Abstract:
The article substantiates the relevance of the introduction of the artistic component in the training of future technology teachers; attention is paid to clarifying the role of art education in the training of future teachers. It is established that the future teacher in the field of technological education must have professional competencies that increase the effectiveness of the design and technological activities, namely competencies in drawing and composition, basics of color, art history and costume history, understanding of artistic styles, have artistic and graphic competencies, etc. It is necessary to form these competencies in future technology teachers from the first years of study in higher education institutions, namely, to include in the curriculum special (elective) disciplines that can enrich students with theoretical and practical knowledge and skills in fine and decorative arts, design and design graphics. Emphasis is placed on the expediency of introducing art disciplines in the process of training specialists in the field of technological education and proving the need for readiness of technology teachers to implement the artistic component. The application of educational material of artistic direction in the process of designing and manufacturing clothes is analyzed, and the advantages of students’ use of professional competencies in the process of developing clothing models at different stages of design are revealed. The introduction of a selective course “Fundamentals of Drawing and Composition” is proposed and its effectiveness in the implementation of creative projects in sewing. It is established that the introduction of art education in the training of future technology teachers creates opportunities to bring the latter to a qualitatively new, modern level of education. Keywords: art; professional competencies; technological education; future technology teachers; design and technological activities; clothing design.

Abstract:
Using a frame harmonizing based approach, this paper examines paper defects. In the textiles industry, the quick cutting and sewing of fabric has resulted in a lot of small mistakes, making this task extremely difficult. Especially these deformities won't be quickly recognized by specialists as well as programming. A novel frame harmonizing method is used in our system to find flaws in the fabric production process. Transformation and filtering techniques are used for the inputted fabric image frame. The conventional outline extraction method Berkeley edge detector is used to extract the edge map. Contour-based features are extracted and classified by K-Nearest Neighbour (KNN) classifier. The experimentation with real-time data set produced the outstanding performance results when compared with state of the art methods.

Abstract:
Abstract A fabric fault detection scheme is implemented in this work using frame harmonizing-based approach. Many recent research works deliver the fabric defect detection techniques. But in the textiles industry, the fast process of fabric cutting and sewing, lots of auxiliary imperfections have emerged. Particularly these defects cannot be identified easily by experts as well as an automated system. In our system, a novel frame extraction technique is used to find the defects in the fabric production pipeline. The input fabric image frame is pre-processed by transformation and filtering techniques. In this work,a novel multi-directional and multi-scale outline extraction method is proposed to extract the edge map. Contour-based features are extracted and classified by K-nearest neighbor classifier. The experimentation with real-time dataset produced the outstanding performance results when compared with state of the art methods.

Zhu, Yuxiang, Yanjun Peng, and Arsineh Boodaghian Asl. "Dual Adaptive Adjustment for Customized Garment Pattern." Scientific Programming 2019 (March 10, 2019): 1–12. http://dx.doi.org/10.1155/2019/8069373.

Full text
Abstract:
We present a dual adaptive garment slice adjustment technique for automatic resizing of apparel products with variant body shapes, and this technique can quickly generate clothed characters. Our first contribution is to propose a novel fit evaluation method. When a 2D garment pattern and a 3D draped garment have the same triangle topology connection, we calculate the shape variable of each triangle and output heat map simultaneously. For sewing a pattern to a newly targeted human body, we propose a fully automatic adjustment method that conforms to the body structure and is composed of two stages. In the coarse auto adjustment (CAA) stage, we propose a method of controlling the size of a garment by the length of a bounding box in five parts of the human body. Then, the garment pattern is automatically adjusted using the measured dimension, by stretching or shrinking. In the fine auto adjustment (FAA) stage, boundary vertices control the shape in the adjustment process. For better matching with the body, the vertices of the garment pattern boundary are relocated with the calculated moving distance and moving direction. As demonstrated in the results, our method enables fully automatic adjustment, preserving the original pattern style of garments between characters with vastly body shapes. Compared with the state-of-art 2D editing method, our proposed approach leads to time saving, and it achieves realistic garment effect compared to auto fitting methods.

Abstract:
Forming one of the most important branches of our culture and traditional arts, embroidery was born by sewing in a decorative way and it is worth mentioning that it is as early as humanity. Embroidered clothing on the sculptures excavated and the narration that the daughter of Noah in Hebrew history wears an embroidered belt shows that this branch of art goes back to earlier times. Hand embroidery, which is the products of intelligence, skill and subtle wit, has reached the current time by preserving its value. Out of a great many embroidery techniques reaching large public masses, a technique called ‘German Embroidery’ was encountered in the researches carried out in the city of Kahramanmaras and its towns in the years 2013–2014. According to the information obtained from the source people in the research carried out in the city of Kahramanmaras, German Embroidery dating back to earlier times is not produced today; however, we are likely to find pillows, clothes and dresses embroidered with German Embroidery in houses. In the current paper, embroidery samples were determined in order to unveil this technique that was embroidered on any kind of cloth with a plain surface and it was aimed to make the embroidery alive and to promote it by analysing the way of embroidering. Abstract:
Various sewing activities are an appropriate step in improving children's fine motor skills, because they are used to express themselves. To produce interesting stitches really helps develop a child's imagination in improving their fine motor skills. PAUD Al-Quran Az-Zahra Banyurip Alit Pekalongan City on fine motor activities failed in various sewing materials, this can be seen from the work of children with a total of 20 children who got good grades only 5 children, only 4 children, and less than 11 children. The problem is the lack of physical fine motor skills of children in various sewing activities. This is because the media used is less varied so that children feel bored. So we need an active learning method using various media. The aim of this research is to improve children's fine motor skills in sewing with various media. The benefits are expected to contribute to the development of science. In carrying out the improvement of learning through two cycles. The results of observations and research in the second cycle increased more than the previous cycle. The results of the previous comparison had a success rate of only 45%, the first cycle was 65%, the second cycle reached a 95% success rate. So it can be concluded that sewing activities have a positive impact on fine motor development and can improve children's ability to sew with various media.

Abstract:
The resurgence of home-sewing has led to renewed academic interest in the area. Current research has found that home-sewing is a substitute for purchasing ill-fitting, poor-quality and unsustainable fast fashion. Home-sewers report that they find the practice a creative leisure activity and that home-sewing is an empowering activity. What has been less examined are reasons why sewers make historical clothing, as opposed to making modern designs. This article examines home-sewing via the lens of historical material culture. That is, is seeks to understand the reasons why people sew and wear anachronistic clothing. It does so via an international survey of over 200 participants. A range of complex social and historical factors emerge in this research, which posit that there exist broad cultural phenomena to explain this contemporary trend. Of the recent research conducted into the reasons and motivations of home-sewers, the focus is on the sewing of contemporary clothing. Conversely, this research examines the motivations for sewing and wearing anachronistic clothing. Leading home dressmaking pattern company Simplicity claims that for many home-sewers it is vintage patterns that lead them to undertake home-sewing. This suggests that there are different types of home dressmakers who are motivated by considerations beyond that uncovered by previous research.

Abstract:
This study examines the Singer Sewing Machine Company’s strategies for selling family sewing machines on a global scale. In marketing the sewing machine, the American-headquartered Singer focused on ornamental embroidery or “fancy” sewing, defining home sewing as art, to distance the company and the appliance from negative perceptions of women’s garment work as industrial manufacturing. Singer created its Embroidery Department in the early 1890s in response to consumers’ sewing preferences. The department reflects how the home became a site where global capitalism was constructed and articulated. Singer’s Embroidery Department had representatives in many countries, coordinating expositions and other advertising. In the case of Singer in Spain and the United States, women who took part in the department’s work were an essential part of the corporate-integrated operation. This article examines the relationship between Singer’s corporate strategies and gender and culture in Spain and the United States.

Abstract:

In the context of converging media technologies, the concept of mobile media embedded in wearable material was introduced. Wearable Computing, Fashionable Technology, and Smart Textile are being developed at the intersection of media, art, design, computer science, and engineering. However, in Germany, little research has been undertaken into Smart Textile in education1. Those activities are not realized at school in the context of artistic processes in general MINT2 education in classroom settings. In order to research the interplay of electronic textiles and wearable technology, hard and software tools, such as Arduino LilyPad, a programmable board designed for stitching into clothing and flexible applications are scrutinized. In the project, contemporary media art projects in the field of Fashionable Technology are explored to inspire interdisciplinary technology education. The project described in this paper engages girls in technology and engineering by integrating artistic processes as well as a more playcentric approach to technology and engineering education.

Abstract:
Sewing is one of the oldest textile arts which are still popular among the masses of India. Beyond being an art work, sewing serves as a source of livelihood for millions of people. In modern India the major part of the sewing industry is confined to the rural villages spread across the north and the north eastern states of India. Most of these villages are still to receive electricity and those of whom have, are sustaining on the verge of energy poverty. The operation of a sewing machine can be harnessed to produce electricity for small scale purposes. This can be used for charging batteries, mobile phones, lamps, emergency lights. The rotational aspect of the sewing machine wheel can be used to generate power. Power generation is facilitated by using an Alternator. The usage of an Alternator over a DC Motor or Dynamo has added advantages which are described in detail in due course. This paper is intended to present a method to generate power by effectively harnessing the rotational capability of a sewing machine wheel. The paper also deals with the advantages of using an alternator over other electricity generating devices.

Abstract:
The objective of this clinical case study is to describe the first clinical case of an intracranial sewing needle identified in veterinary medicine and to describe the second case of intracranial foreign body secondary to pharyngeal perforation. A one-year-old Maltese dog with acute haemorrhagical vomiting and seizure was evaluated. A cerebral CT scan revealed the presence of a sewing needle inserted into the nasopharynx, which perforated the caudal cranial fossa through the brainstem, cerebellum and caudal part of the forebrain. An emergency surgery was performed, the needle was removed and the dog recovered well during the following 72 hours. One month after the surgery, the dog was still fine. This clinical case reinforces the possibility of cranial perforation after sharp foreign body ingestion. Intracranial foreign body should be part of the differential diagnosis in dogs when acute digestive signs are associated with acute neurological complications.

Abstract:
As a Chinese-born woman living in the United States, Liu Beili is aware of the structurally, politically and representationally formulated intersectionality based on her national origin, ethnicity, language, gender and other factors. As a high-profile artist, Liu’s multimodal, polysemous and intermedial art reflects on the nuance that provides for understanding an intersectional immigrant’s sociocultural experience. Liu analogizes her femininity to water, which is resilient, and regards her art practices as the way to ‘better understand how migration and diaspora impact human experience through encounters and separations, displacements and assimilations, the intimacy of memories, and the gravity of time’. This article scrutinizes Liu’s relational art, social participation and civic engagement by focusing on three pieces of performance-based projects, all involving the traditionally feminine task of sewing. Through the simple act of sewing, Liu investigates multiple experiential discourses on the intersectional community: oppression, repression, displacement, disempowerment, self-empowerment, communication and reconciliation.

Abstract:
Fashion magazines contain hidden delights ripe for investigating. One can explore overt content and covert messages in fashion magazine advertising art by probing the periodical and its promotional images for historical or social clues and for the advertiser's manipulative methods. Art librarians can apply and encourage the use of analytical techniques in connection with fashion advertising art from any era or region of the world. The focus here is on a single firm, the Demorest Fashion and Sewing-Machine Company, best known for its paper sewing patterns, and how in a single volume of its monthly magazine it promoted the purchase of fashion goods in connection with a world's fair: the 1876 Centennial Exhibition in Philadelphia. Comparing a 19th-century fashion engraving with a related photograph; and viewing a magazine advertisement as a set of repeating patterns according to a 21st-century process, fractal-concept analysis, together yield a trove of information and prompt further ideas for alternate and peripheral lines of inquiry.

Abstract:
In the production of clothing and footwear, machine tools and semi-automatic machines are widely used. Sewing enterprises and factories of art products are partially equipped with single-needle semi-automatic embroidery machines with microprocessor control modules. Their main equipment is non-automated universal lockstitch sewing machines, chain sewing machines, zigzag stitch machines, in which embroiderers manually move the hoop with the workpiece during the embroidery process. One of the promising areas for improving sewing processes and multi-color embroidery is their automation through the use of mechatronic modules in the equipment used and semi-automatic embroidery machines. On equipment with mechatronic modules, the main operations are performed automatically, which reduces their labor intensity and improves the appearance of products due to higher stitching accuracy. The possibility of simultaneous maintenance of several semi-automatic machines by one operator increases labor productivity. A method for designing a mechatronic module for a thread trimming mechanism is proposed, which is based on calculated and experimental recommendations when designing new semi-automatic embroidery machines or upgrading those used in industrial enterprises.

Abstract:
Purpose. Street art has exploded: it pervades our back alleys, surrounds us at bus-stops, covers billboards, competes with advertising and generally serves as urban wallpaper in most cities. But what is street art? A far cry from mere graffiti, street art has gained some social acceptance, but it remains neither officially sanctioned like public art, nor institutionally condoned, like its more traditional artistic cousins in museums. Somewhere in between these two extremes, street art has emerged, occupying a metaphysically suspect grey area between illegal activity and bona fide art. This paper explores the nature of this emerging art form. Methods. The basis of the presented research was the following methods: analysis, synthesis, system analysis, deductive method and the method of comparative law. Results. Street art in modern society is a fairly popular type of activity, but there is no legal regulation of this area directly. The question is raised about the need to improve the methods of protecting the rights of authors to modern works of art and, in particular, to street art. There is a need for regulatory legal regulation in the field of copyright protection in the field of street art. It is proposed to clarify the existing legal norms in the field of intellectual property law, and in particular in the category of copyright, or to fill in the gaps by using the general principles of civil law. The problems of the implementation of copyright on the works of street art are studied, a distinction is made between legal and illegal works of street art. Discussion. The issue of creating separate regulations governing street art is quite controversial today. Taking into account the popularization of this area every day more and more, this problem is becoming more acute, it is necessary to understand how street art figures protect their violated rights and legitimate interests
