Abstract:
This thesis documents a procedure for implementing the Revolving Cylinder scheduling algorithm for parallel programs on the ECOS Workstation System (EWS), designed specifically by AT&T for simulation of the Enhanced Modular Signal Processor (EMSP) currently in use by the United States Navy. The Revolving Cylinder (RC) algorithm provides a methodology for forcing First Come First Served (FCFS) schedulers to follow a more systematic utilization of available resources. The methods of implementation used take advantage of the Graphical Editor (gred) to insert additional data dependencies into the program structure. The thesis utilizes applications written in Signal Processing Graph Notation (SPGN), viz., a simple correlator function and the active subroutine of the U.S. Navy Sonobuoy benchmark. Results for standard FCFS scheduling and RC modified scheduling are presented for both. Special attention is paid throughout the thesis to enhancement of manufacturer supplied documentation with regard to implementation of the non-standard RC structures. Impact of the algorithm on throughput and latency is discussed, as well as performance determination using the tools provided with the ECOS Workstation System

Ngô, Van Chan. "Formal verification of a synchronous data-flow compiler : from Signal to C." Phd thesis, Université Rennes 1, 2014. http://tel.archives-ouvertes.fr/tel-01067477.

Abstract:
Synchronous languages such as Signal, Lustre and Esterel are dedicated to designing safety-critical systems. Their compilers are large and complicated programs that may be incorrect in some contexts, which might produce silently bad compiled code when compiling source programs. The bad compiled code can invalidate the safety properties that are guaranteed on the source programs by applying formal methods. Adopting the translation validation approach, this thesis aims at formally proving the correctness of the highly optimizing and industrial Signal compiler. The correctness proof represents both source program and compiled code in a common semantic framework, then formalizes a relation between the source program and its compiled code to express that the semantics of the source program are preserved in the compiled code.

Abstract:
The thesis is paid to design frequency filters steerable jet active elements of the MO–CF (Multiple-Output Current Follower) and also newly-developed current active element DACA (Digitally Adjustable Current Amplifier) in the company ON Semiconductor. The first three chapters focus on basic properties of frequency filters, used components and circuit design methods. The digitally controllable current amplifier DACA is used for managing the radio frequency filters and adjust it using the current amplification parameter A through the digital input CTR. For the design of filters of the second order a method of M-C Signal flow graphs is used. This method is in the work proved very useful and contributed to the modification of already designed frequency filters. The fourth chapter describes the actual detailed design of circuits with quality management, or marginal frequencies to the two parameters. Involvement of the proposed filter is simulated in the OrCAD program for different levels of models of the circuit elements. At the end of each filter design there is a comparison of theoretical and simulated values of the adjustable parameters circuit. The conclusion was one of the districts selected for experimental verification, followed by comparing the measured and simulated transmission characteristics.

Isik, Zerrin. "Network Structure Based Pathway Enrichment System To Analyze Pathway Activities." Phd thesis, METU, 2011. http://etd.lib.metu.edu.tr/upload/12612951/index.pdf.

Full text
Abstract:
Current approaches integrating large scale data and information from a variety of sources to reveal molecular basis of cellular events do not adequately benefit from pathway information. Here, we portray a network structure based pathway enrichment system that fuses and exploits model and data: signalling pathways are taken as the biological models while microarray and ChIP-seq data are the sample input data sources among many other alternatives. Our model- and data-driven hybrid system allows to quantitatively assessing the biological activity of a cyclic pathway and simultaneous enrichment of the significant paths leading to the ultimate cellular response. Signal Transduction Score Flow (SiTSFlow) algorithm is the fundamental constituent of proposed network structure based pathway enrichment system. SiTSFlow algorithm converts each pathway into a cascaded graph and then gene scores are mapped onto the protein nodes. Gene scores are transferred to en route of the pathway to form a final activity score describing behaviour of a specific process in the pathway while enriching of the gene node scores. Because of cyclic pathways, the algorithm runs in an iterative manner and it terminates when the node scores converge. The converged final activity score provides a quantitative measure to assess the biological significance of a process under the given experimental conditions. The conversion of cyclic pathways into cascaded graphs is performed by using a linear time multiple source Breadth First Search Algorithm. Furthermore, proposed network structure based pathway enrichment system works in linear time in terms of nodes and edges of given pathways. In order to explore various biological responses of several processes in a global signalling network, the selected small pathways have been unified based on their common gene and process nodes. The merge algorithm for pathways also runs in linear time in terms of nodes and edges of given pathways. In the experiments, SiTSFlow algorithm proved the convergence behaviour of activity scores for several cyclic pathways and for a global signalling network. The biological results obtained by assessing of experimental data by described network structure based pathway enrichment system were in correlation with the expected cellular behaviour under the given experimental conditions.

Abstract:
This master’s thesis deals with designing of fully-differential current-mode frequency filters using signal-flow graphs method. The first part is focused on a general description of frequency filters, its function and division. Active elements that create these frequency filters, such as multi-output current follower (MO-CF), balanced or multi-output transconductance amplifier (BOTA, MOTA) and digitally adjustace current amplifier (DACA) are described in the following part. Next, problems and various techniques of designing such filters are discussed on a theoretic basis. In the remaining part of the thesis there are six circuits of frequency filters described in detail; these connections are then transferred of passive elements to a proposed connections, with the assistance of a so-called reflection. Calculations of passive form are stated, as well as results of simulations, where nondifferential and differential variations of these designed frequency filters are compared. Finaly, it has been selected some variants of designs, which has been manufactured, then measured out and resulet has been compare between each other.

The dissertation deals with the design of fully differential frequency filters using the signal flow graphs. It presents the procedures for designing frequency filters, focusing on the active elements such as multiple-output current followers (MO-CF) and digitally adjustable current amplifiers (DACA), which work in a current mode. It is theoretically discussed the issue of designing the M-C graphs, which are the graphic analogy of voltage and current incidence matrices. There are also presented three designs of 2nd order frequency filter circuits using the indirect method of design by M-C graphs and one circuit design using the direct method. The results of each simulation and measurement are presented in a module frequency characteristics. Finally, there is a summary of M-C graphs characteristics and applicability.

Abstract:
We present by generators and equations the algebraic theory IH whose free model is the category oflinear subspaces over a field k. Terms of IH are string diagrams which, for different choices of k, expressdifferent kinds of networks and graphical formalisms used by scientists in various fields, such as quantumcircuits, electrical circuits and Petri nets. The equations of IH arise by distributive laws between Hopfalgebras - from which the name interacting Hopf algebras. The characterisation in terms of subspacesallows to think of IH as a string diagrammatic syntax for linear algebra: linear maps, spaces and theirtransformations are all faithfully represented in the graphical language, resulting in an alternative, ofteninsightful perspective on the subject matter. As main application, we use IH to axiomatise a formalsemantics of signal processing circuits, for which we study full abstraction and realisability. Our analysissuggests a reflection about the role of causality in the semantics of computing devices

Abstract:
This doctoral thesis deals with a voltage conveyor as a new active element for an analog signal processing. Various types of the voltage conveyors have been defined as a dual active elements to current conveyors based on a duality principle. Conception of a new active element that can supply all types of the voltage conveyors have been proposed. The active element has been named an universal voltage conveyor – UVC. A voltage follower is a basic building block of the UVC. The well-known circuit realization of the voltage follower comes from four transconductance amplifiers with key parameters (voltage transfer and output resistance) derived from relative accuracy of used transconductance amplifiers has been used by UVC fabrication. A new circuit realization of the voltage follower comes from three transconductance amplifiers with key parameters also derived from relative accuracy of used transconductance amplifiers has been designed. Further the doctoral thesis deals with a frequency filter with the voltage conveyors design using signal flow graphs. Various graphs of the voltage conveyors comes from the various circuit analysis methods with non-regular active elements have been created. A basic graph of the voltage conveyor has been designed with help of a known controlled sources graphs. This graph have been used to design of multifunctional frequency filters, filters with high input and low output impedance and controlled frequency filters. A design procedure have been created so that in specific step of the frequency filter design the basic graph of the voltage conveyor could be extended to graph of any type of the voltage conveyor. Thereby a practical usage of various types of the voltage conveyors has been finding out. Further a new method of frequency filter design based on expanding of the signal flow has beenproposed.

Abstract:
Whether in automotive with heat stress or in aerospace and nuclear field subjected to cosmic, neutron and gamma radiation, the environment can lead to the development of faults in electronicsystems. These faults, which can be transient or permanent, will lead to erroneous results thatare unacceptable in some application contexts. The use of so-called rad-hard components issometimes compromised due to their high costs and supply problems associated with exportrules. This thesis proposes a joint hardware and software approach independent of integrationtechnology for using digital programmable devices in environments that generate faults. Ourapproach includes the definition of a Coarse Grained Reconfigurable Architecture (CGRA) ableto execute entire application code but also all the hardware and software mechanisms to make ittolerant to transient and permanent faults. This is achieved by the combination of redundancyand dynamic reconfiguration of the CGRA based on a library of configurations generated by acomplete conception flow. This implemented flow relies on a flow to map a code represented as aControl and Data Flow Graph (CDFG) on the CGRA architecture by obtaining directly a largenumber of different configurations and allows to exploit the full potential of architecture. This work, which has been validated through experiments with applications in the field ofsignal and image processing, has been the subject of two publications in international conferencesand of two patents

Abstract:
The dissertation thesis deals with the synthesis and design of active frequency filters using current (CC) and voltage (VC) conveyors, or current active elements CMI (Current Mirror and Inverter), MCMI (Multi-output CMI) and PCA (Programmable Current Amplifier). As introduction, these active elements are described as suitable for the design of the circuits working in the voltage-, current,- ,and mixed-mode, or in pure current-mode speaking about the current active elements. The new frequency filter structures presented in this thesis using the above mentioned active elements were designed by the generalized autonomous circuit method, transformation cells and signal flow-graph theory. The generalized autonomous circuit method is based on full admittance network to which generalized active elements are connected. The described admittance networks can be used for other active elements. The next method is based on the transformation cells that subsequently are used for the design of synthetic elements with higher-order imittance. Original conditions for the design of such blocks are given that lead to maximal simplicity of the final structure with minimal number of passive and active elements. For effective usage of another method utilizing signal flow-graphs, new reduced graphs of chosen active elements are given. Their usage leads to direct function blocks synthesis with required properties. The functionality and behavior of chosen circuit solutions have been verified by analyses in simulation programs. The active elements were simulated by the universal current conveyor (UCC) or universal voltage conveyors (UVC) that were designed at the FEEC, BUT in cooperation with AMI Semiconductor Design Centre Brno with the CMOS 0.35 m technology. These active elements have been also used for the realization of chosen filter structures. The experimental measurements were performed in the in the frequency range 10 KHz to 100 MHz.

This master’s thesis is bent on comparison of four newest method of analog frequency filter design. After the introductory part, a description of properties and internal structure of active elements (Second-Generation Current Conveyor), VG-CCII (Variable Gain Current Conveyor), VCG-CCII (Voltage and current gained second generation current conveyor) a CFTA (Current Follower Transconductance Amplifier) is mentioned. This active elements are used in subsequent design. At the next part, process of frequency filters design by generalized method of filter design flowing from the full admittance network, by extending autonomous circuits, design using the signal flow graphs theory and design with synthetic high-order elements are presented. Thirty nine autonomous circuits are derived from full admittance networks with one and two active elements CFTA. Selected autonomous circuits are used for direct design of frequency filter and for filter design by extending autonomous circuits. Produced structures guarantee the possibility of controlling the quality factor Q0 independently of the characteristic frequency f0. Three frequency filters are designed by method using the signal flow graph theory. Active elements CFTA, VG-CCI and VCG-CCII are used. Full multifunctional frequency filter with conveyors VG-CCII and VCG-CCII guarantee the possibility of controlling the quality factor Q0 and the characteristic frequency f0 independently of the each other. In last part, from 2nd to 5th order low-pass filters by the method using synthetic high-order elements are designed. The behaviour of the selected filters has been verified by simulations in the PSpice program for all of the mentioned methods separately.

Abstract:
This diploma thesis deals with transformation of passive elements in filter structures onto substitutes with new active element CFTA. A basic characteristic, types of filters, their frequency characteristics and a form of transfer functions are listed in an introduction. After it is introduced a development of signal flow graphs, single type of graphs and their modifications. There is specified the method Mason-Coates graphs which proves as optimal for analysis circuits. There are listed rules for a correct evaluation and make-up the graphs. Further are described active elements CFTA, CDTA and a current conveyor. There are defined active substitutes to a floating and grounded inductance, a floating capacitor and also a floating and grounded resistor in this thesis. Here, there are also designed substitutes to parallel combinations of floating passive elements. All substitutes use CFTA as an active element and the grounded capacitor as a passive element of substitute. There are presented forms of M-C graphs, transfer functions and equations for calculation passive elements of substitute at created equivalents. Functionality of designed substitutes is always verified on second order passive filters by the help of a PC simulation. There are tabular listed defined equivalents with corresponding signal graphs, transfer functions and equations for calculation capacitor of substitute are here tabular listed too. In this work there are defined two ways of connecting defined substitutes within the scope of one circuit that can be used as a simple connection or integration bounded elements. In the case of usage of the integration bounded elements it is possible to reduce total number used active elements. The usage defined substitutions are verified by way of both methods on known higher order passive frequency filter structures. Third order low pass filter is here realized and scaled in frequency scope from 100 Hz to 100 MHz.

This master’s thesis describes the design of the frequency filters by the help of the graph of the signal flows. There are defined by modern components like GVC (Generalized Voltage Conveyor), GCC (Generalized Current Conveyor), CF (Current Follower), DO-CF (Dual-Output Current Follower), OTA (Operational Transconductance Amplifier), BOTA (Ballanced Operational Transconductance Amplifier) and CFTA (Current Follower Transconductance Amplifier), the graphs of the signal flows, which describe their activity in the thesis. In the other part of the thesis is illustrated the procedure of the design of the frequency filters by the help of the graphs of the signal flows. For the concrete design was selected in the first case as the active component double output current follower and in the second case the CFTA. There are noted all designed circuits of the frequency filters also their characteristic equations in this thesis. The activity of the selected circuits was remitted to the analysis in the simulation program called PSpice. Because the active components, with which was engaged in the design of the filter which doesn’t exist in the real form, that is why the UCC, which is sufficing for attestation of the function of the circuit, was used for the simulation. The simulation was implemented in the frequency range 10 Hz to 10 MHz.

Abstract:
In my graduation thesis I first of all shortly mentioned frequency–selection filters and their utilisations. However, the base point of this project was to acquaint with different types of signal flow diagrams with whom I should design and analyse frequency-selection filtres with conventional and also innovative active components. As the first I created signal flow diagrams for both voltage and current conveyors. These modern active components are well known today and enable the construction of circuits with better properties than circuits with traditional differentiating amplifiers with voltage feedback. Thereinafter I made signal flow diagrams for OTA component. Transconductancal amplifiers are well known active components used in various areas of analog signal processing. OTA amplifier is in fact the current source controlled by voltage difference, which is characterised by gm transconductance. Ulterior components were IOZ and IZN models of voltage amplifier with voltage gain A. The last component was COA amplifier. It is a current operational amplifier. COA model is fully dual component to VOA, which is classical voltage amplifier. In my project I used filters with two OTA components. This filter offers functions like low-pass filter, band-pass filter, high-pass filter, band-stop filter and two-phase network. Following this I used circuits with two GCC conveyors. These offer band-pass filter, low-pass filter, high-pass filter, band-stop filter and two-phase network. Ultimately I designed filters with COA components, which offer three transmission functions simultaneously (DP, PP and HP). Analysis of these filters was made with a help of PSpice computer programme.

Abstract:
This thesis deals with the synthesis and optimization of frequency analogue filters with modern active elements usable for higher frequencies. The thesis is divided into three parts, the first part deals with the problematic concerning Leap-Frog combined ARC structure. Due to a difficult design, this method is not described in a detail and used in practice, although it shows e.g. low sensitivity. Firstly, a complete analysis of individual filters was made (for and T endings) and consequently these findings were used during implementation of this method to NAF program. Finally, samples of real filters were realized (for verification of functioning and correct design). Another very interesting topic concerning filters is usage of coupled band-pass for small bandwidth, where it is necessary to solve the problems concerning ratio of building elements values, but also price, quality, size of coils, sensitivity, Q factors, coefficients etc. That is why in practice a coil is very often substituted with other equivalent lossy and lossless blocks which create ARC filters structure. The design and the possibility of usage of lossy grounded elements were described here (such as synthetic inductors, frequency dependent negative resistor). Some parts of the design are individual computer sensitivity analysis, setting of usage and quality comparison of individual lossy grounded blocks. Besides, a program for these elements was created, it is useful for a quick design and depiction of transfer characteristics. The third part deals with the usage of tuning universal filters consisting three or more operational amplifiers, which secures its universality and possibility to create different kinds of transfer characteristic. In practice, Akerberg - Mossberg and Kerwin - Huelsman - Newcomb are the most used types of filters. These were also compared with less common universal filters. In the end, the possibility of digital tuning of universal filter with the help of digital potentiometers for filters of 10th order and frequency around 1 MHz was shown.

Abstract:
Origin Destination matrix estimation is a critical problem of the Transportation field since the fifties. OD matrix is a two-entry table taking census of the zone-to-zone traffic of a geographic area. This traffic description tools is therefore paramount for traffic engineering applications. Traditionally, the OD matrix estimation has solely been based on traffic counts collected by networks of magnetic loops. This thesis takes place in a context with over 600 Bluetooth detectors installed in the City of Brisbane. These detectors permit in-car Bluetooth device detection and thus vehicle identification. This manuscript explores first, the potentialities of Bluetooth detectors for Transport Engineering applications by characterising the data, their noises and biases. This leads to propose a new methodology for Bluetooth equipped vehicle trajectory reconstruction. In a second step, based on the idea that probe trajectories will become more and more available by means of new technologies, this thesis proposes to extend the concept of OD matrix to the one of link dependent origin destination matrix that describes simultaneously both the traffic demand and the usage of the network. The problem of LOD matrix estimation is formulated as a minimisation problem based on probe trajectories and traffic counts and is then solved thanks to the latest advances in nonsmooth convex optimisation. This thesis demonstrates that, with few hypothesis, it is possible to retrieve the LOD matrix for the whole set of users in a road network. It is thus different from traditional OD matrix estimation approaches that relied on successive steps of modelling and of statistical inferences

Abstract:
The aim of the thesis was design of reconnection-less and electronically reconfigurable filters of SISO type with non-traditional active elements. Adjustability of bandwidth or quality factor is also required. First part of the thesis deals with theoretical analysis of filters, their operation modes and design of frequency filters using Signal-flow graph method aswell. Last but not least, electronical reconfiguration of transfer function and parasitic analysis was discussed. Another part describes active elements used in the practical part of thesis. Behaviors and design of active elements using existing circuits (e.g. UCC,EL2082) are described and their transformation into the Signal-flow graph form too. In the practical part five reconnection-less and reconfigurable filters of SISO type was designed using SNAP program. Simulations were done using Orcad program with ideal and real simulation models of active elements. Last part deals with filter design in EAGLE and experimental measurement.
