport is characterized, above all, by the presence of special legislation, a system of state bodies with powers, a mechanism of regulation and control. One of the most peculiar features of the modern Chinese system of elite sport is the transition from an extensive model of development to an innovative one.

The effectiveness of the centralized sport system in China has been demonstrated by the achievements of athletes in international competition and the extent of mass sports participation; however, the efficiency of the system has been questioned. A government survey determined that administrators within the system came from diverse backgrounds with little or no training in sport, physical education, or management techniques. This situation is being remedied through workshops for existing administrators and 4-year degree programs for future administrators. This study provides information regarding the different perspectives of sport administration in China, the structure of the workshops and degree programs, and efforts being made to ensure that an already effective system becomes more efficient. All data were obtained from prime source materials and from surveys conducted by one of the authors.

Abstract:
The author provides a perspective on South African sport, in terms of the existing perceptions, challenges, and constraints with which its managers are confronted. The unique needs of the disadvantaged communities with regard to sport management are discussed in relation to the Empowerment Model of Friedman (1992), and placed within the critical theoretical framework. The certified course in sports administration, being administered under the auspices of The University of the Western Cape (together with The University of Cape Town, National Sports Council Western Cape, and World Teach/Score), serves as a case study for this paper. It is argued that in order to address the immediate sporting needs of communities, and also to prepare them for future development, the training of community members as lay sports administrators is imperative. The role of sport and sport development in community development is explored, with special emphasis on the conditions in economically depressed communities. The importance of empowering communities to become more self-reliant in terms of sport management, was emphasized. Finally, an evaluation of the course was provided, and major shortcomings and future challenges are discussed.

Abstract:
Sport administrators, sport coaches and physical educators in schools are expected to be well grounded in their profession. They are expected to work within their limit and minimize occurrence of accidents and severity of injuries if not out rightly eliminate it in physical education and sport settings. More than any other subject in the school curriculum, physical education and sport programmes expose students to risky situations, which sometimes result in accidents and injuries. These may sometimes result in litigations against the physical education teacher or the school authority, and if found guilty, a teacher may pay heavy damages for his negligence and may also lose his job. School authority may also be found to be vicariously liable with the burden of payment of heavy compensation. This paper presents an exposition of legal issues in the administration of physical education and sports in Nigeria schools. While this paper is not attempting to make an attorney out of a physical educator or sport administrator, the paper adopted a theoretical approach to explaining the need to be conscious of what is legally expected of a professional physical educator or a sport coach because parents and students in Nigeria are becoming more legalistic nowadays. This paper explains the roles of professionals in the field of sports and physical education in preventing accidents and injuries, so as to reduce situations that can lead to litigation. The paper also tries to awaken the consciousness of the professionals on the defenses they can put up in case of any litigation emanating from the discharge of their duties and the expected standards of care, which a physical educator must demonstrate in a physical education lesson or during sport outing.

Abstract:
Introduction. Commitments adopted by the Verkhovna Rada and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine have little influence on the development of sport for all and Olympic sports for higher achievements. The post is devoted to the results of studying the content of legislative and regulatory acts governing the development of sports in Ukraine. The reason for the extremely unsatisfactory implementation of the adopted legislative and regulatory acts is in the unwillingness of public institutions to make major efforts to ensure the real growth of sports development indicators. Aim of the study is to identify the existing issues of public administration, which cause insufficient rates of improvement of the state of sport for all and Olympic sports of higher achievements, to prevent these problems in the future. Material and methods: literature analysis, analysis of documents, synthesis, abstraction. The research was conducted during april-august 2020. Results. The analysis shows that the adopted legislative and regulatory acts do not contribute to the development of the sphere. This is due to the fact that a large part of their content is marked by the declarative nature and lack of established standards which does not allow to control their implementation. Such a negative factor will affect the activities of the public administration which will be in charge of taking care of the development of the sport. Conclusion. The current state of governance in the field of sports is critical and is not conducive to making positive changes in this important humanitarian field. We will have to create more sophisticated legislative organization and financial tools for improvement of the state of sports.

This information would be a guideline for sports administrators' decision making in establishing investment policy. The Delphi technique (Dalkey, 1976) using 30 experts in mass sport administration and the Analytic Hierarchy Process method (Saaty, 1983) were used in this study. Six investment factors with 21 subfactors were derived. The top investment priority was given to the Sports Facilities factor, followed by the factors of Publicity, Leaders, Administrative Support, Voluntary Sports Clubs, and Programs. Investment priorities of subfactors in each factor were also discussed.

Abstract:
A problem exists with the lack of mandated health and safety training for youth sport coaches in the United States. Youth sport organizations rely heavily on volunteers to staff their programs, and lack of education leaves coaches unprepared to handle health and safety situations that arise. This study explored current practices in safety education for youth sport coaches in northwestern Pennsylvania. Youth sport coaches and administrators at three sites were interviewed. The results of the study showed an overall lack of consistency in health and safety education in the region. Youth sport coaches whose sport has a governing body or with additional coaching experiences had more health and safety education than those who did not. Administrators cited concerns that additional required training would deter volunteers from coaching, citing financial and management barriers. The coaches unanimously indicated additional education would not deter them from coaching. The participants viewed health and safety education as important and valuable for youth sport coaches to possess, as it increases the overall safety of youth sports. Woods (2016, p. 311) stated “For centuries, sports participated in assigning a limited role to women by excluding them from participation and resisting efforts to include them.” Women have had to struggle when it comes to sport leadership positions. Women are not usually found in higher level jobs in sport, but they tend to have positions in lower management or lower profile positions. This study is a compilation of research into how people within collegiate athletics in the United States feel about women’s employment status in the field. A pilot interview was created and administered to three women: an athletic director, an athlete, and a professor at Florida A &M University. A surveywas created and administered to 30 subjects that have careers in sport leadership positions. The questions were divided into five categories consisting of representation, coaching, equal pay, and team sports. The survey showed that there are mixed feelings in the profession. Two-thirds of the subjects thought that there was a lack of female leadership within team sports. A little over half of the subjects thought that men were more successful in the areas of leadership, coaching, equal pay, representation, and team sports. By identifying the issues that women are facing when heading into this profession, the researchers identified what actions need to take place in order to resolve the problems discovered. In turn, this would create more opportunities and more qualified female candidates for positions in sports administration and team sports leadership in the United States.

Abstract:
European, national and local public policies have a crucial role when it comes to social and economic development. Based on European and national frameworks, local public administration develops and implements local public policies based on the community needs in order to reach a high level of local development. Among other sectors, sport plays a major role in the local development. Our paper aims to outline the role of local public authorities from Oradea, Romania, in supporting high-performance sport at a local level through local public policies. In Oradea a high-performance sport is represented by the Municipal Sports Club; therefore, our analysis focuses on the impact of local public policies on the sports activity of the club. The study methodology is mixed, based on document analysis and individual interviews. Research results show a clear link between the decision of local public authorities to get involved in local sports activity and the achievement of outstanding results by local sports teams. Consistent financial support, high quality sports infrastructure, transparent public-private partnerships, as well as strong partnerships between various local public authorities are the keys to developing performance sport.

Abstract:
ObjectivesGlucocorticoids are commonly prescribed in medicine. When administered via certain routes, glucocorticoids are prohibited for incompetition use by WADA. The glucocorticoid prescribing habits of sports medicine doctors have not been reported.MethodsAn online survey was distributed internationally to physicians working in high-performance sports. The survey queried the doctors about their use of glucocorticoids with athletes and their understanding of WADA’s regulations regarding glucocorticoid use in competition.Results603 sports medicine doctors from 30 different countries participated. The majority (>85%) routinely injected glucocorticoids and/or prescribed glucocorticoids by other routes. There were substantial differences in the common routes of injection as well as types of glucocorticoid used among the physicians from various countries. A relatively small percentage of sports doctors (<25%) accurately identified which routes of glucocorticoid administration are prohibited in competition by WADA. There was a great variation in how long before competition the use of glucocorticoids would cause the doctor to consider applying for a therapeutic use exemption (TUE). A better understanding of the clearance rates of glucocorticoids from athletes’ bodies would greatly aid sports medicine doctors’ decisions on how and when to apply for a TUE. A small number of doctors had observed side effects of glucocorticoid administration, with the majority of side effects being minor in nature.ConclusionGlucocorticoids are widely prescribed by sports physicians. There is a need to better educate sports physicians on the current WADA regulations in relation to glucocorticoid administration.

Abstract:
One of the results of the work of subjects of physical culture and sport in the athletes’ preparation is the criterion of evaluation for implementation of certain ranks requirements. According to the section of sports ranks at three levels: mass ranks, reserve, sports ranks, it is necessary to plan the analysis of the state of work on them. This can be done within individual regions. Purpose: to establish indicators of implementation standards of the candidate for Master of Sport and the first rank by athletes in game sports in the Ivano- Frankivsk region during 2018-2021. Methods: theoretical analysis and generalization of data of scientific and methodical literature, analysis of documentary materials, methods of mathematical statistics. The content of the orders "On the assignment of sports ranks" of the Sport Department of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional State Administration for the period 2018-2021 (in total 31 documents) was studied. Results. Reserve sports are mostly characterized by sport ranks of the candidate for Master of Sport and the first rank. During 2018−2021, there is a significant variability in the number of athletes in game sports who met the requirements of sports ranks of the candidate for Master of Sport and the first rank. Higher values are inherent for 2018 and 2020 (126 and 169 people) and much less for 2019 and 2021 (43 and 59 people). The shares of representatives of game sports had significant differences over the years and ranged from 27.92 to 52.65% of the total number of those who met the requirements of sport ranks of the candidate for Master of Sport and the first rank. In the structure of game sports athletes who met the requirements of the sport ranks of the candidate for Master of Sport and the first rank during 2018-2021, the largest share is occupied by football (44%). The second position is occupied by rugby representatives (17%). Then a group of sports with approximately the same contribution of 9-10% (basketball, table tennis, volleyball, futsal). Conclusions. According to the indicators of the requirements for the awarding of sport ranks of the candidate for Master of Sport and the first rank in Ivano-Frankivsk region revealed the existence of a prominent leader among the sports – football and a certain core, which includes five other sports (basketball, table tennis, volleyball, futsal, rugby).

Abstract:
Corticosteroids act as potent anti-inflammatory drugs and have been used in various sport settings for the treatment of both acute and chronic injuries. Basic physiology and mechanisms of action for gluco- and mineralocorticoids are discussed. Methods of administration, the action on the inflammatory response, and potential short and long-term side effects of corticosteroid use are also deliberated. More specifically, corticosteroid use in the treatment and management of sport-related injuries are discussed, elucidating on the ethical boundaries and anti-doping regulations pertaining to corticosteroid use in sports, as well as putting forth suggestions for the use of local steroid injections and their contraindications. In conclusion, it was found that, despite some controversy in the use of corticosteroid treatment in the sports environment, little empirical evidence exists that could conclusively rule for or against its use. It is however clear that, if clinically justified, there is a significant role for corticosteroid treatment in the realm of sports injury and notably with a relatively low risk profile, if administered correctly.

Abstract:
Abstract Background: Blood sampling is not a common practice for sports drug testing. Our aim was to investigate whether dried blood spots on filter paper could be an alternative to plasma samples for monitoring steroid profiles in dope testing. Methods: We collected dried blood spots and plasma from six healthy Caucasian subjects after an oral 120-mg dose of testosterone undecanoate (TU). Nonconjugated testosterone, testosterone glucuronide (TG), androsterone glucuronide (AG), and etiocholanolone glucuronide (EtG) were measured by gas chromatography–mass spectrometry in both matrices. 17α-Hydroxyprogesterone (17αOHP) and luteinizing hormone (LH) also were measured in the plasma samples. For comparison, similar measurements were done on samples obtained from the same subjects given 25 mg of testosterone propionate (TP) plus 110 mg of testosterone enanthate (TE) intramuscularly after a wash-out period. Results: After oral TU intake, TG, AG, and EtG increased sharply, whereas nonconjugated testosterone did not change significantly. Results on dried blood spots correlated well with those on plasma. The TG/testosterone ratio in blood or plasma was verified to be a sensitive and specific marker (significantly increased for up to 8 h after intake; P <0.05) for oral TU intake but not for intramuscular administration of TP plus TE. Little suppression of plasma LH and 17αOHP was observed after a single oral dose of TU. One subject did not show a significant increase of blood TG after oral TU intake. Conclusions: The measurement of glucuronide conjugates in blood and plasma samples is relevant for sports drug testing when analyzing the steroid profile. Dried blood spots collected on filter paper are a suitable alternative to plasma for detecting testosterone abuse.

Abstract:
Men generally have an inherent performance advantage over women due to their average greater height and muscle mass and power, as the result of correspondingly different exposures to androgens. Therefore, it is considered fair that in sports men and women compete in separate categories. The question now emerging is whether reassigned transsexuals can compete in fairness with others of their new sex. The pertinent question is how far the previous effects of testosterone in male-to-female transsexuals (M-F) are reversible upon androgen deprivation so that M-F have no advantage over women, and, vice versa, what the effects are of androgen exposure in female-to-male transsexuals (F-M) on variables relevant to competition in sports. Before puberty, boys and girls do not differ in height, muscle and bone mass. Recent information shows convincingly that actual levels of circulating testosterone determine largely muscle mass and strength, though with considerable interindividual diversity. This study analyzed the effects of androgen deprivation in 19 M-F and of androgen administration to 17 F-M on muscle mass, hemoglobin (Hb) and insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1). Before cross-sex hormone administration, there was a considerable overlap in muscle mass between M-F and F-M. In both M-F and F-M, height was a strong predictor of muscle mass. Androgen deprivation of M-F decreased muscle mass, increasing the overlap with untreated F-M, but mean muscle mass remained significantly higher in M-F than in F-M. Androgen administration to F-M increased muscle mass without inducing an advantage over nontreated M-F. The conclusion is that androgen deprivation in M-F increases the overlap in muscle mass with women but does not reverse it, statistically. The question of whether reassigned M-F can fairly compete with women depends on what degree of arbitrariness one wishes to accept, keeping in mind, for instance, that similar blood testosterone levels in men have profoundly different biologic effects on muscle properties, rendering competition in sports intrinsically a matter of how nature endows individuals for this competition.

Abstract:
Learning outcomes The learning outcomes are to sensitise with the cause of sport development in India; to familiarize with the concepts of SDGs and sport development continuum in context of the Tata Trusts work in sports (Sports Portfolio); to relate strategy concepts of resources, SWOT analysis, cooperative implications, Carroll's CSR pyramid and Porter-Kramer strategic corporate social performance and shared value framework of inside-out and outside-in linkages with the Sports Portfolio strategy at the Tata Trusts; and to link sport development concepts like sport and development, sports development continuum and capacity building with the Sports Portfolio work at the Tata Trusts. Case overview/synopsis The case explores the sport and development issues faced by Ms Neelam Babardesai, Head of Sports Portfolio, Tata Trusts in Mumbai, India. The Trusts had a long history of contributing to the development of sport in India and looked forward to aligning their work in the sport with the United Nations (UN) sustainable development goals (SDGs). They started Sports Portfolio in 2016–2017 intending to complement their work in education and generate positive socio-economic change at the grassroots (local community) level in India. They also had the resources to implement the programmes. However, they were faced with issues like the deficiency of physical literacy in schools resulting in the disinterest of children and parents in sport and physical activity, which also might lead to health issues, later in life, minimal cooperation between entities involved with sport and development, lack of structured sports programmes and skilled human resources and the national sports policy needing better details and implementation and follow-up plans in India. Their strategic response was based on the use of a “sports development pyramid”, capacity building, alignment with the SDGs and complementary partnerships and collaborations. What were the outcomes? Should they continue with the same strategic approach? What should be their future course of action for sport and development? How should they respond to the COVID-19 crisis? Ms Babardesai reflected upon the above questions while concluding that India needed a long-term strategy for the development of sport. Complexity Academic Level The case is intended to be taught in the class of strategic management for postgraduate or master's level participants of business administration for concepts like resources, SWOT analysis, cooperative implications, corporate social responsibility (CSR), shared value and introducing the concept of the UN SDGs (SDGs), capacity building and sports development continuum (sports development domain) in context of the Indian sports scenario. The case should be equally useful in teaching relevant courses related to sports management and development. It may also be used for courses related to development studies and sustainability at the master’s level. The case may also be used by practitioners and researchers associated with sport and development/sports development and SDGs. Supplementary materials Teaching Notes are available for educators only. ObjectiveTo analyse the financial costs from sports injuries among inpatients and emergency department (ED) patients aged 5–18 with a focus on Medicaid patients.MethodsFixed-effects linear regression was used to assess the association of patient factors with cost of injury from sports. Florida Agency for Health Care Administration data from 2010 to 2014 were used, which included all inpatient and ED patients aged 5–18 years who had a sports injury.ResultsOver 5 years, sports injuries in Florida youth cost $24 million for inpatient care and $87 million for ED care. Youth averaged $6039 for an inpatient visit and $439 for an ED visit in costs from sports injuries. Sports injuries for Medicaid-insured youth cost $10.8 million for inpatient visits and $44.2 million for ED visits.ConclusionOlder athletes and males consistently have higher healthcare costs from sports. Baseball, basketball, bike riding, American football, roller-skating/skateboarding and soccer are sports with high costs for both ED patients and inpatients and would benefit from prevention programmes. Injuries from non-contact sport participants are few but can have high costs. These athletes could benefit from prevention programmes as well.

Abstract:
The study illustrates the complexity of the issue of football hooliganism, and highlights the innovative solutions for the treatment of it. The background of football hooliganism by presenting domestic and foreign examples, the types of supporters and spectators, and the role of private security and sports policing are observed. In the decades following the regime change, the police lost their monopoly, and private security and civil policing became more prominent in Hungary. Nowadays, the personnel of private security and civil policing are involved in the process of risk assessment of sports events, escorting and transporting groups of supporters, detaining supporters after sports events. It is important to mention sports policing, a specific part of sports administration. This narrow field can be clearly defined as specialised policing, with a set of laws regulating everything related to sports policing, complemented by the regulations of the sports federations, which also serve as guidelines for the maintenance of sports law enforcement records and the security provided at sports events. Football hooliganism is a social and sport security problem that has been present in our world for centuries, and is something that we will probably have to deal with as long as football exists. Football hooligans are a closed community, a subculture with a specific set of rules and a deep knowledge of their functioning is essential to maintain the safety of our sport events. Nowadays, the emphasis is more on understanding the processes, communication and cooperation, as well as openness to innovative solutions.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to analyse the influence of the environment on the financial performance in public sports agencies at the local level. Design/methodology/approach The influence of the socio-demographic, socio-economic and political environment on the financial condition of municipal sports agencies in Spain from 2003 to 2011 was studied by several regression models. Findings The results show a negative influence of the size of the population and a positive influence of the municipal taxes per capita. The influence of the political context is not demonstrated. However, the set of variables only explain a small percentage of the variance. Research limitations/implications The main limitation of this study is the possible existence of other non-controlled environmental variables. However, this study approaches genuinely the effect of the environment on municipal sports agencies, which has important research implications as it shows additional information to be contrasted with other researches in different countries or regions. Practical implications The information provided in this study will be of great importance for managers to select more objectively other entities in benchmarking development. Originality/value Finally, this study uses a non-exploited database and redirects performance management studies to other areas of service provision such as sport.

Abstract:
The changes in the socio-economic system of Ukraine requires a scientific discussion of the established management mechanisms for the development of game sports in the regions. The study of the problem field according to the chosen subject of research made it possible to single out relatively independent directions of research. The first is related to the development of physical culture and sport in the regions, the second – to the development of individual sports or a group of game sports in general. The purpose: to find out the changes in the structure of the planned events in game sports in the Ivano-Frankivsk region during 2020−2022. Methods: theoretical analysis and generalization of data from scientific and methodical literature, analysis of documentary materials, methods of mathematical statistics. The content of the orders of the Sport Department of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional State Administration on the "Unified calendar plan for sport competitions and training meetings of the region for Olympic sports" for 2020−2022 was studied. The results. Ping-Pong (23.1% − 2020 and 21.1% − 2021) and football (20.8% − 2020 and 21.1% of the total number of events from game sports, respectively, in 2021) among the total number of events from game sports have the largest shares by separate years. In 2022, there is one leader in the number of planned events among game sports − Ping-Pong (23.9% of the total number of events from game sports). During 2020−2022, tennis and rugby, which occupy the third and fourth places in the ranking, retain the leading positions in terms of shares of events among game sports. Conclusions. We received new data in view of the new socio-economic conditions of activity of physical culture and sports subjects, which indicate the dynamics of absolute and relative indicators of activities for the development of game sports at the regional level, in particular in the Ivano- Frankivsk region.

Abstract:
Collegiate athletic programs are increasingly adding nutrition services to interdisciplinary sports medicine and sports performance departments in response to scientific evidence highlighting nutrition's integral role in supporting athletic performance and overall health. Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDNs) specializing in sports dietetics (ie, sports RDNs) and credentialed Board-certified Specialists in Sports Dietetics (CSSDs) are the preferred nutrition service providers for these programs. Their extensive training and proficiency in medical nutrition therapy, education and behavioral counseling, food-service management, exercise physiology, physical performance, and administration, as defined by the “Standards of Practice and “Standards of Professional Performance” for Registered Dietitian Nutritionists in Sports Nutrition and Human Performance,” make these practitioners uniquely qualified to deliver the breadth of care required in the collegiate setting. Therefore, this document, guided by a multidisciplinary panel, introduces 4 sports nutrition models through which any collegiate athletic program can deliver sports RDN-directed nutrition services. In each model, the most effective staffing and scope of service are indicated and reviewed. In addition, recommended organizational structures for sports RDNs are provided that best support the delivery of the model's nutrition services in a variety of collegiate athletic programs and organizational settings. Lastly, future research initiatives and nutrition interventions to help improve the standard of care through these sport nutrition models are explored.

Learning outcomes To understand: – the demand and supply side challenges in launching a new product in sports. – Factors, which go into the making of a successful “new” sport. – The role of planning in sport management. Case overview/synopsis In July 2017, on the eve of Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) Season 5, kabaddi had emerged as one of India’s most important non-cricketing sport. PKL was India’s first men’s professional kabaddi league, introduced by Mashal Sports and Star India in 2014. Kabaddi was an indigenous sport, and India had an unbeaten international track record as world champions. Yet, the sport and its players had never received their due in India. In 2017, while kabaddi’s popularity had increased, leading to sponsorship opportunities, huge player bids, prize money and television viewership, all was not quite hunky-dory. A women’s kabaddi league introduced only the previous year had not been continued, despite an extended format in 2017. The audience profile also did not match that envisaged by Star. As a unique creator of sports content, Star was in an enviable position in India; and so was Kabaddi as a sport. How had Star created a new property around an indigenous sport with rural and rustic associations, transforming it into a snazzy, up-market sport within just three years, even while leagues involving other popular sports failed to create a mark? Could Star sustain this interest? How could kabaddi retain its “star” position within Star’s stable? Abstract:
Although local governments attempt to promote sports among all layers of society, people with a lower socio-economic status are still under-represented in grassroots sports. Previous studies indicate that inter-sectoral networks and joint efforts can contribute to an increase in sport participation among these groups, but a systematic analysis of the structure, coordination and interactions in the networks is still missing. Insight into networks to promote sport for disadvantaged people may help in designing effective networks. Therefore, we conducted a social network analysis to explore the network structure and characteristics of networks that promote sport participation among disadvantaged people in three Flemish cities. Our results show that the networks needed to be coordinated by a sport administrator, in the initial stage. Once the network is up and running, coordination can be shared so that the sport administration can rely on the experiences of other sectors. More sport initiatives and a better network structure were found in the cities with a community sport development program, through which the sport-for-all policy is implemented and coordinated, compared to a city without such a program.

Abstract:
The existence of a wide range of subjects of public administration in the field of physical culture and sports, and this is shown by the example of the Kolos society, requires proper functional support of their activities, as the corresponding specific role of the bearer of service powers. The article reveals the need to apply international standards of the ISO 9000 series to the management of the development of the sphere of physical culture and sports in Ukraine, the use of standards by voluntary physical culture and sports societies according to the "center - regions - society" scheme. This is possible by ensuring the interaction of public administration entities, which include state and local authorities, while observing the standards of management activities and providing physical culture and sports services. It is the ISO 9001: 2015 standard that should be considered the backbone that should be applied to the development of a modern public administration quality management system in accordance with the high expectations of consumers of physical culture and sports services.

Abstract:
The United Kingdom-South Africa Sports Initiative was launched in 1994 to contribute to a sustainable and equitable sports development system in South Africa. The initiative was implemented in two phases. Phase I entailed planning and developing a national sports administration curriculum. In Phase II, planning was finalized and resources were provided for the development of a sports delivery system, and the program was monitored to identify (a) problems, constraints, and challenges; (b) solutions; and (c) an implementation plan. Coordinators (n= 5), lead facilitators (n= 2), facilitators (n= 10), and sports leaders (n= 9) were interviewed, and statistics were compiled on their race and gender. The conclusion of Phase II entailed monitoring different aspects of the sports leaders' course. The main trends identified through that process include the context, aims and objectives, style of presentation, and content of courses at different levels. Perceptions about ownership, management, and the possible impact of the initiative are discussed.
