Abstract:
This research questions the organization, the professionalisation and the culture of a sporting practice emerging in France during the '70s: the Bicycle Moto Cross - BMX. A double prospect is adopted: a strategie analysis and a sensitive approaeh - respectively examining the "dynamics of the outside' and the "dynamics of the inside". The ernpirieal issue, resulting trom a fieldwork and semi-structured interviews, made it possible: On the one hand, to understand how the professionalisation dynamic of the BMX experts was thwarted by the singular "personality" of the BMX, whic is structured around a centraI value: autonomy. BMX System fought against the strategy of recovery operated by the International Union Cyclist to monopolize the control and the management of this new sporting practice and of its derivatives. However this resistance at the international and natiom level did not make it possible to avoid integration within last entity. Ln addition, to seize in a conerete and sensitive way the conditions of professionalisation of the BMX experts through static fiction, attached to its nappl de sens (layer offeel). From this ethnography, the "traits ofpersonality" ofBMX culture are released: the feelings ofprecariousness, stigmatization and segregation animate the BMX experts, composed oftwo tendencies: the BMX and Freestyle. Although sharing a common history, divergences exist on the finalities level of eaeh practice and their ways of action; attitude developed with respect to the organization within the French Cycling Federation and of the professionalisation

Lawrence, Hugh David Vincent. "Government Involvement in New Zealand Sport - Sport Policy: a Cautionary Tale." The University of Waikato, 2008. http://hdl.handle.net/10289/2351.

Full text
Abstract:
Government involvement in New Zealand sport spans over 70 years from provisions of the Physical Welfare Act in 1937 to current provisions of the Sport and Recreation Act 2002. Thousands of volunteers in non-profit organisations continue to underpin New Zealand's sport system. It is axiomatic that sport defines part of what it means to be a New Zealander. Governments frequently use the rhetoric of community cohesion, national pride, life skills and public health benefits to justify its involvement. This thesis examines the impact of government intervention on the sport sector, its funding paradigms and the extent of sector engagement in a policy for sport. Through an examination of available government and sport sector records, and the author's own experience as a participant in events, the thesis recounts a sequence of five milestones for the New Zealand sport system and views them through a public management system lens. The passing of the Physical Welfare and Recreation Act in 1937, the establishment of a Ministry and Council for Recreation and Sport in 1973, the ministerial Sports Development Inquiry in 1984, the Prime Minister's Review of High Performance Sport in 1995 and the Sport, Fitness and Leisure Ministerial Taskforce. Government funding of sport now stands at around $100 million annually from small beginnings of $3,295 in 1945/1946, despite the absence of a comprehensive national policy for sport. By examining the chronology through a wider state sector lens, the thesis opens a window to the practical effect of public policy processes on matters of importance to the New Zealand sport sector and its voluntary sector foundations. This thesis also provides a rationale for revitalising the engagement between government and the New Zealand sport sector to meet the expectations of a modern state sector to meaningfully engage citizens and the non-government sector in the formation of policy and planning its implementation.

Hashem, Dawood. "Understanding change in disability sport in the UAE." Thesis, Brunel University, 2014. http://bura.brunel.ac.uk/handle/2438/9209.

Full text
Abstract:
Despite an ever growing body of research on disability sport very little is known about its organisational dimension and the role disability sport organisations play in promoting sport and how they change and adapt to their environment. This is a critical omission and the main aim of this thesis is to fill this gap in our knowledge. More specifically, the study addresses change in disability sport organisation in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), which has different culture, religion, language, and laws as compared to the Western world .The main question addressed by the thesis is what factors, processes, and mechanisms are responsible for organisational change in disability sport in the UAE? Using a contextualist approach to organisational change (Pettigrew, 1985), the study is concerned with understanding long-term processes in their context. Three in-depth case studies with disability sport organisations were conducted covering a period from 1992 to 2012. The study reveals that Islam regards disability as a social issue whereby a Muslim society has the responsibility for individuals with disability as opposed to the medical or functional models, which place the emphasis on rehabilitation, functionality and personal responsibility. This interpretation of disability in Islam has shaped organisational visions and structures concerned with providing socializing opportunities and not with long-term strategies and performance targets. Change in the UAE disability sport organisations was episodic and reflected periods of divergence between the internal structure of these organisations and the environmental demands to be more receptive to political expectations and those of people with disability. Change was triggered by specific events which were responsible for shaping organisational structures, processes and strategies. The mode of change alternated between first-order changes, such as those prescribed by law and Governmental interventions, and second-order changes or those resulting from changes in cognitive frameworks held by various organisational members. Change was concerned with transforming the three organisations from places to socialise to professional bodies with rules and enhanced performances. An important finding with conceptual and practical implications is about the role of national culture (i.e., Arab) and religion (i.e. Islam) in shaping change in disability sport organisations in the UAE, where a significant distinction between religion and culture is established. The study identifies several theoretical and policy implications.

Full text
Abstract:
The main aim of this study is to explore and determine the effect of an organisation team sport intervention on a number of diversity constraints in two financial organisations. The diversity constraints relevant in this study are race, ethnicity, generation gaps, gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, age, physical abilities, religious beliefs, political beliefs, parental status, education and income. The main aim is to determine whether organisation team sport interventions impacted on the participating employees’ relationships, trust and respect towards one another, despite their differences in culture, age, gender and religion. The study was conducted among 26 employees of the two financial organisations that participate in organisation team sport. The data were collected by means of focus group interviews and individual interviews. The results indicated that a strong bond is established between employees in the organisation during organisation team sport. Employees are encouraged to share information, which leads to increased productivity. Business relationships can be created whilst talking sport, attending sport events or playing sport. The conclusions was made that organisation team sport is therefore a vehicle for creating opportunities to share goals and visions, improving individual commitment, improving cohesion, increasing trust and respect in a workforce, improving communication between employees and enhancing employees’ knowledge of other employees. The contributions that organisation team sport makes to an organisation are all requirements for effective diversity management in the workplace. Copyright 2010, University of Pretoria. Abstract:

The thesis analyses the amateur game of rugby union by focussing upon the struggles for control between national and local unions and players. Using historical material and interviews with administrators, current players in the New Zealand national team, the All Blacks, and Canterbury, a local provincial union, I show how the game of rugby union consolidated as the national game. I follow these actors through the shift to a global professional game sponsored by television networks and show how the local advantages in the New Zealand game come to be reconfigured in this context.

Abstract:

Hong, Hee Jung. "A psycho-educational curriculum for sport career transition practitioners : development and evaluation." Thesis, University of Stirling, 2016. http://hdl.handle.net/1893/25589.

Full text
Abstract:
The aim of this thesis is to extend sport career transition knowledge by developing and evaluating a psycho-educational curriculum for sport career transition practitioners. Study 1 provides an extensive overview of organisational intervention programmes for sport career transition, as well as of training and development programmes for sport career transition practitioners from 19 countries worldwide. The purpose of Study 1 was to examine the following five features of sport career transition organisational intervention programmes and training and development programmes for sport career transition practitioners: 1) At the government level, which organisation is responsible for the delivery of sport career transition organisational intervention programmes? 2) What is the typical strategy of sport career transition organisational intervention programmes? 3) Which activities and events are included in sport career transition organisational intervention programmes? 4) Who is responsible for the delivery of sport career transition organisational intervention programmes? and 5) Do sporting organisations have training and development programmes for sport career transition practitioners? Findings from Study 1 were used to inform Study 2 and to supplement the literature review. According to the literature, training and development programmes for sport career transition practitioners remain scarce, while the number of sport career transition organisational intervention programmes is gradually increasing. The purpose of Study 2 was to develop and evaluate a novel psycho-educational curriculum for sport career transition practitioners. There were three stages of development and evaluation: (1) content development, (2) curriculum design and (3) curriculum evaluation. To achieve the goal of Study 2, a focus group and a two-round Delphi method were implemented. The final version of the psycho-educational curriculum is presented in Chapter 5. The purpose of Study 3 was to test a key aspect of the psycho-educational curriculum developed in Study 2 concerning 38 competences of sport career transition practitioners. A curriculum package consisting in the key parts from the overall curriculum was developed for Study 3. The findings revealed that the curriculum package positively affected the confidence of the study participants in 38 competences concerning sport career transition. This demonstrates that the curriculum is effective for the development of sport career transition practitioners, as the study participants exhibited greater confidence on all four factorsDual Career Transition Management, Skill Transfer, Social Support, and Career Planningwhen completing the curriculum package. The discussion in Chapter 7 focuses on both the theoretical and practical implications of the research, limitations and future research directions. In conclusion, the findings presented here deepen the knowledge of sport career transition in the areas of organisational intervention programmes for high performance athletes and training and development programmes for sport career transition practitioners. In addition, a novel psycho-educational curriculum for sport career transition practitioners is developed and evaluated.

Full text
Abstract:
This research explores the determinants of inter-partner learning in alliances. The potential for organisations to learn from their alliance partner is well recognised in the literature. The Knowledge Based View of the Firm (KBV) posits that an organisation’s knowledge base, especially its tacit knowledge base, is a source of sustainable competitive advantage. Three key determinants of inter-partner learning are: intent to learn, transparency (i.e. willingness to share knowledge) and receptivity (i.e. capacity to learn). These three concepts are used to guide a single case study of an alliance between a National Sport Organisation (NSO) and a Professional Sport Franchise (PSF). Data was obtained through semi-structured interviews with key informants at both organisations. Each individual transcript was colour coded in relation to each of the four research questions. All relevant quotes were then copied into separate files for each organisation and categorised by research question. The results of the study suggest that 1) despite historical conflict, the relationship between alliance partners is becoming increasingly positive; 2) intent to learn was low in both organisations but higher in the NSO; 3) the NSO was more transparent than the PSF; and 4) receptivity was low for both organisations. Key conclusions of the research are that the NSO and PSF are failing to take full advantage of the opportunities presented by their relationship, but intent, transparency and receptivity remain useful concepts to explore inter-partner learning.

Abstract:
The rationale of the study is to broaden the knowledge on the contemporary sport spectator’s relationships with sports teams and sport governing bodies. By including the spectator, the team, and the governing body in a holistic Fan-Relationship- Management-Model, this study gives insights in the formation of loyalty within the spectator-team-governing body-triad. A structural equation modelling approach is used to test, refine and validate the model among samples of four hundred fifty-five and five hundred five football spectators from France and Germany. Further, a latent profile analysis is implemented to uncover spectator profiles based on a two- dimensional loyalty conceptualisation. Additional latent profile analyses with covariates from the model, allow identifying variables that facilitate profile belongingness. The final model revealed major country-specific differences in the relationships within the spectator-team-governing body-triad. In both samples we found non-loyal, latent loyal, and loyal spectators. For France, however, satisfaction and trust do not contribute to loyalty; a notable contradiction to the established marketing literature. This study is useful to appreciate a sport governing body’s role in the spectator-team relationship. Also, it offers new perspectives on spectator profiles and encourages the implementation of a credibility variable when investigating relationship management in sports. Overall, the study’s holistic approach in analysing relationships and loyalty is unique in the sport marketing literature

The thesis deals with the accounting and tax legislation with focus on professional sport not only from the perspective of sport clubs but also of individual sportsmen. The aim of the thesis is to identify accounting and tax specificities of professional sport, including the definition of differences in keeping accounts of non-profit organisations and business entities, and to analyse the current state of the income taxation of professional sportsmen in selected countries of the EU and in the Czech Republic. Significant differences were found not only in the keeping accounts of non-profit organisations and business entities but also in the area of the income taxation of professional sportsmen. In the Czech Republic professional sportsmen are considered to be an independent profession while in the other selected countries of the European Union they are classic employees. The thesis is based on legislation valid on 1st January 2016.

Abstract:
Sport consumption is more than just the team/athlete itself. Fan engagement is a part of the consumption, for example through people that are attending competitions and games to support their team/athlete. Fan engagement comes with both positive and negative effects, as well as bringing different kinds of profits to both the sport organisation and the individual fan. The aim of the study was to examine motivational factors for sport fans to see which factors contribute most to their engagement. After analysing previous studies on the subject, we created our own model using a few selected motivational factors. To measure the motivators, we created an online self-questionnaire survey. Through a snowballing sample we collected answers from fans of multiple sport organisations in Sweden. As a result we received 287responses that later was analysed through a regression analysis. The results showed that Self identity was the key motivator to why sport fans decides to engage with a team/athlete. The differences between physical engagement and social media engagement was measured as well. The results showed that Social community was proven to be a higher motivator on social media engagement rather than in physical engagement. Furthermore, the differences in engagement between men and women were measured, since studies on this subject was lacking in previous research. The results showed little difference between the two and that they are driven by the same motivators. The only possible conclusion regarding differences between the genders was that men, in general, consider themself more engaged in sports than women do.

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:
Historically, sports in Sweden have been practiced either according to an amateur ideal for the purpose of combating ill-health or and in accordance with the athletes own sports interest. Since its establishment, sport has followed social development and adapted accordingly. When the amateur rule was removed in 1967, the sport underwent a change towards professionalization. It is primarily sports organizations that compete at the highest level and with a focus on team sports that have embraced this professionalization. The professionalization meant that employees in sports organizations were paid a salary and that the athletes could make money from their sports. Development in sport has since continued in line with society and commercialization has become a phenomenon as well as a lasting element that has taken over parts of the power in the sports world. This has created different cultural values in sports.  We now talk about non-profit -, professional - and commercial sports. This study investigates whether these values can work together within an elite organization and what tensions may arise between them. The study is a qualitative case study in which three semi-structured interviews have been conducted. The analysis was based on Schein's organizational culture model, which focuses on the levels of artifacts, espoused beliefs and values and basic underlying assumptions. The result showed that organizational culture is shaped and integrated by the different cultural values.

Full text
Abstract:
In spite of the fundamental importance for the GDR-sport and in spite of the powerful “Trägerbetriebe” ”Staatssicherheit”, “Volkspolizei”, “Ministerium des Innern” and “Amt für Zoll und Kontrolle des Warenverkehrs”, the sports organisation Dynamo is not explored very well. There are research results about some special subjects, but scientifically basics in terms of a general history of development do not exist. This study examines the undocumented first years of the powerful, aggressive and dominant organisation. It sheds the light on the origin, development and establishment in the 1950s by evaluating contemporary documents. Very much emphasis is on structural questions: how could the sports organisation Dynamo establish itself? Why could it achieve such an exceptional position? And how could Dynamo implement its own interests, although the sports system in the GDR was controlled by the SED-leadership? The documents show, that the sports organisation Dynamo was found in July 1952 by the “Staatssicherheit”. They also prove a following occupation of the “Sportvereinigung Deutsche Volkspolizei” by Dynamo in March 1953. This take-over violated the orders of the “Staatliches Komitee für Körperkultur und Sport” and is spuriously known as the foundation of the sports organisation Dynamo. From its foundation Dynamo was gifted with an especial organisational structure, an elitist self-image and powerful “Trägerbetriebe” to get into a privileged and exceptional position. This development was abetted by an aspiring leadership and the political interests of the “Politbüro”. The study shows, that Dynamo developed a strong endeavour for hegemony, and it proves a constant, partly conspiratorial control of the majority “Volkspolizei” by the minority “Staatssicherheit”.

Abstract:
This thesis aimed to extend knowledge of athletes’ career transitions through examining athletes’ retirement decision-making process and influence of cultural diversity and organisational culture on the process of career transition. The purpose of Study 1 was to identify the current status of knowledge in the study area through providing a systematic review of the athlete career transition studies. The findings provided up to date knowledge in the study area and suggested potential future research directions. Study 2 aimed to understand Korean tennis players’ career transition out of sport experiences via longitudinal qualitative research. The results indicated that athletes perceived making the retirement decision was difficult process for them and revealed that participants’ experiences were influenced by cultural aspects and sport contexts of Korea. Study 3 focused on exploring the athletes’ retirement decision-making process among Korean tennis players. Results showed that athletes’ leaving from sport decision-making is a complex and multidimensional process, and the transtheoretical model was helpful in explaining athletes’ retirement from sport decision-making. The objective of Study 4 was to explore the processes involved in the development of an athletes’ career transition programme. Results revealed that the organisation might have influence on athletes’ retirement decision and the quality of career transition. Overall, the findings from the current thesis provide advanced useful knowledge on the athlete career transition process, and such knowledge may assist attempts to enhance athletes’ well-being and welfare for during and post-sport life.

Abstract:

Abstract:
End of signal has just passed. The team you work for has just won the championship, and you as sport director hailed as a hero based on your ability to build a successful team. The season after looks differently, you are painted as guilt and the association begins to lose patience. The pressure of external stakeholders grows and it ends with the association choosing to fire you. Another scenario is the feelings that the excessive workload will be your failure, which will let you resign from your service as sports director. Being a sports director in a performance-based world places high demands on you as an individual, both holding knowledge about Ice hockey, but also to handle for example economic and legal issues. Almost half of all sports directors have become unemployed or stopped themselves in recent seasons. It becomes clear that the role and the requirement image become complex. That reason makes it interesting to explain this problem. The study has been conducted by making qualitative interviews with the selection of sports directors in SHL and Hockeyallsvenskan in Swedish elite Hockey. SHL (Swedish Hockey League) is the highest league and Hockeyallsvenskan is the second highest league in Swedish Elite Hockey. The purpose of this study has been the sports leaders’ explanation for the high turnover in SHL and Hockeyallsvenskan in Swedish elite Hockey. The purpose of this study has developed two issues that will form the basis of the study: 1. What are the factors behind the high turnover of the sports directors? 2. Is the responsibility of the associations or the sports directors for the high turnover? The result of this study shows that there are combinations of different factors that are behind the high turnover of sports directors in Swedish Elite Hockey. One factor is the diffuse requirement picture from the association on what is expected of the sports director. The sports director’s role in the organization is not clear enough. This leads to a collision in which the associations have not identified the skills required in the role. Furthermore, there is a lack of continuity and long term relationships with the associations where confidence in the sports director immediately reduces in the event of non-sporting results. The result also shows that the impact of external factors, combined with excessive workload, leads to terminations in the profession. Finally, it may be noted that the role of sports director requires good competence in matters that are included in the role of a chief. The lack of competencies within the management leads to difficulties for the sports director to handle the issues that include tough decisions.

Abstract:

Abstract:
The ambition that leads this thesis is as original as fascinating: analyzing the roleof the social organization of the Gabonese sport in the context of a developing country, themode of expression of the local people in the colonial period, and the element of integrationin the concert of nations after the independences. This research, in general, seeks tocomprehend sport organizations in Gabon. It is all about understanding the implication andthe impact of sport federations in Gabon from its independence (1960) to now. A trip in thepast reveals us that sport federations are separated from the traditional culture and modernculture. Therefore, we can see why they are out of touch with the current economic and socioculturalneeds of the moment. As we travel back in time, the purpose of this thesis ismultidisciplinary and comparative, based on the methods of the sociology of sport. It seeks todecrypt historical, social, political, economic and institutional conditions; and the logic of thepresent actors, so to understand the consequences that follow, and are testimonies of a uniqueorganization a francophone area (Gabon, Cameroon, and Senegal). This thesis informs aboutthe sport policies. Who organizes? How? In whose interest? These principal questions lead usto the overall problematic: Why sport organizations in Gabon favor more imported models oforganization. In more detail, how the transposition of the French model influences sportpolicies in Gabon; and how does it interact with the local particularities. Far from being aGabonese specificity solely, the colonial input remains a substantial propriety in youngAfrican states

The main weaknesses is the poor financial situation also it has a number of opportunities which can be used for benefit. Porter's model proved that the current position is not clear. In the field of martial arts, the club has a good position in the market. Other fitness centers are stronger than a Fight Club. The main recommendation is to accept a marketing strategy and promote indoor lesson, becauce it is the major business of the club.

Abstract:
The governance of Australian nonprofit voluntary sport organisations (VSOs) was once almost the exclusive domain of volunteers. However, changes in government policy and funding levels in recent years has led to the introduction of professional staff in these organisations. Rapid changes to the political, social and economic environment have created new complexities with which VSOs and their governing boards must grapple. Boards act as the main decision making body for these organisations, and as such have a significant impact on the governance of these organisations, and therefore their ability to deliver services. While the process of professionalisation within VSOs has been well documented, very little research has examined factors that may influence the ability of the boards of VSOs to perform effectively. The fields of nonprofit governance and sport management provided a theoretical and conceptual framework for the investigation of the board performance of VSOs. Two broad themes concerning research into board performance were identified in the nonprofit literature; the structural characteristics of the board, and board-executive relations. These two themes have also been addressed to a limited extent within the sport management literature, but not in relation to board performance. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between board performance, board structures and board-executive relations in Australian VSOs. The study investigated the differences in board structure between effective and ineffective boards, and the relationship between board performance and various elements of board structure, specifically complexity, formalisation and centralisation. The differences in the nature of board-executive relations between effective and ineffective boards, and the relationship of board performance to board-executive relations were also investigated. The sampling frame for the study was state governing bodies of sport in the state of Victoria, Australia. Seven case organisations were identified by a panel of experts; four exhibiting effective board performance and three exhibiting ineffective board performance. Data were collected through structured interviews with executives, from an examination of board documents, from a self-administered questionnaire of executives, board chairs and board members, and through semi-structured interviews with executives, board chairs and board members. Data were collected on board performance, the complexity, formalisation and centralisation of the boards, power patterns within the boards, and the nature of board-executive relations. Data analysis involved both quantitative and qualitative techniques. It was concluded that effective board performance was related to a higher level of board centralisation and associated with a higher level of board formalisation. Board performance was not related to board complexity. Board power patterns that were perceived to be powerless or fragmented were related to lower levels of board performance. Elements of the board-executive relationship that were related to effective board performance were identified as establishing trust between the board and executive, the control of information by the executive, shared board leadership and the responsibility for board performance. Importantly, the study identified the central role executives have in determining the ability of VSO boards to perform effectively. The study contributed to the body of knowledge concerning the governance of VSOs, specifically the measurement of board performance, and the investigation of its relationship with board structure and board-executive relations. A number of questions were advanced for the development of theory and empirical investigation through further research. The study also extended what is known about the models of nonprofit governance and their utility in explaining the workings of VSO boards. The findings of this study suggest that there is a need to adapt such models to the organisational context of member-based organisations such as VSOs.

Abstract:
This thesis examines the issue of child protection policy in voluntary sector organisations. More particularly it examines policies concerned with protecting children from child sexual abuse, within the Church of England and British voluntary sector sport over a period in the mid-1990s. Using a poststructuralist theory, specifically Actor Network Theory (ANT) this thesis explores child protection policy and discussion through case studies in the contexts of one Church of England diocese and seven voluntary sector sport organisations, utilising semistructured interviews and documentary analysis. It is suggested that the Church of England and British voluntary sector sport have common discursive 'frames', through the historical incorporation of Christian discourses into the beginnings of modem sport in the 19th Century English Public Schools, that support sexual violence against women and children and which provide legitimate identities for abusers. This cultural support for abuse, combined with similar incoherence in the organisational structures in both the Church of England and British voluntary sector sport organisations, is identified as preventing the effective dissemination of child protection policy, where such existed. The major difference between the two areas is identified as the focus within sport organisations on an 'organisational body project' by which organisational aims are achieved. This focus on the body in sport, it is argued, provides increased access and opportunities for abuse by those, like coaches, who most immediately manage the 'organisational body project'.

Abstract:

The overarching purpose is to describe how elite soccer clubs choose to structure their sport oriented organization. This purpose leads us to questions and areas involving sport managers, casting, operational directions, education and goal setting in sport.

The results in this thesis are based upon a qualitative investigation of sport managers in Swedish elite soccer clubs. To strengthen the reliability in our choice of method we will fortify it with theories that reflect methodical choice.

Our conclusions in this thesis is that one can see a clear difference in how the clubs choose to structure the casting and operational directions within their organization. We have also noted that there is a clear distinguish between the levels of education amongst sport managers in Swedish elite soccer clubs.

Abstract:
Aim The aim of this study is to examine the Swedish Football Association’s (SvFF) referee organization at a district level, in relation to power and leadership, representation and organization. The analysis is based on whether there is a lack of referees in Sweden or not. The questions are as follows: -       Is there a lack of referees in Sweden and how does that effect the organization? -       What backgrounds are represented among the respondents of this study? -       What challenges do the districts face related to representation? -       Who do the districts believe should be responsible for how the district are organised? -       How do the districts want to develop their referee organizations in the future? Method To answer the questions of this study, semi-structured interviews have been used. The respondents were eight presidents of the districts’ referee committees, recruited through a hand-picked selection. After the interviews were made, the results were transcribed and analysed through power theory (Christensen, Daugaard Jensen & Lindkvist, 2011), organization theory (Slack & Parent, 2006) and representation theory (Wahl, Holgersson, Höök & Linghag, 2011). Results The results showed that there is a lack of referees in Swedish football according to the districts. The backgrounds of the respondents are very alike, independent of which district they represent. The representation within the organization is skew. Boys with other ethnic backgrounds than Swedish are over-represented, while girls are under-represented in general. There are challenges connected to how SvFF is organized, today there are uncertainties whether the SvFF or the districts should run the organizational development for referees. The areas of development mentioned are organizational in order to meet the set requirements, and representational to attract more girls to become referees. Conclusion With the results in mind, the conclusion drawn is that the organizational form of today is unsatisfactory according to the set goals of the overall sports movement. The factors most dependent was shown to be formalization and the relationships within the organization.

Abstract:
This research arises the problematic of sport solidarity in international organizations. Sport is often presented as a cathartic instrument -a conveyor of moral and ethic values. But what is it in reality. It is legitimate to ask the question since sport is a global social phenomenon. .

Abstract:

This is an essay about health promotion and organisation development. The problem concerning all health issues that can be tied to work related illnesses has long been a problem in Sweden. For example did this problem alone cost the Swedish government 25 million crones a day between the years 2000-2001. This is a major issue and there is lots of money to save in this area. This is why we wanted to research how to promote health by changing the structure of the selected company. One model that has been given more approval is the flat team based organisations where the workers themselves get to take vital decisions concerning for example their own workstation and work hours. There are no bosses telling them what to do. The teams that the workers are placed in have all the control over their station and the thought is that the teams are going to work as a business in the company itself. With this in mind we would like to shed some light on which conditions team based organisations have for pursuing health-promoting work. This leads us directly in on our problem based questions at this matter.

· How can a team-based organisation be described and understood from a healtpromoting perspective?

· Which terms are important in a team-based organisation to develop a health promoting work climate?

A part of the result of this study shows that to provide a good work climate in a team based organisation you have to have a leader that dare to let go a hand over the responsibility to his co-workers. His role has changed from a leading boss to a guide that works as a sounding board. Because of more people being involved in the whole process the communication is a vital part in making the new organisation work. As well as communication, learning new things is also a part in making the personnel more involved in the company. With knowing comes insight that brings a more meaningful feeling to the minds of the workers. So to make this short, learning, communication, understanding, a guiding leader and a sense of meaning is some of the most vital things to have in mind when creating a more inspiring environment for your co-workers.
