Marques, Ana Catarina Ramos. "Endodontia: sessão única versus múltiplas sessões." Master's thesis, [s.n.], 2014. http://hdl.handle.net/10284/4362.
One of the main goals of Endodontic treatment is the attempt to achieve leading the root canal system to an aseptic environment, which is achieved through the elimination of the microorganisms that are harmful to the healing of tissues, allowing this way the healing of the infection and subsequent restoration of the tooth function. Endodontic treatment, whether recommended in one or in multiple sessions, aims to create optimal conditions for the tridimensional filling and sealing of the root canals. Thus, the selection of the type of endodontic treatment must be based, first, in a rigorous evaluation of the tooth itself, as far as its pathophysiological pulp and periapical condition, accessibility, morphological characteristics of the root canals and restorability are concerned. One of the most discussed issues is whether endodontic treatment in one session, enables one to get such conditions that allow the required mechanical and biological objectives to be achieved. In this context, in which nowadays hangs the controversy and the uncertainty about what the most suitable procedure for clinical practice is, the aim of this work, after carrying out a review of the existing scientific literature, was trying to understand whether it is more appropriate to start treatment and finish it in the same session or proceed with the filling in a second session. Today, due to the advances in the instrumentation and irrigation techniques, which have turned the endodontic treatment in a shorter period of time most effective, a Single Visit is increasingly recommended by health professionals. The success will be ensured if the clinical procedures are fully performed and if the type of modality chosen results of the reflection of the characteristics of each particular case.

Full textThe Multidimensional System for coding Behaviors in Therapist-Client Interaction (SiMCCIT), developed by Zamignani and Meyer, intend to describe what happens in psychotherapy sessions using behavioral categories of therapists and clients. The question that this study intended to answer was if this system is able to identify differences between successful and unsuccessful therapies. The assessment of therapy success was made with a mixed criterion defined by: (a) the results of the Working Alliance Inventory (WAI); (b) presence of improved behavior and analysis and (c) report of other changes in client behavior. In the total of 25 therapies with the first four sessions audio recorded, six were considered successful, six unsuccessful and 13 intermediate. The fourth sessions of successful and unsuccessful therapies were categorized. The data suggest some differences between the successful and unsuccessful therapy sessions, although not statistically significant. In the successful therapy sessions it was noted that: the category Request Report tended to be slightly more frequent in all sessions, the category Request showed a slightly higher percentage, and there was a positive correlation between Facilitation and Empathy. In the sessions of unsuccessful therapies it was found that: clients reported more or less than in successful therapies, the more clients reported more therapists facilitated their reports and that the more therapist asked reflections, the more goals clients proposed to undertake. Because the differences in categorization were not statistically significant in cases considered different it was concluded that the axis of vocal verbal behavior of SiMCCIT did not differentiate the successful from unsuccessful therapies. Some variables hampered the ability of the system to differentiate between sessions of successful and unsuccessful therapies: the reduced number of the sample and the use of only one of the axes of the system. It was discussed the need to expand the sample and use other axes of the system, such as themes

"Fast cross-session speaker diarization." Doctoral thesis, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, 2015. http://hdl.handle.net/10803/309290.
Full textToday, massive amounts of audiovisual content are being generated, stored, released and delivered, in part due to the virtually unlimited storage capacity, the access to the necessary media to produce them by anybody and anywhere, and the ubiquitous connectivity provided by the Internet. In this context, suitable, affordable and sustainable content management which enables searching and retrieving information of interest is a must. Since manual handling of such amount of data is intractable, it is here where speech processing techniques may play a crucial role in the automatic tagging and annotation of audiovisual content. The task of speaker diarization (also known as the “who spoke when” task) has become a key process as a supporting technology for further speech processing systems, such as automatic speech recognition and automatic speaker recognition, used for the automatic extraction of metadata from spoken documents. Among the massive amount of audiovisual content being created, there can be recurrent speakers who participate in several sessions within a collection of audiovisual sessions. For instance, in TV and radio content one can frequently find recurrent speakers such as public figures, journalists, presenters, anchors, and so on. Due to the local nature of current speaker diarization technology (systems work on a single-session basis), an arbitrary recurrent speaker will likely receive different local abstract identifiers among the different sessions where he/she participates. In this situation, it would be more meaningful that the recurrent speakers receive the same global, abstract ID along all sessions. This task is known as cross-session speaker diarization. Current state-of-the-art speaker diarization systems have achieved very good performance, but usually at the cost of long processing times. This limitation on execution time makes current systems not suitable for large-scale, real-life applications, and becomes even more evident in the task of cross-session speaker diarization. In this thesis, the fast speaker diarization approach based on binary key speaker modeling is taken to a next level with the aim of bringing it closer to state-of-the-art performance while preserving high speed rates that enable the processing of large audio collections in competitive times. Furthermore, a new cross-session speaker diarization system based on binary key speaker modeling is proposed by following the same previously established goals: competitive performance with short execution times. As a result of this thesis, we propose a new improved single-session speaker diarization system which exhibits a 16% relative improvement in performance with regard to a baseline binary key system (15.15% DER opposed to 18.22% DER, being DER the diarization error rate), while being 7 times faster (0.035xRT against 0.252xRT, being xRT the real-time factor) and 28 times faster than real time. As for cross-session speaker diarization, in this thesis we propose a binary system whose performance is just slightly below (3.5% absolute DER) the performance of its single-session counterpart, while presenting a real-time factor of 0.036xRT. Furthermore, our approach has been shown to successfully scale for processing audio collection of several hundreds of hours.

Full textStudies indicate that couples with or without conflicts have precisely the same types of problems, and that what differentiates them, are their abilities of communication and solution of problems. Although some investigators treat training and problem solving training as one module, the two types of training are quite different as to what concerns procedure and concept. Considering that many clients that look for therapeutic help only attend an single session, and that couples are more demanding concerning the speed of results, any progress obtained in the first session could contribute to treatment adherence or could even be the only chance the therapist has to promote significant changes in the couple's life. The general objective of the present project was to explore the effects of two interventions in single sessions of couple therapy, one focusing on communication and the other on problem solving. Six couples participated in the study, divided in two groups: one group receiving the communication-focused intervention (group A) and another receiving the problem solving focused intervention (group B). The results of group A suggest that it is possible, with a single session, to effectively improve the communication of the couple. However, the teaching of problem solving strategies did not result in improvement. More studies are necessary to improve the techniques. single session couple therapy, communication and problem solving training.

The Irish singing session has provided a safe community where singers of all abilities are welcome to share with and learn from one another. Through British occupation and into independence, the Irish session has transformed tremendously from its original form. Still, the session carries on the Irish tradition of music learning and enculturation through oral transmission. Singing sessions provide a unique opportunity for the many songs of Irish history to be sung and learned; passed down from generation to generation! Singers learn new songs through listening to and watching other singers, imitating material, experimenting with new ideas, and discussing musical performances with others. Session leaders may attempt to create an encouraging and accepting environment where singers feel secure, resulting in the unbridled sharing of singers’ deep connections with a song. Such methods, including personal choice and a safe environment, have been observed through field research and have shown to positively affect singers and communities related to singing sessions in County Clare, Ireland. In this study, I pose that the methods used in singing sessions may also be beneficial when adapted for use in the music classroom.

Full textThis work considers policies for Web servers based on sessions, aiming at the guarantees of Quality of Service (QoS) to the systems users. Two types of policies are considered: the responsible for the differentiation of services and the responsible for the admission control. Some scheduling algorithms had been developed to offer better services for the priority sessions: the Session Based Scheduling Algorithm (SBSA) and the Session Based Scheduling Algorithm with Differentiation of Services (SBSA-DS). In relation to the admission control, two new policies had been considered, which use different parameters to help the decisions and have as objective guarantee the finalization of as many priority sessions as possible. From the obtained results of the experiments realized by mean of simulation, it is evidenced that the use of the developed algorithms and policies improves the attendance of the sessions that deserve preferential service. Therefore, in Web servers worried in the guarantee the QoS for their users, which interact with the system by sessions, the use of these new techniques reveals adequate

Full textThis thesis investigates the discursive practices in systemic family therapy sessions. It focuses on the (re)construction of meanings in such therapeutic discourse, by focusing on what, within the therapeutic field, is known as re-signification and by attempting to consider critically the patient\'s request for help and the therapist\'s act of helping. It investigates also the subjects\' social/family places - including a certain representation by the therapist - when interacting at the therapy. Starting from the Bakhtinian notion of dialogism, which is revisited in the studies on enunciative heterogeneities by Authier-Revuz, the frontiers of otherness - evinced in the \"therapy session\" discourse gender - are observed, specifically in pieces of dialogues taken from three family therapy sessions held in teaching and research institutes (two of them autonomous institutions and a federal autarchy). Such discourse gender, which, in its surface might be understood as meeting aimed at therapeutic ends for discussing themes of human conflicts in relational situation, constitutes, however, a clash of voices that dispute family and social roles/places. The analyses reveal that the frontiers, circumscribed by the alternation of speaking subjects, between questions and answer of the therapists and their patients, consist of a process of social voices interaction, throughout continuous intercrossings and reconfigurations. The analyses demonstrate also that the therapists formulate hypotheses for the intervention in the family conflicts through the meaning slides (re-signification) and that they seek, for solving such conflicts, the enunciative displacing of the patients\' voices from a monological position (even though witnessed) to dialogical positions.

The formal analysis process consists of several distinct stages: the creation of a detailed informal protocol description, analyzing that description to reveal assumptions and areas of interest not directly addressed in the protocol description, the transformation of that description and the related assumptions into a formal Strand Space representation, analyzing that representation to reveal assumptions and areas of interest, and concluding with an application of John Millen's automated Constraint Checker analysis tool to the Strand Space representations under an extremely limited set of conditions to prove certain protocol secrecy properties.

Full textThe background for this masters thesis is the threat of session hijacking in public wireless networks. A public wireless network in this context is a network such as Wireless Trondheim where users with WLAN enabled devices can connect for a small fee for a given period of time. These kind of networks relies on having a high degree of user friendliness to reach users with average knowledge in computers and wireless networks. There is always a struggle between user friendliness and security and the downside to the user friendliness in these kind of networks is poor security. Many of these networks only use the unique identifier (MAC address) of the network device to identify users and grant them access. A person with some technical knowledge about wireless networks and less then honest intentions may exploit this weak security barrier and impersonate the legitimate user by duplicating the MAC address. The practical part of this master thesis starts with the setup of a test bench with three computers, an attacker, a legitimate client and a passive monitor. A MAC spoofing attack was performed on the production network to prove that this kind of attack is easy to perform. The attack was first done with Backtrack which is a specialized penetration testing OS and the same type of attack was done in Windows to also prove that it does not require specialized tools. The attacker was able to gain access to the Internet without going through the web page for authentication. The thesis also proposes some countermeasures against this kind of attack. They are session ID, MAC sequence number tracking and monitoring physical properties such as received signal strength and RTS-CTS handshake round trip times. The thesis presents some thoughts on how they can be implemented in the wireless Trondheim network and what the major difficulties of each of them might be. The thesis also makes an evaluation of how well each of them fit with Wireless Trondheims requirements for countermeasures against the attacks done in this thesis.

In this thesis, a multi-functional vacuum lamination machine which laminated touch panel and liquid-crystal display (LCD) panel by optically clear adhesive (OCA) is been developed. The prototype machine is fabricated, tested and verified after concept design, mechanical design, visual alignment system design and hardware and software application. During the machine development, a novel lower chamber module of vacuum lamination is proposed that using linear stages of upper and lower position to visual align and vacuum laminate simultaneously. By applying the module, the process speed and the machine volume are enhanced and decreased, respectively. Meanwhile, the function of high speed atmospheric lamination for lamination of touch panel and OCA is also integrated and added in the this machine. In addition, this thesis designs a novel rotary mechanism which controls the lamination alignment by using linear driver and linkage mechanism. The lamination accuracy is enhanced successfully according to the mathematical models of the rotary mechanism. The results indicate that the lamination accuracy, repeatability, throughput and yield rate are greatly enhanced using the novel multi-functional lamination machine. Moreover, the cost is reduced clearly through evaluation, optimization and strict selection of the appropriate components. Therefore, this thesis can provide the promotion of related basic works in the aspect of vacuum laminating technology and future equipment exploitation on academia and industry.

Since the lifting of the municipal government, Kinmen turned to promote the tourism industry in order to enhance economic development. In 2016, the national army transferred the two islands (namely Dadan and Erdan) to Kinmen County government. The Kinmen County government considered to open the Dadan Island for sightseeing. The integration of Dadan tourism resources in terms of the status quo is able and possible to create a differentiated sightseeing attraction and attract tourists to visit the island. In order to do so, it is important to understand tourists' expectation and reflect these needs in the design of tourism service on the island so as to enhance the tourist satisfaction after the visit. In addition to the literature, the research suggests that the tourist attraction of Kinmen is the unique battlefield cultural history of Kinmen and the early military fortifications. This study starts from the perspective of tourists' needs, and utilizes the core of gamification to design questionnaire. The method of face-to-face questionnaire was adopted to explore tourists' expectations on the service content. The survey collected 277 valid questionnaires, and these questionnaires provided a vehicle for the empirical analysis via the use of descriptive statistics, analysis of variance, and regression. The results show that : 1. Tourists possess different perspectives toward the service content in the pre-, during, and post-behaviors. 2. Activities proposed in the pre-, during, and post-visit have influences on the future visit intention.

In mobile computing, it is unavoidable to receive multimedia stream in a session through heterogeneous network interfaces or heterogeneous devices for better communication quality and performance. Session migration aims to maintain the continuity of the ongoing multimedia stream among the network interfaces and the devices. However, current approaches for session migration have compatibility problems because they modify streaming servers, routers, proxies, applications, or protocols. In the thesis, we propose a novel mobility management approach by means of session splice to achieve session migration. The approach maintains the continuity of the ongoing multimedia stream among the network interfaces and the devices without any modification excepting the end host. Without compatibility problems in other approaches, our approach can cooperate with existing Internet infrastructures and legacy applications. Our mobility management approach is realized in Linux and the experimental results show that the approach can achieve session migration with a slight overhead.
