Abstract:
Abstract the soot oxidation characteristics and oxidation mechanism of ethylene flame with different methane mixing ratios were studied by thermogravimetric analyzer and oxidation reaction kinetics analysis. The conclusions are as follows: in the process of programmed temperature rise, there is almost no loss in the quality of soot particles below 450 °C; With the increasing temperature, the mass of soot particles began to decrease when the temperature exceeded 500 °C; When the temperature exceeds 750 °C, the mass of soot particles is close to zero; With the increase of flame height, the thermogravimetric curve of soot first shifts to high temperature and then to low temperature; The activation energy of soot is closely related to its oxidation process, and decreases first and then increases with the deepening of soot oxidation; The mixing of methane promotes the rise of soot ignition temperature and burnout temperature, and the minimum activation energy of soot decreases at low flame height and increases at high flame height.

Abstract:
The present study investigated the effects of adding 20 vol.% biodiesel to petroleum diesel (to produce a mixture termed B20) on the physical properties and reactivity of the resulting exhaust soot particles. Tests were performed at different engine loads of a constant speed, and the soot particles from the combustion of B20 and petroleum diesel fuel (DF) were collected from the engine exhaust stream. Transmission electron microscopy and Raman spectroscopy were employed for the analysis of soot morphology and nanostructure. The thermogravimetric analysis was used to determine the oxidative reactivity of the soot. For both the DF and B20 soot, increased engine loads result in soot aggregates with more compact morphology and primary soot particles with larger size and more organized structure. Compared to the DF soot, the B20 aggregates have a slightly more compact morphology and smaller primary particle size. No appreciable differences are observed in nanostructure between the DF and B20 soot. The thermogravimetric analysis demonstrates that the B20 soot is associated with lower peak temperature, burnout temperature and apparent activation energy, suggesting that it is more reactive than the DF soot.

Abstract:
Abstract When burning fuel in a diesel internal combustion engine, soot is an undesirable product. To reduce the soot content in the exhaust gases, it is necessary to know the physical and chemical bases of the process of soot formation and soot burnout. Due to the determining role of acetylene in the formation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in rich mixtures in the low-temperature zone and the key role of acetylene in the surface growth of a particle in the high-temperature zone, it is concluded that the rate of surface growth of a particle is proportional to the concentration of acetylene in the reaction zone, which can be determined by the gas-kinetic method, numerically solving a system of differential equations for the components of the gas mixture under consideration.

Abstract In accordance with the priority directions of development of the motor transport complex of the RF, the use of NGV fuel in transport should expand and by 2035 reach 50% of the total number of trucks and buses in large cities. This is due to a number of factors. The paper presents the results of studies confirming the effectiveness of using natural gas to reduce soot emissions with exhaust gases. In particular, the dynamics of the formation and burnout of soot particles by the angle of rotation of the crankshaft at the working operating mode is considered.

Abstract:
Abstract When studying the process of formation of soot nuclei in a flame, it is necessary to pay attention to the sequence of chemical transformations of fuel molecules in order to determine the concentration of dangerous toxic components in the exhaust gases (EG) of a diesel internal combustion engine (DICE). Today, numerous studies are being conducted to establish a detailed kinetic mechanism of the process of carbon condensation and gasification in a DICE. Despite significant progress in understanding the essence and some regularities of the processes occurring in a DICE, it is not yet possible to compile a numerical model that can predict the main indicators of soot content. A semi-empirical mathematical model of soot formation and burnout in a DICE is presented, compiled on the basis of a kinetic model that reliably predicts the dynamics of soot content in the cylinder and the concentration of soot in the EG in a wide range of operating modes of a DICE. The model makes it possible to facilitate the process of studying the factors of soot formation and reduce the cost of conducting experimental studies related to the search for alternative fuels and improving the design of a DICE, optimizing the operation of fuel supply and gas distribution systems.

The results of researches of wood burning parameters and influence of fire-retardant substances on them are given. Studies have shown that the process of heat insulation of a wooden structure is the formation of soot-like products on the surface of natural combustible material. Under the action of the burner flame on the protected sample treated with impregnating solutions based on a mixture of ammonium phosphate with antiseptic, the temperature of gaseous combustion products was 230 oC, and weight loss did not exceed 9%, while wood treated with a composition of urea and phosphoric acids and starch showed temperature of 160 oС with a weight loss of 3.6%. It is established that fire protection by coatings provides a low rate of burnout of wood samples and with increasing temperature exposure and translates into a non-flammable material that does not spread the flame on the surface.

Abstract:
Abstract Objectives The main objective of this study is to assess the effect of soft skills and emotional intelligence on burnout among health-care professionals in Lebanon. Materials and methods A cross-sectional study was conducted among health-care professionals working all over Lebanon for a period of 3 months starting from March till June 2021. In total, 324 out of 345 contacted health-care professionals responded. The survey was anonymous and administered via social networks as a link to an electronic form. The study included general sociodemographic questions and validated scales to measure emotional intelligence (Trait Meta-Mood Scale [TMMS-24]), burnout (Maslach Burnout Inventory for Health Services Survey [MBI-HSS]), and soft skills. Results Higher burnout was associated with lower soft skills (β = −0.137). Job satisfaction was negatively associated with burnout (β = −8.064). Nurses had higher burnout levels than dentists, radiologists, midwives, nutritionists, psychotherapists, and speech therapists (β = −4.595). Also, people working in Baalbek, Akkar, Beqaa, North and South had lower burnout levels compared to those working in Beirut (β = −9.015). As for emotional intelligence, no statistically significant association was found with burnout (P = 0.116). Conclusion This study showed that soft skills and emotional intelligence can affect job burnout. Additional research should be conducted in order to support our findings.

Abstract:
Neurology faces an increasing shortage of neurologists in the United States due to a growing demand for neurologic services. A 7% increase in the supply of neurologists is predicted from 2012 to 2025, whereas the demand will rise by 16%. An increase in the neurology workforce is critical to meet the demands, and a significant gender gap remains within the workforce that must be addressed to further ease the discrepancy between supply and demand. Individual, institutional, and societal factors contribute to this gender discrepancy and potentially result in the burnout or soft attrition of women from neurology. These factors, including earning disparity between male and female neurologists, one of the largest gaps in pay for any medical specialty, and the lack of representation at higher academic levels with only 12% (14 of 113) of neurology department chairs at academic medical centers being women, could lead to increased attrition of women from neurology. Identifying and mitigating these factors may help narrow the gender gap and increase the supply of neurologists to better meet future demand.

Abstract:
This article touches on the problem of burnout, which is caused by stress in every job, and is manifested in physical and mental exhaustion, a tendency to irritation and boredom. Occurrence of burnout in a working person will be associated with individual personality traits and functioning in the workplace. The purpose of the work is to determine to what extent the studied group was affected by occupational burnout. The study was conducted on 23 female nurses working in the Psychiatric Department of the Specialist Hospital in Częstochowa. Christina Maslach's occupational burnout questionnaire was used for the purpose of the study. The questionnaire consists of 22 closed questions and two yes or no answers. Subjects completed the anonymous survey questionnaire. The entire group of respondents was examined in three aspects of burnout: emotional burnout, depersonalization and job satisfaction. The rate of emotional exhaustion was 80%, depersonalization 64%, professional satisfaction 68%. The index of occupational burnout syndrome among nurses of the Psychiatric Ward of the Specialist Hospital in Częstochowa is high. It is difficult to assess how much it threatens the functioning of individuals. There is no doubt that remedial and preventive measures should be taken as soon as possible, not only by the individual but also by the employer. Burnout can affect anyone who over-exploits their strength at work for the benefit of others, without caring for their own mental health.

There was created the laboratory plant for implementation of the method. It is experimentally established that the process of burnout of materials depends on the temperature of the reactor and the air flow rate. The burn-up curve has an S-shape and three characteristic sections: the induction period, the linear section, and the reaction section where the carbon residue burns out. The article presents the results of study of some widely distributed materials in tabular form. The mass burn rate of beech wood is 1.5 times higher than that one of pine. Perhaps this is due to the impregnation of beech with furniture varnish, since the sample was part of the furniture lining. It is noteworthy that significant discrepancy in the burn-up rates was obtained during combustion of samples of different brands of polyurethane foams. So, for hard polyurethane foam - “izolan 2”, which has a flame retardant in its composition, burnout curves with longer induction period are obtained (as a result of flame retardant action). However, the burnout rate is higher in comparison with soft polyurethane foam without flame retardant (foam rubber). The composition of the material “isolan-2”. Rubber also has a long induction period, but a high burnout rate.

Abstract:
English Job stress and perceived inequity are revealed as correlates of burnout among school social workers in Hong Kong. The findings do not support the expectation that burnout is general, in spite of the government’s reforms in the social welfare services. A sense of personal accomplishment may serve as a mediator. However, the respondents suffer from role strain and identity confusion due to lack of communication among schools authorities, students and parents.

Abstract:
A refinement of the honeycomb trap model developed by the authors for analyzing the temperature history of the trap channels during the regeneration period is presented. The first results obtained, shown in previous papers [1, 2], encouraged the authors to improve the model in order to account for the heat transfer not only along the channel length, but also in the radial direction. In order to achieve this objective, a control volume approach was used to simulate the soot regeneration in all contiguous channels along the axial and radial directions of the monolith, and to determine the wall temperature and soot oxidation as a function of time. Different thermodynamic conditions of the exhaust gas at the trap inlet were considered in order to examine the effects of cold regeneration. For the same soot amount accumulated in the trap, the soot burnup time and temperature history depend on the inlet temperature. In addition to varying the gas initial conditions, the effects of the amount of soot collected and its radial distribution in the channels, before the regeneration process takes place, were also considered in order to predict the wall temperature rise and the soot oxidation rate. The results show the temperature peak values and their location inside the trap, and permit estimation of the conditions under which the trap temperature can reach unbearable values.

Abstract:
Introduction. Reforming general secondary education requires a change in the role of a teacher (facilitator, moderator, tutor) and requires their ability to introduce new learning technologies and developed soft skills (the ability to work in a team, solve problems and find creative solutions, etc.). Teachers often lack confidence in their abilities, fear failure, and want to postpone the plans for their professional improvement and personal growth, which is called procrastination. There fore, in order to prevent procrastination, there is a need to study the level of its manifestation in pedagogical workers and to determine the factors that effectthis phenomenon. Aim.To determine the levels of procrastination in teaching staff and to find out the relationship between them and teachers' organizational and professional characteristics (self-organization of activities, planning effectiveness, professional motivation, organizational abilities, professional burnout). Methods. To determine the level of teaching staff procrastination, we used the Degree of Procrastination questionnaire by M. Kiseleva. In order to determine teachers' organizational and professional characteristics, five questionnaires were used: O. Mandrikova Self-organization of the Activity, Efficiency of Planning,A. Rean Motivation for Success and Fear of Failure, Express Assessment of Organizational Abilities, and Burnout syndrome in Human-Human Professions. Results. There was a relationship between the level of teaching staff procrastination and their organizational and professional factors such as effective planning, success motivation and fear of failure, organizational abilities, and professional burnout. No statistically significant relationship was found between the level of teaching staff procrastination and their self-organization of the activities. Conclusions.High levels of teaching staff procrastination have a negative impact on the development of teachers' professional motivation, readiness to plan and fulfill professional duties on time, as well as contributes to their emotional exhaustion, reduces their optimism and positive attitude towards work and colleagues, etc.

Abstract:
The triple and parallel loss of quality of life, health, and ability without an organic reason is what we normally recognize as a life crisis, stress, or a burnout. Not being in control is often a terrible and unexpected experience. Failure on the large existential scale is not a part of our expectations, but most people will experience it. The key to getting well again is to get resources and help, which most people experience with shame and guilt. Stress and burnout might seem to be temporary problems that are easily handled, but often the problems stay. It is very important for the physician to identify this pattern and help the patient to realize the difficulties and seriousness of the situation, thus helping the patient to assume responsibility and prevent existential disaster, suicide, or severe depression. As soon as the patient is an ally in fighting the dark side of life and works with him/herself, the first step has been reached. Existential pain is really a message to us indicating that we are about to grow and heal. In our view, existential problems are gifts that are painful to receive, but wise to accept. Existential problems require skill on the part of the holistic physician or therapist in order to help people return to life—to their self-esteem, self-confidence, and trust in others. In this paper, we describe how we have met the patients soul to soul and guided them through the old pains and losses in order to get back on the track to life.

Abstract:
Temporomandibular disorders (TMD) consist of not only the internal derangement of Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) but also areas extrinsic to TMJ. Osteoarthritis is a common degenerative joint disease that manifests as a chronic debilitating disease and occurs due to degradation and loss of articular cartilage. There occur changes in the subchondral bone and other soft tissues. Osteoarthritis is not uncommon in the Temporomandibular joints (TMJs). The etiopathogenesis of osteoarthritis is associated with multiple risk factors. The disease progresses slowly and passes through different phases with periods of remission and ultimately results in the burnout phase. It needs a good understanding of the diagnostic algorithm and that facilitates better management of the disease in the TMJ. The aim of this review article is to highlight and update the prevalence, diagnosis, pathogenesis and general characteristics of TMJ Osteoarthritis.

Abstract:
The authors explore media distrust among a sample of precarious and gig workers interviewed during the COVID-19 pandemic. Although these left-leaning respondents initially increased their media consumption at the outset of the pandemic, they soon complained of media sensationalism and repurposed a readily available cultural tool: claims of “fake news.” As a result, these unsettled times have resulted in a “diffusion of distrust,” in which an elite conservative discourse of skepticism toward the media has also become a popular form of compensatory control among self-identified liberals. Perceiving “fake news” and media sensationalism as “not good” for their mental health, respondents also reported experiencing media burnout and withdrawing from media consumption. As the pandemic passes its one-year anniversary, this research has implications for long-term media coverage on COVID-19 and ongoing media trust and consumption.

Abstract:
BACKGROUND: An integral part of modern orthopedic dentistry is the rehabilitation of patients with partial or completely missing teeth using intraosseous implant prosthetics. Despite the high success rate of implant integration, practicing dentists continue to encounter biological and technical complications during prosthetic treatment. One of the reasons for the resulting complications is inaccuracies in the design of orthopedic components. Since today the Russian dental market offers a wide range of suprastructures from different manufacturers and price categories, there is a need to compare the accuracy of their designs. AIM: To identify the difference between the accuracy of fit of original and non-original suprastructures presented in the Russian dental materials market by studying microgaps between these components and original Straumann implants. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Seven bone-level implants and six tissue-level Straumann implants were used. The original Straumann titanium bone-level and tissue-level bases were used as control superstructures. The following non-original components were used as test specimens: cast cobaltchromium bone and tissue-level bases from GeoMedi, plastic burnout bone-level abutments from NT-trading, and non-original titanium bone- and tissue-level abutments from GeoMedi, Zirkonzahn, and NT-trading. Cobalt-chromium abutments for tissue-level to a soft state were obtained from GeoMedi. Cobaltchromium specimens, namely, cast-to-fabricate and pre-smooth abutments from GeoMedi and a plastic burnout abutment from NT-trading, underwent a full technical cycle of metal-ceramic crown fabrication. All specimens were pressed in epoxy using a SimpliMet 1000 automatic hot press. Specimens were ground using a Buehler Beta-1 grinding and polishing machine with an automatic Vector attachment. Grinding was conducted layer by layer in three steps with a step of 1 mm. The contact area was examined with a Tescan Mira LMU scanning electron microscope. RESULTS: Segments between the implant and abutment and between the abutment and screw were considered in calculating the study results. Using a scanning electron microscope (Tescan Mira LMU), the length of the gap sections not exceeding 1 m and the length of each gap section exceeding 1 m were measured on each segment. For each gap, the area percentage was calculated, with the gap width not exceeding 1 m. CONCLUSION: For Straumann bone- and tissue-level implants, the original Straumann titanium bases had the highest fit accuracy, but for Straumann bone-level implants, the non-original titanium abutments from GeoMedi and Zirkonzahn also had a similar fit. The fit of the non-original cobaltchromium bases from GeoMedi and the burnout plastic abutment from NT-trading did not meet the criteria for an accurate fit of the superstructures.

Abstract:
Purpose Stigma by association occurs when members affiliated with a marginalized group become discredited themselves. The purpose of this paper is to explore associative stigma among mental health (MH) clinicians working with individuals diagnosed with serious mental illness (SMI). Design/methodology/approach In total, 47 eligible service providers completed an online qualitative study, with open-ended questions about areas touching on associative stigma such as assumptions about the MH profession, personal experiences of work-related stigma, and ways of coping. Findings The data revealed that MH clinicians commonly endorse experiences of associative stigma. The following themes were derived: experiences of stigma in describing the profession to others, media portrayal of MH professionals, assumptions about the field, ascriptions of personal characteristics, job devaluation, means of coping with associative stigma, and impact of associative stigma on work on clients. Originality/value This is the first qualitative study to examine the phenomenon of associative stigma with MH clinicians. This study suggests that MH providers working with people with SMI do encounter associative stigma when discussing their profession with community members. Professionals discussed encountering the stereotype that the work that they do is dangerous, that it is something “unwanted” and that it does not require much skill but could be done by anyone. Associative stigma could be an important component in the understanding of factors related to professional burnout.

Abstract:
Splintage is commonly used in conjunction with pressure therapy to tackle the contracted scars, make it supple and thus minimise dysfunction. A static or dynamic splint can provide valuable therapy that goes beyond any treatment session. The patient's active participation in the splint programme can facilitate early recovery. A good splinting design and wearing regime often depends on the therapist's understanding and integration of visco-elastic properties in soft tissues, maturation process of hypertrophic scars and mechanical principles in splinting. Different types of splints serve different functions at different stages of rehabilitation. A suitable and efficient application of splints can minimise most of the corrective surgical intervention and alleviate psychological trauma. This article attempts to highlight the clinical rationale and special considerations when applying different splintage on burns patients with upper limbs involvement.

Abstract:
Recently, the concept of actinide burning instead of a once-through fuel cycle for disposing spent nuclear fuel seems to get much more attention. A new method of burning high-level transuranic (TRU) waste combined with Thorium–Uranium (Th–U) fuel in the subcritical reactors driven by external fusion neutron sources is proposed in this paper. The thorium-based TRU fuel burns all of the long-lived actinides via a hard neutron spectrum while outputting power. A one-dimensional model of the reactor concept was built by means of the ONESN_BURN code with new data libraries. The numerical results included actinide radioactivity, biological hazard potential, and much higher burnup rate of high-level transuranic waste. The comparison of the fusion–fission reactor with the thermal reactor shows that the harder neutron spectrum is more efficient than the soft. The Th–U cycle produces less TRU, less radiotoxicity and fewer long-lived actinides. The Th–U cycle provides breeding of [Formula: see text]U with a long operation time (>20 years), hence significantly reducing the reactivity swing while improving safety and burnup.

Abstract:
The rescue, rehabilitation and release of injured and orphaned Australian wildlife is managed by over 20,000 carers, mostly voluntarily. These volunteers experience mental, physical and financial challenges that have not been researched adequately. This study collated the responses (n = 316) to a survey conducted among Australian wildlife carers who actively foster orphaned joeys for hand-raising and injured adult mammals for rehabilitation and release. It confirmed 86% of rehabilitators are female, 70% are over the age of 46 years and their prime motivation is an affinity with animals. The average time spent in the sector is 11.5 years, and the work week is 31.6 h, caring for 15 animals per year, with an average of 2.6 dying. The average financial commitment is AUD5300 annually and up to AUD800,000 over a lifetime. Regarding the grief experienced by carers, the lower the age, the longer the time spent, the greater the financial input and the more joeys that died, the more severe is the grief experienced. Moderate to severe grief is experienced by 28% of carers, which, coupled with other factors, could lead to burnout or compassion fatigue. Soon, wildlife carer welfare will likely be compromised unless financial and mental support is provided and their workload reduced.

Abstract:
Polar liquids including methanol are widely used in various industries. It has unique physical and chemical properties: extreme fire and explosion hazard, corrosive activity, high toxicity. These properties determine the complexity of its extinguishing. In Russia, there is practically no normative base for the design, construction, and repair of tanks where methanol is stored. In the available recommendations for extinguishing methanol fires by «soft» method the normative intensity of alcohol-resistant foam supply to the fire source is underestimated. Alcohol-resistant foam concentrates such as AFFF/AR, FFF/AR, S/AR allow to ensure reliable extinguishing of polar liquids. To do this, it is required to determine the method of supplying the foaming agent and its standard intensity when extinguishing methanol in the tanks. Thermophysical properties of the methanol combustion (heat fluxes, burnout rate, heat release rate) determine the possibility of developing methods for its extinguishing on the model fire seats. For these purposes, the pallets with a diameter of more than 3 m can be used with a side thickness of 6 mm. To extinguish methanol, it is proposed to use a low-expansion self-foaming gas-aerosol filled foam with a standard flow rate of 0.25 l/(m2·s). Specific consumption of the fire extinguishing agent was determined: for methanol, it should be 30 l/m2 with an extinguishing time of 120 s. Foam generation can take place without the use of traditional foam generators with the help of self-contained solid fuel fire extinguishing installations. When using them, the problem of corrosion resistance of foam generating equipment is solved, and the «soft» fire extinguishing method is also implemented for the tanks with a volume of 5000 m3 or more.

Abstract:
On the eve of the 1689 Revolution in England, Gilbert Burnet was best known as an ecclesiastical historian. Although he had had a noteworthy career as a Whigleaning cleric, who had gone into exile at the start of James II’s reign and had entered the household of William of Orange in the Hague, Burnet’s reputation had been based on his magisterial History of the Reformation. This had appeared in its first two volumes in 1678 and 1683, and had rapidly become the standard work on the religious changes of the Tudor age. Soon after the Revolution, Burnet also became notable as the chief propagandist of the new regime. He produced a steady stream of works justifying William’s usurpation of James’s throne, and played a major part in organizing such pro-Orange events as the fast days marking William’s war with Louis XIV. This essay explores a key intersection of these two roles. It suggests that Burnet’s explicitly pro-Williamite understanding of church history gave rise to a new division of the past, and effectively invented the Restoration era as a distinct period of British history, running from 1660 to 1689.

Abstract:
Today, reflow soldering is a commonly used technique to establish large-area joints in power electronics modules. These joints are needed to attach large-area (>1 cm2) power semiconductor chips to the substrate, e.g., a direct-bond copper substrate, and the multichip module substrate to a copper base plate for heat spreading. Thermal performance, specifically thermal conductivity and thermomechanical reliability, of these large-area joints are critical to the electrical performance and lifetime of the power modules. Soft solder alloys, including the lead-tin eutectic and lead-free alternatives, have low thermal conductivities and are highly susceptible to fatigue failure. As demands mount for higher power density, higher junction temperature, and longer lifetime out of the power modules, reliance on solder-based joining is becoming a barrier for further advancement in power electronics systems. Recently, we successfully demonstrated lowtemperature sintering of nanoscale silver paste as a lead-free solution for achieving highperformance, high-reliability, and high-temperature interconnection of small devices (<0.09 cm2). In this paper, we report the results of our study to extend the low-temperature sintering technique to large-area joints. The study involved redesigning the organic and inorganic components of the nanoscale silver paste, analyzing the burnout kinetics of the various organic species sandwiched between large-area plates, and developing desirable temperature-time profile to improve sintering and bonding strength of the joints.

Abstract:
ObjectiveTo explore the impact of occupational diseases (ODs) through estimations of population attributable fractions (PAFs) in a national context.MethodsPAFs were calculated for eight prevalent ODs using existing data on the prevalence of exposure to risk factors at work and the strength of their association with diseases based on systematic reviews. Six systematic reviews with meta-analyses and two overview papers were selected. All addressed the relationship between occupational exposure to work-related risk factors for these eight prevalent ODs. Prevalence figures for exposure to work-related risk factors were retrieved from the Dutch National Working Conditions Survey (NWCS) based on self-reports by approximately 40 000 workers. The specific risk factors retrieved from the reviews were matched with the available and dichotomised self-reported exposure items from the NWCS by two authors.ResultsThe eight frequently reported ODs among the Dutch working population revealed PAFs varying between 3% and 25%. Lateral epicondylitis and distress/burnout had the highest attributable fractions, with percentages of 25% and 18%, respectively. For knee osteoarthritis (13%), shoulder soft tissue disorders (10%) and non-specific low back pain (10%) approximately 1 in 10 cases were attributable to work. PAFs for irritant contact dermatitis, noise-induced hearing loss and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease were 15%, 6% and 3%, respectively.ConclusionData from systematic reviews and self-reported data on exposure provide opportunities to estimate the impact of ODs. For the Netherlands, they revealed substantial and varying attributions of work for prevalent diseases.

Abstract Resilience is one of the key competences that enables specialists and managers to survive crisis situations in a world of work, which is shaped by volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity. This world is presented to graduates today. For several years now we see an alarming trend of increasing mental illnesses, especially among young workers (WldO, 2018). Based on a qualitative exploratory study, this article makes a contribution to the design of resilience-promoting onboarding for young professionals in order to better prepare them for the crises of the future as soon as they enter the world of work.

Abstract:
COVID-19 has impacted psychiatric education at many levels from postgraduate training to Continuous Medical Education (CME). We invited participants at the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS) who are national representatives to share how COVID-19 has impacted postgraduate training and Continuous Professional Development (CPD) in their countries. They were asked to report the challenges but also the opportunities created by the pandemic and their answers were analysed. Several themes emerged. Challenges in postgraduate training have been absences caused by COVID, redeployment, reduced interactions and postponement of assessments. The mental health of trainees was affected, including burnout. Interestingly in some places, like Denmark, training was less impacted as psychiatry was designated as ‘critical’ and therefore no redeployment. Exams have moved online and there have been concerns about cheating in the new format. In countries where it is obligatory to be uptodate with CME/CPD to maintain medical registration, the usual requirements were waived. Conferences and live events have moved online and webinars became popular and widely accepted. Some positive developments included rapid adoption of technology, for consultations and training, increased relevance of CPD/CME, emphasis on team cohesion and recognition of the need for self-care and team support. The pandemic also fostered international collaboration, e.g. sharing guidelines for new ways of working. Some of the innovations described, mainly related to the adoption of technology and remote working will likely be taken in the future. However, the sentiment remains that live exchanges are valuable and should be resumed as soon as it is safe.DisclosureNo significant relationships.
