Abstract:
The Shufʻa (preemption) or 'Side-Land Pre-Purchase Right Law' is a land by-law of Islamic Shari'ah law. The role of Shuf’a Law in land management is immense. Because Shufʻa law preserves the rights of all classes of partners and neighbors of the respective land. In the year 622 AD, the first practical application of this law took place in the state of Madinah Munawarah established by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). For around 1400 years, this law played an incredibly important role as an acclaimed land law of Muslim empires. Note that the amount of per capita land is gradually decreasing as the current global population increases. In such a situation, the land department along with the land owners are going through a transitional period in the purchase and sale of these poorly fragmented lands. In this situation, the land management law including the land pre-purchase right law need to be made more rich, practical and up-to-date. This article presents an authentic and evidence-based discussion of various aspects of Shufʻa Law. In addition, an attempt has been made to make a comparative analysis between the Shufʻa Law and the existing law of the country. The article has been prepared in a descriptive, analytical and comparative manner. Analyzing the results of Shuf'a law and relevant issues, presented in this article, it can be seen that the elements of this law can play an important role in the land management including the upgradation of Shufʻa Law.

Abstract:
Ayurveda the science of health always aimed to maintain health status of society. The good conduction of daily regimen not only maintains healthy lifestyle but also help to avoid medication for the treatment of diseases. To make the body healthy and strong, there are three sub pillars mentioned in Ayurveda. Ahara (food) is the basic need for an individual and an important tool in Ayurveda. Ahara acts as Aushadha (medicine). Shimbhi Dhanya Varga (Pulses) in daily diet plays an important role in maintaining muscle and bone strength. Health promotion can be done by pearl knowledge of Ayurveda, the science for the achievement of long, happy and healthy life. One among them is the varieties of pulses such as Mudga (green gram), Masha (Black gram), Adhaki (Red gram) and Makushtha (lentil), Rajashimbi (Soyabean), Satina (peas), etc. These three things help in balancing your Dosha. Diet means your food, and it is one of the most important things for our survival. The 12 groups men- tioned by Charaka Samhita. Shimbhi Varga (pulses) is one of them. They are also called Vaidala (dicotyledons). Bhavamishra has also explained 23 vargas one of which is Dhanya varga. Dhanya varga is divided into five sub types which are as follows: 1. Shali Dhanya, 2. Vrihi Dhanya, 3. Shuka Dhanya, 4. Shimbi Dhanya, 5. Shudra Dhanya. Shimbhidhanya Varga (pulses) is rich in protein, calcium, phosphorus and magnesium. The pulses are main source of protein except non vegetarians. Also, for the promotion of health seasonal regimen is given prime importance in our Ayurvedic texts. Ahara when used in an appropriate way can be used as a medicine in various diseases. The main objective of this article is to understand the use of Shimbhidhanya Varga in different Ritus andvarious diseases. An attempt has been made to explain eases based on Ayurvedic and modern pharmacology. Keywords: Shimbhidhanya, Ritus, Diseases

Literary work is a life guide of the Balinese Hindu community that still exists until today. One type of traditional Balinese literary work that is rich in moral teachings, especially related to Tri Parartha is kakawin Aji Palayon. This paper seeks to uncover the teachings of Tri Parartha contained in Aji Palayon's kakawin literary work with a set of semiotic and religious theories supported by content analysis and descriptive analysis methods. The results of the analysis show that Kakawin Aji Palayon is a traditional Balinese literary work in the form of a song that tells about the journey of the atman since leaving the rough body until it reaches shunya laya (a place of eternal peace). On the journey the atman is also filled with the teachings of Tri Parartha, namely asih (compassion), punia (sacrifice / sincere gift), and bhakti (truth devotion) which is dominantly found in chapter 1, 3, and 6. With high wisdom and understand the teachings of Tri Parartha well, then the atman can pass through various kinds of obstacles and temptations, so that finally he reaches shunya laya (place of eternal peace).

Full text
Abstract:
Pecan [Carya illinoinensis (Wangenh.) K. Koch] fruit presents a considerable weight for the tree to support during the growing season. A major part of this weight is due to the pecan shuck that surrounds the developing nut and kernel. Pecan clones vary considerably for the amount of shuck per nut, and little is known as to the value of this weight in determining final nut quality. Six cultivars differing in basic nut shapes and sizes were studied and found to vary greatly for shuck thickness, and weight of shuck per unit final nut weight and volume. Shuck thickness was shown to be a favorable genetic characteristic since fruit with thicker shucks had slightly greater nut fresh and dry weight, nut volume, nut density, kernel weight and content, and shuck weight per nut volume. `Sioux' had the thickest shucks (4.70 mm), while `Pawnee' had the thinnest shucks (3.72 mm). Fresh weight per fruit varied from 21.25 g for `Podsednik' to 10.18 g for Osage. Weight of fruit per tree was extrapolated using average shuck and nut weights, and it was determined that the fruit on each tree would weigh about 104 kg. This is a considerable weight, and adds substantially to limb breakage. However, thicker shucks contribute to final nut quality.

Full text
Abstract:
Many patients with Spina Bifida suffer from hydrocephalus as a complication of their developmental disability and surgeons commonly treat this condition with ventriculoperitoneal shunts. Surgeons have speculated for years that these shunts may cause some type of visual disturbance because of their close proximity to the visual pathways in the brain. Little research has been done, however, to support or discourage this commonly held belief. Questions and data from the Arkansas Spina Bifida Research Project were used to examine whether ventriculoperitoneal (VP) shunts and VP shunt revisions increase reports of visual complaints for the individuals participating in this research project. This cross sectional design used responses to the vision questions from the 2005 Arkansas Spina Bifida Questionnaire. Results showed a 333% increase in reported vision complaints after receiving a VP shunt, but no significance with the increase in vision complaints for those having three or more VP shunt revisions. Females were 50% to 60% less likely to report vision complaints in both multivariate linear logistic models. While these results indicate the potential relationship between VP shunts and vision concerns, they must be viewed cautiously in light of study limitations due to the small sample size, selection bias, and study design.

Boyd, Louise Anne. "Art, sex, and institutions : defining, collecting, and displaying shunga." Thesis, University of Glasgow, 2016. http://theses.gla.ac.uk/7546/.

Abstract:
In Edo-Japan (c.1603 – 1868) shunga, sexually explicit prints, paintings and illustrated books, were widely produced and disseminated. However, from the 1850s onwards, shunga was suppressed by the government and it has largely been omitted from art history, excluded from exhibitions and censored in publications. Although changes have taken place, cultural institutions continue to be cautious about what they collect and exhibit, with shunga largely remaining a prohibited subject in Japan. Since the 1970s there has been a gradual increase in the acceptance of shunga outside Japan, as evidenced in the growing number of exhibitions and publications. The initial impetus behind this thesis was: Why and how did shunga become increasingly acceptable in Europe and North America in the twentieth century, whilst conversely becoming unacceptable in post-Edo Japan? I discuss how and why attitudes to shunga in the UK and Japan have changed from the Edo period to the present day, and consider how definitions can affect this. My research examines how shunga has been dealt with in relation to private and institutional collecting and exhibitions. In order to gauge modern responses, the 2013 Shunga: Sex and Pleasure in Japanese Art exhibition at the British Museum is used as an in-depth study – utilising mixed methods and an interdisciplinary approach to analyse curatorial and legal decisions, as well as visitor feedback. To-date there are no official or standardised guidelines for the acquisition, cataloguing, or display of sexually explicit artefacts. It is intended that institutions will benefit from my analysis of the changing perceptions of shunga and of previous shunga collections and exhibitions when dealing with shunga or other sexually explicit items in the future.

Full text
Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to investigate further the characteristics of hearing loss in ventriculoperitoneal (VP) shunted hydrocephalus. Twelve (VP) shunt treated hydrocephalus children participated in this study. The etiology of the hydrocephalus was either intraventricular hemorrhage or spina bifida. A recent neurological examination reported the shunt to be patent in each child. Audiometric examination included pure tone air conduction thresholds, tympanometry, contralateral and ipsilateral acoustic reflex thresholds and distortion product otoacoustic emissions (DPOAEʹs). A unilateral, high frequency, sensorineural hearing loss was found in the ear ipsilateral to shunt placement in 10 (83%) of the 12 shunt treated hydrocephalic children. No hearing loss was observed the ear contralateral to shunt placement. Based on the pure tone findings coupled with the decrease in DPOAE amplitude in the shunt ear, the hearing loss appears to be cochlear in nature. It is hypothesized that the cochlear hydrodynamics are disrupted as the result of fluid pressure reduction within the perilymph being transmitted via a patent cochlear aqueduct as a reaction to the reduction of CSF via a patent shunt. In addition, a concomitant brainstem involvement is evidenced in the ART pattern possibly produced by the paten shunt draining CSF from the subdural space resulting in cranial base hypoplasia.

Abstract:
For the past 150 years studies on Kiswahili language, literature and culture have engaged the scholarly attention of many researchers (Hauner 1979. In their analyses of Kiswahili literary works, however, most critical studies have, generally, tended to neglect the aspect of artistic design. Instead, the central focus has primarily been on two interlocking aspects of these works: (1) their content, values or thematic messages and (2) their cultural and socio-historical contexts (Dorsey 1988). This widespread tendency to undervalue the importance of artistic design in Kiswahili literary works is not surprising as it was largely promoted by some of the earlier European authorities who popularised the idea that Kiswahili literature `is not of literary interest´ and `that social, cultural, and historical commentary by anthologists are more relevant to this literature than literary study´ (Biersteker and Plane 1989:451). It is encouraging to see, however, that in recent years more and more scholars, like Mlamali (1980), Fiedel and Shariff (1986), Biersteker (1991) and Mbele (1996), to mention but a few, address issues of artistic design in their critical appraisals of Kiswahili literary works. This article is a modest attempt to follow their example by looking at Utenzi wa Shujaka as an object of design; how the poet has used the technical instruments of verbal craftsmanshjp in his bid to elicit an aesthetic response from his audience.

Full text
Abstract:
Switching of shunt reactors and capacitor banks is known to cause a very high rate of rise of transient recovery voltage across the circuit breaker contacts. With improvements in circuit breaker technology, modern SF6 puffer circuits have been designed with less interrupter per pole than previous generations of SF6 circuit breakers. This has caused modern circuit breakers to operate with higher voltage stress in the dielectric recovery region after current interruption. Catastrophic failures of modern SF6 circuit breakers have been reported during shunt reactor and capacitor bank de-energisation. In those cases, evidence of cumulative re-strikes has been found to be the main cause of interrupter failure. Monitoring of voltage waveforms during switching would provide information about the magnitude and frequency of small re-ignitions and re-strikes. However, measuring waveforms at a moderately high frequency require plant outages to connect equipment. In recent years, there have been increasing interests in using RF measurements in condition monitoring of switchgear. The RF measurement technique used for measuring circuit breaker inter-pole switching time during capacitor bank closing is of particular interest. In this thesis, research has been carried out to investigate switching transients produced during circuit breaker switching capacitor banks and shunt reactors using a non-intrusive measurement technique. The proposed technique measures the high frequency and low frequency voltage waveforms during switching operations without the need of an outage. The principles of this measurement technique are discussed and field measurements were carried out at shunt rector and capacitor bank installation in two 275 kV air insulated substations. Results of the measurements are presented and discussed in this thesis. The proposed technique shows that it is relatively easy to monitor circuit breaker switching transients and useful information on switching instances can be extracted from the measured waveforms. Further research works are discussed to realise the full potential of the measuring technique.

Weststrate, Marnus. "LC-ladder and capacitive shunt-shunt feedback LNA modelling for wideband HBT receivers." Thesis, University of Pretoria, 2011. http://hdl.handle.net/2263/26615.

Full text
Abstract:
Although the majority of wireless receiver subsystems have moved to digital signal processing over the last decade, the low noise amplifier (LNA) remains a crucial analogue subsystem in any design being the dominant subsystem in determining the noise figure (NF) and dynamic range of the receiver as a whole. In this research a novel LNA configuration, namely the LC-ladder and capacitive shunt-shunt feedback topology, was proposed for use in the implementation of very wideband LNAs. This was done after a thorough theoretical investigation of LNA configurations available in the body of knowledge from which it became apparent that for the most part narrowband LNA configurations are applied to wideband applications with suboptimal results, and also that the wideband configurations that exist have certain shortcomings. A mathematical model was derived to describe the new configuration and consists of equations for the input impedance, input return loss, gain and NF, as well as an approximation of the worst case IIP3. Compact design equations were also derived from this model and a design strategy was given which allows for electronic design automation of a LNA using this configuration. A process for simultaneously optimizing the circuit for minimum NF and maximum gain was deduced from this model and different means of improving the linearity of the LNA were given. This proposed design process was used successfully throughout this research. The accuracy of the mathematical model has been verified using simulations. Two versions of the LNA were also fabricated and the measured results compared well with these simulations. The good correlation found between the calculated, simulated and measured results prove the accuracy of the model, and some comments on how the accuracy of the model could be improved even further are provided as well. The simulated results of a LNA designed for the 1 GHz to 18 GHz band in the IBM 8HP process show a gain of 21.4 dB and a minimum NF of only 1.7 dB, increasing to 3.3 dB at the upper corner frequency while maintaining an input return loss below -10 dB. After steps were taken to improve the linearity, the IIP3 of the LNA is -14.5 dBm with only a small degradation in NF now 2.15 dB at the minimum. The power consumption of the respective LNAs are 12.75 mW and 23.25 mW and each LNA occupies a chip area of only 0.43 mm2. Measured results of the LNA fabricated in the IBM 7WL process had a gain of 10 dB compared to an expected simulated gain of 20 dB, however significant path loss was introduced by the IC package and PCB parasitics. The S11 tracked the simulated response very well and remained below -10 dB over the feasible frequency range. Reliable noise figure measurements could not be obtained. The measured P1dB compression point is -22 dBm. A 60 GHz LNA was also designed using this topology in a SiGe process with ƒT of 200 GHz. A simulated NF of 5.2 dB was achieved for a gain of 14.2 dB and an input return loss below -15 dB using three amplifier stages. The IIP3 of the LNA is -8.4 dBm and the power consumption 25.5 mW. Although these are acceptable results in the mm-wave range it was however found that the wideband nature of this configuration is redundant in the unlicensed 60 GHz band and results are often inconsistent with the design theory due to second order effects. The wideband results however prove that the LC-ladder and capacitive shunt-shunt feedback topology is a viable means for especially implementing LNAs that require a very wide operating frequency range and also very low NF over that range.

Abstract:
AbstractSpinal dural arteriovenous fistulas (SDAVFs) are the most common vascular shunts of the spine. They occur predominantly in men (more than 80%), commonly involve the thoracolumbar spine, and usually cause progressive myelopathy because of venous congestion of the spinal cord. Recent advanced imaging technology can visualize the detailed angioarchitecture of the spinal cord, and this provides more information of the regional microanatomy related with the shunt disease. We retrospectively analyzed the location of the shunt with adjacent vasculatures and assessed the efficacy and the sensitivity of each imaging modality. Based on these data, a new concept of classification for SDAVFs was reviewed.

Abstract:
Abstract The goal of this study is to create an optimized Blalock-Taussig shunt used to temporarily repair pulmonary vascular blockages allowing a child time to grow so a more permanent surgical repair of the heart and vasculature can be performed. Blalock-Taussig or BT shunts are a surgical procedure performed on infants suffering from cyanosis or “Blue Baby Syndrome.” A BT shunt is an artificial vessel placed between the right ventricle and the pulmonary artery to increase blood flow in the lung and blood oxygen saturation levels. In a study of 96 patients with currently in use modified BT shunts, 32 patients (21%) had greater than 50% stenosis caused by myofibroblastic proliferation at the shunt lumen due to shunt geometry [1]. A 2007 study by the cardiac surgery division of Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions found an operative mortality rate of 14% (227 of 1,574) with patients undergoing BT surgery [2]. In this paper, the flow of blood through several different BT shunt configurations from actual patient data was analyzed using the commercial CFD software ANSYS Fluent. Results from each shunt’s analysis were then compared to determine the shunt parameters with optimal flow dynamics for use in infants suffering from pulmonary vascular blockage. It was found that the entrance boundary of current BT shunts caused blood flow hindrances due to high wall shear values and flow separation. A newly designed shunt was proven to partially fix this problem; however, a superior model could be optimized by using characteristics from currently used shunts and CFD results. Many iterations and designs of BT shunts were made using Solidworks, a solid modeling computer-aided design program, and were tested using Fluent to create a shunt optimized by smoothening the transition between areas of high and low wall shear stress, lowering the overall maximum wall shear stress, reducing flow separation, and equalizing the flow to the left and right lung. All these factors contribute to the chance of thrombosis and morbidity within patients. The resultant model shunt showed drastic improvement in lowering the average wall shear stress by more than 85% at the initial boundary with over 20% drop in overall average wall shear. It also achieved a decline of the maximum wall shear stress by over 25% while negating the possibility of any flow separation and improving the equality in flow to the left and right lung by more than 60%.

Abstract:
For newborns diagnosed with single ventricle hearts and insufficient blood flow to the lungs, their lack of oxygen in the blood can be remedied with a modified Blalock-Taussig shunt (BTshunt) between the innominate and pulmonary artery. However, some surgeons prefer to have two systemic-to-pulmonary shunts, by either leaving the ductus arteriosus open or construct a second BT shunt, to provide additional pulmonary blood flow. There have been clinical reports of premature shunt occlusion when more than one shunt is employed, and a recent audit of shunt operations at a single institution has revealed increased mortality. There are speculation that these adverse outcomes can be due to flow competition between the two shunts, and/or having too much pulmonary blood flow. The flow dynamics and cardiopulmonary physiology in single ventricle circulations where pulmonary blood flow is supplied by more than one shunt has not been studied previously. In this study, we adopted CFD-based multi-domain simulations to compare a range of shunt configurations to examine the issue of flow competition and pulmonary overcirulation.

Shunt damping of structures has been heavily researched, both passively and actively. Negative capacitance shunts actively control vibration on a structure and have been shown to obtain significant broadband suppression. The use of smaller piezoelectric patches, implemented in a periodic array, can alter the behavior of the control. Assorted shunt arrangements as well as circuit configurations will be investigated. Experimental results will be compared to theoretical predictions of shunt performance.

Abstract:
Metamaterial structures of beam or plate with periodic piezoelectric arrays have attracted more and more attention in recent years, which are conventionally designed for waveguide and/or wave propagation attenuation. The metamaterial structure with periodic piezoelectric shunts has also been explored for vibration control. R shunt and R-L shunt are traditionally adopted for the shunt circuit. An innovative type of high-order resonant circuit shunt is proposed and investigated for the periodic piezoelectric metamaterial in this paper. The introduction of an external inductor in the R-L shunt forms a resonance with the piezoelectric capacitance, which has the effect of reducing mechanical vibration at the resonant frequency of LC branch, with a certain bandwidth. The design of high-order resonant circuit shunt is introducing one more resonance around the resonant frequency, which is expected to broaden the bandwidth of the vibration attenuation. Finite element modeling of the metamaterial structure with periodic piezoelectric transducers is established. The method of obtaining the attenuation constant is also presented. Simulations have been conducted on comparing the vibration control performances among piezoelectric arrays with R shunt, R-L shunt, and the proposed high-order resonant circuit shunt. The simulation results illustrate that the proposed metamaterial structure with high-order resonant circuit shunts has broader vibration attenuation bandwidth. However, there is a tradeoff between the vibration attenuation amplitude and the vibration attenuation bandwidth, that is, although the high-order resonant circuit shunt has broader vibration reduction bandwidth, it cannot attenuate in larger amplitude.

Abstract:
Cerebrospinal fluid shunts for the treatment of hydrocephalus fail at a rate of 40% within the first year. The importance of this problem is supported by one institution’s analysis of neurosurgical 30-day readmissions with CSF shunt failure only second to brain tumor readmissions. Hospital shunt related costs have been estimated at $1.4 to $2 billion annually. The majority of these costs are attributable to shunt failures based on the number of revisions out of the total numbers of annual shunt procedures. The technical innovation of this project is a low cost, low risk and easy to implement CSF shunt design change compatible with current protocols. The proposed product is an innovative distal catheter to minimize the need for revision surgery due to obstruction (also referred to as occlusion). This is accomplished with a dual lumen catheter (current distal catheters are single lumen) consisting of a primary lumen and a secondary lumen providing redundant functionality in the event ofprimary lumen occlusion thereby eliminating the need for surgical shunt revision. 40% of shunts fail within the year after implant and distal catheter obstruction accounts for up to 24% of failures. Though less prevalent than proximal catheter occlusion, incidence of distal catheter occlusion is significant and improved reliability would reduce costs and improve patient outcomes by lowering the number of revisions.

Piezoelectric shunt damping is a well known technique to damp the vibrations of mechanical structures. The design of the electrical shunt aims to maximize the energy dissipation. Beside linear networks, switching circuits are a technique that can adapt to varying excitation frequencies. In this paper, the maximum damping performance of the SSDI technique is analyzed and compared to linear LR-shunts. It is shown that it can perform about 60% better.

During the 2011 NCSLI Workshop & Symposium the initial data for an NCSLI shunt inter-laboratory comparison (ILC) was presented and the data clearly showed the existence of measurement pitfalls in the field of dc shunts. The sharing of this data led to an examination of dc shunt measurements at the Canadian National Measurement Institute (NMI).In this presentation I will discuss areas of shunt measurement that affect the accuracy and repeatability of the measurement. These will include the effects of temperature, connectors, environment, and calibration methods. The importance of communication between the client and the calibration laboratory will be emphasized, as well as the importance of providing the client with a calibration that reflects the value of a dc shunt, in the manner and under the conditions that the artifact is used. Finally I will briefly discuss how shunt calibrations are performed at NRC.

Abstract:
The concept of switching the shunt circuit of a passive piezoelectric material used for vibration control has been studied by various researchers for the past decade. The technique involves connecting and disconnecting the piezoelectric actuator to and from a resistive, capacitive, or inductive shunt circuit in real time. By setting the switch timing appropriately, one can achieve significant damping in the accompanying structure. While the technique has been shown to be very effective in lab settings, the practical performance can be affected by several factors. This paper addresses some of the practical issues of switched shunts and analyzes the expected performance as various parameters vary in the system, including i) the original damping in the structure, ii) the relative stiffness of the structure and the actuator, and iii) mistiming of the shunt switching process. A simple single degree-of-freedom system with a switched resistor-inductor (RL) shunt is used in the study. The paper presents a mathematical model of the system and switched-shunt, and then presents the results of simulations that analyze the expected damping performance.

Abstract:
Abstract Hydrocephalus is a condition that affects humans and animals in which excess cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) builds up within the ventricles of the brain, causing an increase in intracranial pressure. The CSF can be released using a ventriculoperitoneal shunt, which effectively removes the fluid from the ventricles of the brain to the peritoneal cavity. In canines, hydrocephalus is sometimes a fatal condition complicated by shunt failure due to obstructions. The medical procedure is also expensive and has a high failure rate over the long term. In this paper, we present a systematic framework to carry out the multi-objective design exploration of canine shunts for managing hydrocephalus. We demonstrate the efficacy of the framework by designing a shunt prototype to meet specific goals of meeting the CSF flow rate target, minimizing shear stress on the shunt, and minimizing shunt weight. The shunt design variables considered for the problem include the inner diameter, inlet hole diameter, and the distance from the inlet holes to the outlet. A multi-objective design problem is formulated using the systematic framework to explore the combination of shunt design variables that best satisfy the conflicting goals defined. The framework and associated design constructs are generic and support the formulation and decision-based design of similar biomedical devices for different health conditions.

Abstract:
Abstract Hydrocephalus is characterized by the abnormal accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) within the ventricles of the brain, resulting in an increase of intracranial pressure (ICP). Ventriculoperitoneal shunts (VPS) are designed to prevent buildup of pressure in the brain by allowing excess CSF flow from the intracranial ventricles to the peritoneal cavity through a shunting mechanism. The shunt design presented in this paper is an inexpensive alternative to VPS, that is, a non-valve ventricular shunt design that directly routes CSF into the subarachnoid space. We recognize that consideration of multiple design criteria and uncertainty management are critical for designing biomedical devices to ensure robust performance. Hence, our objective in this paper is to present a multi-objective robust design exploration of canine shunts for managing hydrocephalus. Our approach in robust design focuses on managing uncertainties to deliver design solutions that are relatively insensitive to uncertainties. Hence, a multi-objective robust design problem is formulated using the compromise Decision Support Problem (cDSP) construct to explore shunt designs that best satisfy the conflicting goals dealing with the pressure difference and the stress, and a robust design goal dealing with the variations in pressure difference. We compare the results against optimal solutions to build confidence in the proposed method to identify design solutions that are relatively insensitive to uncertainties. The method presented is generic and can be applied to the multi-objective robust design of similar biomedical devices.
