In questa tesi si studiano le sottovarietà di Shimura negli spazi di moduli delle varietà abeliane complesse. Queste sottovarietà derivano da famiglie di rivestimenti di Galois compatibili con un'azione di gruppo fissata sulla curva base tale che il quoziente della curva base per il gruppo è isomorfo alla retta proiettiva. Si da un criterio affinché l'immagine di queste famiglie tramite la mappa di Prym sia una sottovarietà speciale e, sfruttando il computer, si costruiscono numerose sottovarietà di Shimura contenute nei luoghi di Prym.<br>In this thesis we study Shimura subvarieties in the moduli space of complex abelian varieties. These subvarieties arise from families of Galois covers compatible with a fixed group action on the base curve such that the quotient of the base curve by the group is isomorphic to the projective line. We give a criterion for the image of these families under the Prym map to be a special subvariety and, using computer algebra, we build several Shimura subvarieties contained in the Prym loci.

Dans cette these on traite certains cas de la conjecture d'andre-oort qui affirme que les composantes irreductibles de l'adherence de zariski d'un ensemble de points speciaux dans une variete de shimura est une sousvariete de type hodge. Le premier resultat traite le cas des courbes dans un produit s 1 s 2 ou s 1 et s 2 sont des courbes de shimura associees aux algebres de quaternions indefines sur q. On demontre la conjecture d'andre-oort pour un tel produit en supposant l'hypothese de riemann generalisee. Le deuxieme resultat affirme qu'une courbe irreductible fermee dans une variete de shimura quelconque s contenant un ensemble infini de points qui sont dans une orbite de hecke est de type hodge. Ce resultat implique, via le travail de cohen, wolfart et wustholz, une conjecture sur la transcendence de valeurs de fonctions hypergeometriques.

On montre que dans une variété de Shimura mixte M définie par une donnée de Shimura mixte (P,Y), soient C un Q-tore dans P et Z une sous-variété fermée quelconque dans M, alors l'ensemble des sous-variétés C-spéciales maximales contenues dans Z est fini. La démonstration suit la stratégie de L. Clozel, E. Ullmo, et A. Yafaev dans le cas pure, qui dépend de la théorie de Ratner sur des propriétés ergodiques des flots unipotents sur des espaces homogénes. D'ailleurs, une minoration sur le degré de l'orbite sous Galois d'une sous-variété pure est montrée dans le cas mixte, adaptée du cas pure établi par E. Ullmo et A. Yafaev. The main result is: let M be a mixed Shimura variety defined by a mixed Shimura datum (P,Y), C a fixed Q-torus of P, and Z an arbitrary closed subvariety in M, then the set of maximal C-special subvarieties of M contained in Z is finite. The proof follows the strategy applied by L. Clozel, E. Ullmo, and A. Yafaev in the pure case, which relies on Ratner's theory on ergodic properties of unipotent flows on homogeneous spaces. Besides, a minoration on the degree of the Galois orbit of a special subvariety is proved in the mixed case, adapted from the pure case established by E. Ullmo and A. Yafaev. Finally, a relative version of the Manin-Mumford conjecture is proved in characteristic zero: let A be an abelian S-scheme of characteristic zero, then the Zariski closure of a sequence of torsion subschemes in A remains a finite union of torsion subschemes

We investigate a variety of questions in the theory of Shimura varieties of orthogonal type. Firstly we provide a general introduction in the theory of these spaces. Secondly, motivated by the problem of understanding the special points on Shimura varieties of orthogonal type we give a characterization of the maximal algebraic tori contained in orthogonal groups over an arbitrary number field. Finally, motivated by the problem of computing dimension formulas for spaces of modular forms, we compute local representation densities of lattices focusing specifically on those arising from Hermitian forms by transfer.<br>Le but de cette thèse est l'exploration d'une variété de questions sur les variétés de Shimura de type orthogonal. On commence par une introduction à la théorie de ces espaces. Àpres, dans le but de caractériser les points spéciauxsur les variétés de Shimura de type orthogonal, on décrit les tores algébriques maximaux dans les groupes orthogonaux. This thesis consists of two parts. In Part 1 we study the rigid cohomology of the ordinary locus in some compact PEL Shimura varieties of type C with values in automorphic local systems and use it to prove a small slope criterion for classicality of overconvergent Hecke eigenforms, generalizing work of Coleman. In part 2 we compare the conjecture of Buzzard-Gee on the association of Galois representations to C-algebraic automorphic representations with the conjectural description of the cohomology of Shimura varieties due to Kottwitz, and the reciprocity law at infinity due to Arthur. This is done by extending Langlands's representation of the L-group associated with a Shimura datum to a representation of the C-group of Buzzard-Gee. The approach offers an explanation of the explicit Tate twist appearing in Kottwitz's description.

Pour S une variété de Shimura associée à un groupe réductif G, nous étudions la filtration par le poids dans la cohomologie des variations de structure de Hodge µH(V) et des faisceaux ℓ-adiques µℓ(V) sur S construits à partir des représentations algébriques de G, avec le but de définir des motifs pour les représentations automorphes de G.Dans les deux premiers chapitres nous rappelons les théories utilisées et nous y ajoutons des compléments. Dans le premier, nous faisons un survol des relations entre cohomologie des variétés de Shimura, représentations automorphes et théorie des poids, tandis que dans le deuxième nous introduisons les motifs de Chow et de Beilinson relatifs sur les variétés de Shimura de type PEL, ainsi que les applications de la théorie des structures des poids dans ce contexte. En particulier, nous étudions en détail l’action de l’algèbre de Hecke au niveau des motifs.Dans les deux derniers chapitres, nous nous concentrons sur le cas du groupe G =ResF|ℚGSp₄,F , où F est un corps de nombres totalement réel, et sur les variétés de Shimura S qui lui sont associées, les variétés de Shimura de Hilbert-Siegel de genre 2. Nous étudions donc les propriétés de ces motifs<br>Given a Shimura variety S associated to a reductive group G, we study the weight filtration in the cohomology of variations of Hodge structure µH(V ) and ℓ-adic sheaves µℓ(V) on S coming from algebraic representations V of G, with the aim of constructing motives for automorphic representations of G.In the first two chapters we review the theories that we use and we give some complements to them. In the first one we summarize the relationship between cohomology of Shimura varieties, automorphic representations and weights, whereas in the second one we recall relative Chow and Beilinson motives over PEL Shimura varieties and the applications of the theory of weight structures to this setting. In particular, we study in detail the action of the Hecke algebra at the level of motives. In the third chapter, we study in detail the weight filtration on the degeneration of the sheaves µℓ(V) along the boundary of the Baily-Borel compactification of S. From this, we deduce a complete characterization of the representations V such that the degeneration of µℓ(V) avoids the weights 0 and 1, and we find that they form a quite large class. In the fourth chapter, given such a representation V, we define motives for those automorphic representations of G which appear in the cohomology of µℓ(V). Dies ermöglicht, unter Verwendung der Theorie der Borcherdsprodukte, das arithmetische Voluminen einer zu einem Gitter L der Diskriminante D assoziierten Shimuravarietät, bis auf log(p) Beiträge zu Primzahlen p mit p^2|4D, zu berechnen. Dies ist eine Verallgemeinerung einer Arbeit von Burgos, Bruinier und Kühn. We develop a general theory of integral models of toroidal compactifications of Shimura varieties of Hodge type (and of its standard principal bundle) for the case of good reduction. This enables us, using the theory of Borcherds products, and generalizing work of Burgos, Bruinier and Kühn, to calculate the arithmetic volume of a Shimura variety associated with a lattice L of discriminant D, up to log(p)-contributions from primes p such that p^2|4D. The heights of the special cycles are calculated in the codimension 1 case up to log(p), p|2D, and with some additional restrictions in the codimension > 1 case. The values obtained are special derivatives of certain L-series. In the case of the special cycles they are equal to special derivatives of Fourier coefficients of certain normalized Eisenstein series (in addition, up to contributions from infinity) in accordance with conjectures of Bruinier-Kühn, Kudla, and others.

The thesis deals with the Ekedahl-Oort stratification of the special fibre of Shimura varieties of Hodge type. We construct a morphism of schemes from a(n) (fppf-)torsor of the special fibre of Shimura variety to a subquotient scheme of the loop group of the associated reductive group of the Shimura varieties. This morphism is given roughly given by the Frobenii of a family of p-divisible groups associated to the Shimura variety. We show that this morphism induces a morphism of fpqc sheaves from the Shimura variety in question to an fpqc subquotient sheaf of the loop group. We show in the end that the geometric fibre of this morphism give back the Ekedahl-Oort strata of the Shimura variety: this gives a conceptual interpretation of Eva Viehmann's new invariants of truncation of level 1 of loop groups.

Les résultats les plus intéressants sont obtenus pour les variétés de Shimura unitaires de signature $(n,0)^a \times (n-1,1)^b \times (1,n-1)^c \times (0,n)^d$<br>We prove several abstract criteria for semi-simplicity of l-adic representations for profinite groups. As an application, we show that generalised Eichler-Shimura relations imply the semi-simplicity of a non-trivial subspace of middle cohomology of unitary Shimura varieties. The most complete results are obtained for unitary Shimura varieties of signature $(n,0)^a \times (n-1,1)^b \times (1,n-1)^c \times (0,n)^d$

The main theme of this thesis is on the push-forward construction of motivic cohomology classes for Shimura varieties. This strategy was successfully employed in work of Lei-Loeffler-Zerbes et al to construct new Euler systems for Galois representations attached to certain cohomological automorphic forms, which have been used to prove new cases of the Bloch-Kato conjecture. In this thesis, we describe two new push-forward constructions for Shimura varieties associated to the symplectic group GSp(6) and the unitary group GU(2,2), and their distribution relations. First, we describe the joint work with Joaquin Rodrigues Jacinto on the construction of classes in the seventh cohomology group of the Shimura variety for GSp(6); these classes have coefficients in a local system associated to an irreducible algebraic representation of GSp(6) of arbitrary weight. The classes are defined as push-forward of elements in the cohomology of a triple product of modular curves. We prove a trace compatibility result for these classes and use it to deduce Euler system norm relations in the cyclotomic tower at any rational prime p. Secondly, we explain the construction of classes in the fifth motivic cohomology group of the Shimura variety for GU(2,2). They are obtained as the push-forward of GSp(4)-Eisenstein classes along the Gysin morphisms of a closed immersion of the Shimura variety for GSp(4) inside the one for GU(2,2). By perturbing the aforementioned immersion, we construct a two variable family of push-forward classes that satisfies certain norm relations. To derive these, we first prove, more generally, some distribution relations for the GSp(2g)-Eisenstein classes and then translate them into those for the push-forward classes.

Dans ce manuscrit, nous étudions la structure de Hodge-Tate de la cohomologie proétale des variétés de Shimura. Cette thèse est divisée dans quatre parties. D’abord, nous construisons un modèle entière de la courbe modulaire perfectoïde. Avec ce schema formel, on montre quelques résultats d’annulation de la cohomologie cohérente en niveau infini, et nous donnons une description du dual de la cohomologie completée en termes de formes modulaires intégrales de poids 2 et de traces normalisées. Dans un second temps, on construit l’application surconvergente d’Eichler-Shimura pour le premier groupe de cohomologie cohérente, il s’agit d’un morphisme de la cohomologie surconvergente à support compact de Boxer-Pilloni vers les symboles modulaires localement analytiques d’Ash- Stevens, qui interpole l’application d’Eichler-Shimura classique. Nous réinterpre ́tons les construc- tions précédentes en termes du morphisme des périodes de Hodge-Tate et de la courbe perfectoïde.Ensuite, dans un travail un commun avec Joaquín Rodrigues Jacinto, nous introduisons le concept de représentation localement analytique solide pour un groupe de Lie p-adique compact G. Nous nous inspirons des travaux de Lazard, Schneider-Teitelbaum et Emerton pour réinterpréter la propriété localement analytique dans la catégorie des représentations solides de G, et nous voyons que les objets obtenus peuvent être décrit en termes de modules sur des algèbres de distributions analytiques. En guise d’une application, nous démontrons quelques théorèmes de comparaison entre la cohomologie solide des groupes et la cohomologie de l’algèbre de Lie des vecteurs localement analytiques derivés. Pour finir, nous généralisons à des variétés de Shimura quelconque les travaux de Lue Pan sur la cohomologie complétée localement analytique des courbes modulaires. Le premier point technique est l’existence d’un opérateur de Sen géométrique qui est lié à la correspondence de Simpson p- adique. On montre que cet opérateur calcule la cohomologie proétale des modules sur le faisceau structural complété dans un sens précis. En appliquant cette théorie dans le cas des variétés de Shimura, nous arrivons à réduire le calcule de la cohomologie proétale de certains faisceaux à celui de la cohomologie de Lie des D-modules sur la variété de drapeaux. En particulier, nous prouvons que l’extension des scalaires à Cp de la cohomologie completée localement analytique se calcule comme la cohomologie des sections localement analytiques du faisceau structural de la variété de Shimura de niveau infini en p sur le site analytique. Comme corollaire, on en déduit une version rationnelle des conjectures de Calegari-Emerton sur l’annulation de la cohomologie completée. Ensuite, nous étudions les composantes isotypiques de la cohomologie completée localement analytique pour l’action d’un Borel. En utilisant le dictionnaire entre cohomologie proétale et cohomologie de Lie des faisceaux sur la variété de drapeaux, on arrive à construire des applications de BGG surconvergentes. De plus, nous donnons une preuve locale de la décomposition de Hodge-Tate avec coefficients, en utilisant la résolution BGG-dual et le morphisme des périodes de Hodge-Tate<br>In this thesis, we study the Hodge-Tate structure of the proétale cohomology of Shimura varieties. This document is divided in four main issues. First, we construct an integral model of the perfectoid modular curve. Using this formal scheme, we prove some vanishing results for the coherent cohomology of the perfectoid modular curve, we also provide a description of the dual completed cohomology as an inverse limit of integral modular forms of weight 2 by normalized traces. Secondly, we construct the overconvergent Eichler-Shimura map for the first coherent cohomology group, complementing the work of Andreatta-Iovita-Stevens. More precisely, we construct a map from the overconvergent cohomology with compact support of Boxer-Pilloni to the locally analytic modular symbols of Ash-Stevens. We reinterpret the construction of these maps in terms of the Hodge-Tate period map and the perfectoid modular curve. Thirdly, in a joint work with Joaquín Rodrigues Jacinto, we develop the classical theory of locally analytic representations of p-adic Lie groups in the context of condensed mathematics. Inspired from foundational works of Lazard, Schneider-Teitelbaum and Emerton, we define a notion of solid locally analytic representation for a compact p-adic Lie group. We prove that the category of solid locally analytic representations can be described as modules over algebras of analytic distributions. As an application, we prove a cohomological comparison theorem between solid group cohomology, solid group cohomology of the (derived) locally analytic vectors, and Lie algebra cohomology. Finally, we generalize the work of Lue Pan to arbitrary Shimura varieties. We construct a geometric Sen operator for a particular class of proetale modules over the structural sheaf which we call relative locally analytic. We prove that this Sen operator is related with the p-adic Simpson correspondence, and that it computes proétale cohomology. We apply this theory to Shimura varieties, obtaining that the computation of proétale cohomology can be translated in terms of Lie algebra cohomology over the flag variety via the Hodge-Tate period map. In particular, we prove that the Cp-extension of scalars of the locally analytic completed cohomology can be described as the analytic cohomology of the infinite-at-p level Shimura variety, of the locally analytic sections of the structural sheaf. This implies a rational version of the Calegari-Emerton conjectures for any Shimura variety without the hypothesis of the infinite-at-p level Shimura variety to be perfectoid. Then, we study the isotypic components of the locally analytic completed cohomology for the action of a Borel subalgebra. Using the interpretation as Lie algebra cohomology over the flag variety, we construct overconvergent BGG maps generalizing the previous work for the modular curve. In addition, we give a local proof of the classical Hodge-Tate decompositions for Shimura varieties, using the dual BGG resolution and the Hodge-Tate period map

Let Kp ⊂ G(Qp) be a hyperspecial subgroup, and K p ⊂ G(Ap ) be a compact open subgroup which is small enough. Let K = KpK p. By works of Deligne, we know that the smooth complex variety ShK (G, X )(C) := G(Q)\(X × G(Af )/K ) has a canonical model ShK (G, X ) over E. By recent works of Vasiu and Kisin, the E-variety has an integral canonical model SK (G, X ) over OE,v . The scheme SK (G, X ) is smooth over OE,v and uniquely determined by a certain extension property. Let kv = OE,v /(v) and S0 be the special fiber of SK (G, X ). The goal of this paper is to develop a theory of Ekedahl-Oort stratification for S0, generalizing known theory for PEL Shimura varieties developed by Oort, Moonen, Wedhorn, Viehmann... Thanks to works of Pink, Wedhorn and Ziegler on G -zips, we have the definition and technical tools for such a theory. Fixing a symplectic embedding, our first main result is the construction of a G-zip over S0 . This induces a morphism ξ : S0 → G − Zipµ , where G − Zipµ is the stack of G-zips of type µ constructed by Pink, Wedhorn and Ziegler. Fibers of ξ are defined to
be Ekedahl-Oort strata. Our second main result is that ξ is smooth. One can then transfer knowledge about geometry of G − Zipµ to results about Ekedahl-Oort strata. In particular,
we have a dimension formula for each non-empty stratum, and we know which strata lie in the closure of a given stratum.

This thesis is split into three largely independent chapters. The first concerns the representation theory of Zp[G]-lattices. Specifically, we investigate regulator constants, due to Dokchitser-Dokchitser, which are isomorphism invariants of lattices whose extension of scalars to Qp is self-dual. We first show that when G has cyclic Sylow p-subgroups then regulator constants are strong invariants of permutation modules in a way that can be made precise. Our main result is then that, subject to an additional technical hypothesis on G, this can be combined with existing work of Yakovlev to provide an explicit list of accessible invariants which completely determine, up to isomorphism, any Zp[G]-lattice whose extension to Qp is self-dual. The second chapter is an application of this result in the context of number fields. Given a Galois extension of number fields K=F with Galois group G, the extension of scalars to Zp of the unit group of K modulo its torsion subgroup denes a Zp[G]-lattice. If we assume that G has cyclic Sylow p-subgroups and satisfies the aforementioned hypothesis, then the above result gives a list of invariants which determine the Galois module structure. The main result of this chapter is then that if p divides G at most once, we can explicate these invariants in terms of classical number theoretic objects. For example, in some cases this can be done in terms of capitulation of ideal classes and ramification information. The final (unrelated) topic concerns relative motives over Shimura varieties. Given a Shimura datum (G; Ӿ) and neat open compact subgroup K ≤ G(Af ), denote the corresponding Shimura variety ShK(G;Ӿ) by S. The canonical construction described by Pink shows how to associate variations of Hodge structure on San to representations of G. It is expected that this should be motivic in nature, i.e. that there is a motive over S for every representation of G whose Hodge realisation is the variation of Hodge structure given by the canonical construction. Using mixed Shimura varieties, we show that this can be done functorially for representations with Hodge type {(-1; 0); (0,-1)} and that this is compatible with change of S. When (G;Ӿ) has a chosen PEL-datum, existing work of Ancona allows us to associate a motive over S to any representation of G. We then give results to show that in some cases this compatible with change of S and independent of the choice of PEL-datum.

Let f be a modular form of weight k ≥ 4 on a Shimura curve, let K be a quadratic imaginary field, and fix a rational prime p which is inert in K and di- vides the level of f. The goal of this thesis is to construct and study a collection of algebraic cycles on an appropriate Chow motive which encode data about the anticyclotomic p-adic L-function Lp(f,K,s) attached to f and K introduced by Bertolini-Darmon-Iovita-Spieß in [BDIS02]. In our setting, this function of a p-adic variable s vanishes in the critical range s = 1,...,k−1, and we study its derivative. After constructing this motive and the corresponding cycles, we compute their im- age under a p-adic analogue of the Griffiths-Weil Abel-Jacobi map, and show how this recovers the derivatives of the p-adic L-function at all the points in the critical range. Our main result can be viewed as a generalization of the result obtained by Iovita-Spieß in [IS03], which gives a similar formula for the central value s = k/2. It can also be seen as an extension of the construction of Bertolini-Darmon-Prasanna appearing in [BDP09] to the Shimura curve setting.<br>Soit f une forme modulaire de poids k ≥ 4 sur une courbe de Shimura, soit K un corps quadratique imaginaire, et soit p un premier fixé qu'on suppose inerte dans K. Nous étudions les propriétés p-adiques d’une famille de 1-cycles algébriques spéciaux sur une variété de Shimura unitaire de dimension 3 apparaissant dans le cadre des conjectures de Gan-Gross-Prasad. Ces cycles, introduits par D.Jetchev et étudiés également par Boumasmoud-Brooks-Jetchev et R.Boumasmoud, proviennent du plongement diagonal de U(1,1) dans U(2,1) x U(1,1) associé à une extension CM E/F. Ils satisfont des relations de distribution "horizontales" et "verticales" sur leur conducteur, faisant de cette famille un nouvel exemple de système d’Euler géométrique généralisant celui des "points CM" sur la courbe modulaire, dont l'exploitation par V.Kolyvagin permit une avancée conceptuelle majeure dans l'attaque de la conjecture BSD. La preuve de ces relations locales entre action de Galois et celle de l'algèbre de Hecke de G = U(2,1) x U(1,1) exploite les propriétés de certains opérateurs agissant sur l'immeuble de Bruhat-Tits de G, en les places finies de F correspondantes. Nous construisons, en une place tau inerte de F divisant p, une filtration de G par des sous-groupes ouverts compacts de type Iwahori définis comme les stabilisateurs d'une famille croissante de segments d'un même appartement. Nous adaptons au cas des segments la notion d'opérateurs "successeurs" étudiés par Boumasmoud-Brooks-Jetchev et montrons que ceux-ci proviennent de l'algèbre de Hecke-Iwahori locale. Nous démontrons que la tour de variétés de Shimura induite par cette filtration rend "compatibles" les actions de Galois et Hecke sur les cycles avec les morphismes de changement de niveau. Cette relation verticale sur le niveau est un ingrédient en faveur de l'existence d'un système d'Euler en familles p-adiques dans la cohomologie étale en degré médian de la variété de Shimura de groupe G<br>We study the p-adic properties of a family of special algebraic 1-cycles defined on a 3-dimensional unitary Shimura variety which appears in the setting of the Gan-Gross-Prasad conjectures. These cycles, introduced by Jetchev and also studied by Boumasmoud-Brooks-Jetchev and Boumasmoud, arise from the diagonal embedding of U(1,1) inside U(2,1) x U(1,1) attached to a CM extension E/F. These satisfy "horizontal" and "vertical" distribution relations for their conductors, making this family a new instance of a geometric Euler system generalizing the family of "CM-points" on modular curves, whose use by Kolyvagin provided a major conceptual advance towards the BSD conjecture. The proof of these local relations between the Galois action and the action of the Hecke algebra of G= U(2,1) x U(1,1) make full use of some operators acting on the local Bruhat-Tits building of G, at the corresponding finite places of F. We construct a tau-local filtration of G - for some inert place tau of F above p - by Iwahori-type compact open subgroups, which are the stabilizers of an increasing family of segments in a same apartment. We adapt to segments the notion of "successor" operators studied by Boumasmod-Brooks-Jetchev and show that these arise from the local Iwahori-Hecke algebra. We show that the tower of varieties induced by this filtration makes the Galois and Hecke actions "compatible" with the change-of-level maps. This level-wise vertical relation is an ingredient towards the existence of a p-adic family of Euler systems in the middle-degree étale cohomology of the Shimura variety attached to G

In this thesis, we study the compatibility between local and global Langlands correspondences for \(GL_n\). This generalizes the compatibility between local and global class field theory and is related to deep conjectures in algebraic geometry and harmonic analysis, such as the Ramanujan-Petersson conjecture and the weight monodromy conjecture. Let L be a CM field. We consider the case when \(\Pi\) is a cuspidal automorphic representation of \(GL_n(\mathbb{A}_L^\infty)\), which is conjugate self-dual and regular algebraic. Under these assumptions, there is an l-adic Galois representation \(R_l(\Pi)\) associated to \(\Pi\), which is known to be compatible with the local Langlands correspondence in most cases (for example, when n is odd) and up to semisimplification in general. In this thesis, we complete the proof of the compatibility when \(l \neq p\) by identifying the monodromy operator N on both the local and the global sides. On the local side, the identification amounts to proving the Ramanujan-Petersson conjecture for \(\Pi\) as above. On the global side it amounts to proving the weight-monodromy conjecture for part of the cohomology of a certain Shimura variety.<br>Mathematics

Cette thèse a pour objet l'étude de quelques propriétés arithmétiques et géométriques des variétés de Shimura orthogonales. Ces variétés apparaissent naturellement comme espaces de modules de structures de Hodge de type K3. Dans certains cas, elles paramètrent des objets géométriques tels que les surfaces K3 et leurs analogues en dimensions supérieures, les variétés hyperkähleriennes. Ce point de vue modulaire sera notre fil conducteur tout au long de ce mémoire. Ainsi, dans la première partie, on démontre un résultat d'équirépartition du lieu de Hodge dans les variations de structures de Hodge de type K3 au dessus d'une courbe complexe quasi-projective. Dans la deuxième partie, on étudie des analogues arithmétiques du résultat précédent. Un exemple d'énoncés qu'on obtient est le suivant: étant donnée une surface K3 définie sur un corps de nombres et ayant partout bonne réduction, alors sous certaine hypothèse d'approximation, il existe une spécialisation telle que le nombre de Picard géométrique croît strictement. Dans la troisième partie, on relie les problèmes du saut de nombre de Picard dans les familles de surfaces K3 à la question de construction de courbes rationnelles sur ces surfaces. Enfin, on étend un résultat de Bogomolov et Tschinkel. On montre notamment que toute surface K3 définie sur un corps algébriquement clos de caractéristique quelconque et admettant une fibration elliptique non-isotriviale contient une infinité de courbes rationnelles<br>This thesis deals with some arithmetical and geometrical aspects of orthogonal Shimura varieties. These varieties appear naturally as moduli spaces of Hodge structures of K3 type. In some cases, they parametrize geometric objects as K3 surfaces and their analogous in higher dimensions, the hyperkähler varieties. This modular point of view will be our guiding principle throughout this dissertation. In the first part, we prove an equidistribution result of the Hodge locus in variations of Hodge structures of K3 type above complex quasi-projective curves. In the second part, we study analogous results in the arithemtic setting. An example of statements we get is the following: given a K3 surface having everywhere good reduction and satisfying an approximation hypothesis, there exists a specialization with strictly increasing geometric Picard rank. In both cases, our methods take advantage of the rich arithmetic, automorphic and geometric structure of orthogonal Shimura varieties as well as the Kuga-Satake construction that links them to moduli spaces of abelian varieties. Finally, we extend a result of Bogomolov and Tschinkel. In particular, we show that any K3 surface defined over an algebraically closed field of arbitrary characteristic and admitting a non-isotrivial elliptic fibration contains infinitely many rational curves

Nous étudions la stratification de Newton des variétés de Shimura de type PEL aux places de bonne réduction. Nous considérons la strate basique de certaines variétés de Shimura simples de type PEL modulo une place de bonne réduction. Sous des hypothèses simplificatrices nous prouvons une relation entre la cohomologie l-adique de ce strate basique et la cohomologie de la variété de Shimura complexe. En particulier, nous obtenons des formules explicites pour le nombre de points dans la strate basique sur des corps finis, en termes de représentations automorphes. Nous obtenons les résultats à l'aide de la formule des traces et de la troncature de la formule de Kottwitz pour le nombre de points sur une variété de Shimura sur un corps fini. Nous montrons, en utilisant la formule des traces, que n'importe quelle strate de Newton d'une variété de Shimura de type PEL de type (A) est non vide en une place de bonne réduction. Ce résultat a déjà été établi par Viehmann-Wedhorn; nous donnons une nouvelle preuve de ce théorème. Considérons la strate basique des variétés de Shimura associées à certains groupes unitaires dans les cas où cette strate est une variété finie. Alors, nous démontrons un résultat d' équidistribution pour les opérateurs de Hecke agissant sur cette strate. Nous relions le taux de convergence avec celui de la conjecture de Ramanujan. En collaboration avec Erez Lapid nous calculons le module de Jacquet d'une représentation en échelle pour tout sous-groupe parabolique standard du groupe général linéaire sur un corps local non-archimédien<br>We study the Newton stratification of Shimura varieties of PEL type, at the places of good reduction. We consider the basic stratum of certain simple Shimura varieties of PEL type at a place of good reduction. Under simplifying hypotheses we prove a relation between the l-adic cohomology of this basic stratum and the cohomology of the complex Shimura variety. In particular we obtain explicit formulas for the number of points in the basic stratum over finite fields, in terms of automorphic representations. We obtain our results using the trace formula and truncation of the formula of Kottwitz for the number of points on a Shimura variety over a finite field. We prove, using the trace formula that any Newton stratum of a Shimura variety of PEL-type of type (A) is non-empty at a prime of good reduction. This result is already established by Viehmann-Wedhorn; we give a new proof of this theorem. We consider the basic stratum of Shimura varieties associated to certain unitary groups in cases where this stratum is a finite variety. Then, we prove an equidistribution result for Hecke operators acting on the basic stratum. We relate the rate of convergence to the bounds from the Ramanujan conjecture of certain particular cuspidal automorphic representations on Gl_n. The Ramanujan conjecture turns out to be known for these automorphic representations, and therefore we obtain very sharp estimates on the rate of convergence. We prove that any connected reductive group G over a non-Archimedean local field has a cuspidal representation. Together with Erez Lapid we compute the Jacquet module of a Ladder representation at any standard parabolic subgroup of the general linear group over a non-Archimedean local field

Le travaux récent de Calegari et Geraghty ont enlevé les restrictions de la méthode originale de Taylor-Wiles, cela nous permet d’attaquer les conjectures de modularité plus générales. Leur méthode se fonde sur deux autres conjectures, l'une est reliée au problème d'attacher les représentations galoisiennes aux classes de torsion dans le groupe de cohomologie de la variété de Shimura sous entendue et l'autre à la dégrée de concentration de ces groupes de cohomologie localisés. La première conjecture a été adressée dans une grande généralité par Peter Scholze mais la seconde reste évasive. Récemment, pour la cohomologie cohérente, Vincent Pilloni a développé une version de la théorie de Hida pour les groupes de cohomologie supérieurs qui construit une interpolation p-adique du complexe de cohomologie en question. Comme une application importante, nous pouvons contourner la second conjecture au dessus et en effet dans un travail commun récent, Vincent Pilloni avec ses collaborateurs ont montré que toutes les variétés abéliennes sur un corps totalement réel est potentiellement modulaire. Dans cette thèse, nous adaptons l'argument de Vincent Pilloni pour construire un complexe qui interpole les classes de cohomologie supérieurs de la variété de Picard. Ces résultats servent comme le premier pas vers la modularité potentielle des variétés abéliennes de dimension 3 qui proviennent des Jacobiens de la courbe de Picard<br>In their breakthrough work, Calegari and Geraghty have shown how to bypass some serious restrictions of the original method by Taylor-Wiles, thus allowing us to attack more general modularity conjectures and related questions. Their method hinges on two conjectures, one is related to the problem of attaching Galois representations to torsion classes in the cohomology of Shimura varieties and the other to the requirement that these cohomology groups, localised at an appropriate ideal are non zero only in a certain range. The first conjecture is addressed in a great generality by Peter Scholze, but the second remains elusive. Recently, for coherent cohomology, inspired by the classical Hida theory, Vincent Pilloni has proposed a method consisting of p-adically interpolating the entire complex of coherent sheaves of automorphic forms on the Siegel threefold. This serves as a way to get around the second conjecture above and plays a crucial role in a recent work, where they show that abelian surfaces over a totally real field are potentially modular. In this thesis, we adapt the argument of Pilloni to construct a Hida complex interpolating classes in higher cohomology groups of the Picard modular surface. In a future work, we hope to use this to obtain some similar modularity results for abelian three-folds arising as Jacobians of some Picard curves

Les variétés de Picard sont des variétés de Shimura associées au groupe des similitudes unitaires d'un espace hermitien de dimension 3 sur un corps CM. Elles paramétrisent les classes d'isomorphismes de variétés abdéliennes munies de certaines structures supplémentaires. En particulier, il existe une variété abdélienne universelle sur une variété de Picard et plus généralement des familles de Kuga-Sato.A ces variétés sont attachés des groupes de cohomologie. L'un des intérêts de telles variétés est qu'il est possible de trouver des représentations automorphes dans les groupes de cohomologie qui lui sont attachés, en particulier dans les groupes de cohomologie intérieure. Selon le programme de Langlands, ces représentations correspondent conjecturalement à des motifs. Le résultat principal de cette thèse est la construction de facteurs directs du motif intérieur de certaines familles de Kuga-Sato sur des variétés de Picard, c'est-a-dire d'un analogue motivique de la cohomologie intérieure. Cela passe par une étude détaillée des poids du motif bord de ces familles. On en déduit l'existence de motifs associés à certaines représentations automorphes<br>Picard varieties are Shimura varieties associated to the group of unitary similitudes of an hermitian space of dimension 3 over a CM eld. In particular, there exists a universal abelian variety over a Picard variety and more generally Kuga-Sato families. Cohomology groups are attached to these varieties. Automorphic representations can be found in cohomology groups, more precisely in interior cohomology groups. Following Langlands' program, these representations correspond conjecturally to motives. The main result of this thesis is the construction of direct factors of the interior motive of certain Kuga-Sato families over a Picard variety, meaning a motivic analogue of interior cohomology. To prove this, we study the weights of the boundary motive of such families. We deduce from this the existence of a motive associated to certain automorphic representations

La conjecture d'André-Pink affirme qu'une sous-variété d'une variété de Shimura ayant une intersection dense avec une orbite de Hecke est faiblement spéciale. On démontre cette conjecture dans le cas de courbes dans une variété de Shimura de type abélien, ainsi que dans certains cas de sous-variétés de dimension supérieure. Ceci est un cas spécial de la conjecture de Zilber-Pink. C'est une généralisation de théorèmes d'Edixhoven et Yafaev quand l'orbite de Hecke se compose de points spéciaux, de Pink quand l'orbite de Hecke se compose de points Galois génériques, et de Habegger et Pila quand la variété de Shimura est un produit de courbes modulaires. Notre démonstration de la conjecture d'André-Pink pour les courbes dans l'espace de modules des variétés abéliennes principalement polarisées est basée sur la méthode de Pila et Zannier, utilisant une variante forte du théorème de comptage de Pila-Wilkie. On obtient les bornes galoisiennes requises grâce au théorème d'isogénie de Masser et Wüstholz. Afin de relier les bornes sur les isogénies aux hauteurs, on démontre également diverses bornes concernant l'arithmétique des formes hermitiennes sur l'anneau d'endomorphismes d'une variété abélienne. Afin d'étendre le résultat sur la conjecture d'André-Pink aux courbes dans les variétés de Shimura de type abélien et à certains cas de sous-variétés de dimension supérieure, on étudie les propriétés fonctorielles de plusieurs variantes des orbites de Hecke. Un chapitre concerne les rangs des groupes de Mumford-Tate de variétés abéliennes complexes. On y démontre une minoration de ces rangs en fonction de la dimension de la variété abélienne, étant donné que ses sous-variétés abéliennes simples sont deux à deux non isogènes.

Dans cette thèse, nous nous intéressons à l'étude de l'arithmétique et de la géométrie des variétés de Shimura. Cette thèse s'est essentiellement organisée autour de trois volets. Dans la première partie, on étudie certaines applications de la théorie des modèles en théorie des nombres. En 2014, Pila et Tsimerman ont donné une preuve de la conjecture d'Ax-Schanuel pour la fonction j et, avec Mok, ont récemment annoncé une preuve de sa généralisation à toute variété de Shimura. Nous nous référons à cette généralisation comme à la conjecture d'Ax-Schanuel hyperbolique. Dans ce projet, nous cherchons à généraliser les idées de Habegger et Pila pour montrer que, sous un certain nombre d'hypothèses arithmétiques, la conjecture d'Ax-Schanuel hyperbolique implique, par une extension de la stratégie de Pila-Zannier, la conjecture de Zilber-Pink pour les variétés de Shimura. Nous concluons en vérifiant toutes ces hypothèses arithmétiques à l'exception d'une seule dans le cas d'un produit de courbes modulaires, en admettant la conjecture dite des grandes orbites de Galois. Il s'agit d'un travail en commun avec Christopher Daw. La seconde partie est consacrée à un résultat cohomologique en direction de la conjecture de Zilber-Pink. Étant donné un groupe algébrique semi-simple sur un corps de nombres F contenu dans ℝ, nous démontrons que deux sous-groupes algébriques semi-simples définis sur F sont conjugués sur F, si et seulement s'il le sont sur une extension réelle finie de F de degré majoré indépendamment des sous-groupes choisis. Il s'agit d'un travail en commun avec Mikhail Borovoi et Christopher Daw. La troisième partie étudie la distribution des variétés de Shimura compactes. On rappelle qu'une variété de Shimura S de dimension 1 est toujours compacte sauf si S est une courbe modulaire. Nous généralisons cette observation en définissant une fonction de hauteur dans l'espace des variétés de Shimura associée à un groupe réductif réel donné. Dans le cas des groupes unitaires, on prouve que la densité des variétés de Shimura non-compactes est nulle<br>In this thesis, we study some arithmetic and geometric problems for Shimura varieties. This thesis consists of three parts. In the first part, we study some applications of model theory to number theory. In 2014, Pila and Tsimerman gave a proof of the Ax-Schanuel conjecture for the j-function and, with Mok, have recently announced a proof of its generalization to any (pure) Shimura variety. We refer to this generalization as the hyperbolic Ax-Schanuel conjecture. In this article, we show that the hyperbolic Ax-Schanuel conjecture can be used to reduce the Zilber-Pink conjecture for Shimura varieties to a problem of point counting. We further show that this point counting problem can be tackled in a number of cases using the Pila-Wilkie counting theorem and several arithmetic conjectures. Our methods are inspired by previous applications of the Pila-Zannier method and, in particular, the recent proof by Habegger and Pila of the Zilber-Pink conjecture for curves in abelian varieties. This is joint work with Christopher Daw. The second part is devoted to a Galois cohomological result towards the proof of the Zilber-Pink conjecture. Let G be a linear algebraic group over a field k of characteristic 0. We show that any two connected semisimple k-subgroups of G that are conjugate over an algebraic closure of kare actually conjugate over a finite field extension of k of degree bounded independently of the subgroups. Moreover, if k is a real number field, we show that any two connected semisimple k-subgroups of G that are conjugate over the field of real numbers ℝ are actually conjugate over a finite real extension of k of degree bounded independently of the subgroups. This is joint work with Mikhail Borovoi and Christopher Daw. Finally, in the third part, we consider the distribution of compact Shimura varieties. We recall that a Shimura variety S of dimension 1 is always compact unless S is a modular curve. We generalize this observation by defining a height function in the space of Shimura varieties attached to a fixed real reductive group. Dans un premier chapitre on construit des invariants qui découpent dans les variétés de Shimura un ouvert dense, le lieu mu-ordinaire, et nous étudions les propriétés géométriques de ces invariants. Dans le second chapitre nous étendons au cas mu-ordinaire la théorie du sous-groupe canonique, et construisons donc pour des familles de groupes p-divisibles “presque” mu-ordinaire une filtration canonique de la p^n-torsion. Cela s’applique en particulier à certains voisinages rigides stricts du lieu mu-ordinaires des variétés de Shimura étudiées. In the first chapter, we construct locally some invariants that cuts out inside the Shimura varieties an open and dense locus, the mu-ordinary locus, and study the geometric properties of these invariants. In the second chapter we extend to the unramified mu-ordinary case the theory of the canonical subgroup. Thus, we construct for ’nearly’ mu-ordinary families of p-divisible groups a canonical filtration of the p^n-torsion. This applies in particular to some strict rigid neighbourhoods of the mu-ordinary locus of the Shimura varieties previously studied. In the third chapter, which is a collaboration with Stéphane Bijakowski, we extend the construction of the invariants of the first chapter to some local integral models of Shimura varieties where the prime p can be ramified in the local datum. Finally, in the last chapter, we use the constructions of the first two chapter to construct a rigid variety, the Eigenvariety, which parametrises the finite slope p-adic families of Picard automorphic forms when the prime p is inert in the quadratic imaginary field of the Picard datum

The Langlands program is a vast and unifying network of conjectures that connect the world of automorphic representations of reductive algebraic groups and the world of Galois representations.
These conjectures associate an automorphic representation of a reductive algebraic group to every n-dimensional representation of a Galois group, and the other way around: they attach a Galois representation to any automorphic representation of a reductive algebraic group. Moreover, these correspondences are done in such a way that the automorphic L-functions attached to the two objects coincide.
The theory of modular forms is a field of complex analysis whose main importance lies on its connections and applications to number theory. We will make use, on the one hand, of the arithmetic properties of modular forms to study certain Galois representations and their number theoretic meaning. On the other hand, we will use the geometric meaning of these complex analytic functions to study a natural generalization of modular curves. A modular curve is a geometric object that parametrizes isomorphism classes of elliptic curves together with some additional structure depending on some modular subgroup. The generalization that we will be interested in are the so called Shimura curves. We will be particularly interested in their p-adic models.
In this thesis, we treat two different topics, one in each side of the Langlands program. In the Galois representations' side, we are interested in Galois representations that take values in local Hecke algebras attached to modular forms over finite fields. In the automorphic forms' side, we are interested in Shimura curves: we develop some arithmetic results in definite quaternion algebras and give some results about Mumford curves covering p-adic Shimura curves.

The main goal of this thesis is to contribute to the explicit hyperbolic uniformization of Shimura curves. We will restrict to the case of curves attached to Eichler orders in rational quaternion algebras whose maximal Atkin-Lehner quotient has genus 0, which despite multiple differences bears some resemblance to the classical modular case. We will provide an approach to obtain an explicit uniformization of these curves and some of their covers, together with several applications. We will illustrate all the applications with plenty of examples.<br>L’objectiu principal d’aquesta tesi és contribuir a la uniformització hiperbòlica explícita de les corbes de Shimura. C’est une généralisation commune de la conjecture d’André-Oort et de la conjecture de Mordell-Lang. Le but de cette thèse est d’étudier Zilber-Pink. Plus concrètement, nous étudions la conjecture d’André-Oort, selon laquelle une sous-variété d’une variété de Shimura mixte est spéciale si son intersection avec l’ensemble des points spéciaux est dense, et la conjecture d’André-Pink-Zannier, selon laquelle une sous-variété d’une variété de Shimura mixte est faiblement spéciale si son intersection avec une orbite de Hecke généralisée est dense. Cette dernière conjecture généralise Mordell-Lang comme expliqué par Pink.Dans la méthode de Pila-Zannier, un point clef pour étudier la conjecture de Zilber-Pink est de démontrer le théorème d’Ax-Lindemann qui est une généralisation du théorème classique de Lindemann-Weierstrass dans un cadre fonctionnel. It is a common generalization of the André-Oort conjecture and the Mordell-Lang conjecture. This dissertation is aimed to study the Zilber-Pink conjecture. More concretely, we will study the André-Oort conjecture, which predicts that a subvariety of a mixed Shimura variety having dense intersection with the set of special points is special, and the André-Pink-Zannier conjecture which predicts that a subvariety of a mixed Shimura variety having dense intersection with a generalized Hecke orbit is weakly special. The latter conjecture generalizes the Mordell-Lang conjecture as explained by Pink.In the Pila-Zannier method, a key point to study the Zilber-Pink conjec- ture is to prove the Ax-Lindemann theorem, which is a generalization of the functional analogue of the classical Lindemann-Weierstrass theorem. One of the main results of this dissertation is to prove the Ax-Lindemann theorem in its most general form, i.e. the mixed Ax-Lindemann theorem. This generalizes results of Pila, Pila-Tsimerman, Ullmo-Yafaev and Klingler-Ullmo-Yafaev concerning the Ax-Lindemann theorem for pure Shimura varieties.Another main result of this dissertation is to prove the André-Oort conjecture for a large class of mixed Shimura varieties: unconditionally for any mixed Shimura variety whose pure part is a subvariety of AN6 (e.g. products of universal families of abelian varieties of dimension 6 and the Poincaré bundle over A6) and under GRH for all mixed Shimura varieties of abelian type. This generalizes existing theorems of Klinger-Ullmo-Yafaev, Pila, Pila-Tsimerman and Ullmo concerning pure Shimura varieties.As for the André-Pink-Zannier conjecture, we prove several cases when the ambient mixed Shimura variety is the universal family of abelian varieties. First we prove the overlap of André-Oort and André-Pink-Zannier, i.e. we study the generalized Hecke orbit of a special point. This generalizes results of Edixhoven-Yafaev and Klingler-Ullmo-Yafaev for Ag. Secondly we prove the conjecture in the following case: a subvariety of an abelian scheme over a curve is weakly special if its intersection with the generalized Hecke orbit of a torsion point of a non CM fiber is Zariski dense. Finally for the generalized Hecke orbit of an arbitrary algebraic point, we prove the conjecture for curves. These generalize existing results of Habegger-Pila and Orr for Ag.In all these proofs, the o-minimal theory, in particular the Pila-Wilkie counting theorems, plays an important role

There now exists an abundant collection of conjectures and results, of various complexities, regarding the diophantine properties of Shimura varieties. Two central such statements are the Andre-Oort and Zilber-Pink Conjectures, the first of which is known in many cases, while the second is known in very few cases indeed. The motivating result for much of this document is the modular case of the Andre-Oort Conjecture, which is a theorem of Pila. It is most commonly viewed as a statement about the simplest kind of Shimura varieties, namely modular curves. Here, we tend instead to view it as a statement about the properties of the classical modular j-function. It states, given a complex algebraic variety V, that V contains only finitely many maximal special subvarieties, where a special variety is one which arises from the arithmetic behaviour of the j-function in a certain natural way. The central question of this thesis is the following: what happens if in such statements we replace the j-function with some other kind of modular function; one which is less well-behaved in one way or another? Such modular functions are naturally called nonclassical modular functions. This question, as we shall see, can be studied using techniques of o-minimality and point-counting, but some interesting new features arise and must be dealt with. After laying out some of the classical theory, we go on to describe two particular types of nonclassical modular function: almost holomorphic modular functions and quasimodular functions (which arise naturally from the derivatives of the j-function). We go on to prove some results about the diophantine properties of these functions, including several natural Andre-Oort-type theorems, then conclude by discussing some bigger-picture questions (such as the potential for nonclassical variants of, say, Zilber-Pink) and some directions for future research in this area.

Cette thèse étudie les aspects topologiques et géométriques de certains espaces intéressants issus de la théorie de Hodge, tels que les variétés localement symétriques, et leur généralisation, les variétés de Hodge ; ainsi que les applications de périodes qui y prennent valeur.Au chapitre 1 (travail commun avec Looijenga), nous étudions la compactification de Baily-Borel des variétés localement symétriques et ses variantes toroïdales, ainsi que la compactification de Deligne-Mumford de l’espace de module des courbes d’un point de vue topologique. Nous définissons un "type d’homotopie champêtre" pour ces espaces comme le type d’homotopie d’une petite catégorie. Nous généralisons ainsi un ancien résultat de Charney-Lee sur la compactification de Baily-Borel de Ag et récupérons (et reformulons) un résultat plus récent d’Ebert-Giansiracusa sur les compactifications de Deligne-Mumford. Nous décrivons également en ces termes une extension de l’application de périodes pour les surfaces de Riemann. Ceci démontre une conjecture de Klingler<br>This thesis studies topological and geometrical aspects of some interesting spaces springing from Hodge theory, such as locally symmetric varieties, and their generalization, Hodge varieties; and the period maps which take value in them.In Chapter 1 (joint work with Looijenga) we study the Baily-Borel compactifications of locally symmetric varieties and its toroidal variants, as well as the Deligne-Mumford compactification of the moduli of curves from a topological viewpoint. We define a "stacky homotopy type" for these spaces as the homotopy type of a small category and thus generalize an old result of Charney-Lee on the Baily-Borel compactificationof Ag and recover (and rephrase) a more recent one of Ebert-Giansiracusa on the Deligne-Mumford compactification. We also describe an extension of the period map for Riemann surfaces in these terms.In Chapter 2 (joint work with Looijenga) we give a relatively simple algebrogeometric proof of another result of Charney and Lee on the stable cohomology of the Satake-Baily-Borel compactification of Ag and show that this stable cohomology comes with a mixed Hodge structure of which we determine the Hodge numbers.In Chapter 3 (themain chapter of this thesis) we study an atypical intersection problem for an integral polarized variation of Hodge structure V on a smooth irreducible complex quasi-projective variety S. One of the central themes of modern Number Theory is to study properties of Galois and automorphic representations and connections between them. In our dissertation, we describe two different projects that study properties of these objects. In our first project, which is analytic in nature, we consider Artin representations of Q of dimension 3 that are self-dual. We show that these occur with density 0 when counted using the conductor. This provides evidence that self-dual representations should be rare in all dimensions. Our second project, which is more algebraic in nature, is related to automorphic representations. We show the existence of canonical models for certain unitary Shimura varieties. This should help us in computing certain cohomology groups of these varieties, in which regular algebraic automorphic representations having useful properties should be found.

<p>The Hecke orbit conjecture plays an important role in understanding the geometric structure of Shimura varieties. First postulated by Chai and Oort in 1995, the Hecke orbit conjecture predicts that prime-to-<i>p</i> Hecke correspondences on mod <i>p</i> reductions of Shimura varieties characterize the foliation structure formed by Oort's central leaves. In other words, every prime-to-<i>p</i> Hecke orbit is Zariski dense in the central leaf containing it. Roughly speaking, a central leaf is the locus in a Shimura variety consisting of all points whose corresponding Barsotti-Tate groups belong to a fixed geometric isomorphism class. On the other hand, the prime-to-<i>p</i> Hecke orbit of a closed point <i>x</i> is the (countable) set consisting of all points <i>y</i> such that there is a prime-to-<i>p</i> quasi-isogeny from <i>x</i> to <i>y</i>.</p>
<p>In 2005, Chai and Yu proved the Hecke orbit conjecture for Hilbert modular varieties, followed by a proof for Siegel modular varieties by Chai and Oort in the same year. The major purpose of the present work is to generalize the method of Chai and Oort to Shimura varieties of PEL type. We investigate the geometry of the special fiber of the integral model of a Shimura variety with parahoric level at a given prime place.
To be more precise, we deal with, firstly, the definition of central leaves in this situation, their local closedness, and the relationship between the folations for varying parahoric level. This is connected to the verification of axioms for integral models formulated by He and Rapoport.
Secondly, we deal with the EKOR stratification which interpolates between the Ekedahl-Oort and Kottwitz-Rapoport stratifications. In the Siegel case we give a geometric description by suitably generalizing the theory of G-zips of Moonen, Wedhorn, Pink and Ziegler to our context.

In this dissertation, we study etale correspondence of hyperbolic curves with unbounded dynamics. Mochizuki proved that over a field of characteristic 0, such curves are always Shimura curves. We explore variants of this question in positive characteristic, using graph theory, l-adic local systems, and Barsotti-Tate groups. Given a correspondence with unbounded dynamics, we construct an infinite graph with a large group of ”algebraic” automorphisms and roughly measures the ”generic dynamics” of the correspondence. We construct a specialization map to a graph representing the actual dynamics. Along the way, we formulate conjectures that etale correspondences with unbounded dynamics behave similarly to Hecke correspondences of Shimura curves. Using graph theory, we show that type (3,3) etale correspondences verify various parts of this philosophy. Key in the second half of this dissertation is a recent p-adic Langlands correspondence, due to Abe, which answers affirmatively the petites camarades conjecture of Deligne in the case of curves. This allows us the build a correspondence between rank 2 l-adic local systems with trivial determinant and Frobenius traces in Q and certain height 2, dimension 1 Barsotti-Tate groups. We formulate a conjecture on the fields of definitions of certain compatible systems of l-adic representations. Relatedly, we conjecture that the Barsotti-Tate groups over complete curves in positive characteristic may be ”algebraized” to abelian schemes.
