Abstract:
Hepatocellular carcinoma is today the sixth leading cause of cancer-related death worldwide, despite the decreased incidence of chronic hepatitis infections. This is due to the increased diffusion of metabolic diseases such as the metabolic syndrome, diabetes, obesity, and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). The current protein kinase inhibitor therapies in HCC are very aggressive and not curative. From this perspective, a shift in strategy toward metabolic therapies may represent a promising option. Here, we review current knowledge on metabolic dysregulation in HCC and therapeutic approaches targeting metabolic pathways. We also propose a multi-target metabolic approach as a possible new option in HCC pharmacology.

Abstract:
Sixth-generation wireless (6G) technology has been focused on in the wireless research community. Global coverage, massive spectrum usage, complex new applications, and strong security are among the new paradigms introduced by 6G. However, realizing such features may require computation capabilities transcending those of present (classical) computers. Large technology companies are already exploring quantum computers, which could be adopted as potential technological enablers for 6G. This is a promising avenue to explore because quantum computers exploit the properties of quantum states to perform certain computations significantly faster than classical computers. This paper focuses on routing optimization in wireless mesh networks using quantum computers, explicitly applying the quantum approximate optimization algorithm (QAOA). Single-objective and multi-objective examples are presented as robust candidates for the application of quantum machine learning. Moreover, a discussion about quantum supremacy estimation for this problem is provided.

Abstract:
Primary liver cancer is the sixth most prevalent cancer worldwide and ranked in third for cancer-related mortality rate. Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) accounts for about 90% of all primary liver cancers. High vascularization of HCC implies the significance of angiogenesis in the development and pathogenesis of HCC. Several angiogenic pathways have been identified as being dysregulated in HCC, highlighting potential therapeutic targets for the treatment of HCC. In 2007, sorafenib was approved as the standard first-line treatment for advanced HCC, catapulting the therapeutic approach of HCC into the avenue of targeted therapy. In recent years, the approval of several novel targeted drugs and the progress in combination of immunotherapy and targeted therapies provide more alternatives for the treatment of HCC. The progress of anti-angiogenesis therapies in HCC over the past few decades is reviewed and the future prospect of anti-angiogenesis therapy for HCC is also discussed.

Abstract:
Anime Adapting (and Complementing) High Literature. The Suffering of “The Lady from the Sixth Avenue” Abstract: Japanese animation, although gradually, divests itself of its negative connotation. Authors like Hayao Miyazaki have upgraded Anime beyond many prejudices, and some of their works even achieve a psychological and artistic profundity aside from “live” films/movies. This is the case of Gisaburo Sugii and Osamu Dezaki, two authors that, adapting Genji Monogatari respectively, have achieved a broad and complete vision of a vital character to understand the ghostly thing in Japanese culture: Rokujō no Miyasudokoro.

Abstract:
The constituent year effect, a source of relative age disparities, in masters sport has been demonstrated mainly amongst North American samples. Thus, the purpose of this study was to examine whether a participation-related constituent year effect exists among athletes (n = 6492) competing in Australian Masters Athletics competitions between 2000 and 2014. The results indicated that a participation-related constituent year effect was observed as the likelihood of participating was significantly higher for masters athletes in their first and second constituent year of any five-year age category (p < 0.0001) and was lower when they were in the fourth or fifth constituent year. The results also indicated this effect is influenced by gender and age. Specifically, the effect was significant for both male (p < 0.0001) and female (p < 0.001) masters athletes; as well during the third, sixth, seventh, and eighth + decades of life (all ps < 0.001). These data demonstrate that despite masters sport being an avenue for promotion of participation and overall health, there is potential for improving how competitive organizational strategies are implemented given the recurring intermittent patterns of participation associated with five-year age brackets which are likely to compromise benefits.

This thesis examines the controversy surrounding the renaming of a street for Martin Luther King, Jr. in the city of Zephyrhills, Florida in 2003-2004. By paying close attention to the language deployed during a series of contentious city council meetings, the thesis traces how Zephyrhills' divisive history and neoliberal spatial order kept white residents from grappling with the city's legacy of racism, inequality, residential segregation, and the memory of the Civil Rights movement. Ultimately, it reveals Americans' limited capacity to recognize and discuss race in the post-Civil Rights era.

Abstract:
Abstract The cacophony that Monroe H. Rosenfeld of the New York Herald heard on West 28th Street between Sixth Avenue and Broadway reminded him of rattling tin pans. He thus christened the area, which was occupied by sheet-music publishers, as “Tin Pan Alley.” Songs were made popular through minstrel or variety shows, and once they were popular, the sheet music publishers would publish the songs. Composers and performers went to the music publishers to find ways to get the music to the public. This chapter explores the role of Tin Pan Alley, music pluggers, and composers/lyricists in helping to turn these songs into popular songs.

Abstract:
It was Late on a sunny, but bitterly cold mid-February afternoon. Michael Patrick, red-eared from the chill, cast a long shadow across the rough concrete that used to be the Appliance City factory floor. A few months earlier, two-thirds of the expansive ruin had been razed. It was now an extended chinhigh pile of crumbled bricks, broken cinderblocks, mangled rebar, and cornyellow insulation chunks. Patrick, dressed in a corduroy jacket, wool trousers, and a brown wool fedora, remarked that there was little now to stop the bitter Arctic winds that swept through the enormous demolition site. One could see clear through to the Henry C. Hill Correctional Center across the tracks and farther north on Illinois Route 41. The razed portion of the former factory was big enough to fit twenty football fields, side by side. The newest part of the factory was still standing, but vacant. The California-based investment company that owned the property hoped that clearing the “old, antiquated industrial real estate” would make the remaining property more attractive to potential buyers. “When you’re here,” Patrick said, “you think about the people. It was the blood, sweat, and tears of the workers that made this place run. It was ours, you know? We had different owners come and go but we made it run.” He pushed his hands deep into his jacket pockets and shrugged. It was early 2013, and Patrick could mark fifty-four years since he and Bob Dennison, Doug’s father, started packing insulation at Admiral’s Midwest Manufacturing plant on January 26, 1959. Patrick lived alone in a modest brick house on South Pleasant Avenue, just across the BNSF tracks, less than a mile away. The 72-year-old retiree hibernated in the winter, but managed to make each of his granddaughter’s sixth-grade basketball games. When the weather warmed, Patrick took his late model minivan to antique shows, estate sales, and collectors’ conventions. He collected license plates and license plate toppers, die-cast cars, and other trinkets. Earlier that day, over lunch at the Landmark Cafe, we had discussed the wage pressures, retiree obligations, and foreign competition that faced Maytag in the early 2000s.

Abstract:
Among the terms for technology-enhanced education, ‘e-learning' may be an umbrella one to cover various types; on the mobile platform, ‘mobile learning' or ‘m-learning' has gained a solid foothold. A historical review of the development from e-learning to m-learning may help draw a clearer picture of technology-enhanced education in history and in the future. The change of the major medium from computers to smartphones involves not only where learning may occur in the digital age but also how. M-learning shares some similarities with e-learning, for example, enhancing learner autonomy, yet facing the difficulty in assessing efficacy and effectiveness. In the meantime, with advancing mobile technology, m-learning can achieve higher portability and personalisation in three aspects: devices, materials, and learners. How to engage, retain, and motivate mobile learners in the informal and spontaneous settings merit more attention. Solid theoretical underpinnings and empirically validated practice in other disciplines may shed light on the avenues of future research.

Abstract:
This chapter highlights the 28th Street, between Fifth and Sixth Avenues in Manhattan, that became the home of several music publishers. It looks into the various accounts of how 28th Street came to be called “Tin Pan Alley,” pointing out the observation that the pianos played by song “pluggers” produced a cacophony reminiscent of the clatter of tin pans. It also mentions how the name “Tin Pan Alley” was eventually used as a metonym for the American popular-music industry. The chapter explores the pre-eminent role of Jewish composers, poets, songwriters, and performers in the Polish popular music industry of the 1920s and 1930s. It also focuses on Adam Aston, who was credited with popularizing the first Polish rumba, and Mieczysław Fogg, the most popular Polish singer of the twentieth century.

Abstract:
We investigate Constraint Programming and Planning Domain Definition Language-based technologies for planning and scheduling multiple robots in a retirement home environment to assist elderly residents. Our robotics problem and investigation into proposed solution approaches provide a real world application of planning and scheduling, while highlighting the different modeling assumptions required to solve such a problem. This information is valuable to the planning and scheduling community as it provides insight into potential application avenues, in particular for robotics problems. Based on empirical results, we conclude that a constraint-based scheduling approach, specifically a decomposition using constraint programming, provides the most promising results for our application.
