Faranguis, Habibi. "L'identité des femmes iraniènes dans la société en transition." Paris 8, 1989. http://www.theses.fr/1990PA080426.
Full textTHE SUBJECT OF THIS THESIS IS TO EXPLAIN IDENTITARY STATE OF WOMEN IN THE IRANIAN SOCIETY INVOLVED IN A PROCESS OF ECONOMICAL AND CULTURAL TRANSFORMATIONS; THIS PROCESS WHILE PRESENTING MOMENTS OF RUPTURE AND CRISIS, IS NOT ASSIMILATED WITH THE SAME RHYTHM BY THE DIFFERENT STATAS OF THE POPULATION. IT IS IN A SUCH SITUATION OF CRISIS THAT THE PROBLEM OF IDENTITY IS SET AND THAT THE NOSTALGIA OG A "TERRITORIALITY" OF IDENTITYCOAST WITH THE DESIR OF ESCAPE TOWARDS UNEPLORED HORIZONS. THE PROBLEMATIC OF IDENTITY BEEING SET AT THE BORDER OF THE SELF AND THE OTHER, THE POINT IS TO RECOGNIZE THE SELF IN ITE EVERY DEMONSTRATION AND AMONG ALL ITS WITHHOLDERS. IN A SOCIETY SRUK BY AUTHORITARISM IT IS THE LAW OF THE FATHER WHICH DELIMITS THE OUTLINES OF THE SELF AND REJECTS ALL WHICH IS NOT COMPRISED IN IT. THE POSITION OF WOMEN WITH REGARD TO THE CODE OF THE FATHER AND THE DELICATE DISTANCE THEY SHOULD SET BETWEEN THEMSELVES AND THIS CODE IS THE QUESTION OF THIS WORK. IT IS A research MADE INTO A COME AND GO BETWEEN THE FORMER AND THE RECENT IDEOLOGICAL INHERITANCE AND THE ACTUALITY OF WOMEN'S LIFE. IT TRIES TO BRING IN LIGHT ELEMENTS OF STRUCTURE OF THE IDENTITY AND THOSE RISING FROM HISTORICAL CONJONCTURE OF IDENTITARY STATE. AT THE ISSUE OF THIS WORK IT APPEARS THAT THE FEELING OF VALUE CONSTITUES THE NODAL POINT OF IDENTITY OF IRANIAN WOMER. .

Full textSince the late 80s, changes in rural areas, a periurbanization and metropolization process have been generated by agrarian reforms, economic transition policies, easier population movement, private business approval, new land use regulations and urbanization development. Hanoi's extension is characterized by the decline of land availability, enlargement of urban limits, and international investments. This "reformist" movement is the driving force of periurban farming that reflects new socio-economic and political issues. The return to household's economy enables a variety of production systems and an improvement of family income. Increase of the demand for consumer goods and new urban living standards are leading to a development of an agricultural belt. Low public investments, and vagueness of the regulatory framework set an open range for private networks. While the State calls for private economic sector participation in order to develop agro-industries and marketing channels, decollectivization and the restructuring of cooperatives haven't erased communal structures. Socio-economic differentiation leads to a greater awareness among farmers in terms of land speculation or commercial and employment opportunities trough strategies of multi-activities. Besides the land use problems, the competition between urban and agricultural activities also raises new issues related to environmental degradation and socio-economic reconversion of the rural population. Initiating by field surveys, we extricate the specificity of suburban spaces and their path within urban insertion through these strategies leading to the apparition of new landscapes

Full textThe aim of this thesis is to trace Salonican Sabbatians during the second half of the nineteenth century. Economic, social and cultural life of Sabbatian individuals is analysed in the context of a port city, Salonica, which lived through economic, social, urban, demographic and administratif transformations. It analyzes the participation of Sabbatian individuals to these changes, as subject and objects, by concentrating on the role the Sabbatians have in these transformations and the impact of these changes on the Sabbatians’ lives at the end of the nineteenth century in Salonica. It highlights the plurality of economic, social and cultural lives of Sabbatians living at the same time and the ruptures and the continuities in three Sabbatian generations, from the middle of the nineteenth to the first decennie of the twentieth century. Through this examination, this thesis analyzes also the complex relations that the Sabbatians maintain with the other Salonicans and the city of Salonica. It seeks to answer the following questions : Can we talk about a « Sabbatian community » ? What do we understand exactly when we refer to the Sabbatian community ? Does this belonging determine their identity or are there other identities which count more in their eyes and allow them to form themselves as individuals ?

Full textThis thesis analyzes the political and social function of football in Francoist Spain and during the democratic transition, focusing particularly on two clubs: Real Madrid and FC Barcelona. One is considered the best ambassador of Spain abroad. And the other is an instrument for the mobilization of the democratic opposition, and above all a hub for ethno-social identity related claims at that time. A study about football may at first seem to not to belong within the scientific approach. Yet, beyond sport and entertainment, football is a social phenomenon, the analysis of which is essential to the understanding of contemporary societies. It deserves attention, especially when one is interested in the history of Spain, which is extremely revealing of the socio-cultural and political stakes that football has in this country

Full textThis doctoral thesis studies the role of "think tanks" in the process of transition and democratisation in Bulgaria after the end of the cold war in 1989. It is a pionneer research on these new political and social actors expanding their practices and discourse not only in Eastern, but also in Western Europe, thus contributing to the deep transformation of the institutions of modernity, in the political as well as in the academic field. This study analyses both the local process and historical conditions that gave birth to this new elite, close to the academic and intellectual field as well as to the NGO sector, but also situates the Bulgarian think tanks in the context of the globalisation process and its international networks of democracy makers. Thus, the thesis contritbutes to sharpen and widen the recent research in anthroplogy and political science on international poject culture, civil society and interaction between the local and the global

Full textThe valleys of Cize and Baïgorry belong to Basse-Navarre (North Basque Country). This study has begun by the search for documentation. Social and pastoral systems had been built in 3 stages. During the 1st one, from the XIIIth c. To the end of the XVth c. , large pastoral spaces are made up, being stakes for various actors. The 2nd stage is during the XVIth and the XVIIth c. : the frontier between France and Spain changes the pastoral spaces. This period is distinguished by the writing of pastoral agreements and the begin of a social mutation. In the XVIIIth c. , new categories of houses become differenciated by their rights in the pastoral spaces. In spite of variable situations, all the studied period is characterized by the struggle of the predominant houses to the preservation of the traditional social and pastoral system. The last part relates the mecanisms of transitions wich end up at the construction of the landscapes and the territories

Full textOne of the major issues facing our industrialized societies is the energy transition, which induces major industrial and social transformations. Port and harbor areas, which are strategic places concerning import and transformation of fossil fuels, concentrate these industrial challenges, dealing with mitigation of emissions of greenhouse gases and diversification of energy mix. By mobilizing the theoretical frameworks of industrial ecology and complexity, this PhD work aims to better understand and characterize current adaptation process developed within these territories. In this work, we consider the industrial, urban and agricultural subsystems present in a port area. When doing this, the port area is proving to be a formidable field of experimentation of new practices based on greater cooperation between players at the crossroads between a global circular economy and a local industrial ecology. Starting from an international feedback which enabled the identification of different territorial organization models, this research then compared the socio-ecological evolution of three European and Asian port areas. If the dynamics of metropolisation seem to appear as a constant in most of these large coastal areas, it also contributes to the whole complexity of the port territorial matrix. Indeed, new organizational approaches now complement technological developments. In the third part, the study of the port area of Marseille-Fos has enabled to highlight a phenomenon of functional interactions operated within the territory for the benefit of its gradual transition to a low-carbon society

Full textSince 1979, the beginning of deng xiaoping's reforms has generated the rehabilitation of advertising. The development of the advertising industry is so important that the phenomena has reached society on all levels : the advertisers discovering the marketing process, the consumers becoming fond of commercials and the advertising agencies becoming widely recognised as world advertising networks. Chinese television suffers the trade effects and is confronted with the irregular system of the telecommunication networks, and (neo) television programmes appear on national channels aswells as on the commercial channels wich started broadcasting in 1992. So, the advertising discourses - about commercials - became one vehicle of the "dengist" thought ideological discourses. Controled in an institutionnel framework, the advertising development is characterized by the same particularities as the "chinese transition", and must be considered as a general problematic of the communication's emergence. Indicative of the reorganization of the social structure, the communicationnal phenomena appears more particularly throught the maintenance of the new relations between state, media and citizens-viewers, became consumers-targets. So, the thesis asks the question of the role of crisis communication emergencing in china, governing the "dengist" reforms success

Full textBusiness is an ambiguous idea of freedom, it is as much a vehicule of progress as a risk. The current ecological crisis is leading enterprises to take into account the effects of economic activity on society and environment. Pressured by new social standards, enterprises are led to change their conduct, especially through a societal and environmental responsibility approach. Then, it is the commercial company – the legal entity of the enterprise, not defined by french law – that is questioned in its definition and its social function. This is reflected in the recent reform of the french commercial company contract to consider social and environmental issues. It’s mainly the adoption of voluntary commitments that contributes to a change in the commercial company through the elaboration by private law persons of soft-law, i.e. norms devoid of coercion. As a post-modern law phenomenom, voluntary commitments lead the company to raise its standard behaviour to a higher degree of responsibility than de lege lata law, may succeed to the engagement of its legal liability. Also, the development of the social and solidarity economy’s corporate forms and the emergence of enterprises inspired by foreign models are a first breach in the classical commercial company approach. Noting the inadequacy of CSR and the corporate forms of responsible commercial companies to really take into account environmental issues, it is proposed to conceptualize a « sober enterprise ». A reflection on sobriety, an emerging legal concept, is carried out on the basis of the terminology already present in the legislation. The juridical definition of sobriety and more precisely, what constitutes sober behaviour, must make it possible to provide support for the integration of the environment into the enterprise. Or for the judge, to characterize the legal standard of sober behaviour. Instruments for characterizing sober behaviour are considered through a review of the elements of the commercial company contract (associate, contribution, profit, social purpose and social interest). These developments are raised in a dynamic of change of the the commercial company and should highlight the need to define the enterprise : both on its social function and to reach to satisfy common interests

Full textThe sixties and the seventies of the twentieth century have witnessed a condensation of three movements intrinsic to modernity. These years crystallized a philosophical moment of critics towards the Western metaphysics, a scientific moment of redescription of physical reality, and a socio-political moment of cultural transition and value change about the development pattern. The postmodern phenomena is rooted in this context, it is even a product of it. What are the political perspectives of such permeation? The Postmodern embodied a crisis that undermines the great narratives of knowledge but also the great narrative of human emancipation and progress. The political crises indeed coincide with the scientific and intellectual crises. With the Postmodern, disappear and collapse in Western Societies the ideologies on which men believed they were making history. Between Liberalism and Socialism, postmodernism draws an interesting ideological feature we describe and discuss. Our research consists in mapping, on the one hand, the epistemological, philosophical and metaphysical changes, and on the other hand, the social and political changes, that lie at the heart of the notion of postmodernity, or “postmodern transition”. After having underlined the scientific pragmatic, we attempt to broaden the postmodern analysis in the political field by deconstructing the modern politics, its foundations and its governance practices, that we define as homogenization and negation, and through a reflection on the construction of a postmodern politics defined as differentiation and affirmation
Kuiters, Willem G. J. "Les Britanniques au Bengale, 1756-1773 : une société en transition vue à travers la biographie d'un rebelle : William Bolts (1739-1808)." Paris, EHESS, 1998. http://www.theses.fr/1998EHES0021.
Full textThis thesis describes the development in the nature and circumstances of british presence in india between the defeat of siraj-ud-daula at plassey and the regulating act of 1773. During this period, the english east india company was faced with an enormous growth of its administrational responsibilities caused by the acts of its proper servants in bengal over whom they could exercise but a limited control. This growth of administrational responsibilities provoked a growth of the number of servants in bengal and thus of the british community at calcutta. The company's administrational structures were rapidly overtaken by the circumstances and the company's bengal government experienced great difficulties in restraining its subjects. The author proposes an inside view of this evolution by following the career of william bolts. The first four chapters describe the company itself and the role and activities of its servants in bengal. The next seven chapters follow the career of william bolts paying particular attention to his private trade, which was at the origin of his collisions with the company's bengal executive. Three chapters are dedicated to the judicial actions bolts subsequently brings before the courts of justice in britain against his former superiors. The chapters also describe bolts' public attack on the company in publishing his considerations on india affairs, provoking the outrage of the metropolitan public. The last chapter pays attention to the particular criticisms bolts utters at the company's address and describes the solutions he proposes to repair the damage done and to put british government of india on a sound basis. These two themes are compared to the motives the british government had to interfere in the company's affairs in 1772 and to the measures that resulted from this interference as formulated in the regulating act of 1773. William bolts has been the first to "popularise" indian affairs and to place the subject at the heart of public attention and popular debate. He was the man who furnished the british with that most widespread of metaphors to describe the country they were to govern for more than two centuries: "the richest jewel in the british crown"

Full textIn the wake of the Consumer Culture Theory (C. C. T), this thesis focuses on the consumer culture of a country in transition to a market economy, Vietnam. It examines the practices of daily consumption, and how they have changed during Vietnam’s transition to the market economy. The researcher also studied these practices on acculturation of Vietnam with China and France in a diachronic approach. The context of Vietnamese society before « DOI MOI » in 1986 is recalled in general and the household consumption in particular (the practices of « shopping », objects, TET, etc. ). In a qualitative and interpretative perspective, the author began this research field to households in Hanoi capital and in Hoabinh province (a mountainous province of Vietnam, located in the nation’s Northwest region). Within this framework, narratives of consumption (memories of the period of subsidized economy), in-depth interviews, observations and photos were mobilized as tools for collecting data. The results of this research, such as disclosed, highlight changes in the culture of Vietnamese consumption what reflect the society’s increasing dependence on the market, how this dependence impacts on the practice of consumers, and the resulting implications for public policy and business retail. Changes in the meaning, practice and structure of daily consumption are examined. These changes echo shifts in the national economy, social values, social relations, and gender roles in Vietnamese society during the transition. The major findings show that consumption practices of Vietnamese households are reflections of results of social change in the context of globalization, the cultural understandings of food safety

Full textIn 2010, the president of the Renault-Nissan announces $ 4 billion in a program to develop electric vehicle and its battery. At that time, the automotive industry is facing a major economic crisis. The success of this engagement is crucial. The electric vehicle is the subject of an innovative design that destabilizes business practices. New protocols should be defined to validate the performance of that product. Given the elimination of emissions during operation, new questions emerge and require a comprehensive assessment of the environmental performance of these vehicles. Therefore, the company must set up a transparent dialogue and manage contested. This work is based in an industrial world, the situation is suitable for intervention. The method of abduction - deduction - induction is used. Collective action is not obvious and needs to be managed. Co-LCA model is designed to facilitate collaboration and building a set of key rules to carry out the study. These rules are still questionable. However, this approach can give more legitimacy to the study. This experience has strengthened the company's practices; it allows many discussions with stakeholders in a structured framework. This process is a platform for knowledge sharing, open discussion and dissemination of information. Finally, we open the way for the LCA tool becomes an instrument for environmental management at the service of a transition in the automotive sector
Pingitore, Gavin Viviane. "Charles Dickens, un auteur de transition à la croisée du gothique et du policier." Thesis, Bordeaux 3, 2018. http://www.theses.fr/2018BOR30051/document.
Full textIn order to investigate the transition from the Gothic genre to the detective fiction in Charles Dickens's works, our study will first concentrate on the Victorian social context that led to the collision of two literary genres, the Gothic and the detective fiction. We will define Dickensian Gothic. Actually, Dickens stages a twofold familiar universe. One universe belongs to the past – a real world that is well known to the readers. The second universe shows an insertion in literary history of an intertextual fabric – described as typical and easily shared by his readers. We will then deal with the effects of this violent collision upon the characters' memories and will define the expression of trauma in Dickens's fiction. Trauma primarily rests upon identity confusion. It originates from a sense of failure of identity belonging together with a sense of loss of society bearings that Dickens's characters experience and thought to be immutable. Finally, we will show how Gothic and Detective fictions interact in Dickens's fiction. We will analyse the societal elements that explain this almost against nature meeting for we could assume that the rational explanation that comes at the end of the detective novel should solve the Gothic tensions. But in fact, the solving of the inquests doesn't free the fiction from a Gothic aftermath. We will then study the transfer of powers from lawyers to detective police officers. This transfer of powers is noticeable both in Victorian society and the Dickensian text. We will then conclude with the persistence of Gothic in Dickens's fiction that makes detective police officers some sort of antiquarians of a new genre

Full textThe distinctive feature of television, emblematic of the mass media from the 5O’s, is that it provides large amounts of mass information quickly to a wide ranging ,mixed audience. Television today still has certain : mass media features but with the advent of digitalisation it now also offers a number of elements in terms of choice or practices specific to the new technologies. They offer the consumer the transition from receiving uniformized broadcasting to individualized television scheduling. These new characteristics have led me to examine the various aspects of this evolution, and to question the new relationship between television and viewers, particularly the durability of what might be called “television culture”. The selective exposure to television messages resulting from choice the use of the new technological tools involved and the coming together of old and new media among others, might indeed determine new televisual practices which are tending to become individualized and increasingly technical. The development of this “cybertelevision” may well lead, among other things to diminishing the function of acculturation among a wide audience, and therefore diverge from the notion of mass media

Full textIt is widely acknowledged nowadays that proficiency in foreign languages is increasingly important for the development of exchanges and openness to the world. Any country that disregards this general trend will be marginalized, and Libya is no exception to the rule. Though lying at a strategic geographical location, this country, following the Arab conquest, has retained no lasting imprint of the presence of the many foreign languages and cultures it has known throughout its history. These foreign cultures, which were generally imposed, have nevertheless had sometimes adverse consequences on the representations and attitudes towards the Other. Thus, after some positive initiatives under the monarchy (1951-1969), the policy of the state, in a display of nationalism and anticolonialism during the dictatorship, considered that the issue of foreign languages was a ground where some easy political 'victories' could be won. Advocating a reappropriation of Arabic and an Arab-Muslim culture, the regime developed, to the point of caricature, an exclusively monolingual and monocultural approach. These issues have received very little attention from researchers, whether Western or Libyan. The starting-point for the present research is the current situation of the teaching of French in Libya. Personal experience as a student and then as a teacher at the Language Faculty of the University of Tripoli gave a first glimpse of the adverse effects of the many structural weaknesses of the system on learners’ motivation and skills level. After first describing the general and academic situation in order to contextualize the study, this research examines the language and training policies developed by Libya since its independence and compares them with the requirements of modernity, in the hope that stability will be restored to the country. This research is complemented by a field survey conducted among Libyan teachers and students of French, which aims to gain insight into their assessment of the current state of affairs, their expectations and needs. This two-pronged approach leads me to put forward a certain number of proposals for rebuilding teacher training in French as a Foreign Language, and more generally in foreign languages, taking their social functions into account, in particular the broadening of cultural horizons

Full textIn France as in Switzerland, local authorities stand out as leading players of energy transition, a transition that requires an important renewal of public intervention instruments. It is the stakes and the conditions of such a renewal that the present work aims to examine, based on the experiments of territorial energy planning led on the franco-valdo-genevan cross-border territory. Conceived as initiatives of relocation of the energy supply system, these energy planning initiatives are examined through an institutionalist and pragmatic « reading template ».This « reading template » consists of seeing these energy planning initiatives as pragmatist inquiries aiming, through a collective work of cognitive equipment of the territorial franco-valdo-genevan field of intervention, at the reconstruction of the means of coordination between people about their material, organizational and political territory. It opens towards a double reading of the energy planning initiatives. The first one concentrates on the organizational dimension of these inquiries - i.e. on the cultures of action which they gather and the modalities of interaction between them - whereas the second focuses on the cognitive substance which represents the medium of the interactions. This double reading provides insights at various levels. The first one concerns the (cognitive) territorial field of intervention that these energy-planning experiments contribute to draw. A field which, although better and better characterized in its technical dimensions, remains at the same time limited and " deformed " so that it values more the fossil energy systems, from which we want to release ourselves, than the renewable ones, which we would like to replace them with. The second level of teaching concerns the processes of production of territorial knowledge (PPTK) which presides over the demarcation and « equipment » of the territorial field of intervention. Examined through the institutional norms and the culture of action at stake in them, this PPTK turns out to create a sociocognitive "cross-border" area, the kind of area that could shelter the desired reconfigurations…on the condition that they are beforehand correctly “equipped”, in cognitive and also in organizational terms. The determining factor for the quality of this equipment is concentrated in the third category of teaching. Starting with the opportunities created by these energy planning experiments concerning the renewal of public intervention instruments, these elements also allow us to take a new look at the urban area project under construction in this cross-border territory, a project that shows itself closely linked to the energy experiments through a common challenge of territorialisation

Full textThe audiovisual media play an important role in building the rule of law in countries in political transition, through their role as a watchdog, and through their role in promoting democratic debate and in monitoring most important element of democracy, which is free and fair elections. However, the media can play a negative role that threatens state stability and destabilizes the regime if exploited to achieve narrow personal and partisan interests. In Libya, since the fall of the regime, there has been a rapid and massive change in the field of audiovisual media. However, the absence of legal legislation regulating the media and the absence of an independent regulatory body have made the Libyan media scene a chaotic one characterized by political, regional and even tribal polarization. This thesis attempts to analyze the audiovisual media scene and to relate it to the political and media history of Libya from before independence to the present day. We also try, through this thesis, to know the role that media regulation can play in promoting democracy and the rule of law, extrapolating some theories and opinions of those interested in this field, and by extrapolating the post-revolution Tunisian experience in the field of media regulation

Full textBorn at the same time as the “30 years of China’s Reform and Opening" political discourse, Rock music in China (Yaogun) at its outset is often understood as an ideological weapon with a somewhat “revolutionary” touch to it against the Communist orthodox principles. This is mainly due to some values known as part of the Rock Myth, such as individual freedom, social equality and democracy. However, since the 1980s, there has been a significant transformation in the People's Republic of China (PRC): the shift to a free-market economy and the opening of the country to outside influence have led to the resurgence of a relevant social and cultural diversity. In the meantime, the new ideologies, technologies and mode of economy unavoidably brought about the commodification of the so-called “Chinese Culture” as part of the modern Chinese “Nation-State” construction, both at the level of the authority’s cultural policy and of the collective social imaginary, including the commodification of the so-called “Chinese Rock” or Yaogun. After one decade of development in the 1990s, generally speaking, China’s Rock or “underground” turned out to stay away from politics. It became hip, professionally organized, commercial and partly moving “overground” (not about revolution, but about everyday life). Similarly to other forms of art and cultural production in contemporary China, Rock also engaged in a complex and creative relationship with the PRC’s revolutionary heritage. From the late 1980s onwards, Yaogun has developed from being a rebelling voice in opposition to the ideology of the Chinese authorities to representing a subject of commodification by different agencies in sharing the same signs of the PRC’s revolutionary heritage. This dissertation attempts to shed some light on the complexities and contradictions involved in the tremendous social and cultural transformations of post-socialist China through the rock music scene. It brings into play the sociology of Rock music, Cultural Studies, together with the production and spreading of the culture and ideology of contemporary Chinese society

Oral enquiry and scrutiny of archives (land registry, chamber of commerce and industry, registry of births, marriages and deaths) have allowed to reconstruct the end of a society based on sharecropping (mezzadria), and the rise of an industrial area on the previously irrigated fields. This low hills rural society was characterised, before its extinction, by a scarcely mechanised agriculture and relied on an inexhaustible source of peasants from the upper apennines. Its description stresses the structural elements which turned out to be the preliminary conditions to the establishment of the industrial district and its subsequent rapid and widespread development. As the local structures collapsed, after having withstood all kinds of proto-industrialisation for centuries, they suddenly released huge potentials under the form of land, labour, and - to a lesser extent - capitals. The analysis of the sales of plots for the factories to be built pointed out a complex situation in which the contributions of the small farm owners (some had already given up farming) and those of the rentiers, who owned larger estates farmed by sharecroppers and resented the establishment of any kind of industry, were very intricate. The geographic and social origins of the first shareholders and entrepreneurs are dedocumented accurately, in most cases the initial groups shrank, supplanted by few skilled managers. The transformation of the workplaces, the negociations with the trade unions and the evolution of concrete wages, in addition to the impressions of a few workers, showed that the efficiency of the ceramic tile district is no more the result of low cost labour

Full textThis Ph. D. Thesis is framed with an interdisciplinary perspective where critical sociology and social history converge with gender sociology and history. It first focuses on a critical review of literature on East-European post communist societies and the theme of gender. The political construction of feminity under Romanian communism is afterwards abalyzed on the basis of some previously unpublished archives, secondary data and published autobiographical documents, in order to build a socio-historical analysis of contemporary groups promoting normative feminine images and discourses : political activists, NGOs, feminine press. The manipulation and the political instrumentalisation of the femnity representations as object of ideological and symbolical struggles in the post communist "transition" let me conclude on breaches and continuities in relation to the historical communist background

Full textThis thesis is both critical and pragmatic. A criticism of Mali’s recent history read in the light of the tools provided by the legal analysis, sociology and anthropology of law. This critical intent led to examine the history of Mali’s origins in a genetic perspective that has been detailed in the prolegomena. Pragmatic, the thesis puts forward proposals related to the concrete situation of Mali, along the lines of a deregulation of consciences and the re-introduction of constitutive standards into the Malian Republic. The language analysis proved valuable in meeting these two requirements. They also enabled to identify some shortcomings in legal dogma generally more anxious to graft prefabricated concepts onto African realities, rather than capture these realities with their nuances as close as possible. It therefore seemed appropriate to analyze the strategies of ordinary actors of the Malian political society. The consideration of the concepts handled by these latter accounts for the use of indigenous languages. The first part of the thesis is devoted to the analysis of Mali’s chaotic development in the aftermath of the relinquishment of the fathers’ project of independence under the double pressure of economic constraints and cultural determinants. The second part draws the relevant consequences from the point of view of constitutional theory. Thus, the thesis concludes with the proposal for reform of the system of African Unity based, upon as all the above, Bambara language’s saying : “Sleeping on the mat of others is like sleeping on the floor

Full textThis thesis, rooted in urban anthropology and urban practices, focuses particularly on the process democratic participation in urban development projects. Indeed, urban development leads to significant consequences throughout the city's territory, causing tensions and repercussions both on the environment and on local social dynamics. The public school, as an architectural element and public facility dedicated to cultural education and the transmission of scientifically validated knowledge, is inevitably affected by these projects, themselves influenced by contemporary urban planning norms. My professional and personal experiences, rooted in the school context, enabled me to engage in urban renewal projects from 2010 to 2015. I conducted an ethnographic investigation into specific participation scenarios in the neighborhoods of Armação in Florianópolis, Brazil, and Carnot-Parmentier in Saint-Fons, in the metropolis of Lyon, and carried out an analysis of territorial development projects. In a reflexive approach and within a research-action perspective, I engaged in pedagogical initiatives that, through a multi-situated comparative study, enabled me to follow different actors in urban policy, residents, school professionals, and students. I analyzed institutional dynamics as well as the processes experienced by social actors involved in urban changes, while examining my own trajectory and commitment. Despite the emergence of democratic participation in our societies, I have observed that in the studied projects, this practice remains marginal. I have observed that this practice remains marginal in our societies, and that experiences lived, perceived, and conceived influenced by memory, by politico-administrative processes, as well as by sciences are scarcely considered in this participatory process. Participatory school experiences observed on the ground have been perceived as relational emancipatory practices, both individual and collective. Schools, influenced by epistemological and methodological elements, can become crucial local actors in the transgenerational construction of responses to challenges related to gentrification, the environment, development, as well as culture and urban social policies. However, educational and territorial public policies, influenced by political-administrative and scientific processes, appear to be very poorly connected. In this sense, considering the systemic aspect of participatory experience is of increasing importance for the sustainable development of cities and the promotion of the integral fulfillment of citizens

Full textIn spite of measures aiming to reduce the environmental impact of agriculture, changes in farming practices remain modest while societal concerns continue to rise. The environmental mission assigned to agriculture is complex and subject to interpretation. The growing number of diverse stakeholders turning their attention to farming increases the demands placed on agriculture. In this context, the goal of this thesis is first, to understand how a diversity of agricultural and non-agricultural stakeholders involve themselves in transition processes towards more environmentally-soundagriculture and second, to understand the effect of their involvement on farmers practices. To achieve this, I relied on a pragmatic approach wich highlights "frictions", as well as "holdfasts" used by stakeholders and makes it possible to give a faithful account of their interpretations and experience of transition processes. Based on a socio-historical analysis and three case-studies from the Paris region, I characterized, first, the conditions of the emergence of movements promoting change in agriculture practices, second, the enrollment processes throught wich the issue of transition makes sense and, third, the changes in terms of both agricultural practices and forms of governance of those changes as well. The study shows that transition processes emerge as the result of adjustements between diverse stakeholders embedded in different communities. This analysis suggests the emergence of a "territoire-based contribution" model of change, where a diversity of stakeholders contributes by their discourse and actions to the ecologization of agriculture in their territoire

Full textFrom the concept of territorial energy system (TES), defined as a coupling between a territorial system and an energy system, and after that the actual situation and different possibilities of energy transition being examined, we model the energy transition of the Reunion electrical system, with a multi-agent model developed under the Anylogic platform. In this model, the power plants and the substation HV/MV, localized in IRIS and connected with the electricity network, form the exchange interface between the two subsystems coupled. The dynamic of the model is based on two levels of nested temporalities. Interaction between territorial dynamics and energy dynamics is achieved through hourly simulation of resources (solar, wind, hydraulic) and demand (load curves), based on hourly observations (weather data, data of load curves, etc. ), and calibrated with the statistics of production and consumption of the reference year. Scenarios are structured by assumptions about the demand and production, and are with a time horizon of decades and an annual granularity. They allow to understand the effect of different combinations of parameters (threshold of saturation of PV, storage, PV coverage, demand, etc. ), to get insights on how the energy system can evolve. This could be used to provide aids to policies decisions according to objectives (reducing greenhouse gas emissions, control of prices of energy, development of renewable. . . )

Full textThe present thesis aims to examine Spain’s contemporary History with a fine-tooth comb thanks to Lourdes Ortiz’ novels production. This author became known because of her first novel Luz de la Memoria published in 1976, in which she paints her generation’s portrait and attempted to redeem the memory of the coming Transition victims, through hidden truths yet to be unearthed. With this in mind, this PhD dissertation endeavours to study three novels exhaustively, Luz de la memoria (1976), La Fuente de la vida (1995) and Andrés (1971) - the latter being unpublished – while approaching literature, history, society and politics at the same time. Through different historiographies, publications dedicated to the writer, private archives and commentaries from the author herself, this study aims to analyse what would be the ideological positioning of this former Spanish Communist Party activist, compared to the historical events she went through. In parallel, this work is about to apprehend how the formal orientations she is using in her novels would tempt the reader to reconsider the dominant thinking. This thesis intends to bring this committed writer to light, whose lucid and clear-sighted political criticism offers another view to the contemporary History stakes

The early 90s impulse globalization and satellite technologies’ acquisition by Arab countries seems to be the beginning of a new era in this region where combined financial profitability, political influence and ideological actors. TV Channels rolling news and continuously broadcast information are the appropriate model that reflects this scheme in a region politically, economically and culturally so complex and mostly complicated. It is the advent of the Arab TV channel Al Jazeera and its Afghanistan war coverage in 2001 and thereafter the Iraq war in 2003 that have shaped a huge proportion of Arab public opinion. Other TV channels of the same kind are multiplied and diversified in a record time, such as Al Arabiya, Al Manar, ONTV, Al Mayadeen, etc. Arabic audience is also coveted by Western Arabic TV channels financed by western countries and their governments, such as the U.S. channel Al Hurra, French once 24 French, British one BBC Arabic or the German one DW. The study focuses on the role of the TV channels specialized on news in r evolutions known and continuously know at present the Middle East region. What is the degree of their commitment to broadcasting and anchoring universal values and democratic practices? What is the degree of influence may reveal changes in the Arab societies? The purpose of this research is to understand how the advent of TV Channels rolling news, set goals, and identify actors in order to recognize the consequences over the media plans and geopolitical perspectives
