Full textThe purpose of this work of development is to provide a proposal on how teachers can engage and motivate more students to strive to achieve the goals in Swedish and history in high school. Based on previous research, various theorists, the curriculum of primary education in 2011 and the new curriculum for Swedish history and form a development that is based on a thematic approach in which literature is central to the theme and where teaching materials are replaced with various diverse elements that movie, museum visits, guest speakers, etc. The theme is called revolutions of the era and deals with 1700 - 1800 with a focus on French Revolution, ideologies and the social currents that result from it. Students work in groups and with three individual tasks. Theme work spans six weeks and a total of 30 hours. The issues were the subject of the essay is: How can you work educationally to get more students interested, engaged and make them feel included in order to seek to achieve the goals? How can we as teachers work pedagogically to have more time with their students? How can one based on different learning theories to create a larger context and give a greater motivation for students in their teaching?

Full textThe Swedish citizen spends about 40 hours a week on his work, which affects health, both mentally, physically and socially. Despite the awareness that exists today about the psychosocial work environment, it is still a problem area. The Swedish Work Environment Authority released a regulation on organizational and social work environment in 2016 to reduce the risk of workers being exposed to an unhealthy working environment. Although the regulation is new, which creates an interest in how the individual employee experiences an organizational and social work environment. The aim of the study is to highlight experiences from an employee perspective on organizational and social work environment. The theoretical frame of reference is a combination of pedagogy and health whereas theories used are community of practice, holistic perspective, the health cross and salutogenic perspective. The study is qualitative where the material has been collected through three focus group interviews with a total of 14 employees, where the material has been analyzed through qualitative content analysis. The study is based on a constructivist approach to looking at knowledge to highlight the employees' experiences, where conclusions are drawn with abductive thinking. The result revealed three categories. Visible work but invisible employees where employees expressed low priority and adaptation requirements. Openness for a healthy working environment that showed that community affects well-being as well as the importance of communication for trust. Finally, a chance of recovery that revealed access to temporary work-force as well the possibility to take breaks during the day. Based on the results, it can be concluded that employees want the opportunity for a work environment that supports learning, development and well-being. Another conclusion is the possibility of recovery and that efforts from a salutogenic perspective can contribute to well-being and a sustainable psychosocial work environment.

Full textThe context of this project is Community Outreach Ministry in Riverside, California, interviewing six families caught in the cycle of incarceration. The problem was no stories addressing the children's needs by the children of incarcerated parents existed in the literature. The objective included apprehending and analyzing fifteen stories in eight weeks. The hypothesis accepted the children's stories as a research tool informing interventions for breaking the cycle of incarceration. A qualitative research narrative case study was implemented. The findings tested that the qualitative insights from the stories informed the model and resources as effective interventions to break the cycle of incarceration.

Full textFrom a general interest aspect the study looks into how a child´s upbringing has been affected by growing up in an alcohol abusive environment. We discovered that it is today a taboo subject that needs to be highlighted and talked about. Our choice of topic was therefore how adult children have been affected by growing up in an addictive environment. The purpose of our study is to highlight and analyse how adults have been affected by growing up in an addictive environment and to discuss how their experiences can have formed them and also had an impact on their lives today. The study is a narrative research based on three life story. We have used an interview template so that the aim of the study and questions should be answered. The three respondents in the study have been requested and have given their consent to participation. The results were analyzed and linked to our base theory - attachment theory. The result that became clear in our study is that a childs upbringing is greatly affected by alcohol addiction. It emerged in our study that respondents mostly took a back seat and had to take a lot of responsibility in the family. They described that the addiction was usually kept secret. Our result also showed that every respondent hade some form of recreational activity and also a person they felt safe with during childhood. It also showed that the respondents have been affected by their upbringing in positive and negative ways. Their experiences have strengthened them.

Full textThe purpose of the study is to enlighten media's representation of women though a discourse analytical perspective. The material consists of articles concerning beauty, body and health in three exemplars of the magazine Amelia combined with photos on the magazines' front pages. All front pages show styled, smiling women showing how a woman can, or should, look like, which is followed up inside the magazine where the reader gets suggestions on choice of actions to reach the same (self) image. The results are connected to social pedagogy, the arena of social work which concerns human growth, relations, communication and faith in the individual as capable to choose and relate to explicit and implicit norms in society. The norms are based on patterns of power which can be related to perception of and attitudes towards the participation of individuals in society. Thin in turn is based on how divergent choices regarding beauty, body and health are punished. The study therefore emphasizes awareness regarding the importance of individuals' possibilities to emancipation. The results strengthens the through that women today, through media, are exposed to a continuous stress on relating to the medial picture of woman, a picture which she herself through choices and actions contributes to maintain.

Full textThe social media center is a platform where most of the young people are online a considerable time of their freetime. The new arena to socialize has many advantages, such as containing and exploring the social life. At the same time there are benefits with the huge activity on the internet. There are also plenty of risks such as sleep disorders, internet addiction and internet violations. The purpose of the study is to examine the youth's perception of what kind of violations there are on the social media center and how they may be prevented and inhibited. The study has a qualitative approach where our results and analysis are based on three semistructured life-world interviews in form of focus groups. The young people of the study attend a secondary school in a smaller town in southern Sweden and are anonymous in the study. We have used the symbolic interactionism as a theoretical reference framework, where the "definition of the situation", "social interaction", "symbols" and "emphasis on activity" are our theoretical concepts. The results of our study show that offensive images and offensive comments about the sexual orientation, political opinion and appearance are the most common violations of social media. It has been shown to be a hard climate on social media and that violations can be seen openly, especially in social media where users can be anonymous. The young participants of the study believe that one of several ways to prevent these violations are through better understanding and continuous discussion among adults and teenagers.

Full textPå den svenska arbetsmarknaden är det allt mer vanligt att medarbetare med kontorsbaserade yrken själva får utforma när, var och hur arbetet ska utföras. Den flexibiliteten medför att gränserna mellan arbete och privatliv suddas ut och arbetet kan därmed beskrivas som gränslöst. Syftet med studien var att undersöka och analysera gränslöst arbete ur ett medarbetarperspektiv. Studien utgick från frågeställningar som berör medarbetares erfarenheter av gränslöst arbete, dess möjligheter och utmaningar samt hur det påverkar balansen mellan arbete och fritid. En kvalitativ ansats med semistrukturerade intervjuer som datainsamlingsmetod användes bland medarbetare inom olika branscher på den svenska arbetsmarknaden. Studiens resultat visade på en rad olika möjligheter och utmaningar med gränslösa arbetsförhållanden. Det flexibla arbetssättet visade sig bland annat underlätta för de med familjeansvar, inte minst för ensamstående föräldrar. Det gränslösa arbetssättet visade sig också främja möjligheten till återhämtning och ökat välmående, men riskerade även att resultera i negativa följder såsom upplevd stress. Välmåendet och den upplevda balansen mellan arbete och privatliv, även kallat work-life balance, påverkades av arbetskrav, graden av kontroll och arbetslivserfarenhet. Därför har det varit av stor vikt att medarbetarna har stöd och får vägledning att hitta fungerande strategier för att kunna dra en gräns mellan arbete och privatliv.

Full textTiivistelmä Tutkimuksessa tarkastellaan epävakaassa kasvuympäristössä ja perhekriisin olosuhteissa kasvaneiden lastensuojelulasten arkeen ja elämänkulkuun vaikuttaneita tekijöitä Bronfenbrennerin ekologista teoriaa hyväksi käyttäen. Tulosten tulkinnassa ja johtopäätösten tekemisessä hyödynnettiin sosiaalipedagogiikan teoriaa. Tutkimuksen tuloksia ja johtopäätelmiä tarkasteltiin myös lastensuojelulain valossa. Tutkimuksen metodologisten ja metodisten valintojen lähtökohtana on ollut lastensuojelulapsina kasvaneiden nuorten kokemusten tutkiminen. Haastatteluaineiston lisäksi käytetään asiakirja-aineistoa. Tutkimuksen lähestymistapa on laadullinen tapaustutkimus. Tutkimukselle asetettiin kaksi tutkimustehtävää. Ensimmäinen tutkimustehtävä kohdistuu mikrotasolla nuorten lapsuuden arjen kokemuksiin perheestä, vanhemmista ja muusta lähiympäristöstä. Toinen tutkimustehtävä kohdistuu nuorten meso-, ekso- ja makrotason välillisiin kokemuksiin lastensuojelun sosiaalityön tukitoimista. Molempiin tutkimustehtäviin etsittiin vastausta teemoittelun avulla. Teemat on asetettu Bronfenbrennerin ekologisen teorian mikro-, meso-, ekso- ja makrotasojen kentässä erilasiin konteksteihin ja lastensuojelulain käsitteistöön. Tutkimusaineisto kerättiin vuosina 2004 ja 2005. Tutkimuksessa tuli esille, että vanhempia oli tuettu runsaasti erilaisin lastensuojelun avohuollossa käytössä olevin preventiivisin tukimuodoin. Tästä huolimatta nuorten elämä lapsena perheissä oli epävakaata ja perheet hajosivat. Vanhempien kasvatusvastuu ja kyky huolehtia lapsistaan eivät toteutuneet lastensuojelulain määrittämällä tavalla. Tutkimuksessa tuli esille lastensuojelulapsen aseman heikkous kahden instituution välissä. Sosiaalityön toimintakäytännöissä vähälle huomiolle jäi, että lapsilla on asemansa puolesta oikeus itseään ja perhettään koskevaan tietoon sekä mielipiteen esittämiseen. Sosiaalitoimen järjestämät yhteydenpidot nuoriin lastensuojeluprosessin aikana olivat vähäisiä. Lastensuojelun toimijoilla ei ollut tietoa siitä, miten lapsi koki lastensuojelun tukitoimet. Sosiaalityön toimintakäytännöissä jäi nuorten kokemana heikoksi lastensuojelulain määrittämä lapsen kasvun tukeminen ja auttaminen arjen elämässä epävakaassa kasvuympäristössä. Sosiaalityössä ei näyttänyt olevan keinoja lähestyä lasta yksilönä eikä lasta ja vanhempia yhdessä kokonaisvaltaisesti perhekohtaisessa lastensuojelussa

Full textToday's schools, including its staff, are obligated to offer adjusted teaching for all students’ abilities and needs. The purpose of this study is to look into four elementary schools, considering their current environment for students with autistic spectrum disorder (ASD). It is also to investigate if there is a call for social workers to be present in elementary schools. The study was qualitative in its character and interviews with four teachers were performed. In this way, information on teachers’ thoughts and experiences of the schools’ offered support to students with ASD could be accessed. Based on a sociocultural perspective, Thomas J Scheff’s theory on social bonds and Paulo Freire’s concept of empowerment the interviews were then processed and analyzed. The results of the study indicated that elementary school teachers experience themselves as not having sufficient knowledge on how to support students with ASD.

Full textStudien har undersökt hur lärare på tre lokalintegrerade skolor - en gymnasiesärskola och två yrkesgymnasieskolor - definierar våld. Definitionerna har kopplats till om skolorna tenderar uppvisa ett arbetsmiljöperspektiv eller ett brottsperspektiv, och hur perspektiven tar sig uttryck. Perspektiven är en av teorierna som ligger till grund för studien tillsammans med Nils Christies Det ideala offret och Ron Akers Differentiell förstärkning. Intervjuer har genomförts med tre lärare från yrkesgymnasierna och fyra från gymnasiesärskolan, därefter har transkriberingarna analyserats med en innehållsanalytisk ansats. Sammantaget visar resultaten att alla lärare, i sina definieringar av våld, innefattar fysiskt våld. De flesta innefattar även psykiskt våld. Vilka specifika handlingar som ingår i våldsbegreppen skiljer sig åt, däremot fann vi att hur man “väljer” vilka handlingar som ska tolkas som våld stämmer överens mellan de tre skolorna. “Valet” verkar ske utifrån en kombination av organisationens förväntningar på läraren och i vilken utsträckning handlingen kan tolkas som “det ideala brottet”.

Full textStadsdelsmammor 2.0 in Helsingborg provides education for immigrant women. The education leads to women being assigned as neighbourhood mothers in a residential area. The purpose of this study was to explore the promotion of participants’ health through education and how the neighbourhood mothers build and maintain social networks. The study is based on a salutogenic approach and uses ”Sense of Coherence” (SOC) as a model for analysis together with transformative and lifelong learning. The study’s empirical data is based on individual interviews of a semi-structured nature based on SOC. The results of the 11 interviews were analyzed on the basis of a qualitative content analysis. From a health educational perspective, it was made clear that diplomacy for neighbourhood mothers gives increased legitimacy and strengthens the neighbourhood mothers’ position in society and role as a guide to life. The education makes it possible for the women who want to be a guide to life for others. In addition, education leads to transformative and personal development. Partly through new knowledge and experience, partly through access to the social support given by the educational network. The neighbourhood mothers also experience positive feelings about the education as well as subsequent assignments. The social networks in the residential area can be created and consist through the presence of the neighbourhood mother, dissemination of information and the public’s knowledge of the neighbourhood mother. The social networks exist on different levels; social bonds, social bridges and social links.

Full textEvery year a number of deaf and hard-of-hearing (DHH) students change school settings during their years in compulsory school. Why the decision is being made and how the students themselves experience the transition are questions that have not been asked when researching school placement for DHH students. This study aims to contribute with knowledge about DHH students' experiences in changing from an auditory oriented school setting (compulsory school) to a visually oriented school setting (compulsory special needs school for deaf and hard-of-hearing students). The thematic analysis is informed by Schlossberg's (1981;2011) transition model, which is a model that can be applied to any form of change or transition whether expected or unexpected. The change in school settings can be seen as a move from one linguistic and cultural context to another, and the students' experiences have been divided into three themes; moving out, moving in and making oneself at home. The interviews point to different sorts of experiences which show that this group of students is vastly diverse, although with some significant similarities. The change in school setting has had an effect on their identity work and the students describe it as feeling at home, being the same as the others and as a sense of belonging with other DHH students in the visually oriented school setting. The result shows that the students have gone from seeing sign language as a tool that can facilitate communication to recognizing it as a language that is a part of them and their social and cultural identity. As stated above there has been a positive effect on the students’ work on their identities and they feel included instead of marginalized. For DHH students to develop a positive rather than a marginal social identity, the students need access to visually oriented settings.
