Full textThe organization ''Maghreb Afrique Comité des familles pour Survivre au sida'' is a social NGO in Paris, France. Its aim is to support seropositive people and their families to cope with everyday life and to make plans for the future. The organization also has an advocacy mission, defending the rights of these persons in the French society. This study sought to investigate the dynamics between the stakeholders that play a role in the achievement of the Comité’s objectives. An analysis framework based on of Gamson’s coalition theory and Hinings and Greenwood’s archetype was used. The main observations are related to the identification of the stakeholders concerned by the attainment of the Comité’s goals, the facilitating factors and barriers of interactions between players, and their satisfaction level within this collaboration.

Full textGabriel Hanotaux (1853-1944) is a forgotten personality of the Third Republic: former Minister for Foreign Affairs (1894-1898), historian of Richelieu and literary scholar voted membership into the French Academy (1897), this statesman was mainly concerned with the future of France. Disappointed in the political sphere which he joined at the Quai d’Orsay for nearly twenty years (1879-1898) in which he was severely criticized by a seething public opinion, he left the government to assume only intermittent and official functions – official ambassador at the canonization of Joan of Arc in Rome (1920), delegate of France to the League of Nations (1920-1923) – and he decided to defend this France by following Richelieu’s teaching. With the help of his broad network, he founded the Comité France-Amérique (1909) with the aim of strengthening a friendship across the Atlantic that he considered decisive in the face of the growing tension in international relations, he created the local Comité de l’Aisne during the First World War to support the war effort at the back of the front. He used his pen to defend a permanent peace, he founded the Académie des Sciences coloniales (1923) with a college of scholars to participate in this "greater France" movement, and finally, he contributed to the influence of the country's letters, arts and sciences until the Second World War. Author of numerous books and articles, including L’Histoire de la Nation française, he was both an actor and an observer of this society, whose heads of state and government he was intimately acquainted with, from Gambetta to Marshal Petain, via J. Ferry, R. Poincare, A. Millerand and A. Lebrun

Full textThe Experience Feedback Committee (EFC) is a tool designed to involve medical teams in patient safety management, through root cause analysis of adverse events within the team. This program was created in 2005, and was implemented in the vast majority of French hospitals. Despite its wide implementation in thousands of French medical teams, the EFC still lacks scientific evaluation. To our knowledge, the EFC framework and the association between EFC and patient safety culture have never been assessed. In this context, our work aimed to determine whether patient safety culture, as measured by the Hospital Survey On Patient Safety Culture (HSOPS), differed regarding care provider involvement in EFC activities. Using the original data from a cross-sectional survey of 3,888 employees at a single university hospital in France, we analyzed the differences in HSOPS dimension scores according involvement in EFC activities. We also specified the metrological properties of the transcultural adaptation of the HSOPS into French (psychometrics properties, variability of scoring strategies and missing data imputation methods). Our findings suggest that EFC participation may improve patient safety culture, teamwork and non-blame oriented processes. Despite several limitations, our study contributes to a better understanding of EFC and its position amongst patient safety systems. This thesis advocates research developments centered on health care givers involvement in patient safety management

Full textThis thesis studies the link between peacebuilding throughout the world and women’s position in society. It studies more particularly the main institutions which were entrusted the responsibility of protecting peace by the International Community – the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red-Cross and the Red-Crescent – within their own system and within programs and missions worldwide. This thesis tries to demonstrate that peace is a concept which is not only characterized by the absence of conflict and destruction between nations and people, but also by the development of modern, freed, right, equal, then safer, societies. And in what, as the disparities between women and men and the disregard of women’s rights, as their marginalization in the political and military circles of powers, threaten world stability and security, and constitute a risk for international peace

Full textThe present dissertation describe how the construction of Europe, point of confluence of the political measure of Valery Giscard d'Estaing and Helmut Schmidt, was determinant in the pursuit of their collaboration after 1981/82. In this goal it is focussing on the works of the Comity for Monetary union of Europe, created by Valery Giscard d'Estaing and Helmut Schmidt in 1986, before the adoption of the Single European Act by their successors. What role their initiative did played on the constitution of the Delors Comity in 1988, charged to study the project of Economic and Monetary Union of Europe and more widly on the execution of the Maastricht Treaty? The analysis, with the replacement of the European concept of Valery Giscard d'Estaing and Helmut Schmidt in the beginning of the years 1980 and 1990between the approaches institutionalist and integrationist, economist and monetist, keynesianist and ordoliberal, or French and German , reveal the issues of the lobbyist and the economical integration in the process of the construction of Europe
Lajmi, Amira. "CSR governance practices : interactions and implications for the firm’s market valuation." Thesis, Le Mans, 2020. http://www.theses.fr/2020LEMA2002.
Full textThis thesis attempts to examine the impact of CSR practices on firm market value. Particularly, we analyze the moderating role of the two sustainability-oriented corporate governance mechanisms, CSR committee and CSR assurance on the relationship between CSR reporting and the firm’s market value. Using a sample of French firms belonging to the SBF 120 index over two different periods from 2001 to 2011 and from 2007 to 2017, our results show that both CSR committee and CSR assurance act as a strategic tool to enhance the company’s ability to disclose more on CSR duties. We also show that the creation of a CSR committee and the demand for CSR assurance may substitute for each other. By studying their impact on firm market value, we conclude that the advantage of having a CSR committee and/or CSR assurance does not stem from their direct effect on market value, but from their moderating role between CSR reporting and firm’s market value. Our results show that while a higher level of CSR reporting is relevant for shareholders when firms have a CSR committee in the board, CSR assurance is specifically relevant only for firms exposed to environmental risks, demonstrating an unequivocal need to enhance the credibility of their CSR reporting. Our research is not limited to evaluating the effects of the presence or absence of external assurance but alos investigates the relationship between the issuance of a standalone CSR report and the firm’s market value, depending on the quality of assurance services. The result highlights the contribution of higher-quality assurance services to the relevance of standalone CSR reports. This thesis covers several disciplines namely accounting, accountability and corporate governance with may be a great interest for regulators, investors, managers and shareholders

Full textThe history of the watchmaking schools in Besançon is part of the birth and continuous development of a specific industry in a very limited sector of the French territory. When studying those schools we start at the « protoindustrial » time with its roots in the revolutionary ideals of 1793 and end up with the technological upheavals of electronics and the « quartz » technology in the 1970s. Three « schools » followed one another over the long term. Each school aimed at satisfying the demands of a watchmakng industry confronted to rapidly changing technical evolutions ; so it innovated in its own way by creating an original « corpus » in the students training and most of the time upset the practices and common ideas of the time. If the first two « schools » had a limited lifespan, the last one created in 1861 by the town council itself has been supporting the industrial growth of the city and the surrounding region. Since its foundation it has stuck to the industrial reality by placing the emphasis on high standards and opening new specific branches whenever necessary, thus answering the needs of firms always looking for highly qualified staff. For a large number of French people Besançon became the « capital town of the watchmaking industry » thanks to the shops or repair workshops kept by Besançon-trained former students all over France… It served as a background to set up research and university laboratories in the city : Observatoire Chronométrique, Ecole d’Ingénieurs, Centre d’Etudes Horlogères et de Développement Industriel (Cétéhor)… It contributed to the industrial diversification of the town in fields related to watchmaking such as mechanical cutting, micromechanics, equipment and microtechniques. It was nationalized in 1891 and then belonged to the very small elite goup of the Professional National Schools that influenced the future industrial development of the country. In 1933 it moved into sparkling-new premises and was acknowledged as the flagship of technical education in France : it offered a large number of innovating courses ranging from the skilled worker to the engineer and was granted the latest equipments in every field. The path of this new school also enhanced a « humane » and « prosopographical » history ; it highlighted the part played by the numerous former students who created their own successful businesses. Being faithful to their old school they contributed to the renown and economic growth and prosperity of the city and its region… Beyond the local impact we must regard the history of the watchmaking schools as an important part of the history of Technical Education in France. To meet the needs of a soaring watchmaking industry they opened the way to the transfer of professional training from apprenticeship in workshops with its observed shortcomings to education in technical high schools. Their pedagogical innovations, the strong support of their former students created a vital school-business link that still lives on in the collective memory of the town inhabitants. In 1974 its name changed to Lycée Jules Haag thus losing any reference to watchmaking. Let us now try and understand the strong influence and success of those watchmaking schools, the active part they played in the economic industrial prosperity of a town and its surrounding region…
