Abstract:

I Fieschi erano una famiglia aristocratica di estrazione rurale, che traeva l'origine della propria potenza dai possedimenti nel contado e si era insediata a Genova seguendo strategie più o meno coscienti, analizzate nell'articolo per quanto riguarda il trecento. Ciò era avvenuto innanzitutto con l'avvio di un insediamento monumentale presso la collina di Carignano, al di fuori delle mura ma al contempo in stretto rapporto con il centro abitato che sovrastava, quasi come polo urbanistico alternativo. Durante il XIV secolo si può notare una progressiva differenziazione tra una dimensione armata della famiglia, guida della fazione guelfa, e una prettamente ecclesiastica, custode dei patrimoni dinastici cittadini. Partendo dalla constatazione di queste caratteristiche, il saggio tenta di rapportarle e metterle in relazione dialettica con gli altri alberghi cittadini, al fine di evidenziare un modello alternativo di gestione familiare attuato dai Fieschi. È indagata l'importanza della parentela, le modalità di ingresso nel gruppo, le esenzioni fiscali e le politiche matrimoniali, al fine di delineare la mentalità di una famiglia aristocratica signorile inserita in un centro a vocazione mercantile.

Abstract:

This article is the first academic study on the Italian filmmaker Maura Delpero and analyses her fiction film Hogar (Maternal) (2019) and documentaries Signori Professori (‘Professors’) (2008) and Nadea e Sveta (‘Nadea and Sveta’) (2012). The three films are discussed individually and also through a comparative analysis that investigates the modes of filmic representation of the female search for a place in the world, thematic and stylistic recurring elements and dynamics between fiction and non-fiction filmmaking in Delpero’s works. Discussion of Delpero’s films is augmented with the director’s own reflections on her work as expressed in an interview the article author conducted in May 2020.

In this interview, Italian filmmaker Maura Delpero reflects on her career and the filmmaking process for the fiction film Hogar (Maternal) (2019) about teenage motherhood in a Buenos Aires religious centre, as well as on her three documentaries: Moglie e buoi dei paesi tuoi (‘Choose your wife and oxen from your own town’) (2005) about couples from different cultural backgrounds in South Tyrol, Italy; Signori professori (‘Professors’) (2008) about the Italian school system and Nadea e Sveta (‘Nadea and Sveta’) (2012) about female eastern European immigrants in Italy. Delpero discusses the differences and similarities between her non-fiction and fiction films, exploring topics such as the preparatory work, the storyboard, the timeframe, the locations, working with professional and non-professional actors, film techniques and production issues.

Abstract:

L’articolo illustra l’archivio dell’Arca, recentemente riordinato e inventariato.La devozione a s. Antonio da Padova cominciò molto presto, subito dopo la sua morte, avvenuta il 13 giugno 1231. L’anno seguente papa Gregorio IX canonizzò il frate francescano di origine portoghese e così si intensificarono i pellegrinaggi e le offerte dei fedeli. Iniziò la costruzione di una nuova chiesa dedicata al santo, grazie ai finanziamenti del comune cittadino, che si occupò fino al 1310 anche della gestione del denaro offerto per erigere la basilica. In seguito l’amministrazione delle cospicue proprietà immobiliari e del denaro offerti dai devoti fu affidata all’istituzione denominata “Veneranda Arca di s. Antonio” che è attiva e operante tuttora. L’archivio dell’Arca si è conservato quasi inte-gralmente a partire dal XV secolo e documenta non solo le vicende dell’istituzione e della chiesa, ma anche la storia di Padova e del suo territorio, in particolare del paese di Anguillara Veneta, donato nel 1405 dai Carraresi, signori di Padova e rimasta di proprietà dell’Arca fino al 1973.

Il saggio introduce un dossier scritto assieme a Teresa Bernardi, Umberto Signori e Stefano Poggi, che si propone di mettere alla prova la proposta storiografica di Arndt Brendecke e Paola Molino sulle "Culture della Vigilanza". Attraverso l'analisi di tre casi studio (il controllo dei matrimoni nella città di Venezia tra cinque e seicento, l'analisi della produzione delle informazioni dei consoli veneziani a Smirne tra sei e settecento, la riorganizzazione del controllo del territorio nella città di Vicenza in età napoleonica) gli autori del dossier indagano, ognuno nel proprio contesto, l'utilità di passare dal paradigma della sorveglianza all'analisi delle concrete pratiche e culture della vigilanza. Questo saggio introduttivo cerca di tracciare un percorso comune tra i tre interventi, mettendo in luce alcune questioni metodologiche e nodi tematici, e dialogando più in generale con i recenti studi dedicati alla delazione e alla comunicazione tra governanti e governati. In particolare, si sostiene la tesi che per meglio comprendere quale sia la specifica "cultura della vigilanza" di antico regime, sia necessario metterla in connessione con la sua peculiare "cultura del possesso", ovvero l'idea che il potere e la giurisdizione, come qualunque altro diritto, siano definiti nei termini della possessio e dell'effettivo esercizio, piuttosto che in quelli del dominium.

Abstract:

This study compares the performance of two groups on an American Sign Language (ASL) perception task. Twenty-two L1 signers of ASL and twelve sign-naive English speakers watched a filmed lecture in ASL and pressed a response pad to identify "natural breaks" in the signing. Responses from each subject group were analyzed into agreement clusters--time slices of up to 2 seconds in which a substantial percentage of participants identified a boundary. Comparison of the response patterns of signers and non-signers revealed a one-way implication between signer agreement clusters and non-signer agreement clusters. That is, where signers agreed about the location of a boundary, non-signers did as well, but it was not the case that non-signer agreement about a boundary was a predictor that signers would identify the same boundary.

Il continuo mutare di alleanze dei comuni italiani, cosě lontano dai rigidi schemi storiografici che vorrebbero ciascuna cittÀ per sempre ideologicamente schierata, dettato da ragioni di varia natura e in continua evoluzione, dette luogo a esperimenti politici diversi che sintentizzavano gl'interessi delle comunitÀ e degli individui al potere. Tra le soluzioni piů "spregiudicate" sono da registrare i patti di fusione degli organismi comunali, piuttosto frequenti in Piemonte. Uno degli strumenti di realizzazione di queste particolari alleanze fu il reciproco acquisto di una casa in cittÀ per stabilirvi la residenza collettiva del comune: una specie di ambasciata o, meglio, un pegno del valore dell'immobile. Era, in veritÀ, la normale procedura attuata dai comuni nei patti di cittadinatico, con i quali si invitavano le popolazioni rurali e i loro signori a risiedere entro le mura, chiedendo una minima permanenza stabile: se il contraente avesse abbandonato la sua residenza entro la scadenza, avrebbe perso la proprietÀ della casa a favore del comune. Il possesso di case garantiva dunque l'impegno dell'alleanza. Non si trattava, se non raramente, di un luogo di rappresentanza del comune, che vi agě in poche occasioni. Piuttosto, fu un luogo di prestigio che alimentava i buoni rapporti fra le istituzioni che rappresentava. La manutenzione dell'edificio risultava dunque non secondaria e se ne occupava volentieri il comune ospitante a spese di quello ospitato, che generalmente recuperava l'investimento fattovi affittando i locali a qualche concittadino emigrato.

Abstract:

One morning in the middle of May 1558, the chief constable of the Governor of Rome led a detachment of his police to Monte Rotondo, a rural town some twenty miles north of the capital. There was nothing unusual in his mission, which was to capture two outlaws, who, though banished from the papal states for homicide, had returned to live under the shelter of the local lords. Nor was there anything extraordinary in the first response of the villagers, who, caught between their signori on the one hand and the state on the other, did their best to lend the police a very feeble hand. What was more unusual was what happened next, when, half by design and half by mischance, the village rose up in arms against the police and, for much of the day, held them hostage. In this essay, we will study the tangled events of that day, not so much as an example of a rural insurrection as, rather, a handsome illustration of a particular style of negotiation. Thus, settlement as much interests us here as does conflict, for it illustrates well the dense interplay of liberty and constraint. The burden of our exposition is that, to extricate themselves from a perilous impasse, the villagers, their magistrates, and the city's police could all bargain cannily with all sorts of risks, not only their adversaries', but also their own. Not only did they threaten one another, but, to their own profit, they pointed out external dangers and cited the perils they themselves faced.

By cryptanalysis of a strong designated-verifier proxy signature scheme, it is found that this scheme has security leaks: original signer can forge the proxy signers valid proxy signature for any message; not only the designated-verifier but also proxy signer can verify the signature and proxy signer can misuse it. An improvement is given, and the security analysis shows that it can resist the spiteful forgery attacks by original signer and prevent the misuse of proxy signature by proxy signer.

Abstract:

Privacy has become one of the most important human rights of the modern age. In a proxy multi-signature scheme, the verifier need get all the original signers’ public keys together to verify its validity. However, the relationships between the proxy signer and the original signers would be leaked in the verification process. In this paper, we propose a secure proxy multi-signature scheme in standard model with the property of independent verification. In the scheme, the verifier can verify the signature using the public keys of the special original signers, rather than collecting all the original signers’ public keys.
