Abstract:
In this study, the performance and long-time evaluation of solid-state composite (SSC) reference electrodes were investigated. The stability of all the SSC reference electrodes was continuously monitored by using potentiometry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy methods over a period of several months. A multi-solution protocol was used to study the influence of the ionic strength of the sample solution, ion charge, and mobility, and the sample pH values on the performance of the reference electrodes. The SSC reference electrodes were used in the calibration of commercial indicator electrodes for different ions at different temperatures. The concentrations of K+, Na+, Ca2+, and Cl- ions and pH values were measured in river water samples at different temperatures using the SSC reference electrodes. The obtained results for the same samples were compared with the results given by an independent laboratory specialized in routine water analyses. The agreement between the results was very good and even better than the case where commercial reference electrodes were used. Our study showed that the SSC reference electrodes exhibit good long-term stability and excellent performance, both in the calibrations and analyses of environmental samples.

Abstract:
In this work, solid-state polymer supercapacitor (SSC) was assembled using poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene/carbon paper (PEDOT/CP) as an electrode and ionic liquid (1-butyl-3-methylimidazole tetrafluoroborate)/polyvinyl alcohol/sulfuric acid (IL/PVA/H2SO4) as a gel polymer electrolyte (GPE). The GPE was treated through freezing–thawing (F/T) cycles to improve the electrochemical properties of PEDOT SSC. Cyclic voltammetry (CV), galvanostatic charge–discharge measurements (GCD) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) techniques and conductivity were carried out to study the electrochemical performance. The results showed that the SSC based on ionic liquid GPE (SSC-IL/PVA/H2SO4) has a higher specific capacitance (with the value of 86.81 F/g at 1 mA/cm2) than the SSC-PVA/H2SO4.The number of F/T cycles has a great effect on the electrochemical performance of the device. The energy density of the SSC treated with 3 F/T cycles was significantly improved, reaching 176.90 Wh/kg. Compared with the traditional electrolytes, IL GPE has the advantages of high ionic conductivity, less volatility, non-flammability and wider potential window. Moreover, the IL GPE has excellent elastic recovery and self-healing performance, leading to its great potential applications in flexible or smart energy storage equipment.

Abstract:
Solid state chemistry (SSC) concept is abstract yet makes it difficult for students. Considering students’ and scientist conception in designing a learning sequence, it is important to make scientific knowledge to be comprehensible for students. Model of Educational Reconstruction (MER) was adopted to define learning in order to develop students’ Conceptual Knowledge (CK) of the SSC concept. A sequence of learning activities was designed based on the MER. The purpose of this study was to examine the use of MER in developing students’ CK. One group pre- and post-test experimental design employed in this study. CK on SSC structured essay test consisting of 26 items were developed to measure students’ CK before and after their involvement in learning. Paired sample t-tests were employed and the results showed significant differences in the overall domain-knowledge (p < .001). In detail, students’ CK categorized into complete (C), incomplete (IC), misconception (M), incorrect (I), and no answer (NA). After the intervention, the number of students that answered correctly increased (57,4% complete and 21% incomplete). This study showed that MER was an effective learning design to develop students’ conceptual knowledge of chemistry concepts.

Abstract:
To resolve the energy storage challenges in portable electronic devices, flexible and solid-state supercapacitor are need of the hour. These devices are appealing as replacements to conventional lithium-ion batteries due to their high power density, long cycle life, chemical stability, and safety. We have synthesized sp2 hybridized porous carbon nanostructure using poly-paraphenylenediamine (PpPD) as a polymer and activated the prepared material via chemical activation for supercapacitor application. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report on the demonstration of poly-paraphenylenediamine (PpPD) derived N-enriched porous activated carbon (PNAC) electrode with PVA/H2SO4 electrolyte for solid-state supercapacitor (SSC) device with high energy density and excellent cyclic stability. PNAC electrodes-based SSC electrochemical studies exhibit a high specific capacitance value of 39 F g−1 at 0.2 A g−1 current density. The solid-state supercapacitor attained energy density of 21.66 Wh kg−1 at power density of 199 W kg−1 and 0.2 A g−1 current density. The symmetric solid-state supercapacitor displays an outstanding cyclic stability up to 10,000 galvanostatic charge-discharge (GCD) cycles. High energy density and stability of the prepared device suggests it utility in portable energy storage application.

Abstract:
Aims: The aim of this research was to evaluate the SSC of Aspergillus niger and Trichoderma reesei alone and in consortium for the citric acid production from sugarcane bagasse. Methods: Solid-State Cultivation (SSC) is characterized by microbial growth on solid supports often agroindustrial by-products in the near absence of free water conditions. Citric acid, an important by-product used in various sectors of the economy, can be obtained from the SSC using sugarcane bagasse, minimizing the cost of its production with the use of this industrial by-product. Results: The fungal consortiums have advantages over the isolated cultures, highlighting the best use of substrates due to enzyme supplementation, especially hydrolases. Conclusion: The results indicated a specific production of citric acid of 2.51 mg per g of biomass per hour, which was higher than that obtained when using the two fungi alone.

Abstract:
This work reports endoglucanase and beta-glucosidase production by the thermophilic fungusMyceliophthora heterothallicain solid-state (SSC) and submerged (SmC) cultivation. Wheat bran and sugarcane bagasse were used for SSC and cardboard for SmC. Highest endoglucanase production in SSC occurred after 192 hours: 1,170.6 ± 0.8 U/g, and in SmC after 168 hours: 2,642 ± 561 U/g. The endoglucanases and beta-glucosidases produced by both cultivation systems showed slight differences concerning their optimal pH and temperature. The number of endoglucanases was also different: six isoforms in SSC and ten in SmC. Endoglucanase activity remained above 50% after incubation between pH 3.0 and 9.0 for 24 h for both cultivation systems. The effect of several chemicals displayed variation between SSC and SmC isoenzymes. Manganese activated the enzymes from SmC but inhibited those from SSC. Forβ-glucosidases, maximum production on SmC was 244 ± 48 U/g after 168 hours using cardboard as carbon source. In SSC maximum production reached 10.9 ± 0.3 U/g after 240 h with 1 : 1 wheat bran and sugarcane bagasse. Manganese exerted a significant activation on SSCβ-glucosidases, and glucose inhibited the enzymes from both cultivation systems. FeCl3exerted the strongest inhibition for endoglucanases andβ-glucosidases.

Abstract:
Fermentation in solid state culture (SSC) has been the focus of increasing interest because of its potential for industrial applications. In previous studies SSC of pomegranate wastes by Aspergillus niger has been extensively developed and optimized for the recovery of ellagic acid (EA), a high value bioactive. In this study we comparatively investigated the SSC of powdered pomegranate husks by A. niger and Saccharomyces cerevisiae and evaluated the recovery yields of EA by an ultrasound and microwave-assisted 7:3 water/ethanol extraction. Surprisingly enough, the yields obtained by S. cerevisiae fermentation (4% w/w) were found 5-fold higher than those of the A. niger fermented material, with a 10-fold increase with respect to the unfermented material. The EA origin was traced by HPLC analysis that showed a significant decrease in the levels of punicalagin isomers and granatin B and formation of punicalin following fermentation. Other extraction conditions that could warrant a complete solubilization of EA were evaluated. Using a 1:100 solid to solvent ratio and DMSO as the solvent, EA was obtained in 4% yields from S. cerevisiae fermented husks at a high purity degree. Hydrolytic treatment of S. cerevisiae fermented pomegranate husks afforded a material freed of the polysaccharides components that gave recovery yields of EA up to 12% w/w.

Abstract:
Biocontrol agents are a group of naturally occurring organisms capable of interrupting the lifespan and suppressing the propagation of disease organisms. The use of biocontrol agents offers an environment-friendly and sustainable solution to the synthetic agrochemicals. In this study, we investigated parboiled rice and millets as substrates for spore production of two model biocontrol microorganisms (Bacillus pumilus and Streptomyces griseus) under solid state cultivation (SSC) conditions. The effects of cultivation parameters such as initial moisture content, water activity, and cultivation time on microbial growth and spore production were studied. Furthermore, texture profile analysis was performed to test the stress and strain curve and the hardness and stickiness of the substrates. The greatest spore production occurred at 50% moisture content with millets as a substrate, yielding a count of 1.34 × 108 spores/g-wet-substrate enumerated with plate count analysis and 1.70 × 108 events/g-wet-substrate using flow cytometry analysis. Substrate texture profile was highly correlative to the initial moisture content and substrate type and all proved to be essential process variables in controlling the bacterial growth and sporulation during SSC processes.

Abstract:
Hierarchical VOOH hollow spheres with low crystallinity composed of nanoparticles were prepared by a facile and template-free method, which involved a precipitation of precursor microspheres in aqueous solution at room temperature and subsequent hydrothermal reaction. Quasi-solid-state symmetric and asymmetric supercapacitor (SSC and ASC) devices were fabricated using hierarchical VOOH hollow spheres as the electrodes, and the electrochemical properties of the VOOH//VOOH SSC device and the VOOH//AC ASC device were studied by cyclic voltammetry (CV), galvanostatic charge–discharge (GCD) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). Results demonstrated that the electrochemical performance of the VOOH//AC ASC device was better than that of the VOOH//VOOH SSC device. After 3000 cycles, the specific capacitance of the VOOH//AC ASC device retains 83% of the initial capacitance, while the VOOH//VOOH SSC device retains only 7.7%. Findings in this work proved that hierarchical VOOH hollow spheres could be a promising candidate as an ideal electrode material for supercapacitor devices.

Abstract:
The development of polymer-based devices has attracted much attention due to their miniaturization, flexibility, lightweight and sustainable power sources with high efficiency in the field of wearable/portable electronics, and energy system. In this work, we proposed a polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF)-based composite matrix for both energy harvesting and energy storage applications. The physicochemical characterizations, such as X-ray diffraction, laser Raman, and field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) analyses, were performed for the electrospun PVDF/sodium niobate and PVDF/reduced graphene oxide composite film. The electrospun PVDF/sodium niobate nanofibrous mat has been utilized for the energy harvester which shows an open circuit voltage of 40 V (peak to peak) at an applied compressive force of 40 N. The PVDF/reduced graphene oxide composite film acts as the electrode for the symmetric supercapacitor (SSC) device fabrication and investigated for their supercapacitive properties. Finally, the self-charging system has been assembled using PVDF/sodium niobate (energy harvester), and PVDF/reduced graphene oxide SSC (energy storage) and the self-charging capability is investigated. The proposed self-charging system can create a pathway for the all-polymer based composite high-performance self-charging system.

Abstract:
A facile oxygen (O2) atmospheric plasma treatment is applied to a polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) matrix to enhance its wettability and hydrophilicity. The optimal plasma treatment conditions are determined by varying the applied plasma power and plasma treatment time. A PVA matrix treated with a plasma power of 120 W for 5 s shows the most hydrophilicity owing to successful formation of carbonyl (–CO, >C=O) functional groups without any structural degradation. The plasma-treated PVA matrix is used as the gel-polymer electrolyte of a solid-state supercapacitor (SSC) by immersing solid matrix into various liquid electrolytes, such as sodium sulfate (Na2SO4), sulfuric acid (H2SO4), and potassium hydroxide (KOH). Compared with the pristine PVA-based device, PVA-120W5/Na2SO4-, PVA-120W5/H2SO4-, and PVA-120W5/KOH-based SSCs show 2.03, 2.05, and 2.14 times higher specific capacitances, respectively. The plasma-treated PVA matrix shows increased specific capacitance owing to the increased wettability, which in turn increases the ion transportation and reduces the electrical resistance. This study successfully demonstrates that the electrochemical performance of a SSC can be readily enhanced through plasma treatment for a short time (≤5 s).

Abstract:
The use of phase change materials (PCM) for thermal energy storage (TES) is of great relevance, especially for the exploitation, in various ways, of the major ecological resource offered by solar energy. Unfortunately, the transition to the liquid state of PCM requires complex systems and limits their application. The goal of producing shape-stabilized phase change materials (SSPCM) is mainly pursued with the use of media capable of containing PCM during solid/liquid cycles. In this work, four cheap shape stabilizers were considered: sepiolite, diatomite, palygorskite and zeolite and two molten salts as PCM, for medium (MT) and high temperature (HT). The SSPCM, produced with an energy saving method, showed good stability and thermal storage performances. Diatomite reaches up to 400% wt. of encapsulated PCM, with a shape stabilization coefficient (SSc) of 97.7%. Zeolite exhibits a SSc of 87.3% with 348% wt. of HT-PCM. Sepiolite contains 330% wt. of MT-PCM with an SSc of 82.7. Therefore, these materials show characteristics such that they can be efficiently used in thermal energy storage systems, both individually and inserted in a suitable matrix (for example a cementitious matrix).

Abstract:
A series of heteroatom-containing porous carbons with high surface area and hierarchical porosity were successfully prepared by hydrothermal, chemical activation, and carbonization processes from soybean residues. The initial concentration of soybean residues has a significant impact on the textural and surface functional properties of the obtained biomass-derived porous carbons (BDPCs). SRAC5 sample with a BET surface area of 1945 m2 g−1 and a wide micro/mesopore size distribution, nitrogen content of 3.8 at %, and oxygen content of 15.8 at % presents the best electrochemical performance, reaching 489 F g−1 at 1 A g−1 in 6 M LiNO3 aqueous solution. A solid-state symmetric supercapacitor (SSC) device delivers a specific capacitance of 123 F g−1 at 1 A g−1 and a high energy density of 68.2 Wh kg−1 at a power density of 1 kW kg−1 with a wide voltage window of 2.0 V and maintains good cycling stability of 89.9% capacitance retention at 2A g−1 (over 5000 cycles). The outstanding electrochemical performances are ascribed to the synergistic effects of the high specific surface area, appropriate pore distribution, favorable heteroatom functional groups, and suitable electrolyte, which facilitates electrical double-layer and pseudocapacitive mechanisms for power and energy storage, respectively.

Abstract:
People usually assess fruit qualities from external features such as color, shape, size, and texture. However, it is quite common that we select fruits with perfect appearances but rotten inside, especially for fruits with thick pericarps. Thus the accurate measurement is desirable to evaluate the internal conditions of fruits. As two key features of fruit internal qualities, existing methods on measuring fruit moisture and soluble solid contents (SSC) are either destructive or costly, limiting their adoption in daily life. In this paper, we propose Wi-Fruit, a non-destructive and low-cost fruit moisture and SSC measurement system leveraging Wi-Fi channel state information (CSI). First, to cope with the fruit structure dependency challenge, we propose a double-quotient model to pre-process CSI on adjacent antennas. Second, to address the fruit size and type dependency challenges, a lightweight artificial neural network (ANN) model with visual information fusion is proposed for fruit moisture and SSC estimations. Extensive evaluations are conducted on 6 types of fruits with both thick (i.e., watermelon and grapefruit) and thin pericarps (i.e., dragon fruit, apple, pear, and orange) over a month in either an empty laboratory room or a library with massive books. Results demonstrate that Wi-Fruit achieves an acceptable estimation accuracy (RMSE=0.319). It is independent of various fruit structures, sizes, and types, while also robust to time and environmental changes. The fruit internal sensing capabilities of Wi-Fruit can help fruit saving and safety in both pre-harvest and post-harvest applications.

Abstract:
The state of ripeness at harvest is a key piece of information for growers as it determines the market price of the yield. This has been traditionally assessed by destructive chemical methods, which lead to low-spatiotemporal resolution in the monitorization of crop development and poor responsiveness for growers. These limitations have shifted the focus to remote-sensing, spectroscopy-based approaches. However, most of the research focusing on these approaches has been accomplished with expensive equipment, which is exorbitant for most users. To combat this issue, this work presents a low-cost, hand-held, multispectral device with original hardware specially designed to face the complexity related to in-field use. The proposed device is based on a development board (AS7265x, AMS AG) that has three sensor chips with a spectral response of eighteen channels in a range from 410 to 940 nm. The proposed device was evaluated in a red-grape field experiment. Briefly, it was used to acquire the spectral signature of eighty red-grape samples in the vineyard. Subsequently, the grape samples were analysed using standard chemical methods to generate ground-truth values of ripening status indicators (soluble solid content (SSC) and titratable acidity (TA)). The eighteen pre-process reflectance measurements were used as input for training artificial neural network models to estimate the two target parameters (SSC and TA). The developed estimation models were evaluated through a leave-one-out cross-validation approach obtaining promising results (R2 = 0.70, RMSE = 1.21 for SSC; and R2 = 0.67, RMSE = 0.91 for TA).

Abstract:
For sustainable energy storage devices with long-term endurance, exploring novel electrode materials can be a realistic focus in the areas of robust structures, surface area control, high channel conductivity, and others. A composite of a hierarchical series of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) with In2S3 was synthesized by applying a simple one-step solvothermal method. A SWNT scaffold yields a good conductive pathway, leading to the improved electron transportation and catalytic behaviors. This promotes the robust formation of materials and their enhancement in surface activity and specific capacitance. Herein, the nucleated nanocomposites based on SWNT-mediated In2S3 improve the specific capacitance (1268 F·g−1 at 10 mVs−1) to a remarkable 92.4% of its capacitance even after 10,000 cycles, and furthermore, the robust cocoon-like structure of INS5 (5 mL SWNT doped in In2S3) shows an excellent 97.8% of cyclic retention (10,000 cycles). As a conceptual demonstration of system integration, the as-fabricated symmetric supercapacitor (SSC) device is successfully integrated into the Bluetooth/photoplethysmography (BLE/PPG) module for a wireless sensor network. These findings, through indium sulfides with SWNT scrambling, are expected to contribute to the next-generation solid-state-supercapacitor (SSC)-integrated module in the wireless health monitoring system.

Abstract:
In the construction of heterobimetallic coordination polymers based on dithiocarbamato–carboxylate (DTCC ligands), platinum as a thiophilic metal center can be replaced by the cheaper nickel or palladium. The compounds Zn[Pd(HL)2] and Zn2[M(L)2] (M = Ni, Pd; L = {SSC-N(CH2COO)2}3−) were prepared in a sequential approach starting from K3(L). The products were characterized by IR and NMR spectroscopy, thermal analyses, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The products decompose under nitrogen between 300 and 400 °C. Zn[Pd(HL)2] · 6H2O forms polymeric chains in the solid state, and the Zn2[M(L)2] · 14H2O (M = Ni, Pd) exhibit two-dimensional polymeric structures, each being isotypic with the respective Zn/Pt analogs. While the carboxylate groups in all these products are coordinated to zinc in a κO-monodentate mode, a structural variant of Zn2[Ni(L)2] having κO:κO′-briding carboxylate groups was also obtained. Exchange of the metal sites in the two Ni/Zn compounds was not observed, and these compounds are therefore diamagnetic.

Abstract:
Solid state cultivation (SSC) was carried out to evaluate the feasibility of using coffee husk and spent-ground as substrates for the production of edible mushroom Flammulina under different conditions of moisture and spawn rate. The strain of F. velutipes LPB 01 was adapted for a coffee husk extract medium. Best results were obtained with 25% spawn rate, though there was not much difference when lower spawn rates (10-20%) were used. Ideal moisture content for mycelial growth was 60% and 55% for coffee husk and spent-ground, respectively. With coffee husk as substrate, first fructification occurred after 25 days of inoculation and the biological efficiency reached about 56% with two flushes after 40 days. With spent-ground as substrate, first fructification occurred 21 days after inoculation and the biological efficiency reached about 78% in 40 days. There was decrease in the caffeine and tannins contents (10.2 and 20.4%, respectively) in coffee husk after 40 days. In coffee spent-ground, the tannin contents decreased by 28% after 40 days. These decrease was attributed to the degradation of caffeine or tannins by the culture because these were not adsorbed in the fungal mycelia. Results showed the feasibility of using coffee husk and coffee spent-ground as substrate without any nutritional supplementation for cultivation of edible fungus in SSC. Spent ground appeared better than coffee husk.

Nano-composite electrodes fabricated by introducing nano-sized mixed ionic and electronic conducting (MIEC) catalysts into partially-sintered micro-sized ionic conducting backbones have been used by many researchers to improve the electrochemical performance, and/or reduce the operating temperature, of Solid Oxide Cells (SOCs).1 Unfortunately, these infiltrated electrodes have often possessed poor electrochemical performance stability.2 This presentation will review recent results showing how pre-infiltrated ceria nano-particles3 or atomic layer deposited zirconia overcoats4 can be used as on-board Sr getters to increase the long-term stability of La0.6Sr0.4Co0.8Fe0.2O3-x (LSCF)-infiltrated Ce0.9Gd0.1O1.95-x (GDC) SOC electrodes, without compromising initial performance. This talk will also present results showing that when combined, these surface modification techniques result in LSCF-GDC performance degradation rates that are no better than those obtained from each technique used separately. Lastly, this talk will present GDC pre-infiltration results supporting a newly-emerging consensus that Sr does not surface segregate in Sm0.5Sr0.5CoO3-x (SSC) like it does in LSCF. References D. Abstract:
Introduction. The process of municipal solid waste (further MSW) generation is inextricably linked with the life of humanity. Every day each person generates some, a small amount of garbage. As a result millions of tons of MSW are generated daily in the world which are unsuitable for further use and require disposal. There are various ways of handling MSW including their treatment, recycling and disposal. In Russian Federation the vast majority of MSW are currently located on the specially equipped facilities –– waste landfills. To date the most common waste management strategy remains their placement in a landfill. Waste landfills are arrays of stored waste and are special engineering structures designed for the safe isolation of their contents from the environment. Landfill includes gas exhaust and leachate drainage systems, liner and cover systems. The main component of this structure is waste itself. Mechanical stability of landfills should be provided at all stages of waste storage as well as after it complete filling to designed capacity and at post-closure stage. As the result of deformation of unstable waste, all landfill systems can be destroyed up to the collapse of garbage array leading to the significant environmental and other consequences. One of the most common problems leading to the various incidents at landfills is an incorrect assessment of their stability. MSW landfill is a complex multiphase system in which various interacting processes occur simultaneously. The main factor in the calculation and design of landfills is the forecast of their settlements. Studies by many authors have established that biological decomposition has a significant impact on the properties of MSW after which the waste is considered as the landfill soil with a particle size of up to 20 mm. Materials and methods. The paper presents the methodology and the results of numerical modeling of stress-strain state of the designed object “Waste Landfill”. The facility is an array of municipal solid waste of 38 meters high. Waste is stacked in the layers of 1.75 m thick. Each waste layer is covered by the loam cover of 0.25 m thick. Stress-strain state of municipal solid waste including biological creep was modelled using well-known “Soft-Soil-Creep model” (SSC-model). Results. The results of numerical simulation of stress-strain state of the waste pile at all stages of the filling and in the post-closure period are presented. An assessment of the increase in the capacity of the landfill due to the compaction and biological creep has been performed. Stability analysis of the landfill and potential failure mechanisms at different stages of filling and operation are presented. Conclusions. Numerical modeling of stress-strain state of the MSW array using the “Soft-Soil-Creep model” allows to analyze the stability of the waste pile at any stage of landfill filling and evaluate the increase in landfill capacity due to the waste settlement taking into account the mechanical creep and biocompression during layer-by-layer filling.

Abstract:
Cultivation of specialty mushrooms on lignocellulosic wastes represents one of the most economic and cost-effective organic recycling processes. Solid-state cultivation (SSC) was carried out to evaluate the feasibility of using coffee waste (husk and parchment) as substrate for cultivation of oyster mushroom (Pleurotus species). The periods for spawn running, pinhead and fruit body formation, number of flushes, yield, and biological efficiency of the four Pleurotus species (P. citrinopileatus, P. eryngii, P. ostreatus, and P. sapidus) grown on coffee husk and parchment were studied. The results revealed that the time for the first appearance of pinhead was shortest for P. ostreatus (20–21) days followed by P. sapidus (22–23) days on coffee husks, while P. eryngii and P. citrinopileatus required 26–27 days and 23–24 days, respectively, on the some substrate. All the four Pleurotus species recorded at least four flushes and three flushes on coffee husk and parchment, respectively; flush 1 gave the highest yield while flush 3 and 4 gave the lowest yield. The biological efficiency (B.E.) for P. citrinopileatus, P. eryngii, P. ostreatus and P. sapidus obtained from fresh coffee husk was 26.54, 40.94, 60.33, and 55.72, respectively. Significant differences ( P < 0.05 ) in yield and % B.E. of the four mushrooms species were recorded. The results also showed that the B.E. (61.92%) of P. ostreatus grown on composted coffee husk was insignificantly higher ( P < 0.05 ) than that grown on noncomposted coffee husk (60.33). The yields of P. sapidus obtained from the two substrates were almost comparable with that of P. ostreatus. There was a significant difference at ( P < 0.05 ) observed between noncomposted and composted coffee husk and coffee parchment as well as between coffee husk and coffee parchment on yield and biological efficiency (B.E.). Composted coffee waste is more efficient than noncomposted one. Pectinase enzymes productions by these mushrooms were also studied. They are known to produce extracellular enzymes, particularly pectinase, which contribute to the biochemical decomposition of pectin-rich lignocellulosic wastes biomass. Accordingly, P. sapidus showed more pectolytic activities followed by P. ostreatus. But the pectolytic activity showed by P. eryngii and P. citrinopileatus was relatively lower. The implications of this study are the feasibility of using composted coffee husks and coffee parchment with the supplementary substrate to cultivate very protein-rich mushrooms for food in solid-state cultivation (SSC) while at the same time promoting environmental sustainability.

Abstract:
The most important impurity in the heavy liquid metal coolant (HLMC) is dissolved oxygen. When the dissolved oxygen is entered into the coolant the oxide films is formatted on the surfaces of structural steels and equipment. The films provide the corrosion resistance of the surfaces against influence of the coolant. The state of the protective films during operation is largely determined by the oxygen regime, i. e. a concentration of dissolved oxygen in the coolant. So-called natural deoxidation of the coolant, which is spontaneous reduction of the dissolved oxygen content, is characteristic of hermetic non-isothermal circulation circuits with HLMC due to the thermodynamic features of "HLMC-impurity-structural steel" system. As a result, the oxygen concentration decrease and it can achieve the levels, in which corrosion and erosion processes start. To maintain the oxygen concentration on the level for ensuring of corrosion resistance of the steels the control the oxygen concentration and regulated feed of the coolant with dissolved oxygen is necessary. To control the oxygen concentration, the sensors of oxygen activity are used. The sensors are based on a solid oxide electrolyte and developed in the SSC RF - IPPE. The most perspective method to inject the dissolved oxygen into the coolant is solid phase method. It is based on dissolution of solid-phase lead oxide in the coolant flow. The technical realization of the solid-phase method of maintaining the oxygen concentration is carried out with the help of mass exchangers. At the stage of designing the mass exchanger, it is necessary to calculate the main technical parameters of its operation; one of this is oxygen productivity. During the operation of mass exchanger its productivity will change on account of oxygen resource decreasing. It is important for practice to estimate the change of the mass exchanger productivity and the resource of its operation. In the report our approach of estimating the change of mass exchanger productivity on account of oxygen resource decreasing is presented.

Abstract:
Abstract Abstract 1297 Poster Board I-319 Introduction Several diagnostic criteria for disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) have been proposed by Colman RW et al, Japanese Ministry Health and Welfare (JMHW) and International Society of Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH) etc. The efficacy of treatment in relation to the DIC score when the treatment was begun showed that greater efficacy was achieved in pre-DIC than in DIC patients, suggesting that early diagnosis and early treatment are important. Then, the diagnostic criteria for non-overt DIC was proposed by ISTH/SSC subcommittee in order to diagnose of early phase DIC but it was still not established. In this study, modified non-overt DIC diagnostic criteria using molecular hemostatic markers and antithrombin (AT) has been prospectively evaluated. Total 613 patients suspected to be associated with DIC in nine institutes were registered in this prospective study for DIC diagnostic criteria from January 1, 2005 to December 31, 2008. There were 219 patients with infectious disease, 142 with solid cancer, 115 with hematopoietic tumor, 29 with aneurysm, 10 with obstetrics disease, 23 with trauma, 5 with liver disease, 70 with other disease. Materials and Methods Overt-DIC or non-overt DIC was diagnosed by modified overt-DIC diagnostic criteria or modified non-overt DIC diagnostic criteria using abnormalities or changes of platelet count, prothrombin time (PT), fibrinogen, fibrin and fibrinogen degradation products (FDP), AT, soluble fibrin monomer complex (SFMC), D-dimer and thrombin-AT complex (TAT). Pre-DIC was considered the state within a week before onset of DIC. Measurement of PT, fibrinogen, platelet count, FDP were carried out in each institutes based on numerous previous reports. TAT, SFMC, D-dimer and AT activity were measured in SRL Inc. TAT was measured by enzyme immunoassay (EIA) using. SFMC and D-dimer were measured by latex immune agglutination test using T-test, respectively. AT activity was measured by heparin cofactor activity. Results Frequency of overt-DIC was 29.5 % in 613 patients suspected to be associated with DIC, and the highest frequency of overt-DIC was observed in the patients with obstetrics disease or liver disease. Pre-DIC state was detected in 44 of 613 patients (7.2 %) and the highest frequency of pre-DIC was observed in the patients with hematopoetic tumor (12.2 %). Frequency of non-overt DIC in the patients with overt-DIC, with pre-DIC or without overt-DIC was 97.8 %, 97.7 % or 17.0%, respectively. The mortality of 28 days was the highest in the patients with overt DIC (37.6%), and it was also high in those with non-overt DIC (32.9%) and with pre-DIC (27.3%) in comparison to the patients without overt DIC (15.2%) and those without non-overt DIC (13.8%). Discussion Modified non-overt DIC diagnostic criteria is more sensitive for DIC than overt DIC diagnostic criteria and is related to the outcome. Non overt DIC diagnostic criteria might be able not only to diagnose DIC but also to predict early phase of DIC. Disclosures No relevant conflicts of interest to declare.
