Abstract:

Objetivo: Comparar o efeito de exercícios de Pilates realizados no solo (PS) e na água (PA) sobre a glicemia de mulheres portadoras de diabetes tipo 2 (DM2). Métodos: Oito voluntárias (62,4 ± 7,9 anos) realizaram uma sessão de PS, PA e controle (CO) com duração de 30 min. A glicemia foi mensurada durante o repouso pré-sessão, imediatamente após (IA), aos 15 e 30 min da sessão e aos 15 min de recuperação após a sessão (15’rec). Resultados: Redução significativa (p < 0,05) da glicemia foi observada na sessão PA nos momentos IA (-41 mg/dl) e aos 15’rec (-57 mg/dl) quando comparada com o repouso pré-sessão. Porém, o mesmo não foi observado na sessão PS. Conclusão: A sessão de PA durante 30 min promoveu redução da glicemia capilar durante e nos primeiros 15’rec em mulheres portadoras de DM2, enquanto que a sessão PS não.Palavras-chave: diabetes mellitus, Pilates, glicemia.

Abstract:

The filtration activity of dense aggregations of bivalves can locally reduce the concentration of seston, potentially limiting production. Under these conditions, the currents that supply seston cannot offset ingestion by the bivalves and the carrying capacity is exceeded. We conducted a field and modelling study to examine factors affecting seston supply to a culture of suspended sea scallops (Placopecten magellanicus) in Whitehaven Harbour, Nova Scotia. Even though seston flux to the scallops was reduced by 40% due to the attenuation of flow by culture gear, a reduction in seston concentration was not observed. The field data were then used to parameterize a quasi two-dimensional advection-diffusion model that quantified the relationship between the tidally driven seston supply and consumption by scallops. The model predicted a minimal reduction in seston concentration (<5%) within the lease (80 × 50 m), consistent with field observations. However, expanding the lease to occupy the area available for cultivation (1000 × 250 m) reduced the seston concentration in the centre of the lease by 20-50%, potentially limiting growth. Modelling results emphasized that by altering the lease geometry (lease width to length ratio), the supply of seston can be optimized.

Abstract:

O evento aqui descrito teve por objetivo proporcionar uma aula diferente aos estudantes desta unidade marista, por meio de uma transmissão ao vivo para observação astronômica das crateras da Lua, captadas por um telescópio. A relativa acessibilidade do público escolar em questão aos meios das redes sociais (Facebook, neste caso) mostrou-se um aliado potencial como ambiente virtual de ensino e aprendizagem. Dentre as interações – aproximadamente 500 comentários – foi possível estabelecer um diálogo produtivo com os estudantes, que durou 60 minutos. Foram contextualizados diferentes campos da física, como a cinemática, ondulatória e óptica, aos principais conceitos da astronomia. O interesse, por parte do público que acompanhou a transmissão foi notável, e as mais de 2.300 visualizações sugerem que se trata de uma área do conhecimento que instiga a curiosidade da comunidade escolar em geral.

<span lang="IN">With the increasing understanding of how young children develop and learn, there has been a greater emphasis on the education of young children. This study aims to obtain a description of appropriate and inappropriate teaching methods developed in a kindergarten program, specifically in the village of South Meruya. This research is qualitative descriptive, using interview method to teaching method of kindergarten teacher. The subjects consisted of 8 kindergarten teachers, consisting of 4 teachers of kindergarten and 4 teachers of kindergarten. The results obtained from this research are the kindergarten teachers in Meruya Selatan Village have shown appropriate teaching methods developed in the kindergarten program almost on all components except the teaching strategy component (addressing the ideas conveyed by the children), content and curriculum approach (aesthetic expression), reciprocal relationship with parents, and program policies (teacher-child ratio). </span>

Abstract:

Although sources of seston are much more complicated in lakes compared to oceans, the influences of different sources on the spatiotemporal variations in seston stoichiometry are still underexplored, especially in large eutrophic floodplain lakes. Here, we investigated seston stoichiometric ratios across a typical large eutrophic floodplain lake (Lake Taihu, East China) over one year. In addition, we used the n-alkane proxies to examine the influence of the seston source on seston stoichiometry variation. Throughout the study, the average value of the C:N:P ratio of 143:19:1 across Lake Taihu was close to the canonical lake’s ratios (166:20:1). Similar to other eutrophic lakes, seston C:N ratios varied the least across all environments, but C:P and N:P ratios varied widely and showed a strong decreasing trend in ratios of N:P and C:P from growing season to senescence season. This seasonal change was mainly associated with the decreasing contribution from algal-derived materials in seston pools because the non-algal dominated seston exhibited significantly lower ratios than algal-dominated seston. Furthermore, the spatial heterogeneity of stoichiometric ratios was also related to the seston source. During the senescence season, the terrestrial-dominated seston from agricultural watershed exhibited the lowest ratios in estuary sites compared with other areas. Statistically, the predictive power of environmental variables on stoichiometric ratios was strongly improved by adding n-alkanes proxies. Apart from source indicators, particulate phosphorus (PP) contents also partly explained the spatiotemporal variations in stoichiometric ratios. This study, thus, highlights the utility of multiple-combined n-alkane proxies in addition to simple C:N ratios to get more robust source information, which is essential for interpreting the spatiotemporal variations in seston stoichiometric ratios among eutrophic floodplain lakes and other freshwater ecosystems.

Abstract:

My contribution focuses on a photo collection dedicated to Sesto San Giovanni, a medium-sized city north of Milan that became the fifth largest industrial district in Italy after WWII. Built around the beginning of the 20th century, its heavy industries were dismantled before that century drew to its close. Closely connected to a campaign of interviews conducted by historians and social anthropologists, the images under consideration aim to relate the photographic representation of former industrial spaces in Sesto as they are today to the oral testimonies and memories gathered between 2013 and 2015. The article elaborates on several points: it briefly sketches the reasons why Sesto San Giovanni is a relevant place to study structural change and deindustrialisation; defines the nature of the visual documentation we gathered during our oral history project; describes the context where this evidence has been conceived and collected; and attempts some suggestions to understand where the fascination that emanates from these images lies, and what contemporary viewers can perceive from them as part of a large deindustrial ruin imagery, something becoming a “global genre”.

Abstract:

A execução de protocolos de alongamento estático reduz o desempenho de atividades máximas dependentes de força e potência tais como saltos, arremessos e levantamentos (ex. 1RM). Entretanto, seu efeito em repetições submáximas levadas até a falha concêntrica de grupos musculares sinérgicos é pouco conhecido. Portanto o objetivo do presente estudo foi verificar o efeito agudo do AE na amplitude de movimento passiva (ADMP) e no volume absoluto em uma sessão de treinamento de força para o peitoral maior (PM) e deltoide anterior (DA). A amostra foi composta por 11 homens saudáveis (idade: 24,4 ± 3,6 anos; estatura: 174,8 ± 4,4 cm; massa: 83,4 ± 9,8 kg). Os sujeitos foram testados em duas condições experimentais. Em sessões aleatorizadas os sujeitos realizaram uma sessão de treinamento de força após realizarem um protocolo de alongamento de 6 séries de 45” e 15” de intervalo a 70-90% da percepção subjetiva de desconforto para os adutores horizontais do ombro (Com Alongamento [COMA]) ou após permanecerem sentados pelo mesmo período de tempo (Sem Alongamento [SEMA]). A sessão para o PM e DA foi composta de 5 séries de 10RM com 1’ de intervalo entre as séries e 2’ entre os exercícios pecdeck, crossover e crucifixo com halteres. Os resultados mostram que na condição COM-A foi observado maior ADMP pré-sessão comparada com basal (P=0,0380) e pós-sessão de treinamento (P=0,001). Na condição SEM-A foi observada redução da ADMP pós-sessão de treinamento quando comparado ao basal (P=0,037) e pré-sessão (P=0,016). O volume absoluto do primeiro exercício e da sessão não diferiu significantemente entre condições (P=0,184). Conclui-se que a realização do alongamento estático não afetou o volume absoluto na sessão de treinamento para o peitoral maior e deltoide anterior, aumentou a ADMP da abdução horizontal do ombro e evitou a queda de ADMP Pós-sessão observada na condição SEM-A.

Abstract:

The concentration of trace elements (Fe, Mn, Cr, Co, Ni, Cu, Pb, Cd, As) through the planktonic food chain of the White Sea have been studied by the experimental approach. The experiment included zooplankton sampled in a reference area feeding on a seston contained the different trace metals concentrations. Seston sampled in the st. Chupa was enriched by Fe, Cu, Pb, Cr, Co, As, and Ni comparing to the seston from st. Kartesh (reference area). The differences in the concentrations of the suspended particular matter and of the indicator elements of a terrigenous admixture (Al, Ti, Zr) evidence on higher natural background of the trace metals’ content in the seston from st. Chupa due to higher contribution of the minerals. Zooplankton that fed on the seston characterised by higher trace elements’ content has accumulated Fe, Mn, and Cr, at a less degree, Ni, Co, Pb, and Cu; particularly, these were the elements which content were high in seston. Despite Mn content in seston did not differ between two treatments, this element was accumulated by the zooplankton, but had low content in faecal pellets. This tells about the highest Mn assimilation by the zooplankton; this element may become the most bioavailability. When comparing the trace element content between the seston and the faecal pellets, the concentrations of the most elements in faecal pellets are lower comprising as low as Zn – 72%; Mn – 24; Cu – 97; Pb – 62; Cr – 99; Co – 78; Ni – 87; As – 96; Cd – 65% of the concentration in the seston.

Modelo: Estudo intervencional, prospectivo e quantitativo. Objetivo: Analisar o comportamento da pressão arterial (PA) e duplo produto (DP) de idosos hipertensos, após uma sessão de Tai Chi Chuan (TCC). Métodos: Participaram do estudo 20 idosos hipertensos em que as variáveis hemodinâmicas foram medidas pré-sessão de TCC e sessão controle (sem exercício), e monitorada durante 60 minutos após término da sessão de TCC e controle. Foi respeitado um intervalo de 7 dias entre uma sessão e outra. Resultados: Após término da sessão de TCC, a frequência cardíaca permaneceu elevada por 30 minutos retornado aos valores pré-exercício a partir do 40° minuto. Observou-se redução significativa da pressão arterial média (PAM) a partir do 10° minuto, e redução significativa da pressão arterial sistólica (PAS) e diastólica (PAD) a partir do 20° minuto até o 60° minuto após sessão de TCC (p<0,001). Houve redução em relação aos valores pré-exercício de aproximadamente -22/-18 mmHg para PAS e PAD respectivamente (p<0,001). Observou-se redução significativa do duplo produto (DP) a partir do 30° minuto, continuando a reduzir até o 60° minuto após TCC (p<0,001). A magnitude de redução do DP comparado ao momento pré-exercício foi na ordem de 1675 (p<0,001). Conclusão: Esses achados sugerem que única sessão de TCC promove hipotensão pós-exercício (HPE) e reduz a sobrecarga cardíaca em idosos com HAS.

Abstract:

Ingestion and assimilation rates of simullid (Diptera) larvae feeding on natural seston were estimated in an artificial stream and used to predict the impact of simuliids on seston transport in a 40-m section of the outlet stream of Petit Lac Fraser in southern Quebec. This prediction was then compared with changes in the seston flux above and below the population. Finally, we selectively killed simuliids with a larvicide (Bacillus thuringiensis serovar. israelensis) to observe changes in seston transport after removal of simuliids. The stream population of simuliid larvae ingested between 32 and 55% of the seston flux and assimilated between 17 and 25% of the dry mass of ingested seston. The change in assimilation of seston in the stream section before and after the larvicide treatment was similar to that predicted from assimilation rate of larvae and standing stock. Larvae ingested 0.8–1.4% of the seston per linear meter of stream, about 10–1000 times more than what has been reported for other populations of stream filter-feeders. The high values observed can be explained by high specific ingestion rates, high standing stock, and low discharge. Our results suggest that simuliid populations can be food limited and may help to explain the downstream decrease in abundance and growth rates of filter-feeders in lake outlets.

OBJETIVO: Avaliar se a repetição de manobras de Epley em uma mesma sessão resulta em um menor número de sessões para abolir o nistagmo de posicionamento do que uma única manobra por sessão. MÉTODO: A manobra de Epley foi realizada em 123 pacientes com VPPB unilateral por ductolitíase do canal posterior. O grupo I foi composto por 75 pacientes submetidos a uma única manobra de Epley por sessão semanal e o grupo II foi constituído por 48 pacientes submetidos a quatro manobras na primeira sessão. RESULTADOS: O grupo II apresentou latência e duração do nistagmo maiores do que o grupo I (p<0,05). A média e o desvio-padrão do número de sessões apresentados pelo grupo I foram maiores do que no grupo II (p=0,008). Observou-se associação significante entre a distribuição do número de sessões e o grupo (p=0,039). O grupo II apresentou 21,4% a mais de pacientes que necessitaram apenas de uma sessão (IC 95% [7,7% - 35,1%]). CONCLUSÃO: A repetição de manobras de Epley em uma mesma sessão resulta em um menor número de sessões para abolir o nistagmo de posicionamento do que uma única manobra por sessão.

The planktonic cladocerans Ceriodaphnia richardi, Daphnia gessneri, and Daphnia birgei inhabit the limnetic and littoral zones of Lake Monte Alegre, where the former species tends to be abundant. Laboratory experiments were carried out to investigate the competition for seston of the limnetic and littoral zones in cladocerans using life table data. In experiment 1, the species C. richardi and D. gessneri were fed seston from the limnetic zone (1–1.29 mg C L−1); in experiment 2, the species C. richardi and D. birgei were fed seston from the littoral zone. Despite the relatively high concentration of sestonic algae (0.96–1 mg C L−1), with predominance of nanoplankton, C. richardi outcompeted D. gessneri in the experiment with the limnetic seston. The species C. richardi and D. birgei benefited from the presence of each other in the experiment with littoral seston, where nanoplankton predominated, with increases in some parameters of the life table. D. birgei, however, showed better reproductive performance than C. richardi. A comparison between the results of the experiments suggests that the seston of the limnetic zone, in terms of quantity and quality, is better for C. richardi than the littoral seston.

Slope failures developed in crystalline rocks of the Hrubý Jeseník Mts. (Czechia) are quite sparse phenomenon. So far, only a few deep-seated landslides have been described from areas near Keprník Mt. and Červená hora Mt., while shallow flood- related flows are more frequent. The newly identified Kutiště rockslide (GPS 50.1437297N, 17.0563289E) is located in the village of Jindřichov (Šumperk District, the Olomouc Region, Czechia) about 1 km northeast of Štolný hřbet Mt. (883 m a. s. l.) within the Hrubý Jeseník Mts. The rockslide has been geomorphologically mapped and structural analysis and geophysical measurements using electrical resistivity tomography have been carried out to interpret surface and subsurface structure of the landslide. It is a planar rockslide developed in biotitic orthogneiss of the Keprník Nappe, covering an area of approximately 0.13 km2 (ca. 500 × 250 m) with a total altitude difference of about 140 m. The landslide is dominated by a morphologically very distinct amphitheatre-like headscarp. The approximately 300 m long and relatively compact transport zone of the slide is dissected by several transverse fissures and tension cracks, and it is delimited towards the bedrock by a planar sliding surface at depths of 10–17 m. The accumulation part of the landslide, about 150 m long, has further collapsed by gravity. The resistivity image in this part indicates a sliding surface at a depth of about 25 m. The structural data indicate that the slope failure was structurally predisposed by an orthogonal system of longitudinal (NNW-SSE) and transverse (ENE-WSW) brittle structures, and the hillslope-conformal metamorphic foliation of orthogneiss inclined at an angle of 11° towards N to NNW. The resistivity image of the rockslide does not exclude the presence of deeper sliding surfaces throughout the entire extent of the slope deformation, which would enable its further development. The morphologically fresh appearance of the landslide is not necessarily a result of low age, but rather of the strong resistance of the orthogneiss to weathering.

Investigando os efeitos de histórias experimentais sobre o seguimento de regras discrepantes das contingências, nove universitários foram expostos a um procedimento de escolha de acordo com o modelo; a tarefa era apontar cada um dos três estímulos de comparação, em seqüência. Cada condição era constituída de quatro sessões. As contingências na Sessão 1 eram alteradas na Sessão 2, restabelecidas na Sessão 3 e mantidas inalteradas na Sessão 4, iniciada com a regra discrepante. As três condições diferiam quanto à forma de estabelecimento do comportamento alternativo ao especificado pela regra discrepante. Independentemente de como o comportamento foi estabelecido na Sessão 1, se por contingências (Condição 1) ou por regras (Condições 2 e 3), somente os participantes que responderam corretamente nas Sessões 2 e 3 (n = 7) deixaram de seguir a regra discrepante na Sessão 4. Discutem-se algumas das características que uma história experimental deve apresentar para interferir no seguimento de regras discrepantes.

Abstract:

O objetivo do estudo foi analisar a percepção subjetiva do esforço (PSE), resposta afetiva (RA) e pressão arterial pós-exercício em sessão aguda de Tai Chi Chuan (TCC). Vinte e quatro mulheres (47-79 anos; 9 normotensas e 15 hipertensas) foram submetidas a uma sessão de TCC e uma sessão controle (delineamento cruzado). A PSE foi avaliada pela escala de Borg (CR10), a RA pela escala de valência afetiva (+5/-5) e a pressão arterial (PA) pelo método oscilométrico (5, 10, 25, 20, 25 e 30 min pós-sessão). Redução significante da PA sistólica foi identificada aos 20 e 25 min após a sessão de TCC somente nas hipertensas. Os valores de RA e PSE foram +2,8 ± 1,9 e 3,5 ± 1,2, respectivamente. Os resultados sugerem que uma sessão de TCC de intensidade moderada foi prazerosa para as voluntárias (hipertensas e normotensas), embora tenha induzido discreto efeito hipotensor agudo na PA sistólica somente das hipertensas.

ABSTRACTCounter to findings in English, German and Hebrew, recent acquisition studies have shown that the passive is acquired early in several non-Indo-European languages. In an attempt to explain this phenomenon, this paper addresses certain typological phenomena which influence the early acquisition of passives in Sesotho, a southern Bantu language. After outlining the structure of the Sesotho passive and its syntactic and discourse functions, I examine Sesotho-speaking children's spontaneous use of passives, showing that the acquisition of passives in Sesotho is closely linked to the fact that Sesotho subjects must be discourse topics. I conclude that a detailed examination of how passive constructions interact with other components of a given linguistic system is critical for developing a coherent and universally applicable theory of how passives are acquired.

Values of δ15N and δ13C natural abundance in seston were compared in two Adirondack lakes that differed with respect to water column NO3- concentration. Seston δ15N values in Arbutus Lake averaged 2.5 ± 0.18 (mean ± SE) and 2.7 ± 0.15 at 2 and 6 m depth, respectively. NO3- concentrations in Arbutus Lake were generally low (range 0-13 µM) with greatly decreased concentrations during the summer; temporal changes in seston δ15N values and water column NO3- concentrations were inversely correlated. NO3- concentrations in Dart's Lake were higher (range 12.9- 22.4 µM) and the magnitude of the decreased summer NO3- concentration lower. Seston δ15N values in Dart's Lake averaged 1.3 ± 0.12 and 1.1 ± 0.07 at depths of 6 and 14 m, respectively. There was no significant correlation between seston δ15N values and water column NO3- concentration in Dart's Lake. Average seston δ13C values in Arbutus Lake and Dart's Lake were -29.8 and -28.7, respectively. More information about the distribution of stable isotopes for a wide variety of freshwater systems is needed to increase our understanding of the patterns observed in this study.

The seston of the small, shallow, and tropical lake Monte Alegre was tested for quantity and quality for cladocerans by growth bioassays, which were carried out in spring (Daphnia gessneri and Moina micrura), summer (D. gessneri, M. micrura, Ceriodaphnia cornuta, and Simocephalus mixtus), and winter (D. gessneri and D. ambigua). Cohorts of newborns originating from ovigerous females collected in the lake or from laboratory cultures were submitted, at a room temperature of 23ºC to the following treatments: (1) the chlorophytes Ankistrodesmus falcatus and/or Scenedesmus spinosus; (2) lake seston; and (3) lake seston + chlorophytes. Growth rate, clutch size, and fecundity were evaluated. Seston alone was not the best food for promoting cladoceran growth. There were seasonal differences in food quantity and quality with spring and summer seston being better for growth than that of the winter. Adding chlorophytes to the seston increased clutch size and fecundity for most species in summer and winter, but not in spring. Energy limitation seems to be the most important factor influencing cladoceran growth in summer and especially in winter.

Abstract:

Este estudo analisou as alterações metabólicas, cardiovasculares e motivacionais de adultos jovens submetidos a uma sessão de boxe real e virtual, utilizando o console Xbox360º com Kinect. Em um estudo experimental cruzado, 10 adultos jovens saudáveis, de ambos os sexos, eutróficos (idade: 21±1 anos; IMC: 23±1kg/m2; VO2pico: 25,5±5,9mL/kg/min) foram submetidos aleatoriamente a sessões de boxe real (saco de areia) e virtual (Kinect Sports Boxe) com duração de 15 minutos cada, separadas por 24h. Mensurou-se frequência cardíaca média (FCM) e máxima (FCmax) durante as sessões e pressão arterial sistólica (PAS) e diastólica (PAD) antes e após as sessões. O gasto energético (GE) e o consumo de oxigênio foram estimados a partir da intensidade e duração das sessões. Ao final de cada sessão, registraram-se a percepção subjetiva de esforço (PSE) e o grau de satisfação/motivação. A sessão de boxe real apresentou maior GE, consumo de oxigênio e FCM comparada à sessão virtual (P0,05). A sessão real proporcionou maior PSE comparada à sessão virtual (P=0,008), mas a motivação/satisfação foi similar (P=0,391). Conclui-se que apesar de as alterações fisiológicas terem sido maiores na sessão “real”, caso o sujeito não tenha a opção de sair de casa para treinar o boxe real ou apresente condições clínicas específicas, o virtual, apresenta-se viável. Além disso, em virtude de a pressão arterial, FCmax e motivação à prática apresentarem-se semelhantes à sessão “real”, indica-se o boxe virtual como uma prática de variabilidade ao treino dos praticantes de boxe.

Salah satu tempat wisata kurang dikenal oleh masayarakat yaitu wisata anton telu. Kurangnya promosi tempat wisata dan lebih fokus pada keunggulan kulinernya. Media online menjadi pilihan sebagai sarana promosi khususnya instagram mengingat jumlah pengguna internet yang meningkat setiap saat. Tujuan sosialisasi yaitu memberikan pengetahuan dan pengarahan kepada masyarakat untuk mengenalkan media sosial Instagram sebagai sarana untuk memperomosikan wisata Anton Telu. Lokasi kegiatan sosialisasi yaitu di wisata Anton telu, Lombok Barat, Kecamatan Narmada, Provinsi Nusa Tenggara Barat dengan melibatkan sebelas masyarakat desa sesaot dengan sosialisasi pendidikan yang menggunakan metode diskusi, tanya jawab, pratik penggunaan sosial media. Hasil kegiatan sosialisasi yaitu masyarakat desa sesaot khusus sekitar tempat wisata anton telu mendapatkan pengetahuan mengenai manfaat mempromosikan tempat wisata yang dikelolah di media sosial. Selain itu masyarakat desa sesaot mendapat pengetahuan mengenai teknik editing gambar dan video agar terlihat menarik saat di promosikan serta strategi promosi di media sosial khususnya instragram. Dari kegiatan ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa pelaksanaan kegiatan berjalan dengan baik karena adanya kerjasama dengan berbagai pihak yang ada dilokasi sasaran yaitu, kepala desa sesaot, pengelolah tempat wisata anton telu, dan masayrakat sasaran dan masyarakat desa sesaot mengharapkan adanya sosialisasi lanjut terkait penggunaan aplikasi untuk membuatan video dan gambar untuk menunjang promosi tempat wisata Anton telu.
