Abstract:
Der große europäische Barockdichter, Reiseschriftsteller und Arzt Paul Fleming (1609 – 1640), geboren in Hartenstein bei Chemnitz, wurde im Oktober dieses Jahres vor 400 Jahren geboren. Neben seiner Dichtung wurde Fleming durch die literarische Auseinandersetzung mit den Kulturen jener Gebiete bekannt, die er auf einer mehrjährigen Gesandtschaftsreise kennen lernte: Russland, die Länder des Baltikums, des Kaukasus und des Kaspischen Meeres und schließlich Persien. Seine Werke wurden unter anderen von Johann Sebastian Bach vertonte. David Pohle, der fürstliche Kapellmeister in den sächsischen Sekundogeniturfürstentümern, vertonte Oden des mit 30 Jahren frühvollendeten Fleming. Er war neben Martin Opitz der bedeutendste deutschsprachige Dichter des 17. Jahrhunderts. Den 400. Geburtstag nimmt die Stadtbibliothek Chemnitz zum Anlass, die Bedeutung Paul Flemings mit einer Ausstellung und Festveranstaltung zu würdigen.

Abstract:
My thesis aims to detect the role of Da-sein in Heidegger’s Beiträge zur Philosophie and shows how this should be understood as a new concept compared to the notion of Dasein presented in Sein und Zeit. I claim that Da-sein is not Dasein: these two notions involve two meanings and two different ontological accounts. In order to prove that, in the first chapter I analyse the characteristics of Dasein in Sein und Zeit, so arguing that Dasein and the human beings are two interchangeable terms: Dasein does not indicate the way of being of the human being, rather the human being as a being. Then, I use Heidegger’s works written before Beiträge in order to analyse the genesis of Da-sein and, at the same time, the genesis of all the other concepts required to understand its features. In so doing, I isolate three main philosophical domains that, in my opinion, characterise Heidegger’s thought during the early 1930s: the Greeks (second chapter), Nietzsche (third chapter) and Hölderlin (fourth chapter). Through his analysis of Greek philosophy (especially through the analysis of the concepts of physis, aletheia and logos), Heidegger puts the basis to elaborate a new ontology, grounded on the Being (Seyn) as such, and not on that being which questions the meaning of Being (Sein), namely Dasein. Thanks to Nietzsche, Heidegger starts conceiving the end of Western metaphysics and the role of the subject in it. As a consequence, Heidegger argues that the structure of history is ontologically oriented and that the metaphysical subject lies on the opposite side of Da-sein. Finally, by reading Hölderlin Heidegger acquires the philosophical instruments to think beyond this end and beyond this subject; that is, he offers the theoretical tools to understand the necessity of the withdrawal of Being and to locate the human being within this necessity. Therefore, in the fifth chapter, I analyse Beiträge on the light of all these theorical frames, gathering them around the problem of Da-sein. In so doing, I show that Da-sein 1) does not indicate the human being, but an ontological place (Ort) that has to be occupied by human being; 2) this place is where Seyn allows human being to ground the being; 3) in metaphysics, this place is closed and the human finds itself outside the Da-sein and it could not properly ground the being; 4) after the end of metaphysics, we have the chance to open again this place, understanding the reasons of its closing, and to situate the human being in the Da-sein.

Notre but dans ce présent travail, c'était d'analyser et de comprendre l'historicité de l'esprit objectivé dans ses moments objectif et absolu dans la philosophie hégélienne sans minimiser l'apport de ses pairs idéalistes. Ce faisant le développement de notre travail a obéi à une structuration ternaire. La première partie traite de l'historicité de l'esprit objectif à travers ses grands moments ou déterminités ; la famille, la société civile et l'Etat. C’est l'étude des institutions humaines, de leur orient jusqu'à leur occident où elles obéissent aux normes universelles de Raison et de Liberté. L'expression du Geist que médiatisent ces déterminités objectives, révèle cependant, une permanence de la contingence dont le propre consiste à l'inscrire dans un processus fini. Ainsi, frappé par le négatif à son sommet qu'est l'Etat dans les relations internationales, l'esprit objectif inconscient dévoile ses limites, que l'esprit n'est pas que politique ; ce qui pose la nécessité de sa subordination à l'esprit absolu, le royaume de la pensée pure, de l'esprit conscient de soi. C'est ce que nous avons analysé dans la deuxième partie du travail. Ici, l'esprit absolu exprime le Geist dans sa haute sphère composée de l'art, de la religion et de la philosophie. Enfin, la troisième partie développe le rapport dialectique entre l'esprit objectif et l'esprit absolu. Cette dernière nous a permis de voir en quoi l'esprit absolu constitue la sphère fondant ce devenir objectif- esprit objectif- et doit être placée au premier plan. On en a tiré un enseignement : celui de la réhabilitation hégélienne de la religion. Celui-ci permet, entre autres, d'amener les daltoniens, en l'occurrence certains spécialistes de la philosophie hégélienne qui méconnaissent la portée de la religion dans le système, à mieux voir clair
Our aim in this present work was to analyze and understand the historical dimension of the objectivized mind in its objective and absolute time in Hegel philosophy without minimizing the contributions of his idealist peers. Therefore, the process of our work has obeyed a ternary structure. The first part is about the historical dimension throughout its great times or detreminist aspect ; family, civil society and the State. It is about the study of human institution from their east to their west, where they are subjected to the universal norms of Reason and Liberty. The expression of Geist which those objective deterministic aspect mediatized, shows however a continuous presence of the contingency whose peculiarity is to put it down in a finished process. So, hit by the negative at its top which is the State in the international relations, the objective mind shows its limits because the mind is not even political ; which arises the necessity of its subordination to the absolute mind, the kingdom of pure thinking, of the mind conscious about itself. That is what we have analyzed in the second part. Here, the absolute mind expresses the Geist in its high sphere, composed of art, religion and philosophy. Finally, the third part deals with the dialectical relation between the objective mind and the absolute mind. The latter has enabled us to understand how the absolute mind is the sphere constituting the basis of the objective evolutionobjective mind- and must be highlighted. What we have learnt from it is the hegelian rehabilitation of religion. In fact, it helps, among others, to make colour-blind people, particulary some hegelian specialists who do not master the religious aspect in the system, to see better and clearly

Abstract:
This thesis investigated the role of genetics in schizophrenia. Particular schizophrenia risk genes were examined to determine their role in the development of specific schizophrenia symptoms. These genes were further studied to determine how they interact to cause schizophrenia symptoms. One important schizophrenia risk gene (BDNF) was studied in detail to determine its effect on gene expression and epigenetic changes in brains of schizophrenia individuals. This thesis has contributed to a better understanding of the role of genetics in the development of particular symptoms of schizophrenia. The results presented in this thesis may ultimately lead to more accurate diagnosis and targeted treatment for schizophrenia leading to more effective treatments with less side-effects.

Abstract:
Nitrogenase is a complex metal-containing enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of nitrogen gas to ammonia. During nitrogenase catalysis the Fe protein and the molybdenum-iron protein associate and dissociate in a manner resulting in the hydrolysis of two molecules of MgATP and the transfer of at least one electron to the MoFe protein. The role of nucleotide binding and hydrolysis in nitrogenase catalysis is one of the most fascinating aspects of nitrogenase function. The Fe protein upon binding to MgATP undergoes a huge conformational change which is important for subsequent steps of nitrogenase reaction mechanism. Therefore structural characterization of the Fe protein bound to MgATP will provide a basis on how MgATP binding promotes the complex formation whereas hydrolysis to MgADP leads to the dissociation of the macromolecular complex structure. Towards these ends we have conducted structural studies on a site-directed variant of the Fe protein which is a close mimic of the MgATP conformational state. Structural characterization of this Leu127 deletion variant revealed a distinctly new conformation of the Fe protein which arises from the rigid body reorientation of the homodimeric Fe protein subunits with respect to each other. The structure not only provides the first basis on rationalizing the initial docking interactions between the component proteins but also helps us to dissect the conformational changes on the Fe protein which occur upon nucleotide binding from those conformational changes that are imposed on the Fe protein by the MoFe protein during complex formation. Having this structure in hand, we have developed several other experimental approaches like Mass spectrophotometry and Small Angle X-ray Scattering/Diffraction (SAXS) techniques to probe the relationship between the Leu127 deletion variant a close structural mimic of MgATP bound "on state" and the actual MgATP bound state which is more difficult to probe crystallographically. These studies will help us to compare the different nucleotide bound states (MgADP and MgATP) of the Fe protein in solution that will help to predict the level of conformational change that is induced in the Fe protein that makes it compatible for binding to the MoFe protein in the nitrogen catalysis cycle.

Beaucoup d'observateurs s'accordent pour constater l'orientation des politiques sociales offertes aux populations vulnérables vers l'urgence, du fait de la pénurie d'emploi et de logement. Après avoir discuté les données concernant la double stigmatisation des personnes en situation de handicap et d'errance, les auteurs s'attachent à décrire et à analyser les formes prises par le soutien social à partir de la perception de ces personnes. Ils s'appuient sur une enquête qu'ils ont conduite sous forme de 100 entretiens individuels et de 20 échanges en groupe dans deux substrats culturels différents. A partir des expériences ou des désirs des personnes et de leurs groupes de pairs, ils interrogent les fondements de l'action sociale et proposent le modèle du soutien social global. Ils mettent en valeur l'articulation dialectique entre une éthique du sujet, l'effectivité des droits et la participation sociale des personnes en situation de handicap et d'errance aux politiques sociales les concernant
Many of observers agree to note the orientation of the social policies offered to the vulnerable populations towards the urgency, because of shortage of employment and housing. After having discussed the data concerning double stigmatization of the people in situation of handicap and wander, the authors endeavour to describe and analyze the forms taken by the social support starting from the perception of these people. They are based on an investigation which they led in the form of 100 individual talks and of 20 exchanges in group in two different cultural substrates. From the experiments or desires of the people and their groups of pars, they question the bases of the social action and propose the model of the total social support. They emphasize the dialectical articulation between an ethics of the subject, effectivity of the rights and the social participation of the people in situation of handicap and wander in the social policies with regard to them

La prévalence des mutations de BRCA1/2 est de 9,1 % et s'élève à 12,8 % chez les femmes atteintes avant 41 ans ; dans cette tranche d'âge, une femme mutée sur deux n'a pas d'antécédent familial de CS. Nos résultats plaident en faveur d'une analyse systématique de BRCA1/2 chez les femmes atteintes d'un CS ≤ 40 ans, à l'exception de celles n'ayant pas d'histoire familiale évocatrice et une famille de grande taille. Le taux de survie à 5 ans des CS mutés BRCA1/2 est similaire à celui des CS non mutés (95 % versus 90 %). Le bon pronostic à court terme des tumeurs BRCA1/2 doit être confirmé ; il peut permettre de guider les femmes dans le choix de leur prise en charge. Cette étude dont les biais de sélection sont limités, contribue à améliorer nos connaissances sur les prédispositions liées aux gènes BRCA1/2

Abstract:
Have You Seen Simone? consists of a creative nonfiction book, Have You Seen Simone?, and a critical commentary on the process and context of writing it. The book investigates the suspicious death of German traveller Simone Strobel, who went missing in February 2005, in Lismore, Australia. After an inquest into her death in 2007, the police stated they believed that Simone’s boyfriend, Tobias Suckfuell was involved in her death, although he has never been charged with any offence concerning her death. I was captivated by the case, and with the agreement of the police I committed myself to uncovering the truth. The book is the story of my investigation; it analyses the evidence, explores new lines of investigation, and recounts my interviews with the couple’s friends and families; included also is an interview with Tobias Suckfuell himself, who remains the prime suspect. Having become intimately involved in the case, the narrative becomes something of an investigation of the self, heightened by the loss of my mother who dies during the writing process. It should be noted that some of the participants in Have You Seen Simone?, the suspects, have exercised a legitimate right to silence, and although it would be legally inappropriate to draw conclusions about this silence, I question the ethics of this decision, as the nature of their silence suggests they have something to conceal. Silence is at the core of this investigation: what does it mean to write about a legally irresolvable case where the who, what, why, where of the original series of events remains opaque? Navigating through contentious material and negotiating legal, moral, and empirical judgments in a case that has no preceding narrative or conclusion established by the courts is inherently problematic. What does this mean ethically, cognitively and poetologically for the narrative? Is it fundamentally doomed to fail? Or can a persuasively constructed speculative view illuminate a situation that remains largely opaque? Bearing these questions in mind, what follows in the critical commentary, after an exploration of the history of the genre—that is the context in which I position myself (from its precursors to its more recent developments)—is a discussion on why my particular work was suited to a reflective, personal account; this is in view of my background as a newspaper reader as opposed to a journalist who is trained in objective, third-person reporting. I go on to discuss and compare the similar works of Australian author Helen Garner who wrote Joe Cinque’s Consolation and The First Stone—in this chapter and the following—as I further elaborate on my particular methodology in relation to writing methods, and investigative methods involving elicitation and evaluation. I will end with a discussion on the ethics of writing, specifically on the subject of the participants’ right to withdraw data from a research project.

Abstract:
This thesis project consists of twenty oil paintings and watercolors. It is a series of visual problems based on work from direct observation as opposed to work from imagination. The concern is to show how the works from observed nature affect the imaginary pieces and how the imaginary works lend unexpected elements to the observed works. With a particular interest in color, visual energy, and painterly form, the project shows how these two avenues of exploration start out separately and eventually blend.
