Abstract:
Single-sex school is the oldest educational institution in Indonesia and it is considered to be one of the original cultures of Indonesia. Although this schooling system has a big number in Indonesia, there have not been many investigations examining its effectiveness on the students’ performance. Therefore, this issue has a central role to guide the future implication of educational system in Indonesian high school. This investigation presents information on the effectiveness of single-sex school on the students’ performance in Indonesian high school context. Further, this investigation would also provide the relevancy of single-sex school with the Indonesian culture. In addition, this study would hopefully enhance the knowledge of other practitioners, students’ parents, as well as researchers about the position of local culture in the learning process. It is argued that single-sex school is more effective to apply in Indonesia to improve the learners’ performance at school. It is highly supported by its wider relevance with the Indonesian culture. Examining three main points can proof this. Firstly, single-sex school is very potential to promote good learners’ behaviour. Secondly, learning in a single-gender school can increase the students’ gender satisfaction. Lastly, single-sex school is a safer place to learn any subject as opposed to coeducational school where not all subjects are suitable to teach.

Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to review spatially the wages based on sex in Indonesia and review spatially the relationship between wages based on sex with the Gender Equality and Equity Index (IKKG) in Indonesia. The area, which is the location of this research, is the administrative region of the Republic of Indonesia, from now on referred to as Indonesia. The primary data used in this study are data on net wages and sex, as well as IKKG data from BAPPENAS. The data year used is 2010. This data will then be analyzed through 2 (two) stages, namely spatial analysis with the help of ArcGIS 10.0 and the relationship test using a cross table. Based on the calculation of the ratio presented through a spatial review, it can be seen that from 33 provinces in Indonesia, there are only two provinces whose wage ratio is below 100, that's mean, 31 provinces in Indonesia, the women, receive fewer wages than men. Nationally, based on the Indonesian KHL limits in 2010, the average female worker in Indonesia still received an inadequate salary, while male workers in Indonesia in 2013 received an average wage. In northern Sumatra and Eastern Indonesia, besides Papua has a reasonably low IKKG. Wage inequality based on sex can be a severe problem in the field of labor in Indonesia, and this inequality, if not solved immediately, will significantly hamper the role of women in poverty alleviation, because female workers will find it difficult to achieve financial independence and economic self-sufficiency.

Abstract:
The Problem Despite efforts to develop women entrepreneurs in Indonesia, the majority of them are unable to grow their businesses. The literature suggests that cultural factors (i.e., non-egalitarian sex roles) may limit the actualization of psychological factors that are critical for their successes. The Solution To investigate the motivation, challenges, and opportunities facing women entrepreneurs in Indonesia, this article focused on (a) characteristics of women entrepreneurs based on their motives: necessity- versus growth-oriented, and (b) psychological factors that influence their success. Focusing on micro and small enterprises, we collected data from 200 (87 necessity-oriented, and 113 growth-oriented) women entrepreneurs in Indonesia. The study findings demonstrate that the success of women entrepreneurs in Indonesia is associated with their identity conflict (i.e., induced by non-egalitarian sex-role culture), passion, and future time orientation, all of which interplay differently for necessity- and growth-oriented women entrepreneurs. The Stakeholders This article is important for scholars, practitioners, and government officers in a non-egalitarian sex-role country like Indonesia. It informs involved stakeholders of the specific aspects that need to be considered in coaching and leadership training for women entrepreneurs who are managing micro and small enterprises.

Abstract:
In the developing world condom use among sex workers and their clients plays a dominant role in the transmission of HIV/STD. In Surabaya, Indonesia, data from the 1993 STD prevalence survey in female sex workers (brothels, street, massage parlours, barber shops, call-girl houses, and nightclubs) reveal that only 5% (33/692) of the brothel workers and 14% (25/177) of the street walkers had condoms in their possession at the time of the interview. During the last paid sexual intercourse, sex workers from the brothels, streets, and nightclubs used condoms infrequently (14%, 20%, and 25%, respectively). Sex workers from massage parlours, barber shops, and call girls were about 5 to 3 times more likely to use condoms than sex workers from nightclubs (adjusted odds ratio of 3.5, 4.9, and 4.2, respectively); thus condom promotion programmes should be targeted at sex workers at brothels, streets, and nightclubs. Programmes should include: (1) free distribution of condoms to sex establishments at the initial stage, and condom social marketing at later stages; (2) penalties, including legal sanctions, against any sex establishments that do not consistently use condoms; (3) participation of brothel owners and madams in encouraging sex workers to consistently have clients use condoms during sexual intercourse; and (4) establishment of sentinel surveillance to monitor STD/HIV and condom-use compliance.

Abstract:
Sex workers and their clients as core groups of high frequency transmitters play a dominant role in the transmission of HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). In Surabaya, Indonesia, little is known about the prevalence of STDs in various sex establishments. We conducted an STD prevalence survey of 1873 female sex workers in Surabaya, Indonesia. We did not find any sex workers with HIV infection. Prevalence rates of other STDs (chlamydia, gonorrhoea, serological test for syphilis positive, and/or trichomoniasis) in female sex workers were 48% in brothels ( n =696), 42% on the streets ( n =192), 16% in massage parlours ( n =344), 25% in barber shops ( n =150), 17% at call-girl houses ( n =73), and 10% in nightclubs ( n =418). Sex workers from the brothels had the highest prevalence rates of gonorrhoea (24%) and trichomoniasis (8%), while sex workers from the streets and the barber shop had the highest rates of serological test for syphilis (STS) positive (30%) and chlamydia (18%). STD rates decreased with an increase in age (except for STS positive), an increase in education, a decrease in the number of sex partners, and condom use in the previous week. Condom use in the previous week was universally low among sex workers, especially among sex workers from the brothels (14%). Sex workers from the brothels had STD rates about 4 times higher than sex workers from the nightclubs (adjusted odds ratio of 4.4). Although the HIV seroprevalence rate is currently low, widespread prostitution and high rates of STDs in sex workers warrant programmes to avert a potential explosion of HIV transmission. Because sex workers from the brothels in Surabaya have high rates of STDs and low use of condoms but good cooperation with local authorities, STD preventive measures should focus on this group.

Abstract:
Background: Married men who are male clients of sex workers play an important role as “bridge population” of HIV infection from the concentrated epidemic population to the general population. This study aimed to investigate the protected sex with last paid sexual partner among currently married men in Indonesia. Method: A nationally representative population-based survey, 2012 Indonesia Demographic and Health Survey (IDHS) which covered 33 provinces in Indonesia was applied in this study. Out of 9,306 currently married men, 510 records of married men who reported for ever paying someone for having sex were eligible for this study. A dependent variable was protected sex (i.e. condom use) at last sex with a paid sexual partner whilst independent variables consisted of socio-demographic factors, spousal communication on HIV prevention, knowledge of HIV prevention, and attitude of condom use. Binary logistic regression was applied for bivariate and multivariate analysis. Results: Prevalence of condom use with a paid sexual partner at last sex among currently married men was 27.86% [95%CI=23.89-32.20]. Based on multivariate analysis, married men were less likely to use a condom with a paid sexual partner if they aged ≥ 40 years old (OR=0.48; 95%CI=0.30-0.76) versus those aged < 40 years old and worked in some sectors: clerical (OR=0.22; 95%CI=0.08-0.61), sales (OR=0.40; 95%CI=0.17-0.95), agricultural/self-employed (0.32; 95%CI=0.13-0.75), skilled manual (OR=0.38; 95%CI=0.18-0.79) compared to those working in professional/technical/engineering sectors. However, those who were from poorer (OR=2.28; 95%CI=1.08-4.82) and richest household (OR=3.08; 95%CI=1.32-7.20) were more likely to perform protected sex compared to the poorest ones. In addition, the likelihood of protected sex also increased when married men had spousal communication on HIV prevention (OR=1.84;95%CI=1.17-2.90), knew that using condoms can reduce HIV infection (OR=2.15; 95%CI=1.14-4.08) and had a positive attitude of using condoms can protect against diseases (OR=3.05; 95%CI=1.14-8.16). Conclusion: Interventional approaches for increasing protected sex among married men as clients of sex workers should be integrated with existing HIV program among other key affected populations (e.g., FSWs) at sex workers’ workplaces setting through providing HIV-related information, ensuring uninterrupted stocks of condoms, and enforcing condom use regulation.

Abstract:
The role of parents is very important in communicating sex education to children. However, in this study, the researchers focused on communication between families of different cultures, namely parents from Indonesia and the Netherlands in providing sex education to adolescents. Every culture has a different view of sex education. It can be seen that Indonesian culture still considers sex education taboo, so few parents discuss sex education for teenagers. At the same time, in the Netherlands, there are programs on sex education so that children can get it and avoid its unhealthy effects. The study aimed to determine: 1) family communication patterns in sex education by parents to adolescents in families of different cultures; 2) knowing the communication barriers faced and the role of family communication in discussing sex education in families of different cultures. The theory used in this research is Communication Accommodation. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. The data collection technique used is in-depth interviews. The findings show that the communication pattern shown by families with Dutch Sundanese culture is a balanced split pattern and the Dutch-Balinese family shows an equality split pattern of communication. The communication pattern that takes place is driven by intercultural relationships that are open and mutually respectful. The obstacles found were differences in mindsets and ways of communicating in discussing sexual problems in children and the three families of participants showed using a convergence strategy in communicating and interacting with family members, namely by adjusting their mindset, intonation, gesture, language, behaviour or Actions in carrying out family communication to communicate can be successful.

Abstract:
Delaying sexual debut is essential to prevent female teenagers from early sexual activity that can expose them to the risks of unintended pregnancy, unsafe abortion, and sexually transmitted infections, including HIV. Family structure has a critical role in shaping adolescents’ sexual behaviors. However, this issue remains poorly understood in Indonesia. The study aims to assess the association between family living arrangement and delayed sexual debut among Indonesian female youth. The study analyzed data of unmarried Indonesian adolescents age 19-24 from Indonesia Demographic and Health Survey (DHS) 2017, using descriptive statistics and multivariate logistic regression. After controlling for sex of household head, educational status and knowledge of HIV/AIDS, female teenagers who lived with both parents were more likely to postpone sexual intercourse; however, this effect was not statistically significant. The family living arrangement has important consequences in terms of sexual development among female teenagers. Interventions on strengthening supportive atmosphere within the family and improving parent-adolescent relationships are critical in reducing teenagers' vulnerability to sexual risk-taking behaviors.

Abstract:
Abstract Background Community-based outreach programs play an important role in the provision of HIV testing, treatment and health care for men who have sex with men (MSM) in Indonesia. However, qualitative studies of community-based HIV programs have mostly focused on clients rather than on outreach workers (OW). The experiences of MSM peer OW provide insights into how to extend and improve community involvement in HIV programs in Indonesia. Methods: This is a qualitative study based on focus group discussions, which brought together MSM OW (n = 14) and healthcare workers (n = 12). This approach facilitated documentation of the challenges associated with community-based outreach programs in Indonesia through a participatory focus group discussion between OW and healthcare workers. Results: Findings are reported in relation to challenges experienced in the context of community outreach, and solutions to the challenges faced by OW. It was found that awareness of a shared commitment to delivering HIV programs can facilitate good relationships between OW and healthcare workers. Conclusion: Future efforts should consider the role of OW within broader relationships, especially with healthcare workers, when developing community-based responses to HIV testing and treatment. Documenting the role of OW can help contribute to an understanding of ways to adapt HIV programs to reduce barriers to access both for those identified as MSM and others who are ambiguously placed in relation to the programmatic use of such categories.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the influence of age, sex, Body Mass Index (BMI), and nutritional status on blood pressure in class X and XI students, SMAK St. Hendrikus, Surabaya, Indonesia. The sample of students in class X and XI of SMAK St. Hendrikus Surabaya in 2013. The sample size was 150 students. The sampling technique was consecutive sampling. The independent variables were age, sex, BMI, and nutritional status, while the dependent variable was blood pressure. Data were analyzed by Pearson correlation test, Spearman, and Chi Square statistical test with ?=0.05. The level of risk was calculated by epi info program. Most students (40.7%) were 16 years old, those with pre-hypertension (systolic) 26.7%, grade 1 systolic hypertension by 1.3%, diastolic pre-hypertension 25.3% and grade 1 diastolic hypertension by 6.7%. Age did not have significant influence (p=0.623) on systolic blood pressure, but had a significant influence (p=0.002) on diastolic blood pressure. Male sex significantly influenced systolic (p=0.002, RR 5.36 95% CI 2.2320-12.8649) and diastolic (p <0.001, RR 1.95 95% CI 1.1272-3 , 3719) blood pressure. BMI had significant influence (p <0.001) on blood pressure. Nutritional status had significant influence on systolic blood pressure (p=0.002), with overnutrition status with RR 2.28, 95% CI 1.3983-3.7104. Nutritional status had significant influence on diastolic blood pressure (p <0.001), and with overnutrition status with RR 2.73, 95% CI 1.8143-4.1179. In conclusion, the trend for pre-hypertension to grade 1 diastolic hypertension increases with age and age has an influence on diastolic blood pressure. The risk of males to have pre-hypertension to grade 1 systolic hypertension is 5.36 times that of females, and the risk to have pre-hypertension to grade 1 diastolic hypertension is 1.95 times that of women. The higher the BMI, the higher the systolic and/or diastolic blood pressure.

Abstract:
Indonesian Adolescent Reproductive Health (SKRRI) explained that the level of knowledge of adolescents in 2007 about reproductive health was still low including 37.9% of adolescents who did not know about fertile days, 49 adolescents who stated that they did not know about sexual intercourse once could get pregnant. 3%, while 43.4% had never heard of sexually transmitted diseases. Lack of knowledge about reproductive health can lead adolescents towards free sex behavior which can cause transmission of sexually transmitted diseases and HIV/AIDS. In developing countries, as many as 40 percent of female and male adolescents aged 18 years have had free sex without being married. As a result of this premarital relationship, around 12 percent were positive for STIs, around 27 percent were HIV positive teenagers, and another 30 percent of young women were pregnant. Therefore, half of them still gave birth and the other half had abortions. Adolescent associations about free sex can be found through reports from the Health Service, in 2015 there were 1,078 school-age adolescents undergoing childbirth and 976 of them were pregnant outside of marriage, association tended for adolescents to have pregnancies outside of marriage. In the cities of Medan and Bandung, premarital sexual acts reached 52 percent, while in the city of Surabaya, it reached 47 percent. Data found by the National Commission for Child Protection found that 93.7 percent of teenagers in Indonesia had kisses, oral sex and even petting. The percentage of junior high school youth who are no longer virgins is 62.7 and 21.2% of vocational youth have had abortions and 97 percent have watched pornographic films.

Abstract:
Indirect female sex workers (FSWs), a type of FSW working under the cover of entertainment enterprises (e.g., karaoke lounge, bar, etc.), remain as an important key population for HIV transmission, signaling the need of appropriate interventions targeting HIV-related behaviors. This study aimed to investigate the association between social capital and HIV testing uptake. A cross-sectional study was conducted among 200 indirect FSWs in Denpasar, Bali. The dependent variable was HIV testing uptake in the last six months preceding the survey. The main independent variables were social capital constructs: social cohesion (perceived peer support and trust) and social participation. Variables of socio-demographic characteristics were controlled in this study to adjust the influence of social capital. Binary logistic regression was performed. The prevalence of HIV testing in the last six months was 72.50%. The multivariate analysis showed that only peer support from the social capital constructs was associated with HIV testing uptake. Indirect FSWs who perceived a high level of support within FSWs networks were 2.98-times (95% CI = 1.43–6.24) more likely to report for HIV testing. Meanwhile, perceived trust and social participation did not show significant associations in relation to HIV testing uptake. As social cohesion (support) within FSWs’ relationships can play an important role in HIV testing uptake, existing HIV prevention programs should consider support enhancement to develop a sense of belonging and solidarity.

Full text
Abstract:
Elasmobranchs play an important role in the functioning of marine ecosystems and top-down control in food webs. However, overexploitation threatens elasmobranch populations worldwide. Indonesia is currently the leading elasmobranch fishing nation, yet elasmobranch management in Indonesia is challenging because of the paucity of data on elasmobranch fisheries, especially at a species level. This study examined the elasmobranch fisheries of the Bali Strait by describing the species, sex and size composition of the elasmobranch catch landed at a major port in Eastern Java, Indonesia. Data were collected between August 2017 and March 2018 in Muncar. Elasmobranchs were identified to species level and sexed. The disc width and length of 301 rays and the precaudal length and fork length of 1657 sharks were measured. In all, 53 species were identified, many of which are at conservation risk, including species with national and international protection. Vulnerability to fishing gear varied across sex and size of each species, with immature individuals dominating the catch of most species. The findings emphasise the need for improved management of elasmobranchs in Indonesia and could help identify priorities or form strategies. Additional regional and fisheries-specific research is recommended to develop efficient and locally adapted management strategies.

Abstract:
Female sex workers (FSWs) decision to use or not to use condoms depends on several issues, including the decision to trust their client or not, a matter given little attention in previous research. This paper explores the role of trust in consistent condom use among FSWs. We used a cross-sectional survey among FSWs in Bali, Indonesia. The outcome variable for this study was condom use, and independent variables included sociodemographic characteristics, psychosocial factors, social capital dimensions and HIV prevention practices. In total, 406 FSWs participated in the study. Of these, 48% of FSWs used condoms consistently with paying clients over the last month. The following FSWs were less likely to consistently use condoms with clients: FSWs who did not trust that their peer FSWs will use condoms (AOR = 9.3, 95% CI, 3.3–26.2), FSWs who did not feel valued by the people at their location (AOR = 3.9, 95% CI, 1.4–11.6), FSWs who did not graduate from primary or never went to school (AOR = 2.4, 95% CI, 1.03–5.6), and FSWs who have worked more than five years as FSWs (AOR = 5.8, 95% CI, 1.2–29.2). Our results highlight higher rates of inconsistent condom use related to lower trust and feelings of being valued between FSWs, identifying areas for policy and practice attention.

The results of the study found that there had been reform of Muslim family law regarding mut’ah in the three countries studied, namely Syria, Egypt and Indonesia. if in traditional literature( fiqh) the right of mut’ah is only obligatory to be given to a divorced wife before had sex and with a dowry that has not been given, but in the three countries studied regardless of whether the wife was divorced before had sex or after had sex and whether the dowry has been determined or not. In addition, in modern Muslim family law there are provisions for the maximum limit of mutah that a husband must give to his wife, such as the standard of living for three years in Syria and two years in Egypt while in fiqh it is determined that the maximum size of mut’ah is not to exceed half the mistsil dowry or the price of a slave.

Abstract:
HIV/AIDS prevention is very important and absolutely necessary. HIV transmission is now entering a fairly alarming level, in which people with HIV/AIDS in certain subpopulations are emerging. Special steps and resources are thus needed to cope with the condition. There are some phenomena potentially encourage HIV transmissions, such as the increasingly common free sex, homosexuality, the use of unsafe and unsterile syringes in narcotics consumption, commercial sex workers and various high-risk sexual activities. One of the crucial concerns that arises when sending prostitutes back to their hometowns without any coordinated and holistic mechanism is that the prostitutes may cause the spreading of HIV/AIDS in their hometowns. The research objective is to provide the material (input) how the prostitutes themselves may cause the spreading of HIV/AIDS. The research employed descriptive method with a qualitative approach. The results showed that the implementation and the role division in the closure have been highly coordinated and holistic. The leading sector in the role division is the Social Welfare epartment of the Government in Surabaya. In terms of health aspects for the former prostitutes sent back to their hometowns, there has been no policies related to medical screening designed to identify the disease early. Screening is very important for early diagnosis during the post-closure phase. The screening mechanism is that the Provincial Health Department has to optimize the monitoring, coordination, cooperation, agreements and partnerships with stakeholders such as the Local Health Department and the National/Provincial/Distric AIDS Commission, NGOs that are concerned with the problems of HIV-AIDS, international organizations, professional organizations, community leaders, religious leaders and universities.

Abstract:
Objectives: The purpose of this paper is to review trends of HIV prevalence, condom use and associated risk factors among the female sex workers (FSW) in Denpasar, Bali. Methods: To analyze trends of HIV prevalence, surveillance data from 2000-2013 was used. Survey data from 2007 to 2013 was referenced for analysis of condom use trends. Data on associated risk factors was taken from 2012 integrated HIV and behavior survey. Results and conclusion: HIV prevalence among direct FSW in 2000 was as low as 1.6% (95%CI: 0.05-3.15) and continued to rise, reaching a prevalence peak of 22.5% (95%CI: 16.4-26.6) in 2010. HIV prevalence began to decline in 2011, 2012 and 2013. Analysis unearthed similar prevalence trends among indirect FSW albeit with a much lower prevalence of 0.25% in 2001, rising to 7.2% in 2010 and declining to 2.2% in 2013. The proportion of direct FSW reporting to always wear condoms in the last working week increased from 38% in 2007 (95%CI: 33.3-42.7) to 65% in 2013 (95%CI: 60.4-69.6). Multivariate analysis with logistic regression indicated that the significant risk factor with HIV prevalence was the specific grouping of FSW, in that low/mid-price are more at risk in comparison to high price with OR=4.37 (95%CI: 1.42-13.38). Risk factors associated with condom use was also the specific group of FSW, high price reported higher condom use with OR=4.04 (95%CI:2.03-8.04) and greater role of sex work site ‘pimps’ in encouraging their FSW to reject clients refusing to wear condoms with OR=2.06 (95%CI: 1.29-3.30). HIV prevalence among indirect and high-price direct FSW was much lower compared to prevalence in low/mid-price direct FSW. HIV prevalence and condom use among direct FSW population are significantly associated with group price range and the role of ‘pimps’.

Abstract:
In Indonesia drug in adolescents shows a number that tends to be high. This phenomenon is certainly an indication that there are character problems in children and adolescents in Indonesia, which certainly cannot be separated from the role of parents. In this case the function of parents and government support is needed in an effort to handle the use of drugs in teenagers in Indonesia. The results showed that the majority of adolescents who used drugs were more in adolescents who had heads of households with low education and had families with a low wealth index, were in whole families, and more in adolescents who lived in rural areas. Teenage boys tend to use drugs more than girls. Teenagers who use drugs have more characteristics of the 20-24 year age group, low education and are not working. The factors that significantly affect the use of drug use among adolescents include socio-cultural functions, place of residence, adolescence, adolescent sex, work status, adolescent access to PIK-R programs, and knowledge of the impact of drugs.

Abstract:
AbstractBackground : Cases of child sexual abuse in Indonesia continue to increase. The need for a parent's role in providing sex education from an early age is expected to prevent children from sexual abuse. Savy Amira Women Crisis Centre mentions that Tambaksari sub-district has the highest crime rate in Surabaya. Perceptions, attitudes and behaviors of parents in the provision of sex education in early childhood can be described in PAUD Tunas Mandiri Pacar Keling Subdistrict Tambaksari Method: This research method is qualitative with phenomenological approach. The number of samples as many as 10 mothers with purposive sampling techniques. The variables studied were perception, attitude and behavior of the mother. Data is collected by indepth interview method and processed with Interactive Model Of Analysis. Result : Most respondents have a perception that sex education is behavior, but respondents know that sex education has a good purpose. This is reflected in the attitudes and behaviors shown by most respondents about how they provide sex education. All they've been doing is part of sex education, it's just that they don't know or realize that. The age, level of education and employment in this study had little effect on perceptions of providing sex education. Conclusion: Almost all mothers interpret the provision of sex education in early childhood is still a taboo thing to give, while for the attitude and behavior of the mother is shown by limiting the child and supervision when playing gadgets, introducing genitalia and teaching toilet training.

Abstract:
Abstract INTRODUCTION Gliomas are one of the most common central nervous system tumors in adults. The Response Assessment Criteria in Neuro-Oncology (RANO) was developed to standardize the radiographic parameters used to assess therapeutic outcomes in glioma patients. A previous study has shown an association between therapeutic response based on RANO criteria and overall survival in glioma patients. However, the feasibility of applying RANO criteria in settings with limited resources has never been reported. This study aims to assess the feasibility of applying RANO criteria in clinical settings in Indonesia. This study also wants to see the role of the RANO criteria as a prognostic factor for gliomas in Indonesia. METHOD Data of glioma patients were retrospectively collected from Dharmais Cancer Hospital in Jakarta, Indonesia. Dharmais Cancer Hospital is the highest referral hospital for brain tumors in the country. Clinical and demographic data were collected from the medical record. RESULTS From 138 identified glioma patients from 2017 to May 2020, only 34 patients can be assessed using RANO criteria. The majority of the patients do not have post-surgical MRI that can be used as a baseline. Among 34 included patients, 38.2% were categorized as responsive, 23.5% as stable disease and 38.2% were categorized as progressive. Kaplan-Meier analysis showed that the median overall survival in the progressive group is significantly shorter than the median survival of responsive/stable group (21.2 vs. 57.5 months respectively, p=0.001). Multivariate cox regression analysis was performed to see the association of RANO criteria and other confounding variables (sex, age, glioma grade, glioma location, and therapy) with overall survival. The result showed that RANO progression was significantly associated with decreased survival (HR 18.38, p=0.045). CONCLUSION This retrospective analysis demonstrates the feasibility of applying RANO criteria in Indonesia and its association with overall survival.

Abstract:
Cynopterus spp. is a fruit bats genus that is widely distributed in Asia and plays an important role as pollinator and seed disperser of plants in different habitats. Haematological data is affected by sex, age, and external factors. It is also needed in examination of the health conditions, body defenses, and physiological conditions of bats. Complete haematological data of this genus in Indonesia remain a lack of information. This study aimed to analyze the haematological profile of Cynopterus spp. Bats were captured using mist nets at three different habitat types in the special region of Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Total 31 individuals from four species Cynopterus spp. were trapped. Blood samples were collected from the intracardiac. 20 parameters including the density of erythrocyte, leukocyte, and platelet profiles were analyzed. The result indicated red cell distribution width standard deviation counts between juvenile and adult, leukocyte number and platelet number between urban and non-urban of C. brachyotis were significantly different. Those results are presumed to be associated with age stage and environmental conditions. A large number of fruit bats individuals from different habitat is necessary for further study.

Background: Adolescents require life skills and individual and interpersonal abilities to grow into adults with a healthy lifestyle. Although the majority of the literature indicates that life skills increase teenagers’ cognitive, social, and emotional abilities, there is a lack of data correlating life skills to sexual risk behaviors. Objective: This study aimed to examine the relationship between life skills and sexual risk behaviors among adolescents aged 15–19 in Bandung, Indonesia. Methods: This study was conducted using a cross-sectional survey of 480 adolescents from April to May 2021. A representative sample was drawn from the students aged 15–19 years. The participants were selected using simple random sampling generated by computer software. Life Skill Training Questionnaire High School (LSTQ-HS) and sexual risk behaviors instruments were used for data collection, and logistic regression was used for data analysis. Results: From a total of 480 respondents, about 23.3% had masturbation experience, 25.8% had petting experience, 8.3% had sexual intercourse, 5% had sex before 18 years of age, and 4.2% had oral sex experience. Sexual risky behaviors were associated with unfavorable refusal skill (AOR = 6.46, 95% CI = 2.37, 17.53), assertiveness skill (AOR = 3.51, 95% CI = 1.32, 4.33), problem-solving skill (AOR = 5.35, 95% CI = 2.88, 11.39), and self-control skill (AOR = 7.31, 95% CI = 2.79, 17.24). Conclusion: Life skills are important protective aspects for those who engage in sexually risky behavior. Considering the study findings, tailored life skills programs are critical for adolescent wellbeing and risk reduction. Nurses who take a proactive role in providing sexual and reproductive health services may provide more accurate information and provide early screening and assessment for sexual and reproductive behavior to reduce risky sexual behavior among adolescents. Indonesia is a country that still holds the principle of heterosexual relations even though many countries have legalized same-sex marriage. In West Java, there are many lesbian groups. Social institutions indicate that there are at least 185 lesbians in Bandung who are members of 14 small groups of 10-20 people. This research is a descriptive ethnographic study using qualitative data. To obtain qualitative data, researchers prioritize data collection techniques in the form of in-depth interviews, to dig deep information from informants. Family and environmental factors greatly influence an individual's sexual orientation. Conflicts that occur in the family that involve disappointment with the figure of a father coupled with disappointment with the opposite sex become an amplifier for individuals to change their sexual orientation into lesbians. Abstract:
Background Indonesia is the only country in the Asia Pacific region where the incidence of HIV is still on the rise, and its prevalence is extremely high among the key populations such as men who have sex with men, transgender women, and people who inject/use drugs. Mobile health (mHealth) apps provide an innovative platform for delivering tailored HIV prevention and care among these populations more efficiently than possible through the direct face-to-face approach. Objective The aim of this study was to assess the role of a peer-customized mobile app based on the principle of self-learning for improving HIV prevention knowledge and access to health services among men who have sex with men, transgender women (known as Waria in Indonesia), and people who use drugs in Indonesia. Methods A prospective intervention cohort study was conducted among the key populations in five provinces of Indonesia (Jakarata, West Java, East Java, Special Region of Yogyakarta, and Bali). The data were evaluated using a pre-post assessment survey conducted on a sample of 200 unique users, including 50 men who have sex with men and transgender women each, and 100 people who use drugs, with a follow-up response rate of 98% and 70%, respectively. An mHealth app named RUMAH SELA was developed and implemented among the key populations. Results From baseline to the endpoint of the study, there was a significant increase in comprehensive HIV-related knowledge from 20% (10/49) to 60% (29/49), 22% (11/49) to 57% (28/49), and 49% (34/70) to 74% (52/70) among men who have sex with men (P=.004), transgender women (P<.001), and people who use drugs (P<.001), respectively. There was also a reduction in sexual activities without condom use from 22% (11/49) to 19% (9/49), 18% (9/49) to 12% (6/49), and 21% (15/70) to 10% (7/70) among men who have sex with men (P=.45), transgender women (P=.25), and people who use drugs (P<.001), respectively. There was an uptake of HIV testing by 31% (15/49) for men who have sex with men, 49% (24/49) for transgender women, and 26% (18/70) for people who use drugs after using the app. There was a reduction in injecting drugs with a used needle in drug users from 45/70 (78%) to 15/70 (26%). Measures of self-esteem increased among men who have sex with men (mean 26.4 vs mean 27.1), transgender women (mean 26.5 vs mean 27.8; P=.02), and people who use drugs (mean 24.0 vs mean 25.0). In addition, 27% (7/24) of men who have sex with men, 25% (4/15) of transgender women, and 11% (2/18) of drug users made an appointment for an HIV test through the app. The app was quite highly accepted by the key populations as nearly a quarter felt that they became more confident in discussing issues about sexuality, more than 80% found that the app provided sufficient knowledge about HIV, and more than half of the participants found the app to be user friendly. Conclusions This one-of-a-kind mHealth intervention with an mHealth app as a self-learning tool is effective in increasing HIV-related knowledge and behavior, and access to services with strong acceptability by the community. There is a need to scale up such interventions for efficacy testing in a larger population to provide evidence for national-level mHealth programs addressing HIV.

Abstract:
Background: Backpacker tourists are dominated by young people who have a high adventurous spirit and are happy with freedom. This makes backpacker tourists both local and foreign at risk to engage in risky sexual behavior. In adolescents and young adults, risky sexual behavior that occurs during holidays is also accompanied by an increase in alcohol consumption, that brings more complex health impacts. Lodging has a strong role in preventing risky behavior by backpacker tourists. Objectives: The aim of this study was to analyze the role of lodging managers in preventing transmission of HIV/AIDS in backpacker areas. Materials & Methods: In this qualitative research with a case-study approach, the participants were 20 informants who were selected by a purposive sampling method. Data were collected by in-depth interview and analyzed by content analysis. Results: The role carried out by the lodging manager to prevent HIV/AIDS transmission was identified as to refuse teenage guests who are sexually opposite couples rent a single room and not selling alcohol and condoms. Lodging also did not provide Female Sex Workers (FSW) services and rejected FSW requests from guests. Conclusion: This study identified the role of lodging manager in backpacker tourism area that was considered appropriate to reduce the risk of sexual behavior that can result in HIV/AIDS transmission.

Abstract:
Abstract Background Adenosine monophosphate (AMP)-activated protein kinase (AMPK; EC 2.7.11.31) enzymes play a pivotal role in cell metabolism. They are involved in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) pathogenesis. Genetic variation of PRKAA2 coding for the AMPK α2 catalytic subunit (AMPKα2) is reported to be associated with susceptibility for T2DM. Objectives To determine the association between PRKAA2 genetic variations (rs2796498, rs9803799, and rs2746342) with clinical characteristics in patients newly diagnosed with T2DM. Methods We performed a cross-sectional study including 166 T2DM patients from 10 primary health care centers in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. We measured fasting plasma glucose, hemoglobin A1c, serum creatinine, glomerular filtration rate, blood pressure, and body mass index as clinical characteristics. PRKAA2 genetic variations were determined by TaqMan SNP genotyping assay. Hardy–Weinberg equilibrium was calculated using χ2 tests. Results There was no difference in clinical characteristics for genotypes rs2796498, rs9803799, or rs2746342 (P > 0.05). No significant association was found between PRKAA2 genetic variations and any clinical feature observed. Further subgroup analysis adjusting for age, sex, and waist circumference did not detect any significant association of PRKAA2 genetic variations with clinical characteristics (P > 0.05). Conclusion PRKAA2 genetic variation is not associated with the clinical characteristics of Indonesian patients with newly diagnosed T2DM.

Abstract:
Hypothenar region is an area that is often contacts with surfaces during activities, and the ear is proven to be more consistent than face identification in passive biometrics. While, the teeth are hardest part in the human body which covered inside the oral cavity. These 3 parts of the body have a great role forensic identification especially in determining sex. The aim of this study is to know differences in correlation values in sex determination based on ridge density of hypothenar region of the palm, external ear anthropometric and canine index. This was a cross sectional study with observational analytic design, include 500 medical students in Kariadi Hospital Semarang Central Java Indonesia, age 21 - 26 years old, who are included in inclusion criteria, male (n = 250), female (n = 250). Ridge density is measured by calculating the average number of hypothenar palm ridge on the side of the top, middle and bottom; each area is 5×5 mm2 in measurement. External ear anthrophometric consists ear length, ear breadth, base auricular, lobe length and lobe width. Canine index is calculated by dividing mesiodistal width and intercanine distance in 4 regions. Spearman correlation test between ridge density of hypothenar region palm prints, external ear anthropometric, mandibular canine index and sex shows significant correlation with p-value = 0.000. There is no significant difference between maxillary canine index and sex (right maxillary p-value = 0.112 and left maxillary p-value = 0.082). There are differences in correlation values in sex determination based on ridge density of hypothenar region palm prints, external ear anthropometric and mandibular canine index. Ridge density of hypothenar region palm prints and ear length are show strong correlation in sex determination.
