Abstract TLS, and SSL before it, has long supported the option for clients to authenticate to servers using their own certificates, but this capability has not been widely used. However, with the development of its Push Notification Service, Apple has deployed this technology on millions of devices for the first time. Wachs et al. [42] determined iOS client certificates could be used by passive network adversaries to track individual devices across the internet. Subsequently, Apple has patched their software to fix this vulnerability. We show these countermeasures are not effective by demonstrating three novel active attacks against TLS Client Certificate Authentication that are successful despite the defenses. Additionally, we show these attacks work against all known instances of TLS Client Certificate Authentication, including smart cards like those widely deployed by the Estonian government as part of their Digital ID program. Our attacks include in-path man-in-the-middle versions as well as a more powerful on-path attack that can be carried out without full network control.

Abstract:
The life style of an Indian family if evolving, particularly in the urban environment. Everyone in the family is perpetually busy, from the head of the family to possibly the youngest member of the family. As a result, essential works related to kitchen gas in the home gets neglected. Individuals for the most part know that gas can be death-defying. In any case, furthermost individuals still go out on a limb that can prompt damage. The greater part of these cases appears to be accustomed, so suggestions to utilize gas securely are continually required. This project aims at presenting a gas leakage detection kit to systematically detect the gas leakage and stop the gas leakage in sensitive locations by closing the gas cylinder valve automatically to ensure of further no leakage. Here specific gas sensor has been utilized which has high reactiveness for propane (C3H8) and butane(C4H10). Gas spillage system comprises of GSM (Global System for Mobile correspondences) module, which cautions the client by sending SMS. Additionally, an automated kitchen gas booking is also done in this project when the LPG goes empty. An innovative Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) based solution is used to avoid the usage of domestic cylinders in commercial sectors by automatic valve closing of cylinders and thus cutting off the gas supply.

Abstract:
For reduction of gateway bottleneck effect, data access cost, and response delay, many cooperative caching schemes are available. But in all the existing schemes, whenever any data is newly cached or any data is evicted, the information needs to be broadcast to all the mesh access points (MAPs). As a result, communication cost increases. In this chapter, a cluster and sub-cluster-based cooperative caching scheme is designed to minimize the communication cost. Clusters and sub-clusters are formed by taking advantage of the static position of Mesh routers. Cluster-heads (CHs) are selected using minimum spanning tree and minimum weighted vertex cover algorithm. Then the clusters and sub-clusters are formed. CHs and other Maps keep different cache information tables, and based on those, cache decision is taken. Client mobility is also considered. The performance of the proposed scheme and some other existing schemes have been compared. It has been observed that in the proposed scheme, communication cost in terms of number of messages is reduced.

Abstract:
M-commerce applications have evolved out of e-commerce applications, riding on the rapid advancement in mobile communication technologies in the past decade. The diffusion of applications on the Internet into the mobile computing environment has taken an accelerating pace ever since. Virtually all e-commerce and m-commerce applications rely on the provision of information retrieval and processing capability. In this regard, database systems serve as the information source and repository for these applications, backed by efficient indexing mechanism. Bean (2003) gave a good report on supporting Web-based e-commerce with XML, which could be easily extended to m-commerce. An m-commerce framework, based on JINI/XML and a workflow engine, was also defined by Shih and Shim (2002). Customers can receive m-commerce services through the use of mobile devices, such as pocket PCs, PDAs, or even smart phones. These mobile devices together with their users are often modeled as mobile clients. Central to supporting m-commerce applications are three types of entities: mobile device, mobile communication, and database. In particular, we are more interested in providing efficient access mechanisms to mobile-client-enabled database servers, which are often called mobile databases. Mobile databases contain the core information to support the underlying m-commerce applications, while the use of mobile devices serves for the hardware platform, with mobile communication providing the necessary connection between mobile databases and mobile devices for interfacing with real users or customers.

Abstract:
Advancement of technology brings advantages to human race to certain extent. Unfortunately, some of the technological inventions not only brings advantages, but also disadvantages. One of the disadvantages is the pollution of carbon emission in the environment from the non renewal energy resources. Therefore, to prevent pollution from getting worse, the environmental-friendly aspect is suggested to be included in new inventions nowadays. Thanks to the invention of solar panel, solar energy is able to become a renewable energy source that can be applied to various applications. Considering the increase of electricity consumption every year in Malaysia, solar powered street lighting system is proposed in order to reduce the burning of fossil fuels to generate electricity, hence reducing air pollution. The proposed street lighting is companied with automatic switching mechanism to further reduce the electricity consumption of street lights. The system will also be able to provide energy measurement to determine the efficiency of street light. Security features like motion detection and camera module interfaced to the street light for surveillance monitoring in a residential area to overcome intruders and crime such as theft. Theft is now major issue in Malaysia and in many developing and developed countries. The news reported that many people lost their belongings due snatch theft and averagely 16 people go missing every day. Overall design of the solar powered street lighting systems with the security features will help people live in green and protected environment. The implementations of client server connection and Remote Method Invocation (RMI) in wireless network system ease the monitoring process of the entire street lights in a residential area for giving continuous service to the community and environment.

Abstract:
In this paper a Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) based voting system is presented. This electronic voting technology allows disabled users to cast their vote from home by using common well-known devices. The needed equipment are a TV set, a Set Top Box (STB) with its remote control and a telephone line. The complete infrastructure consists of an MHP (Multimedia Home Platform) application that acts as a client application, a server application that acts as a network/counting server for e-voting, and a security protocol based on asymmetric key encryption to ensure authentication and secrecy of the vote. The MHP application is broadcasted by a certified (e.g., national) TV channel that grants its originality. The user needs a smart card issued by a national authority and to sign the encrypted ballot. The voter can browse the application by acting on the STB remote control. The server application is in charge to verify user identity, to gather and store user’s encrypted ballots and finally to count votes. The communication between the client application and the server takes place by means of a secured channel (using HTTPS) while the voting operations are secured with the help of asymmetric keys encryption.

Abstract:
The convergence of big data and artificial intelligence, namely big data intelligence, seems inevitable at an epoch just as the automation of smart decision making becomes the future digital disruptor. Every industry will be confronted with the same Darwinian pressure of excellence and adaptation, and must conjointly be supported by the major stakeholder, the ultimate client. Authenticated by the hypothesis that big data intelligence has the potential of Darwinian disruption, the objective of this chapter was to identify the most recent worldwide research trends in the field of big data intelligence and its most relevant research areas. A social network analysis tool was employed to interpret the interrelationship between generated keywords and key phrases. The resulting taxonomy of published peer-reviewed scientific papers was bibliographically analyzed. This investigation permitted all manner of social and business interests underpinned by this technology to understand what to embrace, what to ignore, and how to adapt.

Abstract:
In the framework of the PALETTE European research project, the Swiss federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL) is designing and experimenting with eLogbook, a Web-based collaborative environment designed for communities of practice. It enables users to manage joint activities, share related assets and get contextual awareness. In addition to the original Web-based access, an email-based eLogbook interface is developed. The purpose of this lightweight interface is twofold. First, it eases eLogbook access when using smart phones or PDA. Second, it eases eLogbook acceptance for community members hesitating to learn an additional Web environment. Thanks to the proposed interface, members of a community can benefit from the ease of use of an email client combined with the power of an activity and asset management system without burden. The Web-based eLogbook access can be kept for supporting further community evolutions, when participation becomes more regular and activities become more complex. This chapter presents the motivation, the design and the incentives of the emailbased eLogbook interface.

Abstract:
Abstract Real-time location information is essential in the hazardous process and construction areas for safety and emergency management, security, search and rescue, and even productivity tracking. It's also crucial during pandemics such as the COVID-19 pandemic for contact tracing to isolate those who came to the proximity of infected individuals. While global positioning systems (GPS), can address the demand for location awareness in outdoor environments, another accurate location estimation technology for indoor environments where GPS doesn't perform well is required. This paper presents the development and deployment of an end-to-end cost-effective real-time personnel location system suitable for both indoor and outdoor hazardous and safe areas. It leverages on facility wireless communication systems, wearable technologies such as smart helmets and wearable tags, and machine learning. Personnel carries the client device which collects location-related information and sends it to the localization algorithm in the cloud. When the personnel moves, the tracking dashboard shows client location in real-time. The proposed localization algorithm relies on wireless signal fingerprinting and machine learning algorithms to estimate the location. The machine learning algorithm is a mix of clustering and classification that was designed to scale well with bigger target areas and is suitable for cloud deployment. The system was tested in both office and industrial process environments using consumer-grade handphones and intrinsically safe wearable devices. It achieved an average distance error of less than 2 meters in 3D space.
