Abstract:
V analytické a interpretativní části studie se autorka opírá, mimo jiné, i o výsledky vlastního kvalitativního výzkumu, v němž hlavními respondentkami byly vysokoškolské studentky.

Abstract:
Aging female sexuality is often seen as hideous, non-existent or in decline, so that women are “naturally” portrayed as “unfuckable” and undesirable. The research question focuses on relating the sexuality of female characters as they age to their experiences of ageism in Virginie Despentes’ novel Cher connard (2022). Using a feminist approach, this research conducts a descriptive analysis of the representations of women of a “certain age” in this novel under study. Drawing on gender theories of sexuality and performativity, this paper argues that through the presentation of female characters who assume their subversive sexualities, the text denounces existing ideas by challenging what is well-established in society in order to construct a new narrative of the sexuality of women in their fifties. Keywords: ageing women, ageism, sexuality, subversive sexuality

Abstract:
Substantial progress in the medical treatment of individuals with spina bifida (SB) has increased the numbers who survive into adolescence and adulthood. However, sexual health in this population has not received much attention. This study explored the knowledge (SB Sexuality Knowledge Scale), worries (SB Worries Scale), romantic appeal (from Harter’s Self-Perception Scale), and access to sexuality information of a sample of 60 adolescents from a midwestern state. Study participants reported having sexual feelings like their peers, and they knew they could contract sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) if they were sexually active. However, only a moderate percentage was aware that women with SB are fertile, that adolescent women with SB should take a multivitamin with folic acid, and that latex-free condoms should be used by most adolescents with SB. They did not worry about their ability to make friends; however, these adolescents reported low levels of perceived romantic appeal and they worried about sexuality issues. These sexuality issues were not correlated to measures of SB neurological severity. Although over 50% reported having discussed sexuality with a health professional, 29% reported no one discussed sexuality and SB with them. Data from this study can affect the way health care providers and educators conduct sexuality education in health care and school settings.

Abstract:
Dominant representations of Latinas in popular and scholarly literature narrowly portray Latina sexual practices. Latina sexuality is often dichotomized: we are categorized either as traditional and sexually repressed, or as acculturated and sexually liberated. These interpretations reflect ethnocentric and essentialized understandings of both Latina/o culture and human sexuality. Many authors assume that modern white sexuality has progressively become more liberated and is the healthy, right way to be sexual. Even some of the arguments and analyses of Chicanas/os and Latinas/os normalize assumptions about sexual expression and evaluate “traditional” Latina sexuality only in terms of “negative sex”: negative sexual attitudes and experiences. Additionally, Juárez and Kerl recognize Latina writers-many leaders in lesbian/gay studies-who acknowledge that Latina sexuality is complex, diverse, and always locally and historically situated. They argue that Latinas may have unique ways of expressing sexualities, but are neither as repressed nor as oppressed as both popular culture and scholars would have us believe.

Abstract:
Counseling the sexually active teenager is both an important and a difficult undertaking. Due to the increasing rates in adolescent sexual intercourse, pregnancy, and sexually transmitted diseases, it is necessary for all health care professionals to elicit a sexual history from each patient. Being comfortable with one's own sexuality and conveying complete confidentiality are the sine qua non of this type of interview and counseling. Topics that may be covered are contraception, sexually transmitted diseases, sexual intercourse and its place in the adolescent's life, other kinds of sexual expression, and satisfaction with one's sexuality. It is not necessary to have liberal views of sexuality to obtain an adequate history or to provide competent counseling.

Abstract:
Sexuality is most natural and healthy when it is part of an emotionally genuine relationship, not even as its central part but rather as an upgrade of the intimacy of two people who are mutually loyal, committed, loving and respectful. However, if an individual was sexually abused in childhood, they may have suffered the severest consequences of sexual abuse trauma in the area of sexuality, and their experience of sexuality will be completely different from those who were not sexually abused. The article first describes what children learn about sex if they have been sexually abused, as this experience is very much related to the most common behaviours and experiences in adult sexuality. Then we present a theoretical overview of research on sexuality in adults who suffered childhood sexual abuse. The theory will be supplemented and supported by the statements of individuals who have been attending a therapeutic group for the sexually abused in childhood for two years. The statements quoted in the article refer to the period prior to the therapeutic process. Clinical experience shows that, until the victim has resolved the trauma of sexual abuse, the dynamics between the offender and the victim during childhood abuse is most often very similar to the dynamics of the abused with their partner, even in their sexual life.

Abstract:
Abstract Background Persons with ID most often have incomplete, contradictory and imprecise knowledge of sexuality and sexual intercourse itself. They are not provided with sufficient information on their own body and sexuality, and are often discouraged from and sanctioned for trying to sexually express themselves. Sexual abuse due to low sexual assertiveness is also common. Aim The principal aim of this study was to establish the presence or absence of sexual activity in adults with ID residing in institutional housing, as well as the level and structure of their knowledge of sexuality, their sexual assertiveness and preparedness to react in a sexually dangerous situation. Methods The sample consisted of 100 participants with ID residing in institutional housing. The instruments used included the General Sexual Knowledge Questionnaire, What-if test and Hulbert index of sexual assertiveness. Comparative statistics included coefficient of linear correlation and multiple regression analysis. Results The results showed that 82% of the participants are sexually active. Most participants admitted to sometimes having sexual intercourse against their wishes as well as to having difficulty asserting themselves. Their knowledge of pregnancy, contraception and sexually transmitted diseases was very low. Female participants and those that reported having sexual intercourse had more sexual knowledge and were also more sexually assertive. Conclusion Knowledge of sexuality and sexual assertiveness of persons with ID residing in institutional housing is very low. Additional information on sexuality is necessary, as well as support in learning to express their own desires and to deal with unwanted sexual activity.

Abstract:
AbstractThe regulation of masculine and feminine sexuality by the Classic Muslim law doesn't respond to moral or procreation concerns, nor even to preservation of an hypothetical “Natural order”. It responds, rather, to the preservation of social order. Therefore, different punishments against sexual transgressions are thought to being strictly applied with harm degree that those transgressions produce. The present article presents this thesis in the context of two axes : the links between fisq, space and sexuality and the relationships between masculinity and sexuality.

Richards, Alexandra F. "Sexuality within stroke rehabilitation." Thesis, Canterbury Christ Church University, 2014. http://create.canterbury.ac.uk/12811/.

Full text
Abstract:
Post-stroke sexual difficulties are common but sexuality is an area frequently neglected within stroke rehabilitation. This study aimed to explore the process by which healthcare professionals approach and work with the topic of sexuality within stroke rehabilitation. This was hoped to improve understanding of why current guidelines around addressing post-stroke sexual issues are not followed, and what would support professionals to meet patients’ needs. Ten healthcare professionals working within stroke rehabilitation were interviewed, covering a range of disciplines and settings. The data was analysed using grounded theory methodology. Fourteen major categories were co-constructed from participants’ data and a theoretical model was developed. Although the majority of participants rarely engaged with sexual issues, they adopted both direct and indirect strategies for engaging with the sexual concerns of their patients. Concerns were usually addressed through the provision of information and supportive conversation with a professional. Professionals’ own personal level of comfort with the topic of sexuality interacted with a series of barriers to limit opportunities for engaging with sexual concerns. These barriers included environmental factors relating to the context of stroke rehabilitation, professionals’ perception of lacking abilities and unhelpful attitudes towards patients and sexuality. Positive and inclusive attitudes towards sexuality and professional roles and building a strong therapeutic relationship facilitated professionals taking action. The findings are considered in relation to existing guidelines and research, and the clinical implications for rehabilitation and staff training are discussed.

Abstract:
Sexuality is integral to every person and affects the individual in all developmen-tal stages. Sexuality is affected by both illness and treatments, which is a reason why nurses ought to incorporate sexuality into nursing practice. Despite being aware of the importance of patients’ sexuality, many nurses choose not to address the issue, which could possibly cause the patient unnecessary suffering as sexual dysfunction can be the only symptom indicating severe illness. The aim of this study was to explore nurses’ attitude towards patients’ sexuality throughout life. The study was conducted as a literature review based on eleven scientific articles. Qualitative as well as quantitative articles were included in the study. Results showed that there are a number of barriers that affect nurses’ attitudes towards patients’ sexuality. The majority of all informants were well aware that addressing patients’ sexuality formed part of their duties as nurses, however, only a small number of nurses actually did address the issue. The most prominent barrier iden-tified by both nurses and nursing student was their self-reported lack of education in sexology.

Abstract:
Colorectal cancer, diverticulitis and Crohn's disease are morbidities that in some cases require the need for a colostomy as part of the treatment, which has beneficial purposes for recovery and increases patient survival. When performing the colostomy, individuals are faced with a new reality to be experienced. Areality that generates impactful changes in both bodily and psychic aspects. Starting from the moment of surgery until its completion. Which reverberate in the depression of their self-image, and especially in their sexual experience The present work consists of a survey on the sexuality of a patient with an intestinal ostomy, aiming at the relationship of self-image. For this, the ostomy patient's perception of sexuality will be analyzed, identifying factors correlated with self-image and the impact on sexuality, in addition to raising negative consequences experienced by these patients, analyzing the strategies for daily coping with the use of colostomy. Does the colostomy bag affect the sexuality of colostomy patients? This is a field research with a qualitative approach. The sample will be composed of colostomized individuals, members of the Ostomized People Program, in the city of Campos dos Goytacazes. The data collection instrument will consist of a semi-structured questionnaire, with open and closed questions, and a recorded interview, in order to analyze the patients' perception of sexuality. The results of the sociodemographic profile will be analyzed using descriptive statistics while the interview data will be analyzed using content analysis, according to Bardin's conception. The study intends to suggest the implementation of actions and conducts related to the proposed theme, in order to encourage further research in this area. It is also expected to contribute to the research subjects, academic community, health professionals and society in general.

Abstract:
“Learning About Sexuality: A Practical Beginning” is divided into three main parts. The first includes approaches that program staff, activists, and researchers are taking to understand people’s experiences of sexuality. The second explores the explicit and implicit links among health-seeking behavior, contraceptive practice, reproductive health, and sexuality. The chapters in part three focus on activities that challenge entrenched attitudes and behavior about sexuality that have real and potentially harmful effects on women’s and men’s reproductive health. The book features program and research work in all regions of the world with women, men, girls, and boys. The chapters are written by authors from over a dozen countries, with over half the contributions coming from developing countries. Collectively, these chapters represent an exploration of the relationship of sexuality to reproductive health, contraceptive practice, and overall well-being. For all their variety of place, approach, and focus, a number of common themes emerge.

Pritchard, Katrina, Helen Williams, and Alice Elworthy. Mapping policy understandings of gender & sexuality: thematic analysis. Swansea University, September 2023. http://dx.doi.org/10.23889/sureport.64441.

Abstract:
This second report from the Breaking Binaries Research (BBR) programme extends and develops our first report which offered a preliminary review of mapping understandings of genders and sexualities across policy data (Pritchard et al., 2023). As in our first report, we focus on the implications of these understandings for entrepreneurs and small businesses in relation to how diversity is constructed by policy makers. We define gender and sexuality diversity as including all those who self-identify as not conforming to binary identities and/or bodies, and those who identify in various, and sometimes multiple ways, as part of LGBTQIA+ and non-binary communities. Policy makers labelling of these identities, especially the use of pre-given categories, is problematic (Guyan, 2022). Within the overarching initialisms or acronyms, like LGBTQIA+, sit host of diverse, and in most cases, intersecting communities, which are oversimplified and little understood.

Abstract:
As part of the wider Breaking Binaries Research (BBR) programme, in this project we aim to map understandings of gender and sexuality diversity across various government policy documents within the UK. We focus on the implications of these understandings for entrepreneurs and small businesses in relation to how diversity is constructed by policy makers. Policy documents provide a visual and written summary with varying focus ranging from statements, directives, advisories and guidance, plans and reviews. Such policies represent a political ideological articulation of how prevailing values intersect with understandings of diverse identities (Ahl & Marlow, 2021). We define gender and sexuality diversity as including all those who self-identify as not conforming to binary identities and/or bodies, and those who identify in various, and sometimes multiple, ways as part of LGBTQIA+ communities. Policy makers labelling of these identities, especially the use of pre-given categories, is problematic (Guyan, 2022) but little is known about the use of different terms and associated understandings. Our initial focus is therefore a mapping exercise to explore both visual and textual data to shed light on policy understandings of these aspects of diversity.
