Abstract:
The paper introduces a new software package, MOLPTOL, for sensitivity analysis in multi-objective linear programming. In this application, which is available for free of charge on the web page (https:// sites.google.com/view/molptol), the tolerance approach as a measure of sensitivity is used. The motivation for creating MOLPTOL is the lack of such tools to date. MOLPTOL is novel for multi-criteria decision-making methods based on sensitivity analysis. The paper presents some new computational methods for obtaining the supremal tolerances as well. Keywords: multi-objective linear programming, sensitivity analysis, computer software.

Abstract The momentum of scRNA-seq datasets prompts for simple and powerful tools exploring their meaningful signatures. Here we present Single-Cell_Signature_Explorer (https://sites.google.com/site/fredsoftwares/products/single-cell-signature-explorer), the first method for qualitative and high-throughput scoring of any gene set-based signature at the single cell level and its visualization using t-SNE or UMAP. By scanning datasets for single or combined signatures, it rapidly maps any multi-gene feature, exemplified here with signatures of cell lineages, biological hallmarks and metabolic pathways in large scRNAseq datasets of human PBMC, melanoma, lung cancer and adult testis.

Abstract:
In this paper I describe an interactive Gauss’s law computer simulation using the GlowScript programming environment. The simulation calculates a point charge’s electric field at locations on the surface of a Gaussian cube and displays the electric field in GlowScript’s 3D graphics window. The point charge can be moved, and the electric field visualization will update dynamically. Students can use the simulation controls to record the electric field strength and direction, and then copy and paste the data into a spreadsheet in order to calculate the electric flux through the cube. The simulation can be used as part of a quantitative virtual laboratory to develop a student’s intuition for electric flux and Gauss’s law. The simulation can be accessed at https://sites.google.com/view/gauss/home .

Abstract:
AbstractThe Italian fashion system is represented by a wide and valuable heritage that needs to be properly preserved and experienced by everybody, from fashion students to scholars, artisans and designers, etc. Although in the last decades there have been many attempts to create a museum dedicated specifically to Italian fashion, in the end, institutions or museums have not been able to carry out a valuable and accomplished project. One fundamental reason is represented by the Italian specificities in terms of the fashion-industry evolution and, more in general, by the complexity of the fashion system which has been built and continues to grow at the crossroads between different experiences, practices, and relations. As such, it has been studied from diverse disciplines and approaches ranging from art to design, from economics to sociology of culture, and so on. Moreover, when considering both the intangible and tangible fashion heritage, gathering them in order to preserve and share them becomes extremely difficult. The challenge is therefore to understand how to collect, preserve, and enjoy this heritage, combining the cultural pluralism of local traditions and their products, together with the creativity of artists and designers and the economic aspects of the industry, relating them all with the cultural and social features of everyday life-fashion. The aim of this paper is to address these issues starting from the preliminary reflections of the PNRR project (Piano Nazionale di Ripresa e Resilienza, National Recovery and Resilience Plan) “Cultural heritage active innovation for next-gen sustainable society”, (CHANGES aims at promoting interdisciplinary research and inter-sectorial synergies to support the development of innovative long-term strategies for the interpretation, understanding, conservation, and valorization of tangible and intangible cultural heritage. The extended partnership is composed of 11 Universities, 4 Research Institutions, 3 Advanced Studies Schools, 6 Companies, and 1 Center of Excellence (see https://sites.google.com/uniroma1.it/changes/home).) in order to discuss in detail the Spoke 2, “Creativity and Intangible Heritage” thematic line on fashion preservation and its musealization as developed by the authors of this essay.

Abstract:
The teaching of Chinese as a foreign language can be supported by using AI technology. Traditionally, the non-native learners can only interact with the instructors and depend on them solely for speaking practices. However, with the advancement of AI technology, the learners can use AI technology for interactive speaking skill development. In this study, the learners were instructed to download an application at https://m.wandoujia.com/apps/6790950. The process on the preparation of this AI technology in supporting their speaking skill development can be accessed at https://sites.google.com/site/gohyi141/assignments/projectinteractivespeakingapp. By using this AI technology, the findings showed a tremendous affirmative responses pertaining to the use of this AI technology. Hence, AI technology should be encouraged in active utilization for the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language in particular and for all language speaking skill development in general.

In Twenty-Sixth International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence. California: International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence Organization, 2017. http://dx.doi.org/10.24963/ijcai.2017/360.

Full text
Abstract:
This paper introduces a novel wrapper-based outlier detection framework (WrapperOD) and its instance (HOUR) for identifying outliers in noisy data (i.e., data with noisy features) with strong couplings between outlying behaviors. Existing subspace or feature selection-based methods are significantly challenged by such data, as their search of feature subset(s) is independent of outlier scoring and thus can be misled by noisy features. In contrast, HOUR takes a wrapper approach to iteratively optimize the feature subset selection and outlier scoring using a top-k outlier ranking evaluation measure as its objective function. HOUR learns homophily couplings between outlying behaviors (i.e., abnormal behaviors are not independent - they bond together) in constructing a noise-resilient outlier scoring function to produce a reliable outlier ranking in each iteration. We show that HOUR (i) retains a 2-approximation outlier ranking to the optimal one; and (ii) significantly outperforms five state-of-the-art competitors on 15 real-world data sets with different noise levels in terms of AUC and/or P@n. The source code of HOUR is available at https://sites.google.com/site/gspangsite/sourcecode.

In Thirty-Third International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence {IJCAI-24}. California: International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence Organization, 2024. http://dx.doi.org/10.24963/ijcai.2024/83.

Full text
Abstract:
Face Recognition (FR) systems can suffer from physical (i.e., print photo) and digital (i.e., DeepFake) attacks. However, previous related work rarely considers both situations at the same time. This implies the deployment of multiple models and thus more computational burden. The main reasons for this lack of an integrated model are caused by two factors: (1) The lack of a dataset including both physical and digital attacks which the same ID covers the real face and all attack types; (2) Given the large intra-class variance between these two attacks, it is difficult to learn a compact feature space to detect both attacks simultaneously. To address these issues, we collect a Unified physical-digital Attack dataset, called UniAttackData. The dataset consists of 1,800 participations of 2 and 12 physical and digital attacks, respectively, resulting in a total of 28,706 videos. Then, we propose a Unified Attack Detection framework based on Vision-Language Models (VLMs), namely UniAttackDetection, which includes three main modules: the Teacher-Student Prompts (TSP) module, focused on acquiring unified and specific knowledge respectively; the Unified Knowledge Mining (UKM) module, designed to capture a comprehensive feature space; and the Sample-Level Prompt Interaction (SLPI) module, aimed at grasping sample-level semantics. These three modules seamlessly form a robust unified attack detection framework. Extensive experiments on UniAttackData and three other datasets demonstrate the superiority of our approach for unified face attack detection.
